001I think you I did share your suggest. [Music] Okay. So, is that okay? I'm so glad I grabbed it. Sorry. Trying to get someone threw me off early and I'm like and then I had to get It's fair. No, it could be a second place [Music] [Applause] Hello everybody. Um, it's June 12th, 2025, 5:30 and um, Miss Patricia, can you please do a roll call? I'm hearing an echo. [Music] President Linda Chavez present. Vice President Andres Cantero coming. Clerk Minam present. Member Corina Oloera Era present. Member Minwen absent today. Superend emergency. Go ahead. Sorry. Superintendent Hermana present. So um this meeting is being recorded and we have quorum. Uh could you all stand please for the pledge of allegiance? I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic
002for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you and welcome everybody. Um I don't see Mr. Carlos Tripoldi. Uh he's the interpreter for Alamro. Um can you please Thank you. And for the record, um Vice President Kintterero is here at 533. Go ahead. So would you like me to say 1.3? Yes, please. Madame President, members of the board and superintendent, members of the community, for Max. Gracias. So, I'm moving on to 1.2 discussion and modification of the agenda. Uh, trustee, if if I may, I'd like to move that the uh following items be moved up. Um, so to move item in this order after 3.3 uh to consider 6.2, 2 6.1 6.3 5.1 5.2 5.3 and 5.4. So the seven items in that order after 3.3 but
003before 4.1. Okay. We also had one more another request by the superintendent SDA and trustee Kintterero if we could move up 9.1 after 6.3. Okay. That's DHS. Um yes. Um I I have also a request if we can do the um budget before um 6.1. So it's 5.4. What is 6.1? 6.1. Okay. So the budget, what item number is the budget? 5.4. Okay. So you want 5.4 6.1. 6.1. That's a lot alterations. Okay. Yes, that would be that would come before item 6.3 and you know maybe you know as I said might be helpful you know for the charter application uh you know um you know to go you know or charter presentation to go you know go before the budget. Okay. So let's do this if you're okay with it. We are moving what
004number four 5.4 the after what number 5.4 after 5.3 so the order would be 6 point so after item 3.3 6.2 wait after the item after item 3.3 you know the items to be in the following order 6.2 2 6.1 6.3 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 and I heard um was item what? 9.1 and before item 4.1 and then my suggestion was to move up 5.4 before 6.1. Uh there's a reason uh why um 5.4 why the trustee did you hear his reasoning why he wanted to move um the budget before 5.4 did you hear the reasoning why so 544 is the budget? Yes. So did you did you So do we want to put alpha before the budget? Is that what I'm hearing? Yes, we can put then if he's okay um 6.3 then 5.4
005and then back to 6.1 if uh trusty fam is okay with that suggestion. Okay, I know several suggestions on the board. Let's start this three. Okay, in order 3.1 then 3.2 then 3.3 then min 6.2 2 6.1 and I think that's where I was suggesting 5.4 first. Okay. Let me see what 5.4 is me. Okay. Um and I think he wanted um alpha first. Is that correct? So maybe we could do 6.3 since he wants or he's suggesting al alpha goes first. Wait, he's suggesting 6.2. 2 then 6.3 then no 6.2 6.1 then 6.3 right and I'm just suggesting that we hear 5.4 before 6.1. I I need to interject. Go ahead. I'm sorry. It's okay. Um Kyla, you want to speak to this? We have to keep the LCAP and the budget in that
006specific order. Uh so can you Yeah. Part of the compliance piece around the LCAP and the public hearing is to have the LCAP go first and then the budget to follow because they're they're combined. Okay. So the LCUP is what number now? It is 5.1 and 5.2. Okay. So we will do in that case um whatever number uh alpha is what number is that please? 6.3. Okay. So, let's do in the order that he suggested. Wait a minute. There's too many. Okay, let's do this. 3.1 3.2 3.2 3.3 excuse me. And then following 3.2 is what? Men RN 3.2 is 3.3. No, after 3.3 what is it? 6.2. Uhhuh. 6.1. Yes. 6.3. Yes. Then 5.1. Then we have to do 5.2 immediately following. Okay. Then 5.3. Okay. Then 5.4 and then four, you know, then
007we return to 4.1 and 4. So Miss Gina's suggestion is to move 5.4 higher up. So would the trustees agree to move 5.4 after? Um Madame President, uh if I may, as as Dr. Jimenez had mentioned, since 5.1 5.2 to go together and you know the LCAP is tied to the budget. I would I would suggest that we just keep it you know just leave uh leave 5.4 in uh per my original suggestion. There's a lot of alterations. So your original suggestion is 3.1 3.2 3.3 6.2 6.1 6.3 5.1 Okay. 5.2 2. Uhhuh. 5.3. Yes. 5.4. Uhhuh. Then 9.1. Then 9.1. Okay. Then we will return to 4.1 and 4.2. Um, we're trying to get 9.1 a little bit sooner uh cuz one trustee asked for it. So uh what do you think about moving
008it up to Is there a suggestion? Is there a suggestion from the maker? No, I'm not the maker. After 3.3. No, no, from the maker, please. Just the maker. The maker's superintendent sort of. Yeah. No, this this was one that actually um vice president had asked for, so I wanted to move it up. This is the presentation for the workforce housing. Okay, let's Okay, got Okay, so this is the order and thank you very much for your patience. 3.1 3.2 2 3.3 6.2 6.1 6.3 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 9.1 4.1 4.2 So that is that uh Okay. And do I have a motion to accept that order? So move. Do I have a second? Second. Okay. All in favor, please raise your hand to do to accept that one. Okay. Unanimously. So uh good luck
009president keeping everything four and one four zero one and trustee absent and trustee win congratulations is absent. Okay. So, uh she section number two public public address I don't have on my I don't have it on the paper. It's gone. Okay. public members who wish to address the board um depending on how many speakers we have uh you will get one minute or two minutes to speak with a maximum of 20 minutes. So right now it's 5:43 and if we have any speakers who would like to do any public comments please uh step up now. Uh seeing none going once twice. Okay, moving on to 3.1 Golden Bell Awards. Superintendent Sura. Thank you, President Chavez. Uh, I wanted to take this opportunity. Actually, it should have been sooner. I apologize to Prince uh Principal Coley.
010Um, the Golden Bell Award, um, Russo Mackanty, and I'm going to call you up in a minute. Um, they they were selected as the winner of the Golden Bell for the, uh, 2024 2025 school year. for climate change and innovation uh back on December the 2nd. Um actually that was the first opportunity that I truly had a pleasure of meeting uh principal Kohi. It was awesome. I sat next to her for a couple of hours. It was a couple of hours, right? and um I understood why she's a leader uh why she's a great leader and her competitive edge was awesome. Uh we're sitting there waiting for um for the Golden Bell to be uh announced for our name or I was I was already getting credit. It was only like a month in to
011this position, but I was sitting next to her and we're waiting for them to announce uh Russo Minty and she's like, "You wait. We're going to get this next year again." So, I'm like, "Yes, I like that. Let's do this." So, uh I would like to call you uh up to the podium uh to say a few words. And uh and I would also like to thank uh President Chavez who was there yesterday at the Skoey uh where they also uh announced and gave the awards certificates to uh to Russo Mackanti uh and we'll hand those to you as well plus the photos that were taken. That was awesome. So thank you very much President Chavez. I'll turn it over to you principal. Um thank you everybody. Thank you uh Superintendent Sura. Actually this this
012award is all for you guys for Russo Mackanti students the staff and the community. It wouldn't have been possible without all of you. You have been a blessing to us to our school to encourage us to write the resolutions to help us uh really move this movement forward and like what superintendent uh Serta said we are applying. We are reapplying uh to Golden Bell again and uh this time we're going to be going in for instructional practices and um we really hope that we win it again and we'll be there again to get our golden bell but um I won't take much time because it's a full u uh program that you have full uh meeting but my students and my teachers prepared a gift for all the board members. So um these are huskys
013because we are Russo Mcinty huskys and they have been personalized to all of you. They're made out of recycled corn filaments so it's not plastic. Um so um I would love for my community to come up, my teachers and students to come up uh to present this to you guys as our deep thank you uh to all of you for supporting us. Thank you. [Laughter] and President Chavis was there yesterday and just uh I just want to read this. This is the certificate that was uh that the Santa Clair County Office of Education gave to uh the district behalf of and President Chavez was there to receive it for us. So, thank you very much. And it reads um this uh re this commendation is presented to Alamrock Union Elementary School District for Russo Mcinty
014Academyy's environmental Yes. Justice. That gave me chills. Did it give you chills? That's awesome. uh in recognition of supporting students with efficiency, care, a positive attitude, and desire to make a difference. So, uh, President Chavez, you ended up getting two, so we're keeping one, and we're giving you one. So, and this is the the famous bell. At first, I thought it was like actually stuck to the actual thing. It's not. So, it's pretty cool. So, here's the bell if you want to show it off. Uh, to everyone, thank you so much for all you do. All of you. Thank you. Emo the master slight similar to this. And I really want to say thank you teachers and community for this because it really was not possible without you guys. Let's close the circle. One more
015step. She's getting blocked by two members of the audience like [Applause] some time [Music] Hello. How are you? Okay, moving on to 3.2, the biiteracy attainment award student recognition. [Applause] So now we will do the 3.3 the great expectation scholarship award. Miss Jennifer Doherty can you please? Good evening board of trustees superintendent Serta Alamrock staff and members of the community. My name is Jennifer Dhy and I have the privilege of serving as the principal of Shephard Middle School. Last week at Shepherd's promotion ceremony, we had the honor of presenting the Shepherd Great Expectation Scholarship, an award that recognizes students who embody kindness, generosity, and a strong
019sense of community. This scholarship began years ago by Miss Rolene Oclair, a retired and beloved Shepherd teacher. Miss Oclair believed that a student's character matters just as much as their academic achievements. She championed those who lifted others, led with heart, and made our school a better place through simple everyday acts of compassion. And we are proud to continue this meaningful tradition in her name. This year's recipient is Ray Rodriguez, who's here tonight. With his permission, I'd like to share a story. A story that speaks to resilience, gratitude, and the quiet power of integrity. Ray joined Shepard in the fall of 23 after moving from Mexico with his father and his sister to start a new life in San Jose. They began their journey living in a shelter. But despite the challenges they faced, Ray showed
020up every day, ready to learn, ready to contribute. From the beginning, Ray stood out not just with his bright smile, but for his quiet strength, his respectful presence, and his willingness to help anyone in need. Every day Ray made a point to greet staff, especially the cafeteria team with warmth and sincere thanks. It was through the cafeteria team that we learned by spring that Ray and his family were no longer in the shelter and have been living out of their cars. Without the cafeteria, staff, teachers, the city project, and my family were able to just [Applause] He was redesated just in time to join Christo Ray this fall. So Rey is the embodiment of what this scholarship stands for. where he makes our community and our school better simply by being himself. It's with deep
021pride and joy that we recognize him as Shepherd's Great Expectations Scholarship recipient. Congratulations, Ray. Come up and accept the award presented by Alamar. Oh. Uh, can I add one more thing? Yeah. Um, Miss Jennifer, I remember you saying what he did for the siblings. Can you also elaborate on that? Um, he also made sure his sister had a place in Alam Rock. You know, he cares so deeply for his family. And again, he's here every single day with this beautiful smile on his face and it's always great to recognize our students and what he does for himself and his family. Thank you. So, I just want to reiterate that even though even he had to move away, but he made sure and he ensured because he had such a wonderful um experience here in Alamrock
022that his sister got to do the same. So, he signed her up and he just went above and beyond to make sure that his sister was taken care of and that she would be here with the the Alen Rock family. Thanks, Have everyone take one step. What's this? [Applause] Madam President. Yes. Go ahead, Vice President. Um I just before uh folks took off uh just wanted to uh recognize Principal Dhy for her um support. Uh she didn't mention this but she and her family provided their own personal uh funds to provide support. And so I think it's important to recognize those folks who go above and beyond and are um sacrificing their own resources and their own funds to lend support to our students here in Alen Rock. So I have to give a special
023round of applause to Principy for Vice President Kint beat me to the punch. Thank you so much, Miss Dhy. Okay, that's good you said that. Okay, moving on to what number? Okay, so we are now 6.2. Uh, and that item is uh the resolution 74 20, excuse me, 752425. And this is the goes under the superintendent board business board discussion and or action. So 6.2 related to the preservation of the district heritage and the amended. Um trustee trustee fam can you please um comment on this because you were the one that brought it to the Yeah. So I I I bring this uh resolution along with my colleague Trusty Quintterero there. Yeah. you know, uh, you know, with the consolidation of schools, you know, um, names that have been in and around this district for,
024you know, generations would disappear. So it is uh in the spirit of you know preserving district history but also to uh honor uh those who have made a contribution to made a great contribution to this community in the wise sense and you know within the district you know it is in that spirit that I bring forth this resolution. Uh you know if I may you know uh read read a few you know, read the five locations be renamed. So, uh, be it resolved that the board of trust, you know, board of trustees of the Alam Rock Union Elementary School District in recognition of the need to preserve the heritage of the district renames the preschool assessment center located at 1990 Camero Avenue, San Jose, California, 95116 to the Joseph George Preschool Assessment Center effective July
0251st, 2025 in honor of his philanthropic work in the building and opening of Joseph George Middle School and his family's continued philanthropic support of Alam Rock schools. Uh be it further resolved that the Alamrock School District office located at 2930 Gay Avenue, San Jose, California, 95127 be renamed the Senator Daniel A. Mccoraddale Education Center effective July 1st, 2025 in honor of his work in support of public education, safe water, conservation, consumer protection, and the developmentally disabled Excuse me. I'm sorry. Could you please take your call or silence it? Thank you. Okay. Uh, be it further resolved that the outdoor education classroom located at Russo Mcinty Academy located at 2851 Gay Avenue, San Jose, California 95127 be renamed the Anthony Dorsa Outdoor Education Classroom effective July 1st, 2025 in honor of his work in the expansion
026of the district as a past trust trustee as well as his contributions to the food manufacturing industry in San Jose and the nation's frozen food industry. Uh be it further resolved that the athletic field at William Shepard Middle School located at 480 Rough and Ready Road, San Jose, California 95133, be renamed the Sylvia Cassell athletic field effective July 1st, 2025 in honor of her work as a past trustee as well as her contributions to the expansion of the district. Uh, be it further resolved that the baseball diamond at Benpainer Elementary School located at 500 Ruff and Ready Road, San Jose, California, 95133, be renamed the Donald Meyer baseball field effective July 1st, 2025 in honor of his work as a past trustee as well as his contributions to the expansion of the district. And be
027it further resolved that the music room at Renaissance Academy at Matson Middle School located at 2050 Camera Avenue, San Jose, California, 95116 be renamed the Bill Nicoloi Music Room effective July 1st, 2025 in honor of his career as a music teacher, founding the Alamrock Jazzb and for codifying music education as a permanent part of the Alamrock General Education curriculum. So uh I also want to emphasize that uh you know this is you know this you know uh as there are uh you know should there be more buildings and more uh facilities open for renaming in the district in order to preserve uh district heritage. Uh you know I would at that time uh introduce uh further resolution set effect when that time comes. But I certainly hope that my colleagues would you know take this
028opportunity to uh honor you know honor those who have uh you know put in their best years for the betterment of not just Alam Rock but also in the region in the east side San Jose region as well. Thank you. Uh Vice President Kintterero. Yes. So, I want to uh thank my colleague uh board member Fam uh because we've been talking about the the the need to uh move forward as we're making tough decisions, but at the same time also not just forget about the past. Uh and I really really am appreciative of my colleague who has gone into our archives, dug in, looked at our documents that had been sitting there and uh and really brought forward the rich history of our district that uh hasn't been properly explored. And so thank you for
029the for you know essentially forcing the district to to take action to acknowledge a milestone like 90th anniversary uh which is significant. And so it's for that reason I'm I'm very appreciative of the efforts that you've undertaken and um I think and thank thankful for us to be able to partner to uh give credit where credit is due. Uh and so part of the resolution reads that uh uh it's asking for the naming of these uh district offices after an individual who did a significant amount of work. I came to know him as a result of him just visiting one of our meets and I was like, "Oh, I I never knew that this individual was uh a supervisor or a senator, but he just was sitting here paying attention to what's going on and
030dropping by every once in a while. Another board member who was a little bit more seasoned than I uh said, "Hey, you know, that's Senator Senator McCoril." And it was through uh those uh those comments that I started asking around and it was other people's uh uh it was other people's testimony about the the the work that had been done by Senator Mccoradel uh to support folks who don't necessarily get attention from other people because they're not voters, they're not wealthy. Uh sometimes they're the ones who are not who who are viewed as uh a drag on society. And so unfortunately that's the case. But instead, uh, Senator Corkell made it his mission to, uh, put those folks at at, uh, at the forefront and, uh, and supported, uh, issues with regard to mental health.
031Worked in special ed himself, uh, and, um, and always put, uh, folks who don't necessarily get the attention from uh, from from policy makers uh, as a priority. And it's for that reason uh, that I'm supportive of the resolution. and uh I uh brought forward this idea of of acknowledging somebody who's gone out there, dedicated his life to support folks who don't necessarily get the attention from other people. Um and so things like uh um and so I'm I've talked a lot and I I'm very appreciative of of this opportunity uh that we've been provided to to bring forward. Um, and I would ask the indulgence of the board if we would be able to provide I think the Senator Mccorell happens to be the only person in this resolution who happens to be in
032the room because the rest of the folks probably are no longer with us. But, um, if it would be appropriate to provide Senator Mccorell an opportunity to provide some remarks. Um, Senator Mccoradale, where is he? If you're up to it. If not, no worries. Can you I can continue to make my comments. Oh, there he is. Amen. Good afternoon. Afternoon. I really want to express my appreciation. You notice that I have a little a helper along with me for somebody that reportedly had walked uh over 3,000 miles to get elected uh at the board of supervisors. It seems strange that uh almost 50 years later that I'm going around with this little cart, but uh it has been a long and fair present run over the years and I've been uh a very uh pleased
033with the work that uh your district has done. Um and I I have close relationship to that is that you educated three children of mine and that uh I recognized the role of uh supervisors as well as the staff people and the board of the uh all educators in the and their district work. The role they play in the state, the role that they play locally, and the tie that you create that holds together people to work together to be uh involved in educating their children and doing the work of the community. So, I appreciate being considered in this regard and uh look forward to working with you for at least a few more years on different issues. Thank you. Thank you. Go ahead. And so, um, just to to underscore the the work that,
034uh, the center has done, things like that we take for granted right now at the county, that there's people that speak people's languages in places like the hospital. It wasn't a normal thing. It wasn't always just it happened. It was a result of of fighting uh, that had to take place by Senator Mccoradel to make it happen. In place like a hospital, you're not this is not political thing. This is life or death. And it was basic things like that that uh Senator McCorell had to struggle for and had to politically work out to make that happen. Um he's he was always looking out for opportunities for to provide opportunities for little guy uh small businesses breaking down massive contracts that the county would automatically give to very large corporations that had the wherewithal and
035the ability to just simply bid. uh came out with a revolutionary idea along with some colleagues of him of his that brought it to his attention and said, "Let's break it down into little pieces so that the little guy here in Santa Clara County can go out there and and bid and that the tax dollars can continue to recirculate within our county." And so it's those things that seem kind of normal and now it's just it's just part of the the things that that local governments do. But it was an it was a it was a a significant effort and a fight that had to take place uh by uh Senator Corkale and eventually the colleagues that he was able to get on his board because he was there for a while by himself. uh
036he was able to build up a coalition and eventually move uh the county into a county that's looking to provide opportunities for the little guy as opposed to just simply taking care of the of the big corporations all the time. And so it's for that reason that I think it's well uh uh uh deserved and it's about time that uh Senator McCor gets recognition especially uh at a school district given the fact that he happened to be a teacher in National City uh happened to be a teacher right here in Santa Clara County uh and it it just It lends itself well to have a teacher as well as somebody who did a significant amount of work at the county as well as at the state legislature for East San Jose. Those are my comments.
037Thank you. Thank you. Uh Trusty Kina de Alora and then Trusty Fam and then me. Go ahead. Thank you for president. Uh thank you senator for being here. Uh thank you for all the service um for walking all those doors. Uh I know it wasn't easy, you know, but it was well worth it. and you um made a lot of changes for you know some of us to be where we're at wherever that might be. So thank you for opening doors um and all the other names that we honored today um in this resolution. Thank you Trusty Fam and Trusty uh Kintto for bringing this forward. Um, I just want to highlight uh Joseph George's uh grandson, Bert George. Um, who him and his family have been contributing to our Joseph George community. Um, just
038even came back and had a big barbecue with our community there. Um, and honored each student and staff. Um, I know his heart is here and he was crushed to hear of the closure of that. Um, but I'm really glad that we're going to continue to honor his grandfather's name and his family's name. Um, so I look forward to maybe uh bringing Bert at some point um and making sure that uh not just his grandfather's names uh recognized, but also the efforts that he continues to put in the um funding behind that. Um I know he involves many people in our community to um give back to our district um our children and families. So I look forward to also bringing him um in the near future. Thank you again colleagues trustee please. You know
039so again you know I want to you know thank Senator McCorale you know I think that for all your work as county supervisor and state senator uh you know behind some uh very very important laws state laws that continue to benefit us to this day. I'd also, you know, uh to to thank Bert George, who I actually did meet at uh at this Joseph George Middle School's fair farewell festival. Uh you know, uh his family, you know, we want to continue to thank his family for, you know, their continued support of Alam Rock students and, you know, again, his family's continued commitment uh in doing so. and also to take a moment to, you know, uh, honor, you know, though they may not be here with us anymore, uh, you know, Anthony Dorsa, Sylvia Cassell,
040Don Meyer, uh, and also, uh, Bill Nicoloi, who, you know, passed away in December, you know, who, uh, if it were not for him, Alam Rock would not have the largest K8 public school music program in East Side St. Jose. So, if I may, madam present, I'd like to move move to approve. Okay. Um, and then I'm going to give my comments. Yeah. Uh, thank you, Senator McCorendelle, for coming today and I when I read your bio, when I looked you up, um, you also served in the armed forces. Thank you for your service and um for all that you have done for children um in California and we appreciate all your efforts you've done and and you what you will do as well because your your knowledge um if you could pass it on
041to others and you have and you do uh would be immensely appreciated. Thank you. And also to um the Joseph George family. It wasn't just this one time barbecue that they did. They did it for 30 years consecutively and they've always contributed when they needed soccer fields for the girls and boys to play. They donated the whole thing. Um they've gave um all the teachers gift awards. They gave the families um they granted them uh food um certificates for the gift cards. And so they've continuously done this year in and year out. And we appreciate everything that they did. Not only did they give Alam Rock the Joseph George land, but they always made sure if they heard about it that they continue to work with Alam Rock. And we appreciate that family so much.
042And it's only fitting that, you know, we name and always honor the names that um we're honoring today. And Mr. Mr. Nicoloi, he is dear to so many people's hearts all the years that he put in. [Laughter] This is a requirement as part of the LCAP approval system is to um to present the local results of the local indicator. informationational only. I thought you was going to say this is a requirement that it should say. Go ahead. Thank you. The local indicator one is the second one. Thank you. They look very similar. It's just a Yes. Oh, sorry. So you said that this is necessary. There is so that thank you. Uh good evening again, President Chavez, Trustees, Superintendent Serta, and our Alamrock community. Um tonight again, I'll be presenting on our local indicators report. Um this is an important piece of our LCAP component. These these indicators reflect the conditions and experiences that impact student success but
058are not measured by our standardized test scores. There we go. Local indicators give us an opportunity to assess how we are all meeting specific state priorities that are not captured through our state test results. These include such areas of basic need, facilities, implementation of standards, parent involvement, school climate, and course access. We the for these indicators, we do selfassess and reflect on our progress using a tool that's provided to us by CDE um the state department and then report to you guys annually on this progress. This process is also important because it helps guide our LCAP development to ensure we're meeting the needs of our students and our families. Um here's a quick look at our um local indicators and the timeline that we have. Um in the spring we collect the data and reflect
059on it internally. In June, which we are doing right now, we present findings and then in the fall, this these re this report is then uploaded into the state as part of our California school dashboard. It's also important to note that the local indicators are different than the state indicators and the uh uh screenshot on the left shows the difference. Um the state in state state indicators focus really on the academic indicators like college and career readiness and maintain facilities. um based on the most recent available um teacher assignment monitoring outcome which they called it TAMO data it is from 2223 that is the most recent um and during that school year 73.7% of our student I'm sorry of our teachers held a clear credential and all students were re and then this year all
060students were reported to have access to their own state standards align and instructional materials to use both in class and at home. This is also validated again when we do our Williams walkthrough at all our CSI schools this year. So, every single student had access to all their core curriculum both in the classroom and at home. Um, in addition, when we look at facilities, we do the fit um report, the facilities inspection tool in October that's done by our maintenance and operations team. Zero of our facilities um were marked less than in good repair. So in this area we um this is what we'll be reporting to the state. For priority two the implementation of state standards on the left hand side you will see that we have a um one to five self-rating scale.
061A one indicates what we're just starting to explore in research phase just beginning to understand it. And then five means full implementation and sustainability. Um we've reached full implementation in English language arts, math, English language development and physical education. Um we are at a um I'm sorry we are at about I'm sorry initial implementation for NGSS our science and our history and social studies and career technical education. Um this is going to be a focus next year on that. Um this year we took a step back with u the implementation of hegrity curriculum that our PD focused on that and um we took a little bit step back on the social studies and science which we'll be focusing in on. Um we've also identified ongoing professional learning needs particular in supporting um teacher growth in
062improving curriculum integration. A key area of focus next year as um is our universal course expectations which will provide clear consistent guidelines for instruction and help ensure that all students have access to high quality learning and experience across subjects and grade levels. So this is where we're at with the implementation of state standards for priority 2. Priority three is also a self assessment on parent and family engagement. Um this data comes directly from our panorama survey. We assess ourselves in three main areas. Building relationships phase. This is an area that I know we've been working on here in Alenok for years. for instance, building um seeking input for decision- making. That's like our L our sorry, our DAC, our district language advisory council, our um DAC or district advisory council, even the site school site
063councils and the DAXs at the school sites. Um we struggle to get parents in for that those pieces of it. So, it's an area that we continuously work on to um bring our families in to help be part of the input. Um uh some of the strengths that we heard from our parents through Panorama were our they love our welcoming events, our multilingual communication through parent square and visible leadership in events like parent university and our annual jubilee. They really do enjoy our celebrations and our parent events that we hold here at Alamrock. Opportunities of growth include our non-digital communication, offering more flexible meeting times both during the day, after school, and the evenings, and continuing to build inclusive engagement, especially for our newcomer families. Priority seven is our school climate. This priority also uses
064direct input from our panorama survey which measures measures the perception of school climate from both students, parents and staff. Um we are proud to share that 97% of our students feel safe at school and 96% report positive relationships with school adults. That's extremely high and does make a difference at the school sites. At the same time, we have about 62% that feel connected to their school community. This is an area that we focus on improving through relationship building programs, access to core subjects. Elementary students receive weekly music and middle middle school students have access to electives like AVID, Steam, and the visual performing arts. That said, we also recognize that we do have a barrier in our sixth period day limited electives um and foundational learning gaps and access issues for students who need designated
065um English language development support. So, it does hinder them having that additional um elective. Um to improve this, we've expanded our enrichment opportunities, especially after school, before school for next year, during the summer, and also during our inter sessions. For example, in February, we offered students swim lessons at the Y as part of our inter session opportunities. Um next year, we're looking at expanding even some of our language offerings a through our afterchool program. So to ensure that all students have that broad access to those uh electives, we are beginning to expand what we're offering through our afterchool programming. Um again, thank you for your time and support. Um these local indicators will be uploaded in August, September when the portal opens up. Um we did use these local indicators as part of our LCAP
066um part of our LCAP um writing part of it too. Sorry. Any questions? Thank you Miss for the presentation. Do any of the trustees have any questions? Um no. All right. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Moving on to 11.1 the consent calendar. So, do you want to move the contract? Just it's not consent. It's contract number one. Excuse me. Contracts. Move to approve 111.
