002their international welcome we have several speakers today students and staff uh closing uh and i will close the speeches and then mr burda our rsp teacher will be presenting the names for certificates of promotion and miss mcdonald and mr miller uh and our our the rest of our eighth grade teachers we have ms lozano here to congratulate our students and then after that we'll have our closing and recessional with instructions on how to receive your certificate so if we get again have everyone in the audience please stand and students if we could all turn and face our flag for the pledge of allegiance this morning all right ready again i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with

004my name is kyle wood and this is my speech on my experience at ben kendra elementary this school year with my first and last year at ben painter elementary school i was a newcomer and had no idea what i was going to experience at this new school because it was my first year at the school i did not know the way around and was unfamiliar with campus and people however in a few weeks i felt much more welcome and comfortable around the campus because some people from my class came to talk to me these people are now my best friends acquaintances teacher and teachers i look up to the most after a whole year of online school coming back coming back to in-person learning was challenging however my teacher this year mr miller supported and
005encouraged me to keep trying throughout the whole school year mr miller taught my class several things this year such as decimals the order of operations fractions volume and plenty more for me learning these topics were difficult but with the support of my teacher and many of my classmates i was able to push through and complete all my work that was assigned to me another fun class i enjoyed is pe my classmates and i were taught by coach g and did several things like the pastor test the mile test the setup and push up tests and other fun activities harder with miss drawing lava lamps where we colored them with oil pastels at ben pedro we also attended music class which was taught by mrs lozano in music class we learned how to play the piano
006and also watch several movies that involve music following my liking for music i joined band with some of my friends in band we learned how to play an instrument of our choice percussion trombone trumpet clarinet or flute i chose to learn how to play the clarinet and it was fun one of the events i remember was the performance the band had where we performed with everybody at once in front of our school near the end of the year we took the s back test to see how much we learned about a certain subject math reading writing and science i was able to get through the testings to mr miller's hard work of teaching me the subjects during this year i've had my own ups and downs in my school school work but thanks to to
007the support of so many people i've been able to push through fifth grade the experiences i had at ben painter changed and helped me as a person with the encouragement of many people at the school i feel like i've improved in my learning a lot i will miss being at the school but will continue to challenge myself throughout middle school and armors thank you for listening to my speech all right thank you uh one more round of applause for kyle there very very good next next stop we'll call up from miss mcdonald's class aaron diaz aaron please come to the stage good morning to all families and thank you for coming to ben painter elementary's 5th grade promotion i am aaron diaz and it is my honor to deliver this speech to you all to
008my fellow students today is the day we show them all we did it this morning is a milestone in our educational journey we all gathered here to celebrate all the hard work we've done we've been surrounded by amazing teachers principals school staff parents and friends and family members who supported and guided us without them we wouldn't be able to accomplish this milestone we've been through lots of challenges but we were able to get through it with the help of god i know that all of us have learned something new throughout this year but keep learning and never stop we all can learn something new every day which could help us we 5th graders finally made it through 5th grade and i wish all my fellow students the best congratulations to all those fifth graders and
009hope to see you all in middle school god bless us all [Applause] right thank you aaron for another great speech next up we'll be calling to the stage our fifth grade teacher mr miller with some remarks for our graduating promoting class [Applause] deep dear parents and families thank you for your constant support during this challenging year as we as we returned from a year and a half of distance learning during the coven 19 pandemic and to the 2022 5th grade graduating class from benjamin painter elementary a heartfelt congratulations on your promotion to middle school you made it [Applause] no doubt you are graduating penn painter at an unprecedented time of challenge for a community country enrolled the global pandemic and recent gun violence in our country have demonstrated the need for uniting and healing these
010crises demonstrate a need for kind empathetic compassionate critical thinkers who can positively impact their community and the world around them the great thing is your time here at ben painter elementary has taught you to meet this moment whether you recognize it or not you are more prepared to enter the challenges of middle school high school and beyond than you ever know as you take this next step i would encourage you to take this summer to reflect on your five years of elementary school ask yourself what do i need to do to prepare myself to succeed in middle school and life for some that might be working on adding a subtractive reading a challenging book and for some it might be learning to regulate intense real emotions that might impede your ability to learn and become
011the best version of yourself i truly believe that the knowledge and skills that you have gained here at painter will be an asset for you as you move forward in your educational career as you embark on the next step in your journey know that the painters staff myself miss mcdonald mr verda and mr manluco are incredibly proud of each and every one of you it is now time for you to take off and for you to soar for you of eagle strong thank you [Applause] all right thank you mr miller for your encouraging remarks next up we would like to call our fifth grade fourth fifth grade combo teacher miss mcdonald [Applause] age and broken ankles don't help get up on the stage aloha this family friends community and the promoting class of 2022 from
012fifth grade the teachers and i have seen many of you since you were in a baby stroller and today we comment on how you have grown into thoughtful caring responsible students and those traits will help you to become future leaders for your community we are so proud of your accomplishments throughout the years here at bendpainter one event comes to mind that is the first annual arcade i expected a lot from all of you but because i knew you could do it and you did it you have applied the skills that you learned throughout your elementary education such as analyzing creating and critical thinking to engage not just one grade but a whole school in a wonderful activity you did an awesome job then there was teamwork to my fifth graders i remember ross from the
013wild robot yeah her kindness she gave to those that thought she was a monster became one of her biggest assets throughout our adventures which lead her to freedom and return to our community your kindness will be the greatest gift you can give back to your family your community your past and future teachers as you be ben peter you will be continuing your adventures that hold challenges in your life know that you can survive through them through the support of family friends community and teachers but most of all through your kindness like you have shown me know that you when you move to middle school all of you will be my kids oh [Applause] thank you for such heartfelt words miss mcdonald we appreciate that before we get to our uh certificates of promotion i have
014some a few remarks to share on behalf of the class of 2022. class of 2022 i'm extremely proud of all that you've accomplished during this year it's been a challenging year with the return to school and i remember starting with the unknown and very initially uncertain and anxious parents eager for your very first day now here we are with to witness you from overcoming and thriving throughout this year despite all the obstacles presented towards you from our organized lines to and from class cafeteria after school programs science and art lessons to after school programs such as think together the get down dance and creative art with miss d you all have shown how exemplary each and every one of you are through everything that we have provided you here at painter elementary you did such
015a commendable job with your learning and with your teachers this year the fall we brought back your harvest festival and in the spring we brought the lunar new year tent festival to celebrate the year the tiger and marched in unity around campus and virtually to our families in honor of the unity that cesar chavez brought as a message for all of our families dirt sales to fund our activities such as today's promotion our students learned lessons across their content areas and pe with their teachers across all subjects and i know that mr miller and miss mcdonald definitely gave you some challenges with some of the strength and conditioning activities you guys got to do this year did you guys have fun with your programs this year all right uh can we hear was it art
016or was it dance or sports or athletics or music what were some of the things you all most enjoyed just shout the one you feel most passionately about right now ready set go that's it heart and passion soaring eagles that's what you all are we did online learning programs st math facts math mystery science lexi reader imagine learning there are so many online learning platforms i know some of you got to experiment with tinkercad 3d modeling and design so many different programs for you all here we know that your reading levels increased and your skills in math fluency and growing algebraic knowledge were developed a big emphasis this year science technology engineering arts and math in your classrooms and with our science from scientist providers who are waiting for you with your lessons later on
017today in room 27 we also closed the year with a steam design challenge where you all had the opportunity to design bridges in preparation for earthquakes and last but not least i know that many of you were able to enjoy or participate in our virtual showcases that included the get down dance performance included the art show case provided by misty and of course miss lozano's band performance thank you for showing how great you truly are i also want to address community concerns about the safety here and want to assure you that your students are safe here with us at ben painter and we'll continue to collaborate and develop plans that respond to the climate of violence that's plaguing our nation you all are ready for this next big step as middle schoolers to finish this
018day and this school year on your way to be 6th graders and middle schoolers next year so before i close i do want to call mr burda we'll be calling our students up to the front here for the presentation of our students and celebration of their promotion so mr berta if you could please come to the stage and then families i do want to encourage you to um as you see your students cue and approach the stage feel free to come up but immediately after your child has walked across please make way for the other families to capture the precious moment for all the students who have celebrated um their their achievements here at painter thank you [Applause] there's an old african proverb that says it takes a village to raise a child and when
