Our staff, counselors, and especially our incredible senior counselor, Ms. Janet Lowe. It is my pleasure to introduce the senior class officers, Joseph Cisneros, Aaron Gonzalez, Samantha Solis, and our incoming ASB President, Fabian Severiano, for the presentation of the senior gift. We are proud to present the class of 2026 gift to Katella High School in gratitude for all Katella High has given to us. Our gift will be a monetary donation to the incoming freshman, class of 2030. As incoming ASB President, I will accept the class of 2026 gift on behalf of Katella High School. We thank you. Now, please welcome our first senior
speaker, Suri Hernandez Santos, who will be attending Chapman University in the fall, majoring in community educational studies to become a teacher. >> [cheering] >> Thank you, Fabian. Can everyone see me and hear me? Good evening, students, families, friends, staff, and everyone else. Thank you for joining us on such a special and meaningful occasion. My name is Suri Hernandez Santos, and it is my honor to be one of your graduation speakers today. Graduation has always felt far away, but seeing all of us gathered here today makes this moment real. When we first walked into high school, people told us to enjoy it because it would go by quickly. And as cliche as it sounded, they were right. None of us could have predicted the challenges we could face, not just academically, but in a world that
often feels uncertain. As a community, we have lived through moments that have tested us. The summer before senior year, many of us felt the weight of immigration issues affecting our families and neighbors. It was a reminder that behind every student here, there are stories of resilience, sacrifice, and hope. I stand here as a proud daughter of two immigrant parents and a first-generation high school student. But I know my story is not unique. Many of us are here because someone before us gave up something. A dream, a home, a childhood, a country. Our parents have carried burdens so that we could carry opportunities. In my AP Literature class, we read A Raisin in the Sun, a play about a family fighting for a better life and the sacrifices parents make to ensure that their children can
live their dreams. So today, I want to honor not just my parents, but all immigrant parents and families who made this moment possible. Class of 2026, as this chapter closes, another one begins. And if high school taught us anything, it is that nothing is handed to us. We earn it. We have proven that we can rise to challenges, support one another, and keep moving forward even when the path is uncertain. So, let us carry that strength with us. Let us honor where we come from by stepping boldly into where we are going. Congratulations, class of 2026. >> [cheering and applause] >> Now, please welcome our next senior speaker, Marlene Hernandez, who will >> [screaming and cheering] >> Marlene will be attending Loma Linda University this fall and studying nursing. Good evening, graduates, faculty, family, and
friends. My name is Marlene Hernandez, and I am honored to stand before you as we celebrate the amazing class of 2026. Today marks a milestone we've long worked toward, and now that we're here, it feels bittersweet. Through the perseverance, sacrifice, determination, and countless challenges, we made it. First, I would like to express my gratitude for the amazing staff and administrators here at Katella, as well as the Board of Trustees. Your guidance, encouragement, and belief in us every step of the way made this day possible. Even though this journey has been full of dreams and disappointments, I am grateful for all the beautiful moments it has brought. Along the way, I met some of the most amazing people. These girls have been with me through every high and low. I hope I have left a lasting
impact on them. One day, I hope to become someone they look up to and inspire to be like. And one day, I will switch places with them and watch them walk this stage just as they are watching me today. Today is just one of many goals we will accomplish in our lives. Today isn't about looking back. It is about looking forward. But the future isn't something we enter. The future is something we create. Over the past four years, there have been moments I felt hopeless, times I convinced myself that I would never get to see this day. I would like to ask everyone to close their eyes for a moment and think of a memory where you thought you wouldn't be on this field today. That moment that you just thought of is proof that
you can overcome anything. Ayer lo soñamos y hoy lo logramos. No matter where life takes us, let us remember the lessons we have learned here. Work hard, stand tall, explore fearlessly, and above all, believe in yourself. Thank you. >> [applause] >> Thank you, Syria and Arlene, for your touching speeches. Our band will now perform Cyrus the Great by King Karl King, and directed by Daniel Castellanos. >> [music] [music] >> Mhm. >> [applause] >> What a great performance. Thank you, Mr. Castellanos and our amazing Katella band. It is my honor to welcome back our principal, Mr. Hernandez, to the podium. It's my It's my honor that at this time I get to recognize all of our academic groups. At Katella, we have embraced the growth as scholars, athletes, and visual and performing artists. It is my

giving them a well-earned round of applause. >> [cheering and applause] [screaming] >> Scholars, you may be seated. Good evening, Katella families, distinguished faculty and guests, and most importantly, the historic and incredible class of 2026. Four years ago, we began a journey together. You arrived on campus as freshmen, and I joined you as the new principal. We were both new kids trying to find our way. Because we started this chapter together, you will always hold a sacred place in my heart. You aren't just a graduating class. You are my first graduating class. >> [cheering] [applause] >> Over these four years, we've shared countless moments that have become the soundtrack of our lives. You have heard the call OF LET'S GO KNIGHTS 4,320 times echoing through passing periods, booming at rallies, and ringing out under the Friday
night lights, and every Sunday morning. But as you sit here today, I hope you realize those aren't just words or a catchy slogan. They are the heartbeat of a 60-year legacy. This year marks our diamond jubilee, the 60th anniversary of Katella High School. Since 1966, these halls have been a sanctuary for academic excellence, a stage for athletic triumph, and the birthplace of birthplace of lifelong friendships. Today, you take the place as the latest and most vibrant chapter in that storied history of Katella pride. I see the five C's alive in each of you. I see in how you've lifted each other up, the character you've displayed to face challenges, and the compassion you've shown your peers. You have demonstrated exactly what it means to be a knight. From the inaugural class of '66 to the
class of 2026, the Katella spirit has remained unchanged. It is defined by our diversity, our resilience, and our unwavering commitment to one another. To my first graduating class, you are the living legacy of these six decades. Whether you were performing on a stage, competing on a field, or collaborating in the classroom, you have carried forward the traditions of thousands who walked the halls before you. Now, it is time to carry those traditions out into the world. I'm incredibly proud of the people you are today, and I am even more excited for the people you are destined to become. Carry the knight spirit with you wherever your journey leads next. Congratulations, class of 2026. And just for the record, for the 4,321st time, LET'S GO, KNIGHTS! [screaming] >> [cheering] [applause] [cheering] >> ALL RIGHT, it is
