few words of wisdom before we all say our last goodbyes well class of 2022 we made it we really did make it let's get round yeah let's reply let's reflect upon our journeys and how we have arrived at this moment i remember my freshman year as if it was just yesterday i still remember excitedly sitting in miss waxman's first period english class then realizing that in the first 10 minutes of class i was in the wrong classroom i told myself welcome to high school as a class we first experienced our first football game first pep rally first high school dance first 11 59 pm deadline for our first assignment and for some of you your first relationship your second relationship maybe even your third relationship and the list just gets longer however we never knew
how long this list could last especially after we faced a world crisis that played out like a hollywood blockbuster that forced us to ponder the fate of our future coven 19. march 13 2020 i remember that last normal bill of our high school experience as our extended spring break turned into an entire year of online education coven 19 affected us in unimaginable ways yet it did not stop us from making it this far and i can confidently say that we are the most resilient ambitious and of course best looking class in magnolia high school's history if we can endure a pandemic we can overcome any challenge as one of the greatest street poets of our generation drake once said started from the bottom now we're here [Applause] after hearing that quote so many times i
was led to consider the importance of overcoming challenges the first time i watched a new spider-man movie i still remember when i leaped from the couch exclaiming to my parents when i grew up in the future i'll be the next spider-man my mom responded rahi grow up you graduate in a month looking back these last few years i discovered that i did have a superpower the ability to combine the curiosity for learning with opportunities to serve all without wearing a spiderman costume i realized through much self-reflection that we are all on this journey to find the hero within us in life everything happens for a reason and the reason that we all are here is to showcase the rest of the world that we serve a higher purpose if there is one thing one thing
that magnolia high school has taught me it is that we all have our own story to tell don't let anyone take that pen and write your story strive to become the best version of yourself and to always find your happy spa you know i remember one night i asked my dad dad what is the biggest investment that you have made in your life my dad replied back and said the biggest investment that i have made is in you after that night it took me some time to realize what that meant and i realized that investing time money and energy in the youth is a priceless activity and i am glad that we all have friends family teachers and others that have made us their priority to where they invested their energy every single day in
hopes to better us as human beings take a look around you and find that people that have been with you since day one the people that helped you grow in all aspects without my family or my teachers or any of you fellow graduates i would not be in this place position that i am in today if anything all of you are the real superheroes of my life class high school was just a trailer of our lives hope you have your popcorn ready because the real movie begins now lights camera action thank you thank you for that amazing speech rahi at this time i would like to introduce our very own magnolia high school choir performing this is me with choir director alan garcia [Applause] [Music] i've learned to be ashamed of all of my scars
run away they say no no love you as you are but i won't let them break me down to dust i know that there's a place [Music] i am who i am [Music] no apology [Music] oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i make this is [Music] [Applause] [Music] this is brave this is bruce this is who i'm meant to be this is me this is me oh [Applause] thank you choir for that amazing performance we would like to take a moment to recognize our chief academic officer mr manuel colon this will be his last group of graduates as he is retiring this year we would like to give a big thank you for all his years of service give it up [Applause] thank you again our next speaker today is evelyn lay evelyn lay will be
attending california state long beach this fall to major in biology upon completion of her degree she would like to work as a cardiothoracic surgeon at this time i would like to introduce evelyn lay our next class speaker [Applause] good morning people of earth parents and guardians friends and foes for those who know me hi and for those who do not hello nice to meet you my name is evelyn lay and i am so honored to be standing in front of you today throughout my 12 years of school i've never stayed in one place i was constantly moving and constantly adapting through different schools and different friendships during that time i've learned two things to never settle and to not get too attached my dad constantly reminded me that friends come and go and my mom
adding on you are who you are surrounded with let now let that sink in for a moment because in a way don't you think that's true graduates look around you some of you have had close friendships throughout all these four years maybe even more maybe even less and others have experienced broken friendships some of you probably hold grudges against each other but others choose to forgive and forget and you know what that's okay not everyone will like you so what life goes on perhaps those friendships though are there for a reason so you yourself can grow from it you're a flower or a tree or whatever plant you want to be those friendships those hardships that's watering you that's helping you grow and this is just the beginning you're just sprouting from the ground and
from here on out you will experience more hardship but you will experience life and don't be afraid to live it because that's what makes you bloom it's okay to move on from people it's okay not to talk it's okay to leave for your own benefit you do you because at the end of the day you have yourself separation is not the end saying goodbye is hard but is to say hello to something new today you made it we made it but this is just the beginning don't just stop here push yourself to continue expanding your mind your talents your mindset and allow yourself to grow because now's the time my friends let's bloom thank you evelyn i would now like to introduce our principal aaron chao [Applause] good morning families friends faculty dignitaries and of
