004valdez and mr jules aldana administrators of student support services i would also like to thank our cambridge teachers and faculty for supporting and inspiring the class of 2021 inside and outside of the classroom and especially a thank you to all the families and parents who have raised these excellent students that we will be recognizing this afternoon to the class of 2021 thank you and congratulations at this time i would like to introduce fellow cva senior mr isabella rosales to come and deliver the first speech courtesy spray [Applause] thank you nathaniel good afternoon family friends faculty and fellow graduates cba class of 2021 we did it [Music] [Applause] we have come a long way since we first started our education 12 years ago remember and we're curious about the world and what would be in store
005for us not too long ago our parents dropped us off in kindergarten with backpacks 10 times the size of us and now here we are ready to take on the world and what is to come one thing is certain during all those years when we're looking ahead to this very moment we worked hard and our time was well spent our lives changed when our junior year was cut short and our social interaction shifted from being in person to a google or zoom meeting however if not for covid cva would not have happened for us this school year it is because of our teachers and our families that we continue to stick together as a class more importantly our strength is what brings us here now to graduation day the class of 2021 will always be
006remembered to have graduated during a pandemic and it is because we graduated through such difficult times that we will not be forgotten because we are leaving behind a legacy we are the ones laying the groundwork that defines cva and the experiences to follow every single one of us that is here today has had an impact in one way or another on someone else perhaps you might have been a mentor maybe you are someone's friend or you simply made yourself available to listen let these experiences influence you to accomplish even greater things in the future our memories of high school will last a lifetime we will never forget them although i can't claim to have spent as many hours as some of you that have dedicated your time to cba of course our teachers and our
007several students spend an insane amount of time and effort to make cba great most of them do it of their own choosing i see our leadership club building our community by having movie nights and other creative ideas to make students experiences memorable that's dedication i've learned that it takes that kind of teamwork to survive in life i recognize my experience as limited but i've been able to conquer any obstacle because someone has been there to support me parents mentors friends teachers and listeners you know who you are we all thank you depending on the severity of trouble i find myself in i know that i have a support network this isn't to suggest that i'm a troublemaker i've never had detention and have only been sent to the office twice and even one of those
008times was due to a misunderstanding but even for me a relatively quiet student with some guidance and a whole lot of encouragement it goes a long way to get me through difficult times cva offers us unlimited opportunities to learn and grow together this is where our school truly excels well what's next i will be going to college as well as many of my classmates it is after graduation that we will soar into the world of new dreams and aspirations graduating high school is a major stepping stone within the journey of our lives class of 2021 the first class to graduate from cba has been through so much and endured through so much adversity we have shown how truly resilient we can be congratulations to my fellow classmates we made it we may be sitting six
009feet apart but we have never been so close thank you now let's reflect on our last year of high school and watch this senior slideshow together [Music] do [Music] my [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] good greetings everyone i am angelina gustafson and i have the honor of speaking to all of you this afternoon on this very special day our graduation i want to start out by thanking everyone for being here and for the pivotal roles all of you have played in our education and personal lives thank you to our teachers who have worked tirelessly to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that we will carry with us as we begin our individual journeys thank you to our parents guardians family and friends who have listened to us ramble about topics like nuclear physics at 11 o'clock
010at night apparently for no reason at all thank you for being our shoulder to lean on when we felt overwhelmed by the looming reality of adulthood thank you especially for your love and support and now to my fellow graduates the class of 2021 we know it hasn't been easy and i cannot promise that what is to come will be any easier however despite the difficulties we have overcome both socially and academically we have demonstrated our resilience we will walk this stage today cva has presented all of us the opportunity to break barriers exceed expectations and most importantly explore our academic goals on march 13th of 2020 friday the 13th no less we were very unaware of how quickly our lives would change we have persevered through pain experienced loneliness and suffered loss all while continuing
011to forage ahead to meet our goals not even a pandemic can stop us while we may have been physically apart this year mentally we have been standing right beside one another now i say we as in you and i but in reality it's our nation as a whole we have found comfort in social media platforms such as tick tock videos made by people hundreds even thousands of miles away from us that somehow know exactly how we all felt and if only for a moment we felt understood and unified we should recognize that the pandemic has caused so much negativity however at the same time it has also brought us all closer together we are not too different from each other and now more than ever we need to focus on the things that bring us
012together rather than the ones that tear us apart one of my favorite authors is john green known for his novel the fault in our stars and he is quoted you probably have figured out by now that education is not really about grades or getting a job it's primarily about becoming a more aware and engaged observer of the universe his words are suitable for today and we should keep in mind our education does not end here our education is fundamentally who we are and we will continue to learn grow and persevere while this may be the end of our journey together as seniors at cambridge virtual academy this is just the beginning of our pathway to success congratulations class of 2021 we did it thank you and now please give a warm welcome to our cva

014a very special cord the cva cord this is this is special because it designates that cva's this is cva's first senior class thank you you may all be seated it is an honor it's an honor to be here today and it's an honor for me to welcome students parents family members teachers and staff and honored guests on this very special graduation day a graduation ceremony is a time of celebration it's a time to reflect of from of the year and and it's an open door that welcomes the future this has been an exceptional year buzzing within this global pandemic is cambridge virtual academy an exceptional school with exceptional teachers and most importantly exceptional you cambridge virtual academy's first senior class although this is not the graduation ceremony we thought we might have the entire cambridge
015virtual academy is so very proud of you each of you we're proud of your accomplishments and achievements 100 percent graduation rate 100 california state seal of civic engagement [Applause] 100 a through g completion and so much more as we just saw as all these students were standing we're proud of you as you continue your journey and some of you are entering the workforce others are attending community colleges and universities and one of you is serving our country in the military but we are even more proud of you because of your dedication your resilience your transformative success as you did all of this despite living through this covet era now take a moment and think back when you and your family made this decision to attend cva i imagine your choice was because cambridge virtual academy
016provided a safe harbor from the covid pandemic but as the year progressed we began to realize that there was something very unique and special happening at cva and we found ourselves in the midst of exploring and contributing to this novel learning environment many of you have shared you've shared that cva exceeded your initial expectations you experienced meaningful lessons taught by caring expert teachers you interacted with other students through discussion boards in class and outside of class and you organize you are able to organize a flexible schedule that enabled you to participate in internships mentor opportunities and other activities to connect with others you all exceeded our expectations and as you open this door the door to the future always bring joy with a smile with a gentle word or a simple act of kindness promote
