001okay so archer as you're eating i'm gonna tell you something that'll give you some giggles so don't chop chop choke on your food um do you remember how you asked me to participate in kind of an interview thing related to a study they were doing for the state of california or whatever okay so i didn't get a call i didn't get a call i didn't get contacted and i figured oh they'll go through you whatever you know it's okay and uh so finally i get a call from my cta regional manager who's pretty high up the food chain and she said meg i was just in a meeting and they were talking about that they're doing this study and and they're including labor leaders and and that the leader from azusa refused to talk to
002them and so they have to put in the study that she refused to participate and and and she said meg i couldn't believe they were saying that and i said i haven't gotten called i haven't seen anybody she said they've emailed you they've called you they've left you messages and they're gonna have to put in the report and they feel so bad for azusa that their labor leader refused and she said whoa whoa before you do that let me call her i know her that's so unlike her so anyway she called me and i said i i never you know me i wouldn't i wouldn't do that you know so they gave her her my her um my phone number and the lady called and her name is supposed to be taylor albright well when
003she calls you on her cell phone the phone the name comes up sammy ilawi or something well that's her husband and so apparently i kept hanging up on him or her because i didn't know who it was anyway i had it today so it's i just thought that that was because me i refuse to do it i'm so indignant oh my gosh that's funny i'm glad it worked out welcome everyone it is 5 30 p.m and we're gonna start right on time um as we always do uh thank you for being here uh thank you for being an active participant on this team and uh again i just want to reiterate um how difficult this is this is not an easy task but i appreciate the fact that you have volunteered uh and stepped up
004to the challenge um of our purpose here of maximizing our programs and maximizing uh our facilities i want to reiterate again like i did last week um i know it feels this way and sometimes you know it's hard to to think outside but this is this is not an azusa issue this is affecting all of our school just all of our neighboring school districts um who live in this area i'm sorry who who have districts in this area some have moved faster or quicker some are moving at the same time and some i'm sure we'll follow uh after afterward uh number three i just wanna just reiterate i know that we i probably said it too many times last week uh but i'm gonna continue to to continue to say this that right now we
005as a team are not having conversations about this is the school that i like or this is the better school or why did we choose this school and not that school that is going to happen that is part of your responsibility our responsibility to have that conversation and bring out those ideas and and vet those those plans right now though we are trying to gain clarity on the models that we have decided that we're going to investigate model 4 this team super clear crystal clear no problem understood again we still have to have the conversation about model four because there's still other pieces that we take that we need to to bring into the table number one and the number two we need to have a conversation again about the school sites model three though
006was not as as simple or was not as decisive as we had with model 4. and so there are still some lingering decisions that need to happen around model 3 but only because again i'm going to project it right now in a second i want to reiterate that the schools that you see right here are not necessarily what's going to happen this is not a decision so schools schools that are here that looks like they're going to remain open that that is not 100 sure right we're going to speak into this as a team schools that are on here as possibly uh closing that is not final this is not a final decision this is not what um is going to be right and so we just want to just want to make sure that
007we're crystal clear about the fact that the schools that you're about to see right now um again which are no different than what you've already seen but just to reiterate uh that this this is not a final product we're in a journey together um and we will get to that conversation um but right now we need to take care of some other business before we can have that conversation so we have two objectives today objective number one is to uh decide completely on model three we have two pending uh two pending decisions to make about bottle three and then not related to the models but we have a surprise kind of conversation decision that we want to get feedback from the team in terms of next steps okay so i'm gonna go ahead and uh
008present i think there it is my screen um [Music] do you see the spreadsheet yes okay perfect thank you um all right so if i if i do that do you still see my spreadsheet yes okay perfect all right so um bringing us back uh just to to kind of where we were or where we've been so far [Music] last week we we decided that this was going to be a tk6 model as a as a majority um and as a tc tk6 model um we decided that um it was going to have one middle school which is kind of what you're seeing right here is kind of what we were projecting on that day so this should not look any any different to you from from the last time uh today what we have
009um are two two lingering uh decisions uh one is um should this model include a tk8 or not and should this model include uh one high school or two high schools those are lingering decisions to make about model three and if we can accomplish that today then we are ready to move on uh to next steps so i want to start with the tk8 conversation first i want to point to you here at the very top just as a point of reference for you for you all as a team when we polled this team about this issue or this this decision in the past 42.1 percent of this team said that this model should not include a tk8 15.8 percent of this team said yes this model should include uh tk8 which means that almost
010half 42 percent of this team said they were fine either way so now tonight we're trying to get clarity on if this should include a tk or not so what you are seeing right now is again the the sheet that we uh showed you uh last week uh this one does not include a tk8 in this in this particular model right just so that we can orient orient ourselves once again up here in this model these were the schools that we're going to remain open are listed here the schools that would be shut down are listed here listed here and over here would be how this happens over the course of of uh of three years so this is what it looks like right now again even though i just said right now these are
011the schools that would remain open these are the schools that would that would be shut down this is only to show you how the model works this is not to say that these are the schools so i'm going to switch over to to another spreadsheet and show you uh what uh what it would look like with a tk8 uh and and just talk to you about um about that so here you will see that from down here we took away ellington because i'm just going to try i can't i can't see anything it's a black screen yes we can't see anything oh i got that pause again now yes oh yes we can okay perfect all right so let me kind of catch up so this is what we showed last time so this is
012this is how the model would look like without a tk8 and we explained this one um the last time around we explained how it works that right now up here listed the schools that would remain open down here are listed the schools that would eventually be closed same thing at the middle school level and then how it would work over the course of three years so what we want to show you now again the school at this at the schools at this particular moment are irrelevant but let me tell you uh what we did here on row 12 and 13 where you see dalton and el and powell you will see that there is no ellington here anymore in in though in in this model where there is a tk where there is no tk8
013ellington is down here so here we took ellington off of the off of the the map and we added it up here in row 2. and we designated ellington as the tk8 if we're going to put a tk8 alliance already tk8 that goes that goes there um by adding ellington here as a tk8 yes it does drop the capacity uh to 89 88 88 um but that that is that is um again what we are bringing forward it what it would what it would might look like if there was a tk8 here uh now i'm gonna i'm gonna erase ellington for a quick second and pretend that it's it's not there right the moment i erase it the capacity jumps up to 98 97 97. we thought about what can one of these schools up
014here become a tk8 but but our capacity is at 98.87 the moment we introduce seventh and eighth graders to these schools that are already here now we're talking construction now we're talking something else so so these schools right here do not have the capacity and right now these are our our largest elementary schools they do not have the capacity to hold seventh and eighth graders so that is why uh we put ellington up here uh to house and have a tka because again we're trying to decide does this model have a tka or not have a tka um i'm gonna erase arlington one more time um you will notice that we do have larger campuses down here slauson and center right so is it possible to bring one of these larger cap larger campuses up
015here to make it a tk8 yes that is possible and yes again if if this group wanted a tk8 these are the conversations that we would have to have right but yes i could take i could take slauson right and put it up here and put the tk8 there but that means that ellington stays here right and you'll notice that the capacity now is down to 76 75.75 well of course then i can go and subtract a school from here to get the capacity back up but no matter how we cut it slice it or dice it um adding a tk8 brings a lot of variables uh to the table um so so you like in in this in this scenario uh unlike no tk8 this has the potential of four uh sites uh possibly
016shutting down whereas not having a middle school i'm sorry not having a tk8 has the potential of shutting um a five now of course again we we want to be cognizant and understand that yes we could take one of these properties here and make it a tk8 um but but also two uh now you have to think about construction because you do have some laws around kindergarten and then you have some laws around preschool and so there would have to be some build outs if either of those schools became a tk8 um so i'm going to take a pause and i'm going to open it up to anyone who might have a clarifying question again we are not at the point in time where we're talking about i like this school i don't like this
017school why this school we're going to get to that right now we're just trying to to get clarity on this model so we can continue moving forward with the decisions that we need to that we need to make in terms of recommendations uh to the board uh so does anybody have a question regarding how a a model three without a tk works versus a model 3 with a tk8 i have a question i keep putting question in the chat so i don't know if you want us to just unmute ourselves or yes please okay yeah um i see that you're swapping out middle schools and so i'm just assuming that the reason why you're choosing those is for the sake of capacity and so um i would like to ask just looking at the school
018that has the lowest number of elementary because you put an elementary back if you take an elementary out if you take lee out of there just because it has the lowest number and put it as a school to close just because i'm talking numbers what would the capacity be then right now yes 102.01 and so technically if you used one tbd classroom one tbd classroom in any of those sites it would go down to less than 100 percent let me let me do it really quick even if you just did ellington a tbd classroom at ellington say it's 35 kids because say it's an upper grade class or a secondary class i just did it and you're still at 101.11 well wait a minute how is it that you where did you put the extra
01935 oh she want to put it in capacity not enrollment oh my bad let me let me yeah capacity so if you took out yes yes you're right you're right so for the sake of ellington say you put another 35 kids on that so now it's going to be 425. what's that gonna do okay and so say you put two more classes at ellington you take two of those tbd's away so now it's going to be 455. what does that do because really that's at any of those schools you could take a class and now you're at the hundred percent but you could use a tbd class and and then and i'm only saying lee because it had the lowest number but you could swap out an elementary somewhere and reconfigure are you really going
020to have two preschool classes at every site are you really going to need two tbd classes i'm only asking in the sense that we put back an elementary slash tk through eight it would seem to me like taking an elementary out potentially solves that problem rather than rehouse your tk8 at a middle school so that's my question it's not about which school like it's more elementary versus secondary when you're looking at where you're going to swap your tk-8 sure oh i'm sorry and the other question is and this was my original question um is this assuming that that whatever tk8 exists wherever it exists it will be a 100 self-contained classroom still so six seven and eight will be self-contained like they are now correct okay thank you yeah that and so i'm going to
021put emphasis on the assumption right that's the assumption but again right part of this process is to talk about programs and you know how those how those things work other clarifying questions regarding uh how this model works with a tk8 versus not a tk8 um how will no tka impact the capacity of our single junior high oh good so right now if you look at no tk8 right here you will see that the projected enrollment is 1080. if i go to here and i put yes we're going to have a tk8 you'll notice that it's still at 1080. very good question uh miss rogers um that is it's hard to uh to make that determination uh because we we would have no idea whether it's allington whether it's moving a a a middle school whether
022it's uh what what meg was talking about increasing the capacity at some of the elementaries it's hard to to note how many seventh and eighth graders would actually go to the k-8 versus the seven eight middle school um but we do know that that 1080 would obviously drop how much uh we do we do we don't know right now but thank you for asking that question uh because yes you will notice that here 3764 1080 3764. and i guess back to meg i guess that that is a fault here because the seventh and eighth graders are not in this um projected enrollment um so when we add the seventh and eighth graders even if we add the capacity it might cancel that out but but um but i don't know um i have a question
023with a single um middle school uh at this point um foothill do they have the capacity in the locker room to hold 1236 students um without sharing you know they they need to change into pe clothes at pe 10 so let me take that one boss yeah so that would be an item that yes the answer will be yes if this was the direction we will go into and if we needed to increase capacity that would be reflected when we do our budgetary impacts clarifying questions about the model 3 with a tk8 and a model 3 without the tk8 okay um i have two questions uh one question has been brought up to my attention is that model 3 if it should have a tk8 with five elementaries we are showing seven uh all total
024so we're showing six elementaries and a tk8 9 right well no as the in the orange section the model 3 all levels oh up here yes okay yes isn't it according to the model it's supposed to be um five elementaries the tk6 and then one tk8 or am i reading that wrong um can you help me miss sanchez where are you guiding the that it should be five i've been uh made aware that the original model has five tk oh sorry um uh if we have uh add a tk8 wouldn't we take out an elementary according to the model and um so i'll let you go ahead and answer that one and then i have a second question yeah so so here we added the tk right so now i'm gonna take out the lowest
025elementary which would be lee for right now so i'm gonna take it out if i take it out you will notice that my capacity bumps up to 102.1 which means that these schools that are right here the way the way we currently are wouldn't be able to house those kids now to your question though um again if i if i abandon the idea of balington i do have these campuses down here and i shouldn't say i have we have these campuses down here right and obviously one of these campuses can move up here and then yes in that in that situation if we're if we're if we're thinking about capacity then yes an elementary uh would possibly come off of this off of this list or maybe even two would come off of this of
026this list but are true to paddy's point though going back to the original model swapping ellington in and taking another elementary out even if it's leaky you know all of these um projected numbers assume saving six classrooms two for preschool a library a vapor room or whatever and then two rooms just to be determined okay if you took and just had one room to be determined at every one of these sites instead of two you've solved your problem of going over a hundred percent and then you're not looking at having like slauson you you know and this isn't about slauson it's not but about the humongous investment of money that that would cost if you chose slauson to go up and be the tk8 and so really it just seems like the more reasonable solution
027if you're going to keep a tk3 if if is to take and remove in elementary like patty said because the original model said five elementaries one tk through eight and so i guess it's not matching what we originally had seen so that's the question on that and then the second question i have is that um as the position that i hold within the district there is an ongoing uh situation that we have even at the at where we're at with the amount of schools that we have is that we do reach capacity in a lot of grade levels in elementary and then we have of course a couple of grade levels that we have an extensive amount of capacity available what are we going to do if we eliminate even if you put 89 that's
028just a number but it doesn't really it's about the actual bodies because even though we may look at our past numbers there's always a surprise of all of a sudden we get a swarm of fifth graders or uh whatever it may be and maybe fourth graders maybe you know kinder maybe whatever and then we're literally communicating with each other school elementary school wide secretaries and saying um do you have room do you have room do you have room and it's a no no no no no and fortunately we have va that's really supporting us in a lot of this but they're also beginning to show full capacity do has the district considered i mean literally considered that this is going to happen and how they are going to handle it by uh the elimination yeah
029so 1000 whether that's 12 schools five schools seven schools uh that is always uh that is always a a potential but keep in mind um that right now when we say we're at capacity it's that capacity of of staffing not capacity of the building um so for instance if lee says oh my gosh no we're full that is a true statement but they are full to their to their staffing but that doesn't mean that they're full to their building um so so they cannot take more kids because they don't have more teachers to take um so yes absolutely and i think again um in either scenario that is something to to consider um again any questions to clarify how tk how the model 3 works with a tk versus not a tk and and um
030to to kind of just clarify if you have a question a clarifying question around around that i have a quick question to kind of piggy back off what meg was asking about the the tbd classrooms um you have one of the classrooms reserved as a library don't all the elementary schools already have a library yeah so um so so let's go back so every single classroom on a campus um that could be a that could be a classroom was counted as a classroom regardless if it was a library it was a teacher's lounge regardless if it was the rsp room regardless if it was the band room like every single room was counted so then once it was counted then we say okay we gotta put back so it's not like we said oh they
031already have a library let's not count that that was counted so so yes ms jones thank you for that question in that classification thank you yeah any other questions in terms of how how this works again there are so many possibilities and i promise you we're gonna get to that uh but we're just not there yet we're just right now we're just trying to understand you know the tk having a tk not having a tk8 any other questions around that okay um we're just going to take so i just want to reiterate um just so again this is super transparent number one uh when we pulled you last time 42.1 percent of you said that model 3 should not have a tk8 15.8 percent of you said it should have a tk8 and there were
03240 almost almost just under 50 percent of you that said um i'm fine either way number two when we're pulling you right now i i want to i want to reiterate one more time if you say i want model 3 with no tk8 this model right here you are not saying that that you want these schools to be open and these schools to be closed vice versa if you say no you know what i like model 3 with the tk8 you are not saying that it should be ellington you are not saying that these schools should be remain open you're not saying that these schools should be the ones that close all you're saying is that yes you want a tk no matter how that happens at the end of the day you're just saying
033i want a tk8 in this model if you say no then you're saying not interested it should just all be tk 6 7 8 9 12. so we're going to take a quick poll on that uh lika can you help us out yes can you i'm sorry arturo can you redefine what a yes vote means and a no vote means yeah actually uh i think we got a little bit better okay so i think that the poll is gonna there you go should model three include a tka school there you go thank you absolutely um i can't vote voting again yeah we can't vote can you allow only analysts to vote please panelists only let's try this again i'll get the hang of this eventually guys okay can you go now again panelists only i
034still have some panelists that need to vote a couple more seconds can you can you see the pull results yeah is this the final uh yeah yeah that's the final okay all right so uh just really quickly just to go over this data um the team right now um went the opposite direction as the first time which is awesome and perfectly fine and great um but right now uh we have 50 56 i apologize saying that model 3 should include a tk8 and we have uh 44 saying that model 3 should not have a tk8 um i'm gonna open it up uh mute yourself if you would like to respond to this question my question is um does this in in our minds as a team even if you are on the wrong side of
035this um is this enough to say okay let's continue model 3 will have a tk8 option or do some of you feel that that no it's it's too close and we have to talk about this more um i would like some discussion on what i would say was a change in that um because my understanding was there was so many concerns regarding the tk model in the way that it's run so i'm surprised to see it change so so i'm not sure what the recommendation is diana um but um yeah i'm not sure what what you're recommending or what you are saying discussion on why it's more yes now than before when there were so many concerns regarding the way tk8 model was run in comparison to middle school just keep in mind just keep
036in mind though right just so again the numbers don't lie um i wouldn't say that there was so much because even back in the initial poll only 42 percent said we don't want a tk8 so it wasn't even it wasn't even a majority of the of the people uh that said i i don't want a tk8 um so so i just want to be clear on that that even though there might have been conversation about it or whatever when it came down to the actual polling uh less than half of the people said that they do not want a tka and more importantly keep in mind that almost half of the people did not vote one way or the other so you had a you had half of you who had not really shown their
037cards yet right you had half of you that we didn't know if they were for or against the tk8 so based on the numbers i'm not exactly sure that that what you are saying you know holds holds true i agree with you that there was conversations around you know not liking the tk or what you know what is wrong about the tk8 uh but the numbers paint a different story uh the numbers paying attention a story of less than half said no almost half didn't say one way or the other and so now today those half they couldn't they couldn't say i i don't care what they had to say something and so maybe now they're showing right their cards are showing what how they feel and then uh mr ortega if i recall the
038original conversation when we were earlier in this process we weren't being asked to make a decision we were asked to evaluate the model and if there was a but we indicated the butt and this these percentages are just a count on the butts correct not this or that because we weren't asked at that point from what i recall unless i'm my memory is wrong you were you were asked but there was an out and the out was i'm fine either way okay and i will tell you gabriel i'm one of those that voted i'm fine either way and so now after listening to all the data after going back and talking to teachers who have watched um the reorganization committee meetings as well as parents you know i i made a decision then to to
039decide which side of the fence i was going to land on and i will tell you it's be k through eight and that is based on the fact that i think parents should have an option and i as an elementary teacher who has taught first grade and third grade for 30 years i think that there are children that need to have that option that they're not ready for the traditional model and so i i'm one of those i was one of those that didn't vote well i did but i said i could go either way and now you know being forced i made a choice and i think then again so far we've gone with what the majority want unless we need to have more discussion i'm going to i'm going to move forward to
040answer our tro's question and that is that the majority has said keep it in regard to the numbers as you were saying that we're reading the numbers um i i have expressed um that you know according to mine and i have compared it to another school and communicated the numbers aren't as accurate um and i'm just wondering has there have they been double triple checked on that because i do know of like a particular school that um they're utilizing every classroom and they're just about at capacity and their number is a little lower than the number being presented here and if this is supposed to minus six classrooms that school isn't is using every room except for a library and um so if we minus six classrooms from that particular school then they're that number
041is inaccurate that number is a couple of hundred off um so if we so i'm just you know and i only only say it because you're you're utilizing that these numbers these numbers so i'm just a little i just had to bring it up no thank you patricia for sure uh in this whole process um we we definitely we want to be right right we don't we don't want to we we don't want to stick to our guns when something is wrong and so yes we will be triple checking everything so we appreciate that um but i want to just bring us back that regardless of that right regardless of is it going to be ellenton is it going to be a middle school is it going to be add the two rooms back regardless
042of all of that we still have to decide like do we want a tk8 in this model um and again we have to get to those conversations and i promise you we are but we can't get to those conversations until we know what we're going to be conversating around and if we leave all of this on the table then it's going to take forever because there's there's just too many variables so um so meg has spoken she has said that she says hey we've been going with the majority the majority has spoken um i'm gonna allow some space to unmute yourself if there is any reason why you would disagree with that um just one thing uh ellington is the school with our lowest enrollment and so i'm wondering if our community really wants a
043tka or needs a tka and how many of those parents if we go to a tk6 model would we be losing i mean is there any any chance we could pull some of those uh seventh future seventh and eighth graders there and see if maybe we might be losing some maybe we wouldn't be losing some but it does seem to be the school with the lowest enrollment and so we have to consider does our community really want to it or not doesn't need a tk8 or not edna it's not the school with the lowest enrollment this projection is a projection of capacity but their current enrollment is even higher than that so because they're utilizing all of the clap more than the reserved classrooms i see okay that's why i think it's important that we
044don't attach whatever the kate decision is to a specific site because that's going to have to go back to the okay meg i was looking at the numbers yeah okay all right one more time um meg is saying hey the the group has spoken the majority let's move on the model will will include a tk8 again how who when where why that we'll we'll get to that conversation again just going to leave it open for space if there's uh anyone who who thinks differently i just want to uh make a comment um thank you meg for unmuting and and expressing your thoughts um i think because uh we haven't had that much discussion that's what i was wanting to hear like a reason so thank you thank you diana all right uh so hearing none
045uh we are going to move forward with the model three it will include a tk8 again where and how and should it be six rooms or five rooms or four rooms well we'll get to all those conversations um later so i'm going to leave it here again just for the purposes that this is we're going with a tk8 again we're not going to get hung up on on the school sites we will have that conversation we will have that conversation later so now we're gonna move on to our final uh conversation so i'm gonna scroll up just so it could be here uh at the top uh our final decision for for model 3 is if model 3 is going to include two high schools or if it is going to include one high school
046um i want to remind us all that this is only one model of two that this group is considering right i know we've been spending a lot of time on model three but don't forget we still have a model four right that is still that's still a player that's still up for contention that is still something that that that we are considering all we're trying to decide is what this model three looks like so uh since we have not spoken about um about the high schools um let me just even though it might be self-explanatory let me let me walk through it so here's azusa high school and glaston high school on a 24 and 825 here you will see their capacity which is 3768 you will see that next year the projected enrollment is
0472030 uh which means that right now if we were to keep the two high schools they would be at 53.87 53.66 and 52.34 um use of the of the of the capacity um so if we were to go with two schools i'm sorry two high schools right this is it's easy this this is what it is right here if we were to move to one high school um and here i want to uh stop in and and kind of explain you'll see that it says new high school doesn't say azusa high school and it doesn't say gladstone high school and again this is only the first iteration and this team can can think differently and it could be a different outcome but here i do want to credit um this is not an original idea
048of this team uh there have been at least one teacher but multiple teachers uh who have been talking about this for a very long time and when they talk about it they say that it should be a new high school then i also want to tell you that i have been meeting with high school students and i have been telling them about this and i have been saying hey high school students do you know that adults are talking about possibly shutting down a high school high school students how do you feel about that what like what's your reaction to that um and there they they came up with this idea as well so the reason we have new high school here again only the initial thought here is if we went with one high school
049we are proposing that we'd actually would shut down azusa high school and we would shut down gladstone high school both schools would be shut down and instead we would build a new high school now build not in the sense of buildings and construction but build in the sense of a new name a new mascot new branding new identity so that no one feels as if they're they're expected to now all of a sudden be something else and we're not asking aztecs to become gladiators and we're not asking gladiators to become aztecs but we're asking them to combine and and come as one um and um and and that way everyone can rally around uh a specific pride a specific um identity um and again nobody feels as if uh like you know they have to
050go to somebody else's home or somebody else's uh place um so that that is why it says new high school again this is just a a an initial thought uh you will notice here though that this new high school is the high school in 1992 which is currently where azusa high school uh sits so so the property in this model would be azusa high school where the new high school would be located you will notice though that with the projected enrollment of 2030 it does push us up to 101.91 so there would there would possibly be kind of like we did at the new adult school if you do not know at the new adult school we took some buildings from mountain view elementary school and transported them over to the new adult school and
051so at 101.91 that would dictate to to us that we'd have to do something like that maybe move uh move a couple of uh portables uh to ensure uh enough space um but again 2030 is just a projection it could be lower than that uh could be higher than that our enrollment has been going down and so um in in in three years even if we did nothing in that in that building um we would now be under capacity granted only by one percent so it'd be super duper tight but it would be under one one capacity uh so again pretty simple in terms of understanding i know not simple in terms of decision making but the way it works is is is pretty straightforward two high schools if you keep them you are running
052half of their capacity one high school you would elevate to almost full capacity maybe even even necessitating a couple of bungalows um to the to the new site so again at this point in time i want to stop to see if there are any clarifying questions about how this how this works in this model are you also taking out classes um like you took out four for the middle schools and six for the that are we doing that as well with these um capacity you for that question miss fish questions about how this how this works in the assessment of capacity for both azusa high school and gladstone uh i believe that both of our high schools have rooms that are used for different functions and some rooms are clearly bigger than others and some
053rooms are massive amounts of storage right now and i know one of our rooms is an art room and you know how high school looks it's far different from just counting rooms uh how is the physical capacity of azusa high school like when we talk about capacity for students how is that computed given all those different variables that that are are at play in both of our sites so um thank you for that question mr fernandez so just to bring us all back to uh to kind of just reiterate we had a outside audit firm that audited our sites to tell us what those capacities of our schools are again this this is an independent no skin in the game they just want to get paid and do their job um latasha and i then
054went out and physically walked every single campus including the high school since we're talking about that right now um and we calibrated uh in in three ways um as we were walking i kept my own data natasha kept her own data we did not share data with each other as we were walking and then we had uh the outside consultant the outside firm when we were done done walking the campus then we would unveil all three data sets and if they all matched then we were on to the next on to the next uh site if they didn't match uh then we would have conversations about okay where are we where are we differing um and it's like wait a minute the consultant didn't catch this room oh yeah they did here it is let's
055count them again uh so we did we did uh go through not just the the the outside uh consultant auditor but again latasha and i walked every single campus to verify um what the consultant what the inspector or auditor had said and make sure that we either we either are in agreement or disagreement if there was disagreement latasha would reach out to the auditors and say hey help us understand this or where did you get this from or uh to make sure that that again we we had a clear understanding so it was a process um that we went through to get to these numbers um did the process include the information regard i know it's more of a programmatic implication but again it is a program that uses space are our our collaborations with
056outside organizations such as citrus college and such as the well-being center partnership that we have with l.a county because they do use physical space on our campus that might reduce it was that part of your audit yeah and like you said the high school has all shapes and colors and sizes and so there were some some rooms that were clearly not going to be able to be classrooms and so we just said okay that's that's not going to be a classroom so we're not counting this one right here um so so yeah we try to take everything into into consideration thank you yes absolutely other questions about how this works i have a quick question um i know at each of the high schools azusa has the the bi classes and azusa has the early
057college program and and both class you know both campuses offer such amazing programs for all of their students how would that affect and i don't even know if that's even part of this i mean it should be how would all of those combined do we keep both do we pick and choose and i mean it's such a huge heavy it would be nice to have you know my daughters in band it would be nice to have a full band so there's not just four flute players and so i can see the possibilities but then also i just think about the programs and how meshing all that together how would that affect um combining into one high school just if just curiosity yeah so so the way it would work right now is again we're getting
058a little bit ahead of ourselves but i mean that's that's fine um and i appreciate your comments about it'd be nice to have a full band um i i think you can take out the word band and and put a lot of a lot of nouns there um so i appreciate your comment but um yes the idea what right now would be to to continue to offer lots of options to our kids uh but uh but if to your point because this is your question if it's about going to a new high school it would be on one campus uh versus right now uh we they have to be separated out over two campuses thank you absolutely any other clarifying questions are we going to be able to discuss the phasing out of the high
059schools as well um because we're talking about like transitioning over so like for instance allowing those freshmen to graduate from the closing high school so they're not transitioning to the new one so it would i think it would add like an extra year instead of three years we'd be at four is that's on the table for discussion as well yeah that i mean that that again we're getting a little bit ahead of ourselves but yes i mean those are those are conversations and recommendations again i just want to bring us back that we had a five-year plan um right we we as a team collectively uh change that to a three-year plan but anything is possible when we're dreaming and ideating and you know and making recommendations and again to your to your point um
060yes hey board of education just kidding we want three years in this component but for this component we would like to honor blah blah blah for four years uh and again right all we're doing is recommending right our best thoughts and our best ideas but those decisions have to be made at the board level sorry and just to that point when we voted it said transition time we had three choices and the choice was possibly three years so it says i would like the transition plan but it needs to be shorter possible three years so i think even really select three i know that that was presented at a board meeting but i mean personally especially for high school i was thinking a four year plan a thousand percent this is malleable and again we
061can always go back with you know further recommendations questions about how to high schools versus one high school all right i'm seeing none i want to [Music] go ahead and we're gonna move into polling again the poll is regarding model three should it include one high school or should include two high schools lika is that closed because that the final yes sorry i was talking to myself on you uh yes it's the final all right thank you um all right well um based on our previous conversation earlier i'm going to make the assumption that model 3 will contain one high school so now let me recap model three really really quick so when we come to you now we start having now these more robust conversations we have model four which is two seven twelves
062and tk sixes and we have model three now which is a tk six tk8 middle school one middle school one high school model um so that um that is that this is now our jump off point uh to start to get more granular um in in what we do um a point out and then the the the surprise poll um that has nothing to do with um with models uh so number one um i do want to point out uh if you look here on m uh sorry l m and n on the in these columns um actually i didn't change it on this one i changed it on this one only um so let me let me copy and paste because we're not doing that one right now um yesterday the board of education
063received an update regarding the school reorganization uh so we updated them on what had happened last wednesday right and we told them that um this team had decided that model 3 was going to be tk 6 and we told them that this team had decided it was gonna be one middle school and we told them that but we're still not done we have these decisions to be made and you know we started conversating and started talking about that um the conversation started and questions started to happen to say hey it's april 21 well yesterday was april 20th it's april 20th um when when is the board going to receive recommendation from this team and i unfortunately told him that i did not know the answer to that question um i said i do not know
064i this is a dynamic team tomorrow we have some decisions to make and we have one more meeting on the calendar can magic and the stars align and everything gets done uh next week that's a possibility uh but now we're talking about not trying to pick between models now we're talking more robust conversations and so i don't know how realistic it is that in one meeting um not only are we going to decide like sites and how this would work but actually decide or is it model 3 or is it model four um and i said and right now we only have one meeting uh in in in the calendar so we we probably are gonna have to add additional meetings and so to answer the question i said i do not know the concern
065from the board and i think it is it is a proper concern um is that we are pushing up against the end of the year and so the the question of the conversation was around um is it is it right to to not be able to share this decision with families and the community and students and staff as they are preparing to end their school year go to summer and like is that is that okay like and so the conversation started started around the uncomfortableness or just not maybe not the uncomfortableness but the trying to do the right thing and not surprise people and not you know hit them with the decision at the very very last minute and so um i appreciate that um that sentiment from the board and um again i think
066that with the community in mind uh with staff in mind and with this team in mind to not try to rush this and to not try to add you know 14 more meetings monday tuesday wednesday thursday uh every single day to try and get a decision uh the board uh directed uh that we continue this process we don't slow down but that we don't implement until 22 23 because it's not fair to the community it's not fair to our staff uh to to be waiting and waiting and waiting and then not knowing when this decision is going to be made um and so i just wanted to let you know that um that our work continues we're not pressing pause we're not letting go of the gas we have a lot of work to do
067um but it does give us some buffer and some planning time to get ready for that so just want to let you know that um okay here's what here's the the last thing that we want to throw out to this team for consideration because we do not know the answer and when we don't know the answer we turn to you all uh to help us with this this is kind of a chicken and chicken or or the egg kind of decision so now we have two models we have a model 3 and we have a model 4. we owe you pieces now support staff budgetary impacts uh drawbacks benefits programs right and so now now we have clarity so as a staff we can start rolling up our streams and say okay now we can
068get granular and detailed and really start start building that out that's on one hand on the other hand we have these conversations about the schools and what is the best course of action is it ellington is it hodge is it dalton is it paramount it's a valley deal is it slauson is a center right all these conversations around uh location and capacity and you know what makes the most sense and there's a lot of that as well what we're struggling with is what comes first does does it is it more beneficial for for us to take what you see on the screen and do the things that we need to do support staff program drawbacks benefits uh budget and invest all of that time and say okay this is how this model would work but
069then we're going to have a conversation about schools and all that's going to be possibly moved around and now we got to go back to the drawing board for budgetary impact program drawbacks potentials staffing or does it make more sense to you to have let's have instead first let's have a conversation about the schools and the locations first and then once that settles in then we come with these other pieces uh for for consideration um so we come to you um to to help us what what you think is our are the best next steps uh because again we kind of tossed it back and forth and when we got stuck we just said let's just bring it to the team they're smarter than us anyways and so we can hear from them and they
070can kind of provide some clarity on that so what i want to do is i want to take some time to allow for you to unmute yourself and maybe react uh to that question i have a clarifying question not a reaction um when we took the survey before when we were talking about one high school two high school and this was in the beginning when we were doing the survey that you sent us you know through the email and it was you know t k through eight not t k through eight you know i don't care whatever i can live either way that's a nicer way to say it um we didn't assign it to model three or model four and if i remember correctly in model four we didn't apply the tk tk38 option
071but we weren't given that choice so because we said yes to the tk-8 option period are you going to add that to the model 4 now because we didn't discuss that prior to this when looking at the model 4 because you said we were going to deal with that issue when we got over here i'm just bringing it up because it's going to come up at some point when we go back to the model 4 which i'm not trying to do a squirrel moment but it is going to throw a wrench in the in the flow of your final decision sure uh so to answer your question no that was not in my radar to uh stick a a a k8 or tk8 into the model 4 that was not in our radar to to
072think about um again just again we're a team and we can we can dream and do anything we want to um so it's on the original it's on the original model 4 proposal though like patty was saying before you know we looked at the model three it was five elementaries uh one tk through eight you know two middle schools two high schools okay we voted on the one middle school you know and but when we voted tk through eight we didn't assign it to one or the other it was just asked in a general way and so that's why i'm nothing because i just looked back at the original and there was a tk38 in model 4. and and i voted thinking that it was going to be applied to both models because it was
073originally in the layout of both models so this doesn't have to be decided right this second but i want to bring it up because i don't want it to fall through the cracks if that was anybody else's assumption other than mine meg mask a clarifying question are you saying that when you voted it was not assigned to a model no because you had told us originally when when we brought this up with model that we would be dealing with these kinds of decisions later meaning one high school two high schools you know one middle school two middle schools tk through eight or not three years or four year cycle and so i figured that we were going to apply that decision of yes keep a tk38 or not to to both models so i just
074now i'm talking about just now do you understand just right now i thought you said the previous uh survey no i'm just saying when we took this survey okay it wasn't assigned necessarily and in the beginning when you gave us the models the very beginning when you presented them model 4 included a tk through 8 option and you said we would when i brought that up when we were talking about the model 4 you said that when we get to all the variables that we're going to make decisions on that's when we'll decide so i'm just wondering if that needs to be a vote or a discussion for model 4 also and i am one person on a committee of 33 people and if it's just me and i'm the only one tell me where
075to go it's okay uh because i am the minority but i i just want to bring it up so it doesn't i'm just i'm just thinking i'm just thinking i'm just seeking clarity um that that's all i'm trying to do so when we surveyed the email the question around the tka was specifically assigned to model three so the the the the email survey said model three okay um that's number one number two i wanna make sure i understand what you that's your second point um are you saying that right now today on 421 when the question was put out or the poll was put out should we have a tk8 or should we not have a tk8 um are you saying that that that was just for any model yes i'm saying that was my
076understanding okay today but that's because it was my understanding originally that when i asked the question about model 4 and the response was we're going to be making those decisions and those decisions were all inclusive of those but you know what i mean this but that that that we were going to go back and either apply pk38 to model 4 or not depending on what that decision was by the group so i just and i don't i don't want to belabor the process i just and maybe we need to discuss this next time or when we go back to model four maybe you want people to vote again or not but it was originally part of the proposed model okay so really really quick um and again i i'm a thousand percent if that's the
077way it happened then again we're a whole team here and that's fine but i just wanna um i was under the impression that we were talking specifically about model three we have been focusing on model three we were showing model three and we said hey model fours over here it's simple these are the four decisions that we have to make around model three number one is a tk5 or a tk6 number two is that one middle score or two middle schools number three um is it tk8 or no tk number four is at one high school or two high schools uh so i apologize if um um if that if if i'm goofed there in the communication well okay so i'm just gonna ask them are we gonna go back and and and do that
078with model 4 then when it comes to the tk through 8 yes or no decision because we didn't deal with it at that point and again if nobody else is going to speak up or cares about it i'm one person so no i i understand what you're saying meg and i you're correct because i'm looking at a sample of model four it says five transitional tk5 sites one tk8 side and two 612 for model 4 and i think what from wrong meg you can correct me is that we've been working our way to a discussion and then because we voted on four with three that we were going to kind of pick and all that stuff and to have a discussion of kind of working both into a a model if i'm if i'm correct
079you can correct me meg and well no that's my understanding but i i again i really thought yes i i thought that when we got to model four we were going to decide keep a teacher weight or not have a tk38 and so my understanding was from what you had said was that okay we're going to make those decisions later so i guess my assumption is just an inference that when we voted it it was going to apply to both and so that's my own inference and i could be i'm wrong maybe i'm just wrong if nobody else says so but i still think we need to like weigh that option for model four only because we didn't and it was originally on the model and if we were really only voting for our tk308
080and model 3 then we haven't addressed it in model 4. so i don't know how and somebody else yeah i think because i thought they were taking it too so so the original model did include a tk8 but the original model also was a tk5 and a 6 through 12 model and we had discussion that we didn't want that and it was my recollection i could be wrong so just saying but when we switch to a tk6 and went to a 712 we also removed the tk8 that was my recollection i don't honestly remember talking about getting rid of the tk8 i remember talking about whether do we do tk5 tk6 but i'm going back through my notes and it's nothing's there we didn't discuss the tk and that was the whole purpose of it
081we were going to eventually discuss these these were just the i like it because i don't you know but and then it was it was said okay this is great we've got narrowed it down but we will eventually come back to this and we will have a discussion about it before deciding the next step and that was the same thing like with schools we didn't have any idea but we were going to have a discussion you know stuff like that there was a lot of that word discussion uh involved so i think that's what meg is trying to explain yeah yeah that was actually all my recollection as well so that would be um just i mean we could build it out um but that will create a huge challenge with having a 7 12
082um because now you will have a group of students that will go to tka and your capacity now will could either drastically go down you wouldn't be able to project that out what's that i think if we're allowed to be able to ask the questions and have an actual discussion like conversate about it um it's very structured the meetings which is great because we are being respectful of everybody's time but we i think we we kind of didn't start too much with the quorum and if we had something where we there is an actual a talk you know about what's going on i think it would be clear for a lot of us i mean i have been kind of like okay i have to vote i i guess i have to vote if i
083don't vote it i might not you know it may go away that i don't feel comfortable with and i just think it it would be a little easier for all of us to be on the same page thinking i don't know that's me someone put out the idea of uh just handling it right now and just moving to model four and making that decision um again i put out another conversation in terms of uh what what should be next should we start talking about schools or not schools so um i'm fine we can put up a model 4 right now and and make a decision if it's going to include a tk8 or not include a tk8 um or we can table that uh decision uh for for another day uh as well uh but
084again we can we can add a a tk9 we can add uh four six right we can do whatever we want we're a team we get to imagine and we get to dream and we're not stuck in cement um but but again if we misunderstood that then we misunderstood that and and we go back um not not a problem and not not an issue so um i look to someone to make a motion to uh to do something and we'll listen i would just add that that was the point i was trying to make earlier about um us voting without discussion because i think it does change someone's vote perhaps when there is discussion or then now it's not what they thought they were voting on so i think the discussion part is important before
085we vote so we are clear on what exactly are we voting for what could we pull just a soft poll right now if we want to include a tk8 in model 4 or exclude a tk8 and model 4. can we pull that all right yes meg i was voting yes to your proposal uh before before we vote before we before we vote um can i just uh throw it up there really quick uh just to to diana's point and what we're talking about uh right now in terms of uh understanding um so i'm just gonna i'm just gonna throw this up really really really quick yes thank you arthur you read my mind i was just going to ask for that before we vote okay so review that again perfect if i can if i
086know what i'm doing okay all right share screen what is this called copy are you seeing uh the model yes okay all right so just again i want to make sure that we understand what we're what we're voting for so to to the point of this conversation uh there's no k8 listed in this model okay these are all tk sixes up here again this doesn't mean that these are the schools and you will notice down here let me make let me make this just a little bit larger you will notice down here that if we make azusa high school in glasgow high school a 712 the projected enrollment next year they are at 82.54 capacity the following year 81 the following year 77. if we were to a convert one of these to a tk8
087or b move arlington up here or dalton or pal or center whatever it doesn't matter but the moment that we add a school up here that means that right here this 3110 automatically goes down right because then you have seventh and eighth graders up here going to the k-8 and the seventh and eighth graders are not coming here is that 30 of them is that 60 of them is that right now it's well right now i believe that it's only between 60 and 70 because they only have one self-contained seventh grade and one self-contained eighth grade and so hypothetically speaking if you're going up the numbers right now say it's 70. let's just say they have 35 each i don't know if they do or say it's 60. but but max it just to see
088what the the capacity changes if you take off 70 kids yeah i will do that but just just again so we're super duper duper clear um that is with the understanding or that's what the assumption i'm sorry with the assumption that the tk would be ellington right if it's somewhere else and it's a bigger capacity or whatever but but again but let's let's play that out for a quick second and let's say this is uh 30 40. right then it drops it down to 80 percent next year but again that is with a massive assumption that that the tk8 um would be uh would be ellington so this would be sorry this would be 30 40. uh this would be 29.85 oops and then this would be twenty two percent two per two percent essentially
089across the board but but again that's what the assumption that we're talking about ellington and we're only talking about one class if it was a a different tk8 with larger capacity and more room you know it could be more but we don't know we don't know but no matter how we cut it slice it or dice it whether it's a small school whether it's a large school at the end of the day it takes students away from the 7 12 right so i just wanted to show this just again as we are voting and as we're thinking about these things um this um just wanted to show you the data so you can see it and you can understand what adding a tk8 means to this what not adding a tka means to this any
090clarifying questions before we move to the poll all right lika right just waiting for one more looks like all right thank you lika so this is the our largest poll yet of today um so a meg thank you for bringing this up uh b thank you i believe it was miss wilson's perkins who threw out the idea uh so thank you again we do this together and so i appreciate these uh intricacies uh bri uh coming up uh so so now we have we have two models uh do we have it in us to go over just like a minute or two again we just want clarity what what what is our next step again we were trying to talk about this today ad nauseam and literally we were just paralyzed not knowing what is
091better and we said why are we trying to decide let the team decide what they want and what they need and what would be best for them so again does anybody want to uh speak into that or do we move uh straight into a poll or do you want to some time to think about it and then i pull you through email um we we are game to do whatever it is that uh you guys feel uh comfortable and should be the next steps i think we need to talk about the properties before we talk about staffing and all of that i agree with miss jones because there's a lot of things that could change especially with regards to adding that tk8 and 2 into the model 3 and i'd hate for you guys have
092to go back and readjust what you're doing and just have to look at it a second time so looking at the schools first i think is our best option uh patty i think agreed in the chat i'm sorry ms sanchez agreed in the chat i thought was the question going back to discussing about programs first or is i'm confused what the question was the question is do we move into now that we know what the models are do we move into start talking about the properties and the locations and the schools and you know which ones would be best and then once that's decided now we can move into support staff programs drawbacks benefits budget or no no with the models that the district has created knowing that it's not set in stone because you
093haven't had conversation about the sites yet we're going to bring program support staff drawbacks bring all of that to you based on the models that we created and then we're gonna talk about locations but again knowing that if we do it that way the moment that we start moving the locations and we start doing all that then we have to come back to the drawing board and adjust just those things as you guys are adjusting your your thinking okay so can um clarifying question um in regards to programs um just like you said we're not gonna name schools right now um but some programs are attached to schools so would the programs move to a different school or if because we close this school then those programs are closed because i think that affects the
094decision so right now the the we we would not we we don't have the mentality of uh quote unquote closing down programs um so just like uh mountain view the program was moved uh the same we we we're coming with that kind of same mentality and also the mentality of dreaming and growing and you know reimagining uh as well but but uh but i want to reiterate though let's pretend that we did let's pretend that the district you guys decided on the school sites and then we came with the programs it's like wait what happened to dual immersion it's gone oh we shut it down because you guys decided to shut down valley dale so we we shut it down well again remember this is a live input uh let's let's say we made a
095goofy mistake like that then you all as a team can say no no no no we don't want that program to be shut down it needs to be alive and we think it should be moved here so um i want to keep reiterating that i know i sound like a broken record and i apologize but uh there is lots of space here for this team to have influence so right now it's just about you know which conversation is first and i'm looking at the chat and it seems like and then based on the comment it seems like location uh seems to be uh what everybody wants to talk about first uh and then we mister mr ortega oh yes go ahead gabriel um given what the two models that we've developed is as this body
096it now feels like to me that there are clear uh program programmatic delineations that exist between one high school versus two seven twelves i think that that to me is one of the clearest obviously because i'm not here at the high school but just in terms of clarity about how we move forward like there are pros and cons right now to both models so without really talking about um location i think could we have an abstract conversation about these are the pros to this model in regards to the the offerings like what ms jones said earlier the band could be this size versus that size we could have electives here we could develop our ib program at azusa high school or the 7-12 high school at that property um because there are certain things that
097would exist within a 7-12 that wouldn't exist within one high school similarly there would be things that exist at one high school that wouldn't exist after 7 12 and locations is where we're still going around and those are important conversations for sure but like we are by by that decision we're going to get stuck with something but really quick uh mr fernandez i think that you are probably again i could be wrong but i think you're probably like two steps ahead of the game because talking about location um is not a conversation about is model three better than model four um i think that all of us are gonna have to make that decision ultimately uh but i think that the location um um is not about which model is better um i think it's
098about clarifying right um because we are gonna have to get to the everybody in this room is gonna have to get to okay well now that we see the programs you know in a 712 this is what it looks like in a heist in one high school this is what it looks like absolutely but i think that's that's no matter which road we take we have to get to that i i want to kind of propose something a little different and it goes along with what diana said and what gabriel said and it's about programs tied um to our ideas and i say this because when i originally talked to a couple of board members about coming up with a five-year proactive plan you know to reduce schools this is before you ever started this
099committee you know to try and say this is our opportunity to make azusa bigger better brighter the shining um you know castle up on the hill where everybody wants to come right well this is our chance to dream too and and i'm not throwing out i i'm throwing out just something that flew into my mind so hypothetically speaking with what diana's talking about about sites and gabriel's talking about programs and you say okay you took those two schools or some of the schools that are on there and you say okay if we have two 712s and we're not going to have any middle school campuses anymore well if you close down powell and dalton and you added lee to that now you put them on foothills campus that has been totally remodeled and modernized and
100they could be the magnet school where they do steam and vapa and all these fabulous things does do programs and sites need to be tied together in this conversation as the next step so that we're not just voting on one model or the other but what it contains in in program and site because i i want to add to that meg when you're done i'm sorry go ahead no go ahead i'm done i'm done i just it's sometimes and i understand the the interest in maybe separating programs because i know that we are not a district that likes to get rid of programs we like to enhance programs but when you have a magnet school like dalton or powell or the magnet schools that exist and have been developed for that reason to give those
101schools a clear identity that also serves the public you can't really separate those programs from the schools if you if you close the school you the staffs have been thoroughly trained for years to provide that kind of program and create curriculum for the students there that meets that need and and is part of the identity of that school you can't really close a school and then just put the arts program or this science program somewhere else because if that staff doesn't get moved intact all of the training that has been put into making that school what it is is dispersed all over the district and then you have to start over but if you have foothill middle school where you can put all of those magnet programs together and create a fabulous steam school then
102you can just also keep those staffs together and save on modernizing maybe a school that needs to be modernized that could also move there and keep the program intact at the same time yeah so being a super objective listener i think i think we are having conversations about locations um so so um i i mean that's what that's what again because how how do we so again if we came first right and we said all right this is what we're doing this is what we're thinking um right so i think the conversa again i i think i'm agreeing with the majority of people that are that are that are talking and that are chatting that i think having the conversations about the locations um because these ideas are tied to locations um that seems to
103be the the the next the the logical next step um and then once we let's pretend again this team said oh yes we like that foothill idea or no we don't like that foothill idea we want to do this or we want to do that then again we we will then start doing the support staff and the programmatic um impacts and the budget to that and you know all that good stuff um so i'm just going to throw it out there please review yourself if you completely disagree that we should talk about locations next you disagree you do not want to talk about locations next is that tonight or is that a future i'm sorry i'm like doing millions of things right now and i'm trying to listen today you know what it's been a
104day and there's a few of you in here that have been part of this day uh no so this this conversation will be for next wednesday so again anybody opposed to next wednesday we're gonna get right into talking about about locations and talking about again possibilities for both for model 4 and model 3. okay i have a question okay if we and i'm sorry if i'm it's been already said or not but um okay so if we want to start talking about locations wouldn't we need to talk about the programs and be and and know that these locations that we talk about that these programs will be able to be housed at the locations does that make sense it does but again i'm trying to so if if we say no you district you go
105and figure out the programs and the budget and the support staff and all of that we're going to build it on what you have seen so far right so so we're going to come to you and we're going to say okay well we have hodge lee magnolia murray paramount valley dale this is what we envisioned for those sites this is how we're going the support staff is going to look like this and so there's going to be a lot of work to be done with that what i think i'm hearing from this group though is if we have the conversation first about the location and and even when when meg was talking and jenna was talking they really were talking about location and the effects of the of the of where this is going um
106because some some people might not mind their in this room maybe i don't know maybe their top priority is at the actual location of the site and they want to be equitable from north south east west i don't know and so i think that if we're having a conversation about the locations then it is okay for somebody to say look this is why i think it should be this location because then this could possibly be xyz and again we'll be taking copious notes and then once we start really rolling up our sleeves um around that then again we can bring that forward fully developed we move on uh arturo um i'm having a hard time with making all these decisions without really knowing what the repercussions of our decisions are going to be and so
107when we when and if when we do have the discussion about specific school sites and i believe that the specific school site for the high school has already been determined i would like some really hard data of what that would mean for our community and and what what the transfer over will actually be because in in the numbers it looks great but we're assuming a 100 transfer from say one high school to another when really that's not realistic and that's not going to be the case i mean being realistic right and so before we move to send these two options to the board i would like to see some actual numbers from the community to see and to have input from them as far as which of these models would be more feasible for our
108community at this point a thousand percent again we can do anything but again i think that that and this good you're bringing up right now but again that is down the road right as we get as we get uh closer and then i also want to put it out there i'm gonna say one more time nothing that we show today is in cement so i'm so the comment about you know like we already chose a high school uh we put a high school there yes but again this team can affect that and that team this team can say while we disagree with that decision we think that the one high school should be here um and that is perfectly okay and perfectly fine but yes we are we are chasing the same thing miss rogers
109we're chasing trying to be as detailed as possible uh it's just hard to be detailed when we have a lot of different things and so the more we can kind of get clarity on these models um and yeah if this team wants to say okay cool we feel we feel like a good spot right now but before we go to the board we would like to do a survey we'd like to do of staff or whatever absolutely not a problem all right we are grossly we are grossly past our time um i am going to summarize that we have said that next week wednesday we will begin talking about locations uh for both model three and for both uh i'm sorry for both models three and four um if you have questions between now and
110then please feel feel free to reach out start thinking start dreaming um and uh we'll we'll see you next week uh to start again conversing about which way uh looks like for model three what's the best way to reorganize and for model four what's the best way to reorganize knowing that we are not choosing model three or model four yet we we're we're way or we're we're a ways away from that so thank you again i want to reiterate how i uh how much i appreciate your objectiveness how much i appreciate you willing to embark on this uh this journey um and so on behalf of our kids on behalf of our community on behalf of our staff uh thank you so much for everything have a good night everyone
