On behalf of the Board of Education, the Board of Trustees, we would like to welcome you to tonight's meeting, which focuses on our reopening plans

007for elementary schools. Before we begin, we would like to inform you that during this meeting, if you have any questions, please write them in the Q&A section here on Zoom at the end of this meeting. We intend to answer as many questions as we can while we are here live with you. For all the questions we are unable to answer today, we will compile them and create a document, a frequently asked questions document, to ensure that you have answers to your questions. We also want to inform you that the guide you will see today, the video you just watched, and many more resources will be available through our website. There you can find everything that will be discussed today. You can also access this page using the menu and find it quickly on our homepage.

008Finally, we will post the link to this meeting on our social media channels. We're going to send them in our communication to parents next week. Also tonight, we're going to touch on many topics. We're going to talk about our goals, health and safety, preventative measures, decision trees, social-emotional well-being, our learning models, the challenges, the alternative programs we have, and also talk about what the next steps will be. While we've been planning and working on our reopening plans, these four objectives have guided our work. Number one is always making sure that we're following the orders and guidelines of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. That's it. Not only are we following the rules and orders, and they've determined that it's now safe to bring students back to our schools, but we're also ensuring that

009we're maintaining an inclusive, preventative, and supportive school culture. We're establishing health and safety protocols for all our schools, and we're working on communication that is frequent and transparent. This guide was created through collaboration with parents, our union associates, and administrators. And because things change quickly and frequently, we're committed to updating this guide and the decisions included here according to the orders and guidelines. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines are available on our website. You will always find the guide there. [Music] The most frequent guide is the one you will find there. As we have included the guide tonight, we encourage you to talk to your students about the importance of following the protocols that are described in this guide. For example, they must wear their face covering/mask at all times while at

010school. For your information, we will be providing two face coverings/masks for each student. Parents, we encourage you to conduct your school business remotely when possible. This ensures our safety. Please call the office and they will let you know if you need to come in or if you can do it remotely. The presence of visitors to our schools will be limited. There will be exceptions, such as for specific meetings that must be held in person. As well as students and staff, visitors must also wear a mask at all times. Before arriving, we are also asking our parents to check their students for symptoms, and the guide includes what they should be checking for if the student is experiencing or If you have any of these symptoms, you should not come to school. In that case, we

011are asking you to contact the school and inform them of your situation. For options for our community, including COVID-19 testing, you can also contact your healthcare provider. We are also very fortunate that here in our city at Memorial Park, they are offering that as well. Right now, the only extracurricular program we will have in our schools is the drama program. We want you to know that meal distribution will continue, and we will share a little more about that later. Right now, I would like to hand over the presentation to Jorge Ronquillo, our assistant superintendent. Thank you. We are talking about health and safety for students and staff. We encourage self-screening at home for symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, and fever before arriving at school or boarding a school bus. Anyone with

012a PIR of 100.4 or higher should not come to school or board a school bus. Staff members must complete the Symptom Check Form before coming to school. At a district site, temperatures will be taken for health assessment questions at the site's entry points. The Felix campus school points will be designated to allow for social distancing. School sites will have signs throughout the campus to encourage physical monitoring and proper establishment. Student desks will have individual partitions for parent and visitor access to the campus. It will be strictly limited. Symptoms while on the scene or camps: if a student or staff member receives [something] while at school, they will be separated from others. The student's parent will be hired to pick them up and then they will be sent home. Staff and clients will be ensured sick,

013even if [something] is [something] slow in [something] according to the [something] tips. Parents should contact the school principal before returning to school after an illness. Now I'm going to ask Principal Garcia Marina to speak about the area. Good afternoon. I'm going to be talking about personal protective equipment and also about the protocols. We require that all students wear a face covering at all times except when a person While eating or drinking, the use of face coverings is required both indoors and outdoors while on any district property. This visual information and links are available on our district website, which explains how to use these face coverings. We also have visual reminders throughout the school about how to wash hands properly and how to cover coughs and sneezes. Hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout our school,

014both outdoors and indoors. Additional handwashing stations have been installed outdoors as well. Social distancing of 6 feet is required outdoors, in hallways, offices, and playgrounds. We have placed floor markings throughout the school, both indoors and outdoors, to indicate the direction students should walk. These arrows have been placed throughout our campuses. Desks in classrooms are placed four feet apart, and each desk has its own three-sided plastic shield. The use of playground equipment is prohibited at this time. Students two years and older must wear a face covering unless exempt. Students and staff without face coverings will receive a disposable mask to use while at school. This face covering must fully cover both the nose and mouth at all times. Instructional videos are available on our district website. We also have visual reminders about this mandatory use of

015face coverings within our schools. This face covering, as mentioned, may only be removed for eating or drinking. Students will be taught about the proper use of face coverings. Parents are also asked to talk to their children about wearing face coverings, including the importance of not touching the face covering or areas of their face. Parents are also encouraged to send a backup face covering in case the student damages, wets, or soils their own face covering. Replacement face coverings must be sent to the extensions beforehand for approval. All students and staff are required to wear this face covering. Hand sanitizing stations will be located in Common areas, for example, the lunch area in our cafeterias, our reception offices, and other areas located and identified by the district director, will provide face masks to staff, and their use

016is required unless prevented by health reasons or instructional needs. In these cases, staff will receive a transparent face shield as part of the personal protective equipment (PPE) available in schools, which includes the mandatory face masks, face shields, gloves, and gowns. We also have a temperature scanner in each school, and temperatures are taken when students enter the facility. Anyone entering will also have their temperature checked. Each entry point requires this temperature scan for entry. We also have electrostatic cleaners. The district has invested in both Clorox Textile Sprayers and Victor Sprayers, and these sprayers will allow maintenance staff to disinfect our schools more efficiently. These machines use a fine mist of disinfectant solution that is statically charged and then applied to surfaces, ensuring coverage. We will pay close attention to high- touch areas such as doorknobs, desks,

017sinks, and restrooms throughout the day. All our restrooms will be cleaned and refilled with soap throughout the day and will also have disinfectant wipes and sanitizing stations in each classroom. Daily cleaning schedules are being established and have been posted in our main offices. We also have a thorough cleaning that will take place in classrooms and schools when students are not present. Shared objects will be prohibited as much as possible. When this is not possible, these objects will be cleaned and disinfected after each use. High-touch playground equipment will be closed. Breaks, recess, and lunch will be staggered as much as possible to allow for physical distancing. Water fountains will be deactivated. Students must bring their own water bottles to refill at designated stations. Each school campus has two outdoor water bottle refill stations: one in the

018cafeteria and the other two outside the schools. The air conditioning systems, which have already been inspected, have been reviewed, with the exception of two throughout the district, to ensure proper functioning and circulation of outside air. These district transportation systems will have an air purifier installed that has the following benefits: it eliminates bacteria and viruses, helps control allergies, asthma, and smoke odors, and also reduces light loss by keeping the bulbs clean. The ultraviolet system is free of charge and requires no maintenance. In the transportation area, drivers will conduct symptom and temperature checks before students board the bus. Students who cannot meet these screening requirements will not be allowed to board the bus. If a student becomes ill during transportation, they will be assigned to a designated seat behind the driver. Students will sit with one empty

019seat between each student, starting from the last seat at the rear of the bus. The use of face masks is also required at all times when our students are on the bus. Up to this point, our district transportation plans to provide the same level of service to our eligible communities. Drivers may remove their face masks to ensure the safe operation of the bus, provided they are within 6 feet of the nearest passenger. The next area is... Food distribution is provided weekly at the following schools, and only to their students: Mary's High School and the schools for class. For meal distribution, we ask that you remain in your vehicle while in line to pick up this food, and the use of face masks is also required. We ask that you open your trunk when you reach

020the front of the line, and the meals will be placed in the trunk of your car. If you cannot open your trunk, the meals will be placed on a nearby table for you to take. If you arrive on foot, we ask that you be aware of moving vehicles and also notify the staff of your presence. Your meals will be placed on a nearby table for you to take. During in-person learning, we will provide to-go lunches daily when the student leaves school. Students who receive this lunch can also take it. They can also participate in the weekly meal distribution. We have Mr. Jorge Ronquillo. Thank you. Preventive measures as described. We are taking preventive measures to assess our risk of transmission. Below are the strategies we are employing and implementing to reduce the Transmission of by

021bears is important for us to know the community transmission indicators, two key indicators that we monitor closely include the total number and The exact number of cases per 100,000 and the number of positive tests during the last seven days are similarly used by the district to administer tests to students according to the pace of testing. Those showing symptoms or who have not had close contact with the student will also be tested following the district's notification protocol. The district must consider the need for privacy of students and employees while also needing to communicate with potentially exposed individuals. This active article outlines the steps the district will take to contact, restore, and communicate with individuals and the school community. This process begins with the notification to the school or district of a student or employee who tested

022positive for COVID-19. That person is instructed to conduct interviews. This is where contact tracing begins. The person also receives information on resources and the notification of the plan to the school. Employees will be notified by email as required. The district will also contact the public health department as required. What follows is the decision tree for giving students this. This is a tree Decision for students: If the student shows no symptoms or exposure, the student will enter school. If, on the other hand, the student's evaluation indicates symptoms, arrangements are made. The student's parent is contacted via Twitter to pick them up. If a medical provider confirms that the symptoms are not consistent with the young person and the student, the student must stay home as directed by the medical provider. If this student is administered a

023test and the result is negative, the student must stay home until the student is symptom-free. If the student tests positive, then they must isolate for a minimum of 10 days. If the student is not the one evaluated, we treat in this case as if the student had tested positive and has been so. If the evaluation identifies the student who has symptoms that do not match the covenant, then the school administrator will determine if the student should be heard. If the evaluation determines that the student was exposed to the young person and the student is sent home to isolate for a minimum of 10 days. What follows is the tree Decision for staff and if the staff shows no symptoms and no exposure to the cluster enters the plan such school to the district to the

024district on the other hand the employee's relationship indicates symptoms of Kobe night in the employee is ordered not to report to work if a medical programmer confirms that the symptoms are not consistent with young Haitian PNH the employee must stay at home as directed by the medical tester if the employee has been administered a test and the result is negative the employee must stay at home until free of symptoms if the employee tests positive they must isolate for a minimum of 10 days if the employee does not submit to the test we treat this case as if the employee had tested positive and it must be done thus the elevation to indicate the employee with symptoms that do not match young Haitian PNH the administrator of the place to consult with the human resources department

025will determine if the employee should be sent home if the relationship indicates that the employee was exposed to young Haitian PNH the employee is sent home to quarantine for a minimum of This page also links to Southern Maine Team resources. This is a decision tree for both students and employees to develop symptoms on these facilities during the school day. If a student or employee develops symptoms or becomes ill before the school day, the person will be provided with a mask and a medical certificate. They will be asked to stay home until they are picked up or taken to the employee's home so they can return home safely. If the test results are negative, the employee or student must stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever- reducing medication. Parents will inform their

026children at their schools. Employees will be in communication with the human resources office. If the test results are positive, the employee or student must stay home for 10 days and cannot return until they are symptom-free for three consecutive days and have not had a fever for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If a classroom needs to close, student instruction will be online. Your current teacher until you can return to the classroom. Now I'm going to ask Principal Camacho to speak about the area of social and mental well-being. Thank you, sir. We support the mental health and well-being of students through a variety of services, from school wellness campaigns to more intensive support programs. We work closely with partner and service agencies to obtain additional services to support students and families. Social and emotional well-being support and

027mental health assistance are available to all families in the Azusa District through jails. We also work in conjunction with Mick Kinley Transener and For Help Games, who have provided workshops for both families and staff to support the social and emotional health of our students. If you need help, please call Child Welfare and Assistance. Now, let's review the learning models when we return to in-person instruction. We will operate in a hybrid model of in-person and remote learning at home. During synchronous learning at home, students receive instruction from their teacher virtually through a Google MIT. During asynchronous learning at home, students complete their academic work. To maintain the smallest class size to follow the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health's reopening safety protocols, students will be assigned to Group A or Group B. The details of

028this tentative model may change depending on county conditions and guidelines at the time of opening. This series is... This would be the sample model for students in Group A. On Mondays and Tuesdays, Group A will attend three hours of in-person instruction. 30 minutes of their instruction will be asynchronous and will be at home. 30 minutes of synchronous instruction will be at home. For students who are English learners (also called English learners), 30 minutes of asynchronous instruction will be at home. For students who are not English learners, 30 minutes of asynchronous instruction will be at home. On Wednesdays, students would attend three hours of synchronous instruction at home and one hour of asynchronous instruction at home. On Thursdays and Fridays, students would attend three hours of asynchronous instruction at home and 30 minutes of synchronous instruction

029at home. 30 minutes of synchronous instruction will be for English learner students only. English, which is and audio, and 30 minutes of asynchronous instruction for students who are not English learners. This would be the sample model for students who are in group b. For group b, on Mondays and Tuesdays, group ve would attend three hours of asynchronous instruction at home and 30 minutes of non-synchronous instruction at home, 30 minutes of synchronous instruction at home only for English learner students and 30 minutes of asynchronous instruction at home for students who are not English learners. On Wednesdays, all students will attend three hours of synchronous instruction at home and one hour of asynchronous instruction at home. On Thursdays and Fridays, group ve would attend three hours of in- person instruction, 30 minutes of asynchronous instruction at home,

03030 minutes of synchronous instruction at home for students who are English learners and 30 minutes of asynchronous instruction at home for students who are not English learners. The students of the virtual academy or the students of the district's virtual academy of Continuous scare continues to participate in a fully online learning environment. Alternative programs in addition to face-to-face learning include alternative educational programming in our homeschool program. Students from kindergarten through 12th grade complete their work independently. Parents provide instruction, and students check in with a teacher on a regular schedule. The independent study program is also available from kindergarten through 12th grade. Students receive assignments to complete independently and check in with a teacher on a regular schedule. This year, we are offering the Virtual Academy, which is a fully remote program from kindergarten through 12th grade.

031Students are enrolled in online classes at the school level or content area. This program is a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction for any of these programs. If the student is receiving special education services, the Lippi team meets to determine if the assignment is appropriate. Thank you very much, Ms. Camacho. That's why we have a little time to answer some questions here live. So, we're going to call Angelica, who will guide us through that process to see who will go first. We want to remind you to please use [Music] the ID to the questions and answers to put your questions in case we can't get to all the questions today. We can answer in writing. It's Friday, Ms. Ramirez, do you have a question? I think you've moved, we can't hear you. Jones Rica, we're

032going to move on to another person and see if Ms. Ramirez can move on. We're not in this game. So let's go to Christina Pantoja, and so let's go to Thalía. Regarding the networks, I think you have a question. Yes, if you can hear me, if you're asking, it's about what is the reason or the criteria with which you decided to return to in-person learning for only 3 hours. Okay, I'm going to ask the question in English for our people. The biggest question that was made was "making the world a silver lining" by investigating Andrews. I'll start with the answer to that. As has been said today, we are following all the regulations, orders, and guidelines of the Department of Health. So, those guidelines and those orders have limits in terms of how many students

033can be in a room and how they move to Certain things during the day, then taking that information and working with our staff is how the plan you're seeing today was created. That plan of Kraft places with its wealth necklines and you don't argue, fix Darwin back for the Kfor of the event is hi- bred edition is precious. The question is if this plan we're seeing today is only to incite. Then the answer is yes, the plan you saw today is only to scare. It tells Mrs. Reyes that she already knows there are other schools that have plans where students are coming all day, and I'm sure she's correct that there are other districts that are doing different plans, just as there are many districts that are doing the plan we have. For example, the

034district where my daughters go—I have two daughters—they have the same plan we have here in the USA. So it all depends on the city, how those decisions are made. So each district has a different plan. So there are many different plans and schedules across the state, which is a question. New Haven daily when you Gatsby increase English now is pre-print learning Uruguay EFE for Mérida, Yucatán on YouTube. The question is, do we have any idea what the plans are for increasing the time students are in school? For example, right now, the schedule we saw is for two days, and those two days are three hours each day. So the question is, when will they be able to come for four or five hours, or all day? So, in the end, I was going to say,

035but I'll say it now, things are changing all the time in our county. Sometimes they change because of the time. So, according to our Los Angeles County Health Department, they give us these guidelines and orders, and we're going to try to respond in the way we can. But right now, the plans they 're looking at, the plans we have, depending on where we are right now in our Los Angeles County, which is very different from other counties in the state. Thank you. I think this is Jaime González. And now I wanted to ask if we can find the document we were just looking at, the one that says they were presenting this. It was in English, and I couldn't find it on the website. I'd like to know if you could give us a link

036to see where this guide is clearly located. This guide that was shown today, and you saw it in Spanish, but there's also a guide in English, and that one will be online. Let me ask in English, please explain. Juárez, good material books. So, in two minutes we'll be putting these guides on our website so you can find us there. And I have a more current question: until when do we have to decide what we're going to do with the students, whether we want them at home or at school? And also, if we stay or decide that they stay at home, will the teacher change? Very, very good questions. The first question is, when do we have to decide if we're going to return to in-person learning or if we're going to stay with distance learning?

037The elementary schools in our district will be having meetings very similar to the one we're having right now, but those meetings will have details about their campus, right? So, Principal García Medina will have a live meeting, or her meeting will be a little different than the meeting in Fairmount with Principal Flores. Those schedules and meeting times will be made public, and then in those meetings they will begin to give you more details about the next steps to communicate with them. And a thousand people, a thousand thousand, a thousand pardons, but I missed your second question. What was the second question? If we decide to keep the children at home, will I change the lithium toro to the same person? Thank you for that question. Our goal, the goal of our administrators, the school principals, is

038for the students to stay with the teacher they have for the hour. And it's not a no, we can't guarantee it; each classroom and each decision will be different, but the goal, what we are working on, is to provide the opportunity for them to stay with the teachers they have now. And a blanket in one, if this decision we make, if we decide to continue as is and then change it to the one who goes to school, we can do it. We have to stick with this decision to see if we can change our minds. If, as a district, we always want to give opportunity and flexibility for our families, we recognize that this decision is not easy for many people, right? There are people on each side of this decision, so it is likely,

039right? Someone might say, "Well, I 'm not ready," or "I have concerns, I'd rather leave him at home." But after a week or two, the neighbors or family members, or the schools doing a good job, decide, "Well, I'm going to send him." Clearly, after that decision, you communicate with the principal, and they can tell you what your options are and what your steps are. But how do we start here? The goal is to be flexible so that you can have options to change your mind, right? As you said, okay, that's all. Thank you. Thank you. Now, Gira Garcia, I have a question. My son has speech problems and is in school, going to speech therapy, but right now with the quarantine, it has been much easier for him to progress in school because I have

040been by his side. Now he is where these states are, we are with him all the time, trying to help him in everything. That's why he has progressed so much in school. If I send him to school, how much security would I have? Will there be help for him? Another teacher? How many assistants will be available? If there aren't supposed to be any, he shouldn't touch, or will they go? to be independent my kindergarten children Carlos thank you ma'am I'm going to ask that question in English and when you give the answer I'm going to translate it ok the storm of questions and you know that with this action to focus on speech reigned in the edition environment I'm leaving now they finish watching the debut we will suspend gmail it is seen in pension

041regime Jorge Valdés Aller adjacent to its water drive guarantee watch yesterday before I provide internal well they are urgent and I live because someone is the law the one who has margins and be constant finance and how will be providing ring services James Stein show will be king has opinion web of the service what I have to special education services like speech will continue in different ways one way is like before really during the day when they are in class in Salem Salem the classroom for a little while to receive those types of services will also continue and distance services too so right now the plan is that those special education services for the support and success of our students will be working and they will be doing how many people will be helping per

042classroom how many helpers will there be apart From the teacher and how much interaction they will have with the students in my son's case, how much would I trust that they will help him in the class, not the next class, within the class because I've supposedly had meetings with the teachers, he should have someone helping him, but I understand right now with the situation that there won't be many people in the classrooms and so I want to trust the school that they will help him, but I need to know to what extent. There are two issues, Jamenei 2 in education, helping by Charles, we were also at the Wansee Center child conference, the article is serious, people behave, genes, YouTube, sexism, to their situation, not the Kinder Forum Uruguay, Agua Caliente, that portal, to help

043the MLS on this occasion, right now, since we don't know exactly the truth about his situation or the class or the school, none of that, but the assistants who help a student, those types of support, can be in the classroom too, and also my son has many allergies It's very common in this type of person, they're always sneezing, sneezing, sneezing. All of that can affect things. Thank you for that question. Mr. Rocchio will answer that. Yes, thank you for the question. And I think I read a question about how it is in the [unclear - possibly "the betrayals of the [unclear - possibly "dia" - meaning "diabetic" - possibly ...] "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic"

044"diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" "diabetic" " And as they say, can they work with it? Because from what I know, they're going to have this program, so it depends on whether they stay home. So, this is my concern: if he stays home, will he continue with the program or not? Another thing about him is that right now, at the academic level, the teacher has tried to keep them at the level they're at now, which is like a regular class. So, my concern is that even if he's only in class two days a week, which is very little, and seeing three hours a day on those two days, and then what they're going to give them virtually, he'll feel like he's falling behind a lot. Or is there a way you're going

045to work with them so they reach the educational level that this school year should determine? Thank you for your questions. The goal is for the students to continue in their programs, like the program you're talking about right now, the double immersion program. As we've communicated, the best person to answer these questions is the principal. I don't know if it's valid to... Hatch, but at any school, the principals will have these types of meetings where they can answer in more detail. The goal is for them to continue with their dual immersion programs. The only point is that, although the students will only be attending school in person two days a week, on Wednesdays they will be with their teachers remotely. Finally, a reminder that we have a website with all the things we've taught today and many more resources. We want

047to thank our staff who have been working so hard to ensure that our students' return is a safe one. We are excited to welcome our students back to our schools. We want to thank you for your questions today and for joining us tonight. Have a good night.
