amended personnel requisition board report for item 10.6 you can find a copy of the amended report on the homepage of our website under headlines and features so here we go there have been some changes made to it and it's right up there so i will go to see approval of the agenda do i have a motion move to approve i second a motion by board member and uh seconded by board member ariana's any discussion okay let's vote jerry did you want to ask for preferential student votes oh yes please thank you for i even wrote myself a note and forgot it uh student board members this is your opportunity to vote um what we're doing is approving the agenda and what we're going to be doing today so just a yes or no so board

member alex a vote okay and i have imaceus i'm trying to find everybody so you know what in the future jacob v how do you vote yes okay and who is our other board member our other our other board member is destiny contreras but she's just logging in right now so she played yeah okay all right can may i ask a process question are we having one voting member or all three voting we're all gonna we're only gonna have one uh voting board member okay and that's and that's alex all right so we will go through alex i'll write that down thank you okay it passes five zero and thank you shiloh name for clarifying and um our board member srilani um now we'll go to 5.1 items from the floor public comment on agenda

want to share um i live across the street from foothill middle school and i love foothill middle school my kids have gone there my kids went to azusa high but during covid and being home a little bit more often than normally i have time to think and i have time to think about our school districts that i love dearly because um it's our community and it's our future and so um i speak before you to share a vision of something that i see and every once in a while i hear people talk about it but i don't hear people talk about it um in a way where we can get the visual on it so so here i go um because of covid we've seen campuses empty uh we see a new dynamic in education

and i'm i i'm saying i want to say you guys are doing a great job i want to say that the dynamics are changing and there's a lot of things that that we haven't addressed for a while and um that is declining enrollment and so as i speak about this i i speak about a vision that i that i that i see because i know that foothill being in the middle and being one of three middle schools um has the potential to uh be something else so this is what i see i see that as we move forward during covid and during this time of unknown that we really need to make tough decisions and and make decisions about some of our excess property that we have and uh we may even need to consider

um additional cost saving approaches and properties that we hadn't even imagined but what i also see is i see that foothill no longer being foothill middle school but i see it being an addition to azusa high and i've seen this for quite some time and i've shared it with a couple people but i see that foothill middle school becoming a center for performing arts and aquatics i mean imagine for one second we have a performing arts center and an olympic-sized pool we no longer have pools at azusa high and unfortunately we no longer have gladstone high so my vision is connecting foothill middle school with azusa high to create one big high school for our community to attend with top of the art equipment center um aquatics i mean you think about it you you

imagine this think about this we have surplus property what are we doing with the property we need to sell this property and we need to realize that education is changing as we know it and so just imagine for one second azusa with one school and think about what it could look like if we change the dynamics of our current school system thank you thank you miss williams uh next up is christol malio miss maliani you may mute your mic hello can you hear me yes i can welcome miss marlion hello um good evening board this is crystal malian i'm a parent in the district i'm a third grader i'm here to talk to you because i received an email update from the district tonight which part of it read ausd is expanding our 2021 parent

advisory committee plus pac plus this advisory group provides input on the district's lcap this year in addition to our site-based representatives we are adding two members at large to represent african-american and asian-american families if you're interested in being a member at large please reach out to jennifer edick bryant um just want to point out that racism is when you give an opportunity to someone based on their skin color or their outward appearance and limiting members at large to two skin colors is racist i would like the board to reverse this decision it's wrong and it's divisive in our community if the board's actually concerned about solving systemic racism problems i'd like to consider the following things number one pac-plus parents at each school are appointed by principals who ultimately report to the superintendent it doesn't

take a lot of thinking to realize that when the superintendent and principals have more power over who's on the pack plus than parents at large since we don't get to vote on that parents for other committees such as the citizens oversight committee the reimagining committee that we had and the current coven 19 committee are more likely to be on those committees if they aren't on existing district committees such as pac plus or superintendents roundtable there is no at-large parent input into that never have i seen an email asking parents at large if they wanted to participate in any of these other committees that i just mentioned third the board has no space for parents at large to interact with the district cabinet and the board without labor unions present who have an inherent interest in

things like saving their own jobs and cutting programs instead of positions in fact labor unions get to have closed door meetings with all of you and we parents do not as a group the people who really hold the levers of power in this district are the board the cabinet and the unions so if you're really wanting to give parents an equal voice in our children's education to deal with the problems of systemic racism i suggest that you work on these issues instead thank you thank you miss malion okay and our next uh person is yvette kim next speaker hi good evening everyone my name is yvette kim and i'm the new pacer for california school boards association i recently had my introductory meeting with shillonin and i learned a little bit more about the division

and i'm excited to represent you all at csba i just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and let everyone know that i'll be the connection point to csba and especially for smaller districts in the east l.a county division so i look forward to working with all of you and yeah i would love to hear more from the azusa usd school board members in the near future thank you thank you miss kim is there anybody else who would like to speak okay i'm saying that there is no one else uh we will move on to item 6.0 comments and requests by the board item 6.1 comment reports and requests by the board and board member yolanda yes hi uh good evening everyone um i just wanted to report that um i did volunteer my time

uh for the field of glory and um it was nice to that's actually the first time i really went out of my house and cleaned like real people but um the rotary has done a fantastic job we had just a few students from azusa unified also and the rotary committee this year they placed uh 200 flags and they did separate them 10 feet apart um in the past it was double that but because they wanted to be able to have them 10 feet apart you know uh six to 10 feet apart i should say they placed them that way and i'm sure you've gone by then seen how beautiful they look and um i also want to thank um the instructor mary turner with the mocha chorus and orchestra students they played such a made

such a beautiful video um on about the stars mango banner but it was all um i guess that video but maybe it was a zoom a zoom type type of thing where you see a young lady singing someone playing the uh violin and it was very nice and i want to thank the students and i want to thank miss mary turner and i did attend the two compliance teams meetings that they had and the meetings were very well attended by uh someone like uh teachers parents administration principals nurse mlt mr darren howard and and and i'm i'm really glad that they're working together and and and to be able to when the students do return and the staff that they're going to come back in a safe and clean environment and um i did uh

go to the back to school night online that's another thing it's like totally different how they had it online but it was so neat so some had the google meets where some teachers had videos some had um they they spoke to the parent on the camera you know i heard some parents chime in on some of the the schools but uh the three high schools did a fantastic job uh i just want you to know um mr hague the digital media arts teacher at glaston high school you need to see his video it was fabulous i i i i just want you to see it because it's kind of funny but he did a fantastic job he has actually at the end the dinosaur eats i'm just leaving you with that but but it was

really not nice is his digital um stuff that he does online was really nice thank you okay board member cruz gonzalez nothing tonight thank you okay uh board member arianas good evening everyone and it's been four weeks since uh distance learning started and i um i'm sure there's uh still a lot of uh things that uh teachers students and parents we're all learning as we go and we've got to keep holding strong and showing compassion for one another and patience and understanding and addressing the issues that do come up so um i did want to share that i got a chance to uh to go to another district and um attend a ribbon cutting for the edgewood high school in west covina and i was just amazed um to see what they were able to

do with their measure and i can't remember the name of it right now but with their measure money and uh it's uh amazing what they were able to do they have a game room they have a social uh media a room they had um was it a anchor uh like muse area um they had a 20 foot green green screen everything along technology and so it was really neat to see another district um have all these things that are available and um definitely you know was uh wowed but uh looking uh future and you know into our district to see how we can go ahead and obtain those things so um that's really all that i have for tonight thank you thank you board member marianas uh board member greer do you have anything yeah

good evening just a couple one want to share out that um i will be holding a uh this month's coffee next week a week from today on the 22nd uh september 22nd at 6 p.m and so i will uh you can you know save the save mark your calendars uh reach out to me if you'd like information i as always i'll send out emails to to anybody who has reached out in the past as well as share it on social media channels and so any and everyone is invited to come in um and as always i expect it to be just a a rich conversation um with diverse perspectives discussing various uh topics that that um folks are interested in talking about so that will be next week september 22nd at 6 pm the only

other thing i have is um would a suggestion could could we could we look at um at finding a way to formally have have a process to determine how we go about um you know what we do with our employees when with air quality the way that it is um you know a year ago i would have said i would have understood a year and a half ago if there were schools that did not have a pandemic plan a plan in place for what to do if there was a global pandemic but now that there you know has been one i think all schools and school districts moving forward will need to have that and you know something like that in place well in a similar way looking at at fires this you know unprecedented

fire season and expecting that you know this kind of thing could ever happen again not only now but ever happen again um it'd be wise i i believe if we had a system that kind of communicated some guidelines to to share a spectrum of how we respond whether it's with you know employees outside with students you know if we're back on campus just just how we do based on what the air quality um scale is and what that spectrum is as opposed to making decisions um you know kind of on on the day each day but but having those uh communicated ahead of time so if we could develop that and or or if it's already you know in someone's mind or on paper somewhere if we could find a way to formally share that

out um to employees and our community um i think that would be wise i i don't i wonder if it's something that we we would need to discuss at a board meeting maybe ever at some point um to bring it up but i i don't necessarily know that it's urgent that we do just that we get something out um uh relatively soon okay thank you board member greer and um i have heard wonderful things about things being a little bumpy but smoothing out and i've had people reach out to me and say what a good job that everybody is doing in the district so could use to everybody across the board and that's about all i have to say so we can continue moving the meeting um item 7.0 comments and reports by the superintendent

cabinet student board member so we would start with our student board member alex do you have a uh uh president uh bibles bogo if yes i may you may thank you uh so members of the board um i would like to formally introduce a new system for our board meetings and our student board members as you can note tonight we have all three student board members present and they are all three going to have an opportunity at each regularly scheduled board meeting to give us an update about their site after each student board member gives their their update and has that space to speak two of the student board members uh will be excused um and the one student board member who has been selected as as the official board member for the for the

triad or for the trimester will stay along for the entire board meeting as always as they rotate those responsibilities each time again two will be able to [Music] to sign off and one will stay behind for their official uh duties um this is something that we're trying out to give students and schools a platform and a voice um so with no further ado um if it pleases the board we if we can start with the student board members i'd like to introduce uh jacob vasquez uh from azusa high school hello everyone my name is jacob vazquez and i'm the student board representative for asusa high school so some bright spots about what's happening on our campus is first off we had a successful back-to-school night event last night teachers prepared powerpoint presentations and conducted q

a sessions for all of our aztecs our gym bleachers are completed and looking great teachers and students are learning new technology strategies every day to engage in their learning leadership students record weekly announcements to keep aztecs updated on school activities our football field is coming along nicely with the laying out of the new turf we have our wasp virtual visitations beginning september 28th we have been having successful cafe aztec meetings with our parents our parents attendance rates have been up compared to last year and lastly also leadership students have continuously been putting on school spirit weeks to keep students engaged and have been giving out various prizes such as ubereats and much more and that concludes my highlights thank you thanks jacob uh i'd like to introduce destiny contreras from glaston high school destiny if

you can hear me you are on mute um okay i see her in the room uh but she might be having a little bit of difficulty so let's give her a little bit of time uh why don't we move to alex arkenberg from sierra high school good evening board members and superintendent ortega sierra high school has been off to a great start the two days before school started all students received a backpack with their books and supplies the office staff has been really helpful with getting students registered and into their classroom last night we had a success with our first virtual back to school night on top of that mr stout miss wayne and miss sainz met virtually with parents for their first coffee with the principal this morning this year we added a video

production class to our master schedule fortunately i'm enrolled in this class and we've already learned a lot in the past few weeks we have learned terminology and reviewed videos to familiarize us with video production i'm excited to share more information about the progress of this class of the future board meetings thank you alex and it looks like um destiny might have been having some uh technical but technical difficulties because i saw that she is no longer in the meeting uh so we will make sure to um get uh what she was gonna say and uh share that out so so thank you uh and thank you students again as we talked about as we chatted um you're more than welcome to stick around to to hear the meeting but we understand if you have to

attend to other things uh so thank you jacob and uh thank you destiny destiny just reached out to me right now um and she did say that she is having a little bit of difficulty uh so she apologizes for that um okay so if i can move on to um my report um i do want to share that we did have our first uh superintendent parent roundtable uh this month and i just wanted to send a big thank you to all the parent representatives that provided a really good updates some really good feedback and questions at our meeting and i just look forward to this continued partnership and collaboration i have requested from all of the school sites that they please invite me to a coffee with a principal parent meeting these meetings typically are

more informal in nature compared to like a elac or a school site council meeting um and the objective here is just for me to have an uh an opportunity to formally introduce myself uh to the parents of that particular site uh to provide an update of wherever we may be at that particular time and to be available for questions that might be lingering uh with parents uh so i do want to give a thank you to azusa high school and to sierra high school uh to their staffs and for their parents for allowing me to attend their meetings and spend some time with them and i look forward to attending these meetings with all of our sites yesterday as was highlighted by by some of our students here tonight we had our high school back

to school night as did longfellow as well i was able to walk into almost every single classroom at all the three high schools and say hello and listen to all the presentations and parent conversations uh a big thank you to to the teachers the high school teachers uh who had as mentioned earlier powerpoints and flip grids and google slides to engage emojis to engage the parents and give them an insight into what's happening at the school sites at longfellow when i joined their back to school night they had over 80 participants in the room over 80 and they were getting an update about longfellow and the programs there so thank you for that lastly to to kind of build on board member guru's comments um i do do want to take a little bit of

time to give an update on the bobcat fire uh currently uh that fire uh has grown to more than 41 000 acres uh since september 6 and currently it is only at three percent three percent containment uh and is currently being tended to by close to one thousand firefighters we know that the fire currently is moving west away from azusa uh but it is causing some parts of monrovia um bradbury altadena duarte pasadena to go under evacuation notice and we also know that uh two areas uh arcadia parts of arcadia i'm sorry not all of arcadia but parts of arcadia and parts of sierra madre were under mandatory orders it is expected that this fire will not be in full containment until october 30th that's a long time from now uh as a result of

this uh fire uh smoke uh is contributing to poor air quality throughout the region and smoke advisories are being updated uh frequently on the hour even sometimes before the hour there are six levels of air quality ranging from good all the way to hazardous uh and because of this twice uh once on friday and once yesterday monday uh azuza was moved into the very unhealthy level uh and that did prompt us uh to send uh employees home uh for the rest of the workday uh to note both monday and friday um the time that azusa was put into the very unhealthy level hovered somewhere between 130 230ish somewhere around that time today azusa did not reach that level but to board member greer's point that is a topic of conversation that has already been broached

in terms of preparing for uh this potential in the future uh so that there is not confusion uh amongst staff and uh hopefully um not but the potential with uh students and parents in the future as well thank you okay destiny is back so all right destiny yeah so destiny if you'd like to give your report hello um with the start of the new school year gladstone high school is proud to say we are adjusting to our new setup of online teaching the three themes for the year are well-being engagement and feedback our teachers and staff have prepared for our back to our virtual back-to-school night on september 14th showing parents the new ways of teaching their students online and what we are accomplishing in our online classes many teachers created videos and bitmoji classrooms

to create welcoming environments for our gladstone parents our asb students are working on keeping everyone uplifted and informed via instagram and email september 6 through 12th was suicide prevention week on a daily basis gladstone students were using social media positively to reach out to students who may be sad confused and not know how to deal with their feelings our students are encouraging them to talk to someone and letting them know that we are here for them four of our senior students have signed up to be pool workers for the upcoming election and we are eager to see them become involved in this very important election thank you board member student board member destiny and okay continue on gentlemen and lady this is board member uh president of bible vogel i want to just say um

that i want to thank the board for their leadership and also express my appreciation to mr ortega mr ortega for his uh role as our superintendent and for these first couple months i also want to share my sincere and deep appreciation for all our employees who are working during these unprecedented times um and i also just want to make a comment regarding the students and their um their roles that they're they're saying and the comments that they're saying i really really appreciate hearing the students voices in the manner that they're speaking today so great work students great work team good evening i also had an opportunity to attend back to school night last night at longfellow and all of our high schools i had an opportunity to see the presentations and also have an opportunity

to talk to many of the teachers it was a it was a joy to be able to visit their classrooms and hear the parents and students interacting as well as just talk to some of our teachers as well when they when they had a minute to talk to me some of the some of the themes that that came up as i had a chance to interact with um our teachers was that um as uh that that they really are um adapting and learning all this new technology as it's been mentioned things like flipgrid and nearpod and jamboard and um it was really encouraging also to hear um teachers talk about the things that they're learning and using and and how they'll be continuing to use those when we return to our our school classrooms the

other um the other piece that came up just in terms of trends and talking with teachers is that as the teachers and the students are becoming more comfortable with this format um and the different you know technologies that that student engagement and participation is increasing and so that was really encouraging um to hear as well at case in point i was invited last week to visit a music classroom at um aziza high school and um the class had several different breakouts and so there i think there were probably five or six breakouts with maybe um just a few students in each one of the breakouts um and the students had engaged in a close reading of um very rigorous texts around neuroplasticity and um and the brain and so they were engaged in discussion and

using jamboard but probably the most notable as as i was able to observe some of the breakouts was that the discussions were student-led and facilitated and so that was really exciting to see um the leadership and the students really taking that initiative and um and moving the conversations forward and truly facilitating the discussion so just wanted to share about that so i'm appreciative of just all the work that's being done and um and the opportunity to be able to continue to talk to teachers and visit classrooms thank you good evening i'm happy to announce for the business side that our high schools both high schools turf field project is underway we have evolved from the breaking ground phase for azusa high school we've already laid down three layers of material which we i provided pictures

and they're available to see if you drive by you'll see the field as well as the track it does need 30 days to dry and set um we thought the project will be two to three weeks ahead of schedule and that may still happen but um due to air quality they have to have work two half days and i both locations for glaston high school um we finally got our soil testing back and so we will be starting the contractors had the green light as of last week to move forward and land out materials i'm also happy to announce that our nutrition service meal distribution has been ramped up on monday morning we actually had a line of cars this is a high school at all our locations unfortunately our afternoon service at the high

school was halted due to air quality but i'm happy to announce that tomorrow we will have a makeup mill distribution services in the morning thank you okay thank you everybody and now we'll move on to uh item 7 8.0 report in action on closed session matters there's nothing to report next we'll move on to 9.0 general functions 9.1 covid19 update board president i would like to kick off our coven 19 update uh with the short report out um i have been working with our labor partners and um as was as the board passed last uh the last board meeting the mou with aea was was passed to today's board meeting you will have before you the afe mou and then i'm happy to report that we are reaching agreement with csca on our mou with

uh regards to return to to work um so that will conclude my cover 19 update thank you i would like to provide two updates for uh covet covid19 tonight the learning continuity plan is on the agenda for approval and i would like to thank dr jennifer edick bryant for her leadership and collaborative work on this plan we've incorporated the feedback from the board of education the los angeles county office of education as well as different resources from californians together ed trust west and all of these different the feedback and the resources have um really added to the improvement of the of the plan and the changes have been highlighted in yellow just a couple of um of highlights from this um we've included clear statements about the plan including both learning loss mitigation funds and

our supplemental and concentration funding um better descriptions of our covet 19 compliance team and the collaborative planning for the transition to in-person learning actions that contain several areas of expenditures were broken up to provide better clarity and transparency better expanded information in terms of additional student support such as tutoring and additional curricular resources individualized student support for our emergent bilingual students foster youth and we're really excited about um our new parent of the aziz apparent learning network that we are establishing um to provide just additional uh support to our family so we're excited about um giving you more information on that and just again focus on interventions uh for students during the day after school and really using that data to determine um what those needs are for students so we're looking forward to working

with our principals and our staff to further develop and implement this plan a second update i have is on think together so los angeles county expanded learning programs that are funded with aces and 21st century learning and ass assets grants are now permitted to operate on campus and in person under specific directives regarding public health and safety as outlined by los angeles county department of public health so think together has put together a proposal to provide in-person learning hubs to um about three a little over 300 students across our schools they have provided a very comprehensive plan that details safety and they would be including academic support throughout the day um and we are reviewing the components of the proposal and actually mr gary creel who works with think together is working with them to

look at the plan implement the plan and to really take a look at their protocols to ensure the safety of our students and staff as as we look to to bring this to our door schools thank you very much all right and our covet update for business our mlt team under the direction and leadership of mr darren is working hard to get our classrooms prepared for the hybrid model right now what we're doing is we're measuring um six feet apart for our desk in our classroom from the screens from the teacher desk and removing all excess desks to create learning hubs and our multi-purpose rooms cafeterias our libraries additionally we placed a order for district wide air vehicles air filters i'm sorry for our ac units so that way we can ensure that we have

the quality grade air filters as recommend recommended and as those are received we will begin installation of those thank you thank you and uh for my covet 19 update um on wednesday september 3rd which was uh just under two weeks ago the los angeles county department of public health uh updated its reopening protocols for k-12 schools uh and the update included uh quite a bit of things but i want to highlight just uh some some kind of important things um for for everyone so the biggest one was that um they provided permission to offer in-school services for small cohorts of students that have ieps and students who are english learners who are in need of assessments and or specialized in school services and that that permission could start and those services can start as early

as september 14th uh which was yesterday in the uh specialized services realm uh they did stipulate that those specialized services could only uh be provided in in two ways uh a you can provide those individually to students or you can put you can provide those specialized services in cohorts and those cohorts could not be more than 12 students and no more than two adults for a maximum number of 14. there were some uh stipulations uh in in terms of if a student had a student support assistant uh or some kind of adult uh per their iep um that that adult could not count as the two supervising adults but that it would count towards the 14 so depending on how many students and how many adults you cannot cross the threshold of 14. the update

uh further uh went on to uh say that specialized services may include but not limited limited to uh things like occupational therapy speech and language services behavior services educational support services or assessments again those are some examples that they provided but did stipulate that it includes those things but are not limited to those things furthermore they said that in order to do this we have to make sure that the number of students on campus at any one time for these specialized services could not exceed 10 percent of the total student body population and that we could that that we have to be able to fully implement the reopening protocols and also the protocols for coven 19 exposure management so a we cannot exceed the 10 b we have to be ready to implement the reopening

schools protocols and see that we have to be ready to implement the protocols for copin 19 exposure management uh just as a footnote here the 10 total student body that is per site so that's not a district 10 that is a site 10 percent based on your student population and because we just heard an update from dr dana mitchell regarding think together uh this 10 percent is for these specialized services so there can be uh instances where there are more than 10 students on the campus uh because for instance there's a theme together program uh going on um they uh stipulated that if a district wanted to move forward with this uh that we had to fill out to the lasagna to the los angeles department of public health a notification form to let them

know about this because of this new update that we received on september 3rd i wanted to kind of give you an update on our kobit 19 compliance team uh originally when we created this team uh we had decided that we were going to meet every other friday um but we have now ramped that up and we are meeting weekly now um number one number two we're also changing the process of our work uh the most important piece or the most important change is that we are sending updates to the team prior to our meetings so that they have an opportunity to to look at the updates and to begin formulating uh questions uh or feedback uh internally a staff is also meeting multiple times a week to address uh the los angeles department of public

health protocols uh and although right now we cannot provide a date of when uh we might in azusa be able to uh and be ready to to implement this option um i do want you to know that i want you to know that we are working as quickly as we can inco in collaboration with our staff and with our parents and hope to provide uh an update uh uh to you soon thank you okay um are there any questions or discussion does anybody have any questions i'll just i'll just add that uh grateful i've heard as i've heard from a handful of parents especially some of the some of the parents who reached out on the on the front end of the semester and were describing some of the challenges that they were having um

have just just heard like a um pretty consistently that that things are going so much more smoothly um like and there there of course are still challenges with some of our our parents who have students with special needs and so you know that's why we're having this conversation and the information that you shared um as as well as some of our our students who are much younger i'm still hearing that there of course are some challenges there but um still even with even with you know describing some of those inherent challenges um i i hear nothing but but gratitude for for how well things are going so that's just a testament to uh your leadership um superintendent ortega um dr mitchell your your the work that you're doing just across the board and that goes

down to principals and uh teachers class and support staff you know all the way down so just want to say thank you um the hard work this is hard but the hard work is paying off and so just grateful for for everyone i think yolanda was trying to say something but froze oh i'm sorry i didn't see her okay okay thank you uh no i i want to chime on what my colleague said and i have heard great things and i want to thank dr dana mitchell because i know that i have bugged her enough about different things and she's on it like right away and even um superintendent ortega you know i'm like whoa already well that's too quick for me right but you know what they're a great team the the staff is

working very well with administration and i think that it's a great team and i really appreciate all you because i know it's a lot of hard work including the classified employees that are um you know i'm seeing the lawns being mode still and i'm seeing this children getting fed um rain or shine doesn't matter how hot it is and yes i want to thank everyone for for continuing working together and and for all their hard work and dedication to ausd anybody else have anything okay one uh sorry one other thing as we're looking at covet 19 for this is this is more for us as a as a board i know that we are going to begin having some of the conversations uh you know about about returning and and what having some in how

you know on-site instruction you know could and would look like for certain uh subgroups and as we're having that conversation i think it's important that that we also as a board uh be begin to have some conversation on what it looks like for us ourselves um you know what steps need to be taking for us ourselves to hold meetings in person um and and i suggest that we just kind of start that conversation only because if we are going to get to a point where we're going to be asking some of our other folks to be coming on campus then i think it's that we also need to be um leading in that way as well and and taking some of those steps so um it would be good to have some of some beginning

conversations on what what steps need to happen at the board room and for us as a board to begin to have uh on-site board meetings i fully agree with you adrian our board member greer does anybody else have anything okay so we'll move on to item 9.2 introduction of student board member mr thank you board president bibles vogel um i have invited uh ken stout principal of sierra high school uh to give us the honor and give us a a formal introduction on alex arkenberg good evening can you all hear me yes okay good thank you good evening board members cabinet and superintendent thank you thank you for the opportunity to formally introduce to you the uh student board member from sierra high school alex arkenberg as he mentioned earlier he is a student in

our video production class but beyond that in the last year that he's been with us we've seen tremendous growth he is in our ap studio art class and also our ap government class so he's taking two ap courses and he's working really hard and we're really proud of him for that when i got the email from mr ortega for our school board student uh representative alex was the first student came to my mind but you know still being kind of new over there i thought let me check with ms wyand our counselor and she said how about alex arkenberg and i said that's what i was thinking then we went to uh gary lambright who is his ap government teacher and uh mr lambright said have you thought about alex and so with three of

us we thought you know that speaks a lot about his character uh we've seen growth in this young man and we're really proud of him and the work he's doing we think he's going to be a great representation and a member of your team for the next few months so uh thank you for the opportunity to introduce him and so that's alex arkenberg the only thing i might add just logistically is that alex again as our official student board member and he'll be with us uh through december thank you like to say anything um student board member arkenberg i just like to say thank you for giving me this opportunity i'm looking forward to it it seems like a really fun experience thank you okay i'll also sorry i gotta i gotta add because i've

known alex uh for a few years and have have been in a number of group conversations with alex and um alex i got to say you you have definitely asked some of the most challenging and thought-provoking questions um of any maybe one some of the students i've ever worked with and so uh colleagues i guess uh i wouldn't be surprised if alex threw in a a curveball threw a curveball at us every once in a while because that's just kind of how he ticks and operates and and just excited to see you here so congratulations alex that's good i like that idea i like them you know that's the whole idea hey anybody else welcome alex to the meetings and i hope that you're able to learn and take away um as much as you

can and learn from uh from all of us from the great things and our mistakes and that we're able to empower you for your future endeavors thanks welcome thank you i look forward to it okay now we'll move on to item 9.3 the 2019-2020 unaudited actuals financial report and 2020 2021 budget updates thank you for president uh fellow board members and superintendent and my fellow cabinet members miss kathy are you able to display the presentation as that is getting loaded i would like to take this opportunity and thanks my business team especially our director of physical services miss magna for as the report that's presented to you is a correlation of hard work of an entire department and division um and this work could not be done without the team so i want to thank

them for those tireless work and responding to my emails and answering all my questions being the newbie here all right next slide please so the purpose of the unaudited actuals are basically to outline exactly how from estimated actuals in june how we actually ended 1920 um fiscal year this is a requirement for all school districts in the state of california to complete this report and have a board approved on before september 15th and submitted to los angeles county office of education um to me this is our grade to say okay hey we set this at estimated actual this is how we finished this is letting you guys see how we came up with our projections but to solidify our work that we feel we have done great on our auditors will be in front of

you but on it before december 15th to give you either a thumbs up or thumbs down to say hey they're on it or hey these are some things or recommendations that we have to look forward to next slide this is just a pictorial vision of how the budget process works for all school districts right now you see this is september so we're at unknotted actuals um then we'll have first interim in december as well as the auditors will be in front of you as well on our before december 15th um validating our unknown actual numbers next slide please so as i stated um what i'm going to my goal tonight is to only talk about estimated actuals to unaudited actuals and give you a comparison to say hey this is what we presented to you

before with adopt a budget and this is where we're ending at now so as you can see we had a change in revenue a drop of 2.2 million dollars and before we all gas to say where did the money go um let me elaborate so we had a change in lcf um lcf funding and that was due to a prior year adjustment our federal revenue though we have a drop in of seven hundred thousand dollars that's not a lost in revenue but for most federal programs if you do not spend the money the money has to be deferred to next year so it's not that we didn't receive it but you only could account for revenue you actually spent so now that money is now part of 2021. for our state revenue um we had

a change in state revenue same thing it was just money that we received that did not get spent our local revenue the reason why we have a change in local revenue we projected um for redevelopment money that we were going to receive 1.3 million dollars um but our adjustment that we actually received was a million but that money has now been transferred to fund 40. so we still have that money but it's now just been transferred from general fund to form fund 40. so that accounts for the 2.2 million change in revenue next slide here is our expenditures again comparing estimated actuals to unaudited actuals we had a savings and expenditures of 2.8 million dollars so that's like hey yeah we did our job but this is actually expected so we expected to realize some

savings due to closing physically back in march so we had a change in expenditures for staffing both classified and certificated this is tied to hourly assignments overtime tosa vacant positions that we may have not filled that realizes savings for books and supplies and this does not mean that we did not purchase a curriculum adoption this just means that we have budget expenditures in place that we could not realize because of the closure um and that equates to the 2.8 million dollars next slide and i apologize thank you so here this is just to show you a change in any fund balance so we had a drop in revenue due to the referrals and we also had a savings and expenditures so with that savings that has a net effect of three hundred thousand dollars approximately

which now becomes a increase to our beginning fund balance for 2021. next slide so this is to give you a depiction of actually our contributions for 1920 so for special education we projected we're going to have to contribute 13.4 million we only have to realize 13.1 million for routine restricted maintenance we projected 3.6 million we only had to contribute 3 million and the one that i'm most proud of is for our nutrition services we projected we're going to have to contribute 1.1 million dollars and we only had to contribute 131 000 and that is a true attestment to our director of nutrition services maria and her team and their hard work and our goal is to continue on that um on that road to have zero contribution to nutrition services that is our goal um

the next a large change um is for our capital outlay so this is um prop 39 money you'll actually see this on later in the agenda i think is 10.10 well we received prop 39 um for 39 projects that were approved but the district what we did is we spent other funds like measure k funds or general funds for these projects and so those funds are still sitting there under guidance of our auditors they recommended that we move those funds from the general fund to fund 40 capital outlay so the money is still here but it was just transferred overall next slide so this is just to show you um for district ride all our funds how we came out on our projected for spending this is not revenue this is just a projected spending

so for general fund we projected 114 million we spent 111 million adult education 2.7 million they spent 2.1 um child development it shows that they spent more but i want to be clear that it does not mean we had to make a contribution but child development they have a reserve meaning they have extra funds that they can expense throughout the year and do for 1920 they did tap into those reserves next slide now i'd like to give you an update for 2021 and my goal here is to just let you guys highlight everything that has changed since you adopted the budget back in june so from june what we found out now is our cola is zero percent for 2021 another great thing is we're going to be um held harmless of any drop in

ada for the next two years so that means the funding that we receive this year the funding levels will be the same for 21.22 there was a change in purse contribution and it's displayed there the next change is our cares money that we received at adoption it was not budgeted for the amount that was going to be received and we are projected to receive 12 million dollars in cares and that's both combined of state and federal in our deferrals we are now projected to have five months of deferrals and what's significant about deferrals is that deferrals are not budget deferrals impact cash so this is just telling us that for the months of from february to june there's a possibility that the cash that the state is supposed to send to us it will be

deferred so it could be that the money we're going to get in february we won't receive into may we're still going to get it we just won't get it the month that it was due next slide here is to show you a change in revenue since adopted so as we stated at adopted we did not project out the flat funding we projected out having a deficit in our lcf funding formula so now we're going to realize a change in revenue of 6.7 million dollars um federal revenue 9.2 that's tied to the cares money that we're receiving and state revenue 646 000. next slide um this is to show a change um again just for a local control funding formula only thing that is changing is our funding per ada for the 21 22 school year

you'll see that it's the exact same thing for 2021 because we're going to be held harmless next slide this is to give an overall um view of exactly of all our cares money that we're going to receive as well as the current projected spend by date so you'll see our two largest lump sum of money is part of the learning law so that's 8.7 and prop 98 combined is how we get the 9.2 that has to be spent currently as of today by december 30th there is legislation on the table to try to extend that but as of right now if that remains the same we would have to spend 9.2 by december we have our s for funds um that's 2.4 as well as our gear funds and of course our motto would be

to spend the funds that we receive first that has a current expiration date and then we'll go forward next slide so here this is to give you um to put a dollar value to what the deferrals of five months would equate to if it all hit at one time that would be 24.6 million dollars but as i stated that's for the entire five months right now we have february february could just come in march we don't know when we just know that the total amount of referrals equate to 24.6 million dollars but it's over a five pair span it could be that um income tax revenue for the state comes in great and we won't have to realize any deferrals but as of right now what's budgeted and planned for is five months of deferrals

next slide here is to show you a change in expenditures from that adopted from what we have now um this change of 1.4 is tied to us actually budgeting the lcap so we had some hourly expenditures that was not budgeted adopted and now these have been put in place next slide here this is to give you a depiction of a change in our purse rate what's real important here is just to realize the yellow highlighted section so since 1617 once our rates start to up increase our contribution towards spurs and stirs have increased from 2.3 million 3.3 million and 5 million dollars so just to put that in perspective of if those rates did not increase over those periods of time that would be money that we can actually do more great things within our

district next slide here is our three percent reserve so before and adopted we were chasing some big numbers um adjustments that would have to be made in order for us to maintain solvency and so we went from having a need of a 3.5 million dollar adjustment in 21.22 to only a 5 million dollar adjustment and these adjustments as you can see we have more money we receive more funds right now but these adjustments are basically saying based on this slide if we were wait to wait to 23 24 we would have to make a 13 million dollar cut adjustment in one year to avoid that we want to be sympathetic uh uh methodical about our process and break that 13 million dollars up over a three year time and by doing this this will help

us to stay farther away from the classroom create more creative ways such as increasing revenue minimizing expenditure it does not have to equate to a layoff but if we take time to do it that's how we do it but if we rush and haste and wait until 2023 we know 85 percent of our budget is people and that's gonna be the first thing so our goal is to figure out how we could plan this out to ensure that we're doing everything we can possibly on our end to be creative and wise so that we can make sure our great employees don't have to be impacted next slide here this is just giving you a visual of what it looks like for our reserve right now um in 2122 um we are banking on 13 13.7

million then 14.2 million then we are going to drop down to 9.9 million and by 2324 if everything remains the same we would only have 3.6 million dollars in our reserve and what's significant about that is our average payroll for one month is over five million dollars so that means that we actually allowed our allowed ourselves to go to this trend to only have a 3.6 million dollar reserve and let's just say we were hit with another um coven 19 it'll be coveted 24 and we were not held harmless that means we would have to figure out how we're going to handle this and we would only be able to make one month's payroll as things stand as it stands right now next slide and right there i know i talk super fast but i

will take a breath and allow you to ask me all the questions in the world [Music] okay does anybody have any questions so i have a question so the 13 million plan out it we're looking starting at 2021 through 2024 and the way that it was broken down it was broken down uh 5 million in 2021 2022 and then the next year another 5 million and then in 2023 2024 it would be 3 million correct so that's just a proposal that's not a definite number that's just if we wanted to chase the 13 million dollars that's the way we can go about it is there a reason is there a reason why we're not starting this year there is no reason we most definitely can start i wanted to be consistent with what was presented

that adopted and that adopted there was nothing projected in 20 um 2021 but that is always an option so can we just clarify gabriella are you because i think what i heard latosha say is or um that she thinks that you're asking that we would make cuts for the during this school year is that what for this school year or your time out for next year right so the project the the projection was starting next school year 2021 and right but but i mean the way so we made we already made all of how many cuts did we make for this i guess latasha how many how much did we cut last year for this school year's fiscal budget million dollars eight million dollars yes ma'am so it would be good to reflect that i

may consider the board can so yeah so we did cut eight million this year i think that's that was the point i was trying to make so so uh to that point then chilean so what we're saying is or latasha you can clarify where there is there's no number in the box for 2021. the num so that's not saying what we are cutting this year for next year that is being indicated or we already made those cuts for this year last year so so there still is work to do this year on making five million dollars worth of cuts for next year correct and right now yes i'm gonna just say correct okay a board member opinion i was gonna ask regarding the care cares funds the federal uh cursed ones where would we see

um where that fund is being spent and how are we spending that money so majority there are not right excuse me i'm so sorry i cut you off before you were finished i apologize no it's okay um so i'm sorry do you understand my question right yes i do okay and so a majority of the 9.2 is tied to the learning loss mitigation plan um well the baby l cap that um some people are calling it um others was just tied to cares pp e um so if at any time i could present a report on exactly how that was expensed but majority of it is tied to the learning loss plan yeah i i would i would like to if you can please just give us a print out of where the fund is

going sure please thank you that's no problem okay great board member greer so in regards to the to that um money those monies that that uh yolanda was just talking about do you said that 9.2 million if i'm not mistaken 9.2 million have to be spent by the end of this year and though there's legislation to to extend that deadline so just out of curiosity are based on on the rate at which we are spending it do are we at risk of not expending those monies by december or are we are we solidly looking like we are on track to certainly have those money spent by december as long as i'm here we will not leave a pity on the table we will spend it all okay okay a board member cruz gonzalez thank you

yeah i have a couple questions um so one uh let's can we go to the slide before or looking at the district reserve analysis right um you know there's a big gap between what we budgeted in our on audited actuals so how much of that is one-time dollars versus just savings because we were not in person last year how much of the savings is tied to one so so our so our adopted budget that we thought we're gonna have 5.6 million dollar reserve and we're looking at 13.7 million dollar reserve right so that's a that's a a gap of what um eight eight million so how much of that eight million is one time like is is is there because of one time dollars versus how much so or or how much of it is

because of savings that we had sure so 300 000 is tied to savings 6 million is tied to the change in lcf revenue and the remaining is tied to um deferred revenue from 1920 that we did not spend that's carried over okay thank you um and then going back um i'm looking at well i'll say the cares questions for for when we when we look at the lcp um um i did want to ask a question about the um that the the estimated versus the fund expenditures the estimated versus actuals um the biggest i mean i see that we actually it looks like we spent um oh no that's different i couldn't tell that was a negative so we actually save money on this never mind my question is not um uh never mind that

was that was my other question but i was misreading the chart okay so um yeah so then my last question is on looking at the um the there's a there's a chart that has um the enrollment with with like the the funds for each of the years let me find it yeah the local control funding formula so i'm looking at these numbers so for 2020 21 it says we're estimating our enrollment is 77 219. so do we feel confident that we're going to get to that number what are we at right now so um so those numbers are basically what was presented and adopted so those will not be tied to funding um so um that's the rolling projection and we're funded off of ada so as long as we hit our ada marker we're

okay but the good thing is for this year and next year ada will not be a factor what will be a factor is our engagement with our students and being able to monitor that but we are going to be held harmless on our funding our rover number we do know um right now we're below our projection of 7216 but our goal is to see exactly where we end up by norm day okay so i so i understand that i know that for the next two years it's kind of kind of like whoo that breed aside relief because we're going to get funding based on last year's enrollment but i but i'm thinking about our budget like the cuts that we're looking at right and you're talking about a big if we have a large drop

of enrollment as it looks like we may have right those are some um significant decreases that have to have that have to happen um in the third year out let's say if they once if they normalize our funding back to the formula right so when you look at those the numbers that you um estimated like the 5 million 5.3 million is that that's taking that into account like you're estimating those pieces so that no no not being honest no by first interim yes i will be able to say yes um and you're making a good point because right now though we're being held harmless we're going to be here and as soon as they tell us we're going back to being funded by our ada it's everyone is going to realize a huge drop because

not only is it going to be ada but it's going to be 80 a for 2021 that we don't even know what our ada will be on and if we're held harmless for 2122 that means the 2020 the 2122 ada is what we're going to be funded off so we're going to be having to guess to see what those numbers are truly get ada and realize what that is and my goal is by first interim to at least say this is where we are this is our current ada and if all things remain the same this is what our funding would be if we were held harmless and that would be our goal of create balancing our budget off that figure thank you i appreciate that i'm looking forward to those numbers and i mean

the only reason i bring it up is because i think you know i'm bringing a little side of relief because i feel like we have a little breathing room um with with the budget looking at it but i do think i know that i mean as a board we want to be fiscally responsible so knowing that you know two years out we're gonna have to make major cuts right i mean that means that we may be in we may be in a position where we're having these difficult conversations where we have a healthy reserve but we know that it's sort of it's either one-time money or it's really it's it's due to this because what's happening with pandemic and so we really have to think about let's let's make sure that we can no we

can sort of have those cuts be gradual like like latasha laid out so that we're not like you know saying well no we look pretty good this year let's not make any cuts because in two years we're gonna be like oh my god where are we gonna find 15 million dollars right so so that i mean that was the reason i asked that because i really think that we need to keep that in our minds um because we i mean our declining enrollment didn't go away right so i think it's something we have to deal with remember if i can if i can uh build on what you said because i think this is extremely important uh to a lesser degree but it's kind of the situation we were in um when we were at

the state level uh ramping up uh to get us to quote unquote full funding and so in a way that was masquerading because that was growing faster than our declining enrollment uh and that was that was a long process that eventually caught up to us again in in a in a in a smaller version but but there is that um that potential right that that this this held harmless um if if to your point if we don't if we don't keep our eyes on on that enrollment and are projecting and working towards that uh there is there is that small potential that uh again it masquerades um that and so we have to be we have to be diligent to make sure that uh we're keeping our eyes on that yeah and that i i

couldn't agree martial and and arthur with with what you're and latasha i mean everyone is saying the same thing and yeah let's not let those numbers fool us or anyone um that yes you know though we may have bought ourselves some time that um i would rather us be good stewards of that time uh that that we have as opposed to you know kicking cans down the road um and having larger snowballs that we have to deal with later and so um yeah so so so this this in no way um you know lets us off the hook so so to sp so to say uh from having some some tough conversations and and yeah it'd be i'm also interested in knowing what what our actual numbers are i see what our what our our

funding is going to be and how some of those some of that you know is looking to remain relatively constant um but but yeah we need to continue to look at where our enrollment numbers are and and what that you know what that means for our for our funding um once the the cliff um the inevitable cliff comes board member uh rodriguez pena yes i totally agree with my colleagues i think we need to be proactive and you know it doesn't snowball on us in the last minute kind of spread it out but um regarding the um the cares ones i also would like to know um if you can latasha um you know give us give us a list of what can that points be used for also right you know where is it

how are we spending it and what can we use it for because i know you know we have some restricted money is it restricted for certain things only having to do with the covet 19 or um you know how hard can be utilized sure i can give that in report but i can share um in a nutshell some of our funds are designated to pp e um but the large bulk of it like i said is learning loss um that can't be tied to salaries meaning subplanting so we can say oh let's just take all of our current teachers and let's just try and learn laws it literally has to be tied to achieving a goal of mitigating loss and destruction time since march and ms um dr dana and her team is working um

they're going to present the great pan that you guys already seen before but we've been working in collaboration with each other just to see how we can meet the needs of all of our students so so that's also like i mean so can it be used for materials pencils books supplies educational technologies everything that we know to helping our students yeah achieve that learning gap that they're okay so so if i have we could have a list i really would appreciate that you got it no thank you no problem okay board member ariana's actually that was going to be one of my uh questions on the federal funding the cares act um since it the deadline to to go ahead and utilize these funds is december 2020 um that was going to be my question

if we could get it uh because this needs to be done asap um and like you said on your time uh miss latasha that um every penny will be spent and so uh looking forward to that list the second in january which is uh the reconfiguration of the conversations that we need to have a five-year three-year five-year 10-year plan that we we need to okay you froze on me but i think i got the gist of what you're thinking the five-year plan and i've been charged with that task and that is my goal we're going to work on that in collaboration of with the budget committee so we can identify where we are for the next five years get some input presented come back to you all several times on hey this is where i

hear some ideas and get feedback so that is the goal i'll be working with our amazing superintendent in collaboration to give that to you guys okay board member pit rodriguez pena do you have anything else oh okay just making sure okay uh does already so at this point um any more questions or comments so do i have any motion to [Music] so i i move to approve this the the unaudited actuals thank you thank you okay moved by board member chris gonzales second board member rodriguez pena um time to vote and i think actually my motion was an honored actuals and the budget update yes thank you thank you latasha that was really great um presentation thank you good job yes okay so at this point um it passes 5-0 and we will move to

the consent calendar um item 10.1 all matters listed under the consent calendar calendar are considered by the board to be routine and will be enacted by the board in one motion in the format following the last consent calendar agenda item there will be no discussion of these items prior to the time the board staff or the public request specific items to be discussed if discussion is requested by a board member that item will be removed from the consent calendar and will be considered separately the superintendent and staff recommend approval of all consent calendar agenda items so do i have a movement on the floor emotion motion to approve consent calendar all second motion to approve consent calendar okay uh motion to approve uh board member ariana is seconded by board member cruz gonzalez uh do

make public parts of the uh contract that will be negotiated um and then that the public have an opportunity to comment on their positions uh the um the parts of the contract that were open were shared um as in accordance with the brown act um on thursday of last week um i do want to highlight components of the articles that the association the teachers association will be um asking to negotiate they have article one um recognitions this relates to unit modification and adding preschool teachers to the unit this is a carryover from last year article 3 evaluation procedures this is this will speak to a mou extension to a current pilot mou that the district has with aea around evaluations article 5 hours of employment also an mou related to covin 19 and article eight

safety conditions is um also an mou related to cope in 19 and then 14 and 15 are 14 is salary schedules and roles and then 15th health and welfare benefits so those are the articles that the teachers association have brought before the board of education and the public to negotiate i also want to just highlight the process so this first part is the public notification the second part will be a which is 12.5 a public hearing which will be called to order and then individuals from the public will have an opportunity to speak and then the 12.6 is when the board will actually take action and adopt the articles and the sunshine proposal thank you thank you assistant superintendent attendant rookie level um so at this point what we will do is we will go

strong workforce program encourages school districts to build relationships with their community colleges to ensure that students have cte opportunities from k-12 through the community colleges and we do that by articulation also creating dual enrollment courses so that students can take college-level cte courses at the high schools and then we also want to make sure that they're prepared for whatever courses that they might choose to take in the community college all geared towards opportunities that give them earning potential when they graduate from the high school or when they move on to community colleges and ultimately get a job that's a very brief summary we're very fortunate that this is the first year that ausd in conjunction with consortium members at dwary unified monroeville unified and charter oak unified applied for and receive 900 000 for the

entire consortium of which ausd will see a large portion as the fiscal lead so um i hope that gives you a good summary of where we're at with the k12 swamp workforce program thank you okay so we will any questions or comments okay we'll move on to 13.3 affirming intent to reduce expenditures as needed to address projected deficit spending resolution number two 21-13 do i emotion 13.3 to be moved okay motion by board member ariana seconded by board member greer and student board member arkenberg okay the rest of us can vote now i feel i'm so proud of myself okay that passes 5-0 and we'll move on to 13.4 approve resolution 2021-12 2021-21 appropriations limits do we have a motion motion to move 13.4 okay motion by board member ariana seconded by board member greer

make a motion to approve 13.6 a second motioned by board member seconded by board member ariana's is there any discussion can we have an explanation on that please sure i'd be happy to jaime escalante taught mathematics at garfield high school you may have seen the movie uh stand and deliver i believe it was called um we actually and we had um one of his students uh come and speak to our students a couple years back so he began an accelerated mathematics program back in 1974 and then he brought his methodology to east los angeles college in 1983. so this program has operated out of east los angeles college for more than 30 years and partners with southern california high schools to help mathematics students high school students and so this this program is going to

uh would come to azusa high school and would provide a coordinated collaboration between the jaime escalante math program and azusa high school to successfully align curricular support for two courses that would be pre-calculus and integrated three mathematics classes so the program provides an additional instructor and the students would be getting after-school support for uh for these classes uh they also collaborate with our teachers at azusa high school as well so uh the students would be getting um after school uh mathematics instruction in support of those two classes um and and and actually uh it's not just azusa high school two we are um we can invite uh students from gladstone high school to participate if they would like to participate as well um the only cost to the program is uh is purchasing um the

uh the the workbooks that go with it so we're really excited about this opportunity okay thank you any other questions you're seeing that gladstone high school students are able to participate in this even though it's uh home based in asusa high yeah yeah they will and so this will this will begin um as a virtual um uh opportunity and then it would be based at um at azusa high school but yes uh the students from gladstone high school if someone to participate they'd be welcome to participate as well and what is that how would they get there and and yeah what's the process expectation oh um yeah that the transportation would not be it was not something that is included in that so they would have to um they would have to find some transportation

for that would that be after school or the weekends yeah this is an after-school program and so um it's going to be i believe it's um two days or one of the courses and two days for the other course so yeah it's after school so it'll be two two days a week for the course after school clarification dr mitchell transportation currently is not as a non-issue because it would be virtual that's correct yes uh but i'm i'm saying if we uh if we when we return to school but right now it's all virtual that is correct um i'd also like to ask if sierra is involved as well um they do not um you know what um that is a possibility they i don't believe they have the pre-calculus but they do have any recourse

but they do have integrated three courses there so um yes i believe that would be a possibility too i will look into that and let you know but i don't see why not thank you okay um any more questions comments okay board student board member arkenberg was your vote and anytime you would like to have a comment or ask a question on any of these items please feel free to jump both feet first we would love it thank you i don't have any questions passes 5-0 we'll move on to item 13.7 ratify approve contract with tools forever motion to approve 13.7 second okay motion by board member arianas uh seconded by board member rodriguez pena um is there any discussion yes can you please explain what tools forever is and what they are going to
