[Music] Welcome parents, guardians, and community members. Here we are, teacher María López González, who will now talk to us about another tool we can use to manage our emotions. Teacher, welcome, thank you. Today we are going to talk about the tool of a calm and safe place. In the toolbox, there are two tools, and this is number 2. The order doesn't matter because the first three are the foundation. So, last week we talked about the breathing tool, and today we are going to talk about the tool of a calm and safe place. What is the purpose of having this calm and safe place? It helps us to relax in stressful moments that can happen at any time in our lives. We should have a physical place where we can go, even to the ocean, and

be at peace and find it. This is a moment to breathe deeply, alone. And if we don't have that physical place, we have to find it in our minds. Perhaps we haven't thought about this, but perhaps we can think now that this place makes me feel at peace, that I manage to feel calm and tranquil. What are the benefits of being calm, serene, and feeling safe, especially for children? What are the benefits of this? Well, it helps us to Focusing again is very much about focus in class, and if they're not focused, they can't learn. So, focusing helps us have good relationships with friends and teachers because sometimes we're angry about something that happened, or maybe we tried to bring it into class. We need that time to calm down and rebuild the relationship that

we may have damaged a little. But first, we need to calm down and be at peace. I also want to show you the symbol for this tool: earmuffs, like the ones carpenters use to block out sounds. That helps us focus. What do earmuffs do? We don't make a symbol like that, because then the children can't hear us. Instead, we make a symbol with our hands, close our eyes, and imagine ourselves in a peaceful place, whether it's the beach, the mountains, or the forest—wherever you feel calm and relaxed. Close your eyes to put yourself in that place. And parents can do this too. They can also practice this tool at home, right? Yes, of course. Everyone can take some family time to relax. Perhaps it could be the morning before going to work or school, before

doing anything, and finding that quiet place to start our day in a positive way. Or it could be when we get home, tired and stressed, and finding a moment. You can ask your children to explain what the " quiet place" tool is and practice it at home. There's something else to add to this topic of a quiet and safe place. I want to leave you with the message that by teaching this tool of finding a quiet and safe place, we are teaching our students tenacity. Because maybe the day isn't going very well, or something is happening, and it teaches us not to give up and to keep going. It's about finding our moment of tranquility and continuing, not just saying, "I can't do it." And this will help us develop other skills, skills that are

very important. Thank you so much, teacher, for this information. Thank you for your attention, and I hope we can put this information into practice, as we do here in schools, but also in our homes, so that it benefits everyone. Thank you so much, teacher, and I hope you see us again. Join us next week and until next time, thank you very much. [Music]
