correct in saying he's very um kind of pro CSEA. He works with our classified staff now. So, we we're hopeful that we'll still continue to have a good relationship with him on that end. Um and I think that's about it that we have going on right now. >> Thank you, ma'am. Thank you. >> Um, no. George, Doug, do you have anything to say to us? >> I can speak on I can pinch hit today. >> Um, so we did uh >> and I also apologize for calling you Doug. It is a less formal atmosphere stuff. So please do forgive me. >> Uh, no for no apologies necessary. I say all my friends call me Doug. So >> there you go. >> I appreciate that. Um we the district presented its second interim to the board

uh at the last meeting. We are ser uh positive certification. Um as as far as George goes, I was going to let you know that he did get um appointed interim superintendent. I think he will do a fine job. Um and uh I can assure you he will stay true to a CSA uh um appreciation or approval of them. So it it takes a team. It's all of us together. We can't teach our kids without both units. So it's just the way it is. Um as far as we're we're going to start our reclassification study, I believe we have uh we've nominated Carrie to be the lead and we've got three from each side. So that's going to start next week, I hope, or the week after. If not, then >> now is that a

full classification study of all judge? >> So we have a five-year plan rotation. >> Yeah. Okay. >> So this first year it's going to be grounds, maintenance, and warehouse. That sound right? >> No, I think just a custodial. So it's custodians >> and then all everyone undergrounds in maintenance. >> Okay. >> For the first round. So they get to be the uh guinea pig >> guinea pig for the process. >> Yeah. >> So then every year we'll do another uh round. So it's uh I think we've been needing this and it this will be a welcomed um process. So um >> it's been a long time and it has been needed for a minute. >> The whole contract is open. So um we're looking at all all articles and we should be wrapping up here

soon for this year. Then um Health and welfare is an issue um just because yes because the uh rates are projected to go up quite significantly this year but we'll we'll see how that when they finally come to us. I am also on that board so I have a a prelude to it usually before they come out. Um it's one of the advantages of being on the on that board. Um is there anything else? >> Um for the re for the reclassification for the applications that have come in um from members individually that is also going to be starting next week as well. So we already have a committee for those as well. >> They're asking for asking to look at their job descriptions and so we >> How many individuals put in for that?

Is that like that's kind of probably a regular thing I would assume? >> I think there's five or six. >> Yeah, I think there's like five or six. I can't remember exact count, but there's like five or six. >> Um, >> sorry, George is calling me. >> Okay, he wants to put him on the speaker. >> I know. >> Gonna do that. >> Um, yeah. Um, you know, we're excited with the new um appointment. So, we're I'll trying to up our head around it and see how that how it works. You can see everybody jocking for their positions. >> Thank you, sir. >> You know, things are going well. >> Thanks, Mr. Artis. >> All right. This is what we have for us. Uh the statistics we have five interviews in process, zero recruitments that

are testing and we have two recruitments that are open and they're open until the end of the month. >> What are the open? >> Uh par regular parah and parn. >> Okay. >> And uh we're trying to capture some of the Apple Valley folks. I went to a job fair out there, handed out applications, spoke to people. So that's why we're keeping them open until the end of the month because all the layoff notices have to come by March 15. So, that's a window we're trying to catch. Hopefully, we get some folks to come apply here. Um, we have 388 classified employees total, 164 8 hour full-time, 135 benefited part-time, 89 non-benefited part-time. Uh, we, as always, we have 18 classified managers. On the classifications, on security, we have no vacancies. On safety, we have

four vacancies, but those are the new positions that were created at the high school, and they're going to interview on Monday. uh custodial we have uh we completed the first two rounds of interviews uh transfer the mode and interviews all that and we're currently working on making offers and onboarding sorting all that out and then we'll necessitate a third round to backfill to backfill another three transfers. So possibly there might be another set of transfers, right? Um we uh conducted on boarding for custodians this morning. Uh we also have interviews for nutrition services one and three for is scheduled for the 13th and the 17th. So tomorrow and Tuesday for health assistant those interviews are scheduled for uh the week of April 2nd. And uh library media tech skyline is going to be interviewed Monday,

March 16th. Um, let's see. As always, we continue to review the applications for the minimal costs. Uh, once we're finished with the with this round of custodians, then we'll focus on the par educators. So, Paris and in Paris, that's the next group to go. And, uh, we have our CSPCA conference starting on Sunday and we'll be back on Tuesday the 17th. So, our office will be closed Monday and Tuesday. And our next um scheduled meeting for us is April 9th at 4:30 p.m. That is all I have. >> Thank you, sir. Um I'll entertain a motion for the adoption adoption of the agenda as presented. >> Motion second. >> Anybody want to move anything around pull or push? >> All in favor? >> I um we got discussion items update on CSPCA conference travel arrangements.

Mr. expertise. I believe we've uh already talked about how we're using the van. So, we got two vans going. Uh the staff is going to take one van and uh Gilbert and Mr. Eastless are going to go in another van. We'll go in our private vehicles. We'll see each other over there. And uh has contact been made with Mr. Eastless and put in touch with Mr. S? Do you know Tony well enough to talk to him? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you have his number? >> Yeah. U >> Okay. You got all that? So, you'll make whatever arrangements. >> Yeah. And connect with them. If not, I'll call them. >> Thanks, Gilbert. I appreciate that. >> Um, >> is this time for the hug and the kiss? >> No. >> See what I mean? >>

Okay. >> You sure? This is This is a wait a >> You can hand it to >> She's hot in here. >> Okay. >> I'm willing to share. >> All right. And that is all we have on that. Unless there's anything else that questions or comments or suggestions on. >> No, the only thing I mean we're going to get together like Sunday evening um have dinner whatever you'll send out text or arrangements for that and then we can talk about how it is we want to >> negotiate. I'm still again wanting to say that you know the invitation was kind of like a kumbaya session so we all get to know one another and do everything. That includes Mr. East and I would like to go on the record again of saying, you know, it's

my hopes that whatever you and I or you and you or all of us decide to go with that somehow someway we can talk uh Mr. Elesss in joining with us so that we can have a discussion and an understanding of what it is that we hear that he might be able to take back to the other side. >> Yes, >> this has never been offered to come to one of these conferences for a trustee. So I think it's a wonderful opportunity. Uh Mr. Yeless needs to be aware that it is a wonderful opportunity and he is you know should be an honored guest on our behalf. >> Um and I hope that he uses that not to enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather which we all will but to actually get information or build

some kind of relationship if not with you but with us um or the ladies and to understand what it is that you guys go through on a daily basis. They have no clue and I will be the first person to say from sitting there for 12 years what it is that you guys do and this is your chance to sell somebody which was somebody different. You know what it is that you do, how it is that you do it and why it is that we do it. We need technology. We need another person. We need we need we need and they don't understand it because they don't see it. This is an opportunity that I was hoping a superintendent, a superintendent's administrative assistant, and other trustees would have taken to see what is involved and

talk to other people, but they didn't. I'll get off the soap box now, but let's, you know, welcome Mr. Ulus and try to get him to benefit from the information that we're going to garner from it. Of course, >> what he chooses to do is his own accord. >> Um, consent agenda. We got um ratify the eligibility list. We'll take the consent agenda. All in um motion to take consent agenda. >> Motion second. >> Um you got anything on this, Mr. Ortiz? All in favor? >> I >> opposed. >> Um conference or action. We have a preliminary first reading of the 2526 budget. Mr. Ortiz. So before you is the proposed budget for uh the next year uh for 2627. You will notice that uh we're trying to be conservative at the bottom of the

budget. So we did transfer some funds to the top which is salaries. Uh that is purposely because uh we know that there's there's always an increase every year with the with the step increases and longevity and so on. Uh but there's also there could be some um bargain settlements that uh were not haven't been finalized yet. So we kind of have to have a little room for that. And also uh we identified some some funds here that we can use for additional staffing if that is >> that one's going to be a good question >> if that's if that's uh what what you know the direction is. Uh however, if you look at the second part here which we you know with Mr. and I we found areas to to save right and so we

we have reduced a lot of them one in particular is 3412 which is health and welfare which was kind of high the projection from last year and that is because in the last settlement the the employers contribution was increased so that's something that we weren't u I I didn't calculate uh however if the rates are going to increase this year >> that was going to be my next question this presentation is is this we're showing a savings in that >> yes Um, I've never seen health and benefits go down. They only go up. >> It's just it doesn't work that way. So, I would be very cautious in that. >> Yes. So, >> category >> that's probably going to be adjusted once Doug has something that or Mr. Beaton has something that's more public on

what the rates are going to look like, then we can make an adjustment on that. uh the the rest of the some of these other other categories uh like um I envision something like refreshment something that we can spend when you know we're we're going to see to the sites or any number of things and apparently that that particular category is very limited so we can't really use that so we eliminated that but and yet we we move some of that funding to as our travel and conference because that seems to be the more appropriate uh budget code for some of some of our needs. >> And uh >> you got way too many appointments. >> I know. And uh >> there's your schedule. This has been on the books for a month. >> Half

hour early. >> My bad. >> Got you on that one. Uh and uh I believe uh the bottom part here which is our travel conference that 145 is in line where we should be next year. Our next CSPCA conference is going to be in Long Beach. So it should track with what we're doing this year. We're not going to have to go to Northern California. So uh this this should afford us uh a conference and maybe another training. So there's still a little bit of room in there. And again, subject to change. This is the first reading. There's still going to be a lot of discussion here and numbers may come in that may necessitate to make changes. >> Well, within the next 30 days, because this being the first reading, we will have our

set budget at the next meeting. Um, you guys are going to do health and welfare. >> The numbers usually don't come out until end of March >> when they're actually posted. >> Okay. you know, keep an eye on it and then think cuz after looking at this personally, you know, with the increase on the top and that I mean, it could be substantial because the savings that you show in that category, uh, good luck with that and that that'll take us over, I believe, the 600,000 mark, which has always been a threshold of kind of pain for the trustees. >> Yes. Uh, we're at 583. Yeah. And so if it changes it and there's always been, you know, at one point in time 400,000 was the number, 500,000 was number, 600,000. And again, with them

not understanding what happens or probably even looking at the budget. Yes. >> Um they won't break it down. They'll just see a number. So we want to kind of keep it in a threshold that's comfortable for everyone. >> Yes. >> If I may too, that sure those budget lines can they're fluid. So you can move budget where it's needed, but I I would like to keep it. Um I was trying not to cross that $600,000. >> It's we do have a mile. >> Yeah. 12 12 years worth. There's always a threshold number. Yep. >> You probably understand a certain thing >> and I would like to keep Well, there is a uh an increase from last year. So we are taking into consideration >> price adjustment. >> Yes. No. on that. I understand >> we

still have a about 16,000 a little pocket of 16,000 and we'll be under 600. >> 110% understood. Yeah. Um, I guess this would be the time I got in the soap boxing. Now they're throwing around um numbers on the other side that you know they give themselves raises and they don't understand we need personnel and we need assistance for the ladies and everything else but yet they have no problem in um passing how do I do this without getting in trouble giving themselves raises. I mean I I just I that's just been bugging me for two weeks now. you know, 350% increase, you know, and then I sit there and struggle with trying to, you know, get this budget. Sorry. Um, I'll entertain a motion if for discussion. Oh, no, this is not a motion.

First reading. >> Nothing to move. >> Yeah. You'll have the next one and then we'll do it. >> Yes, sir. I just add so >> do we have funds to support additional staff or that's seem like enough that >> it's kind of built into the top somewhat. >> It's it's somewhat built in the top. However, I think the number we talked about was about 25,000 to put up there. However, that won't cover 100%. >> Right. Right. >> That's probably 50% of something, right? Uh somewhere about there. we would still need to negotiate that with somebody else unless the direction is and we can make that adjustment if we're doing that in the next round is uh we want to put something that will give us a 100% you know position then we can make that

change. >> So this plus 23 is for additional it doesn't include the whatever statutory raises or increases or >> oh no it does the steps and everything are already in there longevity everything else. So we do that then then there's not much left for additional >> a half of a person which we built in for the first time if I correct was either last year or the year prior none of which ever came to fruition. We had it in there, but we were never granted the person, right? >> Um, we were technically, but we never got use of the person, shall we say? So, um, we can put it in here again and in hopes of, you know, getting something the next goound of saying we want some hours. >> We can we can carry

it and if we don't use it, we don't use it, right? But we can also carry it. >> Sure. >> That's that's another strategy. >> Okay. >> We can make that adjustment. And I'm taking notes of that for for our second reading. >> Anything else, guys? >> That's all I got, >> Mr. >> I'm good. Um, we're request for advanced step placement CCA range 24, step four for um Janelle Silva. She's pared educator. Um, I will entertain a motion for discussion. Based upon the director's findings, >> I move to approve the director's recommend action of step two. >> There we go. >> Second. Okay. >> Miss Ortiz. >> Yes, sir. Uh, Miss Silva comes to us. She is requesting a step four. She's a par educator and uh she does have experience as a learning

facilitator. She gave us her resume here, her job history, her letter and uh she has experience as an afterchool leader and a tutor. Uh however, in line with our our our usual practice with these kind of recommendations for pair educators. Uh although she has some experiences, not direct directly as a par educator. I am recommending a step to ask. >> Anything from the commissioners? None. >> All in favor? I >> I >> opposed >> a German 425. >> Okay, good job. You're out of here. Right. >> This one is I got
