0077 15. thanks for coming can you uh can I put you on the spot can you share your jacket with us that's pretty cool okay I'm looking at all these things look very uh very patched up there these are solar athlete patches so what do you have to do with these scholar athlete patches maintain a 4.0 I think um 4.0 and we enact an athlete um I should have four but I don't know I got lost in the relationship um two DBL MVPs that's supposed to a golf division yeah these are all um academics golf NHS Captain um all dvl CIF and then like so many cifs nice oh thanks for coming congratulations I know you want to go home and keep studying so you can graduate with it 4.0 I got a piece coming

008up oh that's right which ones are you taking um Spanish English and sex which was the hardest yeah and that's the one I need to get the highest score for my college I'm mostly determined on the University of California San Diego wow wonderful congratulations but I'm so excited with me and that one obviously those are two different totally different choices yeah may you have to commit May 1st May 1st well thanks for coming thank you and congratulations you're almost at the end yeah [Music] let's move on to the uh hearing section uh public comment and we do have someone who wants to speak Dan Uncle Branson um I cannot pull up on here that so uh before you stand to you Daniel yes okay hold on one sec I have to read a bunch of

009legalese type stuff and then you're welcome to come up and address the board uh at the podium but first uh this communication item is included on the agenda of each regular board meeting to provide an opportunity for citizens to make suggestions or identify concerns about matters affecting the district or to suggest an item to be scheduled for future agendas the president invites anyone wishing to address the governing board on any item that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the governing board to do so unless otherwise approved by the governing board the total time allotted to each person who speaks will be three minutes with a total of 20 minutes allocated for the time members of the governing board can only take action on items listed on the agenda and may not comment on the

010Public's comments governing board members may see clarification or first specific concerns to District staff for appropriate attention no person has granted any privilege by the governing board to make statements which may be considered defamatory or otherwise actionable by other persons including District officers or employees complaints against employees will normally be heard in closed session session and the district's complaint procedure should be followed before discussion with the governing board all charges or complaints against employees shall be submitted to the board under provisions of policy 1312. speakers are cautioned that under California law no person is immune from liability for making intentionally false or the family defamatory comments regarding any person simply because those comments are made in a public meeting these procedures are not designed to restrict public criticism of policies procedures programs or Services of

011the district or acts of admissions of the governing board all right after all that Mr cabranson if you want to come speak good evening everybody hi hey I don't know if I'm going to be able to stand or talk without a snow shovel in my head has this been a rough how many months yeah almost three yeah I haven't even made my backyard no over over two months so I hope I don't know is this hospital going to be uh coming around Sunday I think you said a few things to say I'm concerned about the loss of uh parental control over kids and the government is getting involved in things that are you know I haven't even your children are not be able to talk with your parents or the teachers talk to the parents

012so it's just some things like that um throughout the country it just seems like things are getting crazy some of them stories you hear about books pedophilia in the books drag queen things numerous things are very concerning you gotta remember back when I was a kid in 58 59 that area you know we had uh Fun with Dick and Jane learn to add and write and I wish I would have paid more attention in my writing classes just smiling with you I'm laughing with you too it's uh some things we learn and some things we don't but it is horrifying nowadays of some of the things that are going on what's up even with some of the teachers I believe I'm getting to the point to where I think there should be a camera in

013every classroom because parents became horrified when we saw some of the things that were going on not necessarily in this you know school but I heard different things um the biggest thing we had to worry about was getting under our desk every Friday at 10 o'clock because of the atomic blast so the alarm would go off and I was in Lancaster so la was only 35 40 miles away and it was even closer I think we could pick it up followed by Chrome so we had to worry about uh things like that which I hope you never have to worry about again but I'm worried about not some of the teachers you know back in the old days back in the 50s and you know being never knew what the teachers would disappearing the bars

014public and Democrat you know they didn't get reviews but it seems like now they tend to be able to get more views and do things that I think are out of line from some of the things I've heard so excited lots of uh the parental control and being able to make decisions for their kids and not let the government side but I'm also concerned about the parents some of the movies they watch some of the things they do whenever your parents say my child can handle it but the Chainsaw Massacres Friday the 13th weather God awful movies they have let me see I was flipping through the challenges the other night there hadn't been again Friday the 13th or one horrible thing after another your other nasty appearance at 7-Eleven getting their breakfast for the

015kids goats Donuts potato chips what other horrible things are there handy Monster Energy Drink they're all bad and then they're going to school and you know at their teachers before teachers try to do something with them if I have four kids and I have one that was horrible as a matter of fact they wouldn't even went into Chicago and uh are you in the Marines at 18 and became spectacular thank God but all my kids are so old I got when I just turned 50. it goes fast so if you have kids would better enjoy them you know now the parents are using your advice is this babysitter babysitters it's like it's just amazing to me what the hell happened to these parents you know your Tails waiting the dog nowadays I see it all

016the time I go on a job and it's like are you controlling your kids are you kidding me so it just seems incredible what's going on you know all those devices and things you know it's just like any other addiction um and I'm not sure what uh kind of next it's gonna work out with the Fentanyl and these drugs that kill people one little pill in you're dead what kind of deal is that you know it's like a hundred thousand people dead about a year's time now I know coping uh wasn't spectacular for uh schools either I don't know quite times about it but okay good go on I'm sorry to rambled a little bit starting to try to do more speaking to get in there in the front of people so I just like

017just you know try to get attention because I'm kind of on both sides you know I'm definitely against him under control somebody's parents I don't know what's going on either it's a sad thing make sure you have to confront that what every day hello thank you thank you for coming speaking um like it mentions in the what I mentioned earlier we can't make comments but if you do have anything specific regarding the school district that concerns you feel free to call in superintendent Mary's always available yeah well I'm just getting into it correctly fine granted thanks Daniel all right let's move on to the next item on the agenda uh the percent calendar is there are there any items that a board member would like removed from the consent calendar hearing none is there any

018first and a second a little approval second I'll call please board member folks hi Karen aye Roberts uh smart uh something like that all right on to employee announcements well we are thrilled to welcome Jessica Lopez as our health aide at North Shore Jessica had already been working at North Shore or in bbusd um as of August 2021 as a special education aid but she is wonderful with our students and has a background in health care so it was a perfect fit for her she'll be a great addition to the front office at North Shore Elementary and I know she's truly excited to continue working with our students so welcome to Jessica she's not out there today but in case she's out there watching on YouTube welcome comments that's the next one yes okay so

019I'd like to welcome back all of our staff students and families a third quarter ended the Friday before we went on break and we are in the final quarter of our school year we're looking forward to finishing to your strong and celebrating our successes as we have all the exciting celebrations coming up Dr Maria samani has been here for the past two days she worked with our kindergarten through fifth grade teachers and then with our 9th through 12th grade science teachers looking at the implementation of our new Elementary curriculum and the possibilities for our secondary science curriculum we had the two full day sessions during the elementary um which was the other day our they actually had two of our elementary teachers Tia Courtney and Joyride modeled science lessons that were created with our new

020Adoption and aligned with the ngss the teacher representatives from each site then had in-depth conversations on how to support all teachers with creating those meaningful lessons that were aligned to ngss and some great conversation dialogue about how they could expand and support so that they could make it systemic and I know thank you for all that you are doing with that you've done a great job with Maria coming in and just leaving the conversations too as far as our high school it was wonderful to see all of our high school teachers here today for the science they actually um took a look at what would the curriculum look like moving into the new science curriculum coming up and it was the Open Source book which sign said the open science and I think Maria's part

021of that process right she's been part of the creation of it and so they had exceptional conversations and one of them said at the end of it to us you know Mary and Lisa it was like almost a fog was taken away from me with having that time spent with Maria because it became so much more understandable and clear on how ngss is to be implemented within our subject areas and that was powerful I wanted to write it down exactly but we tried to so all of them moving excited about looking at it and Maria she just leads the conversation so humbly and listens but then guides and directs us into the direction that we really need to go for our students so we're really grateful for her and then again um reading what Annika

022said on Sunday April 23rd it is Sunday the wascame will be here to meet cabinet and the board between 3 and 3 30 at the meet Center at the high school so if you're available please plan on attending we'd love to have our board there to welcome this committee that's coming up also on Wednesday April 26th between 2 40 and 3 15 and I think all of you have it on that sheet that we sent out before but we'll put it again on the Friday update on Wednesday April 26th between 2 40 and 3 15 the committee will report the results out of the visit and all of you are welcome to attend that's always an exciting time to hear what they shared with us thank you and is that what's the maximum length that

023you get six year six years and we've all we've gotten six years since we because it is a labor of love to do the loss and a lot of open conversations and thinking of yourself honestly I think we've got one shortage no we didn't we ended up getting this six year we had a short when I was coming in we were at the end of a Showtime uh CT was on the end of like a three year or one year and then CT was on debt and that was then but since I've been here CT also I've got six year two everybody has since we started right they were at the end of the one year and we were really worried when are we going to be able to get a six year for them

024and one or two days I'm writing for the principles and the staff I am because they it's a lot the CT one really concerned us because that one are we looking at me looking back just to make sure I'm right sure and I'll dial a friend I'll ask her but she does not hear but no we I am it's not my correct we didn't have a one year it's been a while they fixed it and that was really like super awesome interesting comments there were they had some interesting comments on that was the high school one yes we still received the six year with a mid-year visit and that was it was a mid-year visit where we got a visit in three years so that the interest accomplishment yeah that's a three year one oh

025it's considered six years six year with a one-day visit that one I remember distinctly because the comment was how are you using data to really drive the instruction and that was a big conversation about what do our what do I your points look like some conversations what was the date of that I'm sorry report after vacation all right everyone's back hurts from shoveling like Mr Goldberg we're done done with it it makes the beneficiary not the pavement or the basketball all righty neighbors kind of tangentially uh the tantum in family the that's been here a very long time I graduated with Robert his son recently um there's going to be a fundraiser at modules um the so if anyone can go it's to support a really great family that's been account forever is it a

026time period or is it one of those deals that anything all day it looked like it was all day I know there's a time period like specific but Maggio is very generous it's like 50 goes to the things yeah it's very significant great so if you can make it to the family's terrific defensive for a very long since uh since Jack's doing a shout out I'll give a shout out to you in the future we will be accepting a donation uh via a friend of mine who works for bomba socks we already received them 2 000 pair of socks or uh students in our district who are at me you know that their their mission is for every pair of socks to purchase they donate to people in need so my best friend Kristen from

027high school has worked for them for since they started so she reached out to me and said hey I can give away a thousand pairs a year do you have anything in new districts receptions anyhow if you feel like buying Mama socks it's nice that they gave back to us and lastly I also want to mention that in our consent calendar we are purchasing musical instruments so our music program seems to be off and running and has made it to the next level which is super exciting to hear about us so let's move on to uh city which is cabinet reports uh Miss Rosado yes thank you we're gonna start with which one I'm sorry I didn't roll my hair July uh this is you started we will start with Mr plants who is unable

028to attend because he's assisting not assisting he's actually working on because we couldn't get one of the boiler units working at the high school so Dr Polk says graciously agreed to gym the update of what he got from Mr plans I was with Mr Prince when he got the call about the boiler um there is a minor hiccup okay the mitigated declaration for the stadium project um did not include exactly the correct area and some trees were left out of the the scope and so they're going to have to amend the mnd to include that which is going to take a couple three weeks I think it says not a big deal uh the board will probably have to approve that again um and Terry didn't think it was going to extend the project but

029they still don't have DSA approval yes and so that's I mean I think you said the schedule to start construction and hopefully April 1st would not be May 1st um but that's pending getting DSA approved so I mean he talked about some other things I'm not sure because the restroom is proceeding um they're getting the plumbing design going and the project is tied to the restroom project at the high school and so Terry wants to make sure that we get better food before they submit the plans for the restaurants or the stadium so that things don't get messed up doesn't want to get crosswise with music so the Declaration isn't causing the delay the CSA approval like a pretty DSA approval can we move forward at this point waiting for the Declaration or reading the

030Declaration too before well we wouldn't be able to we wouldn't be able to to do anything in the general area in that area in that area and until like okay so it doesn't hold it theoretically they can start construction right thank you all right seriously thank you let's move on to number two the use of the beaker elementary school facility for the gold mine Country Music Festival yes I'm going to recuse myself because you are accused okay [Music] Mr Perry okay so unfortunately for those in the audience I cannot put up the PowerPoint because Apple has decided to do an update we can do this yes you guys can have fun and share yeah take this and this since we have paper cups that's that's what would have been up there thank you yes on

031the screen so thank you Mr [Music] Mr presenting episode so this is just for us to have a discussion like we did last year to make a determination give me direction and there's no action to be taken on this just direction to give to me right all my country music festival September 16 2023 we attempted to do it last year on basically the same weekend we were not able to get talent to get signed up early enough we found out that if you don't start really really early has already locked in their tour for the year so we started earlier this year we're mildly confident that we're going to get Talent fish and be ready to do it but we need to get make sure we have the dirt over there from new folks um

032our promises are the same as they were last year which is number one minimize the impacts on your staff as much as possible no liability for the district return the facilities to better condition than when we began and make a 25 000 contribution to the district after the show's over and that 25 000 based on what mental would be at the resort that's their normal one day um the reason we're we're here again this year last year we thought we would be at the resort this year because they still are under construction this year this summer they weren't able to get everything done um so that's why we'd like to to rent your property again the other personal reason I have is it's always been a proof of concept um I would love to see

033the city and visit Big Bear eventually buy Big Bear Elementary uh put Workforce housing up on top where the buildings are now and then down on the field area keep that as a outdoor kind of venue for all sorts of events athletic events concerts Etc the exciting thing for me is um having that field I'll call it you know I essentially adjacent once we close where a lot the city losses to close Knickerbocker we're talking below that area it becomes adjacent to the city's parking lot and we put the family activities the beer garden and all that over there which works out really well because they can appear on their property but we can't charge admission on their property they have a rule against that well we can try to do mission on your property

034we can have beer over there so this works out fairly well that the guests won't be able to have alcohol or vape or smoking or whatever in the concert area but they will be ever if they want to get a beer or whatever they will be able to go across the street and get the beer and all that out so yeah and it to me it drives business to the to the village and the merchants in the village I mean if we get between the three and five thousand people that we would like to get to the concert um that's going to be a tremendous help for the merchants in the village and uh and to show that if we had Big Bear Elementary School as a ongoing venue that combined with the village and

035all the parking around there just is wonderful so that's my vision and that's why I'm here today happy to answer questions good questions does the city share your vision yeah I'm gonna have a meeting with Mr our new city manager Mr Sandler and take him out on site and walk him around and twist his arm and say I have a little bit of money in my agency I know you have money in your agency um and try to get him interested in that concept So when you say walk them around the site which site the Big Bear Elementary not on the site necessarily but where we can walk up and down you know down after locker and the point I don't know how familiar he is with the scientic uh I have not gone after

036him yeah that's online can you remind me how many people you plant that plan to attend and about the the police sure president sir sure the maximum attendance would be 5300 5 000 yes 300 staff on your side and then on the city Side we have capacity for 2500 in the family activity Beer Garden area and then we have uh sheriffs on site I think there's like two officers um and then like four deputies we have uh the fire department on site we have medical staff beyond the fire department paramedics and then we have cops which will man the two closures on Knickerbocker um so that Marta we have Marta coming in because we're we're going to have people park at brownie uh Summits brownie parking lot okay and shuttle them over because we if

037we do well we will exceed the local parking in that area right so did I hear that correctly we're gonna have about one officer per thousand people that's my understanding let me open my plan up here I get it from memory I think it's the last day I did open Memory yeah the emergency plans security here we go security did I remember right back or 30 security Personnel yeah yeah that's different yeah that's different yeah I was asking about officers um and as far as is there a standard for police to country music Lovers Eyes security Personnel we we basically rely on the sheriff to tell us how many people okay we're gonna pay for him to have there I mean they they make the call on that we don't right um it's their plan

038not yours essentially the well the security plan overall with the 30 to 50 security people plus the CM police plus the sheriff um is created in conjunction with the sheriff the fire department um fire department and police that they tell us we paid for it though okay we pay for that many firearmend we pay for them but I know I signed in here anyway go ahead and see if there's any other two questions as long for me as long as the I know the police department was involved in this and follow once you gave you guidance and that it was the the fire department too was involved in saying what they think is enough yeah because that's not our area of expertise so so especially the same plan we did last year I guess one

039of the other questions is with Bear Valley your choreographed Pennsylvania followed that impact it's expensive yeah they can still access yeah you can still access to get today that's not a closure yeah we're asking for a few days ahead of the event to set up but there'll be no closure during that time to closure with me coach won't be on Saturday the knicker boxes wide open yeah I'm sorry the the plan is in the um is in the slideshow here medical tank and staff on site 50 security Sheriff's one Commander two teams and two deputies two teams of cops um that was so they're going to be like hired security right typically you see at a concert a dude in a t-shirt yeah well not quite a t-shirt but they're they're professional these are the

040people that Snow Summit would hire for any event they have on site we're we're hiring Snow Summit Security Ann Brown who does their security in their special events and then she's hiring the security company that sends the security people up it looks like this on either side of the Virtual Academy yeah no well the the hard closure is what they're gonna go to star on one side the star is basically where Virtual Academy is well it looks like it's on the edge so I'm sorry what was the question about the start I just got to make sure the security the Star Security there yeah it's right beyond the Virtual Academy and then the medical tent is that that's where the concern is the the setup that you're not gonna block access to yeah to the

041parents and kids we will on Saturdays no it's not a school day but the Friday and the Thursday before Friday and Thursday we're not going to be in that area you guys have the school as usual just tear down Sunday uh tear down begins Sunday yeah and and I think we asked for a little bit more than Sunday in order to do it like a Monday Tuesday or something like that but we will be out of your way right we'll play out of your way through Friday and we'll be out of your way when school starts on Monday and then we'll do a walk through once everything's cleaned up to see what needs to be correct and then we have Marty Murray out there and if he has to reseed or it would be it

042would be smart to be overly sensitive to make sure people employees and students can get in and out it will not go well happy to be happy to do that just out of total curiosity can I ask you a quick question sure sorry so go ahead just for my information I know the Virtual Academy is I'm looking at the property management is on the left yeah but on the right is there still those maintenance they're still cafeteria yes yes okay so we got to be careful of them yes outside here so convincing areas will all be done the same where absolute zero people will be allowed to go into certain areas that all be missing correct yeah you did one on Hillside you didn't want right back in the Southeast corner right Etc um where

043is John power from um we bring in a generators we don't chance quite that was quite generally great any more questions porta potties and you know the nice trailer restrooms where you go up and you can wash your hands and do cool all that kind of stuff great no more questions well I guess I need to ask did we ever get clarification that this does not constitute a recreational use I've been I asked like four different things okay Mr Roberts asks varying way s yeah it's not an ongoing consensus for me to relationships well it's a voting item right oh yeah that's right just to give me directions to bring back a contract and I mean all of those pieces I'm confessed I am anyone have any issues with it then there's consensus thank you

044thank you thank you appreciate it thank you very much thanks Michael thank you very professional all right let's move on to number 14 this is a financial report consideration of adoption uh resolution and attention to convey real property for public Street improvements uh this was discussed in closed session so do we just want to go right to roll call okay is there a second for 14a so we can vote Yes okay second okay phone call where's my phone no carrot I'll ask because I'm listening brother Steve nose smart no no we will move on to number 15 Personnel report classified memory of understanding between Bear Valley Unified School District and account uh CSEA Chapter 415 is there a first and second move from a second any discussion roll call please remember folks aye Harry Roberts
