the chair of the parcel tax committee and she is going to present the annual report. Thank you very much. Go ahead, Miss. Good evening, superintendent board members, staff and community. My name is Janet Seurera. I am the current measure committee president. Each year the measure committee presents an annual report to the board and today I have the honor to be the presenter. Next slide please. Measure A committee began making annual reports to the board on both the fiscal accountability and impact on students of programs and personnel which are founded by measure A. This year the committee met for four times. Next slide please. The committee is made up of three community members, one parent for each of three school families in the district who have a child that is currently enrolled in one of those
schools. Two employees representing teachers. Teachers must be nominated by the union. two employees representing classified personnel, CSEA, and or Teamsters, and two employees representing management personnel. Each member has committed to a three-year term. A majority of current active members is needed for a quorum, and a quorum is needed in order to make decisions, for example, suggestions on how money should be spent as well as evalating how the money was spent. And you can see the names of our members for our current members on the slide. Next slide, please. Uh we still need to fill three more vacant membership seats and they are listed here on our slide. So, we need a community member. We need an employee representative, either CSEA or Teamster. And we also need one parent representative for the Pedmont family. Next slide,
please. The Measure A committee oversight responsibilities are the following. Fiscal accountability and impact on students. The annual review of funds received and how they were spent was reviewed at the October 14, 2024 meeting. The allocations are consistent with the original proposed Measure A ballot. Each year, the committee provides data to show board members how Measure A funds impact our students. This year, the district used the Smarter Balance Assessment to test for English, language arts, and math for all students on the grades from third grade to 8th grade. Next slide, please. Measure A funds the following specific programs and services. Attracting and retaining qualified teachers. Maintaining science and math proficiencies as well as technology and counseling. Keeping school libraries open. Providing hands-on science instruction. keeping classroom technology up to date and funding programs that enhance student
achievement. Next slide, please. The following chart displays English language arts performance over three years. Variesa Union Elementary consistently outperformed both the Santa Clara and the state of California by maintaining scores above 64%. While Santa Clara showed a slight decline, estate performance remained relatively flat around the 47%. So we are above as you can see which is really good, right? Next slide please. The following ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch chart shows a percentage of students meeting or exceeding mathematics standards over three years as well. The Bessa Union Elementary consistently outperformed both Santa Clara and the state of California by maintaining scores above 50% each year. In contrast,
the state average remained below 36%. And Santa Clara showed a slight decline in the 2023 2024 Next slide, please. The number of positions funded by measure A are less than what we originally designated at the beginning of the school year. Salaries continue to increase whether it's by the stepman column raises and/or increase in benefits. The positions that can no longer be founded by measure A are funded through other unrestricted funds. For example, we no longer fund the counselors, but the counselors are going to be funded through the local control accountability plan, LCAP. Next slide. Does anybody have any questions? This will conclude my presentation. Any questions from or any comments from the board? Good job, Yan. This is a very good presentation. Thank you for showing us all the figures. It's very good.
