feelings mix emotions hey that's a good sign on behalf of this graduating class I it's an honor to stand here before you all as your guest speaker for the eighth grade promotion my name is k Mendoza many of you might not know me me some of you may know me from a while ago but I remember I sat right where you were sitting well technically in clopping theater we had more shade in there too we're out in the sun out here now I remember feeling those emotional anxious feelings about what the future is going to hold I mean that was 16 years ago when I started high school here at CSD 16 years ago hey I'm not that old I swear looking back those years went by in a blink of an eye a lot

of memories were made some of the best years I had and I miss how free I felt as a young child and I realized I'm grateful to have the privilege to have grown up in an environment such as CSD this school in the Bay Area really played a big role in shaping who I am today I don't want to start a Sab story and bore you all but I promise this place is a special place you're going to meet at all kinds of people here hey I I must admit I wasn't always a good student here but this place gave me the space the tools and the opportunity to grow as a person and now I have grown as a person with so many experiences that I will forever cherish sometimes people ask me what

kind of artist I am and it does take a while for me to respond to those questions I love art I love art in many different forms I love art in many different forms and just as the two of them had mentioned I do have some experience working in the film settings working with a small crew to a very large crew of 50 people over 50 people I've shown my art and photography in museums and galleries I've done tattoos on a onetoone basis to a large group I've gone through different experience es and that's what realiz made me realize that there are many things that I can do some of us might just want to do one thing but some of us want to do more than one thing and that's fine as a proud

alni of this school here at CSD and reflecting this day I'm really excited for you all and your exciting chapter in high school I want to share a message with you all regardless if you see yourself as an artist or an athlete or a scientist a leader or simply a person an individual if you feel your calling and what your heart is telling you listen listen to it explore many things as you can find what you like and what you don't like find out what kind of person you want to become now remember your journey your journey is here to shape you not anyone else you can always make changes if you don't like the person that you've been or what you have done you can always make changes until you become the person that

you want to be every single one of you you have special talents and passions and that is what's going to shape your path moving forward and contributing to the world stay true to yourselves believe in yourselves support each other regardless of your dreams big or small how silly you may think it is how serious they may be they are valid your path might not always be an easy one you may experience some challenges but remember every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and grow from believe that big things will happen to you your future looks bright and hot right I cannot wait to see the amazing things that you will be doing transitioning into high school is exciting and a fun time perish this time before you go out into the real world because life

will look different this time will bring you new opportunities experiences and friends that will last a lifetime be excited stay curious stay bold and continue to try something new if you're curious go for it be kind be the person to uplift others be the person to support your peers and to stand up for what is Right action no matter how small can make a big impact in someone else's life and now you all will be entering High School carry those lessons that you've learned and the friends that that you've made and the spirit of this community aim high for the universe is huge possibilities are Limitless and now finally congratulations to you eighth graders you have wrapped up middle school and now you can say peace out right let's do it with me peace out
