our um i'm sure favorite part of board agenda we recognize our students um so i would first like to start with student spotlight and the first person up is dr saba araya if you would please share with us your student spotlight for this month good evening everyone our student spotlight is justin martin and uh justin is a junior uh this year and he came to us in the spring of last year from another school and we're so proud to have him one of the things that um i really want to um speak today about is that justin is not just your average um or he can't be placed in a box just saying that he's an athlete he's passionate about learning he came to us with a 4.0 gpa he currently still her 4.0 gpa

so that's just to be commended all together um thank you and then one of the things that stood out to me about justin is that last spring um our school sponsored uh a read-a-thon so to speak and kind of like a book challenge and justin was the only student that completed the five book and five weeks challenge and um and as you can see on the screen one of the things he's also passionate about is social change so we we want to say that justin is just an amazing student he dedicated to learning and to being the best football player and the best student and he has a growth mindset and so for that we are just so honored to have him as a student there are two other persons that would love to speak

on behalf of um justin and i first want to say that miss williams our counselor is on with us as well as his football coach melvon james who's not with us but definitely wanted to speak tonight so i am going to speak for him he sent in um this these words about justin so this is from coach james first i would like to thank you for the opportunity to speak on behalf of justin martin he's a true pioneer a distinct reflection of what it means to be a student athlete justin possesses all attributes and organizations in a quarterback and most importantly the face of your program he's a combination of an elite athlete exceptional scholar and well-rounded individual justin has transformed honing in on the challenges of a rigorous training regiment in order to earn

a number of eminent athletic scholarships while continuously pushing himself academically to earn scholarships from some of the most prestigious universities in the country justin is a true leader with the ability to motivate drive and challenge his peers while being an exemplar example for others through his action he's the exact model of what any coach would ask for i'm honored to coach this young man and i look forward to all the greatness he will accomplish as a student and as a member of the inglewood football program and now i would like to pass it on to ms williams our wonderful counselor to say a few words on behalf of justin i just wanted to say that justin is just such an amazing student and i remember vividly speaking to his mother she called in january of

last year and she was she wanted to make sure that our school was going to challenge justin was going to provide make sure that our environment was supportive that we were going to give him the tools that he needed to be successful in college and since that time he's taken multiple honors classes he's taking he just finished today actually his second college course and he's also taken our cambridge advanced subsidiary courses and he has thrived in all of them and i just i i it just makes me feel so good he came from sarah high school and his his parents expectations were very high and i just feel so excited and grateful that they chose our school and that we could be a pro part of this journey of his he's just amazing and justin

from the bottom of my heart just congratulations i love it dr wright does that conclude your presentation that concludes i'm sorry that it was our presentation i know jess and his family are watching right now so congrats to um the martin family absolutely we echo the congratulations to mr martin it takes a whole lot to be that successful at that young age congratulations justin so as we transition from city honors to crozier miss french could not be with us this evening though we all know her very well and know how much she would have wanted to be here representing her and crozier is miss ermer allstatter who will present to us our student spotlight for crozier miss all center thank you so much for being with us this evening is she here do we see

her in the um in attendance i'm sorry i need to change my views so i can dr lucas i see her name and it's unmuted it's irma all starter yes yeah i see her name um let's see so i'll say i'm i'm going to go ahead and read the um student spotlight from mr gonzalez um because we want to make sure he's recognized if you are able to speak please interrupt me at any time because i know it'll be more special to him if you were to do it okay so we couldn't be prouder than to spotlight seventh grade crozier middle school student gerardo gonzalez gerardo exemplifies excellence in all of his classes even virtually and we all know that is no small feat he has perfect attendance also incredibly amazing during virtual learning and

a 3.5 gpa he not only attends every class every day but is eager to participate in class lessons and activities he never misses a chance to shine bardo's teachers describe him as hard-working polite and ready to learn they deem his work habits and citizenship as outstanding radio enjoys playing outdoor games such as tag and hide and seek which i did too at your age mr gonzalez okay i just wanted to share that he also loves to draw video game characters with his cousins at home he enjoys helping his mom with his baby sister he would like to attend ucla or usc for college you have a lot of support for that mr gonzalez on this on this on google me and wants to become an environmental scientist one day and we definitely need that but

obviously says that he would like to find ways to save plants and animals from from becoming extinct that is so important haraldo has um this advice to share with other iusd students believe in yourself and try your best if you fail try and try again never give up and mr gonzalez if i may say that's great advice for the adults in iusd too right i would i think okay so we want to bring great congratulations to mr gonzalez one of the things i'd like to share as we close this part of the agenda is i love that we have two stars at the top of our student spotlight our students are constellation of stars and each month we get to recognize one two or three or four of those stars in our great constellation of

incredible students our students are all stars and we get the we have the pleasure of sharing some of those stars each month so thank you and congratulations to mr martin and mr gonzalez can we give it up for them one more time thank you dr araya and team for participating this evening i am just so impressed by our students and i'm so excited for the opportunity to recognize them this evening i want to again congratulate mr justin martin from city honors mr gerardo gonzalez from crozier we're so proud of you and you are representing the inglewood unified school district is such an amazing way i i love um you know what what mr gonzalez said is believe in yourself never give up and that is so timely especially now we're dealing with so many challenges

but to see that mr martin mr gonzalez and our other amazing scholars in our district are so resilient and we just wanted to congratulate you again thank you so much for your participation we're going to open it up to our board members for any questions comments dr scorza thank you so much dr torres dr dr mcgee kudos to our students and our teachers and our parents for um just being a support system so that our children can uh achieve and our children um just continue to um push forward during this pandemic fantastic thank you so much dr mcgee ms grigsby no comments thank you thank you so much mrs frixby uh miss evans i'd just like to congratulate our students that they are excelling during this pandemic because i often think about them doing what

they're doing and how they're pushing through it it really makes me proud uh dr araya i know you're proud of that young man who's a scholar athlete sorry he can't show his athletic prowess right now but he's pushing ahead uh on the scholarly part that's for sure and gerardo i just like what you said about believing in yourself because if you don't believe in yourself it doesn't matter what everybody else thinks as long as you believe in yourself so i'm very proud of you as well thank you very much and i'm so happy that we had these two students to spot right to feed more that's right thank you so much miss evans it is always a pleasure to see the leadership of our young folk and how it shows up especially during this time

that's been rough for so many of our families uh to continue to thrive uh in the midst of all of the challenges we're facing is a testament i think to the the many to your parents first of all uh but to the many teachers and staff and and district leaders that we have that are providing an environment for you to be successful so i want to continue to encourage you to stay on this road i want to thank you for your hard work and let you know that either ucla or usc would be a great place to go um that that and i'm sure they will welcome you with open arms given all the amazing things that you both are doing so kudos and uh and good luck uh during the school year thank you

so much board members we appreciate your comments i'm going to move us to item 5b of our agenda and we're going to continue to celebrate our students staff and parents and this evening board members and community we have the opportunity to honor students staff and parents from latina academy of excellence and crozier middle school and i'm going to ask dr lucas to please get us started thank you so much dr torres um again another favorite part of the agenda for all of us um to dr torres point we now have the opportunity to recognize two school communities as we do every month because that's where the action is that's what matters most our school sites so um i'm so sorry i can't see the agenda is latihada first i i thought i saw lahere first

yes okay fantastic so if i may hand off to mr brent tilly principal of latijera thank you dr lucas and thank you board uh before i get started our asb president is on the line dr lucas would it be appropriate for him to say a few words anthony holloway absolutely mr kelly absolutely i love it anthony the floor is yours okay good evening my name is will anthony holloway i am a seventh grader at lottie herrera k through eighth academy of excellence i was elected asb president in november through online election next week asb is hosting a zoom movie night where we will get to socialize beforehand through themed breakout rooms run by our lottie hera teachers the students will be looking forward to now that we have been doing distance learning for seven months

i can honestly say that i am enjoying this experience greatly my favorite class is math with dr muir and we are currently studying algebraic expressions thank you all right mr holloway that was a perfect transition to the rest of the latter presentation thank you thank you and dr lucas let me let me out myself uh his principal told him at the last minute and he pulled that off i have to thank you anthony i had some backup comments but i think yours are better than mine so just have to be honest here so having shared that we have several people that we're going to honor this evening and i assure dr luke sentiments by saying this is probably uh my favorite part of any board meeting is just to hear about all the wonderful things

our our teachers students our family and staff are doing here at logi here in our district as a whole so i know i have a number of parents who are calling in as opposed to to uh using the um the google meets so if it's okay dr lucas i'd like to just share a little bit about each one and then we'll go from there does that work absolutely mr tilly we love we love hearing more about okay members so oftentimes you know when you present these types of awards to students you know you know the students but you kind of know them in passing you don't always know their whole story and i'm really happy to say that the next two students are the first the two students that i'm going to share with you

um i've had a chance to work with them closely uh pre and during pandemic the first student kevin guadal uh when we first met we had some really interesting conversations about our expectations and what we want to do and how we need to carry ourselves as young men and to kevin's credit he's always had a lot of energy he's always been a student who's been extremely curious and he's always just wanted to do better and so when i talk to the rest of our staff and our leadership team about you know what i'd love to honor every student and i'd like to hear but who are a couple just that just really stand out kevin's was the first name that came up and it was because of the growth that he's shown throughout these times

and as we all know pandemic learning isn't always easy right and so anthony kind of shared some of his experience with it and the feedback that i get about kevin and what i see in his classroom is just outstanding he's really taken to this almost like a fish out of walk fish to water he's been extremely engaged he's on top of his work and he's just grown so much just academically socially uh the whole nine yards so i just want to take this moment to honor him and his family for a job well done and want to continue to support their goals so kevin and the next young man kyron lumsen again another student that i've had opportunity to work closely with since i've arrived at la tierra and one of the great things about

being in education or being educator in general is you really get a chance to see kids grow not just mentally and academically but socially as well and it's a cliche but it's really true he's really becoming a fine young man and i'm really proud of the progress i've seen of them when we first met i used to scratch my head a lot i'll be honest with you what am i going to do with kyron but he's really again stepped up he's rounding into shape i'm really confident he's going to have an awesome four years in high school college and beyond and i'm just really happy to be a part of that journey so cairo hats off to you keep up the good work don't get a big head about this but i really want to

acknowledge you publicly for all that you've done this year and just how you've matured and now you're a true leader here at la tierra so congratulations cairo so the next two folks are staff here at lottie here and i was really excited to be able to talk to them personally about this honor so the first person is santos rapiria she's a long time teacher at lottie here she's our kinder teacher and one of the things that i first noticed when i joined the staff almost two years ago was just her dedication to our students for high expectations for them and the support she provides them and our families and she's truly a model for our staff on a personal note i come from a secondary place an elementary place and her team have been extremely

accommodating to me and i've learned a lot about early childhood education because of her but she's one of those teachers at parents request she's the gateway to our school and i can see the the handiness i guess i could see the results of her work and our seventh graders and our eighth graders because they she's just laid such a great foundation for us so uh quick aside about mr peria it's classic her so i call her to talk to her about this honor and she goes on four minutes straight about this wonderful pd she just came from and i could get a word in edgewise and i feel like i know the whole pd backwards in front i didn't have to go because mr perry gave me a very thorough report on it and what

she's going to do next and but that's her that's classic her so i really appreciate the expectations she has for our kids and the hard work she puts in each and every day so miss rapiria and she's listening i think she's on her son's computer so and our next staff member is miss thompson mr trail thompson joined lot here when i did and i don't know if this says something about me or hr but i'm working on my third office manager all right and trishell's been there the whole time and she's she's really held it down for us and as far as stability maturity uh empathy knowing how to work with parents knowing how to work with guardians it's really an art and it's something that's you can have your regulations and your policies and

your protocols and your expectations but you have to have it here too right you have to have the heart for the workers she definitely has a heart for the workers she's someone that i trust completely with the main office and she does the work of two people so i wanted to take this opportunity to honor her publicly miss trishell thompson in our next adult and i'm see if i can get to this presentation without any african proverbs right but i'm trying not to but uh you know which one i'm thinking of because it does take a village but miss mathis is one of our parents that has been around lottie here for years and whenever you need some help some assistance whether it be volunteering assisting with fundraising making sure her children come to school

and they're prepared to be awesome learners working with our staff working with the office staff working with mrs eckles whatever it is she'll do it and you know she's a role model as a parent and one of the things that i like to share with the staff and the kids is to it's really important to model the behavior that you want to see in others and it's something i have to remind myself all the time and she's someone who just kind of does it effortlessly and so i really appreciate her and all of our parents actually but i just want to take this moment to honor her publicly as well miss marina mathis and last but certainly not least uh this parent ms dominguez is one of the first parents i met a lottie here

a few years ago she's someone that hasn't it's just a very optimistic solution-oriented attitude i i can't think of another way to put it and she always wants to see not just her children but the grade level the school do well um she's accommodating she always wants to do more for our school and even though it's a cliche it's really true on her part she's a team player she's the type of person to be the first one at school side counsel right i mean she's someone i can always depend on to give me candidate bias good bad or indifferent but to most importantly just be engaged with the school i want to make sure we as a community continue to do our best and so with parents like her and miss mathis my job is

relatively easy it's a real joy because they help keep me engaged and motivated so i want to honor mr dominguez publicly but i also want to honor all of our parents our entire staff i could i bring them all here of course all of our kids i'm really impressed with what we've all done throughout uh the pandemic and how we just continued us to move forward demand the best from uh all involved so having shared that thank you dr lucas for giving me this time thank you dr taurus for your support and your leadership and of course board i know i have a parent on the board and a mentor dr mcgee and the rest of the board thank you all for your support your leadership through this time fantastic and i think we're coming

up to one last certificate for la tijera oh surprise surprise mr brent tilly i think you're a little little humble a couple of minutes ago when you said your job is easy i personally feel one most difficult job on the planet um outside of teachers principal um someone did a study on the number of decisions principals make in a day and it's it's it's incredible um so to mr tilly i want to publicly congratulate thank and acknowledge your leadership not just at la tijera which deserves acknowledgement and honoring but also at the district level as you serve as a leader of the inglewood management association representing your peers your fellow certificated management you are deeply thoughtful about instruction one of the things i very much appreciate about you is that you are unafraid to challenge

conventional thinking and to speak up and that is very necessary when you're educating students there's no there's no such thing there's no such thing as uh yes people um we need divergent and collaborative thinkers so that we can come up with the best possible instructional program at the site and district level and you are the personification of that and you should uh feel very proud of that in my humble opinion thank you dr lucas i appreciate that it's the truth mr tilly um so we want to thank you for your outstanding dedication to la tijera tk8 academy of excellence thank you mr tilley thank you it's my pleasure thank you sir we transition now back to crozier miss all said do you have audio now let's see does someone see miss allstatter in the lineup

for attendance i'm going to try to change my views so i can check no mr holloway you don't see her thank you for dr lucas we can see her name on the list but we just can't hear her um can't or miss i'll say i'll say i'll state it i'll stay here if you can hit star six on your phone i think that might um unmute you because she's probably needed automatically can you hear me now yes welcome so sorry thank you for joining us we appreciate you so sorry no apologies good evening everybody on behalf of mrs france um we would like to um recognize some of our awesome students at crozier middle school outstanding students um firstly we have um jasmine kyle jasmine is an a student who always goes above and beyond

of community know that we have been planning for school reopening since march with both expert and stakeholder input and as i've mentioned in the past we established a district-wide safety task force that has met weekly since march and i also realized that there have been a lot of questions regarding the new los angeles county temporary targeted safer at home health order and also the california regional stay-at-home order and there have been some recent operating operational changes that have been announced by districts that are nearby and so i just wanted to reiterate that this order stipulates that employees of a public school district have been classified as essential critical infrastructure workers also known as essential workers and can continue to work on site even if no students are on campus and so at the inglewood unified

school district we are committed to continuing to adhere to safety protocols and to implement the guidance of the los angeles county department of public health i just wanted to also take this opportunity to thank our amazing custodians our entire maintenance and operations department for always ensuring that all of our campuses our offices are sanitized they're clean and that we continue to provide all of the essential protective equipment as always we're committed to the highest possible safety standards attention to detail and so i just wanted to acknowledge our staff we have been working on developing a reopening plan to ensure safety we continue to work very closely with ita with calpro with ima and all of our district leadership team parents our community partners to ensure a safe reopening we have surveyed our staff and our

families our students around safety and whether or not they feel that is that it is safe to come back to our campuses and so we're going to be providing you uh with an update on that um i also wanted to thank and acknowledge mr norberto perez our chief operating officer he is overseeing all of our safety and operations and also miss tiffany egan she's the executive director of human resources and risk management and they're going to provide an update for us today i want us to continue to remember that although we're experiencing challenges it's been a tough year that we're all in this together and we're all supporting the beautiful community of inglewood as a unified family this evening we're going to have an opportunity to hear from susan chidas she's a program director for

community health and safe schools with the los angeles county office of education so i'm going to turn it over to mr perez who's going to get us started mr bettis great good evening everyone thank you so much dr torres um board members community families parents thank you for being here today to hear this important update regarding health and safety from iusd as dr torres stated i will be presenting the plan of iusd along with my colleague tiffany egan and a special guest of susan chitis as well next slide inglewood unified school district is committed to ensuring a safe welcoming and nurturing learning environment for all students to staff this picture here just you know depicts you know the the collaborative effort that iusd since day one since march 16 have been working together as a

team ensuring that our families our employees and everyone around us in terms of our community is always safe next slide please today's presentation is going to have three sections the first section will talk about the communication and planning on health and safety since march 16 2020. the middle section will be about the current health and safety procedures currently in place and the last one will be the potential reopening next slide please before i begin the first section it is my pleasure and honor to have susan chad as project director three of community health and staff who's from the los angeles county office of education present the current status of culvert 19. so susan yes good evening everyone it's a pleasure to be here um thank you board members so just as an update i wanted

to provide um i i am the county ladies and from laco to the la county department of public health and we work very closely with them and i'm just going to present an overview of what's the state the status of the state as well as the regions and the county so um and and the city so next slide please so as we look at um the data for the state so this is uh represents data from the december 1st but actually we have even more current data from uh december 8th and it showed that we have the number of positive cases has increased at last time it was 30.2 uh cases per 100 000 now we're up to 34 cases per 100 000 people the positive positivity rate meaning you know the percentage of positive

cases over the number of cases that has increased from uh on december 1st from 6.4 up to 8.4 this week and then they also have added another measure called the icu availability maybe looking at how many icu beds are available in the state and we are for the state as as 11.6 percent and they want it to be at least 15 percent or more the next piece is that the state has also broken california into regions where they added that just this last week and we are part of the southern california region which is quite a large area all of southern california down to our lower border up until kind of to the right of the san joaquin valley so we're quite large in what's covered by the southern california region but they they divided

the state into five different regions to look at the icu availability and our again the target is 15 or higher and if a dist for region falls below that 15 percent then they can go into a regional stay home order the southern california region is at nine percent so we are well below the 15 so that did put us into a regional stay home order as of december 6 and that will last for at least three weeks and until the forecast of the trends that they look at would bring us back up to about 15 so it is very likely that we we will stay in this stay home region um past the three weeks of december 27th and quite possibly into january when we look at the status for la county they give us

a number of different rates they look at a case rate an adjusted case rate and positivity rate so our case rate is 41.8 per 100 000 but when they compare us around with other counties throughout the state and the data that they use to assign us a tier level they use an adjusted case rate so it's a weighted factor so our adjusted case rate for la county is 26.9 and that's what they used to assign our tier they also looked at our positivity rate which is 8.7 percent and then they've also added another metric called a health equity quartile looking at our most vulnerable uh community tracks and that is at 13.9 percent so since we have started the tier system a few months ago we have remained in tier one we have never made

it out of tier one which would allow us to fully open our schools so we do remain there our targets for our adjusted case rate is seven and right now we're at 26.9 so we're well very much in a surge our positivity rate um our our target is eight percent and we are been in eight point percent and then our health equity measure our target is 8 and we are at 13.9 percent so um before they started the regional safe orders or stay home orders our county was also in a safer at-home order that began november 30th because we were seeing a surge at that time and that was supposed to allow from november 30th to for three weeks until december 20th however that has now been superseded by the regional stay home order because

of our icu bed capacity so um we're in the state order right now so both of the or whichever one you look at both have permitted that schools can continue to provide whatever a level of services that they have been approved for or are providing so that means that yes as was stated earlier that schools can continue to be open for essential workers which are teachers and education staff to provide remote learning and support services to students remotely there for some schools that are are providing some limited services to students um if they added with these new orders that if there's any outbreak of three or more cases they will automatically close the school so when we look at the the next slide this is looking at inglewood the city of englewood and there have

been over 4 000 um you know from week to week and you can see this is a cumulative number and in the blue you'll see this is the current week and then you see in the orange um that over that week there were 540 new cases over the previous week so it is continuing to see the surge as well um within the community so to talk about the potential for reopening these previous numbers um that we saw in in the in the surge that we were seeing these have all been prior to thanksgiving and with the thanksgiving holiday uh the data that's what we're starting to see this week of this new data so that would be over this week and next week which we would see the the impact from thanksgiving holidays so la

county has reported record numbers not only in cases but in hospitalizations and now we're starting to see an increase in the number of deaths as well the expectation or the forecast is that we are going to continue to see a surge um you know this is going to take us to just before thanksgiving i mean to just before the christmas holidays and as we go over christmas and new year holidays the expectation is that it will continue to surge and from the from the christmas winter holidays we will see those numbers reflected in probably our mid-january data so the likely likeliness is that the surge will continue towards the end of january so schools can continue as they currently are and really no seeing any changes at least through prob likely the end of january

as our data improves and we get off the state order and as long as we're no longer in a county safer at home order that's when we're looking at possibly adding a little bit more but it's really not till we move from tier uh the purple tear to the next tier the red tier that we're likely not likely to open schools fully until that time so are there any questions thank you miss chydas for your report we appreciate you joining us and of course your ongoing support is so critical in our reopening planning process so we're going to open it up to our board members to see if they have any questions so far uh doctor yeah i don't have any questions uh miss grigsby or miss miss evans no questions yet thank you ms

evans or dr mcgee i don't have any questions yet but just listening to the news that i know and listening to the people in my conferences how they had opened school for some special ed students and so forth to come in for in-person learning now all schools are closing englewood didn't do it but this is this is just the state we don't know from day to day what's going to happen because this is something we've never experienced before so we're just doing everything that we can do from day to day on a day-to-day basis so i'm appreciative that you are presenting this so that our parents can hear this and our community can hear that it's not us that's keeping the schools closed it's just a safety issue for everyone involved in our district so

we just can't open schools right away so thank you for your report thank you so much for sending us any questions yeah i just really wanted to echo what um ms evans just said you could not have come at a better time i've been hearing from parents and you know it's just a um it's it's uh i don't want to use the word frightening i think that's just too strong but there is a concern out there and i think by having you come in and share with the community um for more of a state level it helps us to um kind of craft our messaging out to the public because as i've explained to a lot of my shareholders in my in my district we're all in this together we just don't know from day

to day what the data is going to um show and so we just have to do our due diligence and wear masks keep our hands clean and practice social distancing but this is a real clear picture of how important it is and that we are essential workers and that we have to be mindful of what we're being asked to do from the state level on down and for my parents and teachers when you have questions are concerned don't hesitate because it helps us to do our job so i just really wanted to thank you for such a thorough overview of what's happening in the state of california thank you so much dr mcgee i think that's all core secretary thank you so much board members so ms chaitis thank you so much for joining us

this evening and for your report i'm gonna you're welcome to mr pettis great great thank you i also want to thank uh susan for that report and especially our board members again to reiterate what dr torres has said is that we are truly committed to ensuring that our students uh families and employees are at a safe place so thank you for that uh next fight please so in this slide uh basically just to remembering uh what iusd has done since day one right before even march 16. iusd has been sending communication to families when we all were hearing it for the first time since january um even in december there's a little bit of news there but uh it was more february we started hearing more about cover 19 iusd has been at the forefront

uh getting information and sending information to families to ensure that they were informed and unfortunately the day on march 16 2020 is when we did clone our campuses uh you know for distance learning um to you know since then we have had only distance learning you know since the fall spring and summer semesters that have passed us through again to ensure that we are safe after that we did become proactive and started a reopening task force that we launched to ensure that we were looking at all of the information that was coming from cdc from los angeles county department of health services along with los angeles county office of education next slide please so once this distance learning went into effect and i think we are very familiar with distance learning now all instruction continues

to be in distance learning the only time we had students on ground was for distributions of school supplies or parents and grounds again it was for distribution of supplies whether it was textbooks electronics or even some of the donated items that we have received additionally you know the biggest point i want to put forward is that personal protective equipment has always been enforced ensuring that we are always safe at all times again being the essential workers uh as identified as an educational entity we wanted to ensure that we are providing the best instruction that we can just like some of our board members commented following the guidelines and ensuring that all of our students are getting all the equipment to be able to learn as best as possible next slide please since march 16 iusd

again has been in the forefront we've been in the news we've been on the newspaper uh about again a big thank you to our food service workers we have not uh had a day without distribution of meals to our children to our students um additionally we've had various uh amounts of food distribution for families ensuring that we were all safe and ensuring that they all had meals again a big thank you for our distribution not only from the food services but all of the other volunteers that have helped us and to ensure that we were always able to provide meals to our families the pictures that are depicted here is number one is from some of our food services from the upper left the middle one you can see how we are also enforcing at

all times that have enforced at all times the guidelines from the los angeles county department of health services about social distancing and the bottom picture is the drive-through giveaways of food that we also have everything has been coordinated i mean it's just been amazing the amount of support from the community as well from our families i mean it's great to hear our families comment that you know sometimes unfortunately this is the only time they were able to get food so again iusd is proud to continue to to provide the meals for them next slide please the reopening task force as it was launched you know encompassed our county administrator myself as chief operating officer cabinet members executive director of human resources ms egan we had parents on the task force students our labor partners participated

as well as well as the school nurses community partners and additionally our board our iu as these school board members were part of this task force and it was a great task for us it continues to be a great task force because we brought the different perspective a different lens at different levels of what an iusd needed in terms of a potential reopening we brought the safety issues we looked at the directives from ali county department of health services from cdc and we started to create a plan and plan of course is our health and safety plan thank you next slide so next this section we're going to talk about the current health and safety procedures um and currently the procedures that are in place and are continuing to be emphasized next slide please so

within all the work that has occurred with the task force and the district safety committees we've developed a health and safety plan you can see it on the left that is the cover sheet of it it is it is completed of course it is a living document as we all know the current pandemic situation is is something that is very uh fluid and may be adopted and changed nevertheless we have developed a great plan that emphasizes again the health and safety of not only the students but the employees and families and visitors at all times we continue to have weekly meetings with the los angeles county office of education in addition with the los angeles county department of health services to receive at firsthand experts advice of what is necessary to conduct any type of

operations in education and the potential reopening as well we continue to have monthly district safety committee meetings you know as a district and looking at procedures and guidelines and how we could emphasize and make them stronger ongoing communication with principals and school site safety committees uh to help them train to uh in terms of cleanliness or procedures and any other needs that they may have the district has been able to provide the services and will continue to provide those services next slide please one of the items we are implementing is pre-screening questions so all employees currently are supposed to do home screening before they actually come to grounds not only are they supposed to do the home screening they also are receiving a wellness pre-screening on any type of campus that they are on grounds

of iusd we have also designated staff to start conducting the screenings to ensure that it is a proper process in ensuring that you know if anybody could be a possible case it's not admitted in order to avoid a positive situation next slide please face coverings is a requirement at all times at iusd that is a procedure directed from iusd that at all times everyone including visitors must have a face covering at all times not only is the face covering required but iusd is also supplying uh face mask if and when it's needed we have a monthly distribution or as needed basis we also have face shields for those who would like to have facials as well we've implemented sneeze guards in various locations at all school main offices and other uh requested uh locations especially

also the district office the signage is posted everywhere as much as possible to help ensure that everybody is aware that face mask is a requirement at all times thank you next that's like please temperature checks temperature checks is also uh an item that we're implementing so at all times at any ingress location uh on campus that we are going to we are conducting temperature checks not only are we conducting temperature checks with uh handheld devices but we have also purchased the uh kiosk the temperature kiosk you see on the upper right hand corner these are touchless um temperature readers that uh are currently being deployed to all the schools some schools already have them they have been uh getting programmed but all of them will have them by uh end of this week they will

have all temperature kiosks this not only helps um ensuring that the person that is entering the facility is does not have the symptom but it also helps keeping uh you know the contact a little bit to a less effect since we're not having a person to the actually handheld uh temperature check face using glove availability is available also that does not mean that we're not going to use the handheld but face shields and glove availability is also available for our wellness cleaners next slide please safety signage is super important i think we all could agree the poster you see on the left side is a reminder that you know staying safe is not just a one person or a one entity responsibility it is a responsibility of everyone staying safe and healthy is everyone's job

and it just reminds everybody these posters were also purchased and have been displayed at all locations we also have uh of the floor decals you know again um with our logo to emphasize again the importance of social distancing if and when we have any type of a line for any type of distribution they have been purchased and are available um i call them a care packages uh in terms of signage that i issue to all the schools not only on these kind of drug composers but they're also located uh available to them and smaller size for the classrooms as well next slide please next slide thank you uh hand sanitizer stations um i i i don't think i need to talk about hand sanitizers about how important they are i think we all could agree

you know early on in march this was a a hard commodity to you know be able to get i'm happy to say that not only are we fully equipped we have enough supply to end the year if and when we do reopen we have enough supply to end the year we uh you know iusd i made sure had enough hand sanitizer not only do we have hand sanitizer stations we have the electric electronic dispensers as well some that are in stand some that are on walls we also have the regular hand sanitizer dispensers that are the regular you know push pump dispensers additionally i have been able to secure classroom hand sanitizers for every single classroom in our district i want to ensure that not only are the students and and employees able to uh

be uh and to utilize the hand sanitizer station but i want to make sure that every single classroom is safe and hand sanitizer also is available and will be available in the classroom as well um you can see the picture on the lower left i also want to make it more personal that is a logo of health first hand sanitization with our logo so i'm also i don't want to promote any type of brand so i want to make sure that i all of hansen terms will be utilizing our own decal promoting the hand sanitizer station as well next slide please getting ready for that potential reopening it continues to be a proactive approach uh safety cones were purchased for all the schools um not only the safety codes were purchased but the plastic chains

and the pic in the picture you see below you could see so that the studio that the the excuse to start getting ready um in terms of uh creating an ingress and egress and ensuring that one way signage is also posted so that we can help students guide them in one way and not going both directions um this uh has been already have been allocated and has been actually delivered to the schools we're not putting the cones up yet unless it's in a hallway because of course if we're going to put them outside we'll wait for that day social distancing posters are also being displayed and are available again advising and reminding everybody that social distancing is always be uh is always necessary at all times next slide please these following documents are imperative in

ensuring not only the that we have ppe equipment but they're imperative to ensuring that if and when we do have a positive case we have a system of control and easiness not only for the district but for every school site as well the first document you see in the upper left is our iusd cova 19 screening flow chart this was developed to ensure a safety uh i mean an easiness of uh understanding if and when we had a possible case it's it's mostly meant for the schools or the nurse could actually utilize and see what steps to follow if and when we have a potential positive case the second document in the middle is the covert 19 case protocol if and when we do have an actual positive case that has been identified this will

guide the principal or the supervisor to know what steps to follow who to contact and what to go and want to do next and the last document you see in the lower uh right is the iusd exposure management plan not only is this a requirement from los angeles county department of health services but it's also essential to understanding what to do as a district if and when we have an exposure it tells you the steps whether it's a one positive case two positive case or three or more [Music] next slice [Music] in this slide we're going to talk about contact tracing and i'm going to turn over the couple of slides to my partner miss ian you are on thank you good evening everyone board members cabinet um everyone that's viewing tonight thank you so

much for this opportunity um to present this information so we have a pretty robust district level contact tracing uh procedure in place and it kind of takes place behind the scenes um this is a diagram that really kind of gives you the the steps that we take so when we have a positive case reported we confirm the positive case with test results and while we're waiting on that we contact the individual the infected individual and we provide them with support we have email templates that go out to them with resources um information regarding leaps of absence uh resources through the county um through the cdc um we do regular check-ins with them until they're released and we just give them a lot of instruction we also during our initial call with them we identify contacts

and so we we go through every person that they interacted with during the infectious period and the infectious period is actually it's two days before a positive test result or asymptomatic or it's two days before the onset of symptoms and so we track that we go back two days we identify every single individual that they interacted with and then we go through each of those contacts and ask a series of questions to determine if those are actual closed contacts if you will and a close contact i'm sure everyone knows this but it's um someone who was within six feet of an infected individual now it's for a cumulative 15 minutes over 24 hours used to be 15 minutes at a time now it's 15 minutes over 24 hours so it could be five minutes now

five minutes in the morning in five minutes tomorrow afternoon that would be 15 minutes or if someone sneezes or coughs on you and you exchange a bodyweight boy so we determine if those individuals that we identified are closed contacts or just interactions and from there we start to make phone calls so our close contacts are always first and we talk to them we direct them to get tested it's a 14-day quarantine um you know and then if they do happen to turn positive which we haven't had that yet so we're really really proud of that um we would follow the guidelines where they would not be able to come back until 10 days after the initial onset of their symptoms their symptoms have to resolve and no fever for 24 hours um and then the

other individuals we kind of take it a step beyond what we're even required to do so the closed contacts you know that's that's what we have to do but we go beyond that and we call all of those other individuals who are just interactions and we ask them to quarantine and to get tested and once they get their test results assuming that it's negative which again it has been in all of our cases so far um then we just ask them again have we developed any symptoms and then they are able to return to work so that's a step that we don't have to take but we do it because we want to just act in an abundance of caution so that is really the process in a nutshell we have a behind the scenes

database where we're tracking everything we're logging on these cases tracking our contacts our phone calls our follow-ups our results everything so it's very organized and um we're actually doing some cross-training now so that there are a couple of other people in our department that can assist with this um and then we also utilize the database because we have several reporting um requirements we have the county which has their format uh we have to report to our third party administrator for workers comp cal osha has their own um you know they just came out with some new some new um guidance so it's ever changing and so we use this to keep us on track so that we can report accordingly so next slide please i think i have one more okay so this is really

just um a breakdown of what i just described um and it's just you know it's more details uh regarding that process so um does anyone have any questions regarding the contact tracing i do tiffany thank you so currently the department of public health is doing contract tracing i know they work closely with the state of california to implement those protocols um are we doing our own contract racing or is this in partnership with public health we do our own as well okay yeah so we do our own um a lot of times it's faster and we want employees to report to us if they are experiencing symptoms or if they've been in contact with a positive case if they've tested positive god forbid we want to know and there are leaves available for our employees

and we share that information with them um because we want to prevent the spread and so we're sharing that we actually have a form you know for individuals to report one of those scenarios and that will be available on our website pretty quickly um so there are just different ways for employees to share that but we encourage employees to notify us because we can act very quickly to prevent the spread by just completing this contact tracing process at a district level which we would really have to do in order to comply with all of the requirements the reporting requirements and um the contact tracing model well it was actually modeled exactly like the cbc model that they put out um the exception would be we don't ask personal health questions of our employees but it

is step by step exactly like the cdc i think that's all i have right i believe you have one more slide tiffany well that's just you know that is more of um if you could yes if you could go to the next one video please okay and then this is just a it's a breakdown of the contacts that we were describing earlier those um individuals that either interacted or were deemed a close contact by definition and so this is just really the bullet points of what we do and like the negative asymptomatic um you know how we have them get tested and before they can come back great thank you so much tiffany are there any other uh questions from from the board before we continue you know what actually roberto i do i just

thinking of one more thing to mention um you know there's there there can be some confusion and because this is scary for everyone um we quarantine individuals who interacted with a positive case at the least or if they were considered a close contact um we do not turn to contacts of contacts or interactions um there's no guidance for us to do that um and so what we do is we follow the guidelines the steps that we go above are those individuals that are not meeting the close contact criteria but interactively um and i know that there can be some confusion about that you know thinking i interacted with this individual who was a contact of a positive case um but the guidance it does not um it does not suggest that we do that i

just thought we would offer that information as well great thank you for that tiffany um thank you so much for that thorough uh information regarding contact tracing i we do work together hand in hand and um it is a massive task to go to the contract racial i'll highlight that but it it's well worth it because we have to make sure that we are safe thank you again next slide holy [Music] so i i also want to highlight this uh slide here uh i made sure that iusd was ready and prepared if and when we did have a potential positive case uh the machines there that you've seen i'm not sure if you've ever seen them before but they're they're actually electrostatic uh misters and utilizing the proper liquid in terms to disinfect as being

utilized the picture you see actually in the middle is one of our our own uh custodians who is getting ready to go disinfect a certain location um and again these have been uh just you know invaluable due to the fact that at any time not only are they great disinfectants but if and when we have to do deep cleaning the first step is to sanitize uh once you sanitize then you clean and then you and then if needed you have to deep clean if there was a positive case and again all of the schools have these backpacks we also have hand sprayers that are less heavier and every single screw i made sure has this equipment if and when they are needed next slide please to summarize you know all of the information i just

do also want to include that not only um have we followed the guidance from ali you know county department of health services and all the other experts but we are also very conscious to understand and hear from our own families and staff we've submitted the surveys to families and staff to kind of gains and how uh you know the the moments are feeling out there right now with colgate 19 as we have all have expressed from the beginning of this presentation we want to make sure that we are sensitive to everyone and everyone's needs it is a time of unknown we've never had this before but we want to continue the communication with our families with our students and the community to ensure that we are catering exactly to what the community wants next slide

please and this is our third section which is the planning for a safe reopening reopening this is if and when we do reopen this will be the next steps of how it will be in place or what will be uh will be utilized next slide please so if and when we do have a reopening uh we will continue to follow all the guidelines from alley county department of health services the upper left-hand um screen you see there is the actual application for every opening every school site will have to complete one i will work directly with the principal of that school side to ensure that we would create and and submit a personalized um application of their reopening if and when we ever get the allowance to reopen so that we will follow the protocols

as needed the second sheet you see there in the middle is a school site checklist that i developed to assist all of our schools and our principals to ensuring that not only are they following the guidelines but it's more of a cheat sheet for them so they could kind of go over the their school with the checklist to ensure that all the proper uh health procedures and safety procedures are in place and the bottom one is also a form that i created which is the pulver 19 cleaning checklist to ensure that you know the schedule of cleaning is in place uh certain items of uh equipment or supply that are always you know at levels of operation um if and when we do have a reopening we will also have the los angeles county department

of health service inspect the site before we actually have any students on ground next likely and this slide here is just showing what our classrooms would look like i'm not sure if uh if everyone here tonight has ever seen what a collection would look like the upper left-hand corner is depicting a classroom that has a student desk at 12 uh i mean at six feet distancing from each other the excessive furniture has been removed in that typical classroom so it would only have the actual seating that will be allowed to be used by the students uh unfortunately uh you know not all schools have a the capacity to have storage and put some of the excess furniture away so with that said the next picture next to that one on the right side you see

a picture of a classroom where all of the furniture that it currently had continues to remain in the classroom and in this form uh the classroom setup is developed by putting placards of flyers paid a paper or even a with tape an axe if needed and just identifying which desks are available to be used and which disks are not available to be used and this is just again the creativity that not just iusd will be doing but all the districts all these foods are having to do because in a typical classroom you may have up to 30 35 seats that now are going to be down to 12. so what do you do with the except excessive furniture sometimes there is no other place to store them but to be creative and organize them correctly

and this is actually an approved format from the los angeles county department of health services the bottom two pictures shows uh some of the uh uh examples of athletics if and when we do have a reopening with athletic conditioning and skill building currently that is the only allowance in terms of sports there is no contact sport or competition support of sports allowed nevertheless we will follow the same guidelines where they would have have to be done outdoors only no contact and they will still have to space a minimum f of 10 feet not six next slide please we're also exploring currently um testing for our students and um for our staff we're at the exploring stage still it's not something that we have in place yet but i am in communication with uh many vendors

and uh to to see the potentially having a vendor service our students and our staff and currently we're looking at having those vendors basically service if and when we do have positive cases to have our our staff or our students test if and when we reopen uh a an easy place to go um i'm not sure you know again anyone here today listening if you've ever been tested but sometimes those lines are are huge and uh inaccessible or there's no appointments available so we want to ease uh that weight uh not only uh to prevent anxiety but as well as containment ensuring that if somebody is is positive is identified quickly and get results faster uh the companies that i am currently gaining information from is you know have results on the next day and

basically uh 24 hours so again this is only exp uh exploring at this time it's not in effect uh next slide please so in addition to following all the guidelines that department of health services has provided one of the items that i also purchased for all of our classrooms is an actual air purifier in addition to some of the more heavy traffic traffic offices that we may have so i want to ensure that again we are providing the best possible safest location if and when we do have a reopening so this will add another sense of security for not only our staff or our students if and when they do return so every classroom currently has an air purifier that is now sitting in their in their classroom waiting for our students uh for one

day to return additionally um any school side that have uh has a need for extra ones because they have a an npr room or a heavy trafficking area then we i'm also making sure that they have all of the air purifiers that they need next so coming into this presentation i just want to reiterate uh iusd's commitment um continued communication with the los angeles county department of public health and the los angeles county office of education for procedure and guidance that will continue continue communication and engagement with students families and staff making sure that you know we're sending surveys out continuing the conversation uh ppe availability for students and staff and also maintaining at operational levels it's one thing to have it now but the question is do we have enough to continue to supply

and making sure that we have that and as i said it earlier that we have enough supply currently for the end of the year and the last one is just continued operational school inspections not only for me and my department um but as well as our county administrator you know we walk to schools uh every wednesday and look at all of the schools needs that they may have ensuring that they are safe next slide [Music] so with that said thank you so much i hope you enjoyed the presentation any questions go ahead miss evans i'm going to open it up to board member questions and comments okay okay i was just i mean i was just so proud to hear all the things that you've done i was a part of that planning committee in

the beginning and we were wondering what were we going to do with all this money that we were going to get and roberto you have spent it well i commend you i'm so proud to know that you've done all the things that you've done and put all these things in place i mean we're like we said we're ensuring safety and you have definitely gone over and above dr duardo talks about the things that we're going to do in the county and what schools are going to do but now i hear you say this is exactly what we are doing and that makes me very proud to know that you have done all the things that you've done putting all these safety measures in place so thank you very much thank you what i already grilled

you um guys the other day but i'm curious where did that picture come from tell me it was taken in in 2019. which picture last picture yes yes yes that was and then thank you for that kind of clarify uh that is on that everybody is hugged up smiling no social distance no man and you just went through this beautiful protocol take the picture off the slide we we wanted to show that we are a family and uh according to the guidelines that you only you only supposed to be around family right well that is so well said um so well okay any other questions all right well thank you so much everybody thank you mr perez you did an amazing job of providing us with comprehensive update on what we're doing to develop our

comprehensive coven 19 safety fund i just wanted to acknowledge you mrs for your leadership and your vision your support we appreciate you and the entire staff uh from our maintenance and operations team so thank you for a job well done i also want to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge our amazing executive director in human resources miss tiffany egan for the amazing she's doing a wonderful job of helping us to establish and has already established our contact tracing database she is very detail-oriented and has done an amazing job of ensuring health and safety and the implementation of our safety protocols and procedures at all of our school sites so thank you miss egan for your leadership also i wanted to thank and acknowledge ms susan chitis from the los angeles county office of education

as i've mentioned in the past we have an opportunity to participate in weekly updates meetings and phone calls that are put together by the los angeles county office of education for the 80 school districts within the county of los angeles and we have an opportunity to receive updates to engage with other school district superintendents and leadership teams around reopening plans and in those meetings we received regular updates by dr barbara ferrer the director of the los angeles county department of public health so i'm really proud of our district i'm proud of the fact that we have done a great job of working closely with our partners with our parents staff and students around reopening protocols ensuring safety well-being is our top priority so thank you again for your presentation and i'm going to open it

up to see if any other board members have any questions or comments before we transition to the next item of our attendance dr swarzam thank you i have no questions other board members thank you for the presentation very detailed thank you thank you so much any other questions comment board members okay thank you again for the update we appreciate it board members and community we're going to move to the next item of our agenda which is 7b it's an update on the budget advisory committee and i am so honored to introduce our board member miss evans welcome thank you dr torres uh we've had so much and it's already seven o'clock and now i'm going to be very brief we did have a budget advisory meeting on october 29th and uh our cbet cbo talked

a lot about cash flow he wants to make sure we're going to have enough cash to do all the things that we have to do we talked about our unaudited actuals and our multi-year projections uh and just looking at the budget and and looking at all the things that we have to do to keep this district afloat i'm just happy we have somebody who can keep up with all the numbers and that's what uh our cbo is doing so i don't have a whole lot to say we take in money we spend money but you can see that we're spending it well the money that we've received for the cares act and then covet 19 money as i said before we were wondering how do we gonna buy with all this money that we're getting

but now we can see what we're buying with it and we're putting it to good use and whenever we open again hopefully we will be ready to make sure that everybody is safe and everything else that we need to do just to keep this district going paying for all the things that we need to pay for staff included everybody's still working everybody's still getting paid so that's a blessing thank you very much that's it for my budget report thank you for the laugh for the last couple of months i have also attended the um los angeles county trustees association school of trustees okay it's an update on the los angeles county school trustees association thank you miss evans okay i was just ready to get to that because um i've attended these meetings as our

representative i just listened because like dr torres has said there are 80 school districts in this los angeles county and dr duardo always starts us off telling us things about what we're planning to do in the future as far as opening is concerned and so forth but we are actually putting it into practice so again uh lord berto thank you for that uh our october meeting was dedicated to six candidates who were running for positions within the super the supervisorial districts of california so we had to just listen to all the candidates talk about themselves and we got to vote at the end of the candidates that we wanted so that was the main thing that we did in the october meeting and then on the november 23rd meeting we found out who the people

were who won and the people i voted for all won so i don't know if you know the names but for the first supervisorial district uh john nunes won for the fourth su the fourth supervisorial district done on la plant one and for the fifth supervisorial district uh charisse murray one so i just wanted to let you know that that's what happened but we also had a panel to discuss ethnic studies after we got through talking about who won the election and so forth they talked about ethnic studies and how we should have ethnic studies presented in our schools or taught in our schools which was a very interesting conversation that that conversation lasted almost the whole hour after they talked about who won the election but ethnic studies is something that we need to

look into and i'd like to talk to um dr well during that about maybe doing something like that to put ethnic studies in our schools and that's the main thing that that we did for these past couple of months um because i re we meet every fourth monday of every month and it's just an hour meeting so they cover quite a bit of information in that one hour and sometimes it goes over a little bit but i am thankful that i am the representative from inglewood because when i listen to all the things that other people have to say and again i have to say i glowed a little bit although we're in receivership but we are doing a lot of things even in receivership that a lot of districts aren't doing so thank you

very much thank you miss evans we appreciate your reports um i wanted to ask our board members if you have any questions or comments for miss evans regarding item 7b or 7c dr we'll begin with you if you have any questions about that try to unmute i have no questions either thank you so much no questions thank you thank you thank you again miss evans we appreciate you board members i want to move us to item 7d i wanted to inform you that the district will be having its annual organizational meeting on december 15 2020 and the earliest date that the school district trustees may assume office was modified by ab2449 which changed education code section to read each person elected at a regular biennial governing board member election shall hold office for a term

of four years commencing on the second friday in december next succeeding his or her election additional requirements are called out in education code section 35143 which states the governing board of each school district shall hold an annual organizational meeting in a year in which a regular election for governing board members conducted the meeting shall be held on a day within a 15-day period that commences with the date upon which a governing board member elected at that election takes office so this year as you know the second friday in december is the 11th and in keeping with the revised timeline the swearing-in of our trustees and the district annual organizational meeting must be held on or after that date but not later than december 26 and also according to education code 42130 the district is required

to adopt its first interim budget report every year on or before december 15th and so in order for the englewood unified school district to meet these requirements it's recommended that the county administrator direct staff to provide notice to the community the los angeles county office of education that the inglewood unified school district will hold its 2020 annual organizational meeting and adoption of its first interim budget report on tuesday december 15th at 5 pm board members do you have any questions regarding this item are we still going to be virtual when we do the in yes we will do a virtual oath of office and then what we can do is to plan for doing something in person once it is safe to do so because we we want to celebrate our board members thank you

for that ms evans any other questions board members okay hearing none i want to thank you again and look forward to our meeting on tuesday december 15th at 5 pm uh we're going to move to item number nine this is public comments an agenda a non-agendized item members of the public who submitted a request for public comment form to be addressed by the county administrator and board will be read aloud during this meeting the form was available 72 hours before the scheduled board meeting and closed two hours before the start of the meeting requests were also accepted by mail to the county administrator at 401 south inglewood avenue inglewood california the guidelines for public comment will be in accordance with board bylaw 9323 miss montenegro do we have any public comments on agenda items we

do dr torres we have two public comments and i'll read the first one it's from harriet nicole stewart regarding item 7.8 and the comment reads i am concerned for safety when it comes to cobia 19 rising on a daily basis but we as employees have to interact with the public even though the combat numbers continue to rise i feel we do not have necessary equipment to keep us safe from possibly being exposed to covet 19. governor newsom has shut us down again but we are still placing ourselves in harm's way without stressing the importance of covet 19. i also would like to know who makes the decisions on which employees come to work work from home or work a reduced schedule i feel this is unfair and should be consistent across the board not showing

favoritism and the second public comment is from marina lagos regarding item seven and it reads i am concerned because at our school site safety protocols are now being implemented at 100 also my question is how are some administrators making decisions on who is coming to work and why some employees are working a reduced schedule and others have to report to work every day and work a full day this practice is now clear and they choose favoritism all across the board and that concludes our public comments this evening dr torres thank you so much ms montenegro we're going to move to item number 11 reporting out of closed session actions so in closed session the county administrator took action to approve office of administrative hearing case numbers 20208 zero zero seven nine two zero two zero

zero seven zero two two four s e zero twenty twenty twenty twenty one s se02 2020 2021 se03 2020 2021 we're moving to consent calendar action items we're going to begin with item 12a under the division of human resources board members do you have any questions or comments regarding items 1281-1285 hearing none items 1281-1285 are each approved we're moving to the division of business services board members do you have any questions or comments regarding items 12v1 through 12b7 hearing none items 12 b1 through 12 b7 are each approved we're now moving to 12 c measure gg and facilities board members do you have any questions or comments regarding items 12c1 through 12c3 hearing then items 12 c 1 through 12 c 3 are each approved we're moving to 12 d educational services board members do

you have any questions or comments regarding items 12 d 1 through 12 d 11. okay hearing none items 12 d 1 through 12 d 11 are each approved we're moving to item 12 e student support services and operations board members do you have any questions or comments regarding items 12 e 1 through 12 e5 [Music] okay hearing none items 12v1 through 12v5 are each approved we're now moving to 12f county administrator board members do you have any questions or comments regarding items 12f1 through 12f3 one question yes ms evans i know we have this agreement with the ymca and how is that going to be is it going to be any different with the you know covet spiking are we going to continue doing this you know what are we doing here thank you miss

evans that's a wonderful question we will proceed um as we have been offering this critical support to our families that require child care during distance learning hours and so we're really fortunate for this amazing partnership with the ymca uh the operations are not uh being modified in fact they're being augmented um because of the fact that we are not reopening our schools physically originally the mou was to expire at the end of december but understanding that our families still desire to maintain this service and it's been so critical to our families and we want to do what's best always we're going to be extending the the timeline for this amended contract with the ymca until the end of june 2021 so that we can ensure that we continue to provide our families with that critical

support as i've mentioned in the past our food services amazing employees deliver breakfast and lunch to our students every day and this amendment also includes the addition of another location here in the city of englewood and i'm proud that we're partnering with the englewood public library and so this is an expansion of the support that we have been providing to families does that answer your question ms evans yes that we are going to continue that's what i wanted to know thank you yes we are continuing and expanding thank you ms evans board members any other questions or comments okay hearing none items 12 f1 through 12 f3 are each approved so board members were now moving to item 13 approval of minutes do you have any questions or comments regarding the minutes of the regular

board meeting of november 4th 2020 and the special board meeting of november 18 2020. hearing none the minutes of the regular november 4th 2020 and special board meeting of november 18th 2020 are each approved we're now moving to item 14. board member remarks dr swarza yes thank you so much uh board members i want to wish and faculty and staff and administrators i want to wish you all a wonderful holiday uh enjoy your times please stay safe and healthy um in the midst of this pandemic and i wish you all the best other board members i would like to say that i forgot to mention in my budget report that our next meeting is scheduled for december 17th and the community is welcome to listen by phone by calling the number that's posted on our
