016115 Sheridan Lenny Martinez I'm a retired marquisition type School District teacher and I'd like the board tonight to clarify something that I recently heard from a reliable Alhambra Valley neighbor of mine is it true that John sweat teachers have been informed not to refer to students as boy or girl well I can tell you that we we don't have to respond and I think we're probably uh I don't think we have a staff who would be educated at this particular moment but can we have someone uh for staff uh contact you we do have your contact information that you provided and we'll let you know the answer so I'm assuming no one has an answer tonight to that quite well or hell and I don't I don't want to we don't first of all we're
017not required to respond ents or maybe somebody announced we'll contact you thank you very much is that is that it you do that three minutes no I mean uh it's rather interesting that you look like you don't know the answer to that question which is pretty straightforward but if you do and you're using the board regulations to not have to answer is concerning to me but I do appreciate that you'll get back to me as soon as possible with an answer to that question which is have the John sweat teachers been informed not to refer to students as boy either thank you any other can we get you can I get your email address that okay Rudy at msn.com right saying none will continue on uh with item 15 which is the consent calendar um
018do we have any changes there are no changes any more questions okay can I have a comment seeing them will bring it back to the board for action to approve the consent calendar student vote hi full board all in favor aye opposed extensions motion to carry uh 16.1 is an action item uh Vicente Martinez High School graduation credits modification and it is presented by Amy Nichols [Music] Nichols presented a recommendation to the board to revise our board policy related to graduation requirement specifically to the recommendation to reduce graduation credits by 20 00 elected credits is being brought back for Action Miss Nichols is here this evening to answer any questions you might have are there any more questions anybody not so much no such a question but uh I used to comment and Amy I
019spoke about this for Dr staff about it and it is for me it's kind of a hard thing to just uh cut credits just to make it easier but understand it with the understanding now that um you know cutting these credits by not cutting the credit it seems like we're holding kids hostage for failures on the districts and to provide opportunity and value for those credits seems like some of the credit students are being required are um are not really doing the service so it is what's inside that I think the the district we as a board need to figure out better ways to provide opportunity to make these these credits of value and not um just a placeholder any other more questions public comments then it is an action item do they have a
020motion for the board I'll move to approve all right billboard all in favor aye opposed extension motion carry uh number 16.2 is approval of the new job description student services technician an action item presented by Genelia meeting this item is being brought back for possible action today I would like to point out that we're recommending approval of this new job description at Penny csea's extent process shortly and support tonight for consideration and action board questions of a comment great um bringing it back for action I'll move to approve a new job description for student services second uh student and a student vote hi all in favor aye opposed extensions Carrie 16.3 is a public hearing and Adoption of resolution 2023 Dash zero eight sufficiency of instructional materials is an action item and it is presented
021by yes thank you um finally we are required to bring forward resolution and the Board of Public Health hearing um stating with the resolution stage of that each pupil in the district has sufficient textbooks and instructional materials and before core active areas of English language arts math science and social studies and that these materials are aligned to the academic Frameworks as adopted by this by the state and so with the public hearing before I environment are there any word questions regarding this item is there any case we're not providing enough academic instructional material yeah we are all students require materials all right so if there's no further or more questions on this item we will take a recess and open up any public hearing on resolution 2023-08 is there anyone here for public comments or
022the public hearing portion here seeing none we will close the public hearing and bring it back to the board for action move to approve resolution number 2023-08 create student mode all right look forward all in favor aye opposed extensions resolution carry um item number four is an action item uh following discussion on the January board meeting dates presented by superintendent information so in our last meeting we brought up the fact that our January board date of and tonight was during our winter break the last day of winter break so we looked at options and the board suggested I think the last place we left off is a suggestion that we have the meetings on Tuesday the 17th and the second one on Monday the 30th because without the night there's no other Monday except for
023half two in a row so if the board would like to approve those days Tuesday the 17th and Monday the 30th in lieu of the night then the 23rd um thank you any more questions I don't have any questions I'm fine with that public comment all right so um further discussion you guys are okay you're okay I'm abstained oh you are oh okay um so do we have a motion you know link emotion that we move our January 2023 meeting dates to Tuesday Jan uary general student vote full board on paper I proposed abstentions all right good for you all right um motion Carrie you should come I'll check with you yeah um number 16.5 is appointment for Citizens oversight committee Bond measures K and R an action item percent good evening as many of
024you know the purpose of the oversight committee is to inform the public about the expenditures for Bond Revenue they act as the eyes and ears of the community and verify that the funds are spent only for authorized purposes this committee consists of seven representatives and currently have two active members and we're looking to fill all those vacancies so before you this evening are the applications for two individuals maybe in Rittenhouse and Richard Philbrook for the at-large vacancies on the committee staff is asking you to review the applications tonight for a possible action this evening four questions were the application supposed to be attached to our materials [Music] Andy when you say at large is there also other types of numbers yeah so we have uh one is going to be a parent in the district
025um so we accept one person that's already there Carlton Thompson we have a member of a bona fide taxpayers Association and so we're looking to fill that vacancy here soon and we have the community at large apparently District there's also another vacancy right now we have a active senior citizens organization member so that is filled and then we have an opening for an active and a business organization and this group meets twice a year yes any more questions uh public comment um this is an action item I would just like to at first I'd like to thank the people who are on the board and obviously it's a bit of a thankless job um but it's definitely something that we require and we tell our voters and we're we're going to do this and providing
026this type of oversight so uh thank you for the people who are still on the committee and the many people who have stepped up throughout the years to be on the committee and I'm I'm happy to support these two I'll make the motion to appoint Vivian Rittenhouse and Richard Philbrook second vote hi award all in favor aye aye opposed abstentions motion Kerry uh in that case 16.6 disappointment of the CC sofa and USD parent representative also an action item presented by tonight we are asking the board to appoint Nicole Brown as the District representative to the Contra Costa Southwest Community advisory committee this is a two-year term the Contra Costa cell phone um parent advisory committee is responsible for advising the policy and administrative entity of the district software County office regarding the development Amendment
027and review of the local plan which describes the local policies procedures and programs that are consistent with four questions of the comments we'll bring you back to the board for action Nicole Brown I mean to the point Nicole Brown thank you student vote hi award all in favor opposed abstention Carrie we're Trucking through this agenda okay 16.7 is California schools healthy error coming in efficiency program governing body and resolution 2023-09 uh and this is an action item presented by Annie Cannon uh so in the fall of 2020 assembly Bill 841 authorized the Cal State program which is the California healthy excuse me California school health and air plumbing and efficiency program and its function is to help us with our plumbing and our HVAC issues it requires us to do an assessment which we've already
028done and pretty much we've already been approved for this but part of the condition for us receiving money in this case about thirteen thousand dollars is that we have a board to take action to approve the grant this work is for Las Vegas so it's not new work it's work that's already being done that we're allowed to get reimbursed for so tonight we're asking you to to approve resolution 2023-09 given the magnitude of the work required is it seems like a small amount that was so very appreciative of it is there is this kind of standard or is there is there more money to be sought after is this doesn't work um I'm not real familiar with it but in my experience in looking at it there's a whole kind of layout of what schools
029get priorities so under performer schools in areas that are underrepresented get priority to it you can submit what work is being done and they decide how much they get back I don't believe there's a total limit on it and how it can probably help out a little bit with more specifics possibly um and the project that last sentence was submitted for this obviously we did a lot more than that work and this is what we were awarded in our list of how things were appointed so if you can't put this again is this grant already funded or is there something we're gonna have to just wait no okay great um any public comments all right it's an action item you have a motion includes it approved resolution 2023-09 question Kerry thank you uh all right
030our one information item tonight is 16.8 which is the adoption of csva updates and this is presented by superintendent Crosby as we continue down the path of catching up on our policy um review and revision these policies are all under the Personnel area and we have currently have about 10 houses that were updated By Carolyn and um she's available um happy Wednesday to answer any questions about them or if you have any questions I have a quick question on this um these ones specifically are kind of the do you can and cannot Square some of our employee groups um is that is that um information that is provided to their leadership once once changes have been made or are they part of the process or probably attached to the bundle here the exact changes that
031I made it's [Music] will tell you exactly what is different some of it's just word snipping and I have um I have no problem sending something out to to mea and CSEA about it I did notice if I could add I did notice that other districts agendas that they list them and just put either word Smith or they do actual presentation just put up for one thousands of words says or a one-liner on what's changed so we could take a look at a better way of presenting it so that everybody can have that information yeah I think I'm just looking at it it really it called to me that that's something that probably you know our our labor Partners would want to know that there's changes that changes didn't look like they were huge but
032their changes nonetheless directly to what their efforts any other board questions uh public comment all right um then we will see these items back for an action item in our next agenda um item number 17 is not required as we don't have additional comments from the public which leads us to number 18 which are comments from superintendent board members and future agenda items and can we do have anything for us no I do not all right I'm good okay wow all right um I should have said this earlier um I had the privilege of being a part of the Martinez Police Department interview panels for the YouTube kids Jacob police which I thought it was you know way different than it was a lot different than how we run our interviews here but it was
033quite comprehensive three different uh panels and so and they were looking at three different buildings with Martinez and Southern candidates have a lot from the building every hour they had to adjust and shift and I thought the whole thing was very well done and my camera did it committed an excellent job putting them together and putting the panels together so I just wanted to say that that it was nice to be involved and I found it worth my time I was stranding it because it's a whole day and I'm hoping out of the office is difficult but I thought it was well worth my time and I did hear a rumor which is kind of sort of backed up that we may be giving some assistance from can't tell you who but we're looking for
034a home at the high school and we won't magically engaged that should be coming very short all right well we don't have any other comments um thank you for this evening we will see you uh at our next meeting today um [Music] what
