001okay well the report of closed session on item 3.1 this we received information from staff 3.2 we received and gave it direction to staff in 3.3 we received information from staff i'd like to call this meeting to order and ask for mr dan elder to lead us in the pledge of allegiance please rise buddy begin i pledge allegiance to the fly of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and okay before we move on with the agenda i'd just like to take a few minutes to review the rules that govern our public board meetings as a reminder face coverings must be worn at all times in the board room including while speaking anyone not adhering to this public health mandate will be

002asked to leave the room you can submit public comments in writing and watch the board meeting on your personal devices the purpose of public comment is for the board to hear from the public this is not a town hall nor an opportunity to engage the board directly with questions as a board we are here to conduct the meeting as outlined by the agenda we do encourage the public to comment however i'd like to remind everyone of the rules individual speakers will be allowed three minutes to address the board on each agenda or non-agenda item i recognize that i've allowed speakers to go longer in past meetings but in the interest of fairness moving forward i will stop everyone at three minutes members of the audience may address the board on any topic regardless of whether

003it's listed on the agenda however due to brown act regulations the board cannot engage in public discussion on items that are not on the agenda the board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes with board consent i may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard i may take a poll of speakers for against a particular issue and i may ask that additional persons speak only if they have something new to add this does mean that if you ask us a direct question on items not listed on the agenda we cannot respond i want everyone here to note that we will adhere to these roles and if there are multiple people here that wish

004to speak on the same topic i suggest you coordinate and make sure you are not repeating information so that other p speakers have the opportunity to share new information as board president i will not permit any disturbance or willful interruption of board meetings persistent disruption by an individual or group shall be grounds for me to terminate the privilege of addressing the board the board may remove disruptive individuals and or room the room cleared if necessary in this case members of the media not participating in the disturbance shall be allowed to remain an individual or individuals not participating in such disturbances may be allowed to remain at the discretion of this board if the room is ordered cleared due to a disturbance further board proceedings shall concern only matters appearing on the agendas we thank you

005in advance for your participation moving forward i need a motion and a second to approve the minutes from the august 10th board of education meetings all those in favor say aye all right mission passes epstein strutzenberg good point four four eyes one no uh no nose and one abstention okay next up we're up to reports for the board dr stephen keller on the first week of school yeah what i'll do is i'll do it just like two spots here i'll just do a quick update kind of the opening just wanna and then i'll hit the first day or first week of school um we're delighted to have our students back in person uh for in-person learning uh parents received a welcome back letter this week from me and from the principal families are receiving ongoing

006information from their site principles so we appreciate everything that's going on at the sites and all the hard work that our teachers our support staff and our principals are providing to welcome essentially 9 500 students back on campus if a parent or staff member has a question about how many we get this every now and then how do i find out about covid and how many positive cases you can go to our rbusd website under covet updates and there's a little um uh icon there it says cova dashboard you go there anytime and get real-time information from us and then um we want to remind our community we put it on our website as well as uh we've scrolled has actually a scroll on our website at the top that starting september 28th we will

007actually have our board meetings beginning for open session at 5 pm and i know the rest of you will share that in your notes as well so 5 p.m starting september 28th at that meeting and then having our students back on campus as we have if you think about last year in the spring we had about half to a third at any given time of our students on campus with the hybrid learning model as you know and so i just want to remind parents and families and i think they already know this in school districts that have been open in l.a county and actually parts of orange county as well that have come back to in-person learning in our case where we only have about 100 students in the independent study program you're going to

008have more coveted cases because you have more students on campus at any given time you're not splitting the students up in some sort of fractional denomination so just want to remind people we certainly are seeing more covid uh positive cova cases but we're managing it quite well and following the protocols by l.a county department of public health and so with that i'd like to share with you the first week experience in rbusd and so what i'm going to do is show you that each school yes each school you're going to get a little phrase or a little short sentence from each principle and you're going to see at the bottom of the enrollment how it compares to last year and what you're going to see throughout is we certainly see fewer kids in our campuses

009overall uh some you know bigger dips than others and some obviously some increases but so what i'm going to do is walk you through each school and you'll see exactly what i'm talking about so starting without the vista we have karen sato right there alta vista is committed to inclusion and kindness among our students and staff we're building leaders at every level of our community and as you can see there we got an enrollment dip at alta vista of about 25 students overall and of course at borough heights also known as burl you see a dip of about 19 students our borough staff wants wants to know are you a-okay we are focusing on sel social emotional learning while practicing random unplanned acts of kindness be a positive influence go bulldogs this is bernie actually

010these are the bernie staff members at our welcome back rally in their nice screen uh you see a dip of about 17 students and from miss mirabascaro and you see bernie has a dedicated staff who will take students on a journey to accelerate accelerate learning while ensuring every student is performing to their full potential we moved to jefferson big dip there 45 students and you see a lone principal there mr winkler welcoming all with open arms and so a nice little simple uh uh picture there lincoln we see even a dip you know some people would say you know you might see a trend north and south i don't think you can predict the trend here we have a dip of 27 students lincoln is continuing to create a campus culture focused on inclusive educational

011opportunities and high levels of academic instruction for all students and there's miss nakiyama right there next to the tree at madison we see a slight dip there of five students and madison wouldn't be madison with our amazing pta and i think we would all agree with that our district wouldn't be where it's at without its amazing pta and dr heather cash doing a great job there at madison elementary at toleda it looks like a album cover of a band it's a great picture loss of 10 students compared to last year toledo will focus on providing a high quality education in an environment where students feel safe connected and can thrive through just end time supports and inclusive practices every student every day i like the language of that one and then we have washington here

012a small dip of seven students uh and washington will be focusing uh excuse me we'll be focused on creating a learning environment grounded in community building social emotional well-being and of course student-centered centered learning uh this one is so we're gonna have a little fun with here but adams middle school that's uh obviously uh dr baruna and uh dr nguyen uh adams middle school will be focusing on welcoming students back on campus in person in a supportive and challenging academic environment where social emotional learning is incorporated and every aspect of the school day is we recognize the isolation that many have experienced in distance learning and if you didn't know dr bruna on the left in that picture was pregnant and lo and behold we have oliver oliver was more an adorable kid and joe

013and tanaz couldn't be happier so i want to congratulate them and a dip of two people by the way two students excuse me a dip of two students uh paris middle school you see a pretty significant dip there 102 students um that'll that'll clear the hallways a little bit going to and from the locker which is actually really good news and it actually softens the blouse to chromebooks because chromebooks take a lot of a lot of hits in those hallways at paris middle school our priorities for 21 22 are following uh are the following physical health socio-emotional well-being and academic excellence from dr erickson the principal here you are ruhs this is this is uh you know only 17 that's uh that's a mild number for the high school uh it actually is music to

014my ears because that school has grown significantly over the years and so redundant union strengthening seahawk connections that's their mascot of course through academia and social emotional wellness and that's mr breedy the new principal third one in right in the middle and then let us never forget patricia dreisler alternative education a current enrollment of 48 students five extra this year and as mr brandt likes to say think big start small learn fast gotta like that and we never want to forget our south bay adult school helping our students survive and thrive from the coveted pandemic with new skills access to resources and a caring community and that's from mr gamet the director of south bay adult school and then overall i do want to share with you excuse me 93 students currently in independent study

015we always remind people in this independent study is a program option for our parent community and certainly uh i know folks know plenty about it but uh there's always um you know an option for parents in independent study and then overall we're seeing about 237 kids that can you know go up and down it's like the stock market uh any given day we'll you know could have five students five students show up to uh school and enroll well we could actually lose a couple kids moving out of town or what have you but currently that is our enrollment and i just wanted to provide you that information uh and welcome back to everybody can i ask a question about the 237 number is that include is it taking out independent study from those different that's

016a good question no no it doesn't it includes independent study and and uh dr welch you want to just add any clarity to that sure no those those independent study students are still included um as part of their home school so when you see the numbers for each of the home schools it includes those students as well does anybody have any other questions or comments can they ask questions regarding the superintendent's report when we get time to the public hearing that can be an agenda you can put that in as a question correct okay is that we're now at superintendent's report is that the same all right so now we're up to public hearing so in order to conduct business in an orderly and efficient way the board requires that public presentations to the board

017comply with the following procedures guest speakers any person wishing to be heard by the board shall first be recognized by the president and then proceed to comment as briefly as the subject permits individual speakers will be allowed three minutes to address the board on each agenda or non-agenda item the board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 20 minutes with board consent i can increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation depending on the topic and the number of people wishing to be heard agenda item concerns the board shall give members of the public to an opportunity to address the board either before or during the board's consideration of each item of business to be discussed at regular or special meetings however during the board's actual consideration of each

018item the public is asked not to address the board we are now going to also discuss non-agenda concerns we can while we cannot answer direct questions non-agendas the boards may refer the matter to the superintendent or designee or take it under advisement or take action at a time that is allowed by law it may be matter may be placed on the agenda at a subsequent meeting for action or discussion at the discretion of the board i'm going to call for advanced written requests first and these were the ones that were handed to me in the order as they were received at the front door all of the speakers received the same information that i asked reviewed so i'll just ask one of my board colleagues to please keep track of the time spent per topic

019and when i call you up to the front there is a um timer up there that will begin after you state your name and your affiliation with rbusd and when it flashes yellow that'll be a 30 second warning to wrap up and the first one i receive is from joyce lewis [Applause] hello my name is joyce lewis i'm a parent i have four wonderful students in rbusd two student of the year students and one ivy chain participant recipient my oldest daughter just graduated she'll be attending college soon i have two daughters at redondo union and a son of paris last week i received an email stating my daughters who play on the jv lacrosse team will be forced to either vaccinate or receive weekly testing i strongly oppose both every coveted shot is less than

020a year in use and still experimental by definition the vaccine has caused severe side effects unknown long-term effects and caused over thirteen thousand deaths thirteen thousand deaths according to our government's official vares coven 19 vaccine data website the pcr tests given not by our pediatricians but by random untrained administrators can be traumatic as the nasal swab is forced through the knee the nasal cavity causing possible bleeding or broken swabs also it is a fact that the pcr test swabs are sterilized with ethylene oxide which is a cancer-causing chemical toxin you will require weekly testing on my two daughters which will cause them immediate and potential long-term harm i refuse to put my healthy daughters through this unhealthy unnecessary process never before have we had to prove that we are healthy should i ask to see

021your vaccination status a negative test or even an hiv or hepatitis test from any of you for that matter how about a list of people that you associate with so that i can contact trace these requirements will create a divide amongst the lacrosse players while discriminating against those who choose not to be vaccinated or tested my daughters will be discriminated against testing is not required of vaccinated students who can contract and spread the virus as easily as unvaccinated students according to the data i heard that one of you just recently cr contracted the virus as well so you know that as well this is a formal call to action and request to the board of education and school administrators to allow an alternative method to those who desire to be temperature checked instead of receiving

022the covet vaccine or weekly testing i would like a written follow-up and answer to my request by friday august 27th my daughters are great lacrosse players enjoy the game they love their friends and are excited to start a wonderful season thank you for your time and p.s i'm strongly opposed to implement implementing the divisive critical race theory into our curriculum thank you okay next up we have mike switzer hello mike switzer i have two children in the district they both go to jefferson elementary i spoke previously at an earlier school board meeting regarding this community's concern that critical race theory was being considered for inclusion in the curriculum i'm hearing now that the sport isn't considering the application of crt into the district imagine my shock when i learned that instead of crt the board

023is now considering curriculum from the southern poverty law center's uh learning for justice it's the same thing it's hard for me to not believe that whoever suggested this thinks we're all stupid why is the southern poverty law center providing suggested curriculum for children in redondo beach why is anyone considering it the splc is a wildly political group that's paid out millions to people they falsely labeled as extremists or hate groups the splc placed ben carson on their extremist list ben carson the black neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate the splc only removed him from their list due to public backlash who requested the input of the southern poverty law center regarding the education of our children that's a serious concern who's suggesting this curriculum is it teachers is it the board is it social justice activists

024for the person for the purpose of specificity at jefferson elementary miss lee's black lives matter instructional library includes non-partisan literary hits such as a kid's book about racism or not my idea a book about whiteness or woke read aloud they she he easy as abc presumably so my five-year-old can better understand sexual reassignment surgery are these books already in the curriculum did miss lee just decide to add these books on her own is this allowed or is she encouraged to do this wherever these suggestions are coming from whoever thinks these inappropriate social justice themes lessons are a good idea please understand that we strongly disagree and we won't have it these aren't young adults they're children they're closer to diapers than they are to driving a car can a teacher decide on her own what

025sensitive political subjects she can teach without input from the parents i believe in polite discourse i want you all on our team i hope my hope is that you come to share our belief that this curriculum is inappropriate for children unnecessarily political divisive and truly offensive don't put the teachers or kids love in the position where the parents don't trust what they're teaching thanks thank you very much next up we have braley klatt hi my name is braylee klatt and i have um one senate jefferson first i want to point out that i'm very proud of our school district i've reached out on many occasions with high praises about what this district is doing in its staff while i'm impressed with the school district i'm concerned about something that was challenged at the last meeting

026by the board and the administration the board dr keller and dr wilds each made it a point to condemn the idea that the district was adopting crt we understand that you are not you've made it clear and thank you by the way but you did admit that you're considering learning for justice which is part of the southern poverty law group i am sure you are well aware of the similarities between crt and learning for justice they are one and the same while crt is not being looked at there are numerous examples of the ideals and values of crt and learning for justice that are absolutely being allowed in our schools on one hand we have heard that dr keller and the district is not interested in the curriculum in the crt curriculum but the actions

027that show actions show that you are allowing aspects of the agenda to be implemented after the derek chauvin trial dr keller sent out an email within minutes of the verdict and encouraged discussion of the ideas now i am not against the district um sorry suggesting and acknowledging that these social issues are happening i am not against at all the district offering talking points videos books articles etc so that parents can actually review these articles and see if it fits the value that adheres to our home i am in our homes i am against having these discussions in the classroom when they are happening in the classroom sorry inappropriate videos such as the brainpop blm video which is not even close to describing that movement in its true light it is being shown and that teacher

028got teacher of the year um when we're at when we reach out to dr keller we'll turn are told that we're the only ones with these concerns that's not true one of the problems is that parents aren't reaching out is because they're too busy they're unable to attend the meetings they're unable to reach out for one-on-one discussions but please do not assume that it's because we are the parents are accepting this what's the most important is that they assume that you are not considering these things they assume that you're teaching the basics and helping our kids recoup from being out of the classroom i am making a call to action that the district abolishes its consideration first learning for justice or any curriculum or agenda that resembles it i'm also making call to action that

029it become a district policy that teachers are held accountable to rename neutral and politics and social issues i am further making a call to action that there be repercussions for teachers who go quote-unquote rogue and that incorporates these ideas into the classroom these are reasonable and appropriate requests and i just want to end by saying thank you so much for having school in person this year such a big deal so i wanted to do that thank you thank you very much next up we have farah krutz hello you all know me my name is fair croix i have a daughter at paris and a son at jefferson again i'm here to advocate for mass choice seems like an ongoing issue i love how all of you have your n95s on while critically thinking about the

030last year i hope the board and dr keller understand the level of hypocrisy from the state city country and local leadership including district officials that sit here today as i mentioned to dr toronto and dr ericson last week last week at our meeting at paris i encourage the viewers of the ward meeting right now to go back and look at the june 22nd meeting throughout the entire meeting dr colored the board dr wilds nicole wellesley and staff presented and spoke indoors for an extended period of time while dropping their mass sometimes up to 20 minutes and although it's not allowed for our children to that to do that in class you all take that in your hand to do that as well per the california department of health even after june 15th the guide the

031district follows and that's what you guys continue to push towards us is that regardless of vaccination status masts are still required on public transportation transportation hubs like airports indoors in k-12 schools and use settings but yet you won't follow that yourself california osha health standards board title eight division one chapter two chapter four number seven in regards to face coverings and employers shall provide face coverings and ensure they are worn by employees over the nose and mouth when indoors went outdoors and less than six feet away from another person and were required by orders from cdph or local health department which again is what you guys push face shields are not a replacement for face coverings so those of you that are watching on this live version or end up going back to the june

03222nd meeting a parent put this together and it's a time stamp of all of the times at the board and dr keller and administrators and staff decided to drop their masks ramer oh about six minutes into the board meeting she was massless for about 20 minutes susan wilds around minute 22 was massless around 27 minutes dr keller at minute 48 12 minutes susan wilde again at the hour mark was one minute sarah robertson she was a rep for the teachers union she spent about two minutes massless at one minute and eleven one hour eleven minutes dr keller again had another three minute massless time at minute one hour and fourteen minutes susan wilds again another two minutes at one hour and eighteen minutes dr alpern at one hour and 20 minutes had a 15-minute math

033break ramer flynn had another two minutes at one hour and 20 minutes susan wilds an additional three minutes and nicole wellesley had a short time without her mask at one hour and 38 minutes okay thank you next up we have jeff kreutz hi you guys have heard from my children i represent one dozen families in redonda beach that have aligned to form the redondo beach parents for school transparency this group was formed out of the concern of the lack of transparency regarding the race and equity committee formed last august 22nd after our group pressed for public visibility the rec's complete work thank you dr keller was put onto the website and promised what we did receive was word that this was everything was included on the site yet over a month ago there was a

034freedom of information public records requests for all mentioned meetings of the rec over the last school year for meeting minutes action items etc that was deferred by one of our members to october 26 more than 90 days after everything was on the website our growing group of concerned parents were height our concerns were heightened when we researched the makeup of this group to find it bent to the far far left with many people disregarded from any other perspective but here's the beauty of our our transparency group is that it consists of all races and a full spectrum of political views yes we have liberals we have many independents moderates and conservatives united in our concerns that politics and limiting one-sided liberal viewpoints have no place in our classrooms we stand for equality to indeed fight

035for all injustices we believe in that most of all we want our students to thrive in an open inclusive environment of free thinking from all viewpoints self-responsibility objective critical thinking and lastly unity we want that for everyone in this district to be clear we don't want to be at odds with you instead we see an opportunity to partner with the decision makers the parents the teachers the board members the administrators all openly providing curriculum input as a community which is what you all said on june 22nd that goal number four was to be open transparent and have all visibility with the community that has not happened to this date and the race in academy committee still exists i know you're not meeting right now but nothing's changed after call to call to call dear teachers

036and union reps if your students know your political affiliation you have failed them as a teacher teachers are there to help students think for themselves not like you the most deadly virus we're currently exposed to is group think for parents asleep at the wheel these are your smelling salts it's time to wake up and get involved a three four o'clock meeting is not going to cut it on a tuesday right and there will be many more people as you've already heard one cannot deny that racism doesn't exist and it's not going to be an easy conversation we need to teach full history that should be taught from where we've come from what we're doing but to claim racism in present and everyday aspect in relation in relationships i'll can i speak for another moment i'll

037need a motion and a second to extend the time i thank you very much for your time so we're going to glorify the wrecking ball thank you next up we have monique grant i'm monique and i have two students in redondo beach unified school district this is my second time here at the last boarding i have braved to speak back on august 10th rachel you said we don't have the same opinions we don't have to have this com we what we do have to have is common source of decency this was at the end of the meeting after i left that you guys closed the meeting with i didn't watch it till i got home as a board we expect that from each other as a school district we expect that from each other the

038board shouldn't have expect any less from parents of our children we come to speak to us it's not okay to wear a mask to not wear a mask when you come up to speak to us despite being told several times rachel and the board members you are the kind of leaders that are do as i say not as i do to reinform you you should all take a look back at your board meeting on june 22 this year 12 times total most of you took your mask off to speak conversing while sitting up there in those exact seats you are now no one played mass police with each other also allowing sarah robertson the rep for teachers union to stand at this exact podium to speak without a mask and without a mask pep talk

039rachel not a word was criticized to your fellow board members or teacher union rep at the end of the board meeting why because it didn't oppose to most of your political views why don't you quiet yourselves for our concert why don't you quiet yourself why do you quiet yourselves for our constitutional rights when we speak simply because of the opposing views or to spoken about the board members and questions directed toward you at the m that make you uncomfortable to hear attempting to belittle the public you also said it's not okay to attack people personally for what they look like what religion they are or what color skin is that is not who we are as a community or a school district and i am embarrassed that some of the comments were made today because

040it was not agendas as a board we can't discuss it so i'm leaving it with you my thoughts that it can't go left unsaid that certain comments are not appropriate you're right rachel it can't go left unsaid how you pathetically tried to spear smear public speak speakers me included while you sat up there you're embarrassed i laugh because i'm embarrassed to have you on our board and the way you responded once again with lack of respect to opposing views and community speakers parents to be exact our community desert deserves decency and from from you when we come here to speak on behalf of our children in this district you said it's not okay to attack people personally for what they look like what religion what color their skin is that is not who we are

041as a community in a school district that is a lie a lot of you board members are liars that is what i have learned in only three weeks of being involved in what you probably think of yourselves as lovely sweet board members who go above and beyond with answering public and parental questions i learned in my first face to face with district member dr toronto executive director of student services and head of our race and equity committee in your district lobby downstairs on august 10th at 403 pm after the meeting started [Applause] when an unmasked woman tried to walk into the district laffy he said he was going to call the police all while all rbpd was already on site and ready to support i'll take his three minutes the situation two women were standing

042in the lobby video recording what was happening what was said ask you to pause for a moment mrs grant sure sir are you willing to yield your time i am is this board comfortable with him allowing her to have his for three minutes okay go ahead please when dr toronto proceeded to lie to those women and tell them they could not record him without his permission breaking the law by attempting to put fear and misguide them while working this for this government agency rbusd at that point i felt compelled to speak up and correct him and inform him that he was lying letting the police officer jenna know that i had spoken to her boss lieutenant king the week prior asking this question as government agency it is open to the public telling people you

043can't record them is a brown act violation public please be aware of this all happened during the beginning of the board meeting that had already started at 403 pm you say that is not who we are as a community in school district rachel do you know who kimberly isaac is she is a woman on our current race and equity committee hand-picked behind closed doors by susan wiles i believe this is a flyer i received during the last four last uh when she ran i'm sure you guys are familiar with stuff i think it's on my seat flyer where this lady this woman defund the police f the police f the police this woman also by skin color addresses that there's only three three more white people on our board this lady i'm asking to be

044removed from the race and equity committee that dr toronto is the head of this committee and i wanted to let you know that all of you guys keep telling us it's not in review and i do believe that it's not in review right now but per dr toronto conversation with me in june he let me know when it is on there your guys's laps all dis most districts and it has to be reviewed so when the time comes this is what's going to be on there okay this is what we're dealing with she needs to be removed from our race and equity committee and who knows how she even got on there after this this is just i can't believe that i don't really care what color or anything but say as i do not

045do as i say right or the same rachel that's especially for you today dr toronto who leads the race and equity committee who just calling on the redondo beach police department himself the last board meeting on august 10th for their services is this who we hand select on our committees in rbusd mr whitkin you said you agreed with you echoed everything for rachel you said that you're open to having an open open mind having an open mind and that's absolutely the things that you were hearing were absolutely baffling to you mr whitkin if you were so baffled by my comments why then you did you not reach out to me once to question what i spoke about you couldn't have been more obvious the lack of interest or possible facts of mine opposing your views

046maybe because of you actually showing you care and reaching out to me that wouldn't fit within the lines of you getting a future seat in city council stop the politics already at the cost of our children's health and possible future indoctrination i just have one last thing to say and that ramer i just noticed i wanted to ask you um i know you can't answer the beginning of the board meeting i didn't wash it till in the evening it was muted for the first six minutes okay it was muted for the first six minutes while that was the board meeting had started well stuff was going on in the lobby so you guys are either violating the brown act by being late to these meetings or you're violating it by lying to the public by

047trying to hide what was going on in the lobby so i'm just going to let you know like if you're not going to do your jobs you guys have to know someone else is going to do your jobs and i the stop the white lies we deserve decency rachel we deserve all of you we re we we deserve decency and honesty and transparency please grant you're just missing the meeting at this point i'm just gonna ask you to please finish up your comments i'll come back every time i quote you on what you guys say so be very careful okay thank you it's not all the same topic okay all right next up we have jeff bowles hi my name is jeff bowles i have two students at the high school level they're both swimmers

048and my concern is mandating the vaccine or saying they have to be tested or vaccinated do you know there's 4.2 million children that have had this virus do you know the percentage of the children have died .008 and all of those .008 have comorbidity so we're talking about athletes that are supposed to be in great shape and in health and yet you still want to punish them or inflict something into their body that is totally unnecessary and with no long-term studies you really have to look at the numbers masks aren't really working that's what the cd cdc says so why are we punishing these children you know the teachers can get vaccinated all the adults around them that can get vaccinated the children have no percentage chance if they're healthy children um also who wouldn't

049love the mandates of the vaccines paid by taxpayers dollars when there's no liability to manifest vaccine manufacturers whatsoever that was in 1986 when ronald reagan signed that and gave vaccine manufacturers complete immunity when these kids are damaged when parents flip the bill the cost so we're irresponsible for not vaccinating our vaccinating our kids but who's responsible when something goes wrong i mean i feel for all city employees everyone this is just pfizer reporting 30 billion dollars and nobody's responsible when somebody gets injured and kids are not even at cause we do apologize because we were not prepared became last minute but um they don't they don't spread the virus they're healthy nobody talks every other commercial on tv is a pharmaceutical ad or a fast food ad where's the talk of washing your hands sanitation

050healthy living proper nutrition proper weight there's no talk of that what are we serving in in school for food i mean is it healthy so our athletes are healthy and you want to put something in them that could potentially damage them but there's no long-term studies i'd love to have that business model i'd love to make that and those parents that are dealing with the vaccine in your children the people who put them there are sleeping really nicely at night so thank you for your time thank you can i have your name just so for the record are you thank you okay next up sheila garcia good afternoon um oh i see that there okay so i'm gonna give some of my time to someone else okay so a minute it's three minutes per person

051we can i mean you yeah so we're going to divvy it up is that possible who are you giving this time i'm going to give it to julie okay i'm going to give her a minute and a minute no oh so normally i'm prepared for these things however i was here at the last uh school board meeting and i realized i noticed that the public was being barred from coming in the doors were locked that is inappropriate to the brown act also last week i mentioned and i put on notice everyone here that they took an oath of the constitution the constitution is a living document that's what we all abide by the constitution so these mandates that have come out are actually against our california rights so there's a california constitution there's a constitution

052and these mandates are not law so what you in fact are enforcing are things that can't really be enforced so the fact that you haven't done your due diligence and given us due process by actually realizing and doing the research and i had i can't have it come down to dollars and cents but eight hundred thousand dollars for a board to come up with decisions i thought you guys could come up with something better especially having a choice and i believe we all should have choices so in terms of that i don't have anything scripted all i know is i have the law and i know that when you go in a court you cannot claim ignorance ignorance is not a defense so basically everyone here even in the room is on notice that when

053you take an oath of office and you don't follow the constitution and you actually violate other people's rights and now we're talking about children's rights that could be a legal lawsuit so i don't know your protections in place and i know that people are deathly afraid of lawsuits however that's what's coming down the pike so what i'd like all of you to do is really look at the oath look at yourselves look at the positions you're in those of you who have had various agendas and i'm not saying that about anybody i'm saying there's some people have done dealings that i have researched that may not be that you are a principled person if you're not a principal person then you should step down just like if you're not a good parent if you're not

054a good this if you're not a good that step down that's the best you could do that's what you could show as a good citizen because we're all citizens here and we don't even engage in civic engagement because there is no civility what happens when there is no civility in a community what happens when there's no trust what happens when there's no unity and i see divisiveness happening on every end of the spectrum and i don't like it the only thing i could do is come up here address everyone possibly get a bad jacket because oh she spoke up but you know what i'm not afraid because i i i honor higher power that is god thank you very much next up we have devon altman i already wore it at school all day so

055i go to redondo union as you might know and i've had almost all of my teachers spend more than 30 minutes talking about the masks today in my last class we spent 20 minutes writing up on the board ways that masks work and why people want to wear masks one kid said that one kid said because we don't want to see your noses that's what you guys are doing to kids we don't want to see people's faces anymore my physiology teacher and my history teacher both want people to wear masks because they are worried about their kids it's not our responsibility to protect them and their kids 600 breaths in 35 hours is how many breaths you take in a normal school week 600 breaths you're breathing in your own poop newsome and obama don't

056wear masks newsome's kids go to school without wearing masks why can't i the phone goes in the phone holders in two of my classes where the phones all touch each other and then i touch my phone before i go to sleep before when i wake up without washing my hands that's germs right there i don't like being bullied in my math class going back to the math class we came up with at the end of the 20 minutes today that the students who agreed that people should wear their masks correctly in class can tell the other students in case if they're pulling it down to breathe can tell the other students to pull it up or we were talking about punishments like going like this to someone else which is touching their mask which is

057disgusting we came up with maybe like 10 punishments they were joking but it was it didn't feel like joking you guys are making kids scared of seeing other kids faces i passed by the elementary school they were outside they were all spread out they're still wearing masks because they don't know any better they don't know any better and they're maybe five or six years old when they grow up like 16 year old kids they're not gonna know what to do when they see another kid's face they're gonna talk bad about each other and then some of them are gonna feel bad and you guys are making bullying you guys are bringing back bullying after all of those bullying lessons i remember seeing you and schools a while ago that's the end of your time anymore

058i spent five days in school already and i get headaches after like maybe 10 minutes of wearing the mask just to protect just to protect my teachers i understand that you want to have more faith everybody else has asked for more time to say and we are following by those rules we've asked you to put your mask over your nose and you said no because you were still doing it all day in class i would like you to please put your mask over your nose i will ask the board if they want to consider extending the time just like i would for any other person speaking okay hearing none i thank you for your time we've heard you i'm gonna wear a mask i'm going to do it for myself not for other people i

059don't need to protect other people they can learn how to make themselves healthy thank you okay thank you very much [Applause] okay one more okay next up we have julie feldman please that is my son and i did not help him at all he said that all on his own and you heard out of his mouth you're bullying children you're bullying children you're creating anxiety but i'm going to backtrack for a second and remind you that i have spent 21 years in this community helping people get healthy teaching people how to be healthy because why we have an innate immune system and my kid who eats a salad at lunch does not have to wear a mask to protect a kid who eats candy and doritos maybe you guys could spend some of your eight

060hundred thousand dollars that we pay you and use common sense and actually start a healthy nutrition program let's build our immune systems why are you so focused on pushing fear it is like beside ourselves we will keep coming back every single week after week after week after week and extend your meetings for hours because parents are growing in number that are fed up with this system we voted for you you work for us you have a i have given you all the facts i have a public health degree from the number one school in the united states we are not going to stand here and listen to the fact that this is about public health because it is all about politics and if you guys want to stuff your pockets and sacrifice our children we

061will not stand for it it is unacceptable to us we see your facial expressions i see you laughing rachel when she's pointing you out we know what you're doing i've watched videos where every single one of you took your mask off and you sat here and bullied my child you know what everyone in the community knows who you are they know where you work they know where you live we can't stop them you know keep going keep going we know who you are it is you are right here your videos are online you're hiding things hiding your six minutes we're not dumb we have common sense because we don't walk around blocking our oxygen utility to our brain on a daily basis if you want to choose to do that that is a choice and

062guess what we live in a free country and we can do whatever we want and we are not going to let you bully our children create anxiety and fear and depression you already have suicide on your hands from last year how many more cases can you take because we are going to rub it in your faces and remind you every single day every time a child commits suicide and has anxiety and all of the doctors that are now prescribing medications for the kids i was at adams when the kids were going on an overnight camping trip for two days and they spent well over an hour discussing everybody's allergies and sensitivities and their medicines there is no one-size-fits-all you think a vaccine across the world is going to heal every single person kids are going

063to die have you even ever read the ingredients in this vaccine does anyone in here read it i know you can't answer me it's a rhetorical question do you even know what's in it it is not even a vaccine by definition it has graphene oxide i'm going to keep going for one more minute there is graphene oxide in this vaccine it blocks the same rules that i did for everybody else greater would you guys like to vote to extend the time okay hearing none that that's the end of your time to speak right now and if you can't keep your mask on i will ask you to please leave we are trying to follow those rules we watched you i watched you for three minutes without your vaccine you took it off to speak and

064we can't it is a free country following the california party i'd like to tell rules that have changed since those times i i would like to have i have asked you please okay well i would like to have proof of claim i want to hear proof of claim because i have child abuse act section 2.5 article 1165.7 second all those in favor we're going to take a five minute recess so we can take a moment i have an example okay continuing on with one advanced written request from a miss christina miller everybody i do appreciate um taking the time to squeeze me on i know i was really late because i was dropping my son had to pick my son up from golf practice i do apologize for my attire i've just been running around

065all day um first of all i just want to tell the board a little bit about who i am i am a i'm very nervous excuse me i'm a mother of two in the district i i was recently diagnosed with cancer in so my family is a very good emotional high-risk family i appreciate what the board has done to try to safeguard our kids masks make a difference they save lives we need to do what we can every life is precious i heard someone say earlier today oh it's only 0.008 well trust me i'm a cancer i have cancer who who thinks they're going to get cancer i am in that percentage i don't want my children i don't want that to be my child please do what you can to safeguard our children it

066matters i know you guys have done what you can and i really really really appreciate it i think you could do more to be honest i don't understand how these parents are getting up here and saying all these things about like oh mass freedom it's different death people don't you get it 600 000 people have died i don't understand it's crazy please it's a simple mask love one another wear it it saves a life oh my god i don't understand it anyways i need to get ahold of myself shut up that was so we're not it's not we're not going to be making comments from the gallery please anyways i really came here to urge the board to do more what they can i think that mass should be mandated outside as inside on campus

067to safeguard our children's it doesn't make much difference for us putting a mask on our children they're allowed to be outside and being very close proximity to one another especially our elementary school kids i like i said i have got two children in the district my son is in high school and my daughter is in elementary school and she is unvaccinated we are doing what we can to safeguard her but wearing a mask inside and not wearing it out doesn't make any sense her clothes her friends they get very close proximity to one another a mass can make a difference mass should just be mandated the whole entire time it doesn't make any sense in addition to that random testing could be done random testing it works there are studies that can provide data that

068actually really reduces the risk of covet i don't know but anyone but i don't want that one child to be my child i don't care if it's low risk but what if that's your child i don't want it to be mine no it's not home school you know what let's talk about that home school okay all right my daughter i didn't even get into that my daughter has an iep and we are not eligible for homeschooling we cannot do it it's like we cannot do it she falls further and further and behind i appreciate your ma'am i need to apply the rules the same way i can ask the same question does anybody want to extend the time okay we've heard you we thank you and i'd ask remind the audience this is not an

069opportunity to engage with other speakers as well so thank you for i wasn't heckling i really don't appreciate the fact that we didn't mean quorum and maintain order that was really offensive behavior by the audience i have a question i wanted to ask one of the speakers sure quickly um i think it was sheila um you said something about eight hundred thousand dollars can you tell us just tell i can't enter i can't go back and forth with you but can you just tell me what you're talking about um i think engaging in a conversation about money i don't think is necessary now what were you you said something 800 000 what was what what specifically is that about okay so let's let's just table the discussion for right now okay dr keller we're going

070to move on from the the hearing is that okay yeah i mean no i mean as a board member we're allowed to ask you a specific question we can't engage in a back and forth and what you were stop stop stop you know what you guys can't follow the rules i withdraw the question let's move on okay all right i don't have an advanced written request but would you like to speak yes is it to someone who's already spoken okay i think we've heard does the board want to allow that to happen at this point okay i think that we've heard from everybody we don't have any amount check with the folks we don't have any other people with advanced written requests okay i think we're going to end the public hearing now and move

071on with communications first up we have let me see redondo beach teachers association
