Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. I even remember my iPad tonight. >> I did. I did. >> Rock and roll. Say we get ready to go. >> I'll be doing this. I had a procedure on this eye. >> Oh, >> salsman's a kind of broken go. Show this on >> these things off. >> First order is pledge of allegiance. I allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> We had an executive meeting scheduled at 6:00, but our presenter uh could not make it tonight. So, it's being rescheduled to the next uh I guess the next uh board meeting night. Um, board members, you received the agenda in advance of tonight's meeting. You have
had time to review, research, and consider the matters to be voted on tonight. Board members, do you have any questions or concerns to be addressed before we proceed? Mr. Chairman? >> Yes. Item 14 talks about the reading of a policy. Um, that it refers to some action the board took at the August meeting. Should that be moved down to 15 at item 14 actually be action to null or void the action that was taken in August? You follow me? >> Yes. >> You had a motion and a second and put into place on the polic or a action that actually is contrary to policy. So, we're trying to fix that tonight, but I think you need to nullify that action. Okay. Okay. So then we'll make number 14 um void the uh policy 0144.1 that
I believe was taken um that we voted on in August uh because we did not since we did not have a first and second reading on that. >> We still have 0144.1 that was approved earlier. >> Yeah. >> So you're not going to strike that you're just >> the one from August. nullify the actions. All I'm saying >> on from August. >> Okay. And then we'll move everything down by one. So 15 becomes or 14 becomes 15, etc. You do have uh there is one condition that needs to be made. It was a homebound that came up uh that we have to do that we're asking for approval for, but we have to do it. Uh and that is adding Megan Apple for uh approval to do a homebound service. It's 24 or 20 >>
that' be 22 >> 23 >> that point >> can we do is uh well after 20 the 021 >> yes >> 021 is 22 so 22 >> be 23 and 22 becomes 24 >> yep yep Okay. >> Uh, it will be avoiding uh the August 20 or August 2025 action. I'll I'll read it when I get back there or when we get there. >> Yes, that's correct. Okay. Number three, approval of the minutes from the November 19th, 2025 board meeting. I do have a note. There was some there was a date in there that's 21108. It needed to be uh 20 uh was my note on that and that was one of those bonds. Um so we just need to update that that note. Um any other updates or anything on the minutes? If not,
could I have a motion and second to approve? >> Mr. President, I'd like to make a motion we approve the minutes from the November 19th, 2025 board meeting. >> Can I have a second? >> I'll second. But is it the 19th or the 18th? >> Minutes or date is the 18th. >> Oh, >> we're making a motion on the 19th. >> The meeting is on the 18th. It was on the 18th. >> On the 18th. >> Was it the 18th? I'll amend that motion to make it >> November 18th. >> My second stands on the 18th. >> Okay. Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Approval for the claims for the month of December. Could I have a motion and second to approve? I'll make a
motion to approve the claims for the month of December. >> I'll second that. >> Any discussion? >> If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Next item is principal report. Good evening. I'm going to go first. Today we have some a little bit of a choir show concert happening. Um I'll start off by saying ELF is finishing up. The season is finishing up. We are um I I saw this firsthand last year. It's an amazing program. This year we were able to help out 26 families. Um that's roughly 50 kids that go to school at Lanesville Community Schools. Um there's a ton of people that you could thank. I mean, I could sit here and go down a list of everybody who had something to do with ELF. Um,
I do want to mention um Megan Hodgej, Mary Simco, Becky, you know, kind of managing all the funds and all the money that goes into that. They they just all play intricral parts in that and we really it would be difficult to have this without them. Um, also want to thank Meyer because they donate a large amount of funds. We are lucky to have a partnership with them during ELF. It's awesome to go in and watch. I don't know if I know some of you were there. Um, but to watch the kids go through and like really try to find great gifts, stretch the dollar amount that they get for kids. Um, it's an anonymous. They don't know who they're shopping for. They just get like an age of the kid and the stuff that
the kid kind of had on a wish list. And so they go through and it really makes a difference in these kids. And you can tell they're really trying hard because they know it's kids that go to school with them. And um that means a lot. And so um I just wanted to say thanks and again Meer gives some money for that. Um so yeah um also just to go back with finals week happening this week. Um we're gearing up for fall or winter break. I can't believe how fast this semester has seems like flying faster than um it did last year. I don't know if it happens like that every year, but it's really going. Um, and just to wrap it up for teacher tonight, we have our art teacher, um, Rachel Hopkins and
band teacher Heather Perkins are going to discuss their winter projects that they have done and maybe put on a little bit of a show for us. So, we're excited for that. If you guys want to come up and say anything, they do a really great job for our >> Are you guys Are you letting out 2:30 Thursday? Yeah, we are letting out 2:30 Thursday and 2:30 Friday. Yeah, because it is our finals week. >> Okay. Yep. >> Thank you. You're welcome. >> Hi, I'm Rachel Hopkins. There's some people I know in here, but if you haven't met me, this is my second year here at Lanesville. Um, I got to do my student teaching here under uh David Hanky, so I got a little bit of a crash course on what Lanesville is about. Um,
in my two years here so far, I've had so much fun. Um, and I've also gotten to watch a lot of kids grow up. Specifically, I feel like the fifth grade class I've, you know, when I started, they were just little third graders and now they're big kids, you know. So, it's amazing to watch them grow and watch their artistic journey. So, I put together a little slideshow of just some of the highlights. Um, all of the show is still up and it will be up through the rest of this week. Um, so we have a silent auction going on where we are selling both elementary and high school um, projects for, you know, you can bid on it. Um, and then we also have our ornament sale going on which our uh, ceramic students
make ornaments and um, we sell those for for the classroom. It all goes back to the room. So yeah, here's some more pictures. And I am K through 12, so you'll see high school and elementary. My morning is high school. Afternoon is the littles. >> I thought your kindergarten trees were good. >> The logs. >> Yeah, >> we're still working on branches. >> They had logs. Trees log was quite interesting. >> Hi, I'm Heather. I am the music teacher K through 12. I do not have fancy pictures to show you this evening, but last night we did have our uh third, fourth, and fifth grade music program. I love bucket drumming. It's so much fun. But they did a great job. They We did boom whackers. Um parents were not happy with the gazoos. I'm
still apologizing for the kazoos, but fifth grade kazoos were so much fun. We had a blast. Um, but they got to show what the what's happening in the music program and I know some of you were there. Um, I hope you enjoyed it. We make a lot of noise and we enjoy the noise. So, they did a great job. Um, my concert that we were supposed to have Sunday unfortunately got um, iced out. So, that concert is still um, TBD. Um, we're going to eventually have scheduled, but I just want to let you know kind of what's going on. >> My seventh grade is class is amazing. They are learning very complex rhythms and just love their instruments. I got kids going to contests out of the seventh grade band, which is great. Can't wait
to see what they do. Um, they love music. They love being a part of band. In fact, they're sitting there just when can we do pet band? When do we get to do pet band? So, I love their enthusiasm. Um, I'm going to skip choir because from them in a minute. Um, my band, if you've seen them during pep band season, you can tell they're very I thought I was going to have a very small band this year because I lost so many seniors. I actually gained plus. >> I'm at 44 kids in my first period band, which is incredible. And I did the math. 72% of them are eighth and ninth graders, >> which means they're very young. We are playing Sleigh Ride, which if you know anything about Slayigh Ride, it's one of
the hardest pieces that you will play. You play it all the time, but it's really, really hard. And they're handling it. I'm looking at one of them up there because I know how hard she's worked on it. They're hand out like troopers. And they are just doing an incredible job. And also, the other statistic is five of the kids in that first period band either just picked up their instrument for the first time this year and playing slayigh ride or they haven't played for two or three years and they're playing slayigh ride. So, they're an impressive group. So, I will once when I get that figured out, I will let everyone know because they deserve to play their music. They work too hard. Going back to my choir girls, they are going um two out
of the four, I only have four this year and one is sick and one's a basketball player. So, and one's running and she is running a fever 103 right now. But we are going to present one of our songs from the concert and it's called Winter's Waking. And these two young ladies are my rock of this choir and we thought we would show them off tonight. So they are going to sing Winter's Waking for you this evening. In the deep sky. Onx winter's waking frozen stars falling from her end. These stars are only lonely companions. Falling, falling, falling, falling to the sleeping. >> She follows them down in her gown of frost. He rushes by trees and our limbs are to like the horses that race through the night. She gathers up hereses away. >>
Oh, winter winter. >> Oh, winter winter winter. Send your stars and your snowflakes down to me. >> Oh, winter winter. >> Winter winter winter. I am ready to catch them in my hands. In a deep sky, >> in a deep sky of morning, >> winter wonder. to wonderful heritting falling falling falling to the sleeping wind. The sleeping Nope. Can't compare. Way to go, girls. great talent. Um, and thank you that last night was a great time. Um, the holiday season is in full swing. Um, we at the elementary, um, our hallways just look amazing with all those art projects and it was just so much fun watching all of the kids and the families see all the showcase and all the work. So, thank you guys so much. And then the concert was just a
huge success. And so, we had a lot of fun. So, thanks, shout out to Hopkins and Perk for the art show and the music program. Um, our L program is a hit. we hit both of our goals. Um not just hit, but we also exceeded our financial goal and our items. Um and so it was just amazing um to see all of the items come in and we are ready to share not just with those families that he mentioned, but also you know other families as need arises um into the coming year. So we also have the PTSO holiday shop and I hope I'm not stealing any of your thunder, Lauren, but it has just been such a huge hit and such a labor of love what these moms do. to the people that are
shopping year round, storing year round, hauling year round. I'm a mom of four kids and I know how much my husband hates clutter. So, I can't imagine starting in January with Christmas clearance, probably December 26 with Christmas clearance and you have to house that all the way until the coming year. I mean, just what a labor of love. Um, even through ice and snow, through the elf, we were here, the parents were here unloading. Um, it was just great to see them all come together. So, it's been a lot of fun. Um, our staff came together this week. We had our HO feast. So, if we look, if the camera is adding 10 pounds, it really was probably just for Monday. Um, but we're having fun with our 10 days of Christmas. Every single day,
our staff either gets a treat or there's just some way to show our appreciation for all that they do for um, our students. Um, we also have spirit week this week. So, today was our silly antlers or hats and silly socks. Tomorrow's PJ day. Um, and we have our quarter 2 celebrations that we're going to end um, the season and our holiday parties on Friday. So, just lots of hustle and bustle. And we believe that Sassy the Elf and a guest celebrity are also planning a visit tomorrow so that we can share PTSO treats with um, our students. So, we want to wish everybody a merry Christmas. Lauren, did I take it all? I'm so sorry. On that PTSO report, she's got great things to share, too. But um tonight we also wanted to kind
of highlight um Kelly Winslow is not able to be here but Kelly um has such a creative niche niche. Niche is that right? I'm saying it right. But um she is just very creative and she has been able to take some technology um and snapshots of all the things that are happening at the elementary and really put them into um great ways to just share all the things that we're doing. Um she worked with students to create a video um and Lanesville actually won first place um for the Indiana Association of School Principles real impact real like ree um impact contest for our club spotlight and that club spotlight was really on our robotics program. So we have that for you. Um do I need to hit play Paul? The thing I like most about
robotics is that it's not just you and you get to do everything. I like because I like Mr. There's one. So the whole idea behind the contest is that we will put a positive digital footprint out for our school. And so they want little 30-se secondond, you know, bites. All of our kids are on Tik Tok and Instagram and all of these things. I'm sure all of you guys, all of us are guilty of scrolling through all of that. And what better way than to show all the great things they're doing. This actually was judged by the students from a media um from IU um that actually came in and used it as a rubric. So we competed um the middle and high school division. Um we snuck in our sixth grade. And so again,
it was just amazing. And Mr. Miller and I um honestly, we didn't know we won until we were at the principal conference and they played the high school. We weren't in the session that they played our winning video and it was announced in the other room. And so, but it was just such a treat. So, it's again about bringing creativity, seeing the spotlights, and then also just tapping the talent of our staff. We've got such talented staff. So, speaking of Mr. Kramer, you're up. I did not bribe her. I just want to tell you that. I didn't know that that was said. I saw it, but I have held it over her head quite a bit. So, um I may have gotten my digs in on Hannah. So, I've got with me um Arya Carter
and Violet Bared behind me. I'm going to let Arya talk to you in just a second. And Violet's holding up our robot that we've built. Um but I would did want to give you an update real quick. We have um 44 students in robotics. I might have teased Miss Perkins that my robotics club might be as big as band. Not quite. >> You're still bigger, but we're trying. Um nine of those are middle school and 35 of those are elementary. Um we wrapped up fourth grade at Thanksgiving um with a small competition. They use the robots that you all have seen in the past at the board meetings. Um so yeah, we have two competitions in January. Um, we're going to compete in Tel City and in Seymour on two Saturdays in January. And we'll
see how that goes. But I'm not here to talk to you much. I want to let Ari >> Can you run it over here? it back and forth. >> I like robotics because it's challenging and it helps with your building skills. Also, in robotics, I like that we get to work together and it makes you more more comfortable around people and it's and it's just fun to drive the robot. So, something I find challenging in robotics is driving the robot because it gets it goes really fast and you need to have a lot of practice with the robot so you can be more confident in competitions. Sometimes we all have an idea ideas and it can get really confusing. Robotics is really fun and I enjoy it so much. What does this robot do? It's
got like a clamp on it. Does it catch Does it grab something or what? >> It has four motors. Yeah. >> So, we've got a drive wheel and a drive wheel. Separate motors. >> Yep. >> There's a motor to lift. It goes up to about this height. >> Yeah. >> And then a motor to open the >> So, the goal is they have an object. So they could be like work at Amazon or something like that doing packages and stuff like that. That's what they're using. >> No, I get it. >> That's what they do. >> And then they're very Thank you. >> Yeah. I want to thank the principles for bringing such positive things to the meeting. I love it. Thank you, principles. >> Singers for positivity. >> I know those two. >> They
know you can sing. Thanks for showing that. I mean, okay. Thank you for doing that. >> Apparently, he can too. He says, >> "No, you're not." I would have probably started singing with you. >> That's okay. Good job, though. >> Next up, superintendence report number six. >> Um, first thing, like we were talking about that video and a few other things. If you've noticed in last board meeting, we showed video uh that was put together by Pro Media. We now have that running um on our TVs in the commons and out by the office and those types of things. We also have a promotional video that has started running at the cordon cinemas and so over Christmas break I know kids like to go to the movies and parents uh you may just see your
kid on the the movie screen. Uh and so that's running and we're now currently working on our our second to promote Elf uh the program and uh show what is there. And so, you know, we always talk about small community and worldclass education. We wanted to make sure that our two videos, the first two, and then we'll start doing one in the elementary and one in the high school uh each quarter moving forward. But we wanted to make sure that we highlighted those two things first, the worldass education uh as Dr. Stiller was talking about what Lanesville did for him. Um and um Greg Raw as well. Uh and then now we're talking about the small community and how we are the hub of the community. Um not the school but the people within it.
Uh the students, the families, the teachers. Uh so I wanted to highlight those things first. But if you're at the movies over the next several months, just kind of see us up there on the big screen. And when I say us, I don't mean me. Uh I am not on there. Thank goodness for everybody. Um Mr. is already brought up, but we will be releasing our normal Friday time, but on Thursday, we'll be releasing our normal Friday time as well. Something that we've done here at Lanesville for a long time, the last two days of each semester, we get out uh half an hour early. Um it's a good tradition, something I think most people thoroughly enjoy. Um winter has not been kind thus far. We've already utilized two asynchronous learning days. We're down to
one left. Uh the state only allows us to have three. After that, we'll have to decide if we're going to go synchronous learning, which means your student has to log on with their teacher uh and the instructional assistant that might be in that class and do live instruction through the internet. Uh or the other option at that point is to cancel school the oldfashioned way and make it up during the first week of spring break. Um, so hopefully December is the worst of winter, but I I'm not anticipating that. Um, starting in January and they had a a special session, uh, but the general assembly will meet again in January. We've already seen a few things uh that that will come up before them that is educational based. Uh, it's a short session, so it's
not budget. Uh, but they will try to hammer out some issues that they created for themselves, especially in Senate RO act one. Um, we'll see where that that lands. I'm sure I'll be up there a time or two. Um, one of the things that uh they're addressing more that will affect especially our high school. They want to we now have legislation where cell phones can only be used during non-instructional times. So passing periods and um in the cafeteria at lunch and before and after. Um there is proposed legislation that looks almost identical on both the house and the senate side that pushes that quite a bit further where cell phones are not allowed at all. Uh neither are nonschoolissued technology devices so they couldn't bring their own iPad and smartwatches. They want to outlaw smart
watches for kids. Uh, so we'll we'll see where that goes. Um, the Santa shop was brought up and um I just wanted to show off what I what I got today and I put them on tonight. Brand new pair of AGO socks. My second grader Shepherd got those for me and uh I he knows that I I like colorful socks and so he did a good job. So, I am wearing them proudly tonight. And um love my kid and and I can speak for someone who now I have a student in the seventh grade, but I've got one still in the elementary. They absolutely love that. Going through and um picking out a gift for mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, whoever they're looking for, and and to present it to them. Um it truly is a
wonderful thing. uh and and I was grateful to get get these shocks uh as opposed to something else. Um but it is a a short report and that's what I have. Okay, next PTSO report a couple weeks ago and all um felt like it went really well and the students really enjoyed so that was a good and then Um, this past weekend we have set up and decorated for the holiday shop. We decorated some of the teachers doors in the elementary school. So, we got everything ready for this week and so far it's been going well and the kids really enjoy it like um Dr. holder and Apple said um the spiritware shop that we did, we are hoping that it gets delivered this week so it caned before um Christmas. If it's not, then
I will pick everything up and try to set up a day before Christmas to meet here at the school that people can come and pick up or somehow get it before Christmas. Um, and then our next Eagle days are tomorrow in the high school in the commons. And we were asked to participate in the 10 days of Christmas for the elementary staff and we provided the popcorn and coffee day. And then we also provided popcorn for the high school staff as well. So >> what are eagle days? What do you do on eagle day? >> Eagle days is where um we have a game for the high school kids and they can come in, they play the game and they can win prizes like drinks, candy, chips, stuff like that. So they can do that
during lunch. >> That's cool. >> Yeah, that's good. retired too soon. >> When I missed what you said, I was distracted. Did you say the the >> the frost buddies? Is that what you were talking about? >> I was talking about the spiritware. So, >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. And also with the frost buddies. I was waiting to get an email back. >> Okay. >> Um but that kind of had a hiccup with it. I'm hoping to get those or completely done and ordered and then shipped out. It's going to take about three to four weeks. Gotcha. Um, but yeah, those kind of had a little bit of a hiccup, but we should be moving in the right direction. >> Thank you. >> And Mr. Lynn, before we move on, there's one thing I forgot
part of my report. As soon as we adjourn today, uh, this is not a a school board meeting, but we do need to meet myself and you and Miss RothroRock and Miss Smith for the Lanesville Community School Endowment Corporation meeting. We just need to um shut down an account that was created years and years and years ago. Uh money that nobody even knew that was sitting there really. Uh so we need to shut that account down. It's $12,639.99. Move that back into the education fund so we can spend it on staff and um and students. >> So that's a mean immediately after adjournment. >> Yes. >> Okay. Um the number item number eight is public comments related to agenda items only. Uh there is nobody signed up. Uh number nine, approval for corporation treasurer Justin
Crawhorn to pay any remaining claims from 2000 sorry from December 17th, 2025 through December 31st, 2025 for the 2025 calendar year. This is just something that we do every year. Uh just in case something comes up uh and with the year end coming up for them, there are certain things they've got to close out or get out. Um but we do it every year. Go ahead and give that permission to to pay anything that needs paid before calendar year that might come up. >> Could I have a motion and second to approve? >> I'll make a motion. Approve it. Make >> a second. I'll second. Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. >> I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. >> Number 11. Approve the transfer of $56,359.99 >> from 441A contribution
from >> number 10. >> Oh, I'm sorry. Number 10. >> I put Mark. Okay. Number 10. approve uh resolution to transfer 250,000 from education fund to operations fund. And again, this is what we do quarterly. Uh done it for years. Um the state allows you to move up to 15% from education to operations. Um this is just that that quarterly transfer. >> Could I have a motion and second to approve? >> I'll make a motion to approve the transfer. I'll second. >> Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Now number 11. Approve the transfer of $56,359.99 the 401A contribution from the 8400 Trust Indiana to 0630 retirement fund. >> And this is what was set up in not this contract, but the contract before. and it's
one-third of uh interest generated during the calendar year goes into that uh 401A account that we created a couple years back. >> Could I have a motion and second to approve? >> I'll make a motion to approve >> and a second. >> I'll second it. >> Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Okay. Number 12, approve $12,639.99 plus accured interest to Lanesville Community Endowment Fund fund from the closure of the endowment fund at First Harrison. So, I guess that's what we're going to close after the meeting and we're approving >> the transfer right now. Could I uh could I have a motion and second to approve? >> Mr. President, I'd make the motion that we tr we approve that transfer of money $12,639.99 to the
endowment fund from the closure of the endowment fund for a terrorist and bank. >> And um that is contingent upon that board for actually doing that. >> Okay. >> Can I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> I think clarification. You're moving money from the Lansville Community Schools Endowment Corporation Fund. >> Yes. >> To the actual school corporation. >> They're two separate entities, >> right? No. Yeah. I didn't know if the public understood that or not. >> Yep. >> Endowment corporation was created when we first got riverbolt revenue and the superintendent didn't know what to do with it. >> Right. >> So, we set up an independent corporation not to mingle it with school funds. The directors of that corporation are the elected officers of this school corporation. officers, not the individual.
>> Okay. >> Second. Okay. Um, sorry about that. Uh, any more discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Okay. Number 13, approve. transfer from one budget appropriation to another to close out the calendar year end budget 2025. And again, this is something that we we do every year. Um, and it gives the approval for u the corporation treasurer who when you're looking if we've got one fund that has considerable amount of money in it still and one fund that is running um negative um we can transfer from the healthy fund to the negative fund sometimes doing cafeteria or a few other things like that to make sure that everything is balanced at the end of the year. Okay. Could I have a motion and second to approve?
>> I'll make the motion. >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. >> Okay. Number 14 is void the policy 0144.1 the August edition of it. August I believe it was edition. um the change in salary for board compensation. Could I have a motion and second to approve? >> I'll make the motion. I'll second it. >> Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. >> I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Okay. Now number 14 is the first reading of the amendment policy 0144.1. Um I'll go ahead and when we have a lot we kind of push them out but I'll read this one. Uh board resolution of compensation whereas Indiana code 202647 permits the school board to reasonably compensate its
members for their services and establish perdm rates for attending school board meetings. Whereas board members may receive an annual amount not to exceed 10% of the lowest starting salary of a teacher employed by the school corporation for their service along with the maximum perdm for regular and special school board meetings as set by the board of school commissioners for the Indianapolis public schools which is currently set at $150 for regular meetings and $75 for special meetings there for the Lanesville Community School Corporation. Board of Trustees hereby approves each member of this governing body to be paid in the amount of $3,600 per year in addition per DM of zero for attendance at regular school board meetings and zero for attendance at special board meetings and executive sessions. The compensation of this governing body remains in
effect until modified by the school board through resolution or motion. And that was the first reading. And then we'll have the second reading at the next meeting. Okay. Moving on to number 16. Approve James Felton as a substitute teacher. Could I have a motion and second to approve? >> I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. >> Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Approve Denise Dazzro as a substitute teacher. That's number 17. Did I have a motion and second to approve? >> Make a motion we approve Denise Daro as a substitute teacher. >> I'll second it. >> Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Approve Lauren Petty as a substitute teacher pending substitute permit. Could I
have a motion and second to approve? >> I'll make a motion to approve Lauren Petty as a substitute teacher. >> Pending substitute. >> I'll second that. >> Any discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. I. Oppose. Same sign. >> Motion passes. Number 19, discuss per resolution for bus drivers. >> Yeah. Um, we now with corporation bus drivers and now we have some that are running corporation routes and running the procer route as opposed to just doing one or the other as in the past. Or we have them running a corporation bus route and running a special education route for us. uh which by the way we now are in desperate need of two more drivers for a midday because we've added another preschool starting in January. We do not have the drivers for
it. Um we have some now that meet the qualifications uh for PEF uh which is retirements public uh employee retirement fund. Um we've got a a resolution here uh to for those that qualify to start paying that. Um it's been set at 11.2% uh by the actuary of the fund. And so like we do with uh other employees uh hourly employees um instructional assistants uh nurses assistant uh some cafeteria workers um they get PEF money for retirement. Uh and so we before you know when I first got here the only route that we had was Proser that was a corporation route. We've added some, anticipate to probably add some more. Plus, we're adding special education routes, but we do have some that meet that that qualification at this point in time. Uh, and so we're
going to start doing that, but I have a resolution here. Uh, and I will need a few signatures from you. But I wanted to make sure that we discussed it uh, in public just so everybody knew what we were going to do as the corporation. >> Dr. Apple, is the 11.2% the total contribution or that's just the corporate share? >> Um, it is ours. It's and it's the total um it says the governing body is fully cognizant that if it is resolved that the governing body will place an employee in the fund the percentage of cost of gross annual payroll of covered employees has been set at 11.2% by the act by the actuary of the fund and so 11.2 is what we pay into that. >> And does the in county government the there's
there's an employee share at 3% and the the county pays 3% but in Harris County or se 11% I'm sorry but in the county they elect to pay even the employee share. Ours is just the corporation share or is it 8 and three total 11? We we we pay um that entire portion, >> but the employee does the employee make a contribution that we cover, I guess, is my question. Not sure >> on on on the Perf employees. Um I don't believe they do and and I'm going to reach out real quick. Liz, do you know that? Veronica, do you know that as well? I don't believe they pay anything into it. >> I'd have to ask Carrie just to double check. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And it goes straight. But that they
don't we contribute that whole. >> That's a good point. But the school's paying all of it, but apparently there is no employee contribution school coverage. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> Pension pension stabilization fund. Is that what you said? >> Okay. Yeah. >> So, do we need to have approval to sign that? >> You can take a vote on it. We were discussing it tonight. >> Okay. So, it's not So, we're not signing it tonight. >> It's a It's a resolution for the bus drivers. I would if if you guys feel comfortable, then we can go ahead and move in that direction. If you want to push it off because it does say discussion, if you want to push it off until January and it doesn't say for a vote, that is fine as well. Um,
they'll start it'll start rolling then after that vote. Does any portion of the employee the the employment related policies talk about a retirement plan and this is a change in policy or it's just a brand new resolution effective we were going to start offering per to our bus driver >> to not not to all bus drivers >> those that qualify. Yes. >> Yeah. And so we were up for discussion tonight uh with >> I'd like to push it off >> with the new pay starting in January. That was the time >> time to do it. We'll be okay pushing it January. >> If you guys want to push to January, we can do that. >> Okay, we'll push that to January. >> Okay. Anything else on it? >> Nope. >> I just wanted to discuss
it and make sure everybody was aware that we were considering that. >> Okay. Number 20, approve increase in substitute pay from $80 a day to $90 a day starting January 1, 2026 with approval with the with approval of the increase in substitute pay. This will also increase severance pay for leave days for teachers as stated in article five section A. It will also increase the amount under article three paid leave section B. >> Yeah. And so really what what we're doing is wanting to up the pay for subs by $10 a day. Uh an effect of that and it's a positive effect for our teachers. um whenever the uh the VIBA then gets paid into it's stipulated on on what gets paid um the days that aren't used and that kind of stuff and so
it will affect that there will be more money for them coming through that. >> Is that an issue? I mean substitutes is that a problem? I mean I know you got to raise the price I was going to say >> it's hard to they're they're hard to find. >> It's everywhere. Okay. >> Yeah. And it talks about article 5 section A. Is that reference to policy? >> No, that is the contract. >> Okay. >> Teachable. >> I'll make a motion to increase that pay. >> I'll second that. >> Any discussion? >> If not, all those in favor say I. I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Okay. Number 21. Approve. Approval for any juniors and seniors interested in career in a career in health care care will be at the Hilton Garden in Louisville airport
on Thursday, January 22nd to attend Norton Healthcare Career Exploration with Audrey Brown. Could I have a motion and second to approve that? >> I'll make a motion to approve. >> I'll second. >> Go ahead. I'll second it. >> Any discussion? >> Audrey, do we have quite a few kids in that? >> That's a lot. >> Good. Good. Junior seniors, >> that's an all day. >> A former senior. >> I tell you what, I've had that, you know, since I've been around here for 10,000 and years. when I have gone to the hospital or it's nice to see one of my kids >> and I'm going wait a minute did I pass you or did you I was just you know making sure you know you go to the doctor and it's like oh my gosh
okay this kid was wow okay he was like he's like he's like a C student I don't know you know you're going to give me you're the anesthetist here and I'm going okay I'm not anyway it's good to have I'm I'm glad to hear that that's awesome that's good all right I'm sorry go ahead yeah >> any more discussion I'll let it go. >> If not, all those in favor say I. >> I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. >> Number 22. Approve the following coaches for the 2025 2026 school year. Maverick Beldon as JV boys basketball >> junior high junior high boys basketball volunteer coach. Clayton Crawford as junior high boys basketball volunteer coach. Gracie Adams as varsity girls basketball volunteer coach. Lauren Penny as varsity track coach. Could I have a motion and
second to approve? >> I'll make a motion to approve. >> I'll second it. >> Any discussion? I usually don't comment on anything, but it's great to see both Gracie Adams and Chris Van Hus, both top scorers in the Lanesville history to be both volunteer coaches. I think it's great. >> Yep. >> Okay. Any more discussion? If not, all those in favor say I. >> I oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. Number 23. Um, approve Megan Apple for H Homebound Services. Is that all we need to say? >> Mhm. >> Okay. Could I have a motion and second to approve? >> Make a motion to approve Megan Bound for Homebound Services. >> Do I have a second? >> A second. >> Any discussion? >> If not, all those in favor say I. I. >> Oppose. Same sign.
Motion passes. Okay. Number 24 is additional public comments. I think we've got three of them. The first is Veronica Hobs. I'm bringing a professional and the reason I'm here tonight gave increases to noncertified and those raises are appreciated but that does not change their desire to people do not unions organizing. Our parents feel these are employees that are going to be represented and access that allows them to support them. They value them. And so I would like to encourage you and respect All right. Hello. Good evening. By now you know me. Most of you have known me before that. Anyway, can you hear me now? Can you hear me? >> Yeah, you're good. >> Huh? >> I mean, I could go without it, but I need my voice. Um, good evening, members of the board.
um and our community. Again, my name is Chrissy Dodie and I am here on behalf of the pair professionals that work here at Lanesville with me. Paras are with students throughout the day helping them grow not just academically but in character and life skills. We assist in classrooms support social and emotional development and help maintain safe, creative, and nurturing environments where students can thrive. In doing this work each day, we strive to reflect the values this district holds dear. Union recognition provides pairs with a clear professional structure for communication and collaboration. It allows us to work together with admin in consistent and transparent way. Share our on the ground experience and help improve practices that support student learning and our school climate. When pairs are valued, students feel it. Teachers feel it. The whole school
is stronger for it. Forming a union is not about creating a division. It is about a partnership, clarity, and mutual respect. It helps ensure that expectations are clear, roles are understood, and concerns can be addressed constructively and professionally. These elements strengthen our school, benefit students, staff, and families alike. Recognizing our union affirms that paras are valued members of the educational team whose voices matter. When paras are supported and included, our school is more stable, communication improves, and students receive more consistent support. We are proud to serve our school and our students. Thank you for your time, your support, and your dedication to the making Lansville a place where every student can thrive. We respectfully ask for your support in January. Also, um if anyone has questions, wants more information, um anything, reach out to us.
Like, we're not trying to hide anything. We aren't going to get up here and tell specific things because we each have our own story. And I'm not going to speak for someone else. I will speak with you about my story and why I want this. And I have spoke with a couple of you. But everyone's willing to talk. I mean, we just want what's best for our students and for us and the staff in the community. We just want to everyone to just be on the same playing field. We all want the same thing. So, >> thank you. >> All right. Thank you. >> Next is Doug. >> Have to say my last thing now, do you? That's all right. Um, I do want to thank the school board for addressing um the compensation policy.
I think it was right that we back up and take the next step and and and do it right. So, I appreciate that. Um, board policies still have not been posted and it's coming a year now. It was a year December that the board started approving board policies and I don't know why they're not on the internet but I think that the board stands a little bit of liability there risk when we're not communicating the board policies to the community. Um so hopefully we can get those posted relatively soon because in April I think all the policies were approved and they need to be posted for the public. uh they really needed there. Another issue that I have encountered and of course I've been in risk management for 47 years now in the insurance industry
but when I come down Crest View where the crosswalk is I don't know if the board can initiate some conversation that speed bump out there when it's raining and dark at school you cannot see the painted lines on the road and it also would encourage to maybe have a solar fixture, solar powered fixture that is lit up that there's a crosswalk there. A lot of kids like to draw uh wear dark clothing and the other day I saw a little she must have been kindergarten or first grade trying to cross that crosswalk. And we got to take care of that issue somehow with the town. I know it's town street. It's not school street, but public safety there is just got to be paramount. These kids crossing back. >> Have you addressed the town about
that yet? >> I have not. Okay. I was hoping the board the board will probably have a little bit more leverage in probably going to the town. I could go to the town with the board member. I don't care. >> Yeah. >> But I I think it's a risk factor. I mean, we put all kinds of risk um mitigate risk inside the school building, outside the school building. I know that's a public street, but I think the board could probably go to the town board and maybe in collaboration work out something that would be safety for our kids because we don't want to lose one kid. You can't back up after you lose one kid that's been hurt or injured seriously. So, I'd like to I'd like to present that to the board as a
as something to >> I'm the old guy here that knows a little bit of history of the town. one point. There's a sign up a little bit beyond the big triangle and it had a big yellow flashing. >> Yeah, it's down by the >> There's not one up here. >> Well, there's one up here, but the town refused to pay for the power and >> let's go solar power. No, you know, like Yeah, like St. John, >> I guess. There there's some history with the town that they may not be very attentive, but it's a new administration. Who knows? >> New administration and new technology. And maybe we can do that for pennies on the dollar, you know? Uh, I guarantee you we could probably collect the money from the from the town people and
say, "Yeah, that's needed." I believe we could pass a hat and probably get that done, you know, if need be. You know, need, you know. Um the other thing that um I would address again I guess some time ago I addressed the LCS capital project plan that's on the website and it was uh adopted September 19th of 2023. There are several items there that uh I wish you go back and look. I don't know if there's been any update to this, but it goes to like cafeteria tables and chairs, and there was estimated end date was June the 30th of 2025 for $50,000 and a litany of list of things that are there. Uh, one of them is high school gym bleachers. Um, started on June the 1st, 2024, was supposed to end July 30th
of 2024 for $300,000. I know we got the new bleachers $400,000 at the end of 2025. So I think the the capital project plan is a little bit outdated. That is a public document that's out there on the website >> every every year. So when before we do the budget, they approve capital projects and the bus replacement. >> Well, I know that we did have you gave a um dissertation of a lot of capital projects that are coming. >> That was the >> But that's not on the website. >> That was the capital project. >> Yeah. So that's not been updated. And I I think for the taxpayers, you know, that want to see what their tax dollars are going for, what improvements is a school making and and those type of things, I think
it's beneficial, you know, when you're a taxpayer, you say, "Well, where's my money going?" Well, we have capital projects that are being addressed and these are the line items. Um, the other thing I'd encourage there is it seems like that we set out a dollar amount for a capital project and we don't quite get to them and I understand that then those capital projects should probably be increased in value to cover inflation, you know, cuz we got a bleachers here at 300,000, we spent 400,000, you know, so, you know, keeping that ticked up a little bit. >> Part part of the problem gives a little bit >> like what we just found out. Um, you put those things in. >> Yep. >> And because like for example on the budget this year, we were cut
$420,000 because our tax base isn't large enough here in Lanesville. >> So then some things get scrapped and moved and >> Sure. >> Um, >> you know, >> I totally understand. You know, just keep it updated. You know, that's that's >> we update it every year, >> you know. So, well, this is 2023. So, >> um, roof report. Do we have a roof report? the the actual roofing part is finished. >> Yeah, but the solar panels haven't gone. They will probably go on springtime. >> Okay. >> They don't want to get up into winter, but springtime, early summer, but the roofing part has been finished for a while. You still see the cones and all that stuff up there. But that is to outline where >> that will be. >> But the roofing part has
been finished for weeks now. >> Okay. Yeah. Well, I'm I'm wanting to save the money, you know, on the utility bills. We're experiencing high utility bills right now, you know, take advantage of the solar. Um, I do believe that communication equals relationship with the community and I want to compliment the board. It's improving. I'm I'm getting more information at the school board and more discussion and I think the community appreciates that and I do believe community communication, you know, improves relationship with the c with the community. So, I encourage that and keep going. So, thank you. I guess I'm asking Dr. Apple a question or a comment or the the the issue that Doug brought up with the policies getting on the website. Is that because the policies were our policies we approved but they
were created by Niola and or whatever that >> No, the the issue >> Yeah. Are are they getting them on the website for us? >> The issue is with Board Docs in and of itself and Board Docs is a platform that we've utilized here for quite a while. Um, and we'll reach out again and try to get it figured out. Uh, and Mr. Ancock back there can tell you when when we went down this road, then all of a sudden everything that was in board docks was gone. And so the issue now is getting it linked back up properly where it will show then on our site. And they still haven't been able to figure out exactly what that issue is. So they've got to then create a whole new board doc site. And so
the way I'm saying that's in the process and then it's a quick upload from there. >> Board docs is not a proprietary site of lanes with community school corporation. It's a host >> and board docs isn't nei. >> So it's not like our IT guys is not uploading policies. We got a host site that's having issues getting >> and there what happened was is then several well a year ago we always had board docs. That's what when you got on the website before it was on board docs. There's a there's an issue now where literally the entire Lanesville portion of it was gone. The minute that we started doing new policies, they took that off. We can't figure it out. They can't figure it out. >> Board Docs. >> Yeah. So they do >> it's
separate company and so it's really a board docs issue, not a Neiola issue. It's the the >> But what you're saying are they communicating with NEO the board docs is is there a is there a lapse between those two groups? >> No. I mean they they work together. >> Yeah. >> And again two threearters of all the state of Indiana uses Niola. I think everybody almost uses board docs. I don't know anybody even we didn't have Niola. We use board docs. But the issue then was whenever we pulled the old documents it pulled the entire site. Uh Mr. Trancock and I had several conversations with him a year ago uh and as soon as that get I haven't reached out to him uh recently but you know it's quick reach out to figure out what
it is. >> Yep. >> Okay. That ends the additional public comments. Do I have a number 25? A motion for adjournment. >> I'll make a motion we adjourn. >> I'll second that. >> Sorry. >> Any discussion? >> If not, all those in favor say I. >> I. Oppose. Same sign. Motion passes. >> One more thing. Merry Christmas everybody. And January the 10th, if we don't have we won't have a meeting for that. That's our Hall of Fame >> uh induction. Our first Hall of Fame induction groups going in on the 10th of January. No advertising. >> No, no.
