001at 5:30ish. [clears throat] Please rise. Join me in the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to >> All right. Welcome everyone to the MSD Mount Vernon board school trustee night uh on unfortunately a groundhog day that went arry but >> uh we'll start with the recognition of delegations persons wishing to be recognized to speak on any agenda item or to be heard as part of a section of the agenda dealing with delegations or citizen comments or to identify themselves by name and the point on the agenda where they wish to be recognized. Anyone? And we don't have any representative here. So, if she shows up, we'll reserve a spot for her. Okay. All right. Uh under recommended actions. Right. We will take A and B. Uh is there a motion to approve the minutes of

002the January 20th, 2026 meeting as prepared or as corrected? And then there's a motion to authorize payment of payroll checks 40 6323 through 407050 voucher checks 147244 through 147310 and electronic transfers ET 003366 through ET 03373 as recommended. Voided payroll and voucher checks not listed on the vouchers listed in above sequences are not approved for payment by this action. Go ahead. I'll do second. We have a motion by Mr. Isaac, second by Mr. Wood Williams. Is there any questions, concerns, or comments? Seeing none, we move to the vote. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed? Same sign. >> Motion carries. Have some unfinished business dealing with a new course protocol. Everyone's had a chance to review that. Uh, is there a motion to grant permission to add the following course for the 2026

00327 school year as recommended? That course is career and technical education pilot course. >> So moved. Second >> by Miss Butler, seconded by Miss Bessie. Any comments, questions or concerns? >> Seeing none, we will move to a vote. All in favor signify by saying I. >> I oppose. Same sign. Carries. Uh, new business. We will start with personnel and some resignations. RA resignation. Is there a motion to accept the resignation of Anna Gardner effective immediately? So moved. Second. by Williams, second by questions or concerns on this. Okay. Any other comments? Seeing none, we'll move it all. All in favor signal by saying I >> same sign. The motion carries. Have some meetings to review and approve. short list this time. Short list, correct? Is there a motion to adopt a resolution permitting personnel listed above

004uh to attend educational meetings? >> So moved. >> Second by Messi, seconded by Miss Butler. Comments, questions or concerns? Seeing none, move to vote. All in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those same signed and motion carries. Now we have to deal with some outstanding checks. Everyone's had a chance to review that. Mhm. >> Is there a motion to void checks that have been outstanding for two years or more as of December 31st, 2025 as recommended? >> Second. >> Made by Miss Butler. Second, Mr. Williams. Comments, questions, or concern? >> Not that many really [clears throat] in the whole scheme. Yeah. >> Yeah. Any texts we write that's for you? >> Yeah. >> Anything else? If not, we'll move to vote. All in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Same sign. Motion carried.

005And then we have a resolution to discuss dealing with potential property. >> And so we've been talking with Mr. Davis and uh he has expressed interest in selling uh property approximately 12 acres uh off of East Sherman Street. And uh so this resolution uh would be uh appointing myself as the purchasing agent to be able to negotiate u a deal with them and that would be limited by the state law of getting two appraisals and the average of those. So basically negotiating up to that that point one. >> Is there a motion to adopt a resolution concerning the possible purchase of property owned by Larry Davis appointing Bo Harris as purchasing agent? Move >> second >> is made by Mr. Isaac, seconded by Miss Butler. Any comments, questions or concern? >> So, this will [clears

006throat] give us I mean currently an FFA farms portion right also potential future building sites for our >> Right. Okay. Good. Any others? None. We'll move the vote. All in favor signify by saying I. >> I post same sign and motion carries. And then we have a use of Sunday facility used. Is there a motion to grant permission to the Melbourne Police Department to use the high school for training purposes on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 as requested? >> Second. >> It's made by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Cessi. This is something that this is pretty well an annual event that gone on for a number of years now. >> Yeah, this is pretty much an annual. >> Yes. Yeah. >> Yes. Right. Okay. No, good familiarity with the the structure. >> We welcome them to

007come do training. >> Yeah. >> And hopefully that it's just >> in a training mode. >> Any other comments and we'll move the vote. All in favor signify by saying I. >> I post same sign. Motion carries. Right. Uh we had no one uh for delegation or citizens comments staff communications from the superintendent. >> Yeah. So this exciting stuff. Um, so we have two separate locations for underground fuel tanks. One is kind of behind the high school cafeteria and then we have the ones at our bus garage for uh fueling all of our vehicles. Um, they they do come down and do testing on them regularly. Uh we were notified that everything's fine right now, but the tanks have a 30-year lifespan and we're at year 35ish on at the bus garage and that they're

008starting to show some signs that we need to uh go ahead and replace those. Uh right now the Indiana Department of Environmental Management is is uh actually offers a 50% reimbursement if we sign up right now. So, we've went ahead and submitted all the the necessary documentation to do that and then also reached out to three different vendors to get quotes on that. So, uh it'll be an expensive project, but be even more expensive if those tanks fail. So, uh while they're running this basically 50% off deal, now's now is really a good time to go ahead and proceed forward with that. >> And this is not an offer it's been made before. This is at that rate. Yeah, I don't I'm I'm not sure about before, but um I know they had sent something

009out that they they were uh extending that to to schools and other government entities that that want to go ahead and replace their tanks, and it seemed like good timing to take advantage of that. >> Will we go back in with underground storage? we would because if we do above ground uh that 50% doesn't uh count towards it. You have to replace with a like system and so uh we'd be paying full cost for removal uh full cost for the new installation and then infrastructure if we went above ground tanks. So hopefully uh we'll get another 30 plus years out of >> question. Do you know I mean you're still researching? Is there some nuances in today's world that that 35 is now 45 or 50 years? Do we >> I don't know if they

010listed that in the in the quotes that that we got, but >> Okay. That is it for the same size tanks? >> Yes. >> Yeah. [clears throat] Um, all right. Know if there's any questions from or by board members. Uh, anything in the calls? Nothing in the calls today? Uh, questions from board members? >> Nothing that you're aware of? [laughter] Okay. All right. Uh, go ahead and take us on out with future business. >> Don't want to put you on the spot there. So, is their professional development going to be moved to a different day or right? Okay. [clears throat] Anyone have any other questions? All the parking lots looked good. They did a real good job cleaning everything. I drove by all the schools and looked at them. So mountain might be there for

011a little while. Did it go okay today? A normal day. Great. rest was anxious to get back. >> Yeah. Right. Uh there's just no other business. We will stand to chair.
