Treasur's investment report. trends. So the last few years our next item on this agenda is the overall investment policy of the school city of Hobbert. Oh, I'm sorry. >> I'd like to make a motion that the board acknowledge the investment policy has been reviewed and accepted by the board of >> I just don't have a voting block on this one. >> That's why I didn't think there's >> So on on the interest what we were talking about, it's just an acknowledgement. There's no voting block. So, we're just acknowledging that the investment report has been reviewed and accepted. Oh, now it does say accepted there, but there's no going. Do I need to pull one up for that? >> And Mr. Longer, would that be legally appropriate? >> Sure. I followed your question. >> My question

is, do we need to actually have a motion and a second or we are we acknowledging or are we accepting? Because it says both. >> I think as long as you're acknowledging you can do it in the form of a motion but as long as you got consensus and the records that >> okay if you want to do it that way >> okay >> perfectens >> works for me do you want to do a roll call then Mr. Sure. >> Thank you. >> We'll have a roll call. David, >> Hi. Thank you. >> Appreciate it. Now we can do the investment policies next. The law also requires finance to policy. policies. There are no acceptable repositories that are process Thank you board. Your pleasure. like to make a motion that the board acknowledge the investment

policy has been reviewed and accepted by the board of finance. >> Second. >> We have a motion and a second. Board, if you would like to place your votes electronically this time, please. >> All right, we have a 60 vote. Thank you board. Next item on our agenda is the old outstanding checks. Mr. Notch of each year. Treasures finance. amount of such sheluc. Well, there you go. We've heard that. So, thank you, Mr. Glover, for that. We'll move on to our next item and that would be our fiscal indicators. Mr. Thank you. Indiana a couple of data sources as well What you won't find that provides directly on their At the top there as well as 2025 estimated population over the last several years broken down by spring Remind this graphic that I've included here

outlines historical back and forth on a calendar basis and on basis over the course of the last five years as well as changes but of course the formula itself changes state process. And so what you see there is a combination of those two things, right? The next graphic on fund balance. The first one you can see has a wide variety about 12 different categories there. All of our funds that focus on education operations that service our also constructions as well. The next page is uh the same analytic but broken down to simply focus on the funds that rely on operate district balances. Remember that project that results in capital funds resting with us in one of our constructions that can cause major fluctuations to those balance figures on the first million bondes that we subse

down constructions, which is part of why second. Um we've talked at length uh during budget season about the various factors that are at play for us and operations. So a lot of those things all types of insurance that's casual And so there are some of course funders choice education. challenges for us as well as the transitionur. So that's part of in that was a separate us >> and so any place on here where I' add up to 202. >> We do want to also point out that you're halfway in the year and don't forget there were some things that were done in terms of employment. So we hadition we had some reductions in so that matching of our enrollment, right? So those things were necessary to do, but you're not going to see a full

reflection of that because it's only focuses on basic deficit. Again, two different versions of that. One that includes all funds and another core education operational funds. As I mentioned earlier, constructions Finally, we move to fund balances as a percentage of expenditures. So this is a simple calculation that looks at those funds, what the cash balance is at the end of each year and what that is as a percentage of all expenditures in those funds. And so we can see anywhere% over the last decade very stable as well. Next couple of slides are simply revenue type. This focuses on the source of our revenue. The first version of that And then finally graphics specifically related. to operating legisl changes. And so on the course of the next years, All right, board. Your pleasure on the fiscal

indicators data. >> Like to make a motion that the board acknowledge the fiscal indicators report has been reviewed and accepted by the board of finance. We have a motion in the second board. If you would vote electronically again, please. Thank you. That passes 6. And our next item on the agenda would be to adjourn the board of finance meeting. And we're going to start our regular board meeting here in just a second. All right, it's 7:01. We're going to call the next meeting to order. Please if everyone would stand of the stands nationy andice for all. All right. First up is our

There we go. It was not going back. Sorry. Everybody like to make a motion board approve the regular session minutes of January 22nd. We have a motion and a second board. All those in >> should that reflect a different date for January. >> Oh, yep. The board should be for January 22nd. >> The title of the board is correct. >> Would you like to Thank you. And then you're still the voting block. Thank you, board. Next on the item agenda is the financial reports. Ladies, Okay. All right. Second, >> we have a motion in a second. Is there any discussion? There is not. We may place your vote, please. And we pass 6. Thank you, board. And the next item on the agenda is what everybody is here for and that would be the presentation recognition of our 2025 high school football athletes. >> So I'm gonna ask the student reps to join me over here. >> He's probably at senior night for swim. >> Awesome. I'm gonna introduce our head football coach Mr. um and you will be able to introduce our players and some of the accolades that they have. Thank you to the parents and students

for coming out on such a cool night over >> and we'll join you out here to celebrate our >> Thank you uh board. I appreciate you guys coming uh having us here to honor this team and uh what they accomplished this season. Um, I could spend two or three hours talking about these boys and what they accomplished. I did at the banquet and I apologized a few times to you guys about that. But, uh, truly it was a pleasure uh, watching these kids compete every Friday night. Um, and what they were able to accomplish together as a team uh, was was incredible. And then even obviously their individual accolades uh, were also incredible. Um, uh, obviously we went 10 and three this season. uh won a sectional championship. Uh it's the 23rd in school history.

Um that was uh a team uh number 98 uh for Hbert football uh history, which is incredible uh to think about. We started playing football in 1927 here and um uh to be able to add to the legacy uh of Hbert football uh and the way that they did and how they competed uh with each other was was truly incredible. Um uh winning 10 games uh in during the season was also a big uh feat. It was the fifth time. Uh we've had double digit wins since 97. Uh which is which is incredible. Again, a testament to these kids um and many other uh just team accolades that uh again is just a truly a testament to their work ethic. Uh what they accomplished all off season. Um it is a it's a sport that

uh requires a lot out of you. You have to be selfless. Uh you got to be able to love your teammates uh whether or not they say that to them or not. Uh they show it and how they play for each other um and and truly competed uh at a high level uh this season which was uh again just a pleasure uh to watch and be able to coach these boys uh this season. So um yeah, it's kind of what I've got uh go through the accolades. Sure. >> Excuse me, coach. Before you start to any of the parents, if you want to take any pictures, please feel free. If you you don't have to stay in your seat. If you want to move around and get a better view, that's fine. If you need

us to move out of your way, please let us know. Um, whatever you need to do to take your pictures. Okay. >> Good. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. Cool. Uh, first up, we'll have Logan Peters come down. Uh, type it up for him. Uh Logan's a senior for us. Uh this season, uh had first team all conference honors. Uh and today was just announced uh he was IFCA academic all state. Uh so that's our coaches association. Uh so again, just an incredible uh feat for him. Um played both sides of the football for us. Uh so he played offense and defense. Uh never really came off the field. Uh he's also on special teams quite a bit. Uh so he's a kid that we'll miss, but uh we're excited about his future. He has opportunities

right now uh collegiately. Uh he just got a uh scholarship offer for uh University of Indianapolis uh in Indie um and Valparezo University uh for uh football. So yeah. Uh next up we'll go Preston Perez. Clap it up. Congrats, buddy. Uh Preston was just recently accepted into Indiana uh University, uh Bloomington, uh which is awesome. Uh >> really? >> Yeah, it's it's incredible. >> Yes. Yeah. He was uh first team all conference. Uh Preston uh for most of his high school career uh played a position uh that he didn't last year. Uh he was a running back, linebacker. Um our coaching staff, myself, asked them to uh change positions uh and it truly helped change uh the trajectory uh of our team in a lot of ways. the selflessness that he showed uh putting his

hand on the ground, playing offensive line, defensive line, um truly showed just how much he sacrifices for his teammates, how much he loves his teammates and playing Hobbert football. So, uh just incredible. He's first team all conference as well this season. Um and right now competing in wrestling, I believe what 24-2 and three, sorry. 24 and three right now. So, doing really well. Yeah. Next up, uh, Alex Tatum. >> Alex uh was kind of our do it all quarterback. Uh, the leader of the team. Um, as a player individually, when we talk about total offensive yards, uh, he accumulated, uh, 2,600 total offensive yards. Uh so what that means is is that uh out of the about 4,000 yards of offense that we had, he had more than half of them uh for himself. And

uh not just his own personal uh doing obviously he's an incredible player. Plays with his heart on his sleeve. Uh fights for every yard and uh is a really great encourager, a leader, a captain on the team. Um but also just a testament to those kids around him uh that love to play for him and and and sacrifice for him to uh to do what he's able to do. uh as a quarterback. So, um he is on the IHSA leadership council uh as well as on our own personal uh team's leadership council. He has been the last few years. Um has many other academic accolades and does an incredible job in the school representing our program. Uh and he's also uh competing in wrestling as well uh right now. Uh I believe he's still ranked

first in semi-state at 190. So, uh competes in multiple sports, which is great and we love that. So, uh, congrats, Alex. Next up, uh, will be Aiden Cash. >> Uh, Aiden is a another guy uh on our program in our program that hardly ever came off the field. uh played defensive end uh on on defense and and play tight end and uh wing back for us on offense. Um uh a kid that just truly just dedicates himself to the weight room um and offseason training uh multiple times uh a week. Uh he's a really good student and has a tremendous opportunities uh to play at the next level. Um so we're really proud of what he's done. Again, plays with his heart on his sleeve. Not necessarily the most emotional guy. Did get excited though.

I think it was against uh New Prairie in the first round of sectionals. Uh he made a play in the back field and like clapped like he was excited for himself. Uh which was awesome because he usually doesn't play that way. Uh but that life in him uh and what what we expect out of him this year. Uh we're really excited about what he can do for us. Uh and he was also first team all conference this year. So good job uh Aiden. Uh, next up we'll go Ethan Abrao. Ethan, uh, again, just, uh, a kid that over the course of my time knowing him, uh, how much he's grown from his freshman year, uh, to his senior year and what he was able to accomplish on the field for us this season, um, was,

uh, just truly incredible. uh how much he's matured and uh and truly was a uh a staple for us on our defensive line. Uh like an anchor that for our defensive line, play tackle, defensive tackle for us. Uh wanted to always be on the field. Uh had to push him back a little bit and and just have him focus on Dline. But he did get in on offense. Even had a carry on offense, which was cool. Uh what was that play called? Waffle House. Waffle House is a play he created. Uh so uh yeah, it was it was awesome to watch on senior night, but um yeah, the way he competed, the way he loved his teammates. Um yeah, I it was halftime, a new prairie game, uh and we were up pretty big at

the time and and we hadn't beaten him uh now, I guess, for a while. And and we came close the year before. Um but it was like halftime of that game. And I look over at Ethan after talking to the kids and he's in tears like because of how proud he was of his teammates. um how much passion uh and love he has for his teammates and not wanting the season to end at that point. And um that's just how he always competed. Uh loved his teammates and did everything we asked him to do. So uh we're very thankful for you, buddy, and looking forward to what you do in the future. Next up, uh Britain Thompson. Brenton is another kid again like all these guys that that uh really bought into our weight room

program uh in the off season. Um so to put things in perspective a little bit uh the year prior uh to me taking over. We have clubs. We have weight room clubs. Um and uh it's 800lb club, 900lb club, and 1,000lb club. Okay? and and we add up our power clean bench and squat and they fall under one of those clubs. Um and Brenton works extremely hard, dedicates himself to it. The year prior to me taking over, we had one in the 900 and four in the 800. Uh and that was it. Um this past year, uh like many of these guys up here, uh are in multiple clubs. Uh we had two in the 1100 pound club, uh one in the,000, four in the 900, and 11 in the 800. Um and and Brenton

was one of those guys that were able to to get on that into one of those clubs and um truly dedicates himself in the offseason. This year in particular, he came in uh when we needed him most uh and uh against LOL uh week six and had no prior varsity experience, but he grew and from his time in week six to the last game of the season, he showed tremendous growth and developed extremely well. Um and so he saw his work ethic come to fruition this season. Uh, and we're so proud of him and what he was able to do and we're looking forward to what you can do this year. Congrats. >> Next up, Miles White. >> Miles, uh, sophomore this year, although he doesn't necessarily look like a sophomore uh, or always played

like a sophomore. Uh he he definitely played beyond his ears. Uh just uh very gifted uh talented, played a huge role for us on the defensive side of the ball. Um playing our our stud uh safety slash like linebacker hybrid uh type kid. And um it was a position he had big shoes to fill uh from the previous year. And he showed again tremendous growth from the spring to the summer um and competed uh at a high level. uh and his understanding of the game grew uh tremendously and and from week one uh to the last week of the season. Uh he he he was just such a big component to our defense, making sure uh you know what he his doing his job right, setting the edge and and making plays on the edge,

but also uh kind of being himself. I think he kind of grew a little bit to be himself and and when he's himself and uh he's happy and and a little goofy and it helps with the team morale and and we have a good group of kids that are like that that uh truly help elevate uh everyone else around him and um so yeah, we're really excited about what he can do next year and maybe taking on multiple roles. Uh but uh yeah, congrats Miles. Next up, Stephen Miller. >> Stephen Miller, uh, second year now starting at free safety for us. Also, uh, took on a role at receiver, uh, on offense. Uh, a kid that is truly, uh, selfless. He's always in the right place at the right time. kind of like our quarterback

on the defensive side of the ball in the in the secondary uh making sure that that everyone's in the right position uh in coverage and making adjustments as needed and um uh you know from year one his sophomore year he kind of came onto the scene and really didn't know uh what he could do, who he could be. Um and we had an injury early on his sophomore year where kind of catapulted him into the starting position as a sophomore and and he he just he grew from there. uh showed tremendous growth, the ability to make plays, wasn't afraid to stick his head in there and make plays uh in the box and and tackle in the box and but also could range and do a lot of things in the secondary uh like intercept

passes and whatnot and and playing coverage. So, uh this year took on an extended role on offense uh and made a lot of big plays uh in the passing game, some really awesome catches uh for big games and uh we're excited about what he can accomplish this next season. He's also competing in basketball just like Miles. Uh I forgot to mention Brenton's a thrower in track uh as well. So uh a lot of multisport athletes here, but uh really excited about what Stephen can do um this next season. And uh yeah, man, congrats. I'm happy for you. Uh next up will be Michael. Michael was a uh honorable uh mention uh for allconerence punter. Uh and he replaced uh Xander Langford uh who is irreplaceable in a lot of ways. Xander's an incredible kid. Um

started for us three years was a kid that that was kind of like our uh shore fire like we needed a kick or a good punt like we knew we were going to get it out of Xander. Um and and Michael came out uh worked with Xander in the spring and in the summer and uh kind of learned to to love it and and and loved the locker room and his teammates and uh saw a different side of the program and uh really became one of one of our uh really just highly respected. Uh I know I I I knew I could count on him. You know, if we needed a big punt, I knew we could count on him. And in the game of football, there's hidden yardage. And so, uh, in our punt

game, uh, we can help our defense out tremendously if we can flip the field. Um, and, uh, Xander was able to do that quite a bit. Uh, and Michael stepped in and and did it immediately. Um, and although he may not have played as much as he wanted to at times this year, uh, which is a good thing, okay, it's a good thing for not punting all the time, but uh, no, he he stepped up and, uh, punted over 44 yards on average, uh, which is incredible for a sophomore. Uh, top five in the state of Indiana, definitely I think first in our area in our conference. Um, and so we're excited about what he can do moving forward into his junior year. Um, but uh, congrats, Michael, and thank you, He's ali also a

multisport guy. He's a goalie for soccer and a baseball player. So really cool. Next up, Pacy Gomez. Uh Pace is a sophomore this year. uh started for us early on, faced some adversity uh with injury and and uh and became a guy that we knew we could rely on later in the season. Uh but his growth and development uh genuinely did not expect him to play the role he did early on. Um we had some young guys uh up on the offensive line um this season. Uh and we had to replace four seniors on our offensive line and he was one of those kids that did that early on and uh did an incredible job. had a tremendous amount of in-game experience, quality experience. Um, he's a really great kid. Always like just optimistic and

and and fun to talk to and I like to he's a big Penn State fan, so when they fired uh their head coach, I gave him a little hard time about that. Uh, and Tennessee took their defensive coordinator, but uh we won't talk about that either. Um, but anyway, uh really enjoyed uh his growth and development. Another kid that has totally bought into the weight room. Uh throws for track as well. Um, we're excited about his future, man, and what he can contribute next year. Next up, Jensen Lefoon. Jensen uh came onto the scene for us in the varsity lineup um midway through the season. Uh his first varsity start was against Andran uh which was uh a little rough playing against those guys as a sophomore being that your first uh in-game experience. Uh

but he gave it everything he has. Um that's what he does um consistently. Uh he he takes a lot to heart. So, uh, what you give him and what you try to, uh, to to give him to work on, he's going to take it and and run with it. And and he's done exactly that as this offseason's progressed. Uh, but even as the season's progressed, he's done he did a tremendous job um, and and being a main stay on our offensive line. Um, also played and rotated um, at times at linebacker uh, for us on defense. Uh, but multi played multiple sports. Uh he's a thrower for track uh and obviously competes for us in in the football program. We're expecting a lot out of him this year. Uh I think you've already put on

what 20 pounds this this offseason since the season ended which is good. We like that. Uh but uh healthy weight of course but really really awesome. Uh really great kid, an incredible student athlete. Uh and we're excited about what he can do for us next year. and uh Deon Devin Ben probably not. He's a freshman. Devin is a freshman this year for us. Uh was one of our freshman. We called up eight uh nine total freshman uh to our varsity uh sectional roster. uh he was one of those kids. He showed a lot of uh a lot of ability in the secondary uh to compete and and give us opportunities, especially on scout team. It's not fun playing scout football uh at all. Uh but it takes a selfless person to do it consistently and

um and he showed up and did that for us. Uh again, a tremendous athlete with a bright future. Uh but we are excited about what he can do for us next year as well. Um yeah, and uh thank you, man. I appreciate you. in there. We'll get you >> before you guys go down the get a group picture. >> Grab a group picture. Anybody would send that to Mr. extremely safe. >> Yeah, take tomorrow off. Usually it's you have homework so you have class tomorrow but not so much on the list. That's why we didn't have pretty much every >> minute one of those >> nice. That's what I heard. >> Awesome. Good job. Good job this year. >> I see you've been posting. >> Thanks, coach. Appreciate it. >> You're welcome. >> See you.

How you doing? >> Good. >> All righty. Next on our agenda item is the school counselor app. App appreciation day. That's you Dr. Buffington counselors and I'll turn it over to Mr. >> Read the title. >> Gotcha. >> Okay. So, the resolution we have number 2026-1. >> Oh, it's our first one. >> Yep. >> Okay. Our school counselor appreciation day. Maybe if you get closer. No, it's okay. >> Okay, so we have a resolution number 2026-1, school counselor appreciation day. >> Board, your pleasure. I'd like to make a motion that the board adopt resolution number 2026-1 designating February 4th as school counselor appreciation day. >> Second. >> We have a motion and a second. Is there any discussion? Board. >> If not, Mr. Porus, if you would do a roll call and board, if you

would also do an electronic one, please. >> Yes. Okay. So, we have a roll call. David Cosby. >> Hi. >> Don Rogers. >> Hi. >> Brad Keane. >> Hi. Hi, >> Franks. I is absent and Ricky >> I. >> Thank you board. And that passes 6. >> Next item on the agenda is a trademark license agreement with PEL Industries. Dr. Buffington. >> Yes. April 6th, 2026 through April 5th. with a royalty% of the lingark at Target and a copy of their trademark. >> I'd like to make a motion that the board approve the trademark license renewal agreement with Bella Industries and authorize superintendent to execute the agreement as presented. >> Second. >> We have a motion and a second. Is there any discussion? >> I think their flyers should all have Ricky here on them

instead of Kingston. >> All right. And we passed that 160. Thank you, board. Our next item on the agenda is the board delegates and committee assignments. I did send that out yesterday in an email and I have that here next to me. Um for 2026 negotiations committee is myself and Mrs. Hillen. The nice appointment is to Mr. Keane with Frank being his alternate. The ISBA voting delegate is Mr. Porus. The school city of Educational Foundation board of directors is Mr. Caspade. Insurance committee is myself and Mr. Rogers. The policy committee is Mr. Rogers and Mr. Casp. The student handbook committee is myself and Don Rogers. The park board would be Mrs. Hill with Mr. Schultz as the alternate. The student representatives are Mrs. Hill and Mr. Ke. The facilities naming committee is Mr. Schultz and

Mr. and the Hbert Redevelopment Commission belongs to Mr. Schultz. Um, I appreciate those of you that um volunteered and and were just selfless in their decisions and wherever they'd like to choose or wherever they'd like to sit. Next item on the agenda is the recognition of staff members. Dr. Buffington. >> Well, the city has their award now and it's just awards this year from the city of so I thought it would be nice to publicly recognize what's happened award service for those who do not support for us as well and that's being given to none other than Jackie Rogers again. none other than our student extraordinire. >> Thank you. >> Yes. known for a very long time and you are one of the most selfless students that I've ever met and shaking her head and

what you wouldn't do for other kids. You represent us well educ excellence at veterans elementary school. What's really interesting about that is that you know a lot of people see him as the middle school but they don't see that for us and the middle school But on the police side of things, he works in helps out in the detective bureau. He's very good with cyber security. So he has a lot of this is just a whole host of people that we are So incredibly honored to have worked for us. So I want to congratulate them. >> Okay. Congratulations to all of the winners. Two of them sitting here next to us among us. >> Excellent. Congratulations to the two of you and the rest of our um employees. Our next item on the agenda is

non-resident transfer information for the 2627 school year. Dr. Washington transfer policy states have we have to let the public know how many students would be as you know last year we said we would take up 200 students and we students during open enrollment now what's significant about this is just looking that we could go to as we accept open enrollment. So the 70 that came if they're in good standing according to statute which you know you can't have suspended more than 10 days expelled for drugs or alcohol physical altercation or your attendance and so you know those students right now and in should we not have those numbers anybody that fills out an application that seat again wouldn't see ourselves going over 200 >> thank you for that information Dr. And the next item on

our agenda is school information. >> Thank you for that. And the next one is the upcoming activities and events. >> So last night we did the generation academy workshop. Thank you for coming. We really appreciate that Brad and his wife. It was a very interactive session and it was so interactive that we actually didn't finish the book and we're going to do a part two because people host it again and finish the book and add a few other details. But I was really proud of the parents that came. They're genuinely concerned about what they need to do to protect their children from having anxiety. And you know, obviously you're reading a book from an author's perspective with a lot of research in it. And are you allowing your children to be on social media? What's

the appropriate age? What can you do? about even our youngest children having more authents in terms of playern but the goes through many of what's causing our students to be so failure because we don't know came up and was there as well administrators there because we had divided that during our administrative retreat and all different chapters and so I'm really thinking about what we were talking about last night Depuced what you're doing. So, you know, we talked a lot about taking your devices from your children. They're charging in your room. We talked about how you could do your network and have it shut off. We talked about the software that the school provides that you can start and things that started on what she did with her. And so there's tons of people doing the
