I'd like to call this meeting to order. This our regular meeting for the month of February 2026. Please stand and join us in the pledge. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. Uh to everybody here and also everybody watching who's near, we got some bad weather in the area. For everybody in here, from a safety point of view, the basement door is right there. So, I know we've got a few in the audience. keeping an eye on that. So, give you the high side if uh if we uh need to >> take a recess. >> I know I know Melanie will certainly keep an eye on that for

us, right? >> As soon as I say bye, it go right down. >> Thank you. Uh first item on the agenda is recommendation to approve the agenda. And Dr. Williams, I don't believe we have any agenda correctly. >> Correct. So, I'd entertain a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Second. >> I have a motion and a second to approve the agenda as presented. Is there any further discussion? >> Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed. Same sign. >> Eyes have it. Motion carries. Uh moving on to school spotlight and tonight is the uh Van Elementary School. We spot spotlighting their hundreds club and their Viking word club. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah, Mr. Now, I'd like to turn it over to Mrs. and Mrs. K from >> Hi,

thanks for having us. Um, we would just like to highlight um a couple of our um incentives I guess that we're doing for the kiddos um to make learning fun um at Vandine. Um Mrs. Mumal's here with me. She um has created and is in charge and overseeing the Vikings word club. And then Miss um Bailey Bukavitz, she initiated the hundreds club. She went home ill today, so she's not here. I'm going to do my best to explain that to you um from her point of view as well. Um but we just we thought it would be we're trying to bridge gaps right now, of course, but we're hoping if we can continue these things in the future that we will just be building a good foundation for reading and for math. So, we'll just

get into it. Um why is the Vikings word club important? We I took this from a letter and you'll see the letter that Mrs. we all sent home and I'll let her um kind of go into it a little bit more in a minute, but we just wanted the parents to to be on board. We wanted them to help us in their child education. So, this is um a um commitment between parents and school and we're working together with them. So, they're helping us, we're we're helping them at school just to get them involved in their child education as well. Um but basically we just wanted to um to um emphasize the critical importance of reading um in their education and then for them to know that this is the foundation um in grades one

and two. We're starting in I'm sorry grades kindergarten and first is where we started this and we feel that if we build the the skills in K and one that we're building a good foundation for those higher grades even into middle school and high school. Um but this is basically a collaboration between um school and home and hoping that if we work together we can we can build these strong readers. So Mrs. I'll let you take it from here. This is how it started. All right. So I have a parent letter that has gone goes home and it's two pages and it basically explains what automaticity means. Um how when the kids come back they have to be able just to say the word because they're just site words. They're not like some parts can

be sounded out. The sub can't like word said. You can do the S sound and B sound, but you can't. AI never says E. So I that explains all of it step by step to the parents. Um so basically if you see the Viking list one, um I have right now created up to six and I have gone off of the LG in the lightly curriculum that we have and they have 10 words. They have to be able to read them automatically and they have to spell them correctly automatically. And then there's another chart on the bottom. I told parents this is just not like a one time and done thing. They have to be able to do it at least five different times at home. They got to read them five different times. They

got to be able be able to spell them five different times because said one time's not going to be enough. They're supposed to sign and date it. Now, who knows? They just check it off. it, it comes back and then I >> come back again to what we know that they need to do about >> and then what I do at the bottom is I have a guess or no, did they pass? And if they um I circle the words that they did not read correctly, I underline words they didn't spell correctly, I write I write, keep practicing, bring back and try again and I give them a blacking back. So I don't want to discourage them. Um we've had pretty good success. I mean I just told Mrs. Kesler. Today I have two kind

kindergarteners who are competing. Um they're already on list four. I mean they're ahead of even my first graders. That one's my granddaughter. But um they are competing. And so I I take a picture every Friday of any kid in kindergarten or in first grade who has passed at least one list or one, you know, one list. and I'll take the picture and we post it on our social um media site. Um we have also sent home and invited any um second grader like in the bottom 10% those should go with the title to also do the program and then um if they pass they get did you put the picture in there or no >> no if they pass they get >> yeah they get a keychain that says Vikings um work club and they

get a like a bra pack. So each list, so list one, and it's like a star thing laminated, they get hanging on their backpack. It's for every list they get a like a bride tag to put on their backpack. After they do list five, if they complete it, they then get a special um keychain to stick on the backpack. So we're just trying like she said, Mr. professor said, "We only have so much time during the school day and we're hitting the phonics phonics, but these site words like could, should." You can't sound them out and we need help from parents. And so the and I can see the parents are helping them. There's some and these kids where you think, "Oh, the parents are helping them. I didn't know they would do that." And

they are helping them. >> That's amazing. >> And the kids are excited about it. And I mean, even just something as simple as a keychain and a brag tag to hang off of their backpack, it's like bragging rights. So, um, and and of course Rhonda went into the classrooms and she showed all the kids the the really cool keychain and they're like, "I want one of those. I want one of those." And so all you have to do is start with list one. >> So we have and they they she sends home the folder. They bring their green folder back. We put the green folder in in Rhonda's mailbox and she or someone in the title room will go over the list with them. So >> it I mean we've only been doing it for

what, a month maybe since Christmas. A little bit after Christmas, right? >> Well, I think we have two pictures on. since we we didn't have the snow week. So, it would have been three weeks definitely. >> So, and and we have more than this. I just grabbed two two pictures, but yeah, it's going great. >> So, then moving on to the hundreds club. So, um Bailey came to me um end of last school year and she said, "I have an idea um about a hundreds club. I do the hundreds club in my classroom. I think it'd be a great schoolwide initiative." So, she sent she sent me some information on it and I gave her the green light to go for it. Whenever a teacher comes brings me a good idea and they want to

take the reigns, I'm like, I'm for it. Um, so it's I mean, not as much work on me, but um basically it's an we use the IRA program for math and for reading. It's a it's a computerbased um program that is tailored to them. So they take a test at the beginning of the year, diagnostic at the beginning of the year, and then it differentiates the programs and the skill levels to meet their needs. So what we were finding is they were just speeding through these. If they were assigned, they're just speeding through these. If they didn't pass, it's not a big deal. Well, now we're giving them a little bit of an incentive to get 100%. They go slower, they take their time, they actually read through it, and they get some things um

some some things as well. So on the left side you'll see the incentive program that she sent out to teachers just to kind of tell them um about it. Um and then on the right side are the the um tracking sheets that the kids use. Some teachers give their kids stickers to track. Some people give their they just put they give them a little stamp on it. But once they reach um the tens that is when their picture go or their their name on the bulletin board and they join the hundreds the tens whatever club the books are the reading and the stars are the math. Um once they hit that that um 50 50 and 100 they get to choose a prize and we um have bought stuff from the I Ready store. So

they're little plush plushies that go along with the characters and that that they're used to and some pencils just some other things. They also can choose to eat lunch with the teacher, eat lunch with me, um, and do some non-monetary things, too. So, those are our little our fun little things we're doing for learning. You guys have any questions? >> What What grade do they really comprehend 100%. Do they start that first? They >> can level. >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, kindergarten, I mean, taught at their level. They, we're hoping they start to comprehend the things at that point. Um, but we of course, you know, have some that don't, um, that learn at different levels. We have some that come in that are ready. They can really go into first grade. We have some

that come in that haven't even stepped foot in the classroom before. >> So, hoping this helps with that. >> Can't hurt. >> No. >> Well, thank you. >> Thank you, Miss Scler. Mr. M. All right. Uh we'll move on to uh citiz comment. This is first call for citizens comment. If anybody in the audience would be interested in addressing the board, uh this would be your time to do so. Please approach the podium. And you have three minutes for comment. >> Seeing and hearing no citizens comment, we'll close citizens comment and move to first of all consideration of the minutes. Those would include uh the minutes from the annual board of finance that was held on January the 14th, 2026 and the SP special session board of finance meeting and the regular schoolboard meeting held

on January 19th, 2026. Actually, let me let me rest. I think that's a type of >> reorganization. Y so let's try that again. The recommendation is to approve the minutes of the annual reorganization meeting held on January the 14th, 2026, the special session finance meeting held on January the 19th and the regular schoolboard meeting held on January the 19th. And those minutes have been distributed at your seat place for each board member. Uh so I would entertain a motion. Second. >> I have a motion and a second to approve the minutes uh from the board before mentioned meetings. Is there any further discussion? >> Hearing none and all members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. >> Uh next item is vouchers for the month

of February. Dr. Williams. Members of the board, uh, can I ask for your approval for voucher numbers 11333 through 113500? I'd be happy to answer any questions about any expenditures at this time. >> Got the motion down here. You got All right. Got a second here. So, motion by Mr. West, second by Mr. Beersley to approve vouchers 113 3333 through 113500. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes have a motion carries. Uh next item is our rainy day transfer from the end of 2025. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, there's a resolution attached to uh item number 5. B point B on your agenda. This is to transfer $69,49.96 to the rainy day fund from the outstanding appropriations of the 2025

appropriations, excuse me, from the operations fund. Uh fund balance will be uh 347,94819 for the rainy day fund. After this is done, I would ask for your approval of the resolution at this time and then the document will need to sign at the conclusion of the meeting tonight. Make that motion. >> I'll second. >> I have a motion and a second to approve the rainy day fund resolution before you >> as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. >> Moving on. Personnel report for the month of February. Dr. W. >> Yeah. Members of the board, I highlight a few personnel items this evening under resignations, retirements, and terminations. Lisa McMullen, Southland High School English teacher, effective the

effective the end of the school year. Kyle Griffin, Southland Community School Corporation bus driver, effective February 8th, 2026. Christine Thomas, Southland High School cafeteria, effective the end of the school year. Lisa, thank you for your 25 years of service to the corporation. Kyle, thank you for your six years of service. and Chris, thank you for your 20 years of service to the corporation cafeteria. At this time, she will continue to drive a bus for us. Uh, under extended leaves, Caitlyn Laznic, maternity leave effective August August 6th to or about August 5th, 2026. Theresa Mesh, leave of absence from April 6th to April 13, 2026. Under recommendations of hire, uh, Brenda Verzina will be covering a leave of absence at Vand beginning February 2nd and at Central beginning April the 13th. Under ECA hires, Ryan Loose,

South Main High School and varsity volleyball coach the 26 27 school year. Deb Kikin, head varsity girls tennis coach the 2526 school year. Also, several assistant coaches listed for hire this evening for both the 25 26 and 26 27 school years. I would be happy to answer any questions at this time and I'd also ask for your approval of the personnel report at this time. >> So a second I have a motion and a second to approve February's personnel report as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed same sign. Eyes have motion carries. Moving on to the discussion and reports section of tonight's meeting. First of all, curriculum instruction assessment, Dr. Beaver that approach. >> Yeah, because I I couldn't see the top >>

because otherwise that's a good idea. Members of the board, your assessment update um for today. There is a link in the slide deck and so you're able to dive deeper into that if you have any questions about um the IE the new legislation for IE actually began last year but we're seeing um the implementation of all the factors of it this year um which includes testing additional grades that we haven't in the past. So we will still continue to test grade two students um and then if they pass they don't have to take in third grade. Um we will offer summer school um to grade two students and then we are um doing the same for third fourth the grade three students who did not pass in second grade um we'll take it the grade

four students um and so what happens that is unique is to this year is at the middle school no one has administered I read and so for this year Rebecca Kokun our K12 instructional coach will administer that to the students right Now we're just at about three or four students that and that's really a good thing. Um and that can include students who have been homeschooled in the past or attended a non-Indian Indiana third grade. Um so because obviously I is unique to our state. In the past those students were exempt from take if you didn't go to an Indiana school for grade three to take IE then okay well you you didn't have to do it in the future. But it's not the case anymore. We have, like I've told you in the past,

um students in Indiana have the opportunity to take Irene 14 times maximum um before entering seventh grade. So that's where we are with that. This link takes you to a slide deck um that parents received through Parent Square um couple months ago and it really explains the new legislation. It's a slide deck from IDOE geared toward parents uh to help them understand why are we doing this? um the h the high stakes for uh literacy in Indiana and the goal um to be 95% pass rate by 2027 as a state. And this is a slide you have already seen. Um this is just a reminder that we exceeded the state average um for the recent spring administration of Irene. Uh eleas's across Indiana received census data. This is an annual thing. Uh Dr. Williams and

I received this a week ago and we were charged with the task of um analyzing the data they shared and and this is 2024 data. Obviously this is uh but it's two years in a rears because um that they use that it's it's a complete data report at that time and they use those metrics to help define our title one programming dollars. So it's really important that it's accurate. I think I always thought census data as a as a child remembering someone knock on our door to count the people etc. Um I thought how could that be accurate? What if people don't really um what if they don't get to all the houses? Well, obviously all those bullet points are how they um collect that data. The community survey is just the first bullet. They

use federal income tax returns, the nutrition assistance program, the denial census, so the every 10ear census which is significantly more intense and larger. Um so then updates that have been contributed since the 2020 denial and then supplemental social security and um data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. So all that is sent to us and if we feel any non-stistical data is incorrect unfortunately Michael we can't argue math part of it. Um so any of the non-statsbased items that they have there for us meaning uh geographic boundaries um and the way they process the estimation models then we can submit a challenge we have a challenge period so um all districts across the state have a challenge period to say well I think our census data is incorrect because obviously it affects our title dollars

going forward for FY267. Um, so we found no issues with the um, data as presented to us, but I'm just letting you know that we have that opportunity to look at it. Here's kind of what we dialed down um, that are the most salient points of the report and that is our population um, in the age realm of 5 to 17 which are our that's our education zone, right? um that population has increased and the population as a whole of the district has meaning like the population of the district not meaning like our our number of students um has increased and poverty has decreased. Well, that's a wonderful thing. We want poverty to decrease. We want population to increase. Uh but it that that does then have a ripple effect with our title dollars that

we could see a decrease in the future. and we're aware of that and that is um not a surprise to us but again 2024 data impacts um 2627 allocations. Um the next next item in the assessment report is just to remind you about the new math legislation but really three tenants to this math legislation affected um the 2627 school year. We just like we do a K2 dyslexia screener and have for a number of years, we will now do um a math universal screener. That tool has not been our our choices for what to use for that assessment tool. Those those vendors have not been released yet. Obviously significant review period for people to get on the list and then um eleas will then figure out their funding options for that. The second piece um

is the multi tiered systems of support which um we basically say that's our intervention plan. The great thing about South Vermillion is that we have K8 um multi-tered systems of support and we have uh for a number of years. This the the the pinch for most districts in the state of Indiana is that it's not a model that exists in a lot of schools beyond elementary. just hard when you have class periods to go back and meet with those kids again and put them in small groups and give them exactly it's hard to find time in the schedule. Um but we've already embedded that in the schedule at the middle school and we'll be going into year three when the state says it's year one starting in August. So we're pretty confident about that. Um

the department of ed has released training courses for teachers to take to understand the difference between tier 2 and three interventions. So, um we are thankful that that highly um we're thankful for the support and that our teachers can have so they know um that it's kind of like um kind of reassuring that we know we're doing the right thing. And then the third piece is auto enroll in math. So if a student gets a doesn't say really pass plus anymore but above proficiency in the math I learn for grade when they're in grade five, six or seven then when they go into grade six, seven or eight they're autoenrolled in advanced math. It's been the opposite. We choose if we want them to enroll and um it's not been a force it's not been

a requirement. So parents can opt out. And the interesting thing about this is since 2026, this is the first year for the 2023 standards to be on the iLearn. Okay. So what we won't be doing is comparing our 2026 I learn assessment data to last year's assessment data. It's a different test. Uh so the the pendulum swings, right? Or the target moves, I guess. So, what that means is we're to schedule students and this is a conundrum across the state. So, we're to schedule students um and autoenroll in advanced math based on the iLearn from the spring of 26. And since there are new standards, you have to have a period of standard setting to get the scale score. So, those won't be released until September. We're already in school month. Thanks for that. Uh

good thing is we are allowed to triangulate some data to identify the kids that we're pretty sure will be autoenrolled meaning we can look at classroom performance. We can look at formative assessments and then we can look at past iLearn although it's not the same test. I met with Joanie Mlan and Christine Cra and they're pretty confident aside from maybe five to six students at each grade level should this be that class or this class. So, it's not as unfortunate at first look to have to autoenroll based on test scores and school starts early August. The scores aren't out there. I don't have to laugh or you cry. So, then the assessments outlook. We did just finish I learn checkpoint two. Um, and I'll be sharing that data at next month's meeting that it won't

be a comparison between checkpoint one and two. They assess different standards, but it is it will it is interesting. I and looking forward to sharing with you the um intervention model that uh all three schools who test iLearn um are in are deploying. Very impressive. Uh tomorrow I'll finish our last English language learner assessment. That's an annual reada assessment. Um and foreign exchange students are included in that. These are the assessments coming up. First up is the I read assessment and then SAT for our 11th graders checkpoint three. And that's the last of the three checkpoints. And then April 14th, we that's the summitative for and this is the data I will share at the March presentation. And Steve Baker um a statewide speaker on the new accountability rule will be coming to our PD

next Wednesday morning for an all district presentation to all of our teachers on the accountability rule, school letter grades, how that looks, how it's being formulated. Um, and it'll be pretty it'll be pretty eye opening and but also IDE has not finalized that yet. So, we're getting a school letter grade this year and so the planes in the air that's not built yet. That's kind of the theme. Any questions? >> Yeah. March 4th is the next state board of ed meeting and they are confident it'll be finalized then. Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you, Dr. Beaver. Next up, informationational technology, Mrs. Foster. >> Members of the board, I am going to share with you some information from our count day. We just had February 2nd. It's our second count day of the school year for

membership. Uh it is a funding count. And I did a little bit of comparison uh from the fall to fall membership uh from 24 to 25. There really weren't uh significant uh changes, but there was a net change, a drop of 38 students. I've got that divided out um by school. And also in your board packet, I gave you lots of breakdowns um and comparisons between 24 and 25. uh largest uh cash transfers that we have are at the middle school where we saw a gain of five uh cash transfer students at the middle school an actual decrease of two cash transfers at the high school but um at each school uh we did have a drop in students with the exception of Vany uh we had an increase however that increase is most likely

due to the transfer of the functional program program from Central to um to Vanine. Also, we had um students transfer from Central to Vanine for the high ability program. I believe that was a total of 12 students that transferred uh for for those two programs. For spring comparison from spring 25 last year to spring uh this year, February, uh we had just a net change of 19 students. So, not quite as significant of the comparison between the fall counts. Um, looking at each school again, you'll see Van Dy had the increase, but again, the increase again due to the um change in the programs between the two buildings. Uh, but at all the other schools, you'll see um not a significant decrease, but but a decrease. Again, largest one you'll see there is at Central

again because of that program change though. And then you have your cash transfers. Uh they have decreased. Um middle school is at 30. Uh the high school went from 37 to 33 cash transfers. If you look at the enrollment, this was pulling uh data from all students who enrolled with the exception of new kindergarten students, but anybody who came to South Bermillion this year. I've been tracking those since the beginning of the school year. You can see uh those are the categories that I kind of uh put students into uh that that enrolled this year. You can see that number of new enrollments at Vandine is 18. 12 of those are the program enrollments. The middle school had a significant uh enrollment from Viggo County at 14. The high school had 18 students who came

from online schools. I would imagine most of those are reenrollments, but you can see a total of 29 students came from online school across the district. And then the middle school was the uh school with the highest number of new enrollments at 51 for the school year. As far as withdrawals, um that number again with the asterk for central again because of the 12 students who left to go to high ability or through the functional program. Um we had 20 students total across the district who left to go to VO County. We had 26 students who left us to go to online school. So that online school to and from is pretty much a wash. Uh but a total of 37 students across the district left us to go to online school. And then as

far as students who are leaving us to go to home school, Central had a total of eight students uh who opted to withdraw and go to home school. So if you look at that enrollment number 168 and then the withdrawal number 162 um you can see and again that doesn't include all of the new kindergarten enrollments and and new preschool students who come to us. So so they are very close. As far as mobility trends, I did use AI to help me analyze our data. And I actually found two mistakes that the um that the system spit out as far as the totals and caught those. So I asked AI to correct those, but did look at some of the narrative that it did provide. And again, it's nothing that we don't already know. Each

year, our enrollment continues to decline, but we're right in alignment with the national um loss of students to public education sitting at about 2.5% since COVID. That tends to be the trend and a lot of that uh is students who are leaving to go to home school, private school or to online school. And um based on what you saw with our numbers of enrollments and withdrawals, they are pretty much balanced with a slight negative number. Um most of our students are transferring uh nearby uh to other schools. Sorry, didn't mean to hit that button. And then we do have that alternative pathways increasing for students who are going online or to homeschool. We did have eight students who withdrew uh at the middle of the year as they graduated and again it's picking up that

um increase with Vandine uh again but that is because of the programs but if not for those programs their enrollment would have shown a decline also as well that um in a nutshell is everything that I had as far as the enrollment like I said there's nothing really telling in in that data. Um, the last thing that I wanted to share that's super bright on the screen, we went from black and gold to changing to Melanie's comic strip. Uh, this is a this is a joint effort. Um, Mrs. Foster has been leading a group of us to schedule a digital safety event for our parents and for the community. We have that tenatively scheduled for April 28th. It's an evening again just for adults, not for our students. Mrs. Foster is writing a grant to

the community foundation to help get secure funding for meals for those who attend for door prizes. Um we have Angie Han from the state police. She's sexual crimes division >> Detective um who we've been meeting with. uh she will be our featured speaker that night that will talk to parents. Um and as I said unfiltered here at the top it will be unfiltered and she will be sharing um I mean it it what word am I looking for? graphic, >> graphic, unfiltered. I mean, she's going to share what parents need to hear about what their students or their children may be doing when they're online, whether it be on a video game console, on their phone, on their computer, uh, however they're communicating with with other people online, but she's going to I think it's

timely. I think we need it. Um, we're also going to have Angie come and do convocations with our middle school and our high school students. uh we're going to divide that up because of the sensitive nature and we don't want the high school students hearing the same or the middle school students hearing what our high school students are hearing. So she it looks like we'll do a 56 session, a 78 session and then a high school session where she'll talk to those students and we're still in the planning stages for that. Melanie designed a poster contest for our students so that they can be involved in this as well. We'll have prizes for the uh winners. Who did we say is going to pick the winners on those? >> Four community members. >> We're working

on getting four community members who will judge >> married to staff or whatever. >> Yes. Who will judge the uh posters. We'll have those posted. We'll also have um other community organizations such as Suz's Place, DCS, the prosecutor's office, and so forth. So, we have a lot of different organizations that are going to have tables set up and uh provide resources for parents as well. And our hope is that we can follow up with this because I see parents will be saying how now what do I do or how do I >> how do I make sure my students or my children are safe? And so that's would be the next step is we can help provide those resources to our parents. So that's coming. >> Any questions? >> Thank you. >> All right. Next

item is our student services report for the month of February. Mrs. Foster. >> So at your seats, you have the updated expendituration. So that's updated as of February 13th last Friday. So that is there for your review. Um, if you would like, do you want me to do a comparison for the month before and the next time that I do give you the update for you guys to hold on to the month before? >> Uh, put the trends will be nice. >> Okay, absolutely. >> So, that information is there. You can see we're doing fairly well with our attendance. So, very pleased with that as well. It's going to be very, very important as we move forward this accountability with the state. So, bear with us. that will be a huge part. Also at your

place setting is a Bian County Emergency Personnel Openhouse South. We are hosting um an emergency personnel open house. We are working with emergency management um Jimmy Miller um to get that information out as well. Today Jason and I took um some local the fire departments, Black Diamond, Clinton City, and Fair View. We did a preliminary walk through of the high school and the middle school prior to this. Um, identifying the shut offs, but also identifying key areas within the building, science wing, science area, any possible chemicals in the building. Also the location of the nurs's office because if we have emergency situation, they may need to get into our nurs's offices to get some supplies. So just it's not just for fire, it's for all emergency personnel, sheriff, EMS, um fire. So I'm using um

Jimmy Miller to share out that invitation. Again, it's going to be a very quick walk through with a follow through with that will be that the fire departments will get with each building to work with administration with fire drills as well. And then if we see the need to have another um just like EMS coming and working with us then we can set that up as well. So we'll have contact with each of those agencies after this walk through >> and your board members you're welcome to join us as well. It's not exclusively only for emergency personnel but we're open >> March 5th. Yeah. >> Excellent. >> Any other questions? Very good. Thank you, Mrs. Foster. Uh, moving on to facilities for February, Mr. Zuka. Okay, good evening. Um, got just a few quick updates

um on some projects we've got going on um and some projects that might be upcoming. So the big thing is the children of middle school. It has arrived. It is in place. Um Sycamore is working on installation. They hope to be done by the second week of Marshall to have the system up and operational right by other firms. Um so I know everybody knows will be nice and happy once once that's up and um and so far has been running. So um the hot water at the high school, the new boilers have been up and running. Um they've had to come back and do a few adjustments here and there, but the next stage will be slightly low height. So I look for that to happen here within the next week or two and then

that project to be finalized and done. Um an upcoming project uh will be the sound system. I know that was a big pain point last year now at the football field track equipment has been ordered and we will be taking care of that within hopefully the next couple weeks depending on equipment availability how fast it can get here. Um but I'll be demoing the old system and putting a new system. So >> by track by track season anyway. >> Yeah. Hopefully I get it in sooner than later but I'm kind of there's one or two pieces of equipment that could be on back order. So I'm kind of hinged on that. Going to try to push a little bit. you can get here soon enough. Um, and then a project that we just finished up,

it's kind of a smaller project. Next time you're at the high school, you'll notice as you walk into the front door, Mrs. Skinner along with Re Grant, um, we put a big wall in the high school now where there was a big bulletin board when we walked in that has since been removed and now we have four 65 in displays there that act as one big key. Um, so she'll be displaying information on that forum courses and things like that throughout high school. So can't miss it if you're walking in the front doors. It's nice and bright. They greet you as soon as you walk in the door. So that's all I have for tonight. If you guys any questions, I'm more than happy to answer. >> Anything for Mr. Zukin? >> No. >> Thank

you. >> All right. And final item under discussion and reports is the high school band choir Nashville trip proposal. >> Dr. Williams, you want to introduce? >> So Mr. Anderson from our band is here tonight to have a proposal for spring break of 2027. Correct. >> Good. We're getting ahead of ahead of >> Yes. Oh, yes. So this is first time being here since I started back in January. Welcome. >> Things are going very well. >> You're doing a good job. >> Thank you. Appreciate that. Yeah. Um, so we are looking to try to build excitement for our music program, not just band, but also on the choir side. And one way that we can do that is by having a trip for students. Our goal was to have about 50 students. I think taking

one bus will take 53. We did some surveys. On the band side, we had 16 students interested. On the choir side, we have 25 students interested. So, this totals to about 42, which is the perfect number for us to take on the trip. Uh, we met with a music travel consultant to kind of design how we're going to go about this trip. And we discussed a few different uh opportunities, but we settled on a two-me trip that will take place from Monday, March 22nd to the 24th. This will allow performance opportunities for both choir to perform at the Grand Opry um as well as the band to perform just outside the country music hall of fame, right? Um there will also be uh a lot of touring uh sites that we'll visit throughout downtown Nashville

and we'll try to keep it nice and cheap. Uh usually these trips usually run around about $1,000. We got this to just under $900. um they will be paying basically monthly. So the display that they have right now is $70 a month. Students can also fund raise to get that price down. They can go for free if they don't raise the entire amount. Um and we're going to be looking into fundraising opportunities for as well so we can try to get the best um experience for our students. If there's any questions, I'll try my best to answer it. We're still trying to figure out a little bit more logistics. But >> how many days did you say trip? It'll be a three-day trip to Max. >> Any other questions? >> Charge. >> We hope to

>> have, you know, once it's finalized, we're going back for approval. >> Exactly. >> Welcome. Thank you. >> All right. Let's move on to the decision portion of tonight's agenda. And the first item is our SP gives back donation for the month of February. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, this month we are giving back to Kidare. And as always, we appreciate our staff and students at all of our schools participating typically once a month and a give back day. Um and the check this evening is for $59.35. Um to date we are just under $15,000 for the SV gives back program in about two and a half years or so. So we are aiming for 15,000 next month. Um but u again we appreciate partnerships we have and how much they give

to our students throughout the year. So this is the least we can do. Um and so I'd ask for your approval at this time and then we'll have recess for check presentation. >> I'll second. I have a motion, a second to approve the uh SV give back recommendation donation for the month of February as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. Those oppos same time sign. I motion carries and we stand in recess. many many years ago. I got a call from >> Thank you. >> Can't remember name, >> but she came to me with I got an idea. And I said, "Well, come on over." We sat on my front porch. And she went through her idea, which was this. And she said, "I don't know

what to do. Where do I go? What's next?" And I sent her to young Henry at me and he helped her put the charter and everything together. And there it is. That's been many, many years, and it's been very successful. But uh that was given birth on my my front door. >> Yeah, we are for a good >> for sure. >> All right. Uh let's move on. Elementary transfer request for the month of February. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, there's just a couple of student transfer requests for the 2526 school year attached to item 7 on your agenda. ask for your approval at this time. >> So move. >> I'll second. >> Have a motion and second to approve the elementary transfer request as presented. Is there any further discussion? Hearing none.

All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed at the same time. I have a motion carries. Next item, donations for February. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, recommendation to approve 10 donations listed on item C in your agenda. Donations total $2,475.75 across our buildings. I would ask for approval at this time. And as always, we appreciate the team support. >> Mr. Wes, you got all motion, Mr. Second, Mr. West. How about that? Uh, any further discussion? All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed, same signed. Eyes have it. Motion carries. All right, moving on. Several field trips here of February. >> Dr. Williams, members of board, there's seven field trips listed for approval this evening. grief with the dance team to Center Grove High

School to Jasper or Lake Central High School to defeat the tournament later date and to Indianapolis a trip with the robotics team to Van Beern Elementary Junior Optimus from Central to the Parker Humane Society and the middle school academic Super Bowl team to Sarah Scott. I would ask for approval at this time. So >> second motion and second to approve the field trips as presented. Any further discussion? >> Hearing none. All members in favor signify I by saying >> I. Those opposed. Same sign. I have a motion carries. Moving on. Twoour delay e-learning PTO. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, as we put this new policy in in December, uh for staff members that are hourly to be paid uh for days affected by delays and e-learning days, I have listed the dates

in accordance with the policy of the delays and e-learning days since the policy has been implemented and it's an attachment 7E for your approve for you to approve the PTO this evening. I've asked for that at this time. So, I'll second. I have a motion and a second to approve the two-hour delaying PTO uh days as presented. Any further discussion? >> Those those will be stapled to the state counter for payroll. Just so you understand that you won't see them in the audion, questions hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed, same sign, eyes have. Motion carries. Moving on. Surplus items for the month of February. >> And members of the board, there's a few items this evening all for South High School. A few outdated wooden bases

for robotics competition, outdated science textbooks, and piece of furniture from the graphic design lab. Ask for your approval of surplus at this time. So second motion by Mr. Sison, second by Mr. Governor >> to approve the surplus items as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. Those opposed same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. All right, that concludes our regular portion of tonight's agenda and uh we will move on to citizens comment. This will be the last portion of our last opportunity tonight for anybody in the audience to address the board before we journ. Uh if you like to address the board, please approach the podium. And seeing hearing no Simpsons comments, we'll close Simpson's comments and conclude with first Dr. Williams comments and then board member comments.

>> Members of the board like to again congratulate Alicia Gwyn on advancing to the state finals and representing SBCS really well at the state finals. Um we'd also like to congratulate Brady Nickel on his advance to the semi-state in wrestling this past weekend. Also like to congratulate Aiden Lacy on receiving Lily scholarship for Vermillion County and Juan Matz and Heather Scott both teachers at the high school on their teaching Lily fellowship grants. >> Oh wow. >> So congratulations to all >> and hopefully this weather break soon. >> Thank you Dr. colleagues.

All right, let's start down again, Mr. West. >> Oh, thank you. Uh, congratulations to everyone that you just mentioned. U, it's pretty tough to get to that level. Uh, a lot of people don't understand how good those kids are to get to the state and to get in those doors. That's quite an accomplishment. How hard they work. >> Yeah, exactly. And uh our staff got recognized. That doesn't come easy either. Uh want to remind everyone about the dance competition this week, weekend, Saturday, coming up quick. Um there'll be 21 schools and 51 dances performances. Uh it it is really will be packed. It'll be exciting. And uh it is only one of two that's being held this weekend throughout the state. So either you're here or you're in I think maybe Crown Point. So uh

yeah, come out and see the kids dance. It's going to be a good time. >> Thank you. >> Excellent. Thank you, Mr. West. Mr. Ger, >> I just like to thank all presenters this evening. It's great to see us challenging parents to also, you know, do their parenting and also giving those students those incentives levels. So, great job there. Just a lot of good information tonight from all the presenters really, you know, from the remember the sound system of the the football field of the anthem that night. So that's always good to see that that's taken care of. But now just thank everybody for present. >> Thank you Mr. Governor and Mrs. Staylor.
