001[clears throat] I'd like to call this meeting to order. It's our reorganizational meeting for 2026. Please stand and join us in the pledge. I >> pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. Uh before we get started, uh one item is this is a reorganizational meeting. It is set forth in Indiana code each year for us to reorganize the board. I actually had somebody in the community reach out to me last week and saw it posted like what are you doing to the school corporation? What are you reorganizing in the school corporation? Uh but no, this is a yearly meeting that we have. uh it's to be conducted in the

002first 15 days of the year each each year to just reorganize the board and uh you know we it's been our past practice for as long as I can remember. So uh just wanted to uh to draw that to everybody's attention. Uh so first item is recommendation to approve the agenda. Uh I don't believe we have any agenda. So uh correct me Dr. Williams. >> Yeah no agenda. So I would recommend we approve the agenda as presented. So move. >> I'll second. >> I have a motion and second to approve the agenda as presented. >> Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. Oppose. Same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Uh next item is citizens comment period. Uh but seeing we have nobody attending for the uh no

003citizens attending this evening, I'm going to close citizens comment and move on. Uh next item is board officers for 2026. Uh just to remind everybody the process here is uh we'll open the floor for nominations. Nominations require a second. Uh when there's no further nominations, we'll ask for a motion to close nominations. uh we'll take the vote on the closing the nominations and then ultimately vote on uh the uh the parties that have been nominated. Uh so uh first off, I'd open up uh the floor for nominations for board president in 2026. >> I'd like to nominate JP >> Re. Yeah, you uh so I have a nomination for JP Reman and it's been seconded. Any further nominations hearing? None. I'd uh entertain a motion to close nominations. So move. >> I'll second. >> I

004have a motion and a second to close nominations for board president 2026. All the members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. >> I have it. Motion carries. And now all members in favor of JP Ring for board president in 2026 signify by saying I. >> I. I vote. Any opposed? I have. Thank you very much. >> You're welcome. >> Thank you. >> Much appreciated. >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. And we're planning on a good year. Uh, next item is election of board vice president for 2026. Uh, entertain nominations. Well, I'll nominate Kelly. >> I'll second it. >> I have a nomination, a second for Kelly Hill for board vice president. Any other further nominations? >> Hearing none, I'd entertain a motion to close. >> Am I allowed

005to second that? >> Yeah, you can. I'll second. I >> have a motion, a second to close nominations for board vice president for 2026. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed, same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. So, all members in favor of Kelly Hill serving as vice president 2026 signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. >> Eyes have it. Congratulations, Kelly. >> Thank you. >> And moving on to board secretary for 2026. Uh, I entertain nominations. W [clears throat] I'll nominate John Bley. >> I'll second. >> I have a nomination and a second for John Beardsley to serve as board secretary for 2026. Any further nominations? >> Hearing none. I entertain a motion to close nominations. So move. >> Oh. >> I have a motion

006and a second to close nominations for board secretary 2026. All members in favor say I. I. Those opposed same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. And now all members in favor of John Beardsley for board secretary 2026 signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Congratulations, Mr. Secretary. >> Thank you. >> All right. That concludes uh election of officers 2026. We'll move on to appointment of board legislative liaison for 2026 and um Bruce had reached out to me and normally this is not a position that people uh advocate for but Bruce had reached out to me uh expressing an interest. So um I put that on the table for members consideration. >> I'll make the nomination for >> Bruce. Thank you. >> I got a motion and

007a second to appoint Bruce West as the board's legislative liaison for 2026. Any further discussion? >> Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Okay. Next item is a resolution for the establishment of board salary for 2026. And um this is a little bit different than we've done in the past. Uh we got uh a notification from ISBA in late uh late fall last year um when they were doing some of they they routinely send us things that we need to just clean up and board uh just board governance and so on. And uh they'd indicate that a lot of boards were not doing setting board compensation correctly. It's to be done by uh a resolution formalized by a resolution rather than

008just a motion from the floor, which is how we've kind of handled it for the last uh as far as I remember. Uh so we're just kind of cleaning this up with good governance uh kind of at ISBA's um kind of suggestion. Uh so this uh resolution before you calls for the board salary being set at uh $2,000 uh dollars per year, which uh our board salary has been that for many, many years, uh probably going back 20 plus years. Uh and also a predium of $150 for regular meetings and $75 for special meetings. And uh the resolution does state that we would cap that the special meetings at a maximum of two meetings uh per year. Um that is the resolution before you. Uh I'd entertain a motion to approve such resolution. >> Second.

009>> Yeah, two per month. >> I was >> Yeah, thank you. Misspoke uh you still good with that, Mr. Yes, sir. >> Okay. I have a motion to have a second. >> Second. >> I have a motion, a second to approve the resolution setting board of salary 2026. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed, same sign. Eyes have. Motion carries. [snorts] Okay. Each year we are required as part of this reorganizational meeting to adopt a code of ethics. Um I'm not I don't know the board in the state of Indiana that does not use the ISBA code of ethics. We've used it uh here again probably 20ome plus years. Um I would make that uh I would I would ask that some that a

010motion is made to adopt the ISBA code of ethics for 2026. >> So move second. A motion, a second to adopt the ISBA code of ethics for 20 for the board for 2026. Any further discussion? Hearing none, all members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed, same sign. >> Eyes have it. Motion carries. Okay. Next item is our yearly appointment of the business manager/corporation treasurer and the assistant treasur/corporation secretary for 2026. The business manager and corporation treasurer Stephanie Ferington decision to treasure corporation secretary is Sarah Shannon. So >> move second. >> I have I got a motion and a second to approve the appointment of Stephanie Farington as business manager corporation treasure and Sarah Shaman as assistant treasur corporation secretary for 2026. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify

011by saying I. I. Those opposed. Same sign. I have a motion carries. Moving on. Uh we have the establishment of board meetings for 2026 and um this year due to certain uh routinely our uh for here again uh our past practice for probably going on uh se at least 20 years has been to meet on the third Monday. Uh however I think in this year we've got several conflicts of those right. Uh so um I don't know uh Dr. Williams, why don't you just tick through the dates real quickly that that we have for 2026? >> U 2026 regular school board meeting dates. Uh I would ask the following uh be considered to be approved. Monday, January 19th, Thursday, February 19th, Thursday, March 26th, Monday, April 20th. Tuesday, May 26th. Thursday, June 11th. Thursday, July

01216th. Monday, August 17th. Monday, September 21st. Thursday, October 22nd. Monday, November 23rd, and Monday, December the 14th. >> Thank you, Dr. Williams. And uh you know honestly uh sometimes occasions rise uh after these are adopted and we will notice those meetings as uh as required. Uh but uh this is our current plan for meeting dates in 2026. Uh and there has been some board discussion about uh changing the meeting time. Uh for for a few for the last handful of years at least, we've been meeting at 6:30 p.m. Uh I know there is there's been some discussion among the board of perhaps uh setting 6:00 as the meeting time for 2026. So I'll just uh I'll kind of put that on the table and see what board members think about it. I'd like to make

013a motion to change from 6:30 to 6 on a regular meeting. >> I'll second >> and adopt these dates as well. >> And adopt these days. >> So, would you guys want to go sooner as you want to do 5:30? Would that be better for everybody? I mean, don't don't do it later on account, but >> I didn't say 5:30 or 5. That's fine, too. Whatever works for >> what works for your stats. No, >> I mean I'm good with uh earlier, but I want to make sure more members have a chance to get here based on their schedules as well. >> I mean, >> I think we do uh we do want to make sure that we we balance the ability of folks, the public to be able to attend as well. So 5:30

014starts to make it tight for people with work schedules and >> things like I I suggest >> I suggest kind of like what we did. I remember when we moved to 6:30 kind of this all how it kind of worked out. I'd say if you want to let's set six and then >> we can always tweak it from there in the future. >> Okay, >> that works. >> All right, so motion is on the table uh to set these dates in 6 6 p.m. for 2026. Uh any further discussion hearing? None. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. Those opposed? Same. Senate. Eyes have motion carries. Uh, next item is yearly we we uh appoint a school board corporation attorney for 2026. Uh, Gary Hanner has done that for several years and we

015recommend that we retain Gary Hanner. So >> I have a motion and a second to uh appoint Gary Hanner school board corporation attorney for 2026. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Uh next item is the appointment of committee to open bids for 2026. And typically that's the superintendent and business manager. And that would be my recommendation to continue that practice. >> Do we know these people? >> Scary. [clears throat] >> So move. >> I'll second. >> I have a motion to second to appoint the superintendent business manager as the committee to open bids on behalf of the board for 2026. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. Those opposed,

016same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Well, that concludes the uh requirements to reorganize the board for 2026. Uh we did have citizens comment period, but again, nobody uh from uh from those citizens who showed up to attend tonight. So, uh we will close some comment period and conclude with Dr. Williams comments and board members comments if any >> Williams. >> Yeah, a couple things here real quick. I'll get the calendar invite sent out tomorrow uh with the dates on them uh for the year. I'll get it sent out to the corporation and posted on the website as well as the organization information of uh board officers and legislative uh leaons. Um and as far as that goes, we're off to a good start in 2026 and we'll see you Monday evening for the regular

017schedule board meeting. What time? >> Very good. >> 6. >> Very good. Just checking. Right. Um, okay. Well, uh, Mr. West, you got anything before we turn? >> Let's have a good year. >> Very good. Mrs. Taylor, >> I'm good tonight. See everybody Monday. >> You bet. Have a good year. >> Mrs. Hill, Mr. Who's yours? >> You better wait. Yep. Exactly. >> All right.
