I'd like to call to order. This is our regular meeting for the month of December 2025. Please stand and join us in the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, [clears throat] indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. First item this evening is recommendation to approve the [clears throat] agenda. We do not have any agenda. So I would entertain a motion to approve the to approve the agenda as presented. So I'll move. >> I'll second. >> I have a motion of second to approve the agenda as presented. Is there any further discussion? Hearing none. Members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed. Same side. Eyes have a motion carries. Moving on to
school spotlight. Uh we intended to have the Wildcat Den here this evening with Mrs. bleach, but uh due to the uh e-learning today and the weather and such, we will postpone that to do that in January. Mr. Wood or Dr. >> uh we'll push back to January and then move the whole second semester back. >> Very good. Okay. So, moving on. Citizens comments. This is the first call for citizens comment. If anybody would like to address the board um this evening, uh now will be your first chance to do so. If you're interested in addressing more, please stand up to the podium and state your name for the record. Hearing and seeing no comments, we'll close citizens comment period and begin first on consideration of the minutes. Those are the minutes of the regular board
meeting held on November 17th, and the executive session held on December 1st, 2025. >> [snorts] >> I have a motion to approve the minutes as presented for both. I'll second. I have a motion second to approve the minutes as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing [clears throat] none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed same sign. >> I have a motion carries. Uh moving on to finances for the month of December. First of all, vouchers. Dr. Williams. Members of the board, I'd ask that you consider approving vouchers 11300 0 through 113159 this evening. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them at this time. >> Any questions about the vouchers? Otherwise, would entertain a motion. So, I'll second. >> I have a motion second to approve vouchers 11300
through 113159. There any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. I have a motion carries. Moving on. Personnel report for the month of December. Dr. Williams. >> Yes. Members of the board under resignations, retirements, and leaves and terminations. Miss Jackie Roberts, South High School English teacher. Resignation effective December 19th, 2025. and Miss Amanda Allen, Vanine Elementary Counselor, resignation effective December 19th, 2025. Under recommendations for hire, uh, Mr. Mark Harper, South High School English teacher effective January 5th, 2026 and the involuntary transfer of Miss Rebecca Smith to the full-time counselor position at Vandine Elementary effective December 15th, 2025. Under non-certified recommendations, I would like to highlight the following recommendations. Tracy Carval as a school nurse for Central Elementary that affected the 26 27th school year
and Chrissy White as the director of nursing services that affected the 26 27th school year in addition to her duties [snorts] at the middle school. I'd ask for your approval at this time. >> I'll make that motion. >> I have a motion and second to approve December's personnel report as presented. Is there any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes out. Motion carries. >> All right. Moving on to discussion reports for the month of December. First of all, curriculum instruction assessment. Dr. Bieber. >> Members of the board. I wanted to share with you um the focus of tonight's data presentation is the Indiana's um school accountability model. >> At this meeting today, it was supposed to be final the final rule. Um state
board of ed had their meeting December 10th um and then it was supposed because supposed to be law by um December 31st um legislation wise. However, there was some kind of glitch with the Indiana Department of Ed's um second uh public comment job form. So, they had to open up a third public comment window that lasts until the end of the first week of January. So, um I'm giving you access to provide um I mean, everyone has access to provide that third round of public comment. Um, and we are not sure if everything that was shared, for example, if someone shared something during the second public comment, if that is gone or um or if they have that and not really sure what the details of the glitch um what the details were, but um
it is not a final rule at this point. So, I'm unable to tell you um the the factual like this is official and final, but I can share with you the draft obviously. Um, and that was our notification that we received um a week and a half ago saying that there was an issue. And so you have this copy of this um slide deck. So you can click there to provide your comment and they do um take comment into consideration. I'd be happy to share you with you um later or if we wanted to talk later what my my comments are and what I think u needs changed. Um but most important I wanted to share this graphic. Um we will basically when when I talk about K12 accountability um rule for Indiana that just
basically means three um words. School letter grades. School letter grades are coming back. We haven't had school letter grades since 2019 and they were um very different at that time. This time it's going to be much more than just one assessment score. Um and also this graphic shows the areas that will have um a school letter grade or will represent um the compilation of their school's letter grade. K2 has no figuring factors. Um so that would be interesting. For example, if we had a K2 school, they would take the letter grade of the grade three. Um so grade three, K through three receives a grade, but only grade three students figure into that. I'll explain that again in a bit. You can kind of liken that to a builder showing off a house that he
built when he drives someone by um the house and says, "Look at this house I built." And they say, "Wow, that's that's a very beautiful house." Or showing that house over time. Look at this house that has stood so solid for many years. Wow, that's a beautiful house. I can see the first floor, the second floor, the top floor. What you can never see from the curb is the foundation. But if that foundation is not good, like the home on the right, the rest of the house over time will indeed crumble. That's kind of how I envision um the whole philosophy behind not having a K2 grade that they're building our foundation and then their grade will come when those students become third graders. Um what's also interesting to make sure our our state uh
citizens are aware of is that we get a letter grade for this school year. And this rule isn't even final yet, but we will have a letter grade at grades um K3, 48, 910, and 112. The 910 grade and the 1112 grade will be averaged to make up the high school grade. Uh but we and also that grade won't come out until December of 2026. Um so that spend a little uh time explaining why K2 is not um assessed >> or not receiving a letter grade. >> Is there a uh is there an overall corporation grade as well like there used to be in the old >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Um so um grades K through three used to only be assessed on the left side the academic mastery. Now they will be u
they will also have these points figured in on the right hand side. So, you have this paper in front of you, and I've just pulled pieces of it apart to break it up into the gray bands. Um, and this is, um, a lot of people say that first paper in your packet, the black and white one stapled on top, is the main showboat to explain the letter grades, but I think it's this one. Um, because this very clearly explains what will be um, used to come up with each student's grade. Each student has a grade um in English and math and that's average and then it goes in to represent their grade band and their school. So on this slide I've just taken apart that right hand side of the K3. So see on the
previous slide that right hand side it's right here at the top and then outlined it down below to explain the success indicators that students can earn additional points for. So um they can I I should say that passing I read is everything. Dr. Jenner believes two things are the most important for our K12 school systems and that is passing I read and the diplomacy. Those are critical and you will see that come through in this rule. This is um kind of like a report card. And this this is how each student will have this page twice. So you picture that box, that blank box in the top leftand corner. Picture a student's name there and then ELA. Then that child will have this same page, their name will be there and then it will say
math. The left hand side where it says at or above proficiency, approaching and below, that's their grade on iLearn. And then they continue across slide to the right. If they pass, I read. And then if they achieve additional success indicators that are outlined all on the right hand side of this favorite page here. To make it a little bit clear, I wanted to um introduce you to William Wildcat. William Wildcat. Um I I just wanted to show you this is a snapshot of one student um pretend and to show you how the grade would be figured. So on the third grade I learn for ELA, William scored approaching proficiency. So you see the red arrow next to the yellow um row there. He did not pass I read when it was given in grade two.
Remember he's a third grader now, but he did pass it in grade three. So he gets a he gets the additional points in the middle column because now that he's in third grade at the end of the year. Okay. Did he pass I read again? I mean when he was given it again? Yes. So he gets an additional point value. He gets to move to the right hand column because he passed I read after not passing it in grade two. Interesting. If he would have passed in in grade two and he doesn't have any success indicators like maybe he doesn't have good attendance then he stays in that middle column. So now let's look at William Wildcat for math and that is not a typo. We are going to measure William again for passing I
read in math. So, let's say on the um I learn grade three math assessment, he scored below proficiency. In a previous um school letter grade era, that's an F. He gives his grade an F. Done. No points. Now, he can have zero points for being at below for being below proficiency on I learn. But did he pass I read? He sure did in third grade. Not in second grade, though, remember? So, he gets even more of a benefit. He gets both of those columns. He moves up and he gets 75. So, uh, final statement about Williams report card grade that he I don't I don't mean to say report card grade. I keep trying to get myself not to say that. Accountability grade. William's accountability grade is an A in English and a C in
math. That gets figured into his school's grade three letter grade. Um, and previously he would only be he would only get a um grade for I learn English and I learn math. And if he didn't pass it, approaching proficiency is not passing. So he would not have gotten any he would have gotten an F for both English and math for his school in a previous um era of school letter grades. Um, and we can you can picture it like a typical grading scale 60 70 80 90 D CB A. Now I'm going to change a script a little bit. The next slide is an example the same student but we're going to change his story a little bit. He scored the exact same on the ILR approaching for English and below proficiency for math. But
William did not pass I read when it was given twice. You can you take it during the live window and then I mean the spring window and then during the summer retest. He did not pass it in second grade and he did not pass it the three opportunities he has to take it in third grade. There are two times during the summer window. So he just did not pass I read. He's going to continue taking I read. Remember I said last board meeting total of 14 times in the state of Indiana if he stays in an Indiana school grades 2 through six the summer of six after six. So William does not get points any other spot. So he ends with 65 points which is a D for English and then he has a zero
which is an F for math. Like I said I read is important. Four through eight. I'm not going to go through a really wildcat scenario with the other grade levels. I just really wanted to focus in on how that evaluation sheet will look. The other news is we do not have to take we do not have to calculate this data. This is being done at the state also with the final rule. One thing that could change are the numbers that you see in black. Those p those points could change. They were in the first iteration um of this rule. They were 70 90 80. But they wanted them to be they change when they have the updates for the second draft, they put the fives there because they wanted the students to be solid in
the middle of the B range, solid in the middle of the C range. So that's why you see the five 65 75 85. So in grades 4 through 8. So the grade four grade obviously goes in the our district's elementary grade. 5 through 8 is our district's middle school grade. We add the categories on the right. What is interesting to see is that now [clears throat] social studies and science ilearn assessment is included in accountability and has not been in the past. And again, 94% is um the percent research says of attending a school year that learning is most impacted if you fall below that. So 94 and above, you have a much greater um success rate in school if you attend school 94% of the school year. So that's why our students who have
regular school attendance and that's defined as 94% of the days or higher um then you get that additional success indicator points and get to move over a column. Keep in mind any student not enrolled in a South Vermillion um grade level for 162 days is not included in accountability. So they could attend staff familiar for 161 days and they do not get one of these accountability report cards until the next year when they're with us for the full year. So this is again just the right hand side like I said there. See the right hand side it's expanded here so you could see it. Um and then look at the second to the bottom. the second to the bottom. Again, if you pass I read in grade fourth, fifth, sixth, that's the last you can
take it at in the summer of sixth grade. Um, after sixth grade, then you get to you get a whole success indicator point and you get a move to the right. So, that is we still strongly celebrate anytime our students can pass read. That's a really big deal. So, again, that's the worksheet for this and each student will have two of these. And then um grades four through eight, there is a performanceonly category. This could be um obviously students aren't going to have growth if that we can't measure them for two years. Another point to thing to point out is that um we just don't have SGPS. Those are student growth percentiles. Um we just don't have that data yet because if you look on accountability.e.n.gov, our um academic impact report, that data is 2223.
So until that is updated, no district in the state of Indiana has the um SGP to figure out yet. It will come. So there is a four through eight performance only. And then now we move into high school. Remember 9 and 10 gets one grade and then um 11 and 12 gets one grade. You can kind of consider it like 10th graders get a grade, 12th graders get a grade. So you could do something in your ninth grade year and that impacts your 10th grade accountability report card. Don't really just a lone state report card. So um it's really important to earn credits. So you can see the credits on the left and then you have your CTE coursework proficiency on the biology EC. That's an I learn assessment. That's the only I learn assessment
given at the high school level. So the this is the itemization broken down on the right hand side that I pulled from this everything chart. This this page is everything. So I just pulled that over there and stretched it out so that you could see the categories there. 9th and 10th grade report card. So where you see um you're okay whoa we don't we're not talking I learn anymore. No we're not now we're talking credits. So that's the left column there. 11th and 12th really important um um to do well on the SAT. One common one common question is SAT if I look up my child's SAT scores. What if he took it in the school day SAT that's given here in the spring, but what if I took him over to another county and
he did the SAT? because I just really am trying to we [clears throat] as a family are really trying to get his uh SAT score up. Pretend. Um and they the the state has not defined if they're going to use the school day SAT or the one that they took later on at another town or high school. You know what I mean? You can go somewhere else and take the SAT. So that a lot has left a lot has not been defined. Um, and then you do have the 12th grade group in that between co the cohorts that aren't really um the co you have cohorts that aren't impacted by the new diploma seals and then the cohorts that are that are in our high school at this time. So, we have to figure out
all of those like how you will break those [clears throat] kiddos as well. Um, and then I did want to point out one thing before, um, I ask you if you have any questions, and that's when you're looking at this, um, in grades four through 10, and when I say 10, I mean you can still take the I am and in 10th grade I am biology. Um, there the state has. So if I take I am, that's the alternative measure for students with severe cognitive difficulties. They don't take I read. So they don't take I read it's not a test for them that is best for them. So then every student that is an alternate tester just if they don't [snorts] pass I learn then they don't get any points that is a question um
they can't even let's say they have perfect attendance you can't jump that middle column guys that is a gateway column you can't say well I get great attendance well this this these credits or this CTE pathway no you're not jumping that middle column that middle column is the gateway you have to pass through that column I am students don't take I read so that was one of my main questions on fe because the state has not said um they've also not spoken on the alternate diploma. So that's another question we can't answer. And Miss Scar, I met about that last. Do you have any questions? >> I do. Um >> on the high school students, if they take a foreign language, >> correct? They don't have to do social studies and >> science. >> It's
any combination of foreign language, science, and social studies. Some schools um you know offer world history as a freshman. Some schools offer it as a sophomore like our freshman. Most of them in the cohort do not have a social studies class. So it allows for some flexibility in how each school um kind of diversifies or personalizes the sequence of classes that they're taking. >> And I think >> so they have to have two math, two English, and then two any combination of science or studies or foreign language. >> Okay. just so that we're not getting, you know, all art credits and PE so that they're staying on track with their cohort in relationship to the required courses for graduation. >> And you're referencing the left side there for those who are wondering the context of
this question there, two math, two English, two science, social studies or foreign language. >> Sure. >> Any other questions? I will continue to share um till it becomes and even after it becomes a final rule. So thank you. >> Thank you Dr. Bieber. [clears throat] [snorts] Okay. Uh moving on. Next report for December is instructional technology with Spacey. I just wanted to share some information from today's synchronous e-learning day. Uh we started taking phone calls at about 8:30 this morning. I think I had 13 uh between 8:30 and 10:00 mostly getting students logged in. Um those were primarily elementary just because they don't take their iPads home and so this is very new. I know teachers in the elementaryaries have been practicing uh doing Google beats in classrooms. So, they've been working to prepare the
students. We've got some work to do on our end uh when the students come back to school. Um the issue that we're having with our students is with um their Google accounts. We don't require two-step verification on our students trying to make it easier. However, uh the elementary students since they don't take their iPads home and they're taking them home now, it's detecting suspicious activity. So that's why a lot of students have been having some issues um since they started taking them home. So Jason and I worked through several um a lot of parents were able to go through it. They put their phone number in, they could continue on, get them logged in. Uh we did a lot of um overriding the um login challenges that they were getting. But we have a fix
in place once they come back to school. But we'll need to go out and work in the classrooms to help them uh with that. I think we're going to have to enable an authenticator the Google authenticator app on their iPads, we'll walk through and help them get that set up. But once it's set up, they won't have to do anything additional on that, but just something that we're finding on our end. Um it's just just part of it because they haven't had to do this before. So, lesson learned on that. Um but for the most part, um most of the feedback that I received was pretty positive. I spoke with all the principles. They said their days for the most part went fairly smoothly. I know the principles popped in on uh Google Meets and
checked in to see how things were going. I spoke with a couple of middle school teachers who said the attendance was very good today that the students were engaged and seemed to enjoy their lessons. Of course, that was just two that I talked to with anything brand new. Again, synchronous learning. This is our first day today. We've always done asynchronous. Um, we've got some things that that we need to improve on. Uh, we'll talk about it tomorrow with the admin meeting, see what we can do to make things u go more smoothly. But overall, I think I think today was a good day. And uh, I know some teachers got to meet some pets at home and I said it was uh kind of reminiscent of the co days is what I feel like. Um,
we were going through a little bit again. It's kind of a flashback, but uh you know, most of the um most of what we saw today was positive. So, any questions? >> So, 13 calls, is that what you expected? Is that >> Well, I get very rarely any calls anymore. I'm asynchronous just because, you know, we've been doing it for so while it was a little bit and I and Jason, I'm sure, have several as well. Um, but with the e-learning phone line, it comes directly to to my voicemail. And so I went through all those, but I know he received some and worked through those as well. It was a little frenzy between 8:30 and 10. >> Um, but by 10:00 the phone stopped. I had a few more emails that came through after
that. Um, but trying to get everybody in by 9:00 was uh it was it was a little frenzy there. But and we had a lot we had a lot of parents and grandparents who were confused. um because they were trying to get into their sessions and they couldn't get in. Well, the teachers don't let the students in until they're there, which is a good is a good practice. You don't want it's kind of like letting your kids in the classroom when you're not in there. So, um we have a lot of that where the kids you're saying, "We can't get in. The code's not working." And so, I explained to a lot of um a lot of our parents that once the teacher joined at 9:00, they would be able to join. So, try it
again at 9:00. But uh phone calls were very cordial. Had you know like I said grandparents I had parents and so forth. So it was good. >> You actually started this yesterday 5 minutes after you called it. >> We all principles and that that it wasn't 13 calls this morning yesterday. >> Yeah. [clears throat] And you know, I I I just we feel challenged because we can't help every parent and every student individually. Um we're trying our best to communicate and I feel like as a whole, as our group, we're doing a great job in getting the word out and communicating, but we may not be meeting individuals needs on our communication methods. We still have some ways to go with parents square getting people to log in and to view the information. Um so
we'll continue to work on that um as far as how to get the word out best to to everybody. So, um I know the [clears throat] principles sent out their live learning guides and a lot of people were saying, "Where's the live? We don't know what we're supposed to do." Um you know, everybody's got to take responsibility in this and that's something that that we really are going to have to reinforce. >> So, attendance was good >> from what I heard. Principles >> awesome. >> Better than expected. >> Yeah. Yes. [clears throat] >> And they do get time to make up. So, you know, if they couldn't get in today, we heard some Wi-Fi down. People couldn't get logged in. Um, some people who just couldn't access. Uh, they have time to make up the
work to be counted present. So, it's not if you weren't in Google Meet, you're absent. I know absences are kind of concern. There was a lot of grace today. You know, people weren't marked tardy. They didn't get in by nine o'clock. I think today was just really trying to get people comfortable with the process. Just for you, Jenny. We'll let you practice it again tomorrow. >> Practice what? >> We'll be starting. We'll see how the phone calls go tomorrow. [clears throat] Yeah. Yeah. Jason and I will be out in the elementary schools correcting the Google issues, but hopefully we won't have to have a lot more synchronous days. >> For for those windows, is that like a specific time frame? Like you mentioned 9:00 when the teacher arrives. Uh what is the earliest they can
log in? Like is it 8:45? Is it 8:50 or is it 9:00? >> Teachers teachers go in at 9:00. So there's probably a little bit of settling time to get them in. Um I did I thought teachers might get in about five minutes early. I didn't >> Some I was telling parents to try it start trying about 8:55 because I was just thinking, you know, you want to get get prepared because you're going to start at [clears throat] 9:00. And our middle school schedule was a little different. We didn't start our first period till 9:30. >> Yes. >> So, but we had everything posted so they knew what what time to get to which period. So, >> and that's something that I'm going to ask the schools to give me tomorrow is so that as
tech support I need to be better informed as far as when a parent calls and says they're struggling, I don't have to ask where is your e-learning information? Because, you know, there's a little bit of differences grade levels and schools and such. And so I want that information so I can help them know exactly where it is that they're trying to get logged into because a lot of grandparents will say, "Which app are you logging into?" I don't know. And so it, you know, so it gets a little confusing. So I I need some consistency and we need some a little bit more information. I was principal a lot this morning >> getting information from them. So >> So it was a good day. >> It was a big day. you know, as long as
we've been doing e-learning and a lot of schools have been doing synchronous. I think they started last year, the year before when the state started to limit the number of asynchronous days. [clears throat] Um I think that um schools started it and we we weren't we just didn't want to touch it, but uh I think it's okay. I think we're fine. Um and I think the interactivity actually is a positive as opposed to just posting the assignments and and doing work. But I think just that interaction with the teachers and the students on these days, I think it's important and I think it's more worthwhile. Thank you. >> Thank you, Mrs. Foster. [clears throat] >> Okay, moving on. The next report, student services for the month of December. Mrs. Foster, >> what I have for
you at your seat is the attendance in site that is um through last Friday. So that will give you each our corporation in each building their overall attendance the county absenteeism and our city. So that's report that I have for you. >> Any questions for Mrs. Foster? >> All right. Moving on. Facilities report for the month of December. Mr. Zuka multitasking. Yes. Hit the right button before. Um, real quick, not a lot on the facilities report for this month. It's been kind of quiet. We've got a few minor repairs, things like that. Uh, big ticket items, uh, sycam work at the high school. The boilers have arrived. They pou some concrete. They've got a lot of preliminary work started. Um, so we're still on track to make that switch over to Christmas break. Um once
we get a little bit closer, I'll try to get more on the heart date and work with the high school as well as athletics um to find a day where we can have the whole building shut down. There might be a chance they can isolate just the hot water side of it, but I'm going to lean on the caution side and say the whole building will do without water. Um again, within doing all the preliminary work, hopefully we can limit that down to one maybe two days. So that should be coming up here in a couple weeks. Um, the only other thing I'm working on right now is the gym wall at the high school. I did finally get my last quote for that. Um, so I started sitting down and kind of go through
and seeing how they compared and see what could be a good benefit for us. Um, so hopefully come January I'll have a plan in action and presently any questions. >> Thank you. >> All right. Next item. Um second reading on the 20 26 2027 and 2027 2028 academic calendars. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, last month we had the first reading. Uh if you recall the calendar recommendations were based on the vote of staff and community members uh through polls issued on parent square with about 60% of each group liking uh this calendar and then was repeated for the 2728 calendar. I'd be happy to answer any questions at this time. Um, but this is on the decision uh portion of the agenda tonight, too. >> Any questions on school calendar second readings
before we pick it up on the decision portion of tonight's agenda for Dr. L. Hearing none, let's move to the second reading of the new weather related policy. Sorry, this is just in time as we are within the three-day mark. Um and so if you recall um last meeting I've had the approval of the state board of accounts um that if we created a local policy um for our classified handbook that hourly employees could be paid for their time off on uh weather related days. And so that would be item J on under Lee in the classified handbook. Um, and that is for you there this evening and it will also be in the decision portion. Any questions on that one? All right. Well, then let's move forward to the decision portion of tonight's agenda.
And first item, as we've routinely done, is to approve the monthly SB gives back donation. So, Dr. Williams, >> Mr. White is here representing uh Vermillian County Community Foundation this evening and we appreciate your patience and uh we put you on the first portion of the decision item here because we are happy to say that the students and staff are giving back to the million county community foundation amount of $492.53. Uh later on in this decision portion you'll see there's a number of grants that were awarded from the foundation and we appreciate their partnership. It should be noted that this donation is times three this evening um from their partners. So we appreciate this approval [clears throat] at this time. >> I would entertain a motion. So move >> second. >> I have a motion
and a second to approve the donation to the Bian County Community Foundation SP gives back for the month of December $49253. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. Those opposed same. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Take recess. Yeah, we'll take three for each test and do a check presentation. >> [clears throat] >> You're uh getting ready to retire, I hear. Is that all right? >> I can't say that word. >> I'm using the word passing the torch. >> Well, thank you for everything you've always done for school corporation and your service to the community foundation. >> Well, it's great when I come to schoolboard meetings because there's several people in the room who have made a lot happen for the community foundation. either they helped raise money, they gave
money, they wrote grants, they received grants. And so it's just does my heart good to see people out in the community involved in the school and other places. U [snorts] part of this money, like you said, it's going to You didn't know you were going to give a speech tonight. >> Part of this money is part of a 2:1 match. So, two years ago, the men County Community Foundation uh set an ambitious goal to raise $375,000 for what we call unrestricted funds. And unrestricted means that there are no restrictions on the unrestricted fund. So, our board of directors have full discretion on where they grant that money. And so, today with two weeks to go, we're at 288,000 after today. So, we have a little bit to go, but we're highly optimistic based upon everything
that I know and things I can't tell you. But, uh, not everything always works out the way you want. But, uh, if we raise the 375, uh, or any amount, the Lily endowment is going to match at $2 to one. So, if we only raise 300,000, the Lily endowment is going to be 600,000. So, it' be a $900,000 >> total. So, that's just for unrestricted. And then we manage all kinds of if you think of the school accounts, we call them funds. So if your local library has a fund and people donate to that, the Lily's not matching those or they're not matching scholarship funds. And so we're still raising money for all those. And uh we serve Fountain County and we serve Vermillion County. It surprises a lot of people. Uh but as of
today in grants and donations we've raised $4.9 million in our two small counties. So kudos to Verminian County and Fountain County for all that they did. >> Awesome. >> Thank you. >> Congratulations to you. >> Yes. Congratulations. [clears throat] >> Okay, moving on. Next item is um Clinton Public Library Board of Trustees reappoint. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, I'd like to recommend the reappoint of Terry Williamson to continue to serve on the Clinton Public Library Board of Trustees. I would ask for your approval at this time. >> I will make that motion. I'll second. >> Have a motion and second to uh approve the recommendation of the reappointment of Terry Williamson to the Clinton Public Library Board of Trustees. Is there any further discussion? Hearing none, all members in favor signify by
saying I. >> I. Those opposed, same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Uh next item is uh we just talked about the second reading of the academic calendars. This is the affirmative action on those. the 2026 27 and the 27 2028 2027 2028 second reading of the academic calendars. >> Members of board I just ask for your approval of those calendars at this time. >> I'll [clears throat] make a motion to approve both years. >> Second. >> I have a motion second to approve the 2026 2027 and the 27 2028 academic calendars. Hard to believe we're saying 2027 2020. Um as presented in first and second reading. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Next item is
amendment of the classified handbook. >> Yeah. Members of the board, this is the second reading that we just discussed uh under the reports this evening. Uh this would give us the um ability to ask for a waiver uh on any two-hour delay or e-learning day for classified staff to remain paid. So I would ask for your approval at this time. >> So move second. >> I have a motion and a second uh to approve the amendment to the classified handbook as presented. Any further questions? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed, same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. >> Next item is uh a recommendation for compensation for extra duties. Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Members of the board, I would I would ask for your approval at this
time to provide Mr. Garrett Lee with a $500 stipen in recognition of his extra duties with the band as he's taken over that position since October uh 18th, right around the fall break time. put on with the winter wonderland and he's really put our man in a good position for new teacher Mr. Anderson coming in January. So I ask this motion >> have a motion and a second to approve the recommendation for compensation for extra duties for Mr. Garrett Lee. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. >> Next item is a non-resident student transfer request not plural. So one >> uh two >> two request. >> So it is request. >> Yes. >> Document request. Uh members of the
board I would ask for your approval of the two non >> resident student transfer request this even. What uh buildings are the city? >> I didn't. >> I'll make a motion. >> I have a motion. I'll >> second. >> Have a second. A motion second to approve the non-resident student transfer requests as presented. Is there any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. [clears throat] >> I. Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Next item. We have multiple grants uh to approve. So Dr. Williams. >> Yeah. Uh for Central Elementary, Vermillion County Community
Foundation in the amount of $2,300 for one school, one book. The Vermillion County Community Foundation, also Central, $2,000 for a robotics program. South Rain High School, Western Indiana Community Foundation, $7,500 for a new full chair lift and for uh the graphic sprint shop from the War County Community Foundation, $15,000. We are extremely grateful for these opportunities and we appreciate the partnership with the foundation. We ask for your approval of these grants at this time. >> I'll make a motion to approve those grants. A motion to second to approve the grants as presented. Any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. I. >> I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. >> I have it. Mush carries. Thank you very much. >> Moving on to more good news. Donations for much of this

All members in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed, same
sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Thank you again. >> Moving on field trips for the month of December. >> Yeah, members of the board, there's a number of field trips that we are requesting approval for this evening. The one on December 12th for the high school choir was marked out due to us not being in school that day. Uh, otherwise if there's any questions on any of those, I'd be happy to answer those at this time. [snorts] >> I have a motion. >> Second. >> I have a second to approve the field trips as presented. There any further discussion? Hearing none. All members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed. Same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Are they just not going to use that anymore or >> uh Mr. Uh Morgan asked that we do that. I don't think it works. Um and he's wanting to create more space for some uh booth space. I believe second motion second to approve the surplus item at the high school as presented. There further discussion hearing. None. Members in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed, same sign. Eyes have it. Motion carries. Okay, that concludes our regular portion of tonight's agenda. Brings us to our last citizens comment period. 057like to address the board before we adjourn, now will be your chance to do so. If you're interested in addressing the board, please stand up to the podium, state your name for the record. Hearing, seeing no comments, we'll close citizens comment and conclude with Dr. Williams comments and then board members comments. Dr. Williams, >> good evening. I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility with the weather uh this past week or two. We prefer to do uh e-learning rather than making updates or using flex days. Uh as our flex days are at the end of May, all the state testing, grading, graduation requirements are already completed at that point. We realize that parents and teachers have a lot of adjustments to make on e-learning days and that is why I've been trying to
make the calls early enough for everyone to adjust and plan for child care and uploading assignments and so forth. Uh we knew we would have some hiccups with our first synchronous day but Mrs. Fosty already spoke to that this evening. Um just like with that anything new it will eventually wear off and we'll become uh very good with it. Um but hopefully we don't have to do too much more. With that being said, we are moving to a synchronous uh e-learning day tomorrow. Um Mrs. Bugetto, Mrs. Foster, myself, and Mr. Kashan drove this afternoon. Um and I'm just not comfortable with the roads and I might be the only one or two in this area that go to that. Um but my dad told me I think if we have the resources to go see
e-learning, then that's what we're going to do. Um so with that being said, appreciate everyone's efforts. Um and everyone have a a great Christmas break as we might have this week. >> Awesome. Thank you. Thank you, Dr. Williams. Uh we'll start down this Mr. Gatner. >> Uh just would again like to thank everyone for the time they spent putting the presentations together. Uh just uh looking forward to seeing how we can our students at those levels of
>> Thank you, Mr. Governor, Mrs. Staylor. Well, I won't keep your grades so I know everybody's ready to get back home with this weather, but I do think like with today I know I'm sure you know you always get negative stuff too, but I'm glad to hear that there is some positive as well. And I agree with Mr. Williams. I mean, all is I guess one kid safe. I mean, it's worth it, you know. So, and everybody have a good Christmas. I can't believe that year's almost over the time. Thank you, Mr. Sisle. >> For me, everybody have a much welldeserved Christmas break. >> Thank you, Mrs. Hill. >> Just thank you, Mr. Williams. So, thank you for having a merry Christmas and happy new year. >> Awesome. Great. Miss Gersley, >> thanks for coming out on this cold evening. I appreciate your reports and um Dale White, thanks for coming. Um I was glad that we were able to, you know, we've been doing this uh SV gives back for a while. So we appreciate that and good luck in
your transition. And just so you know, the Lily Endowment Scholar will be announced this week for for county. >> Oh boy. >> South will be pleased. [laughter] >> Spoiler, huh? >> So, happy holidays everyone. Enjoy your Christmas. >> Thank you, Mr. Mley. Um, yeah, thanks to everybody involved in uh in uh the synchronous learning day. uh transition. Um I know it's definitely not been easy on everybody, but uh from the teachers, administrators, the parents, students, grandparents, um we certainly appreciate you and you know it's a it's a work in process, but uh um you know what a what a great tool to ensure the safety of our kids on a day like we're going to you know times we're going through right now. So, uh, thank you for that and, uh, thank again to also
Dale and Community Foundation. What a great steward, what a great partner and your stewardship of the foundation's been tremendous and we wish you all your success in, like I said, your transition.
