To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> We're going to pray if you'd like to join us heavenly father. We thank you for the opportunity to be here tonight. Uh we thank you for a great end of the school year. We ask that you would continue to bless this community. Bless everything that is going on here and be with us through the court process. In Jesus name we pray. And we do have a couple additions to the agenda. We're going to be adding uh D, which is additional board member pay for additional meetings. And then E, we're going to add stipen for classified employees. Is there any other additions that needed to be added to
that? um like to talk about the daycare meeting that we have. >> Okay. So, we go daycare and then runs or I guess building maintenance in general. I'll make a motion to approve the agenda with those items. I'll >> second. All >> those in favor? >> This time we're going to open it up for public comments on the agenda. No comments on the agenda. We're going to move next to meeting and approval for the April minutes and financials. >> Motion. >> Do I have a second? >> A second. >> All those in favor? Move on to approving the resignation of girls basketball coach Ryan Chedister. Do I have a motion to approve? >> Do I have a second? >> Second. All those in favor. Now we'll move on to the additional um board member meeting
pay. >> I would make a recommendation that for your additional meetings, the times you spend away from your just standard meetings, you get get a stipen of $200 per meeting. >> And that that is what other schools are doing. I think that's anticipate that's in the anticipation of the time that the court case is going to take, right? And some some of these board members will have to take off days of work for that and so that's a way to try to help them. >> Okay. Do I have a motion to approve? >> Do I have a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> Moving on to the site for classified employees >> board. So our we had this spring we were pleasantly surprised with our tag tag results for our teachers. So
those dollars are handed out to the teachers certified staff. Um one thing that the board has always done been generous in terms of providing a stipen then also for the classified staff because we realize that without st classified staff um have a school either. So it's it's everyone does their part and everyone's equal footing. So, um, we have a recommendation, um, with, uh, with an amount. Um, I would I would like to give an amount of $1,500 for classified staff. >> Do I have a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> And we're going to move on to proposed date here. >> You want to talk about that, Jeff, or do you want me to talk about it? Um Jeff and I uh had we had a meeting with um local
churches to try to see if we could maybe lease space from the church to run a small daycare. And that is mainly because our staff is asking for a daycare situation because it's very hard for them if they have to leave, take their kids somewhere, and then come back and work here. And so I think that was a positive meeting. Uh we we haven't finalized anything. We're still getting information about what the staffing ratios would have to be, but that's just something we wanted to update that we're looking into. >> Okay. Uh the next item is rugs or building maintenance. >> Yeah. So, board, two items, two items to discuss tonight. Number one, uh is the the we recently spent a lot of money on on hallways and uh but for some reason they get
scuffed up where they are. So, we talked about maybe putting carpet there. Um, especially in the winter time, they get wet and they get slick a little bit for the kids and for the teachers, which can become a hazard. Um, we talked about here putting uh is it Cint Cintas? Cintas partnering with Cintas and and putting runners, you know, wide runners down the down the uh down the hallway. Are there any thoughts on on that? >> I'd say let's just get quotes on both and and see which one's more cost effective over a year. I mean, a cents rental is going to be as much as cutting something safer like carpet down and we might as well do something that's longterm. I don't know how expensive those are monthly. >> Those are nice though because
they pick them up once a month, right? And bring back new ones. I was with you. >> Okay. So, we'll glad to do that. The other part of it too, um, an interesting thing happened, um, >> yeah, you probably um, also just give an update on our fire marshal. Uh, we had the fire marshal here last October, November. Um, so he went through each one of our classrooms, each one of our uh, spaces and we talked about what's acceptable, what's not. Um, this is what he does every year. He filed a report. Marvin walked through the building with him. Um, and I did some as well and then he came back 30 30 days later and everything was clean. Um, but then some things can get shifted over time. Um, one of the things that
and so Marvin and I, uh, the fire department was here the other night and Christy went through with them and so she made some recommendations. So Marvin and I went through each of the classrooms again, each of the spaces again, updated things. Um, but one of the things that's that's unique that we're finding um, and everything was was we moved some things around, make sure we clean, make sure things were okay, compliant with what the fire marshall had told us. Um, but one of the things that that's different and unique is courts. there. Um, you know, kids are with our devices. Jeeoff and I talked about this a little bit with our technology director. Um, what to do with cords because kids have got cords out and they they need their computers charged because we
are one to one and we do use them a lot. Um, we'd love we'd love for them to be charged overnight. They come charged in the morning. The issue is if they're used a lot then by noon they're going to need to be charged again. And so Marvin and I are talking today about what are some options in terms of classrooms? Do we get tables rather than desks that have plugins inside the tables? Um just to clean up the living spaces where we're at. >> Yeah. Just know we're looking into it because that's that's something that that you mentioned and then we went through again and we noticed that just seems to be it's kind of a natural hazard of today's classroom. >> It's a problem at my house too. You're having to charge everything.
>> Yeah. So like my table in my office has got plugins in the middle. Um but I know that some schools bring it down from even from the ceiling. It's a retractable pluging down tables on the tables very popular across schools as spaces in the classroom. Um so so just know that we're looking into that. I'll give you updates on that as we as we go. So I appreciate your time that night. Sorry you get called out. >> No and I I'm glad to kind of walk through and and to take care of the things that we need to take care of. >> Yeah. The biggest issues we had some we had some um power cords plugged into power cords. That was one of the main things. And the other thing we talked about we
may talk about more is how we feel about having appliances inside the classrooms. That takes up a lot of a lot of space. Also, if someone's running a microwave, it also messes with their Wi-Fi. Um, and so I know in past places have maybe not allowed any sort of kitchen appliances inside the classroom, but we also then created a a very nice lounge for teachers to be able to to break those. So that's something >> I think the main concern was making sure that they were plugged in on opposite sides of the room like not through the same plug in that and making sure that everyone turns their lamps off when they leave. Any appliances in classroom need plug the wall not into >> Yeah. Yeah. We made sure today. >> Yeah. Appreciate you your
time. That's the >> Is there any other updates from testing or anything? All of our third graders have passed I read >> and 60% of our second graders have passed I read and so this will no there will be no I read remediation this summer we are doing summer school um which will be Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday uh it'll be from 9 to 1 and so we'll be picking up kids at certain locations bring them in and and feeding them uh there will be 18 18 different days of summer school this year so we're excited about that about 37 students are signed up for that when you know elementary grades and uh graduation coming up Friday night at 7 7 o' um typically that's always big assignment there we have summer sports starting in
June which will be a lot of fun finalizing that schedule with that and then we have um baseball and track and golf finishing up finishing up their spring seasons as Anything else? If nothing else, then I want to ask for a motion to hear. Do I >> have a second? A >> second. >> All those in favor? I I
