Good evening everyone. It's time to start the meeting. >> Tonight um the prayer will be led by Scott Gaskins. >> Bow your heads. >> Heavenly Father, we come to you today asking for your guidance, wisdom, and support as we begin this meeting. Help us engage in meaningful discussions allowing us to grow closer as a group and nurture the bonds of the community. Grant us clarity of thoughts and unity of purpose in our decisions. In your name we pray. >> Amen. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Okay. Agenda. Are there any corrections or additions? >> There are no changes to the agenda. >> So, I make a motion to approve
the agenda. >> Make a motion to approve the agenda as stated. >> Second. >> Okay. Is there any discussion or questions? >> Okay. Could you please vote? Sorry, I'm catching up. >> There we go. >> Is your >> Yes. >> Oh, I know why it's on a touch pad. Thank you. No problem. >> Okay. Thanks. >> All right. Motion passes. >> No. >> Okay. >> There are >> now it's okay. >> Carried. I see it. Okay. Minutes. Is there a motion to approve the minutes? >> I'll make a motion to approve the minutes. >> I'll second. Any questions or discussion? >> Please vote. >> Okay. >> Past mission moments. >> Yes. So today we have the primary school here to present um the resiliency team. So Susie, thanks for joining us. >> Good evening. Um
I'm Susie Morgan from the primary building and this is a small portion of our resiliency team. Um the resiliency team started out as uh it was called before the behavior and discipline committee. Um and as we started working postcoid through some of the postcoid problems uh with students and behaviors and exposure to things um it sort of developed into the merry band that we are now. Um our job mostly is to determine um building and grade level norms. I think that's the right button. There we go. and um put my spectacles on. So um we look at different types of discipline. And so in the fall of 2022, we pulled the discipline uh report for the first six weeks of school. And as you can see, um there were 38 labeled as other, six labeled
as battery, and on and on. And so what we discovered was um our teachers are so nice. They don't like to call things what it is. So they label things other. So they don't like to label kicking and hitting and things like that as battery. So because they're so sweet, they're like, "They're so little, we don't want to call that." So, but we we learned to call things what they are and address them as they were needed. Um, we also looked at um the norms for our grade level and provided guidance for when to sub uh submit an office referral and tips for filling out RTI plans. Um, and again, Skyward showed the data that you see on the screen. Nope. Next. There we go. Okay. So the behaviors we were seeing and being addressed
in the classroom in the school most frequently are seen below and rated in the order from most frequent to least frequent. And again this was in 2022 when we were still the discipline committee. Um the team reviewed a variety of data including grade level behavior norms, incidents as they were reported in Skyward and issues. Um, we looked also at whether the students that we were dealing with mostly were in district or out of district students and how we could address those. Um, and by acclimating them to our expectations with maybe a panther pal or a student mentor. Um, the behavior committee was asked what issues they believe were being seen and addressed in the classroom. The four most frequently seen were refusal and defiance, physical harm, aggression and frustration, or excessively verbal. Um, the grade
level teams were asked to rate these behaviors in order of most seen to least frequently seen. And as you can tell, um, kind of the refusal from kindergarten goes down a little bit, as well as the frustration as they become acclimated to a school day. Okay. So what came next? We had a lot of discussion. We went through a lot of data and over the course of the next few months uh we evaluated how to address the behavior concerns and what changes would help address them. It was also during this time that we began our partnership with Dr. Desal's um and the team members attended several things that the school we were so happy that they provided for us. We had team members attend the spark conference. Um, some attended Kevin Dill, how to deal
with difficult students. Um, we had in-house training from Susie Regal and Wendy Campbell u from KEC and our team also presented PD to our staff during this process and that was when the resiliency team emerged. Okay. So now we are the resiliency team in 2023. We are kind of going to show you a timeline of what we've been working on since that time. We have been really busy. Um we have developed a common language in our school. All staff that comes in is trained in um if you walk in any room, all staff say, you know, if you need physical control of your body, you need verbal control and we respect everyone and their possessions. Um we dove into data regarding recesses and breaks in kindergarteners and first graders. Um we did anchor um professional
development for our staff when to tap in and tap out when they have hit a threshold of stress where they need just a few moments of break. And so we willingly go in and cover for each other and um give that moment of break. Um we also in front of you you have the discipline flowchart um that helped the teachers know when to send a student to the office for their behavior and when to deal with it in the classroom and provided professional development for the times for behavior in the classroom. So you can see there that different things um and that comes from we have a lot of different personalities in our room. We have teachers who want to handle their own discipline and may become very frustrated because they're continually handling a discipline
that they should send on or they um didn't weren't equipped because they were a newer teacher and needed professional development. Um so we worked on a lot of training for classroom management and we became very procedure focused. So our teachers do an awesome job of reviewing the procedures in the classroom. We spend a heavy amount of time on that the first two weeks of school and then continually follow up. Um we are currently working on a plan for next school year um for what to start how to start out the school year and then how to revisit that when we come back from a Christmas break or a vacation break so that the kids can be successful and have those procedures revisited. Okay. We also looked at um data. We found sometimes that there were
several students who were spending an inordinate amount of time in study room because they were having difficulty in the classroom completing assignments. Um they may have had behaviors um and then we were not giving the time to giving them the time to blow off steam and run that off. So we've worked out a plan with the teachers for that and there's a procedure for that. We've continued our um applied educational neuroscience training with Dr. Desitols. Um we have a discussion of tier one classroom behaviors. On the back side of that flowchart that you have for discipline, um Mrs. Grenstead, our lovely data analysis person, we love her for that. Um she created this tier one behavior documentation spreadsheet. So this is valuable. It's valuable for the office and it's valuable for the teachers as the
teachers are dealing with behaviors in the classroom. Um they are documenting it here and if they've called the parents, contacted the parents and then when they need to send a student to the office, we can see what all the work they have done in the classroom and we are able to pick that up, contact the parents and make uh disciplinary decisions at that time. Um, tier two is office managed behaviors and then uh we have behavior meetings with the administrators if you may have a challenging student and those work the same as if we have um academic needs. So we also have meetings with uh behavior needs. Okay. So we did a ed executive function survey. We are K2 building uh for positive and negative issues that we were having in the building. Um, if
you're not familiar with executive functioning skills, that's like time management, working memory, self-control, attention, uh, perseverance when things get hard, and planning and organizing. And those things can be very challenging for a little person, and sometimes they're challenging for big people. So, we even included our teachers in that in those things because when you deal with little people all day, they can wear you out. So, um, we went through yard sticks is a wonderful book for age appropriate student executive functioning and expectations in the classroom. And so, we did a professional development with our staff. We they were provided the age level because that's how it's provided to us. Um, expectations for students, what they should be able to do in this age range in your classroom. That let us know that we were aligned
and not expecting too much or we were not challenging them enough in the classroom. Um and again we go through the 180 days of educational neuroscience and uh what I love to see in the building are the touch points and panther pals. Uh panther pals are our special area teachers. if they have an open period, they are paired up with a student who may be having a hard time acclimating, a hard time making friends, um, and they become a pal to them and that student has someone to talk to and a relationship with an adult in the building because relationships are very important to all of us in our building. Touch points. I know that there are staff who have touch points with each other. um if they just need a moment, they need a
moment to tap in, tap out, or if they need a moment to bounce an idea off someone. So, this is our team. We enjoy spending time together. We even do uh things together in the summer. So, and have a meeting in the summer and have a meal together and do something fun. So, we are happy to answer any questions that you have about the team. >> Nice. uh question regarding since the the you know the transformation into the resilience team have we seen year-over-year improvements when it comes to the behavior incidents? >> So I'm curious like >> yes >> for right now >> yes the data will tell >> okay >> after the first year it was the resiliency team the first nine weeks of school um the year before we had had a 100
discipline referrals in the first nine weeks and the next year we had 49. >> Wow. That's true. >> Oh, this is really great um work. How much of the discipline issues occur on the playground >> in the beginning of the year and then again when the weather gets nice? >> It it's a lot. >> They're happy to be outside and running around and >> not not everybody has good control of their body. They don't all have good physical control. So, um I spent 15 years as a volunteer coordinator. Would more people on the playground such as volunteers be helpful? >> Um it could because it's just our teaching staff that are out there usually during recess or a substitute teacher >> because their support staff are eating lunch during that time. >> And so, yeah,
>> I I think we could find volunteers. >> More more eyes the better. >> Yeah. >> How do you roll this information out with parents? Um it is some of it is on the website, the new website. Um Mrs. Dwise puts it in the newsletter. There's always a blurb in the newsletter um regarding our team or what we're working on or new skills and things. Uh particularly when we rolled out um the new executive functioning things like physical control and all of that. So verbal control. So we let parents know that that was coming and how we were going to start our our year. Do you give parents tips on what they could be doing at home? >> Uh when we have meetings, yes, when we have behavior meetings or phone calls, um I generally
wait to see if they ask or I'll ask a question and say, "Do you see this at home?" You know, how is that handled at home? Because sometimes we're able to accommodate that at school, too. If that's effective at home in dealing with it, we want to be able to come alongside and do that at school as well. A lot of us put information in our newsletters to help parents that relate to a lot of these things that they can be doing at home or way just how when you're presented in that situation what the response could be how we can respond to that. >> Yeah, I think that would be very beneficial to have that partnership. >> And Mrs. sleep designs her classroom lessons and her small group lessons around a lot of these
>> around a lot of the data what the kids need in the moment. >> Well, thank you for all the time and energy you put into this. I know it has to be a lot of energy with those little ones and >> we enjoy it. Thank you. Okay. Panther Pride. >> Yes. So, we have um Mr. Bevington in the high school. I don't know. Oh, there's Mr. Bevington and I don't know if Mr. Ed Oh, there's Mr. Edwards. Good evening. I'm presenting on behalf of Tiffany Husband. Ever since I began student teaching here, Coley has been an incredible source of support and encouragement. He is always willing to help when I am trying to figure something out, and his guidance has made my first year teaching far less overwhelming and much more rewarding. Coley is
a major reason why I chose to work at Western High School. He is truly one of the best co-workers I've ever had. We share the same passion for teaching and student success and we work together seamlessly as a team. His dedication, collaboration, and positive influence on both colleagues and students make him more than deserving of teacher of the year or teacher of the month. Congratulations. the hat dudes on. >> Jim, you >> great. >> You don't call my chip anymore. >> Thank you for sir. >> Hey, congratulations. All right. And Mr. ZH, I think you're here to present uh Mrs. Hill. I mention Vicky Hill as one of our employees of the month for this month. As you the board knows, uh Vicki serves in the role of accounts payable and HR specialist. uh in
this role. Her impact on the corporation has been nothing short of exceptional. A highlight reel of sorts of her accomplishments includes uh but is not exclusive to digitizing the docket and accounting reporting, creating and/or updating ECA manuals, job descriptions, onboarding procedures, setting up AC for vendors, which was something that we had not been doing previously. uh implementing along with Dana the Red Rover caller system and through her efforts dramatically dramatically increasing the number of subs in our subpool that helps the bottom line dollars and cents but also improve instruction within the classroom. Uh Vicki also took the monumental task on of organizing our long-term record storage and catches it up and shredding old documents. Uh this is something that had been neglected for years. Uh there was also the time that she recognized an error
in our electric billing uh and was able to save the corporation $20,000 plus uh no small thing. Uh these things alto together is an example how Vicki has played a pivotal role in the modernization modernization excuse me efforts within the business office. Uh after 20 years serving in this role, prior to that as the primary ECA, prior to that the primary librarian, Vicki will be retiring uh effective this Friday unless we can change her mind. >> Come on, Vicki. >> Come on. >> We'll increase the gift card size. >> Yeah. While the long list of accomplishments that we went over is impressive, where I am most admiring of, most appreciative of Vicki is one, she leaves us better off than when she found us. Uh, and two, she has very intentionally positioned her replacement in
a position to continue the success that we've come across within this position. >> Often organizations when a highly effective person leaves, the effectness and efficiency of that position can't be maintained. And we all ask ourselves or we all tell ourselves that you know that person was just so good they couldn't be replaced. The better question would be if that highly effective person was that good why weren't the procedures, processes, systems in place so the level of success could be continued and andor be built upon. Uh not a question we're have to ask with Vicki and we've already seen this once when she came over from the primary building. She left there the systems in place so that the new ECA could hit the ground running quickly, get up to speed and that level of effectiveness
that Vicki had kind of set there and was even able to take it the next steps with some of the modernization efforts that they engaged in. Uh we're already seeing this in the current role, current position that she's vacating in retirement. Uh in that in this role, she's built it from the ground up because it was a new position. We didn't have any systems in place. She's built the the description of that job to something that we never really imagined. Uh she's put systems around that. She's communicated. She's trained uh Alicia, her replacement, on them to where we're very confident we're going to see the same level of effectiveness that we've grown accustomed to. uh after those 20 years, we uh say thank you to Vicki, wish her the best in retirement uh and appreciative
of all the the loyalty, the leadership, and the overall effectness that she's shown Western in that time span. Thank you. Thank you. Enjoy the voice. >> Congratulations. Congratulations. >> It's just, >> you know, in a conversation that I had with Vicki not too long ago, she said uh that she wishes she had more time to uh get some of the systems that she'd been working on in place. And I said, you know, we could arrange that. Um but but I think uh you know, Friday is approaching quickly. and she said that she hasn't changed from days to hours yet. So, um on the countdown. So, I I think uh everybody's going to be sad to see Vicki go on on Saturday. So, we wish her the best moving forward. >> Still on um student of
the month. So, we have the primary school. Do we have our representative? Oh, there we go. Hello. Um, I'm Mrs. Bolan and I nominate Erilyn Hassang for student of the month. Erin is one of the most caring and genuine students I've had the honor of teaching. She is always going above and beyond to include others and make them feel accepted. Whenever she completes her work, she seeks to help others with anything they need. She does it with no intention of being praised for it. It is just simply out of the kindness of her heart. Airline always makes me proud. But one thing that really stuck out this year was a Christmas letter that she wrote to Santa. Um while reading through my students letters before sending them to the North Pole, I read what students
wanted for gifts or how excited they were to open presents. But then I came across Erllyn's and she simply wrote, "Dear Santa, I just want everyone to be happy. Love Arilyn." Um, and that right there just speaks volumes as to what kind of person she is and why I feel she deserves to be student of the month. I got it. Good job. >> Good job, kiddo. >> Good job. Go. Two more. >> All right. Western Intermediate School. This is Quinn Baldwin and it is my pleasure to nominate her as student of the month for Western Intermediate School. I had the opportunity to get to know Quinn more intentionally through our leadership league, an afterchool leadership development group for students in the intermediate building. She has impressed me so much from the very beginning. Quinn exemplifies
leadership in a way that's both powerful but also quiet. From day one, her gentleness stood out to me. She has a natural ability to gain the attention and respect of her peers without ever demanding it. Students are drawn to her because she leads with kindness, patience, and confidence. Quinn demonstrates a level of maturity beyond her years, consistently making thoughtful, responsible decisions that move our group in a positive direction. When our team finds itself stuck on a project or unsure of the next step, Quinn never hesitates to step forward and help refocus our group. What makes her leadership so special though is the way that she does it. She doesn't take over. Instead, she invites others in. She ensures every voice is heard, every student has a role, and everyone feels valued in the process. She
understands when it's time to lead and when it's time to st take a step back and let others shine, which is a rare but admirable quality in a fourth grader. Quinn embodies the character, collaboration, and commitment that we hope to cultivate in all of our students. She represents Western Intermediate with grace and integrity, and she's incredibly deserving of this recognition. It's truly my honor and privilege to celebrate her and the positive impact that she is making on those around her. I wonder if you watch. >> You're awesome. >> Good job. Congrats. >> All right, it looks like we have two from the middle school, one from January. So, uh, we can do the one for Bryson first. here. >> Okay. So, uh we have Bracen. All right. Come on up. >> Uh hi. I would
like to um recognize Braayson Winger tonight. Um he is just an amazing young man. Uh Braayson um has been he's just been a star student all year. We're just so proud of him. his compassion toward his peers and his humble personality truly make him an easy choice for our team. Um just just everything he does, he just does it on his own. Um he's very humble about all that he does. Grayson is extremely active in a multitude of activities at Western. He's an honorroll student and he's also a Paul award winner, a student ambassador, which is a top position to earn, very elite to earn as a sixth grader, and he plays on the Western football team, among other things. Students look up to Braayson as a role model for them. One example is that
I was preparing uh to lift a chair across the room for a student who needed it. Braayson stopped me and said, "I have this, Mrs. Lazar. Don't worry about it." He might not think a whole lot about it. I was just just so happy about that. He took the chair for me, carried it to a student who was standing without a chair. The manners of this young man are absolutely exceptional. We're so proud of Braayson and all of us just love him so much and he does a great job. Thank you, Braayson. CONGRATULATIONS. >> Good job, buddy. >> Breaking. >> All right. And now we have Western High School. Hello, I'm Mindy Everling. I'm the art teacher in the high school. And this is Mora Guyger. She's my student of the month. So, I told
her it took a lot for me to even nominate somebody for me to have to stand up and like talk in a microphone and stuff. So, my speech is a little shorter. Um, she has showed tremendous growth in her artwork and attention to detail. She has been in my art room since a freshman and she has just became such a great student and a helper to her peers. This year she's really stood out and has really became if somebody's struggling or needs help, she steps forward and helps them, especially with the glass work that we've been doing. Um, she has finally found herself in the art room and her work reflects that curiosity and talent she has. I passed these out to a few of you, but there's a couple more we have. She can
give them to you on the way through. But her she has two pieces, a mixed media mosaic and a stained glass piece that has been accepted into the high school art exhibition at IUK. So she has really came together as an artist and as a student for these last four years. SO >> see he's going fist bump again. It's all right. I got one. Give me one. Thank you so much. >> Congratulations. >> Should have got one. >> Okay. A couple other things for Panther Pride. Um the bowling team uh the girls finished second at the regional tournament and advanced to the semi-state and the boys team finished ninth at the regional tournament. Also the girls team finished fifth at the semi-state um with Kylie Binkard finishing 11th and Peter Weber finishing 26th for the
boys. So um congratulations to Mr. Kelly and the team and he does a fantastic job of really promoting bowling. Um, if I had it my way, I think bowling would be an IHSA sport. Um, but I don't have it my way. So, uh, but they do a great job with the club. And then also, um, we had, um, we had hosted the, um, the girls sectional, uh, for the first time um, that I can remember for, um, Western. And, um, Mr. Heyman uh did get a uh behavior report uh from um um from the IHSAA and basically uh saying to Aaron and all of his volunteers they made it a successful girls sectional week as staff was friendly, helpful and reliable. Uh the team was positive, upbeat, and greeted us with a smile. The volunteers
that worked uh the table were pros and made working the games easier with their approachability and willingness to work together. All of their efforts made it so I looked forward to arriving and working at the Western sectional. Thank you Aaron and your staff. So that was a nice um accolade for all the hard work. I mean that was a lot of nights and a lot of events that week for Aaron and his staff. So I wanted to give them kudos there as well. So that's all I have for Panther Pride. Okay. Well, for those of you who came for Panther Pride, and you are certainly um leave right now, why don't you stay if you'd like to stay? >> It didn't tip off. It just >> Yeah, I was just here. >> The game just
started three minutes. >> Lucky you held him. You did great. >> Thank you. >> Sorry, no score update yet. >> I don't want a score update. Keep motion. >> It's recording it. >> Well, you and I can talk. >> That's your Wow. >> Right on right now. yours. >> Okay, public comment. No one has signed up for public comment, so we'll go to reports. Treasures report. Excuse >> my report. The end of month balance for January totaled $18,64,474.72. Uh interest investments that were in CDs uh totaled $680,845. As I've detailed before, those will come back into the account at the end of March. Uh fund totals then with the CDs total $18,745,319.72. Payroll claims being submitted for your approval. Total $2,92,895.19. As a reminder, January was one of our two three pay months. So, a
little bit more expensive there. Vendor claims that are being submitted for your approval total 1,63,486.35. Uh only other note that I have to mention is make the board aware of a couple notifications that we've got in the the last few months on uh turf increasing. So I think as you guys are aware one of the key benefits that we can apply most of our employees teachers especially uh is a traditional pension plan which when most of the private sector has gone away from this this is a significant um benefit that we're able to along with the state provide. Now in calendar year 26 uh we contributed 9.5% of a teacher's salary towards their their pension. Uh for you know our average salary is about 60,000 that means we were contributing $5,700. Uh we do 2%
onto a 401A for every teacher. So that's an extra $1,200. So for that individual we'll give an example of it' be $6,900 that we contribute again in calendar year 26. Uh in count calendar year 25 excuse me calendar year 26 current calendar year the turf contribution rate is going up6%. In calendar year 27 that's going up an additional 1%. So when that is fully implemented in calendar year 27 for that same teacher making $60,000 we will contribute for their turf $6,660. The 401A will be the same that 1,200 total $7,860 towards that teacher's retirement. So a $960 increase with those turf increases 6% this year 1% next year. Uh if you look at our whole teaching staff, that total increase will be $170,748.74. There's some movement in that, but that's a good approximation at this
point in time. You know, it's a good thing that we can along with the state provide this benefit, but when it does go up, that does cost us more. And that's why I want to make you aware of it. Uh that will be a number that we've got to consider when we go into collective bargaining next year. Uh, you've received my documentation. If you have any questions, more than happy to go into more detail. >> I make a motion to approve the report. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> Any questions? >> Is Perf going to go up also? Is that gone up? >> Not yet. We We contribute 11.2% for turf. Uh, but they we've not received any notification from PERS that it's going up in the near future. Didn't we sign a
two-year contract? >> So, does this affect >> Okay, >> that makes sense. >> All right, please vote. >> Come on. Right, that carried. All right. exceptional alerts and testing. Lindsay, >> good evening. I have the opportunity to look at my report. Um I again conferences are the big thing. But as we look at each area um for testing and updates, we're just getting ready for the IE. The ECA biology is coming up. Um I did meet with our school test coordinators just to get our processes, procedures, be sure that we're refreshing those with our staff. Um title and e I participated um in the monthly director's PLC today. Um I'm also working with the EL teachers on the middle school and high school side to kind of streamline services um for those EL students and
foreign exchange students at the high school level. Um as far as special ed um more of the same case conferences. Um I did I didn't put this on here but um one of the primary special ed teachers and I visited the preschool at Howard where we have our developmental preschools kiddos go. Um we have four coming to kindergarten next year. We were able to go a couple weeks ago and just observe the students and interact with them and it was really fun. Um and then as far as high ability goes, um Jamie Melissa and I um did a virtual training on high ability um evaluation implementation design um and just trying to streamline our processes for that as well. >> Okay, >> any questions about open a position? Are you getting quite a few to
interview? >> We actually had five uh set up and they all interviewed. They all came in um and I think we hired three so it was a great turn. >> Great deal. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Um technology correct? >> Yes. Good evening. Uh just want to highlight a few items uh really quickly. Um we are uh slated this year to upgrade some uh middle school and high school the business labs. Um we're looking at um machines and and prices of those items. Of course, unfortunately, it's like everything else they've gone up and gone up a lot. um within the last few years. Um but we're still we've still made a budget for that. So we're looking at that. Um wanted to mention we're we've been looking at the um I know tonight is the
intermediate building the discussion on some of the work over there. Looking at um possibly moving to large format displays in place of projectors uh similar to what you see here um in the classrooms instead of the projectors. Um, moving forward, the reliability has gone up quite a bit on those and the cost outweighs some of the projectors and replacement of bulbs. So, that's something we're looking at there as a possibility. Um, wanted to mention about parent square. Um, we're still moving towards that, which going to replace school messenger, which is our mass notification where you get emails and phone call when a school delay or cancellation. Um, it'll still function very similar. it's just a new platform and allow us for more communication. So, that's coming. Um, I'm working on that now, but it won't
go live until June um when the school messenger expires. And then I know last month um Cindy, I think you asked about um the website. I just ran some numbers. Um I did get a report which I I put on your guys' report, but just a highlight, we've definitely seen number of clicks go up. I should be able to get more data as the year goes on. um because the analytics kind of just it started January one so it's kind of skewed but um definitely you know the number of clicks are up and most people accessing our site are on our mobile on our mobile devices which you can definitely tell that too. So um I just wanted to make sure and highlight that but Natalie has done a great job of the look and
um you know making that thing look really good um for sure. So um kudos to her on that. Any questions for me? Not a question, but I really appreciated seeing this data. >> Sure. Really? No problem. Yeah. Anytime. Just >> do the classrooms still have the old channel one TVs and then >> they're gone. >> Actually, I think they were gone when I >> Those are heavy. >> I don't know. They were beasts, but I think they they disappeared the same year I started, which was about >> 13 years ago. So, >> I think those actually went in the trash. We didn't have to sell them at public auction or anything like that. >> The precious metals. >> Yes. Exactly. I will say the uh you know the parents reactions to the new website has
been very very positive. >> Um and I know like even when we had a school delay or cancellation like you go to the website it gives you that >> like that popup alert which is I think it's awesome. So >> the the communication piece is going to really yeah >> blend that all together as we as we move forward with it. So it's it's exciting. The nice thing is too with the the adaptability to the cell phone or the mobile device, our other website didn't do that and so that makes it so much more user friendly. >> What you know you talked about clicks and impressions. >> How do you know an impression is there if they didn't click on something? >> Well, all the all the sites are being all the sites are tracked.
So Google's a good we actually use Google Analytics for our for our site. So um when you type in I you can see the number of people that type in Western School Corporation and just go to the page. Um so it knows somebody who's typed in Western School Corporation into Google search. So you can so it so an impression is when somebody goes to that site, but click is actually interacting with the page itself. It's looking kind of kind of tricky, but >> thank you for the technology lesson. >> You know, web web stuff is not my forte, but you know, enough to >> you, >> assistant superintendent. >> Thank you very much, Madame President, and uh welcome and good evening to everyone. Uh just a couple updates from our office. uh going to be
here in February having our Alice lockdown drill, which is um unfortunate that we do have to do those things, but we usually communicate that out to the parents just because at each building it looks a little bit different. Um when you're at an elementary K through two, the way that they go over that with their students versus a high school student is uh rightfully so a little bit different. Um, also in school safety, uh, we'll be having our second semester bus evacuation coming up in March when the weather hopefully gets a little bit better. Uh, transportation, um, a lot of good things to share there. Uh, we have our bus inspection coming up in March, um, which we're ready for, and we also have three new bus drivers that are going through training, which we're
also very happy about to try to get, um, more of those folks on the road to help our kids. Uh curriculum wise, uh it's been a pleasure working with Jordan Pridemore. I've been trying to give you guys updates. Um she's coming back. She's been back already once to meet with Kay in first grade, and then she'll be coming back here in a few weeks to meet with fourth, fifth, second, and third. Um and I I feel like in the meetings that I've been to, the teachers are really appreciating her help. um she's coming alongside them, working with them and trying to compile um some very uh nice curriculum maps that I will be able to share with you guys here very very soon. Um also just uh Mr. ZH and myself uh met with building
principles and ECAs to discuss curriculum budgets. Um and that was a very nice way to do that to work with the principles so then they can work with their teachers on what they might have to spend for resources. um and curriculum. So that is my report pending your questions. >> Questions? >> Do we have any bus retire at the end of the year? >> Uh we don't have any retiring that I know of right now. Uh but that uh I don't know. I haven't used Mark so this year. So I don't know if that's a retirement. >> He's put me on the shelf for this year. >> On the shelf. Um no no not that I'm aware of. Um we have had one that did uh Daniel Phillips. He left um but he was going
to Oklahoma to be with his grandkids. >> Um but he didn't mean >> three additions versus just replacing. We'll have three added total. >> Yeah. Yep. So we're looking good. >> Good. >> All right. Superintendent report. >> Yes. Thank you. A couple things. You've had an opportunity to review my report, but um I attended a couple things that I thought were um good events to attend. Uh one of them was the ribbon cutting for Invest that was at Taylor. Um I think you did we did a mission moment on the invest program and um the uh donation that they received from the community foundations and it was a really neat um opportunity to walk the classroom and see all the hands-on activities the students are are are um exposed to there and so that was
a great program. Also attended the um Cookamo CO cabinet meeting. am on on that cabinet and the students are um hosting their summit on the 25th and so if you are interested in attending that I can uh get you tickets. Um they have a couple guest speakers and they're doing like a taste of Cooko with some restaurants. um they're um serving food. And then um also um I'd like to thank our teachers, our support staff, our maintenance team, our administrators for um like that last two weeks of January that were just absolutely miserable. Um not going to lie, that was not a fun time. Uh but we really um really came together and did a nice job with our synchronous learning. Um, our maintenance guys were here at all hours removing snow upon snow upon
snow, which we still have out um outside because there are so many piles of of snow there. Um, and then also um a reminder that we have or we are hosting the 69th annual Howard County Music Festival here at Western on March 11th. Um, and so our teachers have been working really hard. Mr. uh Garber and um Mrs. um um goodness Baker, thank you. And uh and Autumn Smith um have all been working really hard in preparation for that. And then also uh just so you're aware, uh we do have uh a scheduled PDE e-learning day on um Wednesday the 25th. And um we are um also having kindergarten roundup that day. And so the primary school's been working really hard in preparation for that to give them a great experience. And our numbers uh
so far are looking pretty uh positive. Uh the numbers that we typically have at this time for roundup aren't as high as what they are right now. We're over 130 which is uh really really pretty solid. So we're excited about that. But are there any questions that you may have uh from my report? >> What time is that CEO summit? >> Um I believe it's from 10 to 2 or 9 to 2 somewhere around there. I know we're sending some kids from the high school um the student leadership academy uh kids are going on that day. But um I can get you exact dates and time or the date is 25th obviously, but I can get you exact times on that. Um, but I think it's 10 to two is actually like when the speakers
start. >> Where are they holding it >> at? Um, no. Um, um, oh goodness. The church there off 931. Um, >> crossroads. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. >> Any questions? >> Okay. All right. Uh, 2026 amendment to lease. >> All right. We have Mr. Quacam Bush here and Mr. McIntyre. Um, thank you for joining us today to talk about um, our amendment to lease and then um, our next step would be to uh, do the resolution, but we've got some information to share with you. >> Good evening, Mr. Deo. Thank you, Madam President, members of the board. Jeff Quacenbush. It's great to be with you this evening, and it's always nice to share positive and good news with you. I want to congratulate you on making it through the preliminary determination phase of
the petition remmonstrance process for the 2026 project. There was no petition remmonstrance requested for that project, nor was it for the 2028 project. So, we've gone through those two steps. Uh we will come back later in 2027 or 2028 on the 28 project, but uh tonight we're here to focus on the 26 project. Just by way of reminder to you, this lease amendment will do primarily four or five different projects around the the district. One big one is to renovate the intermediate school across the street here. You'll also be uh updating the chiller system here at the high school. And you'll also be addressing some athletic and extracurricular facilities outside uh including updating the turf at the football field and and some other related projects in the in the high school itself, including I think
what you call the orchard uh room uh which is where I guess the Apple computers used to be stored. So that's kind of unique. I didn't realize that until I was talking to Kyle the other day. I took chuckled at that. But anyway, um the financing is for an amount not to exceed $8 million for this project. uh it will have a maximum lease rental payment on an annual basis of $2.9 million, but that will not result in any increase in the current debt service fund tax rate based on the current assessed value. Your debt service fund tax rate is a little over 56 cents. I think it's 5667 or something like that. And we're estimating that right now with your debt falling off that you have together with bringing this on in 2026 and
starting repayment in 27 that you won't have any change in your debt service on tax rate with this project financing. We are authorizing the lease to be for a term not to exceed 22 years, but we actually anticipate it'll be less than that. We just want to keep that flexibility out there in case interest rates rise over the next uh several months before we sell those bonds. Uh right now, we are contemplating that it would probably be more like in the range of 15 to 17-year repayment, which is more typical with what you've had in your prior financings, but we do want to authorize that 22-year uh lease rental uh term if possible. In addition, each series of bonds that would be issued would not exceed 20 years, but we want to in case you're
going to issue multiple series of bonds and not issue them all at the same time. That's why we have the 22 years in there. Um, currently we had the building corporation meet earlier this evening to approve the lease amendment. They approved that. You are preliminarily approving the lease amendment this evening. If you adopt the resolution that's in your board packet, that will then set the date for the public hearing on the uh lease amendment, which would be April 21st at this same uh location at 6 PM. At that time, you would then receive public comment on the lease amendment. And then at the conclusion of that, you would consider the adoption of a resolution confirming the lease amendment and the financial parameters that I've estab identified for you here today. If you then do adopt
that resolution on April 21st, we'd publish one more notice for the notice of execution. Let that run for 30 days and then as early at the end of March or end of May, excuse me, we could then uh sell the bonds. But we won't sell the bonds until you actually have the project budget back in from the from PSI and others on what the total project will be. And then at that point in time, we'll sell the bonds and then and then close shortly thereafter. So with that, be happy to answer any questions you have regarding the lease amendment, which is very similar to the one you adopted in 24, which is very similar to the one you adopted in 22 and the one in 20. So, uh, this has been a process that you've
gone through several times before, but I I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. >> Okay. >> Are we ready for a motion or is that next? >> That will be next with the resolution itself. This is just a presentation. >> So, did anyone have any questions about this? Okay. >> Right. So then in your board packet is the resolution that approves the preliminarily the uh 2026 amendment to lease with the financial parameters that were in the presentation that I just provided. Uh it also reapproves the four three members of the building corporation which you already appointed uh back in January, but we always like to have that in the lease resolutions just to have that as a record for part of the bond transcript. And then it does authorize the establishment of the
public hearing to be held on April 21st for the lease amendment. So, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have regarding the lease resolution that's in your board packet. >> Okay. >> Motion. >> Yes. >> I'll make a motion to approve the resolution. >> I'll second it. >> Right. Does anyone have any questions? Discussion. >> All right. Would you vote, please? >> All right. The vote carried. >> Great. I will see you all in April then. Take care. >> Thank you, Mr. Quacush. Thank you, Mr. McIntyre. Appreciate Mr. McIntyre flew in from Florida today to be with us. So, thank you for bringing the warm weather with you. >> Well, thanks for that. >> Okay. Um, PSI presentation. >> All right. So, we have uh Chris Gity and Tony Kikondol from PSI. I think
you have all been with both these gentlemen. Um they have a presentation over uh the project um facility improvements uh for 2026. Uh the hard copy that you're receiving from Kyle is the same thing that you're going to see up here. So they're going to give you kind of that 10,000 ft view of our project. So welcome guys. Thanks for driving up and spending uh Tuesday afternoon evening with us. >> We're pleased to be here. So, thank you for that introduction and had this issue last time, too. I'll just kind of hunch over, but um um and Laura, are you going to help me drive on this one, too? Thank you very much. So, that's why I wanted to provide a hard copy, but uh yeah, good evening, Madam President, members of the board. Thank
you for having both myself and and Chris Gity back. Um thank you, Barry. Appreciate that. My name is Tony Kaikondall, business development manager, and Chris G is our project development architect. So we were here last month and we kind of shared with you at that time we were going through a lot of the design and we just started kind of our competitive bidding process. So we are wrapping that up. Um this is a perfect time for us to provide a more inde like in-depth uh update for you all. Um what I can share with you while we're still vetting some of the final bids kind of reviewing the final scope which you all will be part of. We came in I'm going to say essentially on budget. I'm actually going to say a little bit
under budget in many of those areas. So, we're always extremely pleased uh when we get results like that. We had a lot of great contractor participation uh and interest in your project. So, I think that kind of funneled into really those positive results. Um and you can go to the next slide as well too, Laura. And just a kind of a real quick high level reminder of who is performance services just in case the community's here would like to know or they'd like a little more information about you know what our credentials but uh we are design build organization and really for the past 28 years we've been serving K- through2 public schools with renovation and construction needs. Um and some of the stats you'll see on there just kind of hopefully highlight that this
is kind of what we do. We've done a lot of it and I mentioned we're in 19 states but we were founded here in Indiana. Our largest amount of work that we do and the schools that we work with are still here in Indiana but we have been growing during that time period. How we're a little bit different um and maybe say a lot different but we have both our design so we kind of have the architects and engineers as well as our project managers and construction managers all under the same roof. So it's all inhouse. Uh it's very streamlined and convenient for you all as a district because you have one contract. So for better, for worse, it's one phone call. It's our responsibility to solve that for you. Uh we provide a no
change order guarantee. So once we land on on the price of the project, that's the same price of the project at the end. So I will never come back here and be presenting a change order to you all. Uh it's already we already have a no change order guarantee. Next slide. the primary reason that we're here tonight. Um, you heard from Mr. Quacenbush, so he actually did a pretty good job. He kind of rattled right through the kind of the primary projects that are being contemplated. We really want to I want to have Chris walk through this. I'd like to have Chris walk you through a little bit more uh of the details of what's occurring at each of these different areas uh of improvement. And we just kind of want to make sure you're
familiar then on our next step. um which you know uh spoiler alert you're probably aware but there's a special board meeting next week um so you'll probably see us again uh if we're asked to come back and then maybe one more slide please Laura and then I'll transition and I just wanted to highlight I should have had this slide a little bit sooner but it's not just me and Chris so right there's been a whole team of individuals here that have really helped us design um these projects develop these projects and come back to you all with the pricing so Um, just want to make sure you know we got you get the full support not just from both of us but all of us back back at the office here in Indie. All right,
at this time I'm going to turn it over to Chris Gity and he's going to walk you through the fun stuff. Thank you. >> I'll just have to lean down a little bit. Uh, thank you everybody if you want to go to the to the next one. Um, as we go through this scope, we do have some images. We do have some text in there. If you do have questions and please jump in. Um, we're happy to to kind of field any of the concerns or questions that you may have. Uh we'll start with the athletic fields. So we worked really closely with your athletic director Aaron on this. Uh the the goals of this project is really to modernize your football field. So this would include resurfacing the running track. So we're going to
scrape off the current uh track system that's out there. The asphalt's in really good shape so we don't have to replace most of that. Go through and recote that so that'll last um sorry significantly longer. Uh and then take out the current grass turf out there. come in with a new artificial turf system and so that um you don't have to mow, you don't have to recode it. Um that is going to be your your permanent artificial turf system. Uh part of that we are replacing some of the time clocks because those are those are pretty old and falling apart. Uh and some of the athletic jumps in the in the field there, those are also going to get replaced because you there's some grass growing through those. So, um this is the time to
modernize all of the pieces that are out there. Uh the bell system is going to stay. Uh we know that's very important to your you and your community. So So that's going to stay. Don't worry about that. But otherwise, the rest of the field is going to be modernized. And you can see the image here. Um introducing some of the logos uh onto the fields. >> Questions in the field? >> Will be everything within the circle of the track will be turf. >> Correct. Yes. Everything from the from that in on the inside. We're actually doing a concrete curb around the edge as well. that just adds to the longevity of it so the concrete the asphalt on the edge doesn't um crumble away. Uh and actually on the entrance there's a little red box
there. It's not much but I think it makes a significant impact. All of the rain from the football or from the parking lot and all the wind and all the um stuff from the uh farm fields all would flow and sit right on top of that uh the start line for the track. So, uh, what we're doing as part of this is redoing some of that concrete there and putting a drain down the center of it. So, all of the water coming from the football or from the parking lot would hit the drain and go out instead of pooling nicely where all your runners are going to be. >> So, the um long jump, triple jump, I didn't even know we had a triple jump. >> Okay. >> All right. High jump. Um, are those
going to be turf also? Uh so those are going to go back to uh asphalt with the new coating on that as well. They're going to go back in the same spot, but we're going to replace them in the same location just because they're starting to fail. Um none of those are are traditional in turf. Those are always the IHSA requires those to be asphalt. >> Hey Mark, the p the shot put and discus that that's still holder, doesn't it? >> The discus is off. >> Yeah, but I mean as far as drainage, do we still have trouble there drainage? >> The drainage we did back in 2020. >> Okay. I have bathroom used to have a river. Yeah. There that's been fixed and that also helps with some of the drainage of the building
and then the shot put area wasn't impacted with any of that. >> When will work on this begin? >> So, we're going to be starting the the construction here this spring as soon as track is done. So, we've been working very closely with your ad. Uh as soon as we can get on the field um we're going to be on the field uh starting to tear that up. in the duration of that project. >> Uh we are going to be uh done for your first football game which is August 26. >> We don't host we don't host the scrimmage or the first >> deal. That's good. Yeah. Don't quote me on the exact date, but >> by the Yeah, that's fine. By the football game. So >> first game, >> but the track service itself
will be similar to what we have. >> Yep. So the layout of the track is going to be the same. Um so the asphalt, fortunately, we don't have to replace that. So all of that's getting um the scraping which is just the rubber topping and then a new modern system is going to get installed on top of that. >> Was that last? >> Uh sorry. And then a new uh athletics running surface is going to get installed on top of it. >> A different kind of >> uh different surface. Yes. But same layout, same organization. >> Like it'll still be six like we won't have we don't have room to add lanes or anything. So, will we um you'll be totally complete by the first football game or only the necessary areas? >> Uh so,
the entire field will be complete by the the start of the football game um because there's not really a good way to to do parts and pieces. >> Okay. >> There are probably maybe some repairs that we need to come back afterwards. Once it's complete, we'll find some stuff that we need to fix. Um but you'll be able to be on the entire field. >> Okay. >> Is the logo. I like the logo. That's That's the one that Aaron likes. I like it as well. >> I'm not going to lie, I was hesitant, but now that I've seen it on the field, >> it actually looks really good. >> If you One of the things that we looked at actually was um if you look at Caramel's field, they have the Greyhound that kind of
goes from like the 40 to 40 or whatever. And it's just kind of a neat >> neat look. And so that's kind of what we were hoping for uh from that standpoint. And then I know we'll have the markings for soccer if I know it we'll have to like I don't know paint those on. >> I think I think we're looking at more of the ticks >> so that we could use use the paint if we needed it. The the other thing that we are doing um is and it's not in this diagram but we've talked about it is in the um north east over by the inn. you're going to have baseball like a home home plate where then you would be able to have kind of it'd be a short porch right field
but you'd have center field left field you'd have the bases um that are are measured out so you could do an infield and then in the southwest corner where the S is in Panthers you would have the same for softball >> for what >> softball so you'd have a home plate like batters box and then >> you could run a like today you could actually have a practice out on the turf if you needed to like that. So that big logo I mean I've seen athletes slip on those logos like >> so so this material um it's all the same material it's just different color strands so it's not painted on there um the strands themselves are different colors so that when they install it it's going to be rolled out as as big sheets
>> shouldn't any difference in texture >> n field or wherever it is logo or no logo it's going to be the same field Good. >> Okay. >> Any other questions? >> Looks good. >> All right. Uh we're going to move over to the intermediate schools. So, this um is as Mr. Probush said, the other large part of this. Uh we really do appreciate the time. I know your entire staff uh met with us uh individually as well. So, we were able to make sure that every one of their needs and questions or concerns were were addressed on this. So, uh, we do appreciate the time. I know that was a busy day for everybody, but um, I think it really helps the how it ended up. So, if you want to go to the next
plan, um, we're going to dive in a little bit more to each one of these rooms. I know this is kind of an aerial view of your current building. Um, but we're looking at a couple different areas of of renovation. The the biggest one is what you see in orange. So, that is all of your classrooms from the 1960s, the original buildings. Um, we'll go into what those look like here in a second, but that is your majority of renovation. So, that's new flooring. Uh, that's going to be painting the rooms. Um, the big change though is the cabinetry in there. All of the old 1960 wood cabinets is done a very good job and lasted this long. Um, but we're going to take that out and put in some new mounted cabinetry into each
one of those rooms. Uh, as as uh Craig had indicated earlier, there is going to be some technology upgrades this contemplated as well. We do have some renderings of this. The technology is not shown in those renderings, but know that um it is part of the pro it could potentially be part of the project if if everybody would like it to be. So when you see that technology is still there, uh we're doing new marker boards, new tack boards as well in those rooms. So as well as doors and door hardware, which is just to make it a little bit more secure and ADA accessible. The restrooms, it's a little blue box. It's right across from the cafeteria. Those are staff restrooms. Um we are completely renovating those to make those ADA accessible. Uh right
now they're really tiny to get people in and out and they're not accessible for anybody in a wheelchair that has mobility issues. So those are going to be completely rest renovated into new restrooms. Uh we are looking at a separate price as well for the cafeteria. Um so that is pretty simple for us. We are not touching the kitchen or serving area. So this is just looking inside the cafeteria. Um it is new flooring so it would match everything else. Uh some painting. We are going to keep the markings and the the logos that are currently on the wall. Um but new painting and then some new acoustical wall panels in there. The room just gets really loud with a lot of kids talking. So looking at potentially some of that. And then the red
areas is the original office before the 22 or sorry 2007 project where the buildings were combined. That was the old office. So we're doing similar work in there. So, new flooring, new paints, new doors, um some new cabinetry as well. We have a separate uh price as well for the purple area. So, those are the two um additions that were put on in 2007 and 2020. We're not doing much to those rooms, but we are looking at a separate cost to go into those spaces if you guys so choose just to match some of the flooring and some of the paint just to make the whole building look continuous. Those numbers are are broken out separately as well. That would also be technology correct upgrade in that this area >> as well as technology >>
questions. Um what is the flooring in the classrooms? What is that going? >> Sure. Um so we're going to go back with uh what's called LVT luxury vinyl tile. Uh it's the modern version of the 12 x 12 VCT, the hard tile that you see everywhere else. Uh the benefit of that is you don't have to wax it. So you just wet mop it and it gets it gets cleaned up. So it saves on maintenance, it saves on uh your support staff. It's a durable surface that you can clean. >> Okay. And then the hallways is going to be the same. >> Yep. So the hallways are going to say Tzel. So those are the concrete floors that are there. They're beautiful. We're not going to touch those because those things last forever. And just
uh just so you're familiar with LVT, the high school hallway and the commons. We just put LVT in there. And and it is it's something that is less maintenance. We don't have to wax that space. And then also one that we've had LVT in for quite a while, probably at least two, if not three years now, is the cafeteria in the primary school is LVT. So that's the the difference in and and again, it's it's a better form of maintenance for us. >> Does the warranty on the LBT 30 years or what? >> Um I apologize. I don't know the warranty on uh the LBT off to top of my hand. Um, I mean, I do know it's a it's a thicker system, so it lasts longer. I just I apologize. I don't have the
full warranty, but we can find that out for you. >> I may have one other comment, too, that may help as you're thinking about flooring because we do both products. The BCT product is becoming less and less available. The lines are discontinued by the time you put them in because the shift in the product line has moved that Chris more this LBT type product. So, from a support maintenance availility to add to it in the future. I say nine out of 10 times that's the direction that we go. Every once in a while there'll be a district that already has a bunch of good looking BCT and it's pretty standard will add to it. That's the last four or five years that's been the exception. So that trend in availability and colors are all kind
of >> I would also add and I I'd be happy to show this to you, but you can actually hear a difference like when you're walking on LVT versus VCT. LVT is much quieter. I don't know why. I don't know the science behind that or anything, but I can walk you around a couple spots and let you experience the difference if you'd like to try it sometime. What do we have in the high school classrooms and the new wing? >> Yeah, that didn't last very long. >> I had another question. The the new classrooms >> um you said you weren't going to do much to those. >> Yeah. So, the the ones in purple um the intent and we have this as a separate price for you to consider is just really trying then to
match what we're doing in the other ones. So, the whole building looks continuous. So, it's um it's paint, it's flooring, and then we adding an extra tackboard in there. All your teachers have uh used one of the walls as their own little personal tack board and put some stuff up there. We're just trying to put a tack board there to match it. And then technology. >> Will they have the cubbies? >> Uh they would not. So, we would not be with the exception of the science the old computer lab which has I think two cabinets in there and that's it. Um currently not planning on going in and tearing all of that out. Uh, unfortunately it's it's a big expense um to tear out a lot of old of good stuff to to put cubbies
in. >> But the they have those hooks now, right, Jamie? But when I was in uh a couple of the rooms, they weren't being used >> because the kids couldn't reach them. They were too high. >> So that that's not going to help us if we to me if we don't do something about those if they're not functional. Yeah, we can we can look at that. But like the main cabinetry um like the main closets and the um the the cabinetry along the wall uh where we're replacing those as well. They those rooms actually have more cabinet space than the current ones do, but we could we can look at the hooks and things like that and see if that's something we need to make an adjustment on. >> Laura, can you go to uh
page 11? That's exactly what they're talking about. So like that cabinetry there, that's all new there, right? >> Correct. So this this is a rendering of one of the typical classrooms. That back area there you see with all the cubbies. Uh that is all new. So that is where your old tall wood cabinets are. Those are all coming away. Those I believe have door. I think we just rendered them with them open so you can see what they are. >> So would like each cubby be for a kid? Is that what >> correct? >> We would assume. Okay. >> Good. I mean some like right now some of the cabinets are for the kids and much of it's for books and supplies and things like that. But the other the other thing that you and
actually I think it's the next one over what we don't have >> because if you look at the cabinetry along the windows um and that's on page 13 I'm sorry >> or or actually on >> you see on page >> yeah like on on >> page 14 >> I'm sorry >> 13 >> I can't >> I'm not sure which one but the the cabinets along the side there those are the old um registers And so they're actually tearing those out. So you're gaining more depth in those cabinets from that standpoint, which is huge space saver. >> Yeah. All the old cabinets are going to dry things more. >> That was my old classroom. >> Yeah. So all the old old cabinets, the metal cabinets on the wall, they had all the pipes run behind that
for the registers, the heat, all that's getting torn out. So we're able to make them from shallow to deep. All of those. Also, we're going to add doors uh because teachers have a lot of things. Um so, putting behind doors makes them a little more secure and make them a little nicer. All of the doors in the rooms that are the teachers, so all the storage cabinets, all of these doors, they're all going to be locked through school so teacher can secure all of their things behind the doors. >> Is there any I'm not sure if there is or not. Is there any sinks in the intermediate classrooms? I know there is primary. There are sinks um with the exception of the art room because they need them. Um all of those sinks were going
to be removed. >> Okay, that's my thought. Yeah. >> Yeah. A lot of them have become in not usable and they've become kind of storage areas and so but the art room is actually going to gain another sink. >> Good. >> Yes. >> So we'll have two sinks in there. So, um I think this one is actually the So, when we talked about the general classrooms, we also modernizing both the R room and the music room. Um music room is going to get new casework uh designed for music. So, the hooks to hang the guitars on, open shelving, and they preferred open shelving for the xylophone and all of the other material in there. Um so, that room is also going to get completely renovated as is the art room. So, you see the rendering
of that the art room here. Uh same concept. Uh all of this has been designed for the art teach working working with the art teacher and what that room is going to be. Uh we're going to have two sinks. So we have a it's a little more shallow hand sink so people can wash their hands. We also still have then a deep sink um to wash any of the art supplies or the bowls or anything else that they're doing. So, um, all of that, including the the, um, accordion door in the back, that's going to go away. Um, with then new modern casework and cabinetry designed for our rooms. >> I'm jealous. Are they really getting new desks? >> Uh, the desks on all of these are not part of ours. We had, we put
them in there just to make it look like it's room. >> Um, >> please tell me they're getting new tables. that that's our that's not part of their project. But but one of the things that we want to do is put furniture in those places. >> 35 years I was there the same ones and I think they're still the same ones now. >> Thank you for being frugal in Mr. >> Scrub those tables. >> So we've worked very closely with our teacher and music teacher as well as all of the other staff just to make sure that all of the cabinets is is how they like it. You'll see in here there's a lot of pullout shelves. she wanted a lot of um things for large paintings or anything else. So, we worked with them
very closely on what that should look like. >> So, of that uh meetings with the staff and everything, um do you think you reached 98% of what they requested or what percentage do you think we were able to accomplish? >> I believe we've probably covered most of um what they requested. I can't think of anything offhand that they specifically asked for that we we said no to. And obviously that's something anything they brought to us. I know you spent the whole day with us as well um just as as a representative of the administration that if there's something that was asked for that was outside of what we were looking to do that was discussed in the >> I have not there there are also some things that, you know, what I would say we
could dream about, but then the behind the scenes things of, well, you know, we'd have to puncture the roof and um, you know, um, go through the floor to put a new pipe in or there's some of that that it's like we'd love to be able to do that, but there's much more work that would have to be done to get to that level. And I can I can share some more examples of that later with you. But um but for the most part, I think from the aesthetics and the design, I know the cabinets especially um like what what is a drawer and what's not a drawer. They all went through a lot of that together. >> So Mark, will we be using our same desks and stuff until we can >> and again
that's because it's a two-year process. I think what what we'll do is probably phase that in because there there are some desks >> it's not part of this. >> No. Yeah. And some of the desks, if you remember about six, seven years ago, we bought a bunch of new equipment. Now, also we want to make sure that it's it makes sense in in those spaces as well. So, we're gonna once we want to get this rolling before we start worrying about that because if this doesn't roll, then we're not going to do the other. So, so but yes, um the equipment is something that we definitely want to go through and look and see what works, especially even for the flooring. Uh make sure that it's most compatible with that flooring as well. >> I
do have a question. So, I I know it's a two-year phase that we're doing this, right? So when it comes to the bids pricing difference from 2026 2027 like are they are we locked in with 2026 prices? >> Uh no. So when we priced it go >> say we actually price that. So we kind of shared what that project schedule was. So the contractors are able to price what they need to do in 2026 for that time frame and then they can kind of come up with an estimate of what any of those wrecked into that. Yeah, it won't change for us. >> Okay, that's why that's why I want to make sure. Okay, thank you. >> Are we are we doing anything with any of the other rooms like say the counselor's room or
>> that's the that's the red >> Yeah. Yeah. So, if you go back a couple slides to nine. >> Okay. >> Yeah. There. Yeah. So, the red box there, that was the old office. So, um I think you have some staff in there. Counselors title one is there. Are they in there maybe? Um that are in there. So, we're also doing new floors, new doors, the old window there that's covered up with paper. We're going to take that out and fill that in. Um and then the other side of that was I think it's the in school suspension or the speech room. Um that room is also going to get renovated. The restroom in there we're not touching. Um but the rest of the room is going to get new cabinetry. That one I think
also continues to have a sink in that room as well. >> Thank you. U we do appreciate working your staff. I mean we've also learned a lot. They every teacher has little mailboxes in the room. So we were able to make sure that we incorporated that. So that was a very fruitful day of conversations. All right. If you want to keep scrolling through um if you want to just keep going to 14 um you can just see some of the renderings of of each one of those rooms. Uh, sorry, I keep going to the next one. Um, we talked about this already a little bit. We are to in the arts, music, the old what we're calling the old office, which is the the counselor space, the corridors. Um, we are painting those. There are
some renderings here in a second. We know the the panther doesn't have the red tongue in it, but we had that's the image that we had there. So, we're working with a a company to do that. Um, cafeteria in the staff restrooms. So, if you want to keep going to the next one. So that's a rendering of of the hallways. We are working with this with the a company to do this. This is not the final rendering specifically. There's no red of the tongue. Um but we are doing some improvements into the hallways the the furniture and this is also not included. This is just a potential way you can do some layouts. So >> Oh, then go to the next one. >> Jamie, what do they use that area? >> Dang it. >> We
have um it's used all day long. We have small groups like during our pause time meet there. We have lunch groups that meet there. We have some kids that just prefer wider area that will mentors come in. They use the space. It's always just some images. So, um, every room is going to get a new tackboard on the hallway as well, so every teacher can display student work. Um, but it's going to be in a I'll say controlled or at least in in a space that they are able to to work with themselves. >> Bless you. >> Go to the next one. All right. Uh, the next one is the orchard room. Uh, Mr. Quacenbush, of course, uh, stole the thunder of explaining why it was called the orchard room. It's where you used to
have all your apple products, so they creatively called it the orchard room. Um that is the in the high school across from the cafeteria uh by the staircase going upstairs. It was an old storage bookshop um a little bit of everything. So uh part of this project is going to be renovating this to really be a multi- function educational environment. So there's some interior new walls that are getting tearing out and really open the room up. Um new finishes in there as well. So flooring, paint uh and marker boards and some uh technology support in that space as well. all the stuff in there, Mark. >> Some of it can meet the dumpster. >> But then there's a couple other spaces that we'd probably do. >> True. >> Aaron has like, you know, extra Letterman
jackets and things like basketball nets, softballs. >> Yeah. So, we've got a couple other spots that we have in mind for for him. >> You want to go to the next one? Also, just and I may be stealing your thunder here, Chris. I apologize, but I don't know how familiar you are with that room, >> but it has a very strong >> chlorine odor to that. So, do you want to explain what will happen to that? >> Yeah. So, the old HVAC system in there, uh, it just exhausts. So, the original design brought in all the air from the hallway, which this happened to be next to the pool. So all of the wonderful chlorine smell gets out of the out of the pool into the hallway and the exhaust system pulls all of that
into the room. So uh your technology room used to be covered had a lot of chlorine smell to it which is very unique. Um what we are doing as part of this project is we're actually going to positively slightly positively pressure this room. So it's going to have a new unit ventilator in there. So it's got heating and cooling. Um but by doing that slightly more pressure in there it's pushing air out. So you should not be getting the chlorine smell from the hallway >> and we'll have we'll have access to outside air which is actually >> like makes it code compliant. >> Yeah. Right now is just bringing hallway air in which you know could have a lot high CO2 in it. Um by bringing the outside air you're getting fresh oxygen into the
room so kids can stay awake. Uh and as well as then flushing making keeping the chlorine smell out. Um Mark, sorry. >> Um since we're putting marker boards and tack boards and classroom technology, is this going to be used as a classroom? >> It right now it would be flexible space. So could it be used as a classroom? Yeah, it could be used as a meeting room. It could be used as a conference room. It could be used for um collab space if let's say kid has a online class that they need to take and they need to lay in some place. Um it could be for the um student leadership academy to meet in there during their time. I think it it allows us to do pretty much whatever we want in that space.
Right now there's >> a big room. >> It Yeah, it's over a thousand square feet. And actually, one of the things that they I learned is that if it's over 1,000 square feet, you have to have two exits >> that are far apart. So that it will be 999 square feet >> because they're putting a closet in there to make it 999 square ft. So that we don't have to put another door in that space. >> They're too close together though. >> They're too close together. >> Yeah. To be considered Yeah. to be considered one space. So, so like that, you know, when we think of, you know, where the future of high school is going, >> we kind of have an idea of, you know, work-based learning and, you know, um, dual credits and
opportunities that aren't even out there yet. this is a space that we don't necessarily have to maybe embrace some of that whether it's hey the workbased learning kids are coming in for their own meetings or or whatever. So it just it's a it's a kind of a clean slate that gives us the flexibility to make it into something that is state-of-the-art um and gives us room to grow if we if we need that space. It could also be something where, you know, we we're right across from the um uh case rooms. If we need to have a case conference right across from there, then you move some tables around and you have a case conference there. I I think there's just a lot of potential in that space. But because we have outside air now,
we can really have people in that room. We shouldn't have people in that room without that outside air. >> Yeah. Way up. I was a I was an assist in that back in the day when it was a bookstore. So now it makes sense of why I have issues now. >> That's why you were falling asleep in there so often. >> Yeah, it makes sense. It was the chlorine. >> All right. So, um, last but certainly not least, uh, is your chiller replacement. So, the high school chiller, um, replacing that, that is a picture of what it is. Uh, replacing the one unit. So, one really big unit. Um, we're actually going back with two smaller size units. So, that gives you two benefits. one is redundancy. Um, so if one of the units does
go down, you do have the other one that should be able to hold most of your building. Uh, it also allows you a lot of energy efficiency. So except for the really hot times of the year, if it's early spring, um, or even through the mid-spring, early fall where it's still warm but not incredibly hot, you only have to run one Schuler, which saves you a lot on energy costs. So that's the other part of the project that we're we're going to contemplate. The other thing that uh they explained to us that I I liked about the two chiller option, especially if you know obviously if one went down, you'd still have a chiller option, but even though they're two smaller units, we actually have more capacity than the one large unit. Therefore, if we
would ever have to add on to the high school, our chillers have the capacity to chill those areas rather than having to do a a rooftop unit to chill that space like we have done uh throughout the years and so on. So, that is a nice feature of having those two two units rather than one. >> So, when it comes to the chili replacement, is it one of those things we're ordering now for 2027 2028? So, we're ordering it as soon as we get approval um because those they have long lead times. Um we're working on when we get the actual delivery date. We're either going to replace it this summer um to make sure that it's done uh or we're going to do it at in the fall after cooling season is done. So,
soon as we get that date, we'll work with the administration on when that would be, but it's going to be 2026 when it'll be coming just summer or fall. talking to John, we can we can limp limp it along >> if we if we have to. If ideally if he said if we could do it now, it'd be great. But at the same time, you know, if it if we're past cooling season and install it like we did the intermediate school, that relieves a little bit of pressure on getting it done in time to to cool. >> So Oh, go ahead. >> Oh, good. Ladies first. >> All right. Is is this one of those um projects where we can get some kind of a rebate for updating it and saving energy or not? Thanks.
>> You didn't say that there was I think you would have told me if there was or maybe it's just not very >> Thanks. >> So, because of the age of our existing one, are we going to have to affect any of the evaporator condenser lines, change any of that because of the sizes of the new ones? So, I the engineer is not here to be able to tell you exactly what parts and pieces are in there. Um, yes, I believe the lines are getting replaced because it's going to get reconfigured slightly. Instead of >> this direction, we're going to do two this way. Um, so the lines outside are being replaced on the inside. I believe the >> inside will be inside the requirement now. So all that's kind of incorporated. So it'll be
I'll just say like the latest and greatest of >> Yeah. >> So our internals and the infrastructure and our buildings are okay. >> Correct. >> They're not worn out either then. So Okay, good. >> Then go to the next one. Um so looking at phasing, we kind of mentioned a couple times that this is really a two summer project. Um, don't take this because I know we need to work exact on where and which rooms exactly. Um, but our intent is really to do two summers. Uh, first summer is to take to to tackle one of the hallways. Um, and a lot of the public spaces that we can and then the second summer, summer of 2027, we'll come back get the other classrooms that we were unable to finish this summer, this upcoming summer.
And then the hallways we because we're doing enough work in the hallways, we want to do that last as we work out inside of the building. >> Oh, sorry. classroom. >> Classroom 2026 as well as the athletic fields uh orchard room as well as the chiller. >> The the chiller depending again on the arrival could creep into 2027 just if we do it over the winter time. >> Any other questions on the scope before we talk about next steps? Would it be would it be possible to do all of the intermediate in the summer 26 and hold off on the orchard room >> or there's not enough difference in >> Yeah, unfortunately there's not. I mean the orchard room is fortunately relatively small. Um the intermediate school it's it's a lot um in summers as
the balance cander gets shorter and shorter. um we didn't feel that it was as able to do but I think to the point earlier um everybody's under contract for this schedule so there's going to be no increases um they're able to purchase materials now so the cabinets or whatever could be purchased early so um to avoid any of the increases in cost >> the the other thing to take into consideration with the intermediate school is we're emptying those classrooms that are getting worked on and moving their stuff and so the plan is to move it onto the other side of the building and then move it back. So that gives us space uh to to make those moves as well. >> Any other questions on scope? >> All right. >> Last slide here. So um
yeah, I just kind of wanted to summarize and first off just just thank everybody. I know this was a more of a lengthy kind of presentation, but uh we certainly wanted to make sure that you all had the opportunity to see each of these spaces, ask your questions to get a better understanding so when you work with your administration between now and when you see us next week, uh you feel pretty confident about the direction that we're going. Um, our next steps here, I know there's some uh resolutions and approvals potentially for tonight, but we will look to come back next Tuesday. Um, really that will kind of be that final approval to say, "Yes, let's move forward. Let's kind of move forward with these improvements. We'll get the contracts in place and we'll get
to work. We'll order the equipment and kind of schedule that work." Um, it's not too at this point, you know, we're kind of we're not like nervous, but it's one of those if if I appreciate you all being willing to hold that special board meeting. If this pushes too far into March, the question about the chiller even being a potential for us to get it done in the summer is gone. Right now, it's still there. Some of those other things with the casework in the classrooms, that's another kind of long lead item. if we don't release that and get those going, even some of the classrooms we hope to get done in 2026 might get shifted to 2027. We just rather not play that game. So, I just want to say thanks so much. Um,
we look forward to seeing you all uh next week as well. And we are finally done. >> We'll sit down and thank you for your time. >> Thank you. >> Good stuff. Yes. All right. Um, letter. Oh, we don't get the letter. >> Yep. Yeah, actually we do. Yeah. So, so for the design, uh, the progressive design build steps, um, we have two supporting documents and then a letter of intent. Um, and so we've worked with the Rollins group to, um, have our technical review committee uh, make the following recommendations. Uh number one is that we will um Western School Corporation will select performance services as the design builder for the 26 corporation facilities improvement project subject to final negotiations and terms and conditions of that contract which is next week. But more importantly, number
two is that Western School Corporation will issue a letter of intent and notice to proceed with the step one progressive design build services to performance services for a step one fixed fee of $217,000. What that does is that's all the work and the uh intellectual rights to all of that material. That's what we're really uh submitting to today is to have uh that approved u by the board. So there is a letter of intent. The other supporting document is a letter from performance services that they can substantially complete this project for uh that budget amount that was mentioned of I I can't see that far. 77 775 >> 7,750,000. So, so I'm asking for the board to approve um the letter of intent to move uh into uh this agreement with performance services. >> So
moved. >> Second. >> All right. Is are there any questions? >> I I have a question. You said that this project came in a little under budget. >> Do you mind sharing what that underbudget amount is? That's a fair question. I'll kind of give you a broad overview of that. As Chris was describing, we had several different kind of pricing breakouts, which we do intentionally when we work with schools such that you build up to what your allocated budget is. Um, usually we'll design a little bit more than what the budget is in hopes that, >> okay, >> you get favorable pricing, you might be able to add an alternate or two work. So, three or four of those came in under a couple were over, but in general, we were less than we had
estimated that 7.75, >> but there's always other >> considerations that we're not involved with. You mentioned furniture. >> Yeah. >> Other things that your administration might say we need to >> Yeah. So, so when it comes to like our bond compared to this, there's other things that we'll want to take into consideration from that standpoint. But >> very good. We're very very pleased with the pricing that we received in the participation. >> Yeah. What's what's really challenging is if it would come in their estimation or their numbers would come in at 10 million or something like that. That's when we're like uh oh. >> So So yeah, it's it's good that the estimations came in very accurate. >> Right. Any other questions? >> Please vote. I did. It says yes. >> It's literally highlighted. >>
Yeah. Carrie. >> All right. Thank you guys for coming and presenting tonight. >> Thank you. >> Okay. >> Um, >> are they free to go? could stick around. >> I think they're good to go. I mean, yeah. >> Go go go enjoy the rest of the basketball game. >> That's right. >> At least they boil her down. >> That's true. >> Okay. Disposition of checks. >> Sorry, that's me. >> All right. Uh, you probably remember this from years past, but Indiana code 5-11-10.5-2 says all warrants and checks drawn upon public funds of a political subdivision, i.e. schools that are outstanding of pay for a period of two two or more years for the last day of December are void. So, we need to go through uh checks that have not been deposited and void those
at this time every year. Uh the next page you'll see the totality individual checks that have been voided uh and the total of that total being $1,16024. I will say that number is less than previous years and will probably continue to decline uh due to I mentioned this with Vicki is Vicki got it started us on a so rather than checks being going out we issue a ton less checks than what we used to and now we have direct electronic payments. So obviously that means less checks are not getting cashed. Good for the individuals that we deserve the payment. We want to get them paid. Uh but it also means at this time uh there's not as many people that haven't cash their checks to where that's down a little bit. >> All right. Is
there a motion? >> I approve this position of checks. >> We'll second >> questions. All right. Please vote. And the motion approved. >> Okay. >> Western Intermediate School fifth grade novels approval. >> Yes. Asking for your approval for the novels that were on uh display almost 60 days. I can't remember the Yeah, maybe 58. So, asking for your approval uh for those novels presented. >> Is there a motion? >> I'll make a motion to approve the novels. >> Second. >> Any questions? >> Uh yeah, I've got one. So, um just curious and I don't know the exact procedure or just these were good novels, don't get me wrong, and some of them need to be brought up the Holocaust because it's being forgotten about. Um, the other one's a life issue and the other one
in the jungle thing was kind of a, you know, real things that have happened, fictional mostly. Um, is there anything maybe in the future we could look for some a little more positive? Those were kind of serious life issues, all three of them. I'm just curious some somebody asked me, have they all got to be serious like that or not dark? But you know what I'm saying? >> Sure. >> Just wondering. >> Okay. Just a thought. >> That's also something too. Working with Jordan Pridemore, we may be able to find some other options uh when we're doing the curriculum mapping. So, >> um that No, that's a very good point. Sometimes things dark and dreary and we find something a little more positive. Okay. >> All right. Would you please vote? Okay. Motion carried. Swim
lessons and swim team. >> Yes. Asking for your approval for the swim lessons and swim team um that are presented. >> So move. >> I'll second. >> Any questions? Okay. Please vote. Okay, motion carried. Legislative update. >> Just to give you a brief update, we are coming towards the end of our Indiana General Assembly session. Um just the last we're over halfway just actually the last couple weeks here. Um just a couple things for you to be aware of. I I would say uh we're um definitely not tracking the number that we started with. We're down to about 18 bills that we're tracking, but a couple uh that you can just be aware of is Senate Bill 76 is on immigration matters. Um that just gives us um that's going to probably change maybe some
of um our um Neola policies. Uh so we're just going to have to monitor uh what requirements are determined or restrictions that are made. Um Senate Bill 78 uh is the wireless communication device policy. Um, and again, that's going to change updates of our policies, enforcement procedures, things like that. Um, the IGA has really worked with us on that because originally it was get buy the bag and then figure it out. Now there's some uh things that they've worked with with us on that. Um, Senate Bill 199 is various education matters. This is not necessarily directly uh impacting us, but it is all of the social media uh restrictions. So that could have some indirect impacts on us with um things that uh might involve digital citizenship or how we may communicate through social media.
Uh 1098 is work-based learning liability and that is actually looking like um the employer will have uh some of that responsibility on liability, but it's also going to maybe uh change some of the um requirements of how we formalize consent in those um in those agreements. Uh 1266 uh Department of Education and Education Matters. going to be some of the new um responsibilities of uh lists of lists of pathways. They think some of that is actually going to maybe change in our accountability um model uh when that gets approved hopefully on the 14th of of March. So, some of that may not go through the bill, but may go through uh the accountability model. Uh House Bill 1360 is on access to public records. Um, I get act I get requests for public records multiple
times from multiple agencies that we don't know if they're legit or not. So, there's changing some restrictions and some um safeguards in that. And so, a lot of times they ask for very general stuff and it needs to be more precise. And so, um, that's going to help hopefully help us out in the long run. But th those are just a a a number, like I said, a Reader's Digest version of of that. There's been a couple bills that have died here recently, but we may see get spun back into another bill as uh as they pass. So like 10:04 is one that uh we're not exactly sure what all is going to get placed into there. 11:02 is one that was held uh here recently on ABA services uh because there's a lot of
questions on how that is going to get um finalized. So that may actually get moved to next session next year uh so to work out some details. So that's again a very quick overview of some of the bills that are being tracked. U but it's been a pretty good session overall. Um we're not the highlight of of this session. And I think I think social media, immigration have been the two hot topics more than education. But I know Jill and um Greg went to a meeting today. I don't know if you guys have anything to share from from that time. >> I I think one of the things that was talked about quite a bit was the cell phone bill. >> Yeah. And um I they seem to think it we're going to have some
type of a um pockets or something to put them in and lock them in. And I don't Didn't they act like that? That's what we're going to do. They or I mean they could the kids could lock them in their locker, leave them in their locker or um not bring them at all and you know that's going to be kind of left up to the schools to make the decision on how it's going to be enforced. You know, high schoolers are very creative and um it's going to be very difficult to >> and time consuming to >> collect all of their smart things, their watches and glasses and >> yeah, that's that's a big big challenge is the meta glasses, the phone or the watches. Um so there's some things that they have to iron
through with that still. So, that's a very good point. >> And liability. >> Well, I thought it was very good. Um, they had a good panel that talked about some of this stuff. Um, I sent in one of my questions was about those very issues. Who's going to pay for the extra staff? They said they they had an agreement where the parents had to buy the $100 bag, but who's going to handle the bag? Who's going to handle the timing? What about the bus schedules? What about getting them in and out? you know, I mean, they didn't answer that question, of course, but um anyhow, but is a good program today. Definitely. Um we were very fortunate that two of our representatives, Heath Fenat and Mike Kerkov, came to lunch with us, so we got
an opportunity to speak to them for a little bit and that was good. So, it was a good timing. Um, another thing that I thought was kind of crazy was uh House Bill 1266 had a line item where they talked about a 4 day work or school week. And it's like I didn't understand that at all. There's one or two schools that are one department like an elementary school or something's is working that >> I don't see how that would work. >> Oh, >> Lafayette Elementary in Lafayette. >> Yeah. And then and that bill is basically to create a waiver system to apply for that. Um, and so I think there's a whole process they're trying to put in place so everybody just doesn't say, "Hey, we're going to do 4 day school weeks." So
I think that's a waiver process, an application that they would a school would have to do to to do that in the future. >> Okay. I'm still bringing my kid to school. Well, >> you know, they they suggested that kids leave their phones at home, and if a parent insisted that their child should have it, then they would pay $100 for a bag or something to put it. >> I just don't see that happen. >> I think it's going to lean more towards no phones at school, period. Um, they have proof. Fort Wayne has already been doing it for two years. They said for the first two weeks it was chaos, but after that thing started settling down and it's been working very well for them. So, we have some background there to look at.
>> They said the positives were unbelievable. So, >> so one state is looking at limiting uh any facetime to less than 50% of the time. The rest would be pencil and paper. I forget what state that is, but >> hopefully Indiana. >> Thanks. >> Sorry. >> Okay. All right. Donations. >> Just asking for the board's approval of the generous donations that we've had received over the last month. >> So move. >> Second. >> All right. Any discussion? >> Thanks for the helmets. I had a question. >> So those uh lathes, do we know if those are CNC or are they old and crank? >> They're newer versions, right? >> But they are computer control. Not >> No, but they're >> Yeah, they're a lot newer than the ones that we have. >> Yeah. >> Oh,
that's good. >> Now we're looking at potential donation of >> Cool. Nice. That's great, Steve. It's great. >> Any other questions? >> Okay, please vote. >> Motion carried. Personnel >> asking for your approval of the personnel um provided tonight. >> Is there a motion? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any questions or discussion? Okay, please vote. Motion carried. Professional development requests >> and asking for your approval for the professional development requests presented. >> Make a motion. >> Second. >> Any questions or discussion? Okay, please vote. Okay. Motion carried. Round table. Terry, you want to start? >> Oh, thank you for hanging in there till 8:00. >> I just want to say I had to write this down. There was so much going on last month. It was just tremendous, you know, for our system, our
school system. But kudos and encouragement to the winter sports successes, the conferences, the sectionals, uh bowling, the art on the square, uh academics, the student leadership, swimming, drama club, you know, students, parents, teachers, coaches, staff, I mean the facilities, hosting those events, um just the girls sectional opportunities, just the resilience team, you know, representation earlier and the presentation just you guys are doing a great job. I think it's tremendous that our school system is at the front of it. >> Cindy u ditto. And I would also say thank you to staff who participated in the calendar committee that met this week. Also, I got to go to the um the invest opening and that was neat to see our staff and students and just um need opportunities for kids. Jamie, I'm so excited for the
intermediate. >> Those are the doors to the in the classrooms that were there when I started in third grade. >> We're going to give them to you. >> Not all of them. Just just I mean I am so pleased. So good deal. >> Very exciting. >> Yes. >> Um also want to do some celebrations. I know like Eric Hunt qualified for state for wrestling. I know we had some other stuff. Um I I heard a lot of positivity to to Mark's point about the hosting of the girdle sectional. Um that worked very well, very well attended as well, I would say, throughout the whole tournament. So great recognition um with that. So thank you and looking forward to all the new updates that are coming soon. >> I'm good. >> Okay. >> Go to last
without much. I I just every month here you are sitting here and I know it's a long day for you and we do appreciate it. >> Uh make a motion to >> motion to adjourn. Joey >> second. All right. >> We got signs. >> I approve. Please vote. Please vote to >> adjourn. >> I think Scott's a yes. >> I'm a yes. I don't know. Hope you're good.
