I already forgot to turn it on. It is 7 o'clock. So, I'd like to call the meeting to order and ask us stand for the pledge of allegiance. So, this is a meeting of the school, family, and community partnership committee and we're going to call the meeting to order and make sure that if you're speaking, everyone's turning their microphone on when speaking and vote. We have any votes coming? Yeah, we do. So the first thing after that on the agenda is approval of the minutes from October 22nd, 2025. That was our last regular uh partnership committee meeting and we've all seen a copy of the minutes. Were there any corrections or abstensions? So, I'll make a motion to approve the October 2025 meeting minutes and I'll second that motion. Thank you. >> All in favor?

>> I just I don't Okay. Um, Miss Bolina, did you receive any public comments? No public com comments this evening. >> Okay. So, we'll pass on reviewing the public comment rules. Um, as seeing that we don't have any public comment, um, let us go to then. Um the first item after that on the agenda is looking at the 2026 school family community partnerships committee dates and we're we are needing to vote today on a change in the original uh committee dates. We were meeting I believe on the fourth Wednesday as we are today. Um and meeting for the every month after that at the same time. We need we were looking to change this meeting date to the third Wednesday of every month in order to um coincide with the achievement uh committee meetings so

that um things flow a little bit better for the board of ed members and we kind of save ourselves a little time putting them together. Um just want to make a couple of notes too before we take a vote on that. So, um let's see. On Wednesday, April 29th, that is, uh that's a fourth Wednesday, I believe. Um Deputy Superintendent Hawk, I believe that the week before is probably vacation week. Is that correct? Okay. So, we're keeping that one. And um no meeting in July. um they would meet at 6 pm. That would be um the time for those days. And the one other thing that we need to consider is um the Wednesday, March 18th date, there is no achievement on that date. So I would ask that just keeping the meetings aligned that

we um abstain from a meeting and on that month as well if that's okay with everybody. Um, so I'll give you a second to review the dates and I would ask for a motion made to approve the new committee days. So move second the motion. Um, All in favor say I. I. Thank you. Motion passes. I forgot to say it. Okay. Okay. So, um the main I think the main drive of this committee has been uh previously or still continuing to um review the goal and action plan for this committee and looking at the bylaw. language to make sure that um that they align and there's nothing else that we need to add or change. And um Commissioner uh Maria Fitz Simmons, no sorry, Maria Simmons Pero, she um shared that information with me and

she has done a lot of work in that regard with the previous committee members. So I think that um I'm thinking that at this point since taking over I kind of want to ensure a flow between what was happening and what we're starting to do right now. So um I think what I'm going to do briefly, it won't take me that long, is just to quickly read the committee bylaws right now so that we can be informed. Okay. Yeah, I think I'll go back first. And um we were talking about the action plan and the things to do um that the that the board was going to ensure that they were doing to keep um in keep track of what was necessary and to move work forward. I'm just trying to again now that would

be great. Thank you. Thank you. My screen first gener. Um so the committee said uh for their action plan to review and monitor district goals and attainment of goals related to family engagement. So working with the superintendent and our designate to identify district goals that relate to family engagement. And um this was started in October 2024. So really it's just a continuation and affirming up of what thoughts were going on at that time and the committee were. So, it would still be ongoing. Um, I know that uh, Superintendent White is not here, but perhaps next time we can have her address how this um, aligns with her goals, her own personal goals for the district in uh, relation to this as well. So, we would look to determine methods used to review and monitor goals

and attainment of goals related to family engagement. um looking at assessments, data, accountability, and doing that in an ongoing way, assessing methods used to review and monitor and attainment of goals related to family engagement ongoing. And I know that um Deputy Superintendent Hawk talked about the panorama surveys and I think those we will use those in future dates to uh help us be aware of some what some of the uh things are that are going well in the district and what things can be improved on so that the board of ed continue in a positive manner. um assessing okay and then determine any recommendations needed to be made to the forward as it relates to this goal. So these these things will be ongoing but um I think I'll be uh meeting with commissioner Piro

so that we can talk about how to move forward without taking too many steps back. So using that information and then moving on from there. Yeah. Not reinventing the wheel because I know that if this has gone on for over a year that there has to be uh some headway that was made and kind of cementing this policy and um checking to see if the bylaw language needs to be amended at all. So back to the by now. Uh the focus of the school, family, and community partnerships is to improve student social, emotional, and academic outcomes through reviewing and monitoring district action plans and communications targeted to district stakeholders. Their responsibilities include review and monitor district goals and attainment of goals related to family engagement. Number two, review district partnerships with business and community organizations.

Three, review and report on success success metrics of district level communications with stakeholders including but not limited to the district referral parents wear. Number four, work with the superintendent and or their design to identify areas of policy and resources necessary to carry out district priorities related to family and community engagement. And then five, make recommendations to the full board related to the responsibilities listed to >> So having said that, I was just going to um ask for conversation. I just was noticing that these bylaw sections of um correlate directly with this action plan. So each of the numbers here has like the plan for each section. So that's really helpful in terms of organizing um because one of my questions was related to just kind of how can we test or assess our success, you

know, in kind of uh doing this goal of like achieving um improving academic outcomes through all of this. So that's like that tough piece where we're going to do all these things and then hopefully connect that to the academic outcomes, >> right? I think some of the assessment part for families comes when they're doing the panorama survey and depending on the outcomes of that a lot of these can be measured. Um, as far as uh the board itself, I don't think there are any questions on it that relate to the board in those surveys. But I would certainly see it as a success that kind of trickles trickles up trickle down um depending on how things go. And I I don't want to uh I don't want to belabor any, you know, or or halt

any work on this and certainly want to get going because I think it's a very important issue that we continue to have positive partnerships with all stakeholders. Um, one thing that uh we did talk about is uh working out specifics on which board members are liaison to different schools so that we can improve that partnership and work on some tangibles. Maybe that um can encourage uh the board and the schools to you know work out some some times when maybe that there can be an effective collaboration or a visit or maybe you know anything of other any kind of engagement in the schools because I think it's very important for all of us to say as board members that we are visible in the schools you know we represent the schools the families and the

community altogether. And I think that it would behoove us to be able to say that we are actively engaged in the community and the schools and attentive to what parent needs are and um community needs. Um, one thing I wanted to ask, uh, Deputy Hawk, I don't know. I know that the schools probably still do have, uh, partnerships with businesses. Do you know if each school used to have their own business? I mean, one business particular that they I know that we used to. I currently know um, that the school that I was at does not. you don't have a particular business. I would also um want to just uh recommend that we rebuild our relationship with ESPN. I don't feel as though uh we're utilizing as much as we used to when I first

>> Yeah. And I think um I'd like to revisit that too because I think at one point it seemed like they were um we kind of had a lot of schools benefiting from that partnership. And then I think at one time maybe they aligned themselves with Green Hills. I don't know if that was intentional or not intentional. So I think that that would definitely be something that we should work on. And then um also just to kind of you know look around the community or ask for maybe offers of assistance. Um I believe that Walmart too was a community member. I remember one year at Hubble School um teachers getting gift cards. I don't know if Mountain View did too, but we got gift cards, $100 gift cards to use at Walmart. I'm not sure,

you know, how that ended up happening, but that's definitely a good partnership. Um, so I think we definitely need to revisit those and kind of cement who are maybe maybe each school has a regular partner and then see how we can also distribute some of the wealth with bigger places like ESPN and maybe it takes somebody to to go and do an outreach there or some kind of a um meeting whether it's Superintendent White or somebody else from the district. From what I can recall, I believe that Jean Aette had the connection with ESPN and she also wrote a lot of grants and when she retired her position was not replaced. So that's why I think it might be important for >> I do remember that. So, I think that that's important to to note

because, you know, sometimes when when the ball gets dropped places, you're not sure why it got dropped and then um but I do think that if this is our our goal to make these improvements and to to meet the um the bylaws through our action plan, but these are things that we need to consider um in improving. Is there a list of like community organizations and businesses that we have the partnerships with? >> I do not think we have any solidified right now. >> Okay. >> And um just to go back in history, I know that Home Depot was a huge contributor to Mountain View for our garden. Um and it was actually Dr. Maro's daughter is one of the chief financial officers for Home Depot. So that was kind of the connection there. I

think a lot of places are very willing to help teachers. Um but I think that uh >> you need an outreach planner. >> Yes. >> I think it's just just getting that action plan before this. Um there's just like a ton of things here. So my brain's kind of like trying to digest it, but there's just a lot of um you know identifying goals, identifying resources from like October and November. So I guess my question would be for next time like do we have these things that were identified? Do we have any of the lists or the goals just so I can wrap my head around like how to move forward or do we pick an area like just making some sort of plan? Yeah, I think there's gonna we're gonna have more talk and

I apologize for kind of feeling like um I haven't solidified things go forward, but it is a big plan and I think that's kind of actually where it was intended to go to okay >> to go through things and see what actions we need to do. >> Yeah. Like what is our timeline for? >> A lot of the timelines said October, November. So, I'm just wondering, was there something created for those times that we could use or do we just pick up now? Like, we just point that out. Yeah, >> I think that that that's a good to kind of get all our ducks in a row and to get any information that is out there and uh yeah, so we can see where there's gaps or maybe we have to pick them all up.

Uh but just not knowing it's kind of hard to do something right now. >> Yeah. And I would also like to check and make sure that the previous committee like did they have things checked off as like yes we've done this and it's ongoing and so like I said not drop the ball on those two. >> Um so I think there's a lot of work this committee can do. Um I think that also uh you know we're thinking about some things that we could implement or change to make um to improve things as well. And one thing that I'd like to continue um starting next month is uh having a community uh business to come in and report. one of the community partners, I guess Salvation Army did um last time. So, doing that and

also doing uh shoutouts to um schools that have something going on that in this regard. Um, I would also uh encourage the schools to let the board know as I'm sure that there are ways that they're doing it already to contact us about um activities that you've done or events and it would be really nice to get somebody in um one or two people a month to share with us what kinds of things you've done to improve partnerships in the community or the schools or families. and then you know sharing best practice like that and um just kind of giving a shout out to people who are doing that. Um I know that I spoke um to Mrs. Reiner from Hubble and um I briefly saw her and she was excited to start up some

parent forums and that kind of thing. So, I think it'd be great to hear maybe from some principles on what kinds of things they're doing in their schools and improving on those kind of things as well. >> I think those are all valid great points. It's to get them together. Um, so I appreciate the input and we will get this all organized for next month and um, certainly we will um, we'll have the collaboration and we'll have some items that we're going to be moving forward with and I appreciate everybody for being here. Um, I will not need to make a not motion and I'm going to call the meeting an adjournment at 7:20. Thank you. >> Thank you.
