001Hi, my name is Kathy and I am a secretary [music] at Cedar View Elementary. I have worked for Cedar Springs Public Schools for 18 [music] years. I have three children, Josh, Anna, and Jared. They were all graduates of Cedar Springs Public Schools. [music] And I wanted to be on their schedule so that my breaks were their breaks and that I could be home with them when they were home. I started out [music] part-time and after a couple of years, it moved to a full-time position. Working at Cedar [music] Springs Public Schools has given me the chance to see [music] so many different aspects of the school from the teaching and learning to what goes on in the schools, what goes on outside of [music] the schools. I like to get to know the kids, those

002that come into the office to receive meds [music] or get health checks. There are so many different uh personalities, different backgrounds and I really enjoy [music] working with each and every one of them no matter where they come from. The other part I really enjoy are greeting parents as they come [music] in the door. It's nice to have that interaction with the parents and know that there [music] are faces behind those voices they hear on the phone. As an employee, I would encourage others [music] to work at Cedar Springs Public Schools because when something happens at another building, um, we [music] all feel either that pain or that joy. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of [music] 2019 and was scheduled for surgery at Thanksgiving [music] time. Staff put together a an assembly.

003when I walked into the gym and saw all those kids standing and [music] the teachers and the pink shirts and just knew that they were there to support me was out of this [music] world. I will never forget it. My future here is until I retire. That is my goal. I'm going to strive to do my best and I [music] will embrace change, take it on head on and do the best I can to fulfill my dreams of working here up into my retirement. I'm [music] Kathy and I'm a Red Hawk.
