We're good? I will now call the regular meeting of the board of Hazel Park Board of Education to order on April 6th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Have roll call, please. Bacon. Here. Becker. Borders. Present. Fox. Here. Woodard-Vance. Here. Prater. Here. Hinton. Here. Um Mr. Becker is absent with notice. Uh can I get a motion to approve the agenda, please? >> motion to approve the agenda as written. Support. Motion by Heidi, support by Debbie. Any discussion? Okay, roll call. Borders. Yes. Woodard-Vance. Yes. Bacon. Yes. Fox. Yes. Prater. Yes. Hinton. Yes. Um motion carries and now we have public comment. This meeting is a meeting of the Board of Education and public for the purpose of conducting school business, district business, not to be considered a public meeting. There's time for public participation during the meeting as

indicated on the agenda. Please state your name and address. Please be considerate and refrain from using names. You may have 5 minutes and I have Chris Johnston first. Anybody else wishing to speak should fill out a a card paper. Thank you. I'm here to say thanks. A while ago you guys voted unanimously to support the Junior Vikings and we just completed wrestling season. We had 32 participants and of those 14 were state qualifiers and 12 of them were able to go to states in Kalamazoo. We had four state placers. Uh sixth was Donnie Allen, uh fifth Kobe [snorts] Miller, second in the state Kendra Miller, and state champion Zeke uh Kalmes. And I think that's absolutely phenomenal uh to have 44% of all participants be state qualifiers and then of the people that finished ranked

in the state, half of them were girls. I think that's great. Um I want to thank Ms. Grasley. I want to thank I thought I saw Mr. Richardson. I want to thank the maintenance staff, Kevin, for all of the use of the facilities at Longfellow. It's greatly appreciated and I just want to say thank you. Um Jennifer Jackson. Jennifer Jackson, 139 West Robert. Welcome back, guys. Um 3 weeks ago on March 16th, four members of this board voted to negotiate a buyout of our superintendent's contract. The remainder of the business that day was left unfinished uh because immediately after that vote, um there was a motion to adjourn. It left unfinished business. Uh shortly uh before the adjournment, there was um one board member who backpedaled, panicked, and wanted to reverse their vote publicly. Um

the board asked for guidance from their paid outside attorney um who we're all paying for, then quickly moved to adjourn the meeting. Uh the next week, March 23rd, a special meeting which uh had been on the books for a while, um had our financial expert that the district uh has paid $60,000 for. He gave a presentation for the board, but only three members of the board showed up. The four who voted in favor of pillaging the million dollars um for the buyout of the contract didn't show up that week. I have questions. Last year, after wasting half a million dollars of our children's money on sham investigations that literally turned up no information that allowed you to just outright fire our superintendent, what led you to believe that an additional million dollars to buy out

her contract was a good idea? When the four trustees uh were the four trustees planning on sharing their motivation or reasons behind making this decision? How long are the four trustees going to pull stunts like this that cost our district a ton of money and our reputation? It's embarrassing. Why is our school district paying outside attorneys and law firms to protect these four board members? We have in-house counsel. Um they're not making decisions based on benefiting our children. None of that None of that has anything to do with curriculum or what's going on for our children. You're literally planning on dumping a million dollars dollars of our money to get rid of one person. Why? We deserve an answer for that directly from each one of you four. Do the four trustees realize that they

are the problem? These issues with our reputation and the news and everything else that is going on is based upon your votes, your votes over the last year, the choices that you've made to hire outside counsel, conduct investigations, not provide any information to this community, and then after all of that failed, you decided to put publicly a buyout for her contract. Why? You owe us those explanations. You should give us explanations and it should happen today. Not when you plan to make a statement or send out a letter through email. You all should have to give that answer on video to all of us today. Thank you. All right, thank you. I have Jennifer Hall. Hi, Jennifer Hall, 1510 East Pearl Avenue. Um I am reading this on behalf of somebody that lost their voice,

so I am going to be their voice today. Um President Hinton and members of the board, what unfolded at the March 16th, 2026 meeting was not just disappointing, it was embarrassing. It was chaotic, unclear, and devoid of the leadership your community expects and deserves. Your community spoke plainly. It does not support a buyout of the superintendent's contract. The consistent message was that such an action is fiscally irresponsible. If the public is misunderstanding something, then it is your obligation, not theirs, to explain the rationale clearly, directly, and with supporting facts. That did not happen. Instead, multiple financial figures were presented during public comment. Some of the conflicting figures were significant, some conflicting, and not a single one was clarified, corrected, or contextualized by the board before adjournment. Silence in the face of confusion is not neutrality.

It is neglect of duty. Equally troubling is the origin of this decision. How did this move from rumor to apparent action without transparent discussion? Members of your own board, along with community stakeholders, are raising concerns about potential violations of the Michigan Open Meetings Act. The law is explicit explicit. Deliberations and decisions cannot occur outside of properly noticed public meetings, whether in person or through electronic communication among a quorum. If this process has not been followed, that is not a procedural misstep, it is a breach of public trust. You owe this community answers. What are your intentions? What specifically are you trying to accomplish? Do you have someone waiting in the wings? And most importantly, how much are you prepared to spend to do it? There is also a deeper contradiction we cannot ignore. The combined

screening and recommendation committee met with six of the seven of you over the past 4 years. Five of you were actively supported both financially and through direct door-to-door advocacy by the very people you now lead as trustees. It is difficult to reconcile that support with a willingness to spend a six- or seven-figure sum on a single contract action while the needs of hundreds of staff and students remain pressing. This is a moment that calls for clarity, transparency, and accountability. Right now, you are falling short on all of three. Do better immediately. We expect answers. Our students, staff, and community deserve nothing less. Thank you. Anybody else wishing to speak, you have to fill out and there's a second public discussion later. So I need a motion moving on to further consent agenda. I make a

motion to approve the consent agenda as written. Support. >> [clears throat] >> Motion by Heidi, support by Was it Debbie? Yes. Any questions or discussion? Roll call, please. Yes. Mrs. Roberts? Yes. Yes. Yes. Bridget? Yes. Kendall? Yes. Motion carries. Now I need a motion to approve the audit services. I move the Board of Education approve the minor coaster costerazzi costerazin audit services as presented. Support. Motion by April, second by Monica. Any discussion? Roll call. Eaton? Yes. Bridget? Yes. Mrs. Roberts? Yes. Cox? Yes. Mrs. Edmonds? Yes. Kendall? Yes. Motion carries. For the audience, these were all discussed a few weeks ago. We're still open. Everybody can still discuss if they have questions. However, we did cover this so it doesn't look like we're just voting. Um Moving on, can I get a motion for the budget

amendment number for three correction? I move the Board of Education approve the corrected version of the budget amendment three as presented. Support. Motion by Heidi, support by April. Any discussion? I guess what what's the correction? We have a presentation for you with an update, especially since it's been several weeks so the audience knows and you can also see the correction. Okay. Okay. Um this is the This is the same presentation just with a couple updated numbers. Um but to answer the question, the corrections were we we discovered that the beginning fund balance was incorrect. Um and then there was an error in the GSRP revenue was overstated. So um to the point of the first bullet point, um we updated this for the changes that we knew since we last presented this. And this is

what we know as of right now. We know that there will be more changes, good and bad, um in the June amendment. But as of right now, this is is what we know. Um From budget amendment two to budget amendment three, our revenues are increasing $2.4 million. A majority of that comes from our state aid. Just the formula yielded about a $1.5 million additional. 31AA, we got six or $700,000 additional award and that was all we were able to take general fund expenditures and move them to that grant. So that was a a big savings for our our our bottom line. Did you say $600,000? Yeah. Uh $700,000 I think I have in here. I thought I heard you say 600. That's what was on the presentation so I wanted to make sure. I thought

you said 627. But it's in that park. Um Oh, sorry. This is the wrong presentation. The expenditures went up. We went through every line item. Um and the expenditures actually increased 100 or 31,792. So ignore the 100,000 heard on that. >> [clears throat] >> Okay. Um this is not the correct slide so let me give you the correct numbers for this. Um Our net gain from this budget amendment is $2.8 million. With $1.2 million being our beginning fund balance, that leaves us an estimated fund balance of $4,074,754, which is 6.92%. Were there any other questions on this? No, but we can't The angle of the TV it's hard to see it. Can we have this emailed to us, please? >> Appreciate it. Thank you. All right, anybody else? Questions? All right. Roll call then. Mrs.

Roberts? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Cox? Yes. Mrs. Edmonds? Yes. Bridget? Yes. Kendall? Yes. Motion carries. Next on the agenda, conference requests over $500. I need a motion. I move the Board of Education approve the conference requests as presented. >> Second. Moved by Monica, second by Heidi. Any discussion on this? Okay, hearing none, roll call, please. Bridget? Yes. Mrs. Roberts? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Cox? Yes. Mrs. Edmonds? Yes. Kendall? Yes. Motion carries. Need [clears throat] a motion on the math implementation work group. I move the Board of Education approve the approve $5,940 for staff compensation to support the work of the K-12 math work group. Support. Motion by Heidi, and second by Monica. Any discussion? Okay, roll call. Mrs. Roberts? Yes. Bridget? Yes. Yes. Eaton? Yes. Cox? Yes. Mrs. Edmonds? Yes. Kendall? Yes. Motion carries. Need a motion

for the certified staffing 26-27. I move the Board of Education approve the certified staffing changes for the 26-27 school year as presented. Support. Motion by Heidi, support by Monica. Any discussion? Yes, this is the base staffing to get us ready. There may be some additional changes based upon enrollment. Um and but right now that gets us through what we need to do to make sure that we communicate with staff about the positions for next year. Um I have a question. The other positions in consideration for elimination, that's not that's up for consideration in the future? No, it's positions for elimination that's on the memo. And so those are both uh positions that we're doing to continue to appropriate. So those are our recommendations. Okay. Um anybody else? All right, roll call. I I'll speak to

me. Um I have a concern on the administrator at Advantage of the minus point four. Um I think that program exceeds 180 students and um it seems like Mr. Smith needs more administrative in the office. And I would like to maybe, if we could, the motion makers could do that, is maybe take that back and discuss to get back to the administration and discuss it more with him of what solutions can help him with having the support that he needs. So that was a recommendation that came from the entire team and he was part of that and looking at the times. And so it does a couple things. One, for many years we ran with more students, many more students than that. So it gives us a little more time to look at to making

sure there's a cost benefit, return on investment. He doesn't need support, and so he would be looking at like the 10:00 to 3:00 kind of time frame for that person. So, it's a little later start for that person at like they're on a regular basis or when he's not here because we do have a lot of meetings to make sure that he's available for that as well. So, >> That's what I was concerned with when he was mentioning >> At this time, that's the recommendation of of the total group. If we find some grant or some additional funding that comes through, like we already got additional funding that we know is coming through as well, then that might be something that we recommend later on. But, at this point in time, we recommend a reduction

to the >> I just wanted to support him. I understand. Yeah. I'm sure he appreciates that. I had the same thought, Darren. So, thanks for bringing that up. So, so then they're still employed. They're just employed less time. Yes. Yes. So, the position would be a reduction. So, we'd have to present a reduction. They would have to accept that reduction or we'd have to find a placement for that person somewhere else and let them know there's a change. So, we would work that through after this meeting. So, then the other grant funded positions for consideration, those people are all gone unless grants come through. No. We are not at this point in time because those are mostly positions that we would make a decision later into May or June based upon what's happening in funding

land. And so, those could potentially be removed as well. Okay, I guess I was confused cuz two spots they consideration. I just thought that was for later dates for both of them. They could be finishing the school year or something. Oh, yes. They're all finishing the school year. Every position's finishing the school year. This is recommendations for the 2026-2027 school year. Yes. Okay. And that's why I say the base there could be changes that we have to make when we get closer. And these still would be within the time frame. We have retirements that are coming in. So, people can be moved as necessary. So, we'll do what we normally do is we don't hire. We've got a couple of them. I I think the federal grant has already said that IDEA and um Title

I will remain the same. So, those positions that are in 31A or in our Title I grants will remain. The other ones that we like the literacy coaches, we're just waiting for the governor's budget to see if that gets approved. We know that everybody's focusing and pushing on literacy. We're assuming that that position will be there, but we'll move that person in the meantime until that's approved. 31N is the same. Thank you for the discussion. Appreciate it. Okay. Uh, roll call. Fortress? >> [clears throat] >> Yes. Feting? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Fox? Yes. Guillermo Flores? Yes. Uh, yes. Motion carries. I need a motion for the athletic trainer. I move the Board of Education approve the position of athletic trainer as a direct hire position for the district. Second. Motion by Monica, second by Heidi. Any

discussion on the athletic trainer? I guess my um I'd like to know what this the job description of this is. Um >> It's right below the motion. Yes. Um So, what exactly are they going to be doing when their sports aren't in play? Uh, so this is a position that we had before. Uh, what we worked out before um was through I can't remember the company Athletico, one of the PT companies. Athletico used to um we'd have a person on site for 30 hours a week, and then the other 10 hours a week they worked at Athletico. This person would be here and is flexible, here for um practices for the kids after school. So, you know, a lot of times these the kids might need to be taped up at 3:00 in the afternoon.

We don't have a trainer to do that for them. Um also, building relationships with the kids, talking to them about things that they need to do to to work their bodies appropriately, um in case that they have an injury or they're they're recovering from something. Um but, this is something that we had before. Um Athletico just chose to end our contract with them, and we I think we talked and we're searching for an athletic trainer for quite some time, then it came back off. So, we're coming back to ask for it again. Uh, we do have a person in this case hoping this person is um wanting to come and work for us full time. Um so, right now all we're doing is providing an athletic trainer at only varsity events, which really is not

great for the safety and well-being of our students. Um you know, as a matter of fact, we had uh you know, kind of serious injury at a JV or a junior high event when we didn't have an athletic trainer available because it wasn't, you know, in the contract to to have that person here. So, this person will work some, you know, flexible hours and be here for the kids after school and through the practices, especially in the summertime when we have those two days for football. Those are some pretty intense times that um that those kids go through in the summertime with the weather. Um you know, they could also potentially be here for the band kids. They're here as it's a really hot, warm time when they do band camp. Um you know, the

dance girls are here for a hot, warm time when they do dance in the summertime. Um so, I think this is really something positive and for the health and well-being of our students. So, do you do you have hours for this person since they are going to be here? >> It'd be pretty flexible. So, depending on the events that we have going on, um you know, obviously it's a 40-hour a week job, but it's not something that you can say, "Okay, you're going to be here from from this hour to this hour" because our events are constantly changing, especially in the springtime. I don't know if you guys noticed it. We were supposed to have a little play for baseball today, and uh the snow, rain, sleet, thunder, and sun kind of canceled it. So,

it's it would be flexible, but we would expect a 40-hour a week commitment from this person. So, they would be a full-time person. And they report to the athletic director? Yes. I have a really quick question. I was reading up on the funding source 31AA, and it said something about a sustainability plan that has to be submitted to the state. Actually, if you look at the memo, it's put to the general fund. We followed up with the 31A conversation, and we switched that out. So, the memo Uh, sorry. is has been updated. We were hoping we could apply this grant to the grant, but they weren't understanding that. So, we just moved something else. You're trying. Got you. Okay. Thank you. Okay. Uh, roll call for the athletic trainer. Feting? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Eaton? Yes.

Fox? Yes. Guillermo Flores? Yes. Yes. Motion carries. Uh, Jardine extended school year 2026. I move the Board of Education approve the staff requested for Jardine extended school year as presented. Second. I'm sorry. Motion by Monica, second by Heidi. Any discussion? Okay. Roll call. Feting? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Fox? Yes. Guillermo Flores? Yes. Yes. Motion carries. Motion for the extended school year for is it Jardine? Special education extended school year services. That's a district district. I move the Board of Education approve the staff requested for Hazel Park School's extended school year as presented. >> Support. Motion by Angela, second by Monica. Any discussion? All right. Roll call, please. Eaton? Yes. Feting? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Fox? Yes. Guillermo Flores? Yes. Uh, yes. Motion carries. And please get for the EV buses. I move the Board of

Education approve the associated purchase of three electric buses not to exceed the total grant of $1,620,000. Support. All right. Motion by Heidi, second by Monica. Any discussion on the buses? Yeah, I think I uh it um since the last time we were able to talk about this, uh we were able to I was able to call to the state. We were able to move it from four to three. The remaining of the grant funds, we would be looking at infrastructure. And so, you can't really do the infrastructure until you pick the buses because different chargers go with different buses. And so, what will happen next is that I will go online to MSTEO and work with Gina and with Tiffany to go through the things that they want, and then we will pick which bus

company, and then we'll bring you back information for DTE and all the chargers that need to come along with it. But, we need to get these ordered as soon as possible. That's what I was going to ask about ordering. So, we can get them here? Yeah, it'll take it'll be into next year uh that that we get it sometimes mid next year. Um I believe the date before was November. It might be December or January now because other grants just came out. So, it's about availability. What was the deadline that we had to order this for? October. Wasn't it October? It was October or something. I remember >> Yes, they extended it to us for October of 2027. So, um it should have been done last year, but it's we're fine. And the benefit of

this is instead of four buses, we can do three. Then we can get our charger set up for additional, and then these grants are going to keep coming. If had we done it then, we probably would have been able to write for an additional grant at this time. So, so we're okay with the timeline and yeah. We are now. Yes. Perfect. >> Thank you. What is the cost for the three buses? I can't answer that and so they're about 420 per Sorry, wait a minute. For the three buses, they're about 420 a piece, but we'll give you the final amount once we get online and we order them. This gave us the extra dollars to work with. It's the still around the same amount of the cost per bus. That's in the bill. >> Yeah.

And then we can use the rest for the stations charging stations. The charging stations and or the electrical going to the charging stations. >> Okay. And DTE's going to help as well as >> That's what I was going to ask. next question. So, we have a special person that's just for Hazel Park and they're just waiting to meet with our mechanical engineer. What you guys approved that work last year. So, some of it's already done, some of the drawings, but they all have to work together including the bus company. It was quite again a learning experience for me regarding buses and charging stations and that beautiful piece of equipment. Welcome to the world of technology and electric vehicles. Um uh roll call. Rodriguez? Yes. Rutledge? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi? Yes. Motion

carries. Uh motion, can I get a motion for the 2026 facility rental guidelines? I move the Board of Education to approve the 2026 facility usage guidelines and fee schedule as presented. Support. Motion by Monica and support by April. Any discussion on the guidelines? Just if you have questions, this allows us to start renting Longfellow. We have a lot of people in the wings waiting for graduation open houses and such. So, um this gets us started in the right direction. Uh for the start of the 26-27 school year, we'll bring back any information to determine if we need to make any adjustments at this time. Um what was the discussion? Go ahead. Yeah. I have a quick question. Um food must be ordered through the service food schools food service contract provider unless otherwise approved. What

that like leaves out pretty much everything except for like bake sales and and anything. Is there Is there a guideline for the approval? Yes, so it would be done through the superintendent. So, if they were having a bake sale or they were doing something in there to sell, they would bring that information to us so we'd be aware of it. You know, there is not at Longfellow, there is not an approved cooking facility. So, they would be doing that at Longfellow. Right. Well, that's the most likely be and you wouldn't need a ServeSafe pro person if you had Oh, actually, it depends if you're cooking there. >> Right. I'm saying if you were doing like prepackaged food, like chips and candy and That's right. Um you know, uh as long as it's not during the

day, there's all kinds of things we have to do because the whole district is approved for food service provider. So, there's licensing items that when they come to request that Jamie and I will have to go through to make sure we're in line. But, they just can't come in and say, "Oh, by the way, we're going to sell all these things or we're going to do a pop-up uh deal and we're going to sell it." We're There has to be a process and approval. And we'll see that when they rent the That's for if they're selling the food. If they have renting the space for graduation party >> Oh, yeah, then they don't have to bring Okay. Okay. All right. Anybody else? Roll call. Rodriguez? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Parks? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi?

Yes. Motion carries. Can I get a motion for the elementary ELA curriculum? I move the Board of Education to approve $7,695 for staff compensation to support the work of the elementary ELA work group. Support. Motion by Monica and support by April. Any discussion? Okay. Roll call. Rodriguez? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Parks? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi? Uh yes. Motion carries. Can I get a motion for the secondary ELA curriculum? I move the Board of Education to approve $7,086 for staff compensation to support the work of the secondary ELA work group. Second. Motion by Monica and second by Heidi. Any discussion? All right. We're just flying along. Roll call. Rodriguez? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Parks? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi? All right. Motion carries. Uh yes. Yes. Uh Fiber Link uh motions uh for maintenance. I

move the Board of Education to approve Fiber Link to perform a maintenance survey and provide us with the report of needed repairs. Second. Motion by Monica and second by Heidi. Any discussion on the Fiber Link? So, this maintenance survey, like in the past, it would go They would go through and look at the lines, make sure there's no tears or squirrel chews or uh line hangers that are missing or bent. And then um that's why it's only $5,000 um well, around there. And then if there is any, then they report back and they give the report to Easterbrad over there and then we can repair the lines to keep the internet going for our students and staff. You're absolutely correct. Thank you. Do we do that every year? Yeah. Given that since when? Three years

ago was the last time we did We do it about every three years and it is E-rate-able. So, it is covered under E-rate for any repairs and stuff. >> That's even better. Mhm. All right. Anybody got questions for Mr. Wilkins? Okay. Roll call. Rodriguez? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Parks? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi? Yes. Motion carries. Uh up next, a motion for the employment of a security guard. I move the Board of Education to approve the resolution for the employment of a security guard as presented. Second. Motion by Monica and second by Heidi and um April's going to read it before we vote. Yep. Uh regular meeting of the Board of Education of the school district was held in the school district on the 16th day of March, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Meeting was called

to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Beverly Hinton. The following preamble and resolution were offered by board member Rutledge and supported by member Fortress. Whereas section 1230 of the revised school code requires that both school district superintendents and boards to specifically approve the employment of district employees who have been convicted at any time in the past of any felony that is not listed that is not a listed offense under the sex offenders registration act. Whereas the information received by the administration indicates that Joseph Sawyer Joseph Sawyer's an applicant for the position of security guard was convicted of a felony controlled substance less than 25 grams, which is not a listed offense under SORA 10 years ago. And whereas the administration has done employment reference checks of Mr. Sawyer's and has received positive [clears throat] feedback.

Has determined that such past offense has not adversely affected the employee the employee's employment with other employers to date. Does not believe that such offense will adversely affect the employee's employment with the district in the future. And as Mr. Sawyer's employment as a security guard is is recommended by the superintendent. Be it resolved that the board hereby approves the employment of Joseph Sawyer's as an employee of the district to begin work as a security guard. Okay, now we can vote. Uh go ahead. Roll call, please. Rodriguez? Yes. Fortress? Yes. Eaton? Um by way of explanation, I think it's worth mentioning that we have already voted to approve this. We just had to redo um the resolution in order to fit the act. So, yes. Parks? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi? Uh yes. Motion carries. Uh United

Oaks carpet replacement bid motion. I move the Board of Education approve the replacement project carpet replacement project at United Oaks Elementary with Cone Flooring Company an amount not to exceed $92,777. The board. I move by Heidi and second by uh Monica. Discussion? When are they planning to start this? Um that we'll have to work through. We were waiting for approval. Um the it has to be completed before the first day of school. So, we'll have to work in between some summer school at United Oaks. Um it doesn't have the area. Do you know where the space? Mhm. It is going on the first and second floor outside of the classrooms. All of that carpet. The area? Yes. Yeah. It kind of bubbled in it and broke. >> since I started here, it's been so It's

just a safety issue for the kids. Yeah, it's a tripping hazard, I think, for some people. But, all right. Great. Uh roll call. Fortress? Yes. Rutledge? Yes. Eaton? Yes. Parks? Yes. Rutherford-Boyd? Yes. Heidi? Yes. Motion carries. Food service request for bids. I move the Board of Education authorize the issuance of a request for bid for food services and ability to make necessary changes required by the MDE as presented. Support. Motion by Monica and second by April. Uh discussion? Just that this is a very lengthy process. Um we've already sent out emails because we want to be on time to potential bidders as required by MDE as as as we have a an ad that'll be going in the newspaper in the next few days or maybe already is. Um and uh then there'll be some

few changes. I have a meeting with MDE on Wednesday to make sure that we get this out on time. Um Do we have to have the decision as of July 1st? We we have to vote >> Our contract is done June 30th. So, these will be due in May with the hope that we'll get them approved in May. 044out a card. Okay, seeing no one, then we will move to future agenda items. Anybody? I have none. No. I have none. Calendar dates, I don't have anything written here to report. Um Do we have a location for our retreat? Yeah. Um I think Thursday, uh Greg is meeting with us and um we're going to visit Longfellow, but we're also going to visit uh Court Town Hall. They have a room in the front that's uh very beautiful, and so I think that's my preference. It's a nice area in the community, and um it has a better wall to put the pieces up, so I'm going to let him take a look and see what he's most comfortable with. Okay. That would be my only question for calendar. Okay, and next is superintendent's report. Um I

have a couple things that are happening at Longfellow. One, we're really excited to have a partnership with Oakland Literacy Council, um where uh we can work to help people learn English, uh get a GED, um uh learn how to read, and gain computer skills. So, we are really excited to have them as a partner uh with us. There's a um I'll get these sent to you over the weekend. Um we also have a digital literacy literacy class happening April 13th from 6:00 to 7:00 at Longfellow. Um and so, that's actually an information about GED, ESL, and all the services, so that's their informational session. I just handed that to you. And then also we, if you noticed on social media today, we're going to be having uh a monthly uh Robin Donato, public health educator

from Oakland County Health Division, um is going to be bringing some healthy habits from 11:00 to 12:00 on April 8th on bone health, on May 13th on heart health, June 10th on diabetes awareness, July 8th fall prevention, August 12th importance of protein, and September 9th importance of fiber. And these are for seniors who want to learn about healthy habits for aging. Um I'm going to be excited to share as uh the grant team starts to happen. Um and then there's just a lot going on in the buildings. We're full swing tomorrow back with our kids. Hopefully it won't rain and we'll have some sporting events outside. Uh it's been a little dicey the last few days. Um other than that, we look forward to seeing you on Monday for a committee of the whole. All

right, anybody else? Comments? Board member? I'm a State girl, but go Blue. Ew. Oh, yeah. Let's go Blue. Yeah. Let's go. Mhm. Um I do have a couple questions. I know that we received some bills earlier. Um on the 17th it said, and we got an email on this that the lawyer spoke to our superintendent, and our superintendent said she never spoke to him. So, have we asked about that yet? I haven't had an opportunity. I just received that this afternoon. Okay, and then also in our policies it says that the president is to provide us copies. It's your duty as president of any documentation that comes to the board, and reading all of Truant's stuff this year, there's been plenty of documents back and forth, and we've received none of them. Well, I will

have to look into that because I do believe you received some of them. Maybe not all of them, but some of them. >> Well, we were supposed to get all of them. And I also want to say just lastly, I think, and I find it very disrespectful, that our superintendent got pushed to the end of the table. This is a board of seven, I get it, but we work as eight, and to have her down there is so disrespectful. Anybody else? I don't have any comments. No comments? Okay, motion to adjourn. I motion to adjourn. Support. All in favor? Aye. Aye. I have yours. This is really interesting.
