Okay, let's start. We will open with public comments. Um, during public comments, any citizen of the Kirkwood School District may make a statement or address the board concerning issues pertaining to the district. Any non-board member wishing to speak at a meeting must register their desire to do so. No individual will be permitted to speak more than once during this period. Speakers are not to address the board concerning specific personnel issues at a meeting. Board members will not directly respond to a speaker during the meeting, but if a response is required, the appropriate individual will get in touch in the days following the meeting. And the board establishes a uniform time limit of three minutes for each speaker. And our first speaker tonight is Harry Chakamingus. Thank you. And if you want your mom to come

up with you, she can. Hi, my name is Harry and I'm going into fifth grade at Kaiser. I fell off the spinny pool and broke my femur. It really hurt. I had to miss my lacrosse and baseball season. And now I am relearning how to walk in physical therapy. I think you should remove this because this because it's very dangerous and I don't want anyone else to get hurt on it. Thank you. Okay. I'm Allison Chuckus. Um, I am here tonight to talk about an injury that my son Harry sustained on the Kaiser playground. Um, however, I think it might not be necessary at this point for us to um, go into my whole speech that I prepared. So, I just wanted to say thank you all very much for hearing us and our concerns

and we really do appreciate the service you provide to our community. Thank you. Next, Colleen Cochran. Okay. And finally, Leah Thomas. Hello. I'm Leah Thomas. I'm a teacher at Kaiser. I just got back from an awesome um professional development experience in Chicago at a conference. So, shout out to the Kaiser team and at Robinson took teachers as well. It was really fun. We learned a lot. Um, I want to speak tonight to share my support and thank KSD leadership and the board for your continued support of diversity, equity, and inclusion of affinity groups and KTA, also known as the Kirkwood Teachers of Color Mentorship Program. To reflect the importance of these initiatives, I'll just share an example of how my teaching has been impacted. This school year, I overheard young students using a slur, I

was able to navigate this tricky topic with the children in a caring and supportive way. Thanks to the valuable district professional development, the support of my principal and assistant principal, as well as other teachers on my team and Dr. Jeremy M. Through all this learning, I've broadened my mind to learn about other people and cultures, which makes me a better educator for the diverse individuals that walk through my classroom door and their families that love them so much. On another note, while I have the mic, I'd also like to express my support for the school district to provide teachers with due process. In the event a teacher is investigated, the district should provide to them any and all documentation and evidence that backs up the accusations. I thank you guys for everything you do for

Kirkwood teachers. Thanks for your daily work and support of Kirkwood Education. Thank you. Moving right along, I need a motion to approve the agenda for June 23rd, 2025 as presented. So move second. All those in favor say I. I. Motion passes. All those opposed? Motion passes. I need a motion to approve the presented consent agenda items 5.02 through 513. So move Nean. All those approve raise your right hand and say I. I. Any oppose? Motion passes. 7.01 new business. I need a motion to approve the financial statements for May 2025 as presented. So move Shar. Second. Kevin. Mr. Rome. Good evening. Our revenues in May, operating revenues in May were 11.3 million and most of that is current tax revenue which was 8.2 million and most of that was taxes paid under protest. So each

year in May, St. St. Louis County releases all taxes that are paid under protest. Our operating expenditures in May were 7.1 million. Most of that is salaries and benefits. In our maintenance fund, we paid $616,000 in principal and interest on the 2021 HVAC lease. Uh the final payment for this lease will be made next year. In our technology fund, we made the final principal payment of 3 78,000 for the 2022 Apple laptop lease. Thank you. Any discussion? All those in favor raise your right hand and say I. I. Motion passes. 7.02. We need a motion to approve the 2025 2026 budget as presented. Thank you. Um, as you know, preliminary draft was presented in May for the board to review. Sorry, I needed a motion. So moved. So moved, Neman. Thank you. Thanks. Um, so

the preliminary draft was presented in May for the board to have at least a couple weeks in advance of the work session on June 2nd. At June on June 2nd, the final budget was presented with one revision that we discussed during that meeting. There hasn't been any changes to the budget since June 2nd. So, no increases, decreases in revenue or expense uh from what was presented on June 2nd. Um I would like to thank our budget and finance committee one last time for all their help as well as Shannon Orlup and Scott Harmon in my department for their help with preparing the budget as well. And so I'm recommending approval of the 2526 budget as presented. Miss Andrews. Mike, it's hard to believe that this is um not only your last presentation, but your last

budget that you're presenting to us. Um and I just personally want to thank you for um all you've done for this district. um you have always been um great at explaining um complicated school finance because it's not easy. I I would always say now slow down and say that again Mr. Roma and you were always so patient and um thank you so much for that. Um, I just want to make sure that, you know, because you know I oftentimes I don't you don't think that the legislature can change the amount throughout the year because it just doesn't make sense, right? And we're hopeful that that that doesn't happen. But I think it's just important that the public and the board is aware that that can happen. We are confident. Um but um just to kind

of keep that in mind. Um but again, I can't thank you enough for for um all your leadership and um money man Mike is going to go down in history. So yeah, thank you. Well, thank you. Appreciate that, Mr. Cathy. Thank you, Mr. Ome. That's my only comment. Thank you. Thank you. Same. We're going to miss you, but good luck and enjoy your retirement. It's been it's been great. So, it's tough leaving. You can always, you know, come back a little bit. Miss Heburn. Yeah. I mean, just thank you not just for you, but also that for the past year that I've been on the board, I haven't had to think too deeply about the financial stuff because I know that I have so much such high confidence in what you are doing and that

you know your stuff and um that's been really great for me to on board and have that confidence. So, thank you for um I'm sure you could have done a lot of different things, but for working in public education is um is a really wonderful thing. So, thank you so much. Thank you, Miss Neon. Yeah, and I'll just add congratulations on your retirement. Very exciting. Please stay in touch. I will. Thank you. Well, everybody's already said everything. I will add that you made this English major feel more confident with numbers. So, that's a huge hole. Great. Thank you. Um, thank you very much for all your patience with us and your devotion to the district. Thank you. And now all those in favor of approving Mr. Rome's final budget for 2025 2026, raise your right

hand. I motion passes. We're zipping along here. Um 8.01 policy review first reading. Again, we've got lots of policies here. Please spend some time reviewing them.
