e e e little deeper welcome to the March 11th uh sau70 organizational and regular meeting it's my privilege to preside over this meeting for all two minutes and um the first thing I will do is uh ask for nominations for chair of the se70 board I nominate Lisa Christie to chair of the sau70 board all right has been nominated we don't need seconds but that's okay thank are there any other nominations any nominations seeing none all those in favor of Lisa Christie to serve as chair of the SE board sorry congratulations again Lisa and someone else can plug in charge over here and Michael's yeah that's what I heard so we're good one of these kind folks get out of order you'd be able to her backwards in the rocking chair okay hi everybody um

welcome to the SAU meeting and thank you very much um for letting for letting me to serve chair once again right now I need nominations for the appointment of a vice chair I think it should be someone from Hanover correct does it need to be not should it be but it must be it must be that's what I thought okay to Nomine Deborah bacon Nelson to be Vice chair of sa will you always be here we we for that to happen Okay um do I see any other nominations see none all in favor of Deborah Nelson as Vice chair for the note taker that was unanimous thank you Deb thank you Deb you know it's you have earned that right um now for the appointment of a secretary any nominations for secretary um to repeat

what Ben said at the last meeting this is traditionally the new member role um and it just literally means that you sign a couple documents periodically and that you're third in command so Ben you have your hand up go I nominate Gina deonier as the Secretary of sau70 board any further nominations all in favor of Gina for the note taker that is unanimous thank you all very much um now to the agenda review oh oh sorry Schoolboard committees yes um I'm not going to repeat what was said I will quickly summarize the discussion from the dresed meeting there are many committees that school board members serve on you serve on duplicate committees sometimes because there are duplicate committees for each of the boards um there's a budget for each of the boards um the ones

that are SAU specific are listed here um in addition you serve on other ones if you have any in inations to serve on one committee over another for any of the boards please email your respective chairs and let us know and during our first four four chairs meeting will kind of magically move everybody into place um but if there are any questions about this list um there's budget which is just the same as everybody else um there's four chairs which I guess is under seou but we sort of our the four of us sort of our we just run it the four of us with Jay I guess Jay and Ryan run it there that's what I'll say um strategic planning comes under SAU um which is usually each of the four chairs heads up

one of the sections of the Strategic plan um and at this point in time there's not really further board membership because it's the the plan is now in the schools and the schools are doing the implementation um so they there but it's not technically active at this point in time it's more of a board reporting out um committee um there's the SAU policy which then talked about during the dresen meeting there's a superintendent evaluation um work which is starting up next week um and there's strategic planning um which again oh that was there twice so um yeah so there's a duplicate um and I think that's it specifically for SAU yeah yeah that I can think of um it's on the chart if we missed anything so again just let um one of the four

chairs know ideally by the end of this week what your preferences are or if you don't have any preferences what your strengths are like um Gina said she's a strategic thinker not necessarily going to be a nitty-gritty person so it stuff like that's really helpful too yes Kelly so superintendent valuation I'm happy to be on that committee again I do not need to be chair again but since I was chair last year if you are interested in being on that committee I'm happy to kick it off before we determine a chair so just send me an email because that does need to get rolling sooner rather than later yep and we will need at Le we need I mean assuming that Deb wants to continue we will need one new member because of Lily so

okay um there we go agenda review are there anything is there anything on here that needs to be shifted around for additions or any thoughts on the agenda we're good okay at this point in time the public May address the board and it's so exciting to have the public here um as my voice goes up sorry about that it is rare because it's late and it's a work night so thank you all for being here um at this point you have three each member of the public has three minutes to address the board um at for this portion of the agenda and the public comment we ask that you um comment only on things that are not already on the agenda if they are on the agenda if you could wait and make your comments

during the discussion time for that agenda item we would appreciate it but if you're here for something that is not on the warned agenda um this is your time to let us know there will be time again at the end for that to happen as well um again comments are limited to three minutes and just to quickly explain um because if you're bringing up something that wasn't a warned item we as board members will not be engaging in a discussion about that item at this point in time we will thank you very much for your comments um and take action going forward but because it's not a warant agenda item we will not we are not going to be engaging in a discussion on anything that is mentioned during this public comment so with that

said um any members of the public we've got three online then um three online and anyone here are here comment on anything that's not on the agenda yes and if you could please come forward and state your name and your place of residence you don't have to give your street number or anything but yeah and if you're representing a particular group okay Cara delro I'm a parent of a um Hanover High School sophomore um I was at the last meeting um on the 24th of February where the topic of um or I should say discussion of amending some policies relative to gender identity um in compliance with executive orders um it was I don't think it's on the agenda tonight I had a hard time understanding the agenda because I'm not a professional SCH board

member but I think I got it um it is not okay right so they're clear on that so I am curious as a parent of a transgender child at the high school um what is the go forward plan to make discussion decision and what is the go forward plan essentially and at what point do we have as parents and frankly students to comment and provide our input okay thank you do you wanna you are GNA discuss well I mean I yeah yeah let's give it I'll let Jay give an update yeah sure so we we sort of um I don't want to say we skirted the issue at the last meeting we we uh and that was well I will just tell you that right now in New Hampshire law despite what's happening at the

federal level um the gender identity for example is still recognized as a protected class under New Hampshire law the the debate we had last not debate but the the problem we had with the proposed changes to our existing title 9 policies in particular were because we already had gender identity in our policy back in 2020 when the new changes at the office of civil rights required that to be added so the changes our our lawyers had recommended to go back to our 2020 policy really didn't change and it confused the board and so we've gone back to our attorneys to make sure that that the policy we have as written is in compliance with federal law part of the discussion we had was also people people on several of our board members wanted to know

well can we just essentially flout changes in federal law and keep our policy The Way It Was Written and the truth of the matter is we could do that but it would not change the recourse that anyone who was filing a title 9 claim would have if if it went all the way through to the office of civil rights and was handled at the federal level because they've made this pronouncement um so we do it as a symbolic gesture that would not ultimately help our students but we feel that the policies we have in the books right now um until someone tells us we're violating the law and takes action against us um uh firmly uh State our support for all of our students and as of right now we have no intention of changing

those policies uh so really this is a the the only area where we are facing Poss possible change or compliance is specifically with federal law as it pertains to Title 9 I ask a clarifying question yes certainly stand up and just um yes so when you say the current policies we're talking about specifically in the foundations and Bas section ACAA and acab yes stands today on the site that is not up for discussion right and I would add to that there are we have other policies in our policy man specifically protect students um that we have no intention at this time of changing one more down three minutes is probably um you have mine in the in the um likely event this topic comes up again what is the um obligation of the board to

the public to give notice that the discussion will be happening at the board level that all of our meetings are warned in advance at least five days is that four a minimum of two but but Ryan like if we have a Monday or Tuesday meeting she is very very strict about I want this posted on the list serves by Friday before at the latest so that in board in board dos on the various Town list serves um it gets announced on the calendar there's a link on the calendar there's an sau70 calendar and every board meeting is listed there and you can click on it and you can you know it it will lead you to where you need to go um but Ryan is she she as Kim alluded keeps the trains running and

she's very strict about if there's any changes that you need to make to the agenda you have to make it by like Thursday at 5:00 pm so that she can post it first thing on on Friday morning or sometimes Thursday morning so um so yes so that we if we are going to have the discussion you will know at a minimum 48 hours in advance and hopefully longer than that yes Ben if there are any proposed changes to a policy those are first discussed at the SAU policy committee which I currently chair and that is also public they meet roughly twice a month um typically on Thursday morning but not necessarily always those are also warned with specific policy names that are under discussion or will might be under discussion and same thing goes oring

elep generally five or six days in advance through all through board dos for all through board dos y and it's it'll be under SAU policy like if you go to the sa part it'll be under the policy committee and Ben and Ryan do a really good job of it's not just the jcab 12 it's like jcab 12 and then it will have a title so that you know you don't have to look up what jca's V12 is someplace else so um so the topic will you know will be there and it's typically policies will stay in the policy committee for multiple meetings as they get words Smith like line by line before it comes to any board and then it comes when that's ready it comes to the seu board sort of like the oversight

Board gets discussed here in very minute detail and then trickles down to the other boards as appropriate so it's there's a it is a lengthy process by Design to make sure everything goes through its proper Pace before it becomes adapted or amended into profit policy and you'll also see if you were at the last meeting that things get read twice so um it goes through all the policy work it gets read before the board there's usually enough questions um there's often some changes sometimes it'll go back to the policy committee they'll have another you know at least one more meeting about it possibly two more meetings about it before it comes back to the board for a second reading so there's lots of opportunities for the public to comment and to have input so Jay

I would what's a little different about the what what gave rise to your concerns is that this this wasn't a revision of a policy this was a policy that had been changed at the federal level had had been adopted in I think 2023 and um we were given instruction that that was that was now voided and that we had to revert to the 2020 policy so it didn't it didn't go through the the typical revision process okay so when when we all read that together and saw that that the terms really hadn't changed we we we've sent it back to our our Law Firm that we consult with for an opinion on whether or not we're compliant with the law and as recently as this afternoon I heard back from our attorneys that we're scheduling

a meeting for the short term so I would anticipate that if this is going to come back to the board it'll be at its next meeting Kelly just looking at the agenda there is a NSU policy committee on Thursday morning and it is one of the first things on the agenda um and I believe those are not open via Zoom right those are just in person meeting so just wanted to clarify that um you guys wanted to attend so 8:30 a.m. they're held in my office in the sa office um and also just wanted to request I guess um as a future agenda item but also for the policy committee I think it would behoove us to understand even if we have to go to some you know Draconian language that we don't personally individually

agree with whatever we're required to do what we are able to do within that space in terms of statements of understanding or um um procedures that we will be following in addition to these boiler plate policies that we might have to um put on our books um just understanding what wiggle room we have within that space I think would be very helpful to us and to the community yeah and I I know we said we don't discuss but I feel like these are all procedural questions and not like about the substance so I'm comfortable with this as long as we stick to kind of the procedure of how this happen so Jay I would also I think I mentioned it at that meeting where that was discussed that the guidance we were we got from

the state of Vermont when the the original change was made was for us not to change our policy because of an ongoing lawsuit so if you want to see what the old policy was it's it's essentially this the policy that's in on the books if you go into board dos under the Norwich policies it's that version of the title n policy that we would be reverting to um and I think just to kind of close this unless like at least this part um although I'm open to other people if there's more comments but um just a remind what Jay said our I hope that people who read our policies would see that we Center students and that there are lots of policies that this board passes and that Council the procedures that Council does that

put students at the center of the work and so um just kind of want to keep repeating that that they yeah thank you any other comment from the public yeah here it just quick question J so on for that policy meance on Thursday your point so it does say we're still waiting for legal advice so I assuming if we working Le advice we wouldn't actually be discussing the because there would be nothing to discuss but it sounds like we are I sure I'll have a fres for you Thursday so we are going to be literally okay it will be ready for that okay I make sure we did that before we start saying come up to the meeting we're not be discussing yeah also just on as we're talking about people have noticed it happened

about half an hour ago but the Department of Education at the federal level did announce they're firing more than half of their employees okay just minutes ago so so continuing on um the public may continue to address the board if there are any more comments from the public at this time and again we appreciate that you're here so thank you very much good anybody online oh yeah go ahead yeah um also here sorry sorry Tracy Hayes NWI um also just in support of um taking a look at was concerned with the retiring of not understanding the full context so I really appreciate the backstory and looking at the the know policy thank so much thank you see you on Thursday L of it like set people's mind at EAS I think we're okay we're okay

I think we're okay yeah okay you can do it on Thursday okay okay so thank you very much I'm seeing no further comments um we have business requiring discussion and a curriculum update from Robin well this is actually a good process for me because I had an opportunity to reflect upon what we have been doing over the past few years so um and Kim reminded me of coming in here during Co when I was trying to start all this curriculum work but during that year I really used that as a time to start to get to know people and to go into the schools and do some observing and just try to figure out what was happening and so it gave me an opportunity to read through the curriculum audit that had been done I

think previous year to look at what was in Rubicon Atlas which at that time was our curriculum um online documentation format which had been used sporadically and not consistently across all the schools so but it did give me an opportunity to review that to look at like I said the curriculum audit and then to meet with teachers coordinators at all grade levels and all departments to figure out what had been happening with the K through 12 meetings so it gave me I feel like a good framework even though I could really dive into any of the real curriculum work at that time which was probably a better move on my part anyway because there was so much going on with covid and I really need to get to know the district and it gave me

an opportunity to see the autonomy that existed in the district and how different it was at each raid level and in the each subject area so I think it gave me a better understanding of moving forward having having done that spent that year doing mostly I feel like a learning year for me um I did I'm very anxious about getting to work and I like to get things done and so for me to think about you know spreading this out over time which really I was thinking about at that point you know how I could incrementally do this work without overwhelming teachers and staff members and administrators because I know for me as a worker I love to just go and do it and get it done but I also knew the limits of our

staff and we were still involved in Co in that second year so um during that second school year I actually put together our sau70 curriculum drive that was chair drive with all the staff members in the school and so we put that into place we still had Rubicon Atlas going the middle school had done a fabulous job of really putting all of their curriculum there and so I when I think about this and go through the work that I've done over the past few years I always feel like the middle school has been somewhat neglected in the curriculum work because I've had so much focus on the elementary and the high school and they had documented their curriculum previously in a really fine way so um during that year I did do the sau70 curricul

ulum drive that was meant to be a depository for all of our curriculum documents that could be accessed by all teachers across the district and all administrators so we could see K through 12 what was happening and again we are were just beginning to put things in that drive so you know getting I put a template together a common template so we'd have a common format to put into the drive and I did start doing some of the curriculum work that year not as much as obviously the following year but we did start meeting with different groups and I had some release days then and we started putting work in and when we when I started that process I thought it would take us three to five years really to get to the point of

having the curriculum documented and then move into publishing it for the public so we at the same time which I think about this now and seems so insane to me that I also put together a math committee at the elementary level and I think that was the first time that we had done that with both schools coming together with representatives from our teaching staff from special education our Specialists our administrators and prior to that I'd worked with the principal to really think about what we would want to do for curriculum development at the elementary level because again we had different programs being used used by different grade levels by different schools so there was not a lot of consistency in terms of vertical and horizontal alignment so I was trying to think systematically about how

we could roll this out again without overwhelming the teachers by introducing a new program every year so we started that year with math and I put the committee together amazing people just so willing to look at everything we brought out you know what was considered the best documents at that time for curriculum and programs and We examined those we developed a long range plan for budgeting for that program we thought about the PD so the committee went marvelously honestly it was probably the best thing I could have done was to focus on that that year it felt like a low lwh hanging Frou for me at that point I knew it wouldn't be as intense as when we moved into Ela which we're doing now um but it was a nice way to you know

just start that whole process and to think long range about how we would Implement different Pro different um subject area so we did that we started the professional development that year which was great toward the end of the year we had the budget in place that was passed and then we um we moved into the next school year and again at this point I'm meeting with different teams and grade levels we're populating the sau70 curriculum drive that continued into 2223 we had we've done the curriculum work primarily through release days and through some paid summer work that has been what we've done since the beginning and that continues to this day and I see that as part of an ongoing process and cycle for us that we morph is never done I mean we working

on these science units now but I already have teachers teaching those units and saying okay these are some changes I want to make for next year which is good that's what we want we don't want things to be static and we want things to be continuously improving so I think we've put that um sort of you know um I would say culture into place too of trying new things and being able to try things and revise and and update so 2223 we continued we implemented our math program we actually um did professional development through the year I thought that was a really great process is it perfect no it never is but we're now moving on with math to develop look at Common Assessment data I mean we are taking things so much further and

have been able to do that each year than I would have anticipated we also um began to look at science and think about science for the following year so last year in the elementary level we implemented our math program for the second year we began training teachers in aligning science unit with ngss and we had training in that we did that throughout the year started developing units this year we we finished our first unit with the combined two teams together from Miran cross and the ray school and now we've continued that process with each team developing a unit that will go in together so we'll have three full ngss aligned curriculum units which is amazing at the same time I have not I mean I probably have overwhelmed people but I didn't feel like we

could wait much longer for ELA at the elementary level so I put a committee together last year that we started working on toward the end of the school year that committee's been meeting all year and really with that committee I felt like we just needed a lot more background knowledge about science reading and really looking at how we would Implement a a really strong literacy block that was aligned AC us as school two schools and grade levels so we've done a lot of background learning we've read two books three books um we're looking at one that is coming out this summer on F on the literacy block specifically it's all updated information for teachers and again it's been a really good process I actually I enjoy going to those meetings so much I can't tell

you how engaged everyone is and just talking about you know these things that when I came five years ago we would not have been talking about and we would not have been thinking about educating our elementary students in this way so hudos to everyone else as you know I've not done all of this work it's all of the staff members who have done the work with me and the administrators with their support So now science is happening we're starting Ela I'm hoping by Fall I'll have a budget for ELA materials with a PD plan similar to what we have done with the other areas and then I'm also hoping in that process that we can do more integration with social studies and science which we've already again started talking about it was so funny at

my um one of the meetings I was at the other day we were talking about you know which science books we might want to use based on our knowledge now of the science of reading so they're all becoming intertwined at the same time last year I developed a template for our public facing documents and um Ryan once again did an amazing amount of work over the summer trying to take the curriculum documents from the teachers and really pair it down so it wasn't all the assignments and assessments and all those things that no one needs to see but gave a good description of what was actually happening classes and that has continued into this year I've sent out literally hundreds of pages of documents and you can see every time I get one back from

a teacher we put it online and so now we have almost all of the math cources online we have still I think a few electives to do but that's K through 12 um we have science and we will have K through 12 science at the end of this year I have most of middle school and S High School science classes those are online now for the public to view we have some electives to finish in science and this summer I'll finish all of the elementary science so you'll be able to see that for both schools um we have I have the English Department and social studies department they literally have hundreds of pages of documents now that are ready to go online so they have been going through those editing them and on April 2nd

we'll have our curriculum day for the high school which is our SAT testing day so any teacher that's not responsible for proctoring will be either working on those documents or continuing to work on the elective documents and so that will be almost all of the English classes and all of the social studies classes electives required classes all of that will go online we've been putting all the word language classes online those are in fits and spurts I'm working with Middle School actually that's one area that um we have had some release days because we have so many new teachers and just trying to align high school and middle school so those have been going online and those will continue to go online and then the summer I would like to focus on some of the

other areas outside of the major core areas like our library media Specialists who have been doing a lot of work our PE and health I've already put some of those online uh and some of the other areas like what else did I want to mention technology um all of the arts classes some of those have been put and then I can once again focus on the POR middle school that has been neglected by me and because their curriculum has been documented and online anyway so I'm kind of you know waiting for them at the end because it's already been out there but that is is basically my update and I read through this and I thought wow we have gotten some things done over the past few years so and not me everyone else here

honestly it's been all the work of our staff members before we go to questions from the board I want to make sure that everyone saw in board docs that there are links to yes their written report and also to the curriculum page which if you haven't flipped through it it's really fun to see um and I will say as a board member for five years there was absolutely nothing that I mean nothing and the fact that there's something is pretty amazing and the fact that there's so much is really great so and before my goal of getting it on there so I'm very excited about that actually getting it done a little bit before well probably two years before I anticipated that it would be in the state that it's in so so questions de

this isn't a question but I I appreciate you're giving to your team and to teachers but we all know that you were instrumental in making this happened because those same teachers haven't produced this without your help and we know that it's been asked for um n ask has asked for it this is the third time around that weing now with I just I just don't want to undermine the incredible gift you have for helping move people to where they need to be so thank you thank you I can p a few my hairs out but not too badly maybe made it seem easy maybe probably true um any other comments or questions for Robins Kelly just is a small suggestion it's marvelous and I'm so excited to be able to click through and say oh

that's what's happening in this class my child's taking it's fantastic um I when I first glanced I was like oh why don't we have music why don't we have an IR still building it right Ela I I do appreciate like when I look at Hanover High School you know social studies isn't up yet and it just says you know still building or whatever it might be worth putting those up so people know yeah it's coming right like those headers up so it's not like we I mean Ela I don't think anyone things that we don't have an Ela curricul right we do but like music some of those color departments that people might go why aren't they playing music you know like everyone has their little right everyone has their thing they notice right so

it might be good to put those headers up they're coming right yeah yeah and I'll talk to Karen to see if we can also mention Karen right because she has been instrumental in helping with the online presence honestly she's done so much work as well on this I did have one more go ahead okay sorry uh under since I happened to be clicked on Handover high social studies are we planning to put like each class CU I know classes tend to be more elective in nature exciting that's fun I think I have 98 pages right now of social study you do yeah that we probably go on soon after our April 2nd meeting Insight social studies teaches yes Ben I also really like on the courses where it's already available that you distinguish between the

Middle School and the high school like French one has book Middle School iteration and high school iteration which I think is very helpful that was actually someone gave me that idea because I realized oh we have French one and we have French one at the high school and they are a little bit different so yeah so thank you point of having placeholders or some of both courses that are coming especially if I was looking at for the first time it's like oh have oh French and Spanish and that's it okay yeah that also wouldn't surprise me either if I was a prospective par French Spanish I don't want to tell that there so many others that are there just not on their right yeah no that's really good idea I'll ask Karen if we can

do that and it just it'll ward off some potential people complaining you know if they look and they're like wait a minute and it'll just save you it'll save you a dozen emails um to have a coming to tra you know stay tuned yes yeah any other questions or comments for Robin thanks for all you do thank you so much thank you for asking me to do this than for your support yeah no and thank you for all the support because I wouldn't be able to do this without you so thank you I don't know about that you've got Jay here you'd be fine yeah is good too policy yeah I know exactly okay so next business requiring action um we have two items and and a consent agenda Kelly move to approve items B

and C by consent Deb seconded um all in favor because we don't have anybody online for the note taker that was unanimous um moving on Robin you're up again reports and communication assistant superintendence report have my report and I'm I've been doing all the same things that we talked about a few weeks ago but looking at all the legislation that's happening which really now it's the mish mash they're having lots of committee meetings and who knows what's going to happen at this point they're combining things they're talking about doing one big Omnibus Bill at the end potentially with all kinds of amazing things so I've been keeping track of that and going to meetings every Monday to get updated on what's going on and presenting and pieces so yes Kelly just wanted to call out

because I don't think you mentioned this one in her list at the last meeting but I I I do think that um you know both Rob and MJ have mentioned the safety measures that we've been working on not something that I mean 10 years ago we every door was open every window was open in the build you know and and we've come a long way on that so thank you guys for working so hard to keep our kids safe sure and I would Echo doing it in a in as in a non-scary way absolutely which is appreciated so any other comments for Robin on her second report of the night okay um report of the chair um just really quickly I would like to welcome Carrie and Gina our two new members and Ben our

newly reelected member um I would like to say goodbye to Kim um you're one of the first people I met on the Handover board when we finally got to meet post Co in person um and you were always a friendly face so thank you you're going to be missed um we want to thank all the board members for staying in service um it it's been a rough ride I I just realized I my first meeting was like two days before the lockdown down um yeah so um it's been an interesting ride for me personally through this um and it doesn't look like it's going to get less interesting so um what I would like to do right now is to acknowledge the uncertainty and the hard work um that the administration in particular is doing

that the board is doing and that the teachers are doing and also to acknowledge um I think as I did at our first at a board meeting in January um acknowledge that some of the students might be feeling uncertainty as well and to remind everyone that this is a pretty amazing community and that there are people here to talk to if you are feeling uncertain or have questions or um just need a place to vent um there are lots and lots of caring educators in the four buildings that we have and so please find your person who can help you um and you know know that you that help is around the corner should you need it so I just wanted to acknowledge that there's a lot going on and we all need to make

sure we have each other's backs so um with that said committee reports nothing except for that the superintendence committee will start like by next week um and um Kim kind of an unofficial committee but like an onboarding Committee of new members I'm also happy to have phone calls whatever you know explaining this there's also a 72 page uh compendium that is welcome to being a school board member that actually has a whole definitions all the acronyms all laid out um and and actually uh Tony Barry who was who just left and I updated it um 2023 or so and I will send you I don't think I'll update it again but but updated it just to kind of get you a sense of what and I also take new them board members out for coffee

or a walk your choice after you've been to two meetings just because I figure after two meetings you might know what you don't know and so it's just a way to check in so a reward for making it through two meetings yeah def I'll buy you coffee or I'll take you on a hike session tonight I your two months jie yeah Jamie yeah and just to mention that I don't know if anybody said it already and if they did apologies um New Hampshire school board's Administration or Association also just posted all of the different oh yeah um seminars or webinars that are available from new school board members um it's the time of year that they do that and make it available and it's available to doesn't matter which board you're on because you're on

Dresden which is New Hampshire school district I did have a question Fe attached says it $30 so just let Ryan know we can take care of it at the she'll she'll take care of the money also Jamie I'm really I feel like I'm seeing like Madonna because I've heard your voice so many times doll time m I usually get that when I hold the door open for something and they'll say you know something to them and they like I know your voice 5 a you're the snow J [Laughter] lady okay um with that said just a reminder we'll be reassigning committees and Committee Action will be happening soon and we can now go to Jay with the superintendent's report well I gave my report the last meeting which is appended here um I also um

will be joining the board in nonpublic session to talk about well I I don't like that word resignation but um I as part of my contract as superintendent I have a clause that says I have to give a Year's notice before I decide to retire and um I just wanted to say publicly that I've given the board that notice as of March 7th um which is really strange to say because I won't be here another March 11 but um I just just hearing Robin's report tonight um affirms for me my decision because I I feel like I've been superintendent now and this is my third district and I feel like in each district I left in better hands than when I was there if that makes any sense and I think the same will be

true here um and uh I couldn't be prouder of the staff that we have and the work that they do and the dedication they have and the care that they bring to this job and and I can honestly say that about the board as well because I've never worked with a school board that puts in so much time effort and Care um to their roles as as school board members I've just never been with a board that does so much um and to put in the time and effort you put in it's it's such amazing public service and I just want to say thanks we're going to miss you and we're not talking about it right now um Kelly do anyone have questions for Jay CL by timeline for the public right now or well

I had to give a Year's notice okay so I gave it Mar just want to clarify that it's not because you said I won't be here so just want to clarify it's not living I didn't read it so I I didn't know about it until tonight I'm not moving so I'll be I'll be in the neighborhood yeah you probably shouldn't say that out Jamie Teresa Teresa Jamie and Teresa Teresa slides show tonight um so tonight we've got the auditor's draft report um I believe like I mentioned before they're still waiting on special legal letters once they get those letters then they'll release the final draft so hopefully that'll be soon enough um we've also attached a business administration letter um just kind of highlighting some of the that we're working on um transition between Jamie

and I meeting and kind of going over the districts by one by one the uniqueness about a lot of them and the in state district because it's obviously a lot different than just working in either New Hampshire or working in either Vermont um so we've been reviewing a lot of those different things uh I think I mentioned that we're still going over a lot of like the um standard operation procedures that we have in within our office alone seeing if we can kind of review these put them and document them and that way everybody's doing the same thing but it's also um as we kind of cross train it also gives an opportunity or should something happen um anybody should be able to pick up that piece of paper and be able to follow it

and make sure that the business continues to run as usual I think some of those things that we even run into I don't know if you guys experienced here but in 2020 Co um it was a wake up call for just even a business office to operate and stuff like that and what you thought you know it's great when you're all there but all of a sudden you're not you know so that's kind of the highlights of what we're doing questions oops questions for Teresa but we're gonna let Jay go first maybe she he has a comment I just have a comment I just want to say like what you're doing along those lines and actually I mean Teresa has screenshots of the actual software that we use and I think it's going to be

a great a great thing for us to have whether someone whether we have to have a problem with Personnel leaving or just like you said training people to be able to back each other up I think it's going to be super helpful and it definitely helps on a lot of the yearend processes that we do with the software you do it one time and then 365 days go by what did I do last year right so that's kind of how I got it kind of came about like few years ago when I started doing that stuff because it helped me a for the stuff in your report about the lime school district and their public meeting minutes yeah did they have evidence for those concerns or was it more like just hypothetical relationship stuff they

had a public open meeting of their residents um I didn't attend um I saw in some of their meeting minutes that there was some concerns about our ability to uh answer questions for them um I've spoken to the superintendent about some of the things I've read and about what I received from their superintendent as feedback uh which didn't align necessarily with what their minutes said um so we're going to follow up the two of us the two of you yeah okay yeah so we'll bring you more information in May okay but either way I mean when we structured it when we built we'll be okay you know what I mean so we'll bring you the we'll bring you the not only the wrap up for this fiscal year but if they decide not to come

because they were coming and then all of a sudden they had a public meeting and and they've kind of pulled back a little bit and so um I really want to go because I went and met with their whole board and their Administration I spent two and a half hours there in a board meeting and so I'm very curious to see firsthand from them um you know what occurred and and be able to talk through it because you know we sent them a draft it wasn't final by any means and I think there was some misunderstandings perhaps with the draft that maybe they didn't get answers to I'm not sure because I didn't receive any information or requests okay so we'll bring you back two and a half hours yeah we'll bring you well no

it's good to know them um we'll bring you back more information at the main meeting well thank you for talking to them and following up I really appreciate it's important because you know I want to it's important for future uh discussion because I don't think it's a moot point yeah you know the the the issues that they experienced and had I don't see going away and you know the players may be different from from today from yesterday six 10 20 years ago when we were together together or married whatever you know so I think it's important for us to follow and have those conversations so that they understand that you know a draft is not a set in stone thing we should be able to have a a correspondence and communication about it great yeah

any other questions for Teresa Andor Jamie no more snow days supposed to snow tonight okay yeah I did it actually um so we have a need to move into a non-public session may I please have a motion for that there's the language I move to enter into nonpublic session at 8:47 p.m under RSA 911-a col 32 see thank you Ben and do I have a second Ben thank you um I'll in F we need to go around Neil yes yes Gina yes Herman yes gen yes Nelson yes Russy yes and chrisy yes thank you so much we will be going into non-public we will return to public briefly at the end um just to sort of basically announce next meeting which is May 5th so um thank you everyone and we're now in nonpublic e
