m um hello [Music] hello how's it going alright thank you very much all right we're going to call this meeting order 703 thank you everyone for coming and i do note we do have some folks in the public tonight all right first time on agenda agenda review does anyone see anything they would like to add or change or move around right dr k for public comment i see no one's here in person regardless of folks online if there's anything you want me just to say for any comments or questions for the board please do so now if it's not related to anything else and there is your hands if you'd like [Music] yes so i think i'm looking at board docs and uh robin was kind enough to upload my principles report it does say

that it's under administrative so now i have said that sorry it's all good so i think everybody should be able to see it but we'll make sure that it gets moved into that public as well thank you for doing that thank you so i'm just going to take an opportunity to um just reflect a little bit over the year because uh here we are in june unbelievably and really wrapping up another extraordinarily um another extraordinary uh school year in both the most amazing and most challenging ways um so we'll just start with an enrollment update we've gained a student since our last meeting so we're currently at 485 students um in our last few days of school here we have some really exciting events but the ones that are school-wide that i wanted to highlight

our buddy field day we're super excited to be able to have an outdoor field day together uh next wednesday to celebrate the end of school the past two years we haven't been able to have that sure and then on june 16th we will be celebrating our fifth grade students with a fifth grade promotion ceremony that's open to families it's also our last day of school for students and as a reminder that's a new dismissal for the race school and as we're wrapping up the year two just thinking about progress reports we move to a digital format and those will be released to families beginning monday june 20th and of course i will include information and reminders about how to access that in our concluding rays of sunshine on upcoming fridays so then to yeah to

wrap up our reflection back of the year a review of our schoolwide initiatives and priorities that we undertook i'm starting with mission vision values and i am not going to read all of this to you i'm going to talk a little bit about the progress and a little bit about the next steps in each of these areas um but just to highlight that you know we started the year with an intention to do some finalizing and some continued work and finalizing of our mission vision and values and we elected to put that work on hold um as the district is working on a strategic plan and so this will be part of our future work at the school level here at the ray school under the guidance of the sau strategic planning i included information

from previous principals reports so you can see where we went where we were earlier in the year um and so the next step here admission vision values for ray is that we're going to revisit this work next year using the strategic plan as a lens uh for a responsive classroom this was our school-wide goal for all of our staff here at wright um and you can read through what that goal was as a reminder to yourself but in terms of progress of meeting the goal we had grant funding that allowed us the opportunity to host a four-day institute in august we collected baseline data at the beginning of the year under the indicator areas that are listed above engaging academics positive community developmentally responsive teaching and effective management during the first half of the school

year nan and i conducted one or two optional 30 minute training sessions every week to support professional development and teach skills and strategies for this goal we are currently collecting end-of-year data to interpret and report out to staff and of course to the school board and we are hosting another four-day institute in august to keep this initiative going next year it is partially grant funded and it is um partially well it's actually all grant funded some of it is uh federal government funding and some of it is pto grant london yes in the area of curriculum and instruction some of the progress that we made we did curriculum documentation professional release days and dedicated wednesday time in the fall and winter we had math curriculum captains this year and under the work of these captains

we reviewed math programs and were able to move forward with the adoption of illustrative or illustrative mathematics encouraging you to see previous principles reports throughout the year about that progress and uh we've already had three professional development days around this programming in the spring and we have three more scheduled for the fall so our next steps are to continue documentation and the implementation of im next year under the category of diversity equity and inclusion um i just encourage you to read through what has been shared in a couple of previous reports by jay and also by me at hanover meetings and sae meetings around our growth and work this year in the area of dei and in terms of next steps um we're working collaboratively with our race school teacher during her sabbatical and we're

also going to lean into the sa70 strategic plan to help guide our efforts and focus next year as well in the area of ddi for facilitation training um our second cohort of race school teachers has completed their facilitation training with chris ward from uvei what they accomplished is listed below as indicators and in terms of next steps we can continue nan and i can continue to lean on our trained facilitators for school-wide conversations about teaching learning and school initiatives um facilitation coaching will continue for this specific cohort in the fall and we're also going to continue to build capacity by hosting a third round of facilitate facilitation training in the 22-23 school year and then for coaching and i completed coaching cycles for individual coaching meetings with certified staff this year our goal was in

a lofty one was to complete six to ten coaching sessions with every certified staff member throughout the course of the year and the actual number of completed sessions varied due to a number of factors and but certified staff are now familiar with observations data collection and scripting coaching stances goal setting instructional frameworks and coaching conferences and so our next steps um our certified staff members have been asked to submit plus delta things that went well and the things that were challenging to us about the process and the outcomes and this information will be used by nan and me to inform how we better serve our certified staff in the future around our coaching cycle and coaching will have a role next year in the district-wide evaluation and supervision for program um and plan so we're

already poised and ready to launch because we implemented the trial this year so we're pretty excited to hit the ground running um all of that to say that we did all of these things and more despite all of the other challenges around zapping the pandemic and many other things that don't even need to be named and i am just so proud of the folks that i worked for at the rate school and all that they did and in these big areas that i've named but also all of the little areas that i haven't named and all of the smaller projects that they took on in their teams with their colleagues a lot has been accomplished this year against many many odds but it speaks to the character and focus of the folks that work at

wright and i am very indebted to the hard work of the folks that i work for so as we move forward into summer uh you see a list and it's not even comprehensive of all of the things that we'll be working on this summer um so we'll be busy and we will be ready come fall to open up for another wonderful school year here at the grace pool and so i just express my gratitude to you all for your continued support um for your trust and for making all of this work for us here at ray thank you all very much and it's a pleasure to work for you all too thank you for all you do um anything you want to tell us about the survey i would love to talk about survey are

you ready very questionable completely non-secondary pro pre-code we were talking about doing stuff with the basketball courts [Laughter] i saw um in i saw somewhere that kids are encouraged to take books out of the library and the library will be open over the summer once a week so they can bring books back that's just at the middle school it's not okay it is not yeah thank you but we are encouraging students to use their library cards visit the hell library perfect i mean take advantage of the program we got you discouraging them from reading yeah or anything tell us about the survey okay yes i'm going to keep it high level yes i'm going to keep it high level so in front of you what you have is the responses and the response rate um

just all for you to sort of view and um and see some just general trends and themes but i'm going to share out from the short answer and sort of my interpretation of what i'm seeing here kind of where our work is and what what parents um really shared as feedback that came out thematically both in the individual questions but then also in the short answer responses um to start off i'll just you know acknowledge that we had 87 respondents this year last year we had 180. so quite a bit fewer um it was also a shortened amount of time that we had the survey open and it was also later in the year so all of these things kind of acknowledging for our planning next year i know a lot of different surveys go

out at this time of the year so we just want to make sure that we're giving parents the opportunity to share feedback in a really productive way and it's hard to say whether it was timing or the amount of time the survey was open or you know the things that are on families plates right now but we have many fewer respondents this year okay so some themes in the area of school climate definitely a desire from families to be back in the building which we also feel it has been a weird couple of years without families back in the building gratitude to teachers staff admin and gwyn uh for welcoming folks into the school um gratitude for consideration that's uh being given to dei work um there were several perceived or sharing the perceived impact

of the divisive concepts law those that felt that progress is being made despite the law and um folks being afraid to talk about these concepts but then also those that really had hope for more work in the future and acknowledgement for the hard work happening now um there was plenty of feedback around the parking lot [Laughter] and parking spaces which is an annual issue um and then of course when you get short answers you have some on one side and some on another so just to acknowledge that there were themes around folks that felt that the school is improving and folks that felt like there are certain declines in school um classrooms and learning again this is two-sided right some folks want more homework and some folks don't want any homework at all so we

saw both of those types of answers and i think you kind of see that reflected in the actual question about homework too some people really want more worksheets for their students both in and outside of school and some people want fewer or no worksheets with more of an emphasis on project-based learning there's a desire for more clarity around the amount and use of technology that could be expected consistently year by year here at ray as well as grade by grade um there was a theme around the emphasis on supporting sel initiatives and parents wanting to support those initiatives feedback about progress reports some confusion around the one two and three what that means and whether it's really valuable feedback and an emphasis that we've heard before on on the necessity of reaching all learners so

um high quality tasks that support students that are in all areas of learning those in some enrichment those that need some support and those that are just right on track in the area of communication some themes included really a gratitude and appreciation for communication around coping but then also the feeling of that there was a decrease in the amount of information that was shared this year and that made some people feel uneasy and that made other people feel really good they were tired of hearing about it gratitude for teacher newsletters and updates and uh some sharings that uh folks don't really read the rays of sunshine um and and some do and i really appreciate that it helps me gauge the amount of time that i spend on that one weekly um and then uh

some acknowledgement of the updates the website making things easier and some other people still struggling to find information on our website that they're looking for and over the course of quite a few of those short answers there was uh the phrase excellent communication so that felt really nice for our teachers and for office and then um the other two pieces were appreciation so what is something that you your family appreciated these things included staff faculty office at your time a supportive welcoming school an increase in student confidence the supports and services that rey offers growth in both sel socio um social emotional learning as well as academic growth and a balanced fair other feedback i'm going to start with my favorite one it wasn't a theme but i just had to mention it um we

want swimming pools [Laughter] so there's something we could do about that that's something i felt like that was one that like i needed to share because somebody who might be watching is gonna think oh she didn't read all of the feedback i promised um um having time outside want more time outside for students uh desire for more rigor um continue desire for continued work around supporting social emotional learning especially when conflicts arise between students continued focused work in the area of dei um and then just the desire to be back in the building as families and connecting together as well as volunteering those with big pieces of feedback so to wrap it up kind of next steps an actionable space right now uh school-wide conversations around homework and technology we'll need to resume we've had

those in the past but they continue to emerge as themes um and then a really concentrated effort on welcoming families back into the school for sure um as as we reopen a little bit more uh it's not post code but as we went live um and then under the strategic plan just continuing some of the the work that i've already talked about is the next steps of the principles report which is continued um sel and academic growth work so using responsive classroom and i am illustrative math and continued dei work um to address some of these concerns and feedback and then just overall a really nice feeling that we are we're working hard it's being acknowledged and we still have work to do but i'm grateful for the community for spending some time average time

was 5 minutes and 13 seconds spending some time to give us some feedback about how things meant this year and how we can continue happy to answer questions any questions for lauren from board members or the public right so i noticed there was one or two or three individuals that had disagree or strongly disagree and i know it's anonymous but are you going to like last year sent out saying hey if you actually have a complaint or concern yes okay yeah so you can on saturday monkey i'm sure you know you can you can which is the platform we use for this survey it's called surveymonkey um you can look at uh like all of the answers together as an aggregate but you can also look at individual responses so when there were trends that

leaned negative i did take a look at the individuals and so there were several of them um but not many um but uh those those folks had trend negatively but i tried to kind of track what um what they were trying to share feedback about and especially try to see if they could offer something specific in the short answers i didn't get a lot from the short answer responses either but um absolutely i would really hope that folks that are really displeased with what's happening at rey um wouldn't stay anonymous and would feel that they could reach out and of course if it's the same people that are religion that's not delegitimized they're not at all certain yeah um one question i had is obviously some of the things there are huge multi-years to teach

you planning type stuff like parking spaces but um some of the smaller things do seem like they're repeats from previous years like the ones twos and threes and the homework they have debate um and those sound like those are kind of similar issues do you think it would be helpful before sending out grades and also before sending out like at the beginning of years actually putting homework expectations and grading into patients somewhere that actually explains those things yes that um it does currently exist in in written form so if you look at the progress report itself at the very top it does talk about what a one means or what a two means and what the three means um the previous family handbooks which is also like on the list of revisions for summer work

um did outline homework expectations but i think that it's more than just that i think it's more than just sort of saying what's to be expected i really think that we need to have the conversation about homework and its place here at ray we the last conversation we had about that was about five years ago when we looked at what the middle school was doing and how we could prepare kids for the middle school we did our best to look at what research at the time was telling us about homework with us again five years ago in order to make a decision that we wanted to give at that time it was 10 minutes according to grade level so we weren't assigning homework in kindergarten but in first grade you would get 10 minutes of

homework in second grade you'd get 20 minutes of homework and that was the that was our guide and that was our agreement that we made at that time um i think we need to have a bigger discussion about the place for homework now based on what the middle school is doing and changes that they've made um and what the research is telling us about homework and and time quite frankly for me speaking with my parents there definitely seems to be a lot of variation both in terms of how teachers grade but also in terms of how much of homework is assigned that's a great school level of different teachers yes i think that was stated what you stated was also shared by other parents in this survey um so i think it's yeah it's more

than just defining it i think it's actually having the conversation about why um and making sure that what we're doing really serves the purpose that we're trying to serve around homework and around broader sports which for those who are more part of it lauren and i are both on the academic subcommittee of strategic planning which is happening quite a bit yes and related questions i think around the strategic planning survey which is ongoing at the moment yes any other questions yes so um not really related to the survey but i think more principles report so sure um and this is a bit of information sharing in case you don't know so um at the last marrying across the norwich school board meeting there was discussion about how they've been seeing some kind of declines in

literacy particularly at the case or two level and i know we start kind of doing our statewide at third grade right and so i just it's more of kind of a question not for an answer right now because i don't think you were expecting it but just um i guess my question is you know as we're kind of emerging from covet and kind of seeing some of our particular and particularly literacy so that's kind of what i guess we're seeing across i'm just trying to understand if there's anything we need to do um to focus in there a certain particular area is it literacy is it not is it not something else i just i'm just curious if you can kind of maybe get a more some sort of follow-up on performance or what are

we seeing as a trend um i think that would be helpful so we can figure out where we need to focus um as we continue to heal from this i have a lot of thoughts that i will organize and happily share with you and i think that the one takeaway is that even though statewide testing starts in third grade we do universal screening starting in kindergarten beginning middle and end of the year so we do have data that we look at for our intervention services and special education services um that we'll be able to look at um and i'll be able to share out to let you know what the trends are here at ray and we are monitoring the students okay too yes i know you have the information and share it out thank

you so thank you yeah definitely anything else for lauren right along switching to business requiring discussion jamie looks like you have something for us on student transportation i do i did not catch this sorry i had to ask for this to be put on the august meeting but that's okay so we'll give you a quick snapshot now all right are you able to have all the information you need i don't have all the information to report out on this but um i have attached i'll just give you a quick word i have attached the correspondence that's been going on going since 2019 i believe and i'm sure prior to that even um there's approximately nine students in elementary school who live on this section of these three roads right a's the one further up from

hayes and then king road on this section um one family has reached out to say they probably would not utilize district transportation because they've got their routine all set there are four students in high school right now that i've known although it appears that two of those are babysitters so i'm not sure that they actually live in that area i think maybe they ride home with the younger students in order to watch them until their parents get home we are at this point have not made good headway with the powers to be in the town of um i'm going to try to reach out again after the new town manager gets his feet wet with some further questions because i don't think i wasn't happy with what occurred during the discussion we are looking into

the possible alternative size vehicles and costs i will have that data for you in august where we can maybe look to make that decision that would be an unbudgeted expense that we would be looking at if we decided to do something for 22.23 i can also tell you that and i think i've shared with you a letter that was sent to actually one of our teachers at the high school who lives the furthest out off of hayes and down the other side of the other road there that was a letter that was sent to her in 2019 about the inability to come to a good conclusion and that was after discussing with the state of new hampshire and our turn so still working on it um as more younger families move into that area i

think we're going to you know try and and i know the next question may be are there other areas where we have problems right um [Music] not like this this is a very unique situation not inhaler possibly in nowhere the line road situations and problems are very unique i can't even we have discussed that one uh six ways the sunday and nobody can come up with any kind of better option you can't let students cross a road that's a 55 mile an hour load cannot stop traffic on the 55 miles so it's unfortunate that students who live you know less than a mile from the school or a mile and a half have to ride the whole loop all the way up and all the way back but i cannot let them know ahead of

time to cross the road so i'm sure that will come up again and it has many times if you're interested in looking at more documentation on the subject there are there's further information posted in the 2019 meeting august through october so i'll brief you in august when we go through the roots and take a look at what the assets are that we have any questions for jamie on this i'm going to shoot today yeah some general questions don't we do are we not still leasing or owning a small van at one point we used i think we own a small school bus yes it's a 14 passenger um i'm that's in potentially one of the options for not having to purchase something depends on the number of children um and whether or not that could

be considered usable for daily transportation the rules in new hampshire are kind of gray and they have something to drive well so daily school buses are supposed to be orange not white um white are activity or athletic buses okay um because they're used for occasional use you can do that yeah that size of that bus doesn't require a cdl license to drive okay so there's a whole bunch of different i know more about transportation than i probably want to because i had a fleet of 28 buses at my former district and we had our own drivers but um there's some options there and that might be one of them kelly i would still have to get approval from the town to bring it down i guess thought when we do discuss this in august i

think it would be really helpful i know we've gone over it before but just to be reminded what our obligations are for transportation which i think are very minimal in terms of obligation not what we would like to do but obligations that would be helpful sure yeah i have driven that road a number of times looking at every type of possibility including building a path down through a right-of-way to another bridge that would go across to the library which town promptly shut down and i'd have to do it with the homeowner so um no but if you wanted to absolutely take a ride up it's a it's an amazingly steep road i used to live up there on blueberry hill and i'm the person who petitioned the town to close the road to through traffic

there's been multiple accidents that's me i know that's why i did it no i know and there's been even since then there's been accidents there was an accident there was one thing last summer yeah he didn't heed the warning how's that for a segway um coincidentally marcella and jay are not here to back me up tonight um so as you guys remember we talked about this at the last meeting there was some debate whether that was a first reading or a second reading at the time the policy committee after talking about it for another hour stands united please trust me on that um that we want to proceed with this we have talked to our lawyer or where he wants us to proceed with this we talked about this last time anyone want to talk

some more about it this time kim yes so again why are we discussing this it looks like for a vote tonight one of it hasn't been discussed at the sau but it hasn't been a first reading at sau or dresden which is our policy yeah i wish dave marcel were here to back me up but i believe this is the second reading for hanover it will be approached again address then in a couple weeks but you're asking us to approve something that our norwich colleagues haven't even seen more which already has one like this that involves signatures every year by their school not at dresden okay thank you for your comments anyone okay i was else curious um the superintendent um and i'm i apologize that i meant to ask this out of time um

there's a whole pair at the end um about the superintendent's role and i was just curious about that yeah the place of that in a policy that is school board governance and operations is there any particular concern within that paragraph that you're talking about no i just thought it was um it struck me as odd to have a whole paragraph about the superintendent and his or her relation or their relationship to other their their conflicts of interest it seemed to have a whole expansive paragraph about that within the foreign policy but as i recall it could be wrong with this as i recall that was part of the standing policy that's not a change okay any other questions okay oh okay all right jamie thank you i would just make a comment that if you

even if you pass it tonight if you take a vote and pass it tonight then there are changes that dress in the rest of you that it's just it feels odd to me to discuss it tonight i think it would have worked right right which that still yeah so i mean there's there's so a couple so there if we were to adopt this as written to men we would need to amend a couple other policies um so we're one to actually kind of on to the question of um why is the superintendent explicitly called out and um i didn't see a bcb you know it doesn't exist but it wasn't in our foreign easily searchable so i was under the assumption that this was policy but first for the superintendent i mean we have a

policy that we adopted in june 2020 gbev employment of relatives with romantic personal relationships um that actually specifically relates to kind of this um kind of employment nepotism type of issues um so it was interesting that that kind of correlated another is bca which is school director ethics it was adopted 1977 recoded in 2011 um and it says we should abstain from discussing and voting when a conflict of interest exists and just to clarify if we were to pursue this there are kind of two definitions of conflict of interest right there's this non-pecuniary piece which you declare um which i can get to kind of my thoughts on that and then the pecuniary interest so there's kind of two different types of conflict of interest right and one uh you know this old policy let's

call it even though it's our active one um says we would have stayed in voting when a conflict of interest exists doesn't define if there's two different types right it just says a conflict of interest and so it's a little confusing if we were to adopt this which conflict we're talking about or we need to amend that um and then kind of with the personal interest it is in my opinion very vague like i don't know exactly what a personal interest would be that i would need to disclose but then still able to vote and participate in the discussion i mean is it anytime we talk about busing and one of our kids rides a bus is it any time we approve renovating the track and i just happen to run on the track once

a month or it's just it's a little it's still a little vague to me in in the sense of how do we define personal interest and we're saying that it's even not that big of an issue because we can still vote on it so i just it's i don't know i don't know what good it's necessarily going to come from that and if any clarification there would be helpful um you know i'm just trying to figure out how to implement this policy and it's feeling a little fuzzy to me um on the non-pecuniary interest part any other comments before i respond seeing them okay so i'll try to answer each one of those parts if i can sure um so in regard to your bus example if you look at the definition in c that

is the same as any other person who also rides a bus which would be 2 000 applicable students and their families so that would not be specific to you it is also arguably contingent based on whether your child is going to school et cetera et cetera so i would argue that particular thing is not however we might be talking about bus route 10 the one that you and our kids both right on if we're talking about that bus in particular then i think would be warranted to say and as a parent whose child rides that bus i would offer this opinion which is again you're so in that case you'd be stating your conflict it's not pecuniary and then you'd still participate in the conversation so for me that isn't a definition and as you

know with conflicts of interest there are so many potential types out there you can't really have a firm definition of it and there's various contingencies in the letter with the lawyer that i think all of them have seen if we have not seen it i haven't fj send it to you that gives you a number of specific examples that would be helpful to see okay have you not seen one okay so we can have jason without um changing all of that it was my understanding you guys will see that so i apologize if you have not okay essentially i'm just listening to kim kim's hesitation here i think what is troubling perhaps is the word conflict which i'm not suggesting that we actually edit this tonight so it's fine with me but i mean having

a personal interest in something absolutely and i'm happy i know in the past you know i remember when my daughter was in second grade for discussing the class sizes in second grade tonight and i said full disclosure my daughter is in this class and has been in a large class all the way through every year and i do think it's impacting her and i have a personal interest in that right i think all of us have actually said something to that effect in various contexts without even realizing it that is so comparing right and non-direct but i don't know that that's a conflict so i think that's the word that's maybe causing this to be like conflict when you're getting money out of situation i think that one's cut and dry everyone gets that it's

the personal interest which i think we agree on but then when does that become a conflict because well anyway i think that's where the sticky feeling might be okay so yeah just a second i'm not suggesting the edit because um i don't see the actual word i see the word copy of interest it's from rick and then tony again i've been harping on this for several years that it should be binary interest black and white this whole personal interest thing gets so murky and it really i don't think adds anything to the discussion especially if we're not now requiring someone to be disqualified from debating or deciding so again i think it's clear bikini area interest direct beginner interest but what do i know um just there is a line that says after disclosing a

non-continuary potential conflict of interest so it's identifying a non-communicary what's in the scent prior sentence identified as a non-cunary interest has been referred to as a non-binary conflict of interest potential so i think that language is a little confusing i mean i understand the spirit of it i i don't have a problem with the spirit of it um i believe i mean i think it's just a matter of personal interpretation thank you personal interest and that's sort of the ongoing issues which i think has a specific legal connotation too which might be where the whole hold up is but like i said before you guys this has been this has been guided by the world specific language anything else on us anyone in the public came again and then we should move on so um

so i guess i have two comments so one um i'll end with my question so the first is when we discuss this with a full board what three years ago or so i mean this has been kind of a paranormal conversation those were there at the time it was decided then that we would pursue a pecuniary only because that was the only way that would make sense because a it would we all agreed that it was the time that you would withdraw from voting and any other things we had so many different situations we came up with that it was very murky what and apparently this doesn't even matter right like what i mean if someone doesn't disclose you know that you have a non-pecuniary potential of interest you still vote and you can still

discuss so yeah i just i feel like it's a stronger policy easier to implement um without it and when we discussed as a full group this is what the census was so i understand that different there are different seats and there could be different opinions um but that's just kind of piece and then i guess my question is from you know kind of the law trying to understand the legal perspective is what's what was the the non like the example of the non-cuny potential conflict of interest of which we don't have other policies that already address right is like what what would be that that was so important to make sure that we disclose you know i guess and that's where i'm kind of getting the murkiness of it like what if what if someone

doesn't disclose right a non-pecuniary as you may remember there's language in here that is new that is um someone else can yes that is that is what so basically at its 30 000 foot level the new additions are the personal interest and then there is language farther down i forget exactly where that basically says yes if there is a perceived compliment of interest by someone else thinking that someone else has complimentaries they can bring that to the chair's attention and i will add that it wasn't as clear before many people think people can and people have but there was an explicit policy saying that that is culture to do um and i want to emphasize here that i know some of you folks may think that this is me this is my personal thing i'm

not the one bringing this to you guys so it's the policy committee it is the administration is unanimous at that level and if we push back tonight he'll probably come back in a couple months anyway um was anything discussed in non-public at the policy committee when this was discussed not to my knowledge not our recollection but it's been several meetings not just the last one just try and understand to change all right business reporting action so i have a motion for b through e uh move to approve items [Music] and there's no one else no other foreign [Music] uh items but uh move to a groove item um gene would i do that exact language or should i change it i'm sorry i was i recommend your specific language oh uh move to approve policy

bcb okay we were asked by the meeting by the note takers and by jay and ryan if there was ever a not unanimous spoke that i should speak out loud since head nods and stuff are kind of hard to capture by the note takers so that motion was four to two with kelly tony myself and then yay and kim and rick nade we never voted but yes that's true correct correct because i think we should talk about the sau first yes all right thank you everyone for that uh reported share i have mentioned besides the school year is almost over it is the survey season as many of you know both parents and administrators and board fill out all the relevant surveys to you if you can people do read them and take them seriously

and that's all i have any of the committees that we should speak i know this is a meeting of the panel finance committee has met on may 16th but i think that meetings since then already i mean that's because we did we did anything else you want to talk about on that kid no there will be a hanover finance committee meeting on monday actually at my house we're doing a republican and it's welcome uh to come to our deck um yeah we'll be doing a hanover finance committee retreat of sorts we'll be doing some blue sky thinking of what the risks and opportunities are in the world of municipal financing [Laughter] all right so as we see ourselves not here tonight he got pulled into a high school end-of-year trip so robin is here robin

what do you have for us from the superintendent he said he wanted to wish everyone a restful and relaxing summer and to thank everyone for all their hard work over the past year and it's very short and simple and the strategic planning is continuing on as many of you okay assistant super any questions for robin as the superintendent today seeing them robin how about as the assistant superintendent as the assistant superintendent we are working on preparing for our summer curriculum work so that's really been taking up all of my time organizing that getting ready for our summer curriculum work and that's really it for me tonight so i won't go through all of them because they're all posted there we're going to overview of the projected end-of-year financials through data from june 6 with my

projections added it looks as if we will meet our target for the 300 000 that we promised as an offset for next year's budget um the other thing i'll tell you is that there's a lot of projects going on we're hoping to have the rfp out for the redesign of the main entryway by friday the cast robin is uh lauren has been working with cast who will be in the building for the summer about the spaces that they're going to be using and tony's actively setting up all of the different vendors and or other labor to follow through on a host of different projects within the school yeah renovations all you know small revolutions everywhere exploring maintain tramwork outside terminal the main the main entry will be the largest project so we're hoping to still

get it done before we open school so we'll keep you posted anything new or unexpected since the last time we talked about renovations no no we don't do so design was done um just they're just working through it with the architect about a couple of questions i think they filed for the part of this week so let the talent i missed prior discussions about the entryway renovation but i'm wondering what the purpose or reason for it is it's secure safe and aesthetic safety and security along with um part of our other project that will be hopefully completed this summer because we've had them now in hand for about a year uh our brand new locks on all the doors that are um special type of locks that five five-year-olds can enact you know in a

lockdown so it'll be just wondered if we've been hit with extraordinary expenses relative to the gas price increases and such if that's get us at this point we're not yet well it's hit everybody right right um in our transportation lines yes absolutely yeah we had savings though from consolidated routes so we should break even in those two lines we're making some adjustments to the transportation the general transportation line because we had a i think we had over encumbered it based on the fact we only ran a half a route one of the routes we ran a half a route in the morning that's all we needed to accommodate for the large numbers so there is an uptick absolutely deals at 675 625 a gallon so [Music] to start preparing for early on all of our

lines definitely yeah so we're fortunate and lucky that our buses are full and consolidated routes in order to make it as efficient as possible the downside of that the one you're going to hear about from our from our survey is that some of our roads are on the bus for a long period of time so we'll again look at the routes again this year to see it specifically the line of line cluster yes yeah and you can be a product survey for those who haven't seen it yet there's a transportation question i highly invite you to fill it out um the answers are not where i thought they'd be going as of now you're not going to talk about that on the side it is very surprising and we'll be sending out one just from

transportation for busing services too we usually do that then right around the end of july as folks start to sign their students back up we'll send an individual one so that people can put in what their individual needs are right as we build the roots well you say there's a survey i didn't get one but if you don't have kids in school you know this is a survey sure it's the strategic planning survey which jay sent it out i'm not sure to which audience they sent it out but it was sent out yesterday afternoon yes it is for anyone um right now um since it's still an open survey but um it is it's going to be very limited anything else for jamie seeing none as you guys may recall from our public board retreat

a couple weeks ago there is not necessarily a need to move into non-public for personnel unless we agreed there is anything is my understanding from them does anyone feel a need anything at all about going into non-public right now as we have suggested here yes another question about the the position of the person that i think is a matter of republicans anyway um i was i was just curious if um the 0.65 that is what the position is for if that's what it was budgeted for from the beginning yes yes okay thank you does anyone feel the need to go into non-public on this issue please don't hesitate i see none we will not go into non-public since we feel that i feel in need instead do i can move to approve hiring 0.65 fce

physical therapist as presented all hands in favor it is unanimous uh 6-0 for approving the new hire does anyone have any agenda items they want to add to the next meeting which will not be until right before the start of the next school year kelly point of order okay i had actually emailed like read you ran um to ask about removing the person's name since they have not approved yet um but i wonder if we should say the person's name when we approve it right here [Music] before the next meeting which is tentatively i emphasize [Music] i have a conflict of interest [Laughter] 7 58 p.m all those in favor i think it's a roll call oh yes for disney soul kelly oh yes nelson yes johnson yes and tina yes it is unanimous if
