streaming through youtube and we will be recording the zoom okay we're streaming thank you do we know if jay's joining us tonight i believe so he was just on the last meeting that's what i thought he's dragging his feet hmm i sent him a text to see if he's having connectivity problems okay there he is there he is okay jay can you hear us we sure can sorry about that click the wrong were you paid by kelly john or tom to drag your feet to slightly every minute counts they said okay so at this uh lauren i haven't even started yet yeah just before we get started uh nan let me know that she's hoping to join but her wi-fi is down so we may see her pop up in the attendees and then also
um when we get to the school vignette you'll see in the attendees list the two folks that will be presenting and if we could bring them over as panelists that would be great thanks great so at this point i'm going to call our hanover school board meeting to order at 702 agenda review does anyone have anything they want rearranged added removed from the agenda for tonight seeing nothing moving on at this point uh if anyone in the public would like to address the board uh oh hold on just that kim sorry under a gender review and it might already be included but um for the budget update i was wondering if we could get an update on um how our the process for our public hearing is or at least how we know currently um
just to help the public understand what to expect or if there's nothing to update then there's nothing to update but maybe maybe that can be included under a budget update you're good with that jamie got it okay uh public uh anyone in the public who would like to address the board if there's an item on the agenda tonight if you could hold your comments or questions until we get to that item but this is an opportunity to address the board on any other matter and if you're interested in addressing just raise your hand and i'll move you over so you can talk okay i don't see anyone so we're moving on to principles report so the race school vignette so tracy and stephanie let me move them over thanks and as we get uh them
moved over and ready to go um jamie or jay or whoever has screen sharing would you mind uh sharing the slides as uh stephanie and tracy present and they'll just let you know when to go to the next slide it's an attachment in board docs i don't know if i have that or not but i can try let's see i think shannon yes you do okay give me one second sorry i was actually working on numbers for something um yep one second i'm in the financial software program and they're not completely necessary i see them moved over i think as guests is it possible to have the their video live as well so you can see them you have to promote them to panelists oh okay got it loaded okay is this the one yes
okay fantastic so i will um start by saying uh that as part of our budget process in the many versions that we presented um we hoped that you saw the thread of importance that we placed on the equity training that we've engaged in this year here at the ray school and what we hope to do next year with some additional monies budgeted to continue our partnership with groundswell in our trainings in growth in diversity equity and inclusion or dei along with this very important work there are things happening within our school we could call them journeys explorations um but certainly growth experiences that are emerging organically as well um one example is the one that i'm seeding the majority of my time this evening too so instead of hearing primarily from me i'm happy to
introduce stephanie harold a fifth grade teacher here at the race school and tracy molloy one of our learning specialists who took the initiative to start a book group here at the race school i will let them take it from here and they'll explain the rest so thank you stephanie thank you very much tracy thank you both for being here this evening thanks lauren can everyone hear me okay uh so the book that we're going to feature today is cast the origins of our discontents it's by a woman named isabelle wilkerson she has many accolades as you can see in that little write-up over there i did a little copy and paste from her bio so i didn't rewrite this but one of the most notable things is that she's the first african-american to win a
pulitzer prize in journalism in her research and reporting is very well received she has another book called the warmth of other sons which many people have read it's been sitting on my bookshelf for a while it's about this thick and it's a little intimidating but she notes that she is a product of the great migration her parents had to move up to the north in order to get receive a better life for themselves and i'm not going to try to summarize the um synopsis so i'm just going to read this part about cass so that everyone gets the same summary poetically written and brilliantly researched cass invites us to discover the inner workings of an american hierarchy that goes far beyond the confines of race class and gender a book seeped in empathy and insight
cast explores through layered analysis and stories of real people the structure of an unspoken system of human ranking and reveals how our lives are still restricted by what divided us centuries ago and those were both taken right from her website can you move down to the next slide please thank you so i'm just going to talk about um we have our our converging road here because stephanie and i um came to this in our in our own ways i actually read the book first or started reading the book my friend elizabeth wilson who teaches it at dartmouth had been going to the george floyd memorial this summer and stopped at a bookstore with a friend and picked up a copy of cast so when i was talking to her later that's this past summer she
was so excited about the book that she went into the house got her copy and brought it out and gave it to me um and when i asked her to just sort of summarize why it was so important to her one line i she emailed me and what stood out to me was she said it helped me enlarge my viewpoint enough to get out of my own way and as i was reading the book i kept finding anybody i could to read little vignettes from the book or quotes from the book that explain things that i felt i hadn't understood before and i feel like even though i took history in high school and i took history in college that this this version of history is not the history that i learned and i even
shared lauren and i both went to school in williamsburg and um there was colonial williamsburg this was not the history that that i had learned um so it sort of just screamed out i think for a critical friends group and in the past we used to have a robust critical friends group um movement at the rae school and a lot of us forever ago to critical friends training and then we have had i think we had a book group a couple of years ago but this book given everything that's going on seemed to be the perfect vehicle for a critical friends group and one of the things that i think is so appealing is that it's an in-house book group so we are studying and learning and exploring really difficult things but with people that
we know um so that's where how i came to this and i went to lauren and said is it possible could we support a critical friends group with this with this book and she suggested that i go talk to stephanie because stephanie will share that she also had been talking to lauren yeah i had actually just had a conversation with lauren and nan um about my passion for diversity work diversity education and equity mostly because this is something that i've had to live my whole life being i wasn't going to say biracial but i'm tri-racial so you know navigating this through my personal life and and having to research a lot of this information on my own um has always been something that i've lived with and i had a passion for it um so
after meeting with them and talking to them about you know maybe furthering my own education in this and then having an opportunity to bring some of my own learning back to the race school at some point um i just i just continued to work on this and tracy came and talked to me and and it sort of just formed organically um and tracy i was reflecting today on our first discussion about the book i hadn't even started reading it yet um and then i just started pulling all these little anecdotes from my own life and she said oh that sounds just like this story in the book and um it was just it really came together just organically the two of us having a passion for it and really just wanting to learn more um
so i went home and i downloaded the audio version because um it's hard for me to find time to read with two young kids at home but listening to it to and from work and even sometimes in the shower i would turn the book on and just listen to it because i couldn't put it down i just couldn't stop listening um and a lot of it was new history and a lot of it was just things that i had to revisit so it was really really great to get tracy to get me on board can you move to the next slide please so we wrote a school-wide email and asked if anyone was interested and gave the sort of same um pitch to everyone else that we're giving to you tonight about joining this book
group and just how special it was of a book to us um we had and it's actually updated now we have 32 participants um so 32 people have joined us in this work and we gave people the choice to either want to stay in a group that stayed the same from week to week because these are sensitive topics for some people and we wanted everyone to feel comfortable but uncomfortable but because these are uncomfortable situations and discussions that people are having but we wanted everyone to join and feel like they could say what they needed to and from week to week if they felt more comfortable being in a group with the same people then we wanted to honor that but we got most most people who wanted to switch it up and hear from
others in the building so we have 32 participants and you can see that many different departments within our school are represented and um tracy i might be wrong but i think we determined that every sort of subgroup of teachers that we have here are represented in our book group the next slide um we wanted to just show you that we did provide a framework and structure for our group so we provide some guiding questions each week and we make it clear that we don't expect people to necessarily discuss our questions but as as people are reading i think it's helpful to have a framework and it's that the last question on here um is an interesting one because um the question being given wilkerson's cast terminology at the bottom of page 29 which you don't
have which descriptors fit you and when i got to that page um and realized that i am in the dominant cast um i i actually was taken aback um and and and not not pleased um i then read on and found out that because i'm a woman i'm also a marginalized person so that was made me feel slightly better that i'm marginalized um but stephanie can speak to the fact that she what was your descriptor um i'm the lowest cast and marginalized so i've got a double whammy um so so we have met um we met once organizationally just to set up ground rules we would have met monday but it was a holiday so we're heading into our third meeting which will be our second discussion meeting um and the next slide is testimonials
we asked people to um give input and we actually have like five letters written by members of the group so we just pull pulled out some different snippets but stephanie and i both have peop have had people stopping us because they've read on and they want to discuss something that's coming up in the book yeah there's these little pop-up impromptu discussions in the hallways all of the time with co-workers about about these topics and um it's just it's been completely organic and the conversations have just been so rich and not just not just within the book group time that we have um and tracy and i are our first meeting we were like well let's give everyone about an hour to talk and um it could last longer it could and it was from three
o'clock until 4 15 and my group finally said let's go home you know we just got tired after a long day but we could have continued this conversation um for hours and hours so we're just i mean we're grateful that our our colleagues have been willing to join us on this journey and we're really excited to see where it's going so we don't know if anybody has any questions but that's where we're at thanks for giving us the time thank you i think i'm going to keep talking because it's still principles report even though rick if you wanted to oh yeah i was talking you i was talking with them um so thank you uh stephanie and um tracy tracy yes uh my wife's actually reading this book right now she's uh can't put it
down and i've asked to have it after she's finished so i'm looking forward to reading it but thank you for the the information and uh sounds like a great initiative and lauren does anyone in our group have a comment or question thank you again teresa and stephanie and i'm gonna i'm gonna put you back in the attendees side kelly as a question i was just curious um with the equity initiative that were um that you guys have been working on was this it sounds like it dovetails really beautifully with it but was it so it sounds like it was parallel right is there any kind of common reading initiative going on with that equity group across the staff not that you know of okay just curious i'm not really sure to answer that part i
don't know lauren if you want to tackle that lappy too sorry so while there is not like a book that we're reading as part of our training with groundswell um each training that we have has uh you know some learning goals and some objectives and usually we'll have some videos to look at with some guiding questions or some case studies that we take a look at but the training itself is tailored to our district and does not revolve around a specific book but rather the aggregate of various resources that our trainers theodosia and brian bring to the table great thank you i will just say i have um warmth of other sons on cd book it is still like a library like that but we started listening with the kids and it is actually um
reasonably entertaining for older kids so just a small plug for that lots of voices and different speakers so thank you again thank you lauren i'm going to turn it over to you all right so we'll continue on thank you tracy thank you steph it is [Laughter] you started talking and the list of people in the group shifted just as i was pushing the button sorry about that well you know i like to leave you with a cliffhanger there uh what i was going to say is what you probably all can acknowledge it's um that that could be the bulk of the principles report this evening um because of its importance um i would i was also asked to report on a couple of other things so i'll do those two things uh now but um
hopefully not to the detriment of what you just heard and the importance of the work that's being done so first i will go through a couple of the key changes to our covid handbook you have the attachment there you'll see throughout this handbook this is the one that we originally issued before we opened school um updates for this version three are in blue and then there are other pieces that are um we have a strikethrough so they're no longer part of the handbook moving forward um on the first part just updates to who is on our race school task force so you can take a look at that it continues to be a large and representative group but not so large that we can't accomplish the task at hand um we did add to this
version of the handbook the new conference and progress report schedule you'll see that on page 8. another big change was the updated parent guardian acknowledgements in attestation form so we put the updated version into this version of the handbook and then we also made some changes and adjustments to how we would respond to a positive covid report both if we were to receive that report the morning of school before school started but then also what we would do if we received that report while we were in school in the original version as we were thinking through it um if we were to receive a positive uh results sometime during the school day we were going to shift all students outside to promote physical distancing and be able to make phone calls and get families to
pick up students that might be impacted obviously with the cold weather that limits us a bit so we've created some new procedures and the use of the music room to accommodate that need for physical distancing and then the pickups that would need to occur during the school day so i would encourage you to take a look at those things our staff has seen this as well and i will be attaching this to the rays of sunshine as we move forward noting these updates and hopefully folks will take a look at that as well so that being said i'm happy to answer any questions about what you've seen in the updates um and make any adjustments as well if there are things you have questions about and uh kim thanks lauren uh just a question um
on page three of the attachment um or of the handbook it says in there there's language about fewer than 15 days being absent and then more than 15 days i think it might be helpful unless it's very clear to everyone else um to say is it calendar days or school days that you tend to be absent um it wasn't clear to me if it was basically two weeks or three weeks that you know that's a great clarification and it is um consecutive school days so it would not include weekends or holidays as well so i'll make sure to add that clarification thank you anyone else comment or question on the handbook okay okay and then the very last part um i'm going to report uh sort of the the big view around um what we
thought we might see coming back this year and then what we are witnessing in the areas of academics as well as mental health and social emotional well-being here at school i didn't want to add just my own thoughts about this so i did get input from our tier 2 reading writing specialist karen dubois as well as our school counselors and other folks around the school and our remote teachers too so this is sort of a high-level view and if there are specific questions i'd be happy to jot those down and answer them if i can't tonight at a following board meeting uh so in the area of academics um i think it's important to note that we're trying to be very cognizant of not over assessing our students we continue to value this community that
we have this connection that we have and the relationships that are keeping our building open and making this a rich academic place for our students it can be very tempting to overassess students particularly if we have any concerns based on what has happened with covid but that being said per state guidelines we used the prior springs assessment tools to look at student skill levels this fall and that occurred in grades four and five that testing occurred with the previous year's test so for example our fourth graders were assessed on third grade level skills our fifth graders were assessed on fourth grade level skills um based on that we were pleased to note that on the whole rey students appear to be meeting the prior year's benchmarks in both ela and mathematics indicating that they had
the prerequisite skills for their new grade level so we didn't see that big slide that we had worried about as we re-entered school this year we are still in the middle of our mid-year screening we're interested to see what we can learn as we look at our students through the lens of their current grade level benchmarks and then sort of more quantitatively we have not seen a big uptick in students who are qualifying for additional services through tier two academic support our numbers are actually comparable to previous years so from the information that we have right now our students appear to be on point and continuing successfully especially in the face of this pandemic on the mental health and social emotional side largely this is based on our observations and interactions with staff and families
we feel that the mental health of our students is within normal limits um noting whatever that is for a pandemic it'll be interesting to see if we have any if we experience any long-term impact especially in future years as peer groups expand we really place a lot of value on what our families are doing families are doing great things to help navigate covid's stressors at home and we continue that work here at school both in our in-person and remote classrooms one of our other counselors noted that our kids and families are currently weathering the pandemic and all of its restrictions very well being present here in the building is a huge part of that and we are all grateful that we're able to be here in person with that remote option for those that need
it um we're interested this counselor also notes that they're we're interested to see if there are any impacts in the future and we'll certainly be looking for those things that we can support them if anybody has a specific questions our school counselors are always available to talk about those specific questions um and similarly kind of more quantitatively i suppose we're seeing referrals for school counseling just at similar levels as pre-pandemic times and our school counselors as well as our behavior specialists continue to be available to support students thank you lauren anyone have a comment or question regarding those two items great so at this point we're going to move on to business requiring discussion so the budget update um the note here says i'm going to be asking for volunteers for the different warn articles
i will do the same thing that kelly said at the previous meeting i will send out an email to all the board members to look for volunteers i already know kim will be handling a couple of them but i will need help on some of the other ones so please don't be shy and i guess uh jamie are you gonna give your budget update at this point i can tell you what i know which is a work in progress which is i guess i could have said it dresden too i um i didn't realize that we'd have this discussion now but um but either way um so we've been in conversation with debbie mclean carter and rob grebel and betsy mclean at the town level to discuss how voting um will look this year we
will be voting in person at the hanover high school for the hanover town folks we'll have plenty of absentee ballots available and uh coven 19 pandemic and not wanting to come out in person is a valid reason for requesting absentee ballots ahead of time due to accessibility issues and wanting to be as transparent as we can and knowing that we have families within our districts both dresden and hanover and with the added uh issue that the state of vermont will not at this point allow residents of norwich to come to a district meeting in new hampshire um a couple of things with the deliberative or district meeting if you will will need to happen we have discussed the fact that we really need to hold the district meeting in person um at the hanover high
school auditorium as we have in the past utilizing social distancing and all of our safety protocols that we have in place we will live stream that via zoom and probably also via catca tv right because some people do not have the accessibility for zoom but they do they can watch it on tv live um so we're working through all of the nuances of how to make all that happen um what else do i know um so jamie i i i noted in the i think it was the valley news this morning that the state of vermont has just put out new guidance for town meetings and do we anticipate anything on the new hampshire side any changes i don't anticipate a directive like vermont has done on the new hampshire side although they were working
on a bill that would allow for the folks in new hampshire to change their dates and or postpone them um but the bill was stalled i think in the senate we've decided that we will keep all of our dates the same because vermont our sister our sister district in norwich they're keeping their dates the same they're not changing them and if you can't change it on one side not the other it would be pandemonium uh you'd have people voting ahead of other people and it just it doesn't work out well um so we're keeping our original dates um let's see what else what other questions might you have any questions for jamie and then we should have the brochure books out uh the little bro the little booklets um we're we're hoping to go to
print not print but you know draft look at drafts next i think tuesday and then they'll go to print and then we'll have them out uh early in february do you need anything from the school board i know i got you the letter but is there anything else you need us to provide i don't believe so note just to fix my boo-boo on uh one of our warrant articles needs to be restated other than that no we'll we should be good to go we're gathering all the information for everything um and dresden took care of the other one earlier tonight um so i think we're we're you know what knock on wood we're pretty good we're on target so far you know we'll deal with whatever comes up as it comes we're we're working with
the um legal uh advice on our bond you know with our bond council um to make sure that we go through all the right you know all the right steps that we have to do in order to have it approvable in both sides of the state i've been talking with josh and working through that so we can bring some more clarity to uh the technology project here in the next couple of weeks uh through some of the meetings that are already scheduled and um we should be good to go so that you just pointed out that in our business requiring action item g is the restatement of warren article two correct i'm gonna discuss that now so we can vote on it i can yeah it's um in the original version i was working through
all three of them for all three of the districts at the same time and i inadvertently put in the language for the dresden compact instead of the appropriate language for a new hampshire school district and not an interstate school district so it basically it just um fixes the rsa for you know what what what oversees the process okay the allowance of the bond great does anyone have any questions for jamie about anything she's just discussed including the change warrant language okay thank you jamie uh robin uh covet update we held our coven meeting yesterday and one of the things i'm starting to do is to send out a weekly covet update just basically talking about some of the things that we've discussed in the code committee meeting and this week we spent some time talking
about the recent new variant of the virus and how we'll focus on that if it comes to new hampshire it has been detected in boston so we want to be prepared if that does happen we also have been talking about where teachers fall in the vaccination schedule we are scheduled to be in 2b in new hampshire and so that's slated right now to occur between march and may and we're hoping the sooner the better we also approved that we would allow the news media the valley news to attend our sporting events at the high school this was a change from what we had done previously so that was a close vote but we did make that change and i think that is it we did update our attestation forms for both the staff and students
and families and we just updated it based on the changes that have been made by the cdc in new hampshire and vermont states so so is that changed to the attestation is that what's in the handbook lauren the new language yes okay and we're sending that out electronically to all families so they can sign it electronically into all staff thank you are you hearing of any community members in the hanover school district students teachers that have already started receiving vaccines yes all of our nurses have begun to receive the vaccines most have received one already and are approaching their second vaccine so hopefully that will continue but right now this we've received 17 000 i think it is in the state so it's a limited number and then with the next round they estimate that
about 300 000 people will be trying to receive the next round of the vaccine great thank you um john robin um do you or have you heard of um any push from anybody's to push the state to move teachers up the list um because i know um you know we're i think the bottom in the country of teachers being vaccinated i think we're the only two that haven't prioritized it um push from above there is there's a push from the nea and i've been working closely with michael hensley and he's pushing very hard for it as well i know i was so sad i was happy but sad at the same time all of my former teachers in kentucky were all receiving their first round of vaccines yesterday so i was very happy for them
but hoping that we could receive ours soon as well thank you uh jay thanks rick i just wanted to um thank you robin and and the team for doing such an outstanding job i mean our between our schools and and the leadership of the committee um there are a lot of folks that that are out there still um in remote instruction all around the country and the fact that you folks have been able to to work so closely with our schools to see to it that um we're doing everything we need to do on the prevention side and that when we have had the few incidents of people contracting the disease uh outside and bringing it in that it hasn't turned into a situation where we've had the virus spread in the buildings it's really
just been amazing that we're here in the end of january and we're still in person it's just a testament to the hard work everybody's been involved in and i have to extend that thanks to parents and students people are following the protocols people are staying home when they have to and we're taking care of each other so uh hats off thanks thank you jack it's been amazing and a big thank you to our nurses because they work so hard to reinforce the expectations and to set the precedent so thank you uh kelly you're on mute thank you john basically asked my question but i just wanted to reiterate if there's anything that we can do not that i have any significant influence on anyone but if there's any letters that we can write or anything
we can do to contribute to that effort um i i'm sure that we would be willing to do that i know i would be willing to do that um i i do think that i will go on record as saying i think it's quite sad how um new hampshire has chosen to approach this i i'm disappointed personally so if there's anything we can do let us know thank you so much i feel like the community has been amazingly supportive throughout this so i appreciate that i would assume that uh our community members would be probably very interested in writing letters or emails or whatever so i don't know if we want to start a grassroots movement to let the new hampshire leaders know that we think this is a priority crickets but if if someone
could provide us that kind of information i'm sure the community would probably get behind it so um i can get the information to you great and uh now moving on to policy is this ben hello yep yep we have two second readings tonight both of them are very short a couple sentences uh hopefully nothing too controversial i think we've all seen them before anyone have any questions about the second reading of these two policies thank you so looking ahead to our action the approval of policies there's only one policy listed there we voting on both of them the student rights and responsibility is not listed in the item f because it's j i right but it's just not attached as a pdf okay so we're fine voting on both uh jake yeah it is it
is attached under um discussion items but it apparently did not get added on underneath uh in the action item so i can i can just copy it and put it in there yeah so just for everyone's uh understanding we'll be voting on both those policies tonight okay moving on to business requiring action um we're we're going to be voting on the expenditure approval uh the minutes from our december and january meetings approval of deputy treasurer do we need to discuss anything about that before we do a consent motion apparently not okay and then the policy uh uh kelly um don't do we need to also vote on sixth grade tuition for an article tonight did you did last time we did okay so we tabled it okay now the hanover language that hasn't changed it
was the dresden language that we were working on so okay awesome and then uh the policies and then the restatement of the warrant article 2. so would someone like to make a motion for approval by consent john move to approve items b through g by consent i have a second dan kelly mcconnell yes john yes dan rockmore yes kim kartmania ben keaney yes with a quick question for the policies we're also rescinding a policy can we do that in a approval yep okay then yes marcelo [Music] and johnson yes great so moving on to report of the chair as i mentioned i'll send out an email to you all tomorrow asking for volunteers for the presentation of the warrants as we mentioned at the dresden special meeting if you are interested in uh submitting to
re uh to stay on the board and your term is up you have i think until friday for hanover and then dresden i believe is next week and if anyone who has talked to you over the last year has shown any interest in running for the board please let them know and they it's a two very short piece of the paper you got to fill out so get those in by friday that's all i have i'll turn it over to jay for superintendent's report thanks rick although it's not uh directly a a race school or hanover school board issue i think it's important to to reflect on the fact that this week saw a commemoration of the life and legacy of martin luther king jr as well as the peaceful transfer of power with the
inauguration of president joe biden today and i think that's um with the large amount of stress that our nation and all of our folks have been experiencing over the course of the past year to have those two things this week i think are just a really um uplifting a bit of news for us all to sort of savor for a while um on another note i want to commend lauren and the entire staff of the ray school for the outstanding job that they've done not just with the within the context of covid but at the same time that everyone's just trying to keep school open the ray school has been really making some strides in curriculum development um you you saw that above and beyond what's already being done with equity professional development they've taken
it upon themselves to go a step further and this is this is all in addition to their day jobs and uh i just think um really the race school is is uh has been an example uh for for the rest of the sau and and i really applaud uh your teamwork and uh your leadership lauren so thank you and rick that's my report thank you jay you made up for earlier turning it over to jamie for business administrator report yeah jamie doesn't have a lot for you tonight i'm sorry it's been busy um i can say that we are getting quotes on the carpet project for the music room i spoke to the the uh director of facilities about that yesterday um what else are we doing over at the race school we are looking
at some of the security upgrades i know we're still working towards the um you know finalizing information on the redesign uh so that we can be ready to roll assuming the budget passes as that's included what else is going on waiting for the state of new hampshire to ratify some of the numbers uh with regards to their projections for adequacy aid information um trying to keep an eye on what's going on at the town of hanover with the potential changes in the net assessed valuations um that will come out probably around april i think um they'll finalize the list comes out april and may and just trying to work through what's going on in my office we're filing all of the reports off of the budget ratifications that you've done with the department of revenue
administration um all of the warrant articles were vetted by our regular attorney and then i i missed a little blurb there where he said check the bond one with your bond counsel so that was my error sorry about that um and so we should be pretty good to go i don't expect any uh pushback or problems with the department of revenue revenue administration on any of them karen wright was entering all that today [Music] so we're moving forward and then we're working with ryan and everybody to get the budget brochure mailers all ready and set up um hopefully i'll get that done the next couple of days and just moving forward we're doing all right i think we're doing all right in covid world too we've got all kinds of supplies on hand um i
would say to everybody that we actually had the i don't know if i mentioned it here or not we actually had spencer health who we've been purchasing a lot of our supplies through it's mrmb actually and it's spencer health is the brand um after going through four different kinds of pop-up wipes uh that was the one that we all settled on because we felt that it was the best for the applications that we were doing um not too much lotion not too much smell you know all that so and we've bought most of our hand sanitizer gel from them it's a very good quality um and so with our last order because we've been a very good customer they've had some really great pricing they are sending into us um a whole palette and my
team is so excited because they have to figure out where to put it all but they're sending in a whole palette of individual um 3.2 ounce uh sizes for free um as a thank you for being a good customer and i think they just have a lot of stock and they they need to move it through but it has a great the expiration date on it isn't until 2025. um so we're going to have about 5 000 little individual bottles coming in and we will be um sending that out to all of the staff and the children and the families for the families to use because i know we have a few families that are probably you know experiencing some difficulties maybe this will help them that they don't have to try to find or
buy this stuff um we figure we'll do that in two rounds we'll do run round immediately when it comes in then we'll have enough to do another round right before february vacation so we'll promote um again people to take care of themselves and follow protocols uh so that was very nice of them um and i think we're doing all right we've got enough supplies to get us all the way through to the end of the fiscal year here i'm hearing that we may be in uh in a similar mode at least in a few months into uh next fall so we'll plan ahead for that uh make sure we stay on top of the supply chain so other than that in the latest covid uh care act that came out was two three weeks ago
have you seen anything regarding potential funding sources for the schools i think right now what they're doing they're trying to figure that out um and vermont new hampshire do it differently so right now rick they're wrapping up the actual amount of expenditures that materialized from the first round of monies through december 31st because that was the date by which december 30th which i don't know why but that was the date we had to use everything or send it back to everybody in both states uh so right now they're closing up and uh figuring out how much money is left over from that first round of um of grants and then what they're going to do is marry that money that's left over to the new round of grant monies that are coming in and then
figure out how to disperse of it and it's been it's been the time frame's been lengthened so i'm sure i don't know for a fact but i'm assuming uh they will do another round that will go from january 1 because we obviously have expenditures that started january 1 through every day right that we weren't allowed to um apply for because it had to only go through december 30 but they've expanded it and i think it goes through jay correct me if i'm wrong december 31st of 22 for some of the monies yes so i'm sure they'll be coming back out here shortly they're just wrapping up the first round that's good news great uh anyone have any comments or questions for jamie moving on to committee reports does any any of the committees meet in
the last month and need to report at tonight i haven't heard of any uh ben police he met a couple days ago you'll see evidence what we're doing in a couple weeks great thank you um moving do we need a non-public tonight it has a placeholder for personnel but there's nothing there so jay lauren jamie i don't think so wow okay so uh we're gonna move on to adjournment so uh our next meeting is scheduled for the february 10th i know we're all going to get together next week for dresden and i'll have my agenda setting meeting probably around the 3rd of february so if you have something you need to add to the february meeting please let me know or lauren or rhian and we will have a discussion about it and at this
