So Good morning. Everyone can take their seats. Our graduates will be joining us shortly. It is very important that this middle aisle is completely clear. Thank you very much. Good morning everyone. Welcome to the 2026 Hollis Brookline High School commencement ceremony. My name is Sh and I am honored to serve as the principal of Brookline High School. It is my privilege to welcome our graduates, families, friends, faculty, staff, and distinguished guests as we gather to celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2026. Before we begin, I have a few housekeeping announcements for our large gathering today. First, please do not stand in front of the staging area or the aisles to take photographs. We have a photographer position at the front to capture. Second, for the purpose of safety, please do not stand on near
the hill behind the graduates. Please note that the front doors of the school are open. Finally, in the event of an unexpected severe weather, localizing our guests, we'll pause the ceremony, wait until conditions are safe, and then resume as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, understanding. Thank you. At this time, I would like to invite the following students who have committed to serving our country through military enlistment or participation in an ROC program to please come forward and stand in front of the podium for the singing of the National Representing the United States Army. Chestnut, the Army National Guard, Army, and United States Marines Ryan. Would everyone please stand while the members of the honors choir sing the national Wonderful. At this time I would like to recognize the distinguished guests joining me
on stage today. We have our superintendent Gina Bkoff, assistant superintendent, director of student services, cooperative school board vice chair, assistant principal, assistant princip. Please join me in I would now like to welcome the podium our first speaker class of 2026 president to deliver her welcome address faculty and fellow graduates. I'm so excited to be standing before you today recognizing the amazing accomplishment and journey that each student sitting here has completed. Jack of all trades, mastering perfection, you'll never mind too. However, I think of all trades over its us. We're primed from a young age that we should choose one thing to do. And while our answers have changed through the years, the sentiment has stayed the same. That we should focus on one objective and strive for one outcome. We've been to one specific area
or one specific career or sport or instrument or trade. That's why it's been so easy for us to underestimate the power of trying everything. to say that we can't do it all. rather than living in a city where their own cutting off another person who works as a software engineer also volunteers to fight and driver who gave out gifts to each kid near also leads to even our teachers inspire us to dip our toes in all the waters that can be applied in any area and encouraging hard work in every subject. In the classroom, we not only learn but also skills like management, the importance of work, presentation skills, and the ability to see the world through many different preparing us to do it all. Now, back to the quote. The jack of all trades
is a master of none. Why would you want to try everything? But that was never the quote. There's actually parts, Jack, but master of one. If you put your head down, you will be able to learn and grow. Instead, you should explore as much as you can. As much exposure as possible in life, but it takes courage to step off the beaten path and explore the rest of the world. Discover yourself and gain the perspective of others through widening your lens. In such a chaotic world, it may seem to stay in your own lane and focus only on the topic at hand. Often times the importance of diversifying yourself instead of letting the chaos of the world you let it encourage you to let it fuel you adapt and resilient changes. Focusing on truly living
out there, each of whalents, passions, and stories. You allow yourself the freedom to engage in vast set of experiences, that gives you the best chance at finding common interest and connecting with other people, preparing you to create connections that are key to your successes after high school. So, my challenge to you is to be a jack of all trades. Run for office, jump out of a plane, learn a langage, Build a house, plant a garden, start a movement, join a band. Go everywhere. Take every class. Read every book. Climb every mountain. Take every opportunity. Do everything. Go and show everyone that you can't be defined by just one thing and that they can't confine you. Congratulations, class of 2026. I can't wait to see what you all accomplish. You have the world at your fingertips.
Thank you. Thank you so much. I would now like to welcome our next speaker to the stage, your student body president, Ashley Disco, who will deliver her welcoming remarks. Good morning, friends, and of course my fellow graduates. My name is Ashley and I'm honored to stand here today at your student body. I'm incredibly proud of each and every one of you for making it here today. For nearly 720 school days, we open up early stress and contin all the amazing people I have the privilege to graduate with. So, as any teenager does, I wrote down everything I thought I had in my trying to find a message that I thought would connect everyone. Our class is made up of countless talented athletes, artists, performers, leaders and students who quietly work hard. But one thing behind
us all the four years ago as our considered cool and even more unsure of who we were. Since then we have changed that don't always show up on transcripts or resumes. We learn how to speak up to keep going after failure. how to sit with uncertainty, how to support one another, how to build a playground at 10 p.m. for a TSA break, and most importantly, how powerful kindness can be. Senior year especially taught me how important it is for yourself out there. Some of us became close with people we spoke to before and others formed in the most unexpected places. And yes, maybe I'm not the best example considering most of my closest friends have been by my side since I learned that a simple conversation can go a long way. I found myself surrounded
by people I trust and value for different reasons. enough people are willing to competitive streaks. We often hear about the importance of finding groups don't have to circle or project groups where I barely knew anyone. But most of those connection started with a simple act of kindness, an invitation conversation. or someone making me feel welcome. It reminded me that everyone has something valuable to offer and sometimes the best moments happen when we simply don't want us to carry that fear of putting ourselves out there because what if we could have been all about it all during these last years when someone shows kind Maybe it was a teacher who stayed after school while you were struggling. Maybe it was a friend when you needed to smile in the hallway or even a compliment. My favorite
lady, who also happens to be my mom, always says that simple thank you can brighten her entire day. And that's the thing about the smallest ending the most but they stay with us and memories of Friday night and will become stover that says life And yes, I had to include my childhood celebrity crush and my goto karaoke artist into this speech. But I think part of what makes life worth living is the people we share it with. High school is never just about grades, exams or accomplishments. But but yes, even have shaped us into who we are today. Every time they change someone maybe in a small way or maybe in a lifeanging way. And the important thing is they didn't have to make those choices. They chose to move forward. I also hope for
not because it caring resentment only us down. High School is filing instead of staying in the past and even different countries. Some of us know exactly where we're going while others are still figuring out and that's completely okay. And some of us haven't even reached that point. But wherever life takes us, we all get to choose every single day who we want to be and how we treat others. Legendary Mr. Be a flower, not a but in all seriousness, in moments of uncertainty, stay true to yourself because people won't remember every accomplishment or milestone. We can choose to hug our friends a little more share with classmates or compliment a stranger. At the beginning of the school year, Mr. asked me what I wanted my legacy to be when I left the school. At the
time, I didn't have an answer. So, I saw legacy was connected to state championship, leadership titles or achievements. I think maybe our legacy is the way we treat others with compassion when it gave the door opened or the moment we made someone feel that divided impatient and kindness is not a weakness. It's one of the strongest choices we can make. I also hope we remember So quickly for years we gradued by what we achieve but also what we give to others along the way. At the end of the day, this life was meant to be shared. So, choose to share joy and share support of sadness and share quiet during times of peace. No matter where life takes us, be part of the people we grew up with. of 26. As we move forward into
new places and new versions of ourselves out there, step outside our comfort zones and embrace the opportunities that come our way. to make sure we leave every room, every congratulations. We made it. I'm so excited for all your bright once again. Good morning to our graduates, families, faculty, staff, and honored guests. Today is a celebration of achievement, growth, perseverance, and possibility. And for me personally, it is especially meaningful to stand before you during my first year as principal at Holline High School and have the opportunity to celebrate the amazing class. Over the course of this year, I've come to know this class as one filled with personality, resilience, humor, kindness, challenge, and heart. You have welcomed me into this community and allowed me to skip the TSA security line. And for that, I'm deeply grateful.
Which brings me to a word that I believe matters more than ever as you leave here today. Gratitude. Graduates. I hope you take time to recognize the people who helped you reach this moment. Your families, guardians, teachers, coaches, counselors, classmates, advisors, mentors, and friends. None of us arrive at milestones like this alone. Behind every graduate sitting here this morning is a network of people who showed up for you. Sometimes that showing up was done loudly, sometimes quietly, but it was always consistent. People who encouraged you, challenged you, supported you, and believed in you, even on the days you struggle to believe in yourself. But as important as it is to be grateful for these supports, today also marks a very important shift. For the past four years, many of your systems and supports have been
built in for you. Bells rang, schedules were created, adults expectations were set. You were surrounded by a team whose job it was to help guide you forward. Now little by little that responsibility after years of people showing up for you. It is now time for you to show up for the ideology. Sometimes it's having When motivation disappears, it's taking care of your physical and mental health, setting boundaries, admitting mistakes, or trying again after something did not work out. It means becoming someone you can rely on. Showing up means that your future is not built in one giant moment. It is built in small decisions made consistently over time. It also means understanding that growth is rarely. There will be moments when showing up for yourself makes you feel confident. And there will be moments when
it can leave you feeling lost, frustrated, or unsure of both part of the process. Even though things will not always go according to plan, you'll probably experience moments of disappointment, uncertainty, failure, and doubt. I hope you remember this. Growth rarely happens during moments of comfort. Growth happens during reflection. It happens when you are willing to look honestly at yourself, learn from mistakes, adapt, and keep moving forward. Some of your most important lessons in life will come from the moments that did not work out. Earlier this year, we talked to the school community about the power of changing your perspective from to get to. I think that idea matters even more today as you leave this place and step into what comes next because adulthood brings responsibilities, expectations and difficult decisions. But it also brings opportunity.
You do not have to build a future. You get to do not have to discover who you are. You get to and one of the most important things you will ever realize is this. You do not have to make a difference in this world. You get to impact people through kindness, your work ethic, your integrity, your leadership, and the way you treat others every single day. You get to leave places. You get to contribute something meaningful to your communities, your families, your workplace, and the lives of people. And while that freedom can feel daunting at times, it is also incredibly exciting because sitting here before us or behind me this morning is a graduating class filled with potential that is not yet fully revealed. Some of you already know exactly where you're headed. Others are
still figuring it out. Both are perfectly okay. Heck, I changed majors five times in college. Life is not a race to have every What matters most is that you continue showing up, continue learning, continue reflecting and continue as you leave college high school today. I hope you carry three things with you. One, gratitude for the people who helped get you here. Two, the courage to show up for moving forward. And the understanding that your future will be shaped not just by the opportunities you're given, but by the choices you get to make. Class of 2026, thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your story this year. It has been an honor to watch you. Congratulations. We are proud of you, excited for you, and cannot wait to see what you do
