001Okay, I will call the April 13th East Kingston School Board meeting to order. It is 4:30 p.m. Uh, first before we um have a nomination for board chair, I would like to swear in our new board member. So, Tom, if you could read the statement that is in front of you. Sure. I, Thomas Cronin of East Kingston, New Hampshire, do solemnly swear that I will bear faithful and true allegiance to the United States of America and the state of New Hampshire and will support the Constitution thereof, so help me God. Have to read the second one, too, right? I, Thomas Cronin, do solemnly and sincerely swear and affirm that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all duties incumbent upon me as East Kingston School Board member according to the best of my abilities,

002agreeably to the rules and regulations of this Constitution and the laws of the state of New Hampshire, so help me God. Thank you. If you could hand it to me, I'll just read that last part. On the 16th of April, 2026, the said Thomas Cronin took and subscribed the above oaths before me, Allison Bryant. Thank you. And now I will look for a nomination for board chair for the East Kingston School Board. Paul. Paul Donahue. Okay, have a nomination for Paul Donahue. Second. All those Any discussion? All those in favor? I. Do I get to vote? I. Still have numbers. Now I'll turn it over to you now for nomination of vice chair and then we can do committee assignments, as well. Okay. Um I'd like to make a nomination for vice chair for James

003Brown. Second. All in favor? I. I. Um committee assignments. So, uh Tom, I know you know, um there's several committees that we each sit on and meet uh periodically throughout the year. Um some of them meet more frequent than others. Mostly it's quarterly right now, so Right. >> Um so there are a couple vacancies with uh Kirsten um leaving the board. Uh I know that we're nearing the the end of the school year, so I think the easiest way to do it for now would be for us to JT and myself to maintain assignments and maybe have Tom fill in the openings and then when we uh regroup over the summer, we can reassign Sure. as necessary cuz you know sometimes those board positions and opportunities and openings do change. Um depending on what the

004priorities are across the district, so um in terms of Kirsten's vacancies, I know that there was the um I believe she was on the superintendent eval committee. Yeah. >> And then JT, you had taken over the um policy committee. Um so I think it is it just the superintendent committee that Kirsten was She was policy, superintendent. I don't uh the other the other two are safety and security and strategic >> Which I'm on. And I'm on strategic plan. And so in terms of the superintendent eval else is there anything to share for Todd? I'm fine. I'm JT just did I mean just my thinking is JT just did the policy, so I don't know if he's familiar with that. I mean I'm open to having a discussion about it, but Yeah, I'm happy to do

005it. I'm open to I'm open to anything. I've only been on a couple policy um meetings, so Yeah, and like I said, we'll probably have June we we can Yeah. >> structure, so Sounds good. And I believe right now there aren't any um or there should be information coming about the superintendent evaluation committee, but there's nothing currently. That's the only one I just want to make sure I'm not just sitting on a ton of work on that one cuz we're trying to wrap that up. Yeah, depending on what the timeline is there. Yeah. Um I mean I could always do it. I've been I've I'm familiar with that. It just depends on when the meeting is, so if you want to just maybe pull back and I mean I'm happy to fill that spot if

006it's just one meeting before the end of the school year. Okay. Okay. Do you know what this I know they had sent something around Allison trying to get feedback. Just what their timeline is. I don't believe they have anything scheduled right now. So I think that will be coming shortly. Okay. Okay. So if you want to just put me down for that. Okay. I'll play it on attending that meeting and then again we can re-evaluate Okay. for the upcoming school year. So JT for policy and then you'll take the other three right now. Yes. Okay. Um we're going to move non-public on the agenda to the end of the meeting today. Uh but I did want to uh just note in the record that public comment is open uh as of 4:35 uh p.m. We'll

007leave it open for 30 minutes. And any individual comments will be limited to 3 minutes uh per person and anyone that does speak I would ask that they just state their name, their address, and their affiliation with the East Kingston School Should be open for 30 minutes. He just said Oh we did. Okay. Perfect. All right. Um approval of the meeting minutes from our last meeting on March 9th. We have two minutes to approve uh the public meeting minutes and non-public meeting minutes. I had no questions or um anything to flag from the public meeting minutes. I think you're the only one that can approve it. Okay. Um given since I'm here so motion to approve meeting minutes from March 9th for public. Second minutes. Yeah. All right. So JT abstains. Um you can still

008Yeah. I think you can still you can abstain. Okay. So we'll just move forward. I mean, you can do either one. You can approve them having read them, but um or if you view the the video, or you could go back and view it if you wanted to do it that way. Or just table this for now if you want. What do you want to Cuz I can view the call. I can view the minutes. So, we can revisit these next month. I don't know if you had a chance to view them. You could go back and >> watch it. I did not that but I did not read the minutes closely. Okay. Okay. So, um Do I got to make a motion to move that to the next agenda? Um you can just we

009can just table that for the for the next meeting. And we'll do the same for the uh non-public meeting minutes. All right. Uh moving on to a central office update, um superintendent office, Allison? Thank you. Just a couple of quick updates. Um SAU I try to bring some news from all of SAU 16 just to give you sort of the context of what we're working on at central office. Right now, it's hiring season and also recertification season. So, as our teachers and administrators and other staff are up for recertification, um we ever uh members of the senior leadership team uh each each person who's up for recert has a one-on-one meeting with somebody from the senior leadership team, and we review their professional growth over the past 3 years, and it's um I think it's

010a good process to uh to ensure that our our teachers and our staff are getting what they need for professional growth. So, we're in the we're heading into that season. Um the only other thing I have for this evening is we do have a resignation, and I'll look for a motion to accept that resignation. Um that is our PE teacher, Kim Cattle. So, we just need to have board approval for that resignation tonight. Okay. Um Any discussion? Is that effective immediately? Uh end of school year. School year. Um I'll make a motion to um approve um Ms. Cow's resignation. All right. Thank you. All right, Michelle. Uh is that Sorry, I lost you. Yep, that's it. Um Michelle, finance office? Yes, good afternoon. In your board packet, we sent the latest financials that we have.

011At the end of the last meeting, we had remaining expense of 142,164. Um this month, we had expenses of 43,948. Um those expenses included services to charter school, course reimbursement, fiber networks, which I called our tech department because I didn't know exactly what that was, but he said it was one of the major switches. Um So he said >> Switches as in like a like an actual Yeah, he said it was a switch, a physical switch. Okay. Um and then the office of the principal, that was a combination of phone, postage, travel, and supplies. And the maintenance and facilities, the McKenzie and Tri-State, I think were left in there by mistake from >> was going to say was that that was on last month, right? Yeah, that was on last month. They should have been

012taken out. It was actually pretty much because we had to adjust the gas and the electricity encumbrances. They were a little higher than coming through the spring than we expected them to be. Okay. Um we also had benefits. We had some employees make some changes in their benefits for additional costs there. So that brings us down to remaining expense of 98,216. Um we have that small amount of additional revenue, so that brings us down to 101,737. But with the trust that we had passed >> Mhm, the two from last month, yeah. that would have us returning approximately 26,737 to the town. That's as of today or is that confirmed for the end of the school year? As of today, we have not closed the purchase order process yet. The purchase order process is going to

013close on April 24th. So, we could still have cuz there could still be more substitutes and additional costs coming through. Got it. Um just a couple questions on the um expense portion. So, the the change in employee selections for the benefits, is that um how are they able to do that? Is it Is there Is it work like open enrollment like regular insurance or is there There are certain changes that are allowed to If you got married, you'd be allowed to make your spouse um as a decrease. If your child got reached 26, they would come off. Um if your child becomes two, you they have to be added onto the dental. If you're a new employee, you can add on it, you know, within that time period. >> Okay. Yeah. Um and then all

014other, I know it's uh minimal $522. I was just curious what falls under that category. Oh, okay. I didn't really break it down. No worries, I was just wondering. Um yeah, I mean, I could I could send you that. Okay. Um could you just remind me the potential um as of today, and knowing that things will close um April 24th, what the balance could be back to the taxpayers? 26,000 26,000 and change? >> it all depends on um Again, yeah. what comes through. I know we still have our legal case out there. We could get an additional bill on the legal case. We could have more substitutes. Um Can I jump in? Yeah. I can tell you that something that's not on there yet. Um So, these these are really old bookshelves right here, the

015ones in the middle. Um they're they're at their last legs. So, we had budgeted for this year, I think it was $3,000 under the library furniture line. Okay. Um we are I'm working with SST. Um the uh the gentleman who does the construction class over there or the I forget what the class is, the the builders uh group. Um so, he was just here today to take measurements. They're going to do it for us. Okay. Um I I don't know what the price is going to be at. I'm going to have it by next week. Okay. So, that's going to be something that's there yet. That So, there's no PO yet? That we don't Okay. That's going to happen. Okay. Um just curious, what are you doing with what are you doing with the old

016ones? I don't know yet. You're going to maybe donate them or something? Yeah, we'll figure that out. End of the summer. Uh I think I was out of my questions. Any other questions? Yep. Have we received Oh, sorry. No, go ahead. Have we received any billing for the legal cases? Yeah. Yes, I did print out um since we had brought that up the last time. We only received two invoices. The first one which we had talked about in the last meeting. Since then, we've received one additional invoice and we know there are more coming. To date, we have spent on that particular case $7,072. And so, there's two more invoices coming? We don't Well, one one more that we're aware of and I don't know how much further that Is that total for both towns

017or is that our portion That's just your portion. And so, that those have not been paid yet, is that correct? >> They've been paid and they were they were in here and they've been paid and I just wanted to give you that amount. Okay. Talk to you. Did I see somewhere to follow up on that? Did I see somewhere that the start of the budget year, the legal line was 3K or so? And is that just sort of a placeholder we've used in the past and forgot how to use it? Yeah. Yeah. Is there thought of needing to bump that up in future years? And so, the the budget that obviously we adopted a couple weeks ago tell me like is that that's the high level, right? Or is it at this point of view

018already parceled the whole thing out down to the quarters? Next year's budget is already set. Yeah, fully parceled out. When you um so you said 24th the books close. Is the Is the school year budget until literally April 24th and the new year starts or is it No, we run July 1 to June 30. It is. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So in theory then there's still a fair amount that can come through between now and June 30. We hope not. We asked them because we need to clean up and we need to be ready for the end of the year for the auditors to come in. >> Right. Um and basically by the time we roll over to April vacation school is pretty close to being done and they should know what they need to order

019for supplies and things like that. All salaries and stuff are already encumbered. Um we usually have a pretty good idea of the encumbrances that we need for utilities and health benefits and stuff like that. We you know, it's the odd changes that happen in between that we just don't know about. >> Yeah. Okay. Um but the the majority is should already be in here and encumbered. The only thing we don't encumber is substitutes. Got it. Okay. Thank you. Um just to follow up on Thomas' question. So hypothetical scenario looking ahead next year. We have say 3K line item for legal budget. If we were to anticipate you know, at the beginning of the school year that maybe there might be a need for more. Is there a way that we could pull from something else

020to put more money in that fund or Because we we basically run on bottom line. So we don't do what we call um budget moves or budget journals. Um what we do is we like to actually have everything hit the exact line so that when we're budgeting next year, so September, October, November as we're budgeting for fiscal '28, we're going to see exactly what it's really costing us so that we can we can talk about adjusting that amount then. Okay. Okay. Thank you, Michelle. You're welcome. All right, let's go back up to the agenda. All right, so moving on next to uh principal's report, Grant. Thank you. Uh last month we had uh our two amazing performances, our Suzu our Suzu kids team. Uh both students and and and staff put on two phenomenal performances

021uh Friday and Saturday and uh I just I I would like to highlight the work our staff does because so much goes into the planning and prep for this and we start we start meeting about this in August. Um and um and then there's work done throughout the fall then obviously once once November comes and auditions and and everything starts but they they put so much time and effort in into uh the performance and the kids did an amazing job and I would like to highlight the staff. Uh teacher Miss Smith uh Mr. K, our music teacher Mrs. Durbin, one of my paraprofessionals, Miss George who works in the kitchens, our professional, Mrs. Beverage, paraprofessional and we've had a senior from our high school, Abby Manning, that spent three years with us. Uh she's graduating

022this year. So they they did an amazing job uh for all those months and we're so proud of of everything they accomplished. Our enrollment numbers as of uh April 2nd, we have um 120 students here. Uh we did lose one one first grader, so now we have 25 in kindergarten, 17 in first grade, 18 second grade, 26 third grade, 22 fourth grade, and 12 fifth grade. Right now, we have 17 students registered for kindergarten. Um we were anticipating over 20 just based on the number of siblings that we have in the building, but uh we we only have a handful of of students who um we were um not aware of registered so far. There's always the chance that we could have over 20, but right now we have 17. Um and the other thing

023I wanted to touch base on today, we've Your kids are all third and fourth grade, so they have been participating in the the reading and writing pilots this year. Um and we have spent a lot of time as a staff discussing obviously the pilots, and we're going to be looking to adopt a program in May or June, but what we really noticed with having a math program that's vertically aligned K-5 and a reading pilot and then next year reading program, the multi-age has been a real challenge. Um our students in third and fourth grade, and even first and second grade, have multiple teachers in a day, multiple transitions, um parents not knowing exactly who to speak to about their child depending on whether it's a wind block or a reading block or a math block

024or or it's more like a middle school model, which our youngest learners are not ready for that yet. So, because of that we we've had we've had months of discussion about what's going to fit best for our school knowing that we're going to have two traditional grade level based programs between math and reading and writing next year. And we're going to we're going to move away from the multi-age uh classroom starting in in August. We know the benefits of multi-age, and we love the benefits of multi-age like balancing classrooms and the leadership roles students have, looping with the same teacher as much as we can, but the feedback we've received from parents this year and from staff, especially in first and fifth and fourth grade, that the multi-age really hasn't been what we were hoping

025it was going to be with the two programs. So, I just wanted to let the board know I'm going to inform parents that I'm going to send a letter to families tomorrow. This is the move we're going to make and I'll say some families love the multi-age for all the reasons I talked about as do we, but it just makes the most sense for our kids and for their learning next year to move to a more traditional grade level based classroom. What would um I don't know, maybe you're still talking about this, but like in terms of the structure of the classes, number of students per What does that look like next year knowing that the change is coming? >> Yeah, so we're going to have We're going to have some classrooms that are going

026to be like 25 in a classroom, which for us typically hasn't been you know, that way. We have We have a large third grade class, current third grade class, that it will be one fourth grade next year. Things could change depending on the kindergarten. You know, if we have two kindergarten, then it would be one large fourth grade class. If we still have one kindergarten next year, like we have currently right now with 17, it would be one kindergarten class. That way we'd be able to split that large fourth grade class up next year. So, the kindergarten really drives how we navigate the classroom setups based on our youngest learners need more of the smaller class setting. So, it's going to be a year-to-year conversation depending on our kindergarten enrollment. Which the multi-age has really

027helped balance those in previous years. Based on current registration for kindergarten, you said 17 and current enrollment, if my numbers are correct, are you anticipating as of right now 125 students to start the 2026-2027 school year? Okay. What did we start with this year? Was it 118? I think we were 113. >> 113? I think so. I think it was 113. I can check if you want me to, but Yeah, I was just wondering. Um more question for Allison and maybe you don't have to this now. I was just curious, other school district other schools in the district um that are similar in size to us, have any of them done the multi-age model? And are they also finding this I'm just curious what >> Yeah. What We're the only ones that have the multi-age

028model. Yeah. And you know, they're really smaller schools like us and North Fields and Kensington. They've also been challenged with trying to balance our classrooms, right? Because you could have a large class and then a small class. So it's it's just one of those things that we're going to have to really talk year by year on what makes the most sense, but um with everything the way it it turned out this year, it it just didn't make sense for us to to do that to the kids again for a full year. Is there a number you would say is sort of the max class size? Um we really look at K to 2 and 3 to 5. Um if if you look at what the state recommends, 30 is the max for 3 to 5

029and 25 is the max for K to 2. We never We never want to get to those numbers. Um and we'll continue to monitor this, you know, year to year just to see um if we ever get to that max number that the state recommends. It's It's not something that East Kingston has been known for, right? And we want to do the best we can to keep as small class size as we can because it's one of the positives of being a an East Kingston resident, you know, not to send your students here. So is your thought right now that the K, if it stays around the 25, it becomes two first grade classes? Next year's K? >> Yeah. No, no, next year's first. Yeah, it would be two. It would be two small classes.

030And then basically four, three and four, as in three and four and five, will probably just stay as one block of kids. Yep. Great. Any other questions on multi-age? I I know this is a big I think. So yeah, like I said, I'll be sending a letter home to families tomorrow and kind of explaining what we just talked about here. Um and then the other thing um on my uh principal four is the East Kingston uh calendar. So, we've uh the SAU approved their calendar a couple months ago and um there's only a couple changes that I I would uh ask for approval on for next year for East Kingston. We had some flexibility across the SAU on the October 9th day. October 9th, the SAU initially approved it an in-service day. Um but because

031if you look at our if you look at the calendar, where it's really tricky next year, we have the primary voting day in April uh sorry, in September uh September 8th, which extend the Labor Day weekend to 5 days for students. And we have the day off again in October for Columbus Day. So, what what I have done on this calendar is I've taken that October 9th day and made it a school day for students and pushed that in-service day for staff to January 15th. So, we were able to to flex that day. I don't know if all schools are doing that. I know a bunch of schools are taking that October 9th day and moving it to fit their their schedules better. And then the other addition to this that's not on the SAU

03216 calendar is our typical April conference day to have an early release, which I have in here for um April 9th. So, they originally were going to have a long 4-day weekend on the 9th and then with 12th off on Monday. Yeah. Yeah. So, that's not going to move to January. >> January 15th with the holiday on the 18th, so there's still a 4-day weekend in there. Okay. Do you have a motion on that? Yes. Yeah, we have it under new business, but we can take care of it now. No, it's totally fine. I was going to ask you to talk to the school board anyway, so we just wanted to really make sure that this calendar got approved tonight. So, it's fine to do do now and then um we don't have to do

033it later. I'll move it. Yeah, second. Great. Thank you. All right, we're done with that. We're done with that. All right, that's it for me. Great. Uh next up we have uh board reports and committee reports. Uh JT, do you want to cover off on any policy updates? Uh I'll take a few things here with you so Yes, we had policy BBAA, BBBC, BBBF, BCA, BDB, and BEDG. Um If I recall, there weren't any significant changes. Um A lot of just uh some of the renaming of the policies and then some small um just content changes. Um Yeah, it's like they're all revisions. Yeah, they weren't I think from the last meeting there weren't any significant changes to the actual policies. It was more just um just some up- updates to the wording. So just

034some minor revisions. I don't think some of these we just hadn't reviewed in a while so like JT said they were they were minor and listed in your um brief they are descriptions here on the the policy revision briefs that you have. And then there was also policy KF which I'm not sure if you mentioned that one. KF, I did not. Also KF. So guys, like two or three questions. So first one, just generally on policy, so is it the SAU board that generally approves policy change and then for us this is largely a FYI or No, you'll so there's the policy committee is comprised of uh there's a member from each district board and there's discussion about the policy and then the the um your board member will come back and report back, but

035it's really up to your board to up adopt, approve, or sub sub >> Amend language, yeah. We're trying to streamline so that all of the districts have similar language in their policies, but it's really up to every district. So, if there was something in a policy that didn't feel right for East Kingston or if you wanted to add something or change something, that's that's at the purview of the board. Yeah, I think we've done need like one change to the um basically stating our affiliation. I know that was one Kirsten streamlined changes to the overall policy. Got it. It was specific to our town. Yeah, so at each meeting you'll get a a review and then look to approve them or table them or, you know, whatever you decide to do as a board. Got

036it. Uh the second one was on that KAF policy. What was sort of the impetus there compared to seemingly before this local group would have control over when people are in and out of building and now it seems like it's I don't remember now. So, this one was brought by a committee member. You'll notice it's not in the B book, which is where all of the other ones were. So, we did just bring that because it was at the request of a committee member. And I'm just trying to scroll down to refresh. 30 page 36 in the packet, I think. Um Actually, I think the only change This was just for review um and then at the committee um the committee talked about just revising some language to clarify um the that the board delegates

037the the that the superintendent can approve the facility use requests. I think that was the nature of it. >> Yeah, I guess that's what I was trying to figure out. So, previously was essentially the this board would delegate to the principal to say you can decide who runs it and now is it No, it was it was just the wording like it it was still the same. It was still does it delegated to the superintendent. The committee just felt like the wording wasn't clear. >> Got it. Okay. Yeah, Tom, if you just I I don't have to tell you how things are red lined, but if you look at what's striked through, that was the previous language. Then the new language is shortly thereafter. So, it's just sometimes to Allison's point, it's a matter of

038rewording some of these policies to align with the policies across the district. Right. >> So, somebody else may have proposed this language and they liked it in other districts and then now they're making the change wholesale. Fair enough. So, yeah, typically when we review these, you're going to see whatever what changes red line striked through and the new text. >> Right. Right. Yeah, I guess I was struggling with right to authorize use of facilities should be retained by the board versus the new language the board shall delegate to the superintendent. >> what you're saying. The authority to use facilities. I the sense I got from the committee was the the new language was more in the spirit of what they were trying to yeah. >> Okay. Okay. Got it. Are there any questions on policies

039so I can make a motion to uh approve the policies. Should I read them Allison or You can just as listed. As listed. Second. All in favor. All right. Um I didn't finish yet. All right. Safety and security. Uh I'll cover off on safety and security, excuse me, and strategic plan committee. Um from my understanding, I haven't seen any emails come through about any um So, you know, year end meetings, but I know that they're going to be forthcoming uh at some point here in the next couple of weeks, I would assume. Do you have any update Allison for that? >> update. Okay. Um Superintendent email committee, I know we discussed that at the outset of the meeting. Um I'm unaware of when the next meeting might be, so if you have >> that's to

040be determined. >> as well. Okay. Great. Um Starting off on policies, so we can jump back up to school board goals. Those are right at the top of the agenda. Tom Yes. You have those listed, each of us owns a goal. Um JT has community engagement, which I believe is goal number one. Um Or number two, excuse me. Uh, goal number one was Kirsten's goal, so that's more focused on academics. JT's number two, focused more on community engagement. Um, mine is number three, and that's uh, part of the capital improvement plan here at the school itself. Um I have no major updates to share uh, in terms of capital improvement. JT, anything on community engagement? No major updates. Um, you know, I have to reach out to the um Eagle Scout about his benches. Okay.

041Um, with the weather being nicer, I'm sure uh he's probably working on that, so I'll follow up with him, but outside of that, no major updates. What else is going on back there? Any any new work being done back there, though? I feel like I can't talk for that For the after after classroom, the the gentleman that was here from SST today, they're going to have the whiteboard done by next or latest next week. Uh, Mr. Mizzy and Mr. Benjamin are going to um dig some holes for uh, to to pull some 4x4s in there that the whiteboard's going to attach to. Um, and you know, we're expecting after break in May that we're going to uh, get the benches out there and have our kids back there. Okay. Awesome. Great. Um, and that's going

042to be open to the public all year round, correct? I mean, there's not there's not much you can do back there other than sit. Yeah. Um but yeah, it'll be Um so Tom, just in terms of goals, you know, just like with the board of selectmen, we'll meet, you know, at the end of the school year and re-evaluate and adjust the goals if need be and assign those to individual board members, so. All right, just a couple of questions, all right. One, in theory, I'd be curious in your your bold stocks, but in theory, you could reorient those if that's what this group decided, right? Like my recollection was there's sort of a guidance from the state on you should have board goals around these general ideas, right? >> Mhm. Okay. Yeah, we've made some

043Oh, sorry, what did you say? We've made some minor changes to the language over the years. I've been on the board for 2 years now, I've been on the committee for a year or so. Um and there's just been some slight tweaks to those just to adjust with what we've either accomplished or achieved or what the priorities might be, but they have pretty much remained the same thematically, so. Perfect. Is there a place to easily find any of the two sort of base documents or the either the triennial reports and then the capital plan from 22-23? How do I get a copy of those? So Brandon, I wasn't on when the um audit was completed. So is there is there actually like a physical audit like either or a virtual document that Tom could look

044at in terms of the audit? >> It's Or is it just that >> It's just >> just the Excel that we had put together? Yeah. So yes, there is something that we can share with you. Um and then what were you What were you going to say? What was the first question, Tom? >> Uh so uh what was Kirsten's goal, right? The public discussions with administration about the triennial reports on student academic growth and learning. Is that actually a set of reports somewhere? So it's I mean, I guess you guys can talk about it next year, but it's something we do every every year anyways. Um every fall, winter, and spring, I review our in-house um data like I-Ready, you know, specifically. And then once our our NWEA scores become available we'll review those two.

045So I just update the board every every year or three times a year. It's 5:05 so I am now closing public comment. Any questions Tom or duty on board goals? No. New business and we already covered off on the calendar. I did want to mention something that I kind of came across um last week I had saw a Facebook post that just had mentioned something about um a decision here in town for the seniors senior banners that we've seen up on telephone poles the last couple years. I think it's a great tradition. From my understanding that was voted not to happen this year. So granted I I don't know if there's anything that we could maybe do here at the school. I think just to recognize those kids they've obviously gone through this school or

046have lived here in town for a long time and I know the parents would probably greatly appreciate that. So um I just wanted to throw that out there. We can table this or chat about this now. No I I I would love to figure out a way to recognize our high school seniors within town who have gone through here. I I I know we're limited on what we can do but I mean I'm thinking just off the top of my head the grass that we have in front of you know where the sign is out there if I know it's not as elaborate the banners used to be on but um I think if if the parents wanted to do something similar and we just housed it here on our school property we can definitely

047put that on the side of the road and we all we also have um our uh senior recognition here in June the seniors getting their caps and gowns and come through our building and so I I think we can make a big deal out of it if the parents are willing to um be creative with us and figure out a way to didn't that yet. Yeah, I don't have enough information, but from my understanding I believe the parents paid for the banners and then just the town had put them up for them on their behalf. So, I think this would potentially be something that wouldn't be any cost to us. >> a difference, right? So, I'm curious. Funny, I had similar thought and it wasn't sure if this was the appropriate venue for it, but

048since you started it. Is there something I I think it's a decision that was made, but seemingly still an open question based on some of what I've seen. Oh, yeah. That's something that I kind of took from it, too. Like is there a role, would it be inappropriate for this group to in some way try to express an opinion on that? Like to to the point that I think Brandon made and I think you started with Paul was like 95 more of the percent of the kids that would have their banners up probably go through this place. And how do you sort of show that to the kids that are here now? It's like, "Hey, someday Yeah. Stick it out." Um I don't I'm not sure again the particulars. Again, I just saw it on

049a Facebook post on the absolute the absolute East Kingston. There is a meeting tonight they actually mentioned. I'm going to head over there. I'm going to check that out, but Yeah, from what I took is some of it was in terms of a distraction of driving. And then there was cost associated with it, but it was not so much the the banner cost, but whatever cost of putting installing them. I mean, there are holidays, there are flags hanging from the same poles. Um so, it doesn't seem like a a huge reach to have some say in it. Yeah, I think that's sort of the question. It's like would it be appropriate? Is it timely for a group this group to be able to say to the selectmen of the town, "Hey, we think this is

050a good idea. We should give it some additional consideration." Or does it feel like that's overstepping sort of our boundaries as a different group in town? If you go to selectmen, you just maybe Yeah, I think it's an okay suggestion. At least provide some thought on it. Anything else for new business? We can move down to old business. Any old business? Okay. Um, do you believe we are now going to move into non-public? And uh, we are going to do that in accordance with chapter 91A {colon} 3 uh, I I C and E. Did I do that correctly? Yep. Okay. Uh, like a motion to vote to go into non-public. All in favor? I. I. Okay, we are back into uh, public meeting. It is 5:57 p.m. And I would like to make a motion

051to vote to agree to uphold policy JEB. So moved. All in favor? I. I. Um, and I would also like to vote to uh, make a motion to vote to agree with the recommendation from the superintendent regarding the legal matter. So moved. All in favor? Oh, second. Second. All in favor? I. I. And that concludes our meeting at 5:58 p.m.
