Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Great feet there by mano [music] to try to make Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Welcome to Exit High School. In tonight's basketball game, the first round of the boys division 1 playoffs. Tonight, the eighth seated exit Bluehawks take on the ninth seated Gofftown Grizzlies. And uh I'm Bill Taylor. I'm Tim Hollister. >> And Tim, how about some keys to an
exit to victory? >> Yeah. So, you know, today it's going to be get the ball inside to utilize exercise advantage. They're a way bigger team than Gtown. Got to get the ball inside and take advantage of that. Capitalize off opportunities. That's hit your free throws when you're fouled. We saw a little bit struggling with that. And that's what made Manchester Central's game so close. capitalize off turnovers, extra poss extra possessions, stuff like that. And then finally, it's gonna just be, you know, stay composed and have the mindset that, you know, especially the seniors, it's not just win or go home, it's win or never play this game again. >> And starters for Gtown, number two, Giovani Santos. Number four, Cole Osborne. Number 13, Liam O'Brien. >> Number 20, Tyler Dion. >> And number 24, Braden
Mali. For the exit Blue Hawks. Number two, Tyler Re. Number four, Ae Griffith. Number 11, Jackson McDonald. Number 23, Jack Tibido. and number 34, Huxley Brown. >> You can just feel the atmosphere. It feels like a playoff game. The student section is packed for exit. The parent section, we're sitting right in the exit parent section and it is just filled right now. >> The the opposing side, not so much. >> Yeah, not so much. >> You know what's I interesting? Gartown starts five guards. Wow. >> They're two big guys come off the bench. >> Here is the national anthem. >> Class of 2027. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Wow, >> fantastic job done by Cello. Great one. Hey, uh, tell our listeners how the last time these two teams met what about two weeks ago
and tell them about the final final couple of minutes of the game. >> Man, that game was about as close as you could get it, 50- 48 with an extra victory at Goff Town. And I mean, it's a clip seen across the world, you know, as as I like to say, Tyler Reine from the back strip, touchdown pass all the way to Nate Tamasi with 1.5 seconds left of overtime. But that doesn't just tell you the whole story. It was a close game through and through. Tyler Ree hit a game-tying three with just eight seconds left and exit only allowed nine points in fourth quarter and overtime. >> Okay, here we go. Tivido jumping against O'Brien. The Blue Hawks get the ball. Lee Griffith with the ball. McDonald to Gtowns come out in a zone.
two three zone. >> The Blue Hawks should be able to exploit this high low. There's Huxley Brown. Yep. Foul. Foul. [applause and cheering] >> Number 13, Liam O'Brien. >> Foul is on Liam O'Brien. the line. >> Huxley Brown does such a great job of driving inside and forcing the foul. >> He makes the first, which is a good sign. [applause] >> Yeah, coach, we we even saw in the game we did two days ago, Portsmith versus Xer for the girls team, free throws can kill you. Free throws, missing those free throws can really hurt you in the long run. Huxley Brown for two on the first possession. The Blue Hawks come out in a 3-2 zone. [cheering] Now, coach, much like the girls team, this extra defense is fantastic. Third in division one in points
per game allowed with only 52 per game. They've also held teams like Bedford and Portsouth to their lowest or second lowest scorings of the season. >> Nice back door cut, but they lost the ball out of bounds. >> You can start to see some of those jitters in the playoff game for Gobstown. What you were talking about last game Nice pass. >> Oh, nice pass. Oh, >> Huxley Brown had the the shot blocked. Number two for Gosstown. That's Santos in the middle of the zone. Inside out. Oh, for three for three. >> That's M. That's Maui. He's third on their team for points per game, averaging 10. >> Well, they did a nice job going inside out. >> Yep. There's Huxley Brown. >> Oh, Huxley. Huxley Brown. You know, >> offense by accident sometimes. >>
I was just about to say a ghee dropping that ball actually opened up Huxley Brown. [cheering] [applause] >> Great defense here from Exader. [cheering] >> Slowing the pace of this game right down. >> Yeah. And you know what? That's what exer tries to get you to amp up and make a mistake. So gotown not doing a bad job here of limiting that. >> Liam O'Brien getting the ball in the middle of the zone. Oh, great job from Gofftown there. >> Grie Griffith with a turnover. Gotown gets it down the floor. >> Oh, >> three balls. >> Wow. Tyler Gallion, number 20. >> And he leads the team 12.6 points per game, 26th in division one. And coach, they haven't missed a field goal yet. >> No, they haven't. [cheering] >> Oh, Hley Brown inside >>
doing it all himself right now for Exit. >> Goths down eight. Huxley Brown six. [cheering] [applause] [cheering] >> Oh [screaming] man. Three number 24. That's Braden Mi. >> You know what for exit? I'd like to see a little bit more aggressive closeouts on these three-pointers, especially with the long lens of Jack Tibid, though. [cheering] The miss by McDonald. >> Oh, nice move. [screaming] Good block by Tibido. Nice steal by McDonald. Foul is on Osborne. [applause] >> Foul is on the prison number four. His first team save. >> Nate Tamasi is checking in the game. Coach, he's averaging 12.8 over their last four with 20 points against Nashville South. The Blue Hawks go big. Bring Mr. energy Nate Tamasi into the game. [cheering] [applause] >> Yeah, you know, coach, I talked to Coach Holmes after the
game last time, uh, last Manchester Central game, and he just spoke very highly on what Nate Tamasi means to this team and the energy he brings. He's just a great guy. Even if he comes off the bench or starts, it doesn't matter. That energy stays the same. >> [cheering] >> Nice shipo. [applause] >> You know, I think bringing Nate Tamasi in here with his wingspan adds a little bit more difficulty on these shots from Goff Towns. Just a little bit more wingspan to deal with. Oh, Tamasi with a steal. [cheering] >> Oh, >> should have it. >> Great defense from Huxley. >> Great defense by Huxley Brown. You got a hand in O'Brien's face. [cheering] >> Number three, that's Raymond Plant into the game. Nice job, Tyne getting open. Oh, >> took about every bounce
it possibly could on that rim. >> Good rebound. Nice call by the referee. >> And you know what? Go town starting to cool down a little bit. Foul is on number 20. >> You want four fouls here for Gtown. >> Number 30 in the game for the Grizzlies. That's Andrew Parnell. Another guard. He's a freshman. >> Wow. >> Freshman on varsity. >> Screen. >> Jackson McDonald. Thanks to Tamasi screen. And we've seen that a lot from McDonald this year, just making some acrobatic layups, whether it's under the basket with a guy draped all over him, and he does a great job. >> Nice passen. >> That was Braden Mi with the basket with off a nice pass from O'Brien. [cheering] >> Three ball by Tyler. Wow, what a tough shot to make there. >> That's
a bump on Raymond Plant. What a tough shot to make. He had a guy in his face with a step back. Man, what a shot. >> Okay, Age Griffith back in the game for McDonald. >> Oo, that's a scary play. >> [cheering] >> Tyler Ree comes up with the rebound. >> That's a scary I just want to say that play where Nate Tamasi jumped up. He did great job of controlling himself as they call foul there on Huxley. >> Yep. He did a great job controlling himself and not over reaching cuz that's where you see players kind of land on the back and flip over. It can be a scary play sometimes. >> Exert now in the man. Nice drive. >> That was Santos. >> Man, hitting that shot over Tomasi is not easy. [cheering]
That's the end of the first quarter. Exiter with a 1513 lead. This has been an very exciting back and forth game. >> Yeah. Yeah. Very excited. Uh 1513 exit. >> Yeah. >> I thought I had that as 1513 Gofftown. I thought they just made >> Yeah, that >> there you go. >> I was going to say I I thought maybe Santos made that layup. I >> now it's 1313. >> No, now it's 1513 Gtown. >> But >> okay, now we have it right. Well, you know, they should have just asked you. >> They I >> You had it right. Oh, hold on. Lucky for me, I have an iPad in front of you where I can I just click one button and it gets the score for me. So, but coach, as I was speaking
so highly on this exter defense, you know, we're seeing it kind of today. They're they're doing great job of of pressuring Gtown. Now, Gofftown is doing something that we don't see a lot of teams do. doing a great job of finding the open spots in the zone and hitting the three even though there's a 6 ft plus defender closing out on them and that's extremely tough. Th this is a defense that you know is not easy to score on just from their length. Goffound doing a great job of hitting their shots right now. Blue Hawks come out in man. [cheering] >> Nice back door cut. Foul is on Griffith. You know they do. What I like what Gtown's doing is they're not stationary. >> Yeah. that if someone goes out on the on the corner
shooter, he'll look to go back door. So, you just turn your head for a second and he's there. >> Yeah. And you know what, coach, that doesn't just affect the offense with making it easier to find someone. It tires out the defense cuz you don't get to take a break. You're constantly moving. >> Right. Well, Mi missed both free free throws for Gooff. >> Oh, inside out. >> Oh, rebound. Tibido. [applause] >> And that's what you got to do. You got to capitalize off those second chance opportunities if you don't make that first shot. Oh, three ball. Tyler Dion. >> They come back out in a zone. >> Coach Goff is shooting 57% from three right now. Four for seven. >> From three. >> Tyler. Ty trying to find his rhythm right now. >> Good
help defense from Exit here. [cheering] >> Whoever they left their feet. Hawks number 21. That's his first team. >> Fouls on Tamasi. >> That was good help defense though. You know, Gus Town got kind of right by Exxer on that play, but Exer kind of collapsed on the on the player that was driving and didn't let him get an easy layup. >> Oh. Wow. Liam O'Brien. >> Man, Golftown's just shooting extremely effectively today. >> Gofftown back in that zone, hacking it in, daring the Blue Hawks to beat him from the perimeter or to force some shots up. >> Oh, nice. >> McDonald with a nice steel. Oh. Euro staff green. >> No good. [cheering] >> That would have been an amazing highlight right there. >> Man, the Blue Hawks come out and man. Nice job
playing that screen. Oo, air ball there. [cheering] Exer's got to find a way to make Goffstown come out of the zone. >> There you go. Well, if you get the ball low on the zone, that creates a lot of problems. >> Yeah, >> especially with extra size with guys like Huxley, Tibs, and Tamasi. Okay, I see >> Ben Smith, I believe. >> Yeah, Ben Smith in the ball game. >> Trying to add some three-point shooting, I think. >> Dangerous passer. Ah, [cheering] >> that's going to be Tamasi's second. >> Yeah. That was a little bit of a dangerous pass there. Pass into three defenders. >> Fouls on the Wox number 21 second team third. >> 20-7. 5 minutes to go in the first half. The Gufftown Grizzlies doing a very nice job >> offensively. Oh.
>> Oh. In and out. >> In and out. >> That step back by Santos was dirty. Oh, the hustle from Goff Town. Anytime Xer thinks they have an open shot, they shut down real quick. Oh, [applause] >> that's a huge two-point shot to hit. He's three for three to start the game. Good defense. [cheering] Wow. 3sec call. You don't see that often. >> What is uh is there three 3se second in the paint for high school? >> Yeah. And for pros, too, but they don't call it too often. Yeah. And I know in college they I don't believe they have a 3second. Oh, no. That's the European league. >> Yeah. >> Oh, good rebound by Huxley. [applause] >> He's fouled. >> Another great job getting to the line there. >> Meyers is in the game
for the Blue Hawks as Tamasi has two fouls. First team Hley Ro. >> Nice. [applause] >> Free throws are huge. Anytime you get a free trip to the line, no defender in your face, it's key to make those shots. >> Tie scoreer right now, 20 to 20 >> and he makes a second. 2120. Huxley Brown is perfect from the line so far tonight. [cheering] >> Blue Hawks in their man. >> Great defense from Ben Smith right there. >> McDonald. >> Oh, good block. [cheering] What a block from number 23 there. That's Del De Delahanti. [cheering] >> Oh, Hudson bound. [cheering] >> Good steal. >> And that's going to be a timeout from Gtown. You hear the exit their environment right now. They are on their feet. Six-point run from Exit right there. >> 2320 Blue
Hawks right now. 3 minutes 14 seconds to go in the first half. And you know what? When I spoke to Huxley Brown earlier today and he told me the mindset is not just win or go home, it's win or last game ever. He is putting every single ounce of effort in right now. him and this extra team are not going to go away without swinging and he himself already at 10 points in the first half. Man, this this kid will le will do his absolute best for his brothers in white and let's see how they fare in this game. Blue Hawks come back out in the man. I'll say this. Golftown's very well coached. You deny them the ball and they go back door right away. >> Wow. Just as you say, coach Dion, >>
he's at eight right now. >> Okay. Goff time comes out in a 131. 131 zone. >> Not a trapping zone, just a 131. Inside out by Tibido to McDonald. Oh, Huxley with the rebound. >> Who else? Who else but Huxley right now? [cheering] [applause] >> Great defense here from Ben Smith. Great hands. Good, >> good deflection. Good help on uh when they cut to the lane. And you know what, coach, they almost made Gothstown make a mistake there. Almost passing it outbounds. It tipped off of Huxley Brown's fingers. But that's what Xer's got to do. You got to make Gothstown get away from their game. >> Oh man. Three ball Braden Mali three for three right now from three for him. >> 131 again. >> Nice pass. >> Good block out by Gofftown number 24.
Good block out. That was Mi >> especially over Huxley Brown who you know he's a stronger kid. He's a tough kid to to box out. Tough layup. [cheering] >> [applause and cheering] >> Exer's got to be patient on the offensive side of the ball. >> Nice rebound there. >> Good hustle rebound by Meyers. >> Oh, what a block. >> Smith has it blocked. Oh man, Mali. >> Braden Mali. Another three ball. >> He is red hot right now. Four for four from the three. >> [cheering] >> Oh, [screaming] Jackson McDonald. >> He answers right back. [cheering] >> Nice poke out, Ben Smith. >> Oh, I thought that maybe hit off of Osborne's foot. Man, coach, I don't think we've seen a game quite this competitive all season. >> I think you're right. This is basket
for basket. Good play for good. Oh, >> great cut. Oh, he kicked. >> He missed it, >> man. That's a That's about as best of a cut as you could have had. >> Good steal. [cheering] Foul was on Tibido. Santos with the steel. >> That's Tib's first. >> His first. >> Santos turned on the jets there. >> [cheering] [screaming] >> Oh, he missed the first time out. >> Timeout exit here. >> You know, coach, this is a extremely tough environment for Gofftown to hit a free throw in. I mean, we talked in the beginning about how packed the student section was. It's even more packed now. It's all the way up to the top part of the bleacher. Goff is telling you know they are in a hostile environment right now and that is I
think that kind of kicked in right there with Santos missing that free throw. We had people screaming right as he went to shoot. The biggest key to free throws is staying focused and composed really thinking through your shot and just focusing on the basket. Exer student section doing a great job here of trying to disrupt that. Interesting timeout there by coach Holmes with 6 seconds to go in the game and the shooter had missed his first. >> I wonder if he's maybe trying to draw up a play for this buzzer beater. [cheering] Santos makes the second. McDonald with the ball. Three ball. Oh, he got fouled. Wow, [cheering] three shots. [applause] That's a big mistake from Osborne. His second of the game. That's a big mistake. He's going to get three opportunities at the line
here. And Jackson McDonald, one of the better free throw shooters on exit there. >> Who was the foul on? Did you see? >> Uh, number four, Osborne. [cheering] >> Oh, you know, >> I think I jinx him. I don't like he needs to exaggerate his follow through. That's better. [applause and cheering] >> You know what I mean? The first shot he was stepping back. >> Exaggerate your follow through. >> What a great eye, coach. >> That's huge. And you know what, coach? He exaggerated his follow through on both of those that he made. >> And that's huge for Exit. I mean, you go into half up 3029 while Gothtown is shooting 56% from two-pointers and 50% from three. That is just incredible. They're 6 for12 and 5 for9. 6 for12 from three. It's tough to
keep that going. It's tough. And if exit, you know, that foul right there getting a little out of rhythm because of that, man, that is extremely great for Exit be up one considering the circumstances. And you know what? We're seeing a little bit of what we saw in the first matchup. Denine, Maui, and Santos really doing the carrying for Gothtown. In that first matchup, they combined for 40 of Gothtown's 48 points where exit had five players scoring eight plus points. And it's just when you can get more from other guys and not so reliant, you know, you can give those guys a break, you know, piece by piece, whereas Goff's talent can be really reliant. >> How about some stats for us? Uh, >> yeah. So, you know, Maui, he's got 14. He is the
game's leading scorer. Huxley Brown 12. Tibido six. We got number 20. Denine's got eight. And then Jackson McDonald with seven. >> Okay. Anyone in foul trouble? >> Uh right now, you know, you got Osborne, he's got two. And Nate Tamasi, he's at he's got two. Other than that, just couple players with one. >> Okay. 30-29 at the half. I'll tell you, if your friends are not watching this game, get on the phone and call them. Tell them to tune in because they're missing a heck of a basketball game. >> This might be the best game we've seen all year. >> Oh, yeah. All year. And we've called some tight ones like Manchester, but typically it's going even Memorial maybe it's first half dominated by one team, second half dominated by the other, but this one's
truly just bucket forbucket. And obviously they're both the eight seed and the nine seed for a reason. They're >> most even matchup you'll see. >> Yeah. >> Okay, we're going to take a break here. We'll be back at the second half. Okay, we're back and we're getting ready for second half action. Right now, the score is the exit to Blue Hawks 30 and the Golftown Grizzlies 29. Tim, what do you think? >> I think this has been about the the craziest game I've called in my time calling games. I've been doing it for two years now. Um, shout out Mr. Provos for last year. But, you know, this has been the greatest game I think we've caught. It's been the closest, the most competitive. And man, I just I can't speak highly enough about these
two teams. One thing I will say, Extor, I kind of mentioned it uh I've mentioned it in previous games, they are a second half team. They do a great job, especially in the fourth quarter, of anchoring down. And in their last four games, they were three- one with two of those wins coming in OT OT as Goff Town knows. Um, and man, they just all three of their wins were close games. So, if you're GST town, you want to start trying to build a lead. But Manchester Central was up 11 on Nex. Nexer came back and won that game. I'm liking Xer's chances right now. I think they're playing Xer basketball. However, it's going to be tough when Gofftown's shooting at the at the clip that they're shooting. >> Right. The the key is can
Gofftown continue to shoot the three ball at 50%. >> Yeah. >> If they can, good luck. >> Yeah. And you know, you and me were talking about at half. It's just it's it's great. It's great for if you're exit, you're feeling great about the fact you're up one right now. Even though you'd like to be up more, gotown played on offensively a perfect first half. And both these teams didn't really I didn't really see many mistakes on the defensive side of the ball. For me, these teams, it's just Gtown played amazing on offense, but every time Exer needed to respond, they responded. You know, I'll say this. Two very well coached teams. >> Yeah. >> Jeff Holmes does a great job. And I don't know who the coach of Golftown is. It doesn't list a
name, but he does a good job. Also, here we go to start the second half. Jackson McDonald, Tyler Ree, McGee Griffith. >> Oh, Tibido. Jack Tivido. >> A little bit of a line drive there. Blue Hawks come out. Man, >> deep three. That's a heat check. [cheering] >> That is his first miss of the game for Maui. That was a heat check right there, coach. >> Travel. >> Yes, he did. He dragged his foot. >> Oh, >> he didn't come to a jump stop. >> That's a good catch, coach. I I had my eyes on the on the open terrain for three again. Blue Hawks in a man. [applause and cheering] Santos going to the rack. >> Oh, >> no good. Tibido with the rebound. Blue Hawks have a break. >> No good. McDonald too
strong. You know, right now if you're extra, you got to capitalize off every miss shot Gooffstown gives you. There's not many tonight. >> Nice poke out by Huxley. >> Huxley Brown with the foul. >> Wow. >> Is that his third? >> That's his That's his second. >> Second. >> But coach, I'm not going to lie, I'm a little shocked at the call there. I thought he had a pretty >> good defense. I don't know if you saw anything, but he had his arms straight up and I thought he played that pretty cleanly. Oh man. [cheering] And you know what, coach, it is the free throws for Gtown right now. That is the only place where they are not shooting amazingly. >> Dion with the second one. >> They're two for six right now from the
line. >> Yeah, you're not going That's hard to win a game when you do that. >> [cheering] >> patience, patience. Good shot. I like a ghee in the game right now. He's so fast that he just can create opportunities for exterly. You got to keep those feet still. See, that one I think he felt was a little frustrating for them to call. We saw a couple of ones that were close in the girls game. Seems like they're really honing in on that this postseason. [cheering] Nice defense there from McDonald not to get stuck behind the screen. >> Uh-oh. >> In and out by Dion. Tell you, Tibidos doing an outstanding job on the defensive boards. Yeah, he he's doing a great job getting these rebounds for >> Exiter at the line. >> Five for eight.
He joins Hustley in double digits. >> Man, that's what you got to do right there. If Gooff If Gotown misses, you got to make it. Huxley, great job. [cheering] Nice pass. Ah. >> Oh, >> who' they call that on? >> They called it on the line. >> Wow. >> On Tibido. >> That's his second. Man, that's that's a tough call right there. Just a scrum. I would like to see them let that play just cuz it was it was a physical rebound. >> 3430 is the score. We've started the second half. Dion in the paint. >> Oh, Huxley block Huxley. >> Man, Huxley Brown [applause] >> as he'll come out with two fouls right now. Smart by coach Holmes. >> Tomasi >> in the [cheering] game. >> And that's why Exer's scoring disparity is so
huge for for them. They can take Huxley out, put Tamasi in. They're not relying on one or two guys to score the the points and keep them in this game. Oh wow. [applause] Nice [cheering] job by Age Griffith getting uh the call. McDonald pass to Tibido. >> 12 points for Tibs. The seniors are coming to play right now. Oh, what a pass. Never mind. It's going to be a turnover. [cheering] Rare mistake from Gofftown right there. How did Griffith get high? Get that high. >> Oh, [laughter] >> nice steal by Tamasi on the hustle back. McDonald is fouled. >> You know what, coach? It's a little bit of a sloppier second half here. >> Well, what's happened is >> it's more transition. Yeah, >> the game has become more of a transition game as opposed
to the slow >> both teams making their shots and, you know, offenses being able to do their thing. >> This has become more up and down, up and down, bad passes, transition. >> Yeah. Yeah. And you know what, coach? One of I think this will go down if Exit can come out with a win today. That play by Nate Tamasi right there will go down as the reason why just the heart of this team. Plays like that. Nate Tamasi is on the ground after a tough after a tough rebound, a tough shot. He stands up, bolts it to the other end. Gooffstown doesn't think he's going to hustle over. Tries to pass it. He comes up with a steal and creates an opportunity for exit here. Just a great great job. And that shows you
how great of a coach Coach Holmes is. >> Never give up. >> Yeah. Let's see if McDonald when he goes to the line exaggerates his follow through. If he does, those foul shots are going in. If he steps back, chances are they're not. >> And coach, I don't know if you saw when a Ge made that jump, he I did. >> We could see almost his his hips over the student section. We're not exactly that close. That was crazy. I thought that was going to be an errant pass. Johnson at the line. He's shooting two. >> There you go. Exaggerate the follow through. The ball goes in the hoop. And you know what, coach? One of the struggles for Goffstown right now with the height disadvantage is, you know, Exer has a great chance of
rebounding even if it is a miss, which it won't be. >> 3830 the Blue Hawk with a lead. Oh, Griffith. Not a good foul. >> Uh, I would, you know, coach, I kind of think Santos initiated that contact. He kind of ran into Griffith there. I don't like that call by the refs. I don't really think there was much Griffith could have done. He tried to get out of the way. Santos kind of forced it. Puts you in a tough spot as a defender. Nice defense. Oh, Santos. Nice shot, >> man. That's You know, that's their first basket of the of the third quarter coming almost 5 minutes in or a little over four minutes in. You know what? Great great focus and and discipline from a ghee there. That was the word I was
looking for. Discipline for not shooting that three. He was open, but he found the better shot for Tibido. Obviously, it got stripped, but they retain possession. Number four, Cole Osbborne back in the game for Dion. >> Yeah, high score. >> Yeah. What is how is Xer going to be able to capitalize without those two or without with just one top scorer on the team for Gtown and Maui? Let's see if they can maybe get something going offensively and make Gtown turn it over [music] on defense side of the ball. >> Griffith. Oh, >> Tomasi. >> Oh, that was a bad shot. Three opportunities and can't get to go. That's a tough break for exit. I would like to see maybe Tamasi pass that ball as he was falling backwards. I think he thought maybe he's
going to get a foul. >> That was Liam O'Brien. >> And right now if you're actually you can't let Guffstown get any open shots. Just cannot. Got to make sure everyone is covered. >> Wow. Tamasi >> with a jam. [applause] >> And you know what? Go Town gets an assist there. They poked it out of Tyream's hands right to Tamasi. >> Arnell. >> Oh, yikes. >> Ah, the three ball isn't falling all of a sudden. >> And you know what? He hasn't made a shot in this second half. Oh, Jackson McDonald. >> McDonald with the follow. >> Oh, open guy every time. >> Parnell. >> Andrew Parnell, the freshman for a three ball. >> Cannot let a Gothtown player get lost. They will make every single open shot. >> Wow. McGee Griffith fouled by Braden
Mali. >> I see Dion coming back into the game. O'Brien Santos. 1 minute and 29 seconds to go. >> Oh, Tamasi, his size is just so important for those inbound passes. Huxley Brown back in the game for Timido. Ben Smith. >> Oh, no push in the back there. Saw a little arm extension >> travel. >> Yep. [applause and cheering] >> And you know what, coach? We talked about it at half. You know, it's kind of like an adrenaline dump that halftime. Sometimes when you're like Gtown, you're in such a rhythm. Sometimes you even said you don't want there to be a halftime in some games. >> And I think this one of those games. Nice turnover force there, though. >> Great close out from Tamasi there. Ah, poked out. Good hustle. jump ball there, coach.
>> Yeah, and it's Bluff Town's possession. Possession roll. See, Meyers is in the game for McDonald. They're going the length here. >> Nice steel. [cheering] >> Kick ball. Kick ball. >> Oh, >> he stuck his foot out. >> I thought he called a foul there, coach. >> No, kick ball. Ben Smith, I'll tell you this, he has been very great with his hands and his defense today. >> Yeah, he he's done a good job defensively. [cheering] >> More great defense from Ben Smith. That's another miss there >> for Myers with the rebound. Oh >> and that's the end of the third quarter. The exit to Bluehawks 42, Gtown 37. >> Well, you know what, coach? That is the first quarter that has not been decided by one possession. Exit outscored Gothtown 12-8. Okay. And a
lot of that was in the first part of the third quarter. But man, I'll tell you this. We've talked about I've talked about almost at Nauseium that exit gets better as the game goes on. I talked to coach Holmes about it after last game. They anchor down in the on defense in the fourth quarter. And you know, if you're exit, you're feeling comfortable right now. Obviously, there's some things you can do better. I thought at the beginning of that second quarter, they played a little bit sloppy with some passes that went Aaron, but they've done a great job of dealing with the pressure and the efficiency from Gofftown. I mean, there's some possessions where they play such great defense and it's just Gtown makes a bucket. You know, it's tough. But Xer has done a
great job staying disciplined. Now, it's time to stay composed. Huxley's going over his footwork right now. He's trying to figure out. >> And you know what? That's smart. You don't want a late game travel. Get some clarification from the ref on what he's calling and what he's seeing so you can make sure it doesn't happen. >> Global comes out in a zone trap. Blue Hawks just pass it over them. >> That's what Oh. [cheering] >> Oh, [screaming] Tamasi. [laughter] >> Tamasi. Nice block. Oh my goodness. And that is just where you suck the life out of a team. They think they have a fast break momentum play and you come running down at your 6'7 height and block what they thought was an easy layup. They're going to call it foul on Huxley. Wow. >>
Jon Huxley. >> Yeah. >> Number 34. >> That's his third. >> That's an interesting call there. I'll say I I thought maybe it was just a jump and that they were both kind of getting physical for the jump ball. I can see Hudley reaching for his face. Think he might have gotten poked in the eye. You know what Xer is doing a lot better that in this half than they did in the first is they are fighting through the or not fighting through but they're getting around the screens a lot better and they're not allowing Gossan to get the open shots. They're switching better. They're communicating better so they know where the screen's coming from. Tamasi Huxley McDonald. Nice pass. >> Yeah. Be patient. Be patient. >> Yep. No need to rush anything here. >>
You want a good shot. >> No. Wow. He sold that. >> [cheering] >> man. Get him an Oscar. >> I was on McDonald. I'm about as astonished as Jackson McDonald right there. I I don't agree with that call at all. If you're Jackson McDonald now, you got to calm down. Keep your composure here. But man, that is a tough break. >> Liam O'Brien for three. And that's a big call from the refs there. >> That's a big call from the refs there. That is a a fivepoint swing, if you want to call it that. Jackson McDonald was driving for a layup and had a pretty open lane and now they hit a three-pointer on the other side. It's a pretty big swing there. Find Jackson here. He's open >> or Ty for three. Tyler Ree
in the fourth quarter, man. Something about it. >> Oh, that would have been an extremely tough layup to make. Tivido with a nice tap on that rebound. Tell you, he's playing a great game. Oh. Oh, McDonald [cheering] Tamasi Extor just playing out of body right now. The hustle overall just playing great. And as I say that, great three-pointer from Gobstown, but they give up an open [cheering] >> that right there. That's why you can't give up an open shot if you're exit. I don't think Gofftown has missed one tonight. [cheering] Oh. [cheering] I like the patience from Axer. >> 4743 halfway through the final quarter. Four minutes to go in the basketball game. The Blue Hawks with a four-point lead. Good screen by Tamasi. >> McDonald with the layup. >> He's got 13. And that
layup was beautiful. Travel Harry. [cheering] [applause] You must You're going for your referee's patch. I I thought he took an extra step. The ref called Carrie. I could see either. But man, that was great defense from Exit there. They kind of pulled the chair from Santos a little bit. >> 4943. >> Nice pass. >> Yeah. Wow. >> Yeah. you know, he's kind of given a little bit of a reaction that he doesn't agree with the call, but you know, he hit his hand pretty clearly, I think. You know, but a lot of that just you're you're in the moment. You don't think you did anything wrong. You're just trying to play. It's a tough call to make if you're a ref. That's a great call by the ref right there. >> Oh, McDonald is fouled.
Foul is on Dion. >> Great job by Jackson McDonald to draw that foul. Huxley is getting ready to check back in. >> Coach, you making that pointer of follow of emphasize the follow through. I I think Jackson must have heard you. Huxley Brown in the game for Reggie. I like that a lot from coach Holmes there. [screaming] McDonald makes them both. He's six for six since missing that first one. And I like Huxley getting a a good amount of rest time for this last three minutes. He's been key to this exit game. 3-2 zone. Nice passion. great ball movement from from Gosstown right there. Just kind of got exit stuck. Left the guy open again. They still haven't missed an open shot. If you're exit, you got to I I would say, you know, be
a little bit more patient on the double teams. They, you know, they're I I get there in zone, but they're rushing. They're they're rushing the ball and they're not quite quick as quick as Gofftown is to close out and limit that defense time to dip and shoot. So, you know, that's why I think it's hurting them a little bit. >> I kind of like them in the man. Yeah, >> they do have done a good job in the man. They identify. They do a great job on help >> right now. The zone, I can understand why we went to the zone. Yeah, it's where we're most successful this season. >> But we don't want to give them the uncontested jump shot. >> Yeah. >> Especially when it's a three ball. >> Yeah. And you know,
coach, we've talked about how successful the zone's been for Exiter. When when you're a team and that's where you are the most successful, it's tough to get away from it, especially when it's late in game cuz it's won them a lot of close games. But I completely agree with you. You said the perfect point is they just do a they're doing a better job tonight of limiting the open shot. >> Okay, Darth down in a 221 zone pressure. >> That's it. They got the ball in the middle which is where they want to go. >> Nice pass to >> from McDonald. Beautiful pass from McDonald there. They understand such a threat on the drive that they overcommitted and left Tamasi open. And he had the vision to make that pass. [cheering] Exer. >> Wow. >>
I was just about to say Exer did a great job on the switching not allowing an open shot. >> That's Tamasi's third. >> Santos at the line and he's shooting. Santos makes the first and you know I think there's a little bit of you know nerves when you start to enter this stage of the game even more than in the first part. So let's see how these teams can do their job. Stay composed. These free throws are huge. >> Santos makes them both. 221 pressure. Oh, off the rim. >> Good time out. >> I would have liked some more help for Jackson McDonald. [cheering] >> Right. What they did the last time is the Blue Hawks got the ball to the middle. Once they got it to the middle, they were able to break the
pressure. That's what they've got to do. Yeah, they kind of limited his area of breaking the pressure. >> You don't want Again, think of what we said. The idea behind the press is to get >> trap the ball in the trapping zones. Where's the trapping zone? In the corner. McDonald can't receive the ball in the corner and just stand there and and expect to pass over it. >> Yeah. And you know, >> can't do it. What I was also seeing was I would like to see, you know, I felt he almost only had Tyne to pass through. Everyone else was a little too far, especially when he's getting doubled and trapped. I would like to see Exer maybe just kind of just have everyone, maybe one guy in in the back half of the court,
but just focus on getting it past the front line, the half court line, so you can just not get that 8sec or givetown a quick bucket. See, now they're in they've got four up. >> Golftown is still Now I think they've gone man pressure. >> Yeah, >> man. Nice pass. No foul. Huxley Brown the rebound and a foul on Santos. Oh, he's saying he was on the floor. >> Really? That's his fourth. >> Only number 30. >> Oh, number 30. >> Wow. I thought that foul was on Santos. >> I thought it was. I don't know who they called it on. >> They called it on number 30, Parnell. I didn't even see him in the area. Oh, he's [cheering] foul. That's right. >> Yeah, you can't reach in like that. >> He's picked up
backto back fouls here. Exer's one foul away from the bonus as well. >> [cheering] >> Nice job by Huxley to get open for Tyler. Make off sound get aggressive here. >> Oh. Oh, great job by Hustley Brown. [applause] number 24 is first team at the line shooting two. >> Wow, that is >> now Now we're in the bonus. >> Yeah, that's huge. Yeah, nice job, Huxley, [applause] >> man. And these are about as high pressure as you can get, especially when you're up by only one possession. Coach, something happened at halftime during that Manchester Central game. They've been whites out from the free throw line since, >> man. >> Great defense here. Great defense by Tib >> Tibido. >> Nice job. >> Just [cheering] fantastic defensive possession. Fantastic rebounding. Tibido's playing a a great game
right now. Great timeout. >> Timeout. 1 minute and 12 seconds to go. The Blue Hawks with a five-point lead, 5550. >> You know what, coach? I'll tell you, I'm not even in the game and I'm feeling the pressure. I [laughter] mean, my heart is pumping right now. I can only imagine these kids on the court, but they got a lot better composure than me. That's why they're out there. But man, this is this has been one of the greatest games I think I've ever watched. Exit right now, coach. The difference, the free throws. 12 for 13, 92%. Gotown 4 for8 at 50%. They've made their last three, though. You know, the Blue Hawks have done, you know, and I go back to that central game where they couldn't buy a free throw. >> Exactly. >>
And they're doing a great job. >> I wonder if coach Holmes saw what you saw with them maybe not exagger I'm going to go back and watch that game. See if they weren't exaggerating that follow through and made and kind of made them work on it in practice. >> Okay, McDonald Nice pass. Oh no. Oh no. We got an injury. >> We got an injury in Santos. >> And that doesn't look good. >> Oh man, you got to that's got to hurt for the kid. Oh, >> that's a shame. He's played a heck of a game. >> I worry that that ankle doesn't exactly look right. Looks like he can't really put pressure on it. >> Man, he has nine points. Three for five from two. And most importantly, three for four from the line
for Gofftown. Oh, they gave up an open shot. Liam O'Brien for three. And that's just killer, >> coach. They gave up the open three. That simple. >> 55 53. 47 seconds to go. >> Man, it's like the second you see golf town with a little bit of space >> shoot the ball, >> you know it's going in. everything culminating on Sunday, March 15th, 4:00. >> And you know what? If you're Portsmith, the way both these teams are playing, I think, you know, you're in for a tougher fight than your last matchup. You know, Goff Town is shooting lights out. Exit is playing the best offense we've seen all season. And they're both teams are continuing their defensive dominations where they don't make a lot of mistakes. Right now, exit is making the biggest mistake and
that's leaving a guy open. Cannot let them have an easy shot. Nice pass with his speed. Nice. Oh [screaming] no, that's a jump. Back off times ball, >> man. Nice hustle there though by Tarim to poke that ball loose and stop the momentum play. >> 5553 Guffstown with the ball. 32 seconds to go. >> Great defense there from Huxley. Didn't give up [cheering] the open shot. >> Don't follow him. >> Nope. >> [cheering and applause] >> Can't give them anything easy right now. >> Oh, great switch. >> Another injury. Oh, no. >> Visual style. >> Oh man. >> I wonder if it's maybe crack. >> That's That's a knee. Oh no, that's even worse. Oh man, my initial worry is is cramps just because the same guys for Gothtown kind of play all game, but
he's holding that kneecap. >> All right, let's go back now. We have five.3 seconds. >> If I'm exit, I'm defending the three with my life. That is where Gtown has been so efficient today, shooting still 52%. They've dipped down to 42% from two. I would just really not want to give them a three-pointer cuz you know what? You give up a a a two, you got an extra quarter to play, but you give up a three, you go home. Do not I I would just completely stuff the three-point line. Do not let any of their shooters Mi cannot get open. Denine can't get open. Got to shut him down. >> I would say I agree with you, but what you do is you don't give them an open shot, but you don't foul >> the
perimeter shot. >> And you know what, coach, we've seen them play great defense in these last shot kind of situations twice. Manchester Central and Manchester Memorial. They need they couldn't give up a three and they absolutely shut down Gomez and the three-point shooters and kind of sent Memorial into a frantic shot where they ain't got a good shot off. I have all my trust in Coach Holmes right now. >> I have all my faith in Coach Holmes and his defense. They're so composed. They do such a great job in these late game situations. Huxley told me they practice it all the time in practice. It's their ma It's one of their main focuses and that's why they've been so good this season. >> Well, I will be interested to see what Goff comes up with.
I'll be interested to see if Holmes maybe puts, you know, Meyers out there just for his height. If I could guess the lineup, I would say Tibs, Tamasi Brown. Then you put in a ghee and Rehe is a great defender and Re is a little bit taller than Jackson McDonald with a little bit. Oh, they're not going to put in a ghee here. I just I like A cuz he's so athletic and he can that vertical can stuff any shot. So, let's see what they do here. [cheering] >> Oh, it's >> Oh, no. Oh, it was off down. >> They called a foul on Tibs. >> Number 23, Jack. >> Okay, we've got 3.6 seconds to go. >> Whole gym standing up, coach, including us. >> [cheering] >> Even Cory standing up. [laughter] [cheering] >>
Oh man, this environment. [cheering] Oh, wins it. >> Jump shot from the perimeter. The Blue Rock Hawks win. >> Oh, man. [screaming] And now Braden Mallow >> missed the three and the Blue Hawks get the W. >> Coach, coach, I think I need some heart medication or something. I saw that ball bounce and my heart dropped. I thought maybe they get a bounce in. Man, give it up for for Gothtown. I'll give Exit obviously their respect afterwards as I am an Exert fan, but I want to give the props to Gothstown. You know, you a heartbreaking loss. Maui was shooting so fantastically in that first half. He was four for four from three and he's the guy who you probably want taking that shot. 14 points. They get as open as they could and he
just could not hit it. And you know what? Exer played great closeout defense. >> They did. >> It's not on It's not on any of these Goffstown kids. It's just like we said about Portsouth and Xer girls game two days ago. Exer just ended up being the better team when it mattered. >> And you >> Okay, player of the game for Gtown. >> Oh, >> I know who I like. >> I you know I got to give it to >> I like Liam O'Brien. >> Liam O'Brien. I was just I was looking at my name sheet for who number 13 was. Liam O'Brien. In fact, he's their second leading scorer. He averages 12.2 2 points per game. Tonight he had 12. He gave it his all and he did a great job. He shot very
efficiently, coached quickly. He was two for three from three, three for nine from two. And a lot of those came in the second half when they started to cool off. >> And uh Okay, player of the game for the Blue Hawks. >> Oh man, I know who I like. I wouldn't I wouldn't be opposed to two, but I know who I like cuz I think he's played might have been the best game of his career. >> Yeah, you know, >> I think Jack Tibido was outstanding. >> I agree, coach. Jack Tibido was outstanding. I'd also like to give some props to Huxley Brown. He played fantastic in that in that first half. He didn't play as much in the second half due to fouls, but man, him and Tibido, that game for both of them
was the definition of not just win or go home. Win or it's over. They played with their heart on their sleeve. Jack Tibido, I've never seen that. That man was out there looking like prime Duncan Robinson on the boards. And you know, Huxley in the first half with his scoring kept exit in it in that early first quarter when it felt like Gofftown couldn't miss. >> So, our players of the game and uh you know, it's too bad that this was probably our last game of the year. >> Yeah. be now exit will be going to Portsmouth High School and they will be playing the Portsouth Clippers Saturday at 2:00. I heard Cherm say Saturday at 2. They go to the number one seed, Portsouth High School, and that's who they play. Well, I I
hope you got a chance to watch this game. If you didn't, you want to catch it when it's replayed because this was a great basketball game. Great win for the Blue Hawks. And uh a valiant effort for the Goth down Grizzlies. >> Yeah. Yeah. And you know, coach, just for [music] some final stats to wrap it up, Huxley Brown 14 points, four for five from the two-point line, six for six from the free throw line. Tibido with 12, and then Maui 14. and the O'Brien 12. >> How many did McDonald end up with? >> McDonald ended up with 15. Six for seven from the free throw line. Six for six after you pointed out emphasize the follow through and Exer finished [music] the game 12 for 13 from the free throw line. >> All right.
Well, we want to thank Eric and Cory. Bury has already left the building, but uh we want to thank Eric for allowing us to bring you exit Bluehawk basketball. Well, >> Coach Holmes is I don't think he's coming here. He might be going to uh the other crew, but uh great win for the Blue Hawks. >> Yeah, fantastic game. Okay, final score for the final time. The Exit Bluehawks 55, Golftown 53. Have a great evening. >> Good night. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music]
