001All right, good morning SU 16. This is superintendent of schools Chris Andriski. And here I am with a championship edition of 1616. I'm accompanied by coach Ley and members of the girls indoor track team that won literally running away from Pinkerton by by scoring a 72-point victory in the girls indoor track championship. They won sec. They got second in the long jump, third in the shot put, first and second in the 30,000 m in the 55 meter hurdles. Second 1,000 m, second, fifth, and sixth. Uh, in the 300 m, third, fourth, and fifth by the 4x400 relay, they came in second. In the 4x200 relay, they were first. And we set a couple of of records. Izzy Bernier set the new school record in the 600 meter. And we also had the fifth and sixth.
002And in the 1500 meter, we had first and third. And Lexi Paterna, a division one record, state record, and school record. What an amazing team. Coach, can you tell us a little bit why this team is so special? >> Well, I think you kind of nailed it. It was a total team effort. Um, whenever you score 126 points in a state meet, which actually no one's done before, that was the the highest mark in a state meet. That's a total team effort. Um, we placed in 11 of the 13 events. Um, and we we did win three events, but um, historically to score that many points, you have to win a lot more events, but we had a lot of seconds and thirds and fourths and fifths. And again, it was a total team effort,
003which is awesome. >> Excellent. Is there a couple girls that might want to share about their experience uh, this year on with the indoor track team? >> I give it to Mattie Potit and Alexis Paterna. >> Um, I think our team dynamic is super great. We all work so well together and at practice we're really lifting each other up. So I think that was how we won. I think coming together as a team and just being so close with each other and always giving each other confidence and just pushing each other has really worked. So I think that was how we won. >> Yeah. Kind of going off of that, we've been able to develop a really great team culture here and at practice we know when we can be silly and fun and also
004dial it in. So, um, kind of this of the past weekend, we just applied confidence and pressure to our, um, competitors and was able to execute and did this with and for each other. >> Well, thank you girls. We're so proud for that you are showing your Blue Hawk pride. And watch out state. Many of these girls are coming back as they are underassmen. So, we look forward to not only outdoor track, but indoor track next year. And we will see you all back in March. SAU16. Thank you very much and enjoy your February
