001Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. [music] Hey, Heat. Heat. >> [music] >> Hey, hey, hey, [music] hey, hey, [music] hey, Hey, [music] hey, hey. [music] Hey, hey. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Great there by [music] mano [music] trying to make it Heat. [music] [screaming] Heat. [music] >> [music] >> Welcome to Exit High School and tonight we have a boys basketball game for you as the Exit Blue Hawks bring their seven and seven record, 10th in Division 1 as they play and host the Manchester Memorial High School Crusaders with a record of 6 and 8, 12th in Division One. I'm Bill Taylor and I'm here with my partner >> Tim Hollister >> and we're looking forward to a great basketball game. We hope it's as exciting as the JB game was because that was

002>> Oh yeah, >> that went right down to the wire. >> 7270. >> Wow. >> And we also have Carson here. Okay. Tim, do you have some keys to an exit of victory? >> Yeah, so it's really going to be defra team, much like we talked about with the girls, they're a defensive game. They they play a great defensive game. Now, on the offensive side of the ball, we got to be confident. They got to, you know, confidence has been a big thing this year with them. When they're confident, they shoot fantastically. We saw it in the Spalding game and we're hopefully we see it tonight. And it's not that they're not a confident team every game. It's just sometimes, you know, you get in a bit of a shooting slump. You got to get

003that confidence back. So, you know, basketball is a game of valleys and mountains. When you get low, you can't get too low. When you get high, you can't get too high. You got to be able to bounce back and stay levelheaded. We'll see how they do tonight. I think that they're they're always a great team at, you know, doing and executing what coach Holmes wants them to do. They're they do great job on teamwork and also limit turnovers. >> Okay, the starting lineups are being introduced for the Blue Hawks. Number two, Tyler Reine. Number four, Age Griffith. Number 11, Jackson McDonald. Number 23, Jack Tibido. And number 34, Huxley Brown. And now, guest from Newfield Elementary singing Clara Red. Clara, take it away. Say by the [singing] light. What so proudly we held at the

004twilight last [singing] We watch stream and the rockets. The bombs bursting gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say [singing] that star spangled away. for the land of the free and the home of the [applause] >> fantast. >> Wow, she killed that. She did a three, >> man. New Fields Elementary School. Oh my goodness. >> Wow. And this is not This is a pretty big crowd for her. Wow. Oh my goodness. She killed that. What a great job. >> Okay, Memorial will start. Number one, Joel Gomez. Number three, Dylan Jolor. Number 10, Iwa Educt Polo. Number 11, Moses White. And number 23, Elden TK. >> And coach, I did want to mention mention this too. Coming out of the gate, hot, too. It's big for this extra team. Um Oh,

005is this a pregame technical? >> I think I saw somebody from Memorial Jam. Uh Okay, be Griffith makes one of two. It will be exit ball number 14. Memorial in a man. [cheering] >> Ooh, that's number 11. White getting physical early. I like to see that. It's going to be a It's going to be a good game. >> The jump shot missed by Tyler Wings. The Blue Hawks come out in the two-3 zone. [cheering] Oh, nice pump fake there. Number 10. >> Edok Polo. [applause] They come out in his own pressure. 212. >> Griffith with the ball. >> I like slowing it down here from Griffith. Good job not taking any chances, not rushing a shot. And again, they're in man. >> Looks like they're really trying to limit exit's perimeter shooting. Oh, [cheering] Huxley

006Brown. Good job tipping that to Tibula. Oh man, McDonald gets a shot blocked inside by number 10, Edok Polo. >> Man, he's having a good start. And I like to see the energy and emotion from him. In high school sports, it's so great to see these kids get emotional and into the game. 6-2 guard by [cheering] Memorial forces a turnover with a five count. I think I saw Huxley open a little bit there. Blue Hawks come back down in that two-3 zone. >> It's tough though. Memorial is one of these teams that rivals Xer in their height. Going to be tough to see it over these big guys. >> [cheering] >> Great defense there from Tibida. >> It was some great wrinkle protection. Was able to get up there without falling. >> Rebound by Gomez.

00765 forward junior Joel Gomez from Memorial. >> And you know why? I know it's not football season. He's also a beast of a tight end in in on the football field. >> Good rebound by Huxley Brown. >> You know, this game I think it's going to take a little bit for Xer to settle in. It's only their second home game in eight in their past eight games and six of them have been away. >> Two to one. 5 minutes to go in the first period. The Blue Hawks still in that aggressive two-3 zone. >> Wow, great defense there from Ashley. Good job not fouling. Griffith handling the ball to Brown to Tippido. Good cut inside. Back to Brown. Oh, Griffith and Tibido is foul. Memorial is not afraid to get in Exer's face on these

008shots. >> I mean, you saw Ty with the ball and uh Edok Polo was just right in his face. I mean, inches away. Oh >> man, this is going to this looks like it's already going to be a defensive battle. >> Green gets his own rebound. >> You know, both these defenses are extremely good. >> Oh, good move, >> Edok Mo. Memorial only allows 54 points per game and exit still only allowing 51.2 as well. This is going to be a slugfest I think. >> A nice move by Huxley Tibido. Good rebound and he's fouled. >> Yeah, hit his hand. >> Carrick committed the foul. Number 23. 23 is a rugged guy. >> Yeah. >> And he's a sophomore. >> Oh man. [applause] >> Carson's like, "That guy's only a year older than me." >>

009Tibido. Two foul shots. 131. Uh >> oh. >> Memorial uses their quickness to break that. >> That was Gomez. >> Take him out in a 212 zone press. >> Ah, turnover. Exer's doing a little bit too much. I think they need to slow it down a little bit. They're trying to match Memorial's pace, and that's what Memorial wants you to do. We've seen Exit have so much success when they slow the game down and make the other team play their kind of basketball. Right now, they're playing Memorial Basketball. Oh, nice. Polo >> scramble on the floor, but Polo scores. [laughter] >> I have a feeling we're going to be saying his name a lot. He's already making such an impact. >> Nice follow Huxley Brown. >> There you go with the follow. The Bull Rocks

010back in their 131 zone trap. >> And you know what, Huxley and Jack Jackson Mcdone, they're a great one-two punch. Both of them averaging over 10 points per game. Nice defense here. >> Oh, that's a foul on Huxley Brown. >> I thought he kept his arms pretty straight. >> I thought he kind of rode them with his body. Yeah, I thought I thought maybe TK got a little hook in there, >> but I don't know. I I would like to see more of them play. [cheering] [applause] >> You know what? Memorial is doing a really good job of capitalizing off of what Xer gives them. I think they're they're doing a good job. You see him in transition. They're really good. >> Ter 212 press again. Tamasi and Meyers are in the game. Man, just

011when XR thinks they have an open guy, Memorial just right over does a great job of not letting him get any shot off. >> Foul is on White, his second. >> Oh, that was a shooting foul. Now before >> number 15 is in the game and we defer to our my partner here on the pronunciation. >> Adu Manet. >> There you go. Remember that Carson, we're going to call on you next. >> Yeah. Number 15, Adu Manet. Oh. Oh, nice play. I thought he had a piece. >> Oh, man. >> Derek is fouled inside. >> You know, I think Exer is playing really good defense. I think they're just getting some some bad sides of some close calls. I think just the ball's not bouncing their way right now, as we'd say in football. But

012>> Jarrick makes the first Well, you know, for coming out hot, Memorial came out [screaming] hot. They came out ready [cheering] to play. Let's see how Xer adjusts. We're in fullcourt man now. >> [applause] [applause] >> Edok Polo clapping and you can see the energy on his face right now. He's doing he's having a great first quarter. Oh man. Oh, fast break. Oh. Oh, I'm going to guess that Colin Bullen. >> Oh, man. I thought >> was on the cylinder. Oh, was on the back. >> I thought Tamasi had a great chase down block there. Huxley great hustle trying to get back there on defense, man. >> So, Edok Polo gets the uh credit for the basket. >> [cheering] >> Oh yeah, >> man. He got hit right on the arm. Edo Po looks like

013he might be Oh my Oh my god. [laughter] Oh my goodness. >> Another one. >> Oh my. I was saying he looked like he he wanted the ball. Like he was he was looking at the guy bringing up the court and just absolutely dialed, man. This Memorial defense is suffocating. >> Well, you got to keep the ball out of the trapping area. >> Yeah, >> once you cross half court there. >> Oh, there Memorial's in the penalty. >> Oh, that's a big big foul. >> Two shots. Two foul shots for Tyler Rain. >> [cheering] >> He makes a first >> and the second 16-7 times nearing an end here in the first quarter. They're playing man. Nice pass. Oh, Tamasi. >> Tamasi. >> Oh, I saw that had the distance. That would have been that

014would have been crazy. What a heave from Jackson McDonald, man. >> I'll say this. The Blue Hawks have to combat Memorial's athleticism. >> Yeah. And you know, I actually think, you know, Memorial's defense is extremely aggressive and Exer can use that against them. Get some of these guys in foul trouble. You know, try and the when they drive, Memorial just everyone just crashes into the middle. If you can get a couple of shots or just like in that first quarter, we were in the bonus towards the end. Maybe you can try and get in the bonus earlier in the game. You know, they are an ex they they'll play you right up on your face when you're on the three-point line. We saw it with Re. I mean, there there's some opportunities to draw a

015foul. There's some opportunities. >> Carson, you got any stats for us here? >> Yeah. So, I mean, right now, um, number 10, >> Edok Polo. Yeah. He has 10 of their 16. He's adding great leadership skills as we see the count of the basket off the goending. He all of his points has been from penetrating and driving in the paint except for that one jump shot. They've all been layups. Um so we've had a great game. All all most of his shots gone in. He is five for five. He hasn't missed a single shot tonight. And on free throws here tonight, we got exit five for six in the first quarter. Five free throws in the first quarter. That's pretty good. that I say they're getting to the line like my partner said earlier here.

016Um I think uh with uh the Crusaders aggressive aggressiveness on defense, I think that has it as ups and its downs mainly because all the steals they're getting, but I mean a lot of again the foul trouble. They can get in foul trouble when it comes late in the game and that can make a huge impact. >> Okay, nice pass from Tibido to Tamasi for a basket as they broke the press. And you know what? They had an offensive foul, too. >> Yes, they did. And it was on Sak, who is uh still in there, but they got a sub coming in for him. That was his second one. Good job on the pressure. They It's kind of a 32 now. >> Oh, nice job. >> Nice job by McDonald. Good rebound. Tamasi gets fouled

017inside. >> Man, it's good they they got that foul on Tamasi, but I thought Jackson McDonald took some shots to the face on that one. That was >> Man, >> this is going to be a physical game. >> And I see number 12, Michael Burke into the game at guard for uh That's a That's a hold. >> Tamasi miss. Tibido. Good rebound. Tamasi again. Tibido. Oh, good man. What a block. I I think maybe I I want to wait to see if that shot win, [cheering] >> but I would have liked to maybe see that ball get passed out. Not I mean it was like a boxing match in the foam booth in the paint. >> Just kind of tough score though. Scored for Memorial. >> Boy, good defense by Memorial. double up. You >>

018know, interesting thing I noticed, the bench is barking. Memorial's bench is barking at the player who's closest to them. They were just doing it Tyream. I'm not sure if that's just Ty or if that's what they do. Yeah, it seems like it's just a Tyim thing. Oh, Tyler Reed from Tibido. I believe >> man, I'll tell you this. I if I was Memorial, I don't want to give Tower any chip on his shoulder. He will make you pay. Blue Hawks in a 32 [applause] Memorial with timeout. >> Yeah. 1812 Memorial. 5 and 1/2 minutes to go in the first half. >> You know, this is already looking like a better better quarter. I think Exer is a little bit more settled in now. I think they were almost a little thrown off by Memorial's pressure.

019>> I think they're thrown off by Memorial's athleticism and physicality. Yeah. >> This is a very physical basketball game. >> Yeah. >> And Yeah, I completely agree. And I think now they're trying to I mean you see Jackson McDonald he immediately drove in. They're doing a lot of inside stuff. I think they're trying to get this memorial team in foul trouble. I think they understand I think coach Holmes is discussing with them that you know you can get these guys to basically be forced to back off. I mean they we we've seen in that whole first quarter they almost don't get tired. I mean, we saw Tar played that entire first quarter and man, they just you got to make them back off by getting them in foul trouble. >> Tamasi at 65 up top

020in the 3-2. >> And man, his wingspan, too. He's >> Yeah. And that's a turnover back court by Memorial. >> Yep. That's, you know, that's a great job by Michael Burke there not touching the ball, but also and and not giving uh number 10 um to Edok Polo the chance to maybe turn that into just a possession. Instead, they force turnover. Speaking of turnovers, >> I see Raymond Plant in the basketball game now. Exiter's gone a little smaller. >> Yeah, called that foul on Michael Burke, number 12. I I thought that that was pretty clean. >> Ed Polo at the line. He made the first >> [cheering] >> And the second man, he's having the game already, >> man. He's got 12 points. He's matched extern three zone right now and they're extending. Their guards

021are very active. Oh man, Enoch Polo. He is so quick. [cheering] >> Joel Gomez for three. Oh man, you see the energy on him after that three-pointer. >> 23-2. >> Man, I'm trying to think exit. I mean they they came out of that second quarter they or they started that second quarter off so hot and I they were doing good job of you know dealing with the pressure from Memorial but Memorial just they after that timeout great timeout by their coach did a great job of you know just going back to their game applying a bunch of pressure being physical getting extra uncomfortable you know I'm sure coach Holmes is talking with them in this huddle about you know you got to settle in. You got to get more comfortable. We got to be able

022at at this point now. You got to be able to match their physicality. The refs are letting you play a little bit. You got to match it. >> Now, you know, when looking at their record, >> they've lost eight games. >> Yeah. >> I mean, how >> Yeah. Um >> they look pretty good to me, >> man. Yeah. And especially the one that's really interesting to me is the 37-60 game against Winnant. That one's really intriguing. Not sure. Maybe it just wasn't their night that night. But yeah, that is that's an intriguing game for me. I would like maybe I can go and see if that that game was streamed. >> Memorial out in a press. Foul line jump shot no good. Memorio. One and done for exit. >> Blue Hawks come out. Man >>

023out of the timeout. Oh, nice. >> Very nice. Or Nanless. >> He did a great job of using his size >> and using his left hand. >> Yeah. Tibido >> man again for the blue rocks. I like the matchup of Age on uh Edok Polo because Age can match his speed, his kind of athleticism and man, yeah, Age is probably one of our best defenders and I think he can definitely meet Edako's aggressiveness on the offensive side. >> Ooh, good double. [cheering] Oh. Oh. Offensive play a control foul >> on number 20. That's >> Oh, >> said he pushed off. >> Man, that's that's Edok Polo's first miss of the game according to my man Carson. That is >> 212 >> pressure for Memorial. It's managed to slow down the Blue Hawks. Whoa, >> man.

024That was that was just a tough shot. He's got three looked like three defenders on him. And with the way Memorial plays defense, that feels like 10. Edo, >> he made that shot right over Tibido. Tibau's hand was I thought Tibido was going to get a piece of that. >> Oh man. Push off on Edok Paula. >> Number four in the game. They're one foul away from the bonus and there's almost two minutes remaining. >> Jackson McDonald with the basket off the inbounds. 2716. >> Jackson McDonald was named C Coast player of the week. I mentioned it on the last broadcast broadcast with uh Jessica Melik last week. Man, he is he's been great this year and he's only junior. He's got one more year. Oh, nice pass. >> Oh, man. [cheering] You know what?

025Memorial had two players fall down, but their pure hustle got them and got Exer into a situation where they weren't really comfortable taking any shot. Man, that is a great defensive possession from Memorial. What's going to happen if when the ball gets inside, they can't put the ball on the floor. >> Yeah, >> Memorial is just too quick, >> man. [cheering] Gomez went for the highlight reel. Oh, charge [cheering] >> man. >> Huxley took a tough fall there. the last minute of the first half. Memorial with an 11point lead. >> Let's see what Xer does to try and take some momentum into that locker room at half. >> Nice defense from McGee. Got to pass it. Nice. A Griffin for three. Man, I I knew that thing was good off the hand. Man, the ghee.

026Great three there. Let's see if they can get a defensive stop here. [screaming] Nice. [cheering] Nice. >> [cheering] >> Man, J-Mack, man. Exit starting to get some momentum here. Jmack, what a layup, man. He had Gomez on his back. Two seconds to go in the first half. 27 Bluehawks on a a big run here right before the half. And it's >> hit the rim. That was close, >> man. That is a way to end the half. That is a way to end the half with the way Memorial is playing to only be down six going into half. And Coach Holmes, I know this from last year going in and doing some interviews with him before he went in for half. He's one of the best halftime adjustment coaches. Anything he would tell me on the

027sideline, he'd come out and do. So, we'll see how this second half goes for Exit. But, man, that's a way to end the half, especially when it didn't start off the way you wanted. >> Any uh stats you've got for us Carson here at halftime? >> I mean, yeah. Uh exit, they have a lot of play good players scoring. They have Ree with four. We have a Gee with four. They have I mean they have McDonald with four and then they have um Tamasi with three and Tibido for four. I mean a lot of good people a lot of different people are getting touches on the ball which is nice to see. I always feel like when a lot of people out on the floor for exit are making shots um especially when there's multiple

028people that are um putting up numbers then I think they play really well cuz there's multiple people having good nights and confident. But man, I mean, like you said, um the Crusaders here are hold it um held sorry, the uh Blue Hawks to 21 points in this half. If they continue this defense, that's only 42. And that's a pretty lowscoring game for the Blue Hawks with this great offense. And I'd also like to point out that at the end of the first quarter, the Exitter Blue Hawks had five points. That's insane. And now to see them at 21 points, I think that's a great second half adjustment by the Exit Blue Rocks. And I think if they continue this streak, um, if they score another 16, I think, uh, they're in this game and I

029think they can win this. So, yeah, I'm excited to see what plays out. >> Okay. Well, we just had Chucka Duck out there. >> All right. >> And, uh, number one, >> I think we're going to take a break here. We'll be be back in a couple of minutes to bring you the second half. basketball signed by the team. Come on, man. Come on. Come on. Come on. Congratulations. [cheering] Yes. >> Come on down. to right now. All right. This is for you. The number is 845 0500. That's 8450 500 0. All right. All right. Our winning ticket for the chocolate is 845 054 four basketball number is 845 that's 84505 New York for right 04 455 4545545. I want to thank you all for tonight and also bring us back. Thank you so much.

030And if you haven't yet, Wait for it. 845 055 0 84 5 Thank you. [cheering] Second half. [cheering] >> [cheering] >> Hey, heat. Hey. Okay. >> I thought we were on. >> So good. It was perfect. Just got to repeat it now. >> Well, now we got to repeat it. Yeah. I was saying that uh we're back here at halftime and boy, the exit high gym is hopping with young fans and uh boy. >> Yeah. I mean, the XR boys team, they came running through that tunnel of uh of fans and then obviously the Crusaders as they're walking back in, they're getting booed. And man, I'll tell you this, little kids. I have a little nephew at home, man, they are ruthless. So, you know, we'll see if they they can play a factor. I

031mean, they get loud in the late game and all this stuff, man. I mean, yeah, if you heard them during the free throws, they are they they don't hold anything back yet, >> man. But they I'm I'm interested to see how this Memorial team plays in the second half. I was talking to you about a little bit during halftime, coach. I notice a little bit of not ex exhaustion, but tiredness from some of the Memorial players. I mean, you look at them and they're running around. They're all up in your face. They're the the amount of energy they exert is so crazy and you know it gets to them. Occasionally you'll see them with their hands on their knees but man we'll see that really comes into play in the fourth quarter. So if Vexer

032can keep it close till then maybe take a lead that can pay dividends. >> Yeah I mean I don't think Edok Polo has come out of the game and he's running all this time. He's progressing on full court, playing man defense, full court, and then all these great drives on offense, exerting a lot of energy, >> travel. >> He did. He took an extra step. >> Oh, I thought maybe I'm also interested to see how Exer comes out after that first possession. You know, they >> Exit is playing man. They had a they had a great little five-point burst at the end and you're talking they were originally down 11 points, double digits and man now they're only down single digits, six points, >> eight points now. >> Joe Gomez. >> Gomez, man, he rised

033up >> and they come out in that 212 pressure. >> Good rebound by Huxley. Good rebound by McDonald. >> That's a pass by Tyne. That was a great pass >> again. The Blue Hawks in man. Not a great shot that time. One pass and a shot by Memorial. Not what they were looking for. >> Man, Tyler Re's got that ball on the string. Gomez again for three. >> I'll tell you this, Memorial is making XRP pay with these three-point shots. Ah, >> almost. >> Oh, I think Memorial's coach wants a kickball on that. >> Yeah. Well, he didn't make a kicking motion. It did go off his leg. Yeah, >> it was more just a low kind of a low pass. Tough window to fit it through for Memorial. >> Oh man, White's got to

034watch that knee. >> I like a ghee right here getting extremely physical with Ed Polo. Oh man. [cheering] >> Wow. What a trick for basket. He had Xer draped all over him. >> 212 again. Pressure. Good cut. and O'Donald. Woo! >> McDonald played a big part in that little burst after that in in that late first half. He got the steal in transition, made a tough layup. Another great acrobat shot there. He's great at those. >> Good foul shot. 3426 Memorial. >> Oh man. >> Turn over. >> That's We got three fouls on uh White. He did just check out of the game. I think that might be why. Some foul trouble. Oh man, great hustle from Huxley here. [cheering] Wow, Huxley Brown, man. He went coast to coast on that hustle. You know, Memorial

035wants a foul on that, but it's just been a physical game. I mean, they the refs are letting them play. Even if he made a little contact there, I mean, that's just how this game has been. >> Oh, nice. Good discipline there from Age Griffith. >> Good rebound by Tamasi. >> Yeah, on that on that defensive possession, Age didn't bite on any of Edo's fakes and that was great. Made that shot extremely tough. Oh man, you know, Tamasi had a great close out there on Gomez. Gomez has been shooting the three ball extremely well. Just great job from Tamasi not letting him get that three off. >> Karen, man, that kid's a sophomore. Oh my god. >> Good rebound. Tamasi >> grabbed the air ball and laid it in. >> Hands all over his arms,

036too. Great job making that through some contact. >> Whoa, heat check. That was a heat check. Gomez, >> you know, he shoots that line drive jumper and that puppy goes in. >> McDonald to the hoop. Jmack, man. Gomez, man. He's four for five from three with 14 points, man. Ooh, Ed Cole not having as good as a >> He's kind of cooled off a little bit. >> I think he's one of the most active players on this defense. It might be a little bit of exhaustion kicking in. It's tough. That gas tank, it's got to be deep if you're going to play this kind of basketball. Yeah, that's a foul. >> [cheering] >> Yeah, >> I'm not too sure why >> he's kind of doing the checking for rain. He smacked Tamasi right on the

037hand. >> That's too >> That's T's third. >> Third. That's That's a guy you want in foul trouble. That's a guy you want to foul out. I mean, he is so good on the inside. >> [applause] >> Orelus is in the game for TK. >> Nice job, Tomasi. >> Tomasi's gotten a lot better at shooting free throws as the season's gone on. Whoa. >> Jeez. >> They're going to call down Nate Tamasi. >> Nice steal. >> That's That's Edok Polo on the foul. McDonald nice steel >> and gets fouled. >> Number 20 Pig Groove is in the game. >> Nice screen by Tamasi. Double foul. >> Double foul call number 23 for the little second. Tamasi second. >> Polo third. >> You know, I like that call by the ref there. They both were kind

038of getting physical with each other, trying to match each other's physicality. Tamasi Nate Tamasi went up and under. >> Good job by Tamasi there playing two guys at once. Great job. played right in between them. >> Oh man, Hawks with great defense. [cheering] I don't know again Manchester doesn't grew that call, but even 20 Orless, he knew that was out on him. He immediately started running back. zone right now by Memorial. They push the ball up the floor but throw it away. >> [applause] >> Great hustle from Cooper Pedigro, the junior. >> And great hustle there. >> Let's see if Xer can cut this to a one possession lead here. Good rebound. >> Nice rebound. >> Had a groove. >> Good block. >> What a block. >> Oh, [screaming] >> we're back for a block.

039Oh my god. It's a block party right now, man. Man, I thought that Tamasi block was crazy and then Gomez matches it. Man, they both they just got right up above the the offensive player and just almost like slam the ball on the ground with their blocks. Man, I hope someone got photo of that block from Tamasi. Oh, storm out of his hands. >> [applause] >> Man, you know what? Pedigro is not the tallest on the court. He's a great rebounder. >> Once again, exit gets in the bonus with 13 seconds to go. I think all three quarters would been the bonus. >> Ah, he made one of two four-point game with 11 seconds, [cheering] >> man. You know what? Hopefully that cooled off Gomez that missed Buzzer beer before half uh before the fourth

040quarter. Exit starting to build some momentum here. They are they are and you know what they did extremely well in that in that third quarter is they drove the ball. They were patient. Obviously there was one or two turnovers at the end of that quarter. They really did a lot better of a job of dealing with the pressure from Memorial and not turning the ball over quickly passing the ball to just get make Memorial move, make them exert that energy, get them tired. I mean, Ed Polo, he's been a little quiet in that in the second half. >> He's only got one basket in the in this half. I mean, man, he >> and he started it off like uh he was going to take over the gym. Exactly. >> How about some stats there,

041Carson? You got some quickly. >> I mean, yeah, from Edo Polo, he five for five in the first quarter. But now, as we see in the third quarter, he is 0 for two. He only shot two shots, which is different. And he missed both of them. So, we're definitely slowing down Edok Polo. I really liked that switch when the Geese started playing them. I definitely thought that was a lot more um better. And like I said, exit slowly making their way back. They were down by like they were down by six going into halftime and now they're down by four and I think they have a chance to win this thing and I'm really excited cuz um I mean Gomez has been hitting shots lately. So I feel like once we find the solution to

042Gomez if we do good on offense I feel like we have a really good chance of winning this. >> Okay, Memorial with the ball. Exit playing man. >> Man, that was a tough shot to make for Adu Menet. Shot it over three defender. >> What he gets? >> Oh, Tamasi [applause and cheering] jump ball. Bluehawk ball. Tamasi's Tamasi's hustle, man, to pick that ball up, be willing to scrap and get dirty. This game is looking like, like I said in the first half, it's going to be a boxing match in the foam booth. The Blue Hawks down four. [laughter] Rain. Oh, man. Maybe that will get him going. >> Don't let him get hot. >> Manto man for the Blue Hawks. Memorial with a weave. >> Nice defense there, >> man. Pedigro holding his ground.

043Oh, Tibido. Dibido with a block and Memorial with a foul. Man, we can capture our first lead since I think one to zero. Oh no, we're not free throws yet. My my bad. I I don't know why I don't know why I thought we were shooting free throws. I thought it was still the third quarter, but still on this possession can still capture the lead. >> Memorial in a two-3 zone. Oh yeah, that's a foul on Tamasi. >> Man, I thought maybe there was a push off on Jackson trying to grab that rebound. But like I said in that third quarter, these refs are letting them play. They're letting them be physical. >> 1211 pressure for the for the Blue Hawks. Edok Polo is back in the game and they've got him trapped. We got

044three fouls on Tamasi and he's important especially late game just his size and his overall wingspan. Timeout. >> Memorial. >> 3938. We have six minutes to go >> in the basketball game. >> You know what, coach? I think Exader vers Memorial for basketball might be just some of the best high school basketball. I mean, it doesn't matter if it's freshman, JV, or varsity. All three of these games have been close and great. And man, I can't wait for this last six minutes. Thank you, coach, for all the hard work all season long. >> Oh, and coach, I I quickly want to shout the unified team, state champs. Ninetime state champs. >> Did they win? >> Yeah. >> All right, >> they won. Uh I I'll see if I can get the score, but I just

045thought that they did win. And >> Coach Nichols will be adding another ring to her hand. Man, she's she's almost filling up both of those. coach QR coach on the program for more information about White and Here we go. The Blue Hawks in 1211. Oh. Oh. [cheering] Oh man, >> good job by Memorial there breaking the breaking the pressure from Axer. >> Blue Hawks in a 131 zone. >> Gomez Gomez three-point dead eyee right now. And the Crusaders in a two-3 zone. >> Nope. >> About to check in here. Oh, >> good defense from Coupe. >> Oh, no. >> Man, that man's got a magnet in the ball right now. That is just a foul. [cheering] >> That's his fourth. Oh, that's his fourth. >> That's what their second already this quarter. Fourth quarter is

046probably the last quarter you want the opposing team in bonus. I mean, can't don't want to give up any free free throws, free baskets. Nice play jump. Oh, he got time out. Good job by the coach to get it off there. Did he jump like 7 ft in [laughter] the air for that? That was crazy. He's on another level. You know what this reminds me of is when me and when you couldn't come to the game, me and Mr. Provost did the do game and man do had this kid drop 25. I mean I have never seen someone come in and just it didn't matter how Xer guarded him. Exer would double him, put a ghee on him, put Tamasi on him and he was just everything he could to get to that basket and

047it just seemed like it was his night. Uh Edok Polo, he's looking like he's having one of those nights. Exer, let's see how they can counteract it this time. How many points, Carson? How many points for Gomez? >> Gomez, he has 17 and Polo has 16. Those two right now, I mean, that's that's 33 of their 38 points. To think that these two players have 33 of their 38 points is just insane to think about. >> Whoa. Oh, that's gonna be Yeah, that's gonna be off t, man. They have all but 11 points for Memorial. That is crazy. >> McDonald back in the game. >> So, you know what? >> The ball. >> If I'm actually I'm trying to make the other guys do something. I'm trying to absolutely eliminate Ju uh I'm trying to

048eliminate Gomez and Edok Polo from the game. Just try and make someone else step up. I mean it now with Tark on the court, man. We saw him in the first quarter. He can just bounce bodies. So, it's more it's easier said than done. [cheering] Memorial with a six-point lead. 4 minutes and 14 seconds to go. Blue Hawks coming out playing man. Final four. Let's see what happens here. Travel. Yep. And you know what? Good job by Exit there. They did a great job of once the guy got to the got to the boundary line under the basket, they just completely shut him off from any help. He had to really just try and get kind of hook up that ball and hope that Edo Boo got that ball. Nice pass. >> How is that

049not >> Oh boy, that was goalending. >> Yeah, I thought I'm surprised that that wasn't called goalending, coach. I almost thought >> I agree. >> You know, the ball was coming on coming down and you just you can't do that. Oh man, that was >> I still can't believe that wasn't called goalending, coach. That was >> It looked like that ball was coming down. Back to the corner of the line. Two of the two. >> McDonald makes it first. He's got one more. >> Oh. Oh. In and out. Nice rebound from McGee there. [cheering] Yeah, that's going to be a foul. Oh, careful there. It's going to be their four. They're one away from putting Xer in the bonus with almost 230 to go. >> [cheering] >> Oh man, I do. Man, I'll tell you

050this. Second time he's pulled an exit player down to the ground on a on a jump ball. He's got to be careful. The refs are not going to let him keep doing that. >> Blue Hawks in that pressure. >> Oh, y'all burned another timeout there. Good job. Good defense there from Exiter. They did not let Edo Polo or Gomez touch that ball. Touch that ball. >> Carson, who is the high scorer for Exit right now? >> Uh, currently the high score for Exiter seems to be McDonald with 12, but closely behind we have Tamasi with nine of his own and Tyler with seven. But it seems McDonald has 12. over here on Crusaders. I mean, it's just Gomez and Edok Edok Edok Polo. I'm sorry. But, uh, they have 17 and 16. So, with, um,

051the Crusaders having their top two scores 17 and 16. That's too high. But, like I said earlier, um, Exador is a lot of great players who can put up a lot of great points. And as we see from Tyler, Jackson McDonald, and Tamasi, I mean, they all have 9, seven, and 12. So, they have their own uh grid scoring nights each of them. >> Okay, 2 minutes and 16 seconds to go in the basketball game. The Blue Hawks are trailing by five. Memorial has the ball. The Blue Hawks are in a zone. >> Oh, Tamasi, man. Look at him hustle. >> Crusaders are playing keep away. You're going to have to go, man. >> Oh. I think that's >> 21. That's Tamasi's fourth >> again. The Bull Hawks are in that in the zone. >>

052Nice job by Tibido there. Minute and 30 seconds to go. We need a good shot and we need a basket. Oh, when we're not Oh, nice save. How did Tyler Ree save that ball? He he like he had it in front of him, swooped it behind his back, and somehow that Jackson McDonald, Tyler Green chemistry, they're in the same grade. They play football together, man. That chemistry. Oh, 1 minute and 22 seconds to go. The Blue Hawks are down by a possession. Three. They've managed to close a gap to a three-point deficit. 4441. >> Absolutely have to limit Gomez getting the ball at the perimeter. Now inside the perimeter, he shot he's shot in it twice today and neither one has gone in. He's done a very good job of shooting from the perimeter. Force

053him to be uncomfortable. Edo Polo, don't let him touch the ball. Keep him away from the ball at all cost, man. Make these other guys step up. Okay, the Blue Hawks come out one, two, one. Pressure fullourt. Memorial's going to get the ball. >> Nate Tamasi's got to be careful here. Cannot have him f fall foul out. Jeez. Gomez who has all of their three-pointers. >> They double up Edok polo. Oh, he passed it right to him. Tyler Bang clutch. >> What a shot from Ty. And you know what? They let him shoot that. They did not think he was going to make that. They gave him way too much space. They applied no pressure. Memorial holding the ball for one. Oh my god. >> I think that's a Tamasi to spit. Um, so I

054I understand being a ref is extremely hard, but I thought he had his arm straight up this late in the game, too. Man, I I don't like that call. I don't like that call. I thought he played that about as best he could. So, shooting two. Oh, yeah. He makes a first. Well, you know what? I will say this. Getting a two-pointer. Say makes both of these. Getting a two-pointer for Xer is a lot easier than a three-pointer. [screaming] >> Dang. Makes them both. Ice cold. >> The big man five for six at the free throw line. >> Comes out fullourt pressure. Man pressure. Tuck Polo on McDonald [screaming] and the basket. Three-point [applause] [cheering] foul was on Ed Polo. That's his fourth. He is one foul away from being out of here. >> [laughter]

055>> Both teams in the bonus, too. Any foul could put them at the free throw line. >> Yeah, these >> these old kids got quiet down. They were too hype after that. I don't blame him, though. I'll tell you, uh I don't know if you saw it, but Coach Holmes grabbed Tamasi to get him in the game. Tamasi goes out. [laughter] >> Yeah. Man. Oh. Oh. [screaming] Tibido. >> Man. >> Timeout memorial. >> I thought Tibido had that rebound. Tamasi's got his jersey off. Man, I love Tamasi, man. His energy. He is. Well, he has to cuz he I mean, if he didn't say anything, he would they would have tried to put him back in the game. No. So, would that be a would that be a technical? How would that Yeah. Oh, man.

056Good catch by Tomasi. I don't blame coach Holmes for trying to get him in this game, though. If there was a way, maybe we get Astra Bartell switch some jerseys around. >> Okay. 46 46 seconds to go. >> Man, you know what? >> If I'm Memorial, >> the two I want shooting are either Sar inside or Gomez face up. >> Yep. And you know, coach, I was just about to say, you know, we've been doing the girls games recently. They've been absolutely dominating their opponents. This has been a great game just for viewing. It's been close to the end. [screaming] Blue Hawks in a 122 zone. >> Looks like they'll hold out for the last shot here. >> Time out Memorial. >> That's the last one. >> 14 seconds to go. And now you know

057if Exit gets the ball and they get fouled, they're in the bonus. Oh, >> so is in Memorial. >> Both teams in the bonus, >> man. And you know what? This is this is about as high pressure as you can have a game. Memorial will probably try and hold it. I I think they probably try and hold it till about 5 seconds. Put a shot up, try and get a rebound, but if they have an open shot, they're going to take it. If I'm exit, I am making sure Gomez is far away from from open. He I again, I can't stress this enough. You got to make the other guy step step up, but you also got to make sure Tar isn't open on the inside. Make sure Tibido is on Tar. Make sure you

058got a guy that matches his length. Maybe Huxley matches his length and size. And man, this has been a good game. >> With Exit being in the bonus, what do you think uh the Crusaders are going to do if they end up going on D? >> They're going to play man. Yeah, they got to play man here because Ector will just play for that last shot. And they've been successful in man. No reason to go away from it. Four Gomez. Oh no. The referee waved it off. He did not get rid of the ball in time. Man, I'll tell you this, that was about as close as you could have a put back. I mean, that reminds me of Derek White game seven against the Heat in uh game six against the Heat in Miami.

059Unfortunately, these refs don't have replay, but I think he got it right. It was so close. It was close, >> but I'll tell you the referee up top, Kevin Ames, he called it right away. >> Yep. >> The I think the buzzer sounded as he was hit putting his It looked like at least to me he was still getting his hands up like almost like putting the ball on the glass. But man, that was close. And you know what? Exitter has, even though that was an extremely close call and Exer's kind of got settled down for Memorial, that's deflating. I mean, Exer has had so much momentum in this fourth quarter and you almost had it. You almost had I mean, it's deflating. You think you won the game and now you got to come

060back out here and play another four minutes. And look, you got you got Memorial players with their hands on their knees. Exiter standing straight up. Let's see if Exert's conditioning can help them win this game. >> Yeah, I mean to think I mean I don't know if you guys still remember, but to go back with the Geese free throw before the game started. >> Oh, McDonald tap tap play. But yeah, yeah, Carson is absolutely correct. That >> that's one that that one point there has brought the Blue Hawks into overtime here where they're now up for the first time since that play before the game even started. Ah, >> Co gets fouled inside. Coach, I'm really trying to do a good job of not, you know, being too hard on the refs. High school basketball

061is extremely hard call, but he had his hand on the ball. That was a clean block, but man, tell you, for a sophomore, he's hitting some pressure foul shots. He's going to be good next year. And this Memorial team next year might be a uh state champ. I mean, he is 7 for8 from the free throw line. Just think with his size and as a sophomore being some free is incredible. Even getting to the line four times, that's when you know he's good. >> Memorial comes out in man. >> Man, what an electric game so far. All three games today. Freshman JV and varsity have all been close. The freshman team [screaming] won by two points. Came down to the buzzer. Miss shot by Memorial JV team. I heard it was a good game. I

062wasn't there, but it heard it was very close. And I mean this game, what an incredible game to watch these two teams, >> man. and Exer just got to stay disciplined on defense. They're doing a great job right now. They're in that 3-2 zone. Oh, Gomez cooled off a little bit. A got the speed match up there, but Tark is a great defender. >> Good timeout here. >> Timeout Rocks. Good timeout. >> 2 minutes and 14 seconds to play. It's tied up still. 4848, >> man. I like the timeout there from Coach Holmes. I like it. Settle in. Try and drop a quick bucket cuz man, scoring that basket off the tip in overtime, it put you in a position where now Memorial was chasing you. And after, like I said, a deflating kind of

063situation, you know, Manchester doesn't have as much momentum as Exer does. And Exer's definitely they they feel extremely they probably feel extremely, you know, hyped up that they're here. You know, they've made a great comeback tonight. They, you know, made a great, you know, quick run late fourth quarter to even tie the game and keep it tied. And man, right now, I I think I'm liking Xers's chances. Well, 4848 214. >> And I mean, yeah, to think there have been two different lead changes in three ties. Like, I mean, I I just can't believe that the the Crusaders were up this entire game >> besides for the 10 start with the technical foul, which I still don't even know it was on. I mean, Crusaders were up from the beginning until the very end when

064Exiter tied it up and Exit took their first lead going into overtime. And now it's back in three ties. Let's see. Tyler with the ball and he hit that big three-pointer late in the fourth to tie it up. man. >> Nice [laughter] round, man. [cheering] Wow. He made down like three defenders. That's only its fourth point, but what a point to be with 1 minute and 30 seconds left in overtime. One minute to go. Gomez pulled off. Tibido with a big rebound. Nice. [cheering] >> Good timeout. Good timeout. I I think he got off when Re was right on this on this baseline. Great timeout from Coach Holmes there. Re was a little bit trapped and he got the pass off, but definitely good. Drop another play. try and get in our bucket. >> 52

065seconds to go in the basketball game. 5048. >> Coach, I think we got to start putting heart monitors on us. Man, [laughter] my I think my heart beats at about 100 beats per minute right now. I man, that basket by Hustler Brown was huge. >> That was a a very good move inside. And if you remember, he got the ball. I think he power well power dribble and then made his move. >> Yeah. And you know, he he does a great job of not just using his height, but his strength to get a good close shot bucket. And that's why he's so good. He's also good at the mid-ranges, too. So, if I'm Memorial, I try and limit that as well. >> And they were running uh red out here. That's their favorite play to

066run against the man defense. So, it's nice to see that they went to it down. And less than a minute left here to go. 50 seconds. >> 40 seconds. >> Oh, give me [cheering] >> Come on, man. >> Huxley back on D. >> Oh, good re. Oh, man. You know what? >> 29 seconds. >> Great job from Huxley here. He had he's had some great hustling plays even though he's only got four points. Man, the difference he's made just hustling from one side of the court in transition on the defense. Great hustle, but man, I thought they fouled the ghee there. >> Yeah, I mean, if he doesn't get back on D, this is a tie game. >> Gomez [cheering] air ball. Oh my to another great timeout from coach Holmes. That's their That's the

067last one. They are done. >> But with 16 seconds just advancing the ball, right, coach? Is that No, it doesn't advance the ball. [cheering] >> Goes back to the spot. >> Only Only in the pros do they advance the ball. >> The Blue Hawks, it goes to the spot. >> Now, I'll Sorry, C. >> No, you go. You go. >> I'll tell you what. You got the student section over there hopping around. You got the little kids hopping around. This is a fantastic environment right now. And you know what? If you're Memorial again, you're just kind of crushed. It feel you're you're almost not they weren't necessarily dominating, but that first quarter, they were dominating. They started to cool off a little bit as as exhaustion kind of kicked in. [cheering] And they they led

068almost this entire game. And then you almost win it off a tip in man. Get the ball in. Tibido gets fouled by Salah. 13 seconds to go. >> Now, I don't know if you noticed, but Tyler Ree down here when Tibido caught the ball, he was trying to call timeout. Exador's no timeouts left. If the refs saw that and they end up calling timeout, that is a technical foul. >> Jeez. >> Two [cheering] shots. That's huge. Tippido makes it first. I'll tell you what, making that first one's absolutely huge cuz now, not only if you make this as a two-possession game, even if you miss, they got to get a three-pointer. It is so much more difficult to score a three-pointer in high pressure situations than a two-pointer. Cuz when you're down two, you got

069so much more open. You can hit a three for the lead, you can hit a two for tie. And I mean, [cheering] with Gomez the only person to have made a three-point shot on the Crusaders, I feel like if we can guard them, then >> wait, I don't think Crusaders have another timeout. >> I think you get >> Yeah, you get a one added in overtime. >> Yeah. And I think that's what Xer thought the same thing. I think they thought that that would that they that should have been a tech, but they do get that one added that hat uh added in overtime. Both teams get an extra one. >> Yeah, that's why we had uh three to use in this four >> in this four minutes. >> Okay, Memorial will have the ball.

070They'll be at 3/4 court. There's 11 seconds to go. I think that's.9, isn't it? >> Uh4 11.4. >> Hawks with a three-point lead. Obviously, Memorial's going to go for the three-pointer to tie. >> It's so fun to see Tamasi. He was so excited over there on the bench. He was just jumping up and down. It's great to see how much energy and how much team spirit as he's yelling, cheering on his teammates, even after fouling out. I mean, I just think his team spirit is the highest on the whole team. And like um you've said earlier, when he's in the game and he gets going, it's just so much more energy and he brings just so much spirit to the team. Yeah, he's he's the best on the team about just giving them energy and

071man, he's just he's an awesome player. Threw ups in that zone. They're going to defend the three-pointer. They want Gomez. Odok Polo. No good. What [screaming] a game over. [cheering] 5148. >> They were trying to get it to Gomez, but Exit knew the assignment. man. >> Yeah, >> coach. I think that was one of the best defensive possessions I've seen from Exoder all season. They Gomez couldn't get a breath of fresh air and then AMA sorry Edok Polo he he's trying to get that last shot off. He they took him down to you know 1 second. He just kind of had to huck it up and Exer's got two guys on him. I mean that is extremely difficult shot to make and he didn't even hit the rim butt man polo man he can't hang

072his head at all great game Gomez great game >> okay player of the game for Memorial kind of who I would say >> I I know Gomez hit some threes but Edok Polo man he great defense was up in exer's face great job getting baskets in the second half he cooled off a a little bit. I think a little bit of that was some exhaust ex exhaustion and stamina, but you know what? Overall, I think he had a great game. >> Okay, I would I would add Gomez to that. I thought he had a real good game. >> Again, he cooled off a little bit at the end, >> but he hit some big shots for them. How about Blue Hawks player of the game, >> man? Jackson McDonald, man. He was C Coast athlete

073of the week last week. And you know what? This week he's Tim's player of the game. I don't know which one means more. Just saying. But no, that he had some amazing steals. We talked about it after half. He had that big steal and that tough layup before half. Kind of started this extra comeback in a geese three and then he had that huge and one in the fourth quarter. >> I thought I agree with you. I thought he changed the course of that basketball game. >> Yeah, I mean >> it be he made some big plays. He made some big shots. He penetrated. He made some good passes. >> He's mine. >> Yeah, he's he's mine, too. He's uh Man, that was a a a great game from Exit in general. I mean, the

074way they fought after being down almost the entire game. That's great to see. And that's a great way to start your push to the playoffs, >> right? >> And that puts them in plus 500 record as now they're eight and seven, which is nice to see to know you have a winning record going to halftime. And also kind of saying, um, Jax McDonald had zero points in the first quarter. He was 0 for three on twos, 0 for one on three-pointers. And just to see his determination and coming back with four in the second, seven in the third, three in the fourth, and two in overtime. It was just amazing game by Jackson. >> Okay. Well, the final score for the final time, the Exit Blue Hawks 51 and the Memorial Crusaders 48. We will
