001Good morning, SA 16. This is superintendent of schools, Chris Andrriski, and here I am with our 60 and 16. And our spotlight this week is our facilities department. I am here with our director of facilities, Brian Sans. And Mr. Sans, I just want to thank you and your staff for all the countless hours you put in when we have snowstorms uh and what you do in preparation to get our schools ready both inside and outside. Can you let the community know just a little bit about what your day looks like when you're preparing for for storms to make sure that staff and students come to school safely? Yeah, absolutely, Chris. Um, it's really not just one day. As uh we lead up to the storm, we're viewing all the weather patterns, trying to make the
002best decision for our obviously staff, students, teachers, and making sure we can get in safely to uh take care of the snow. Uh when it's a really big storm, it's easy for us for the fact that we don't have to have a real timeline for making sure the buildings are safe to open. Uh but then the real work begins. multiple shifts, long hours, making sure we're coordinating with our soil removal vendor. Um, making sure we can manage the piles and get them into the proper areas so they're not impeding any spots for staff, students uh who are driving. Uh, and then after the storm, the big thing is making sure we're treating uh so that we can prevent slip, trips, and falls, and then [snorts] make sure we uh refill our resources and we're ready
003for the next one. >> Thank you, Mr. Sands. As much as I enjoy our 3:30 in the morning calls on some of those days, I know your staff's already on the the ground doing the work. So, it's much appreciated. And I on behalf of the SAU16 community, thank you for you and all of your staff for what you do to make sure we get here safe and sound. uh SA16 community.
