001Good morning, SIU 16. This is superintendent of schools Chris Andrriski and here I am at Newfields Elementary School for the first 16 and 16 in 2026. I'm accompanied by three students from fifth grade as well as Principal Griffith. Principal Griffith, happy new year. And can you tell us about the amazing things these students are doing? >> Yes, happy new year, Dr. Andreki. Our fifth grade students have the opportunity to be part of a rock band. And I am going to let them tell you a little bit more. Hi, I'm Lily and I think that it's super cool that in our school we get to do a fifth grade rock band. We started by choosing a song. Each [snorts] of us thought of a song that we wanted and then we voted. Eventually, we landed on

002a song, Mystical Magical by Benson Boon. Hi, I'm Charlie and this is how on we chose the five instruments which are drums, keyboard, bass, and electric guitar. And last but not least, vocals. What? >> We also made a video which we had to use a green screen and we also used Garage Band for like autotune and that and our entire class joined in in the video too. From my perspective, the rock bands are an excellent chance for the kids to get really involved uh in music in the nuts and bolts where they're uh motivated by the song that they choose. Um and they're trying out all the instruments uh and we get to use notation and things that uh they're they're pretty engaged in because it's what they want to do. They want that final

003product of having a rock video or playing a live show. There's nothing colder than [singing] your shoulder when you dragging me along like you do. [music] Like you do. And then you switch up with my woman. And [music and singing] you kiss me like you want it. How rude. How rude. But I kind of like it anyways. I don't mind if this is going to take a million [singing] days. I know you'll come around, relax. Newfields Elementary School in fifth grade. Thank you so much for sharing. I am super excited to see the end product. I can't wait to watch the video. And I think Wyatt, you're going to do the flip like Ben Simbo. Is that what I heard? Maybe. No pressure. Anyways, thank you SA 16 and we will see you in a

004couple weeks.
