001[music] Heat. Hey, Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. >> [music] >> Heat. [music] Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Great feet there by [music] mano. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] >> and your Blue Hawks. >> Welcome to Exit High School. >> As tonight, >> the Exit Bluehawks take on the Portsouth Clippers. >> In division one basketball action, I'm Bill Taylor alongside my partner >> Timothy Hollister. And our third man who doesn't have his mic ready, >> Carson Curtis will be doing some stats for us. Okay, the starting lineups first for Portmith. Sophomore Finn McCaulay number zero. Number one, Anthony Perola. Number two, Ryan Schwarz. Number four, Isaiah Reese. And number five, Derek Schwarz for the exit Blue Hawks. Number 34, Huxley Brown. Number

00223, Jack Tibido. >> Number 21, Nate Tamasi. >> Number four, AE Griffith. And number two, Tyler Green. And now our national anthem. Heat. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Tim, what should we look look for in tonight's basketball game? >> Yeah. Uh, you know, T uh Jack Tibido's keys to victory for Exer tonight. Limit turnovers and get the offense into rhythm. You know, this extra team has been dominating as of recently in uh on the defensive side of the ball. They held the Lancers last week, who they played on Tuesday, to 13 points in the first half. They won that game 5135. As we know from the Salem game, that second half, their defense really locked down. And you know, tonight they want

003they they know that this Portsouth offense is dangerous. Isaiah Ree, who recently just scored his 10,000th career point. Congrats to him. They can score. So, tonight is where we're going to figure out how good this defense is. Are they the anchor? And obviously got to get the offense into rhythm. It's going to build throughout the year. We're going to see improve night tonight. Let's see if tonight can be one of those nights where they finally click. Okay, the Blue Hawks picking up full court and number five for Portsmouth brings the ball up and lets it rip. Got scramble early. >> Scramble on the floor. Who else? Oh, tough shot. Good hustle by Hudson Brown right there. They call over and back. Yeah, [cheering] it was >> good hustle early from both teams. This getting scrappy

004um in the sense that the ball's loose that every team's being super physical right now. Uh Tib said one of one of Exer's keys to their dominating defense has been their activity. They're willing to move around. They're, you know, no, they're not giving you a step at all. They're going to make you work for every single step up the court. We're seeing that early. Okay, exit comes out in their zone two-3 zone tonight and Portsmouth is playing man. >> Zach Timmy though. >> Good rebound by D Tamasi or Tamasi, excuse me. >> Good job by Adid to control that and slow it down. Foul on Fel Carella. Sorry, Carella. >> Blue Hawks getting the ball underneath. Tyler Ree going to inbound the ball. There's a Griffith. Bang. >> Bang for three. A man he's he's

005been that guy this year getting the team started getting them jump started [applause] >> again exit in his own [cheering] good ball movement from Portsmouth good close out D from McGee but good ball movement from Portsouth they found an open shot >> Tyler Ree with the ball up top Griffith Pick and roll. >> Oh, good shot. Good mid-range from Tamasi. >> Nate Tamasi. >> You know, this is interesting. I think Portsouth is one of the first teams I've seen that's really matched extern. We don't have as much of a height advantage as we usually have. [cheering] This is going to be a high energy game, coach. You see the Portsmith student section is absolutely packed. The extra ones completely packed. Both parents stands are packed. It This is going to be a high energy game.

006And you know, the nest is a hard place to play. >> [cheering] >> Reese with the ball up top. >> Cutter. >> Good defense from Tamasi. >> Age Griffith. >> Oh, can't get that. >> Good rebound by Tamasi, but he's tied up. Jump ball. Arrow points to Exiter. >> Good defense there by Tamasi on the other end. And good job, Ty. He did a He made a very nice play to Gee. Good pass in between defenders. Ooh. Ah. Can't quite get to go. >> It hit the support. >> Can't quite get to go. That support wire is out of play. The ball hits at it will not count. Reese inside [cheering] number one. >> Good ball movement for Portsmouth early. They're finding the open shot in the zone. Uh just quite just can't quite hit

007it. >> Tough shot. >> You know what I would say this? The Blue Hawks are doing a good job of limiting Portsmouth to one shot at the basket. >> Exactly. Yep. >> Exit now in a 3-2 zone. They're doing a great job of minimizing the double the two opportunities or more. And you know, it's that's a huge part because you can't make every shot. You got to be able to get the rebound, get that second opportunity. >> Turnover. >> This exit their defense, man. It's already looking like it's for real. >> You know, I will say this. Portsmith is uncomfortable attacking a zone. >> Exactly. >> They want to play manto man. They want you to play manto man where they can run and gun and >> and you know we saw in the Salem

008game we we couldn't praise Coach Holmes anymore for how good him and the Hawks are at executing his zone. So when you have a team that you know is that does better when you play manto man and you're a great team at executing the zone. It's a it's a perfect matchup for you. So we'll see how Portsouth adjusts. But Portsmith ball movement is great. They're getting open shots. It's just I don't think they're getting the shots that they like to take. >> And uh we'll see how they adjust. But man, Exer's defense, it looks for real right now. >> Exiters ball. >> I think that was a good timeout there by Portsmith's coach. You know, it helps get time get his kids a little bit relaxed. Rem. Oh, that's going to be out on Portsmith.

009Good job by Ag there not going for the ball, letting it roll out. Ty, see what he's got here. Timido for three. >> Oh, good rebound control by Tamasi. >> Oh, nice block. I believe that that was number zero Finn Makuli. Balls inbounded by Ree up top to a good job finding the open guy. That right there, that's why he's a quarterback in football. Can always find the open guy. >> Tibido again. >> Good rebound by Toamasi. >> Shot. >> Tamasi, man. He's dominating the boards right now [cheering] again in that 3-2 zone. >> High pass. Oh, a so close. Nice defense by Tibido there. Foul called on Portsouth. Nice job by Tibido there. Good defense. Isaiah Reese, man, he's not a he's not an easy guy to stop from scoring. He's averaging almost 20

010points a game. Number 55, Lamaport is in the basketball game. >> Good hustle. Good hustle from both teams. They're going to be tangled up here. That's Portsmith's ball, I believe. >> It is good hustle by both guys, but man, weap good job. Force a turnover. Wait a part. Excuse me. >> Oh, DEEP SHOT. WOW. REESE. >> WOW. >> A deep three, man. Portsmouth on the scoreboard. 73 right now. About halfway through the first quarter. >> I don't know if Tomasi could have played better defense on that shot. I thought he maybe got hand on too. >> Tamasi, nice save. >> Nice play by Tamasi there. Good hustle to grab the ball and throw it off of uh Lima Park. >> Good screen. Step back from Tawim. Oh, can't quite get it. >> Going to call

011foul on a ghee there. >> Yeah. >> Foul on number four. That's his second. >> Second foul on a ghee. Number 11, Jackson McDonald in the game for Tyler Re. This right now is an X of their game. lowscoring defense, >> but we'll see what Portsmouth can do. >> Exit has switched to a man. [cheering] [applause] >> Good defense from Tamasi. Nice rebound by Schwarz. Can't quite get the second effort to go. Good rebound by Ye. Exctor right now controlling the boards. That's that's key right now. Oh, nice move. >> McDonald taking it to the hoop. Foul on Fola. >> Oh, the Clippers number one into Fola. That's his second team. >> His second. >> Jackson McDonald, man. >> He checks in and he just immediately is high energy. Nice spin move right there. Last

012game he scored 10 points in the fourth quarter alone. He can get it done. >> Damen Su Senu is in the ball game for Fola. >> And I see number 12, Michael Burke getting ready to enter the basketball game. [applause] >> Michael Burke's going to be coming in for a Ye. >> Well, he's got two fouls. You don't want him to pick up his third, >> especially this early and especially it being a Tyne both being out right now getting some rest. A ghee you need in that late game. We saw it against Salem. [applause] >> Exit back in a man Reese. >> Nice job by Ree. Good job finding his spot. He has all of Portsouth's points right now. Oh, good steal by Lamb by Lampart. And that's going to be Portsmouth Ball. Physical

013game right now. It's definitely a physical game. It is 95 with 226 to go in the first quarter. Reese just walking the ball up the floor. Good cut. Good cut there. That's Derek Schwarz. He himself's averaging 14.5 a game. Tamasi with the foul. >> Derek Schwarz at the line and shooting two. [applause] >> Nick Meyers in the game for Jack Tibido. >> [cheering] >> hits them both. McDonald swing it down here. Burke looking for Huxley, it looked like. >> Yeah, they're doing a pretty good job of of uh >> taking Huxley Brown out of the game right now. >> Can't quite get the rebound. >> [applause] >> Excellent. >> Yeah, Hudson, he's been quiet in this first quarter. Uh Portsmith clearly is zeroing in on him on offense. >> They are. They're doing a good

014job denying him the basketball. >> Yeah, and he likes being in that post. There you go. GOOD JOB GETTING OPEN. NICE, >> Dley Brown. That right there, that's why they're trying to keep him out of the game. But he did great job there. Caught the defense sleeping and got open. Good close out by Tamasi. >> Rebound by Meyers. McDonald brings the ball down the floor. [cheering] >> This extra crowd is loud. [applause] be patient. Get the shot that you want. >> Yeah, they're doing a lot better job about that in uh this game than they did against Salem. I think a lot of that was just first game jitters, but they're taking their time. Tough shot. Good job by 13. That's Senu getting his hands on the ball while he's going up. Good job drawing

015the foul on the other end. >> Foul was on Burke >> Senu. I I saw him get his hand on Tamasi shot. He did a great job there. active hands. >> Actually, Tamasi looks gassed. >> Yeah, >> I think they've got I think Tibidos coming into the game for him. >> Yeah, I think I think he's he's been hustling up and down the court the entire game. It seems like he played the entire first quarter. That can be exhausting. He was a lot. He's uh him and Huxley both taking a seat. >> Johnny Gillis is in the game for Huxley Brown >> and I believe Tibido, right? He came in. >> Tibido for uh Tamasi. Two foul shots by Senu. 129. Let's see. Does exit to hold for the last shot or >> good defense

016from Ree, but they're going to call a block. >> Yeah. No, you can't keep bumping him like that. Is first >> and number two, >> Raymond Plant, >> Tyler. >> No, Tyler back in the game for uh >> Michael Burke. Ree 28 seconds here in the first quarter. >> Ree can shoot so I wonder if they are bringing him in for a possible last shot. >> 10 seconds. We got plenty of time here. Find the shot. Oh, good play by Schwarz. Oh, good move. That was a euro step. It was a euro step and a half. >> The sophomore man, Derek Schwarz. >> Way to bring your crowd into the game. >> Score at the end of the first quarter. The Exit Blue Hawks 12, Portsouth 11. >> Nice play there. He knew they wanted

017Ream on that play. He was honing it, honing it, waiting for waiting for the pass. Second it came, jumped it. Good job there finishing it at the end. >> Well, Tim, what are you seeing here in the first quarter >> right now? I think the offenses are starting to come alive. They're starting to find their way through these defenses. But both defenses, not just exit, Portsmith 2, are both doing a great job of standing their ground and not giving the offense any easy shots. They're you're starting to see buckets here and there, but a lot of them I feel like have been off um rebounds where the guy's open, puts it up quick or right there, you saw Derek Schwarz, he made his own easy break, he gets a turnover breakaway. So, you know, the

018defenses are doing their jobs. This game is going to come down to whose offense can get it going. Whose offense can find the holes in the defense. We'll see. >> Tibido. Whoa. >> Just a little too high for Huxley there. Okay. exit back in the zone. Once Griffith comes in, they feel more comfortable going to the the zone. >> Yeah. And I think a lot of it is his his quickness and his ability to just kind of starfish everywhere. >> He has a great job of using his legs to block any passing lanes. with the miss. Age with the rebound. >> Reese understands he's not going to get a lot of separation and the most separation he gets is from those long threes. So, he does take a lot of long shots, but that's the

019only chance he he gets to get open. So, don't blame him there for taking that shot. Oh, long pass. Good pass. >> Oh, it's like off the foot. [applause] >> Off the foot of Lamb of Lambert. McDonald walking the ball up. >> Oh, tried to find Huxley. Miscommunication there. >> That's what happens though if you leave your feet sometimes to pass. >> Nice job by Schwarz there too to finish. >> Very nice job. with the ball. >> Green with the ball. >> Good pass inside. >> TOUGH SHOT from Hunsley Brown. Oh my god, >> man. [cheering] It doesn't matter how many people you put on them, he'll find a way to make those tough shots. Oh, nice ball. Nice um handles there. >> Nice steal from Re. >> And great anticipation there by Tyler Re.

020>> Good job finding the open guy, too, to save the ball and save the turnover. But real quick, Isaiah Reese had great handles on that offensive possession. Nice pass, Huxley Brown. >> Huxley Brown. Huxley Brown, man. [applause] >> [cheering] [cheering] >> Nice shot. Oh, and one three from Lampart. Wow, what a shot. Way to make that through contact. >> Looked like he even swished that. That is That is a crazy shot. follows on. Tibido is first and we have number 22 in the game for Portsouth. Jacob me is in for Isaiah Reese. [cheering] >> Nice job capitalizing. >> Portsmouth grabs their first lead. 1716. Tamasi mid range. Oh, in and out. >> Good shot right there. Just in and out. >> Oh, NICE MOVE FROM SCHWARZ. OH, TAMASI. >> Let's see who they call that

021foul on >> Tamasi. his second. >> I thought that was a clean block right there. That would have been huge. Derek Schwarz, man, he's he's been a he's been great tonight with the [cheering] steel on one end. He's been great on defense and he's been great on offense. He's been he's been doing a good job of creating his own open shots. Travel >> [cheering] >> Good defense there by number zero Moli. [applause] Oo, >> good defense from Exer here. Nice closeout defense from Huxley under the basket. That's a tough guy to guard Moli. He's right there with Tibid though at 6'7. So nice pass from Senu. Bang. Finds the open guy. 22 me three-pointer. Timeout. Exit. >> Good job. We're starting to see Portsmith's offense break through this exit defense. [cheering] >> That was a

022good shot. That was a good job there by Senu on the inbound pass to find the open guy and get the open shot. 2216 is the score. Portsouth has moved ahead. We're about halfway through the second quarter. >> Tim, what do you think uh Exiter needs to do offensively? I think we're not getting enough shots. We're turning the ball over without it getting a shot at the basket. >> Yeah, I think we're having too many possessions where we don't get a shot up. And you know, right now I think we're str we want to find the inside guy. You're seeing them. They're trying to pass it to Huxley Brown, Nate Tamasi, and Jack Tibido on the inside, but Portsmith is doing a great job a great job of blocking the passing lanes and making these

023passes difficult. And it's tough, man. I mean, they want to get inside. They're not getting it. They're trying to force insides, creating turnovers. You know, you only have two guys who are staying outside of the inside. So, it's tough. It's It's definitely difficult for them to score right now. Portsmith's playing amazing defense. Good job by Schwarz there. Good defense. He's only a sophomore, man. He is good. And I guess they have an a brother who's an eighth grader who is equally as good. >> Man, Ryan Ryan Schwarz, the senior, you know, he's good himself. And now you got Derek Schwarz and apparently an eighth grader, too. Man, that's Schwarz family. jump ball and the arrow points towards sports. >> I think ex right now we're playing a little too fast pace. We're getting a little

024bit too ahead of ourselves. We need to slow it down a little bit. We just need to collect ourselves. That's the biggest thing. They're a little uncomfortable right now and we just need to collect ourselves. Nice pass from Lampart. Nice shot from Derek Schwarz, man. Derek Schwarz off the cut. Ty for three. Oh, can't quite get. Tamasi, good job on the rebounds. Huxley. Bang. >> Huxley Brown. Three-pointer. He right now, I'm pretty sure he's 100% from the field. I don't think he's missed a shot. Out of the bounds. Turnover for Smith. Good shot there by Huxley. And uh Derek Schwarz just stepped out of bounds. >> 24/19. Exiter kind of broke a dry spell there with that basket by Huxley Brown. >> We'll see if Exer can take uh take advantage and capitalize off this

025turnover and get some momentum in their direction. But nice tip pass FROM LAMPARD. >> OH, TAMASI. OH, THEY CALLED A FOUL. >> That's three on Tamasi. That's tough. I thought that was a clean block. >> Ref saw a little bit too much contact. >> Meyers going to commend the game for Tamasi. >> I think no. >> Oh no. >> Oh, looks like they're going small ball. >> Raymond Plant for Tamasi. And uh Ryan Schwarz just checked in for Senu for Portsouth. >> Missed the free throw, but good job by Ryan Schwarz getting his brother's miss. [cheering] Good job by Makoli to get open. Oh, shot from me. They're going to call that over the back on Macaulay. Little too strong from me. Isaiah Reese in the game for me. Tyler Ree >> getting e exit

026in their offense. >> Oh, good. >> Immediately doubles the ball. >> Good hands from Makoi. FORCED THE TURNOVER THERE. OH, RAYMOND PLANT. [cheering] >> What a steal. They got five on four. A Oh, can't get to go. Good hustle from the Hawks here. A GETS IT. GOES. OH, [screaming] WHAT A BLOCK from a goalie. DEREK SCHWARZ. OH, [screaming] HE WENT FOR THE DUNK. He gets the layup. >> He gets the layup, though. >> That's a momentum play right there. Looks like he came up a little limp though on that knee. Oh, Ryan Clark playing or not Ryan Clark, sorry, Ryan Schwarz playing some great defense on Tibido. >> TIBIDO. GREAT CUT AND GREAT EYES from Age right there. >> Good pass by Age. Timido Portsouth. Ae with a steal. [cheering] He settles for three. Oh,

027>> and they're going to call foul on Portmith. Probably should. >> Great steal right there. >> Great steal. I like him taking the shot. They were going to let him shoot. >> They think he's not really that much of a three-point shooter, but great shot right there from McGee. Couldn't get to go, but good rebound by Ree there. >> McDonald's going to inbound the ball. >> Age is open. He shoots it. Oh, good job from Tibido. Oh, the ball's loose. A controls it. Slow it down here. Find the good shot. HUXLEY FOR THREE. OH, just can't get it to go. Exit just struggling to find the bottom of the net. This is a lot of what we saw from Portsmouth in the first quarter. Oh. Oh, he didn't mean to. Yeah, he didn't mean to

028do that. [cheering] Tempers flare. But I think Raymond Plan was actually trying to make sure Derek Schwarz was safe. I think Derek Schwarz was just a little heated. I don't think there was a lot of animosity there. But Raymond Plant, it's just a little bit of a miscommunication. Raymond Plant would just bring him down safely, trying to make sure he didn't hit the ground too hard. And Schwarz thought was a little excessive. >> Kylo back in the game for Raymond Plant. Senu also checking in for Lambar for Lampard. 25 seconds to go in the first half. Good handles from Macdonald. Good defense from Portsouth here. Schwarz. Oh, he gets a layup to go. Good first half from Schwarz here. We got two seconds. Good shot from Huxley. He draws a threepointer foul. Wow, that's huge.

029>> Certainly is. Less than a second to go. 8/10 of a second. >> And that foul is on Schwarz. Shoot. It's been a very physical first half for both these teams. Very physical. It's been tough for both these teams to get going. >> Yeah. >> Well, you know, I don't think there's any love loss between the two teams. >> No, >> this is the most points that Exers let up in the first half by far with Portsmouth scoring 31. 3121 right now. >> Huxley Brown has one more. >> Oh, can't quite get to go. All right, >> at the half, >> Portsouth 31, exit 22. >> Definitely an interesting first half. >> So, give me your thoughts on the first half. >> I'm right now I think I think Portsouth has found their offense right

030now. They found the way to beat Exit's defense and a lot of it is just ball movement. Quick, don't hold the ball for too long. just pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass till that you get that open shot and then shoot it pull up you know hopefully hit the shot they understand that they cannot get a lot of rebounds against exer with the twin towers and Tamasi and Tibido and then Hudley himself being at 6'4 so they're really honing in on getting a good first shot where they can make it and not have to rely on that rebound and their defense their defense has been absolutely dominant in that second quarter there doing a great job of holding extra to only 10 points in

031the quarter and man it's just feels like exit is a little little too amped up. They understand it's a big game. The crowds are at the both student sections are packed. the sta the stands are packed and I think it's just a little hard for them to settle down and you know sometimes I think you know Age had that turnover they forced and then he shoots a three good shot just they can't quite follow up and they can't quite find that open shot and um you know they're struggling to get under the basket and that's where they're really successful is Huxley Brown we saw it against Salem getting close to the basket backing a defender down and hitting the layup up or Jackson McDonald getting a layup, stuff like that. They're not really a three-point

032shooting team, but Portsmith's making them shoot three-pointers. >> Well, you know what's happening, too? Exit is getting too many possessions without a shot. >> Yeah. >> Too many turnovers. And what's happening is they are doubling. When the guard picks up his dribble and he's not in the middle of the floor, they're doubling up on people. >> Yeah. >> And we're not able to pass over and the rest of the team is overguarding to take away that pass. >> Yeah. And a lot of it a lot of it is they don't just do a great job of double teaming right away. The way they double team, the way that second guy comes in, and the way the first guy is guarding the guy with the ball, you saw it with Ty a couple of times. They're

033blocking any pathway he has to pass. Um, I saw a play over here where Ty had the ball. Nate Tamasi's guy, Nick Tamasi was in the paint and the guy on Tamasi was coming to double team Ree. Ree looked for the pass, but right away the guy was filling the gap that he was leaving and he couldn't make a pass without, you know, turning the ball over and he ended up having to pass to someone else. But right there, that's a great job. They do a great job of kind of filtering into a zone almost when they do double and making sure that Tamasi isn't left alone. He can't move. But we've seen some success right now from Exer. We had Tibido made a great great cut and AI made a great pass. You got

034to get more of that. It's all going to be about you can't be standing still on offense because right now Portsmith that's what they're counting on. They're counting on you stay in place so they can guard you. You got to keep moving. Kind of like Portsmouth's offense in the first half in the first quarter. >> The other thing is you got to screen the man, not the area. >> Exactly. Got to get tight on the screens. >> That's right. So that way when you you screen often enough, you lose track of who you're guarding. >> Yeah. >> Well, we're going to uh take a break here and uh we'll be back when we get ready for the second half. Right now, 3122 Portsouth. There you go. Push. Stop it. about it. Come on. ball. [cheering]

035Uhoh. Uhoh. The ball. What's that? Come on. Come on. >> [cheering] >> Come on. Come on. Here we go. We're back. Fire. Our world number is 8532 here. United 37. 21 uh 22 to 31 Clippers favorite and um it's a great defensive game. Uh both teams have a combined 16 turnovers, which is a lot to see. Great rebounding by the Blue Hawks as they've only let up about one or two shots at the most per possession. Getting on that board, getting good box outs, clearing out the defenders. Uh right now, Derek Schwarz is looking great. Derek Schwarz currently has 15 points after the first half. And on the Blue Hawks, their leading score is Huxley with 11. We'll see if they incorporate them the two of those players into more of the offense the second

036half of the game or if they try to get some of their other players like um a ghee a ghee to get some more shots. Um he's looking great out there. He's getting great attempts. Yeah. So really excited to see how it comes out with this. >> Yeah. Uh I would I would agree with you, man. I I noticed right away. Derek Schwarz, he he came up huge um in that second quarter specifically. I'm not sure if you have his second quarter points, but I felt like that second quarter in in particular, he was all over the place. >> Indeed. Indeed. Uh Derek Schwarz, he made every single one of his free throws. He went um six for six in the first half. >> Wow. >> Which is a great percentage for a big guy

037like him. It's definitely hard uh as a uh taller longer arms span to be shooting those free throws. Great job on that. You know, Huxley, we've we've been talking about how Huxley's been struggling to get uh open and Portsmith's defense is really honing in. Do you have how many do you have his uh shot percentage or >> uh No, no, not currently. >> Do you uh do you know how many shots he's made? >> Uh he's made like four or five. He's made uh a couple of threes, I think. Two, and then he had those three free throws at the end. and he has like he's probably one or two misses he's he's doing a >> pretty consistent so far. >> Yeah. Yeah. And they're doing a good job of limiting him. That's what I've

038really noticed. >> They're putting uh their best defenders on him and it's really keeping him from getting most shots that he'll get in normal of the games. >> Okay. Well, there's the buzzer. Thank you, Carson, for the uh statistics. And uh I see Griffith, Ree, Tamasi, Brown, and Tibido in the ball game for the Blue Hawks. Green. >> Huxley Brown. >> Oh, can't quite get to go. No, >> man. That would have been awesome if we was just speaking about Huxley Brown and his importance and he hit a three. That would have been great timing. >> Okay, the Blue Hawks are coming out in their 131 zone pressure. >> Now, we haven't seen this yet from from Exer. Last game we saw him in the 122. Now they're in the 131. >> Oh, Tamasi tipped

039the ball. That's >> good pass from Huxley. >> It's nice when you have a big guy. Yeah, >> I thought there might have been a little bit of contact on his wrist, but good job from Tibid though. Tamasi is a tough guy to pass over like you were saying. >> Yeah, >> especially when he gets those hands up. >> Yeah, >> and he is man, he is steal. [cheering] >> Great job here. Come out at half, >> man. Tamasi, we've seen we've seen times where he's looked tired, but he does not care what his body says. He is willing to dig deep, dig deep, and continue to dig deep to make sure this XR team can succeed. That is awesome to see. >> Okay, Tamasi with back to the basket here. Little pushing >> for

040all the other stuff that caught calling. They're not calling that. >> Nice shot there from McGee. you know, can't quite get to go. [cheering] >> Oh, tough rebound. >> Rare miss from Derek Schwarz. >> OH. OH, NATE TAMASI. >> OH MY GOD. BRING THAT ENERGY to I think he's a little too tired to celebrate, but man, he just does not let up. some run all the way up the court. Grab that rebound. >> Awkward angle for the shot. Great job with contact >> makes the foul shot. Blue Hawks come out once again in that 131 zone trap. [cheering] Oh, don't let him split. Quick run here from Exit. >> Isaiah Reese limping. It's been a physical game. >> Fouls on deep on Tamasi. Meyer into the game. >> Nate Tamasi, by the way, that was

041his uh third and fourth free throw on the other end. He's got seven points. >> Okay, Meyer's in the game. Blue Hawks now in half court man. >> Oh, good shot. Good shot from Maui. >> McCaulay. Finn McCaulay. I'll be interested to see on Xer's next uh basket if they stay in that 131 with Tamasi out but Meyers in. I'll be interested to see what they do. >> Re >> finds Huxley. >> They find Huxley Brown. Oh, nice job from Myers keeping it in bounds. >> Ty, tough shot. Oh my god. >> Here we go. 131. >> I think he was I think Re was looking for a little bit of contact and there was It was a tough shot to make, but good job making it through contact. Oh, can't quite come up with

042a steal, but Age. Oh no. Oh jeez. Oh man. Age was laying AI was on the ground in the lane and I'm hoping he's not too hurt. looked like he couldn't quite get up originally. >> Well, he's okay. >> Good job. Tough. These these two teams are so incredibly tough. They have been This has been a physical game. >> I don't know who, but Well, I don't know who committed the foul, >> but >> they called the foul on uh Tyler number two. Did they? Fola at the foul line makes the first. Age coming out. >> Yeah. >> See McDonald in the game. >> A is going to need a break. That was kind of a tough play for him. >> What looked like to me he maybe landed awkwardly on his ankle and then

043obviously there's a pile up on him. So Good cut from Ree. >> See who he can find. >> Oh, good screen from Tibido. Ty open. Not quite though. Good defense from uh Feroa. Good defense here from Portsmouth. Exer cannot find anything. >> Huxley though using his strength. Can't quite get it to go. >> Nice dribble. >> Oh by Schwarz. >> Nice defense from Huxley there. >> They call foul on Huxley. Derek Schwarz to the line. back towards the line shooting. >> 3529 halfway through the third quarter. He misses one. [cheering] makes one of two. >> McDonald bringing the ball up. >> Nice shot from Tibido, but good rebound from Huxley. Draws a foul. I believe that's on Schwarz. We'll see who they call it on. >> Yeah, number five, Derek Schwarz. That's his third. >>

044Huxley's second trip at the line today. >> I think Exit's approach right now has to be to draw fouls, try and get this Portsmith defense to not let up on their own because they're not willing to do that. So, you got to make them let up by making them have to play a little less aggressive by being in that foul trouble or worrying about foul trouble. >> Referees taking their time right now and uh drying up the floor when bodies are going down. >> Yeah, >> it's warm in the gym. >> So warm. Huxley Brown makes the first. [applause] Has a chance to cut the lead to five. Huxley's wiping his hands on Nick Meyer's jersey. Make sure he can [applause] get a grip on that ball. >> Okay, Blue Hawks no longer in the

045zone. Trap now in man. [cheering] They drive on Schwarz. OH, GOOD BLOCK FROM TIVID THOUGH. But good job from Schwarz getting his own miss. >> Nice shot from Schwarz there. He did not give up. >> Ryan Schwarz with the basket. JACKSON MCDONALD TOUGH ONELEGGED JUMPER. MAN. Hall of Fame acrobat right there. >> Schwarz with the ball. >> You know, so far the Blue Hawks have done a pretty good job on Ree. >> Yeah, absolutely. They're making every single shot he takes tough. Good job by Fola there not giving up. He grabbed his own miss and put up a good shot. One of the rare sights of Exer giving up more than one shot. But yes, you I mean he averages we're only two games into the season, but he's averaging almost 20 a game and

046he scored a thousand career points as a junior. They are doing a great job at stopping him. I'm not quite sure. Uh how many points does Isaiah Reese have? >> Only five points for Ree. That is huge. We've obviously seen that they've focused on recent Derek Schwarz has been able to take advantage, but with Schwarz nearing foul trouble, they got to find another guy. And I think they're looking for Ryan Schwarz to step up here. >> Good pass from Schwarz to Senu. >> Age playing great defense. >> Age is back in the game. probably just needed a little break after a tough fall. >> Tight defense from Ree giving him no breathing room. >> Good shot from Senu. Three-pointer brings the lead back up to 10. McDonald bringing the ball down the floor. >> You

047know what I really like to see from Reese's? Oh, tough shot from Tibido. You know what I really like to see from Reese is he's not just an offensive guy. He's willing to play defense. They call a offensive foul. [cheering] Interesting foul there. They're calling that on number one push off Barola. But like I was saying, Reese is not one of those guys who just tries to play offense, scores points, and get his offers. He's willing to play offense, score, but then he's willing to come back and work even harder on defense. You're seeing him guard the ball a lot when it comes to Ree and Macdonald, and he does a great job. [applause and cheering] A gets open, gives it to Huxley. Oh, good pass from McGee. Tough shot from Huxley there. Quick close

048out. Oh god. That is their second and one threepointer of the game. And the foul is on again. Yeah, that was huge. That you can feel the shift in energy right there, man. He popped right up and was fired up. Feroa, great shot. >> Well, you know, uh, we just Huxley Brown just asked to come out of the game and just left the gym. So, I don't know if he hurt himself on that. And then with a Ge getting the foul, I believe that's his fourth. >> Yeah. Um, that's his his fourth foul. Yeah. So he's >> So right now the Blue Hawks have to stem the tide here. If they don't, they're going to get Portzmouth's going to build an insurmountable lead. >> And you know, >> they need to control the tempo of

049this game, >> slow it down, get themselves back into single digits behind. >> And you know what they also have to do or you know what Portsouth is making them do? He is back in the game. >> Oh, wow. That's interesting. Oh, >> he's he might be at three fouls. There might have been a foul earlier that we thought was on him that they called earlier. That's what I'm being told by Curtis, the stats guy. >> Um, but yeah, man. I talked about what Exer need to do, getting Portsmouth in foul trouble, making them have to slow down on defense and be more cautious. And right now, Portsmith's doing that to exit. Xer can't be as aggressive and jumpy as they normally are on defense. Huxley re-enters the gym, but yeah, it's it's been a

050great game here from Portsouth. Exer's done a good job this game, but Portsouth, man, they're starting to dominate. This is why they're the number one team. >> Up top, no good. Fola has eight points right now. >> Senu. Uh-oh. Little pusher. Oh, good pass. >> Good shot from Senu. Can't get to go though. Good block out by Rain >> Gillis, by the way. Checked in for Hustley Brown. >> Oh, good. They called that foul, I believe. >> Number 55. That's on Xavier Lemaport. Johnny Gillis will get two shots at the line. >> First one's good. >> Raymond Plant coming in for a Griffith. >> 7 seconds to go in the third quarter. The Blue Hawks trailing by 13 can cut it to 12 with this second free throw. And they do. Senu. He wants to

051take it to the hoop. Nice. >> Nice shot. Good job there. He noticed the exit defender looked up at the clock to see how much time was left and he took he he noticed that second, hit the gas, came right through and good layup right there. Exer came out of the half extremely explosive. Extremely explosive. They cut the lead down and then they slowed down. They lost momentum. That block shot from Moli absolutely swung the momentum. And you know, Ports has it all. We'll see if Exer can come out with that same momentum that they came out of halfway to come into the fourth quarter cuz they need it right now. Down 14. And you know, Portsmith has not had a game decide by less than 19 points this year. They're a great team. Great

052offense. >> Well, you know, and a very good defensive team also. >> Yeah. Yeah. And you don't see that a lot from offensive teams in high school. They're they'll be in all these highscoring games. Portsmith actually is coming off of a win against Bishop Girtton where they beat them 81- 46 or uh sorry 44 um uh to 54 sorry but man they they are a great team overall. They can score high points. They'll hold you to low to you know not scoring a lot. It's this is a great team. Okay, >> Clippers have hit 14 three free throws to Axelers's eight me for three. >> Joiner by me against the zone. >> A geese staying in the game for three-pointer. Huge answer right back. [cheering] >> Blue Hawks in that 131 again. Tamasi back in

053the game. Holmes kept Oh, nice job from Senu cutting getting through the defense. >> We saw Holmes give Tamasi a good break. Oh, that's going to be over and back. >> That's [cheering] right. >> Yeah, good job from McGee there not touching the ball. He did a good job at diving at the ball. So, Senu dived for it, but he didn't touch the ball. And I think that's what Portsouth is arguing right now. They're saying, "Gee, touched it. A ghee touched it." But actually, he dove and kept himself from touching it, making Senu kind of protect the ball, but then end up touching it with his knee. See if Exo can score on this possession. This is an important possession here. Try and swing the momentum. They're doubling rain. Tamasi wow >> almost gets it

054to go in and out >> by Maui. >> And you know who we're seeing check back in Derek Schwarz. Let's see what he can do this quarter. We'll see if Xer attacks him. Trying to get him to foul out. But he's gonna come in for I think Isaiah Ree, but he might just be by the bench. Nice shot from Tamasi. Yep. Isaiah Ree coming out. Schwarz coming in. >> Oh, can't get to go. They're going to call it Portsouth ball. I think a lane violation. >> Yeah, I think he was over the foul line too soon. >> Fullourt pressure now. >> Trying to force turnovers here. Schwarz to me. Me can't hold on but gets it to Senu. Oh, late whistle. They're going to call foul right there. >> Nate Tamasi picking up the foul

055there. Tamasi just fouled out of the game. >> Nate Tamasi, man, he gave this game everything [applause] he possibly had. He has nothing to hang his head on. He had eight points fouling out, man. That's just him giving his effort. He got a couple of tough calls. >> [applause] >> Good job from Tamasi tonight. If I was him, I would I would keep my head high. I know it's tough. You want to be out there with your guys, especially in a game like this where you're down and you want to help out. >> Senu delivers on both free throws. >> 5439. Senu's only a sophomore. >> Yeah, they are a young team. They are a really young basketball team. Derek Schwarz is a is a sophomore, too. Age can't get to go. Good rebound from

056Tibido. Draws the foul. That's going to be on Maui. That's going to be his third. >> Yeah. Third foul on McCauley. Tibido shooting two. Clippers calling a timeout here. >> Full timeout. >> We'll see what they do here. >> 5440 is the score. 6 minutes 6 and 12 minutes to go in the basketball game. What I've noticed from Portsouth right now is they are extremely good. And I think a lot of it comes from just their experience, uh, especially last year, but they're extremely good at playing with a lead. >> They know how to play with a lead and not get too a amped up, not turn the ball over and let you back in the game. We're seeing it here. They're giving up shots here and there, but then they're making shots, making it

057kind of feel like whatever you do doesn't matter. And, you know, that's a great basketball team. Exit. Th This has never been a team to just give up. It's It's never been a team it no matter what the sport is, if it's basketball, football, never a team to give up. I've seen them come back. Last year, you know, we had the game against Salem where they were down late. They came back. They're going to be a tough team to put away. So, Portsmith will have to do everything they can to protect this lead. We'll see what happens here. It's going to be a good end. Well, Tibido has one more foul shot. Can cut it to 13. >> And he does. >> 13-point game here. Need a couple of stops. >> Green picking up man-to-man

058fullourt travel. >> Travel on a Oh man. Exit has to capitalize on this possession. >> Absolutely have to. You got a turn over there. Got to capitalize. >> McDonald. >> JACKSON. OH, I think I can't tell if that was blocked by me or if it hit the rim, but that was a good shot. Uh, good layup from Jackson McDonald. Just can't get it to go. Senu. >> Oh, McDonald tried to get a defensive steal there. Me can't get the shot to go. Good rebound by Tibido. >> McDonald. Ooh, McDonald. Man, he's got some nice moves. Gets it out to Huxley who gets an open three. Oh, can't get to go. Oh, man. 55 Lampart. Good job securing the rebound. Bad pass from Derek Schwarz. A rare mistake from number five. Not many of those tonight.

059Like I said when we got to travel, we have to capitalize. We didn't capitalize last possession. We need to. We absolutely need to capitalize on Porsche Smith's mistakes. >> Hy Brown and they're going to call foul on 55. Lamb apart. >> Yeah. With a hold. >> One of the few times that Hxley Brown was able to beat his man to the spot inside and was immediately fouled. >> Yeah. And that's that is rare. We've seen Portzmouth done a great job making Huxley shoot a three-pointer. Huxley is comfortable shooting the three. We've seen it today. He's hit three-pointers, but he does understand his size. He's 6'4. He's a big kid. He's a, you know, he's a strong kid. He likes to get inside and play bully ball. And Portsmith has absolutely negated that tonight. Oh man.

060Trying to dry the court. They don't got enough towels in the building. Oh, a gee falls to the floor. He slipped, but he gets open BECAUSE OF IT >> AND HITS A THREE. >> OH, CUTS the lead to 10, man. He slipped and it got him open. Oh, Senu. >> Senu answers right there. That's what I'm talking about. You know, Exer starts to build some momentum. Portsmith shuts it down. >> McDonald And Tyrese's down. >> People just hitting the ground right now. Hunsley using his strength. Draws a foul. Tyler and Makoi look a little banged up after their feet got tangled. Man, they got to figure out this court situation. This is rough. They got they got to find all the towels in the building. Too bad we on like a swim team or like

061a swimming pool. But uh get some ties from there. >> Huxley Brown shooting two. >> Can cut it to 10 points. >> Did you get who the foul was on? >> I did not. >> Oh, good. It was tough cuz there was you had Makoli on the ground, you had Ree on the ground, so you had a lot of bodies on the ground. They called a foul on I believe I would if I were to guess it would be uh Lampart just because he's been guarding Huxley. >> Um and Huxley's at the line. So that would be my guess, but they could have given it. There's a lot of people in the area. >> [cheering] [applause] >> They got Ryan Schwarz in the game. They got Fwella in the game. >> Reese came into the

062game. >> Oh, Reese. Yeah, Ree, too. 11point deficit for Exit. Oh, good steal from McGee. LET'S SEE. OH, GOOD HANDS from Ree. >> Reese prevented a way up there. >> Yeah, I would have liked to maybe see um Gee wait for his guys, get some help, but you know, I I don't mind him. Oh, he's going to take an open three. Ah, can't quite get it. Rebound going to be off as a new >> Portsouth has great active hands. again. >> Oh, can't quite get to go. >> Reese bring the ball up. Good shot from Ree. Can't get to go. The rebound controlled by fora. >> Derek Schwarz. Who else [cheering] again? A rare moment where Exer gives up more than one shot. A possession cost them there. Oh, nice dribble from >> Oh, put

063some English on that Donald. Good follow up. >> Oh, that's an offensive bell on Maurice. >> Yeah, that [cheering] [applause] >> that was obvious. >> He likes his push off a little bit, but normally does a good job of keeping it close. but he's gotten away with it a little bit tonight. He does a good job of me of uh making sure it's legal and making sure he does a a legal kind of dribbling move. But, you know, he kind of clearly fully extended the arm on a ghee and a ghee did a good job making sure that the ref saw that one. >> You don't shoot on a player control foul. >> They double team from McDonald. Nice >> and Reese with the basket. >> Ryan Schwarz, good steal there. >> Well, again, you

064can't >> You got to dribble with a purpose, not just dribble. >> Oh, down goes Tibid though. It's It's unfortunate, too, because we've Oh, nice hustle there from Oh, Ryan Schwarz came up on Hudley Brown's ankle. >> [cheering] >> was on number two. >> Yeah, >> Ryan Schwarz. >> It's It's unfortunate for this game. Exer has made the stops defensively. They just haven't quite been able to capitalize because of Portsmouth's defense. >> 60- 47 score. >> With time starting to run out, it's it's definitely tough. >> McDonald Good pass. >> Huxley gets inside. Tough shot. Draws the foul on Ryan Schwarz again. 2 minutes 16 seconds to go. The Blue Hawks trailing by 13, but they're at the foul line shooting two. Can cut the lead to 11. You know, I've never seen so much

065drying of the floor in a high school game in my life. >> I know. It's definitely interesting. It's been a We know it's been a physical game all game, but I don't even know if these guys have been on the floor enough to cause that much, you know, drying of the floor. It's It's been crazy. I wonder what's been going on. Uh, Brown misses two. >> They're going to call that foul. Oh man. Yeah, they'll call that foul on Derek. >> Derek Schwarz. Play a control foul. That's his fifth. He is done for the game. >> Derek Schwarz has just fouled out. 18 points for Schwarz. He'll finish the game with almost 20. So, he had a very productive night. Just like Tamasi. Nothing to hang your head low on for fouling out. You did

066a great job all night. Finn McCauley in the game >> and once again drying of the floor. Tyloin with the basketball. >> Oh, Ae slipped again. Wild >> nice pass by Agee. Great to man. I love watching a ghee. He's He's so wild with the ball. He does a great job of making crazy shots and making crazy passes. He's he's a controlled wild. >> Portsouth going to hold the ball a little bit. They're going to draw the Blue Hawks out. >> Oh, steal from Huxley. [cheering] Who are they calling a foul on here? They call that on Huxley. >> Wow. >> Call a foul on Huxley there. >> Timeout Blue Hawks. Okay, we're a minute and a half to go. The Blue Hawks trailing by 11. That was interesting. I thought Huxley had uh full

067control of the ball, but they think he kind of got I think they think he ripped it from the guy and tough tough game for Exer tonight. They held they held Portsouth as much as they could. Eventually Portsmouth broke the seal. They found the way through Exer's offense. And you know what, Xer, they play a great defensive game or sorry, defense in that previous sentence is what I meant to say, but they play a great defensive game. Eventually, it came down to just Portsmith was able to to get through it. >> Well, you know, it I think it came down to turnovers. >> Yeah. >> And missed shots at inopportune times. >> Yeah. And I think, you know, like you said, exit, I think it was hard for their defense to keep up with some

068of these fast break opportunities that Portsmouth was getting. >> Turnover Portsouth. Nice play by the Blue Hawks doubling up on the ball. But yeah, like you said, we had some we had some shots that if we made it, it was uh it's a different ball game, but you know, they didn't fall tonight. You just got to use it for your next game. >> Ty, no. >> Just trying to get a three-point >> and foul on Huxley Brown. Blue Hawks in their press, 1211. >> You know what I really think took the wind out of the ex sales unfortunately was uh Tamasi fouling out and no longer being a being able to run that 131. They had a lot of success with it. >> Age just fouled >> and the ghee is done for the night

069as well. >> But you know what? It's it's early in the season. And you can't let this game affect the rest of the season. You just got to use it to motivate you. >> Portsouth though, they're the number one team for a reason. Shenu penetrates down the lane with a layup. [applause] >> Huxley Brown gets fouled. >> Number zero. McCauley. his fourth. >> Holmes here is going to empty out the bench. >> And so will Portsmith. 48 seconds to go. >> Great game here from both teams. Exit. They're, you know, they got stuff they got um they got stuff they can build off of. Portsmith continuing their domination that they've had all year. Again, another game that is decided between more uh within is decided by more than 10 points. Uh we'll see how it

070ends up finishing. But at the end of the day, this this game was just Portsouth came through. Portsmith was able to break the seal, and that's what was most important in this game. Number three, Beloon for three. >> [cheering] >> Johnny goes for mid-range. 6552. Oh, almost. All right, that'll do it. Good game. 13-point win for Port Force. Exer did score the most points I've been Oh, actually, I believe. Yeah. No. Uh, Bishop Gurn has the most points on this defense, but Exiter did a good job keeping it competitive with Portsouth. The most competitive that, um, teams have kept it with them this year. And you know what? It was competitive up until kind of that late fourth quarter where you know Exer kind of missed some shots when they were given an opportunity and

071you know stuff like that and I know you and me talked about our players of the game. >> Okay, player of the game for Portsmouth. >> Got to go with Derek Schwarz man. He had 18 points. He fouled out but it was a late foul. He was just dominant. He had steals. He was there on defense. He had breakaways. And uh you know on exit I think you know he didn't score the most amount of points but I'm going to go with Nathan Tamasi and >> you know great minds thinking like you know it was his he did it was his first start of this season. He came out he hustled. He his enthusiasm was contagious. He needed to stay in the basketball game. >> Yeah. So that's what he's got to do in the

072future is stay in the game so he can contribute the entire game long. >> Yeah. And you know I think it was tough. I think he played that entire first quarter got a little gas cuz he man when he's on the court he is all gashed. No breaks. He's diving for every loose ball. Crashing the boards. He's going off and you see him in the 131. He's jumping around making tip. He tipped like two passes man. He is he is we we have seen now twice for exit that it's not always the captains that are the players that stand out because the captains do almost what you expect of them. You know, Jack Tibido does a great job of rebounding and Huxley Brown does a great job of kind of controlling the team and helping

073the team through these tough times. And you know, it's people like AI who in that Salem game stepped up. Nate Tamasi tonight stepped up. The Hawks couldn't get done, but at the end of the day, Tamasi had a great game. >> And Carson, could you give us some final stats here? I mean, uh, yeah, for Portmith, I mean, most points, uh, by far for his team, Derrick Schwarz putting up 18. What an amazing, uh, game for the sophomore. And then on exit, uh, Huxley put up 15 in the zone. Um, good game for him. He got to the line a lot. He, uh, made most of his foul shots. Um, like my partners are here. I think Tamasi um not only putting up eight points, but I think his energy really helped out the team

074as like um a different like shifter. I think energy is just as much if you can get your team like ramped up and that one single charge that that one slip by a ghee into the three-pointer. It was just great energy shifters, but Portsmith had a lot of those too. And I think it really comes down to like um just the great defense and the great ability to stop uh most of the post plays as Tibido only at uh 10 today which is a little less than he usually has but really good game on defense by Portsmith. Um an outstanding game by both teams but Portsmith comes away with the win here. >> I agree they did. And the final score for the final time, the Exit Bluehawks 65, Portsouth, excuse me, the Portsouth Clippers

07565, and the Exit Blue Hawks 52. Well, we will be on the air Monday as the girls team tangles with the Pinkerton Astros. So, we hope you tune in. This is Bill Taylor, >> Timothy Hollister, >> Curtis, >> and Carson Curtis. There we go. [laughter] >> You got it. Say it. Come on. Carson Curtis. >> And we'll see you on Monday. >> Good night.
