Hey, >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. >> [music] [music] >> Heat up here. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. >> [music] >> Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. Heat. Heat. N. >> [music] [music] >> Hey, hey, hey, [music] Hey, hey, [music] hey, hey, hey, [music] hey, hey, [music] hey, hey, [music] Hey, hey, [music] hey, hey. [music] Hey, hey. [music] >> [music] >> Great there by [music] mano. [music] Heat. Good evening and welcome to Exit Bluehawk basketball. Tonight, the Exit Blue Hawk boys open their 2526 season as they take on the Salem Blue Devils. I'm Bill Taylor and I'm here along with >> Timothy Hollister >> and we're going to bring you tonight's game. >> Well, Tim, I know you've talked to some

people and you have some insights into tonight's game. How about some keys to a Blue Hawk victory? Yeah. So, I I talked to exer captain Jack Tibido before the game and he said that their keys to victory are going to be coming out strong, keeping that foot on the gas and utilize their size advantage with Tibido Brown and Tamasi and draw the defense inside, open up the perimeters on the outside, shooters like Tyler Ree, Jackson McDonald. So keep an eye on how these bigs act throughout the game and also keep in mind these bigs can shoot. Huxley has a good three ball. Tibs has a good three ball. So the size advantage is going to be key. >> Well, you know, and going over the rosters, this is the biggest team the Blue Hawks have

ever had. >> Yeah. Yeah. Uh you know, you got Tyler Ree who's one of their guards. He's at 61. You have Hubsley Brown is 6'4, Tibido and um Tamasi are both 67 and you know Nick Meyers 66. So they they got a lot of height on this squad and that's going to that's going to benefit them no matter who they play. >> It is because you can coach a lot of things but you can't coach size. >> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. Yeah. I mean Nate Tamasi last year I have vivid memories of commentating games or even just playoff games and he has a big block and like same thing with Tibido and just their pure size allows them to rebound the ball better and the big thing is is the guys who are smaller on this

team like Tyler Ree Age uh Jackson McDonald they're physical and they are and they're ready to go after the ball no matter where it is. They hustle. They they do everything. Every guy on this team doesn't have a a bad spot. They don't relax on any play. >> Well, that's that's a good sign. And talking to coach Holmes, he's told me they're kind of coming into this game a little blind. They have no scouting report on Salem. >> Yeah. >> Uh they had no film on Salem. They do know that Salem was fortunate enough to have a transfer from uh >> Central Catholic. >> Yeah. >> And they also have a uh a exchange student from uh Poland. >> Whoa. >> So, it will be interesting to see. >> That's crazy. >> I know in

years past the girls have had exchange students. Yeah, >> some have been good, but some have not been used to the American style of basketball. >> Yeah. And, you know, it was even I I even struggled a little bit in my pregame trying to find some things to talk about with Salem. But, you know, they did lose Brock James who graduated last year. He averaged 18 points per game. So, that's a big loss. That's a lot of scoring. But, Cooper Keenan, he's staying this year. He was their second leading scoreer. He averaged about 10 points a game. And you know, Exiter isn't without missing seniors with Nate McNap and Nick Greco both graduating. They both average 15 plus. So, both these teams are looking to find those next man up and trying to find those

guys who are going to take those roles. Uh, I will say Salem's looking to kind of set a new breed this year. Last year they went 8 and 11, but this year they're looking to show the world that they're a better improved team. >> And uh to make coach Holmes's job even more difficult, Salem has a new coach. >> Oh man, >> Sam Langden is the head coach of the Blue Devils. Well, we heard the buzzer. The warm-ups are about done. And uh we're going to hear the delit tones of Shermchester here in a minute. >> Well, you know, I don't know about you, but I've been looking forward to this game. >> Yeah. >> Anxious to get the season going. >> Me, too. I've I've been really I forgot um I graduated last year.

I completely forgot we got a new court. So, I walked in and it was a lot brighter than last year's court. So, I was a little thrown off, but you know, it looks nice and I think they're they're ready. Last year, they lost in the semifinals to Bedford. I think this extra team is okay to make a run, win the chip for coach Holmes. So, it's going to be I think it's going to be fun. So, and I want to remind everyone out there in TV land that we will be on the air next Friday as the Portsouth Clippers come to town and that should be an outstanding game also. >> Yeah. >> So, the starting lineup for Salem, number 11, Jack Maronei. Number 12, Kyle Olaflin. Number 20, Omar Ali. Number 13, Cooper Keenan.

And number three, Zach Sanmano. [applause] The exit starters, number two, Tyler Ree. Number four, Ae Griffith. Number 11, Jackson McDonald. Number 23, Captain Jack Tibido. And number 34, Captain Huxley Brown. Jerry Roers. >> And now, ladies and gentlemen, our national anthem. >> Please remove the performance of our national anthem tonight performed by Magna Bartell. Say [singing] by the dawn early. What so proudly [singing] we held at the twilight [singing] last gleaming who broad stripes [singing] and bright stars through the perilous fight [singing] over the ramparts We [singing] watch were so gallently streaming and [singing] the rockets red. The bombs bursting [singing] in air gave proof through the night that our [singing] flag was still there. Oh, say [singing] does that star spangled B. [singing] [singing] Or the land of the free and the [singing] home

of the brave. Great job by Magna Martell on the national anthem. >> Exiters coach, the head coach Jeff Holmes, assistants Tom Cudger, Chris Passimmore and Dave Ivory. >> Tim, you have anything you want to uh as we get ready for tap off? Anything you want to add? Yeah. Uh when I when I talked with Tibs before the game, I also asked him what does this game mean for the team? How important is it to, you know, set this new season off with this game? And he said, you know, this game, they want to put the league on notice. They have an aggressive defense that's dominant and they have a threatening offense. So, they're looking to to put the league on notice of that and show the league that just cuz Greco and McN, these two

leading scorers left, they're not taking a step back. They're taking a step forward. >> And the referees tonight, Jerry D. Rogers and Steve Burrow and the tap is away. Griffith has the ball inside. Oh man, basket by Huxley Brown inside. Will Hawks come out playing man. >> You're already starting to see some of the sides of Vans right there. Huxley had two defenders on him, but he knew he was bigger and just use his size, get inside and score that tough bucket. >> Nice block >> right there. Oh man, >> good start. >> And again, Huxley Brown >> taking over the game at the beginning. >> Two blocks in a row. [cheering] >> Tyler Ree the ball handler. >> A D Griffith. inside to Brown. >> Post up. No good. [cheering and applause] >> Seems

like they like that match up with Huxley on on uh 20 right there. [cheering] >> Cooper Keenan with the drive [cheering] on his first team. >> Did you get who the foul was on? Uh, >> I did not see I would guess that was probably Huxley Brown. He was on the playing defense on that >> one foul shot. No good. >> Good rebound there by Tyim. >> Jackson McDonald handling the ball. Oh, he takes it all the way to the >> Oh, nice. >> nice job. >> Jackson McDonald really good at finishing through contact. There's San German Keenan. >> Oh, nice block by Ge. Oh, [cheering] >> Tib though. That that length got him there. Guy comes up under him. Good thing he landed safely. Age made a great block on that. Looks like they're

calling the foul on Tibido there. >> Yes. >> 23. >> Two foul shots. >> Two early trips to the line for Salem here. >> Cooper Keenan missed the first one. [applause and cheering] >> Four to two right now as we've just started. >> 6 and 12 minutes to go in the first quarter. Both teams are in the feeling out process here. [applause] >> Looks like >> we had a lane violation. >> So it stays a 42. >> Salem is pressing man. >> Yeah, they're they like this fullcourt press. They want to kind of keep pressure on Jackson McDonald as he tries to bring it up, but that's going to draw a foul right there. >> Foul is on San German. three Sano his first two first >> McDonald's going to inbound the ball to Age

Griffith he can handle also >> nice three-point jump shot >> nice man he had Keenan there lost that was that was a great great ball movement great shot there you It was start dominant defense >> forcing a turnover. >> He certainly did. >> I said it to you before the game. He reminds me a lot of Marcus Smart. He is a great defender and when he's feeling himself, that three ball will be there. >> Okay. Ball is inbounded to Re. Tyler Ree bringing it up. If the name sounds familiar, he was a quarterback for the Blue Hawks in football. >> Foul. Alan number 12 >> Olaflin >> you know as you know from calling the football games took a huge jump as a football player. I think Xer basketball is looking for him to take

a similar jump on the court and I I have full belief in that kid. He's going to be as good as his potential. McDonald brings the ball up. [cheering] >> Oh inside to Divido. He came up short inside. [cheering] >> Foul on. >> Yeah. On McDonald. >> Well, you know, that's >> Jackson. >> They're third. >> Yeah. >> Three team fouls. >> Salem looks to be trying to attack the interior and draw fouls early and put kind of extra on their back foot. You see it with a fullcourt press. They're kind of trying they're trying to make extra work for every single step on offense and then on defense. They're trying to make these guys have to step back and play it easy so they don't foul out or get in foul trouble. >> Ali

makes missed both foul shots. McDonald over to rain handling the ball on the outside inside going to Brown. Nice move. Oh, [applause] >> nice drop step. >> Yeah, >> inside. >> Huxley, man, he knows how to use his size. He backed He backed Owie down and drew a foul right there. He almost had the and one. Just a little off. >> First one is good. [cheering] Eight to2 Hawks. >> Yeah, unfortunately for Salem, they've gotten three trips to the line, but they've only been able to capitalize on one. [cheering] So that's that's unfortunate for Salem. They're going to have to they can't rely on the free throw line to get them points in this game. They got to figure out something on offense besides that. >> The Blue Hawks playing tight man. Good shot. Number

01612. That was a Laughlin three-pointer. >> McDonald handling the ball. Number 11. [cheering] Jackson McDonald >> three-pointer. >> No good. Good rebound by Brown. >> Ooh, [cheering] have to pick it up over and back back court. [cheering] It's tough right now for Exo. They're they're leading, but they're having to work for everything. Every little thing they got to work for. >> Well, I you know, that's to be expected. I believe >> Salem's playing great defense right now. >> The give to Ali inside. He missed it. >> Follow by number three, San Jimo. >> Good job right there getting up, tipping it in. >> [cheering] >> inside to Brown. [cheering] >> Good shot selection from McDonald there. Just couldn't hit it. Ooh, number 12, Olaflin. >> That's already pointer. That's already his second three. >> 10

to nine, Salem jumps in the lead. Well, you know what, >> Tim? Exit's hand ball handling, >> they've got to go dribble with a purpose. >> Yeah. >> And they're not doing that right now. They're going side to side instead of penetrating towards the basket. >> Yeah. I saw, you know, AI had that good move where when he hit his three, he created space for himself, but right now they're struggling to use the dribbling skills. They they're great handlers. You saw it with Tyne, but Salem's doing a great job of not letting them use the dribble to create space for themselves. Say, you just got to credit Salem's defense. And, you know, Exer, I think they should go back to what the game plan was and begin to use that height to their advantage. You

got Tibido. Now you have Tamasi on the court with Huxley. So you got a size advantage. Go inside. Get some layups going. Get into a rhythm. Okay. Exit's going very big with Tamasi in that 66. Okay. Re is bringing the ball up nice and slow. Under control. cross screen. Tamasi >> baseline tipped in by Tibido. >> Good job right there using their size. Tamasi goes up for a layup and then uh Tibido follows it up with a tip. >> Exit in a 131 zone right now half court. >> Oh. Oh, you got to block out. >> Good second chance opportunity there from from uh Olaflin. Yeah, the weak side wing has to drop on that and and rebound >> and he didn't do it. >> Brown inside. >> Oh, >> play a control foul. >>

Good job there by Maronei drawing the charge there. And >> the Blue Hawks go even >> Salem student section making themselves hurt for these exter players. They are active right now. >> Meyers in the game. >> So they're they're going super big. >> 131 halfcourt trap right here. >> Good job by Meyers there. S that pass out of bounds. Michael Burks also coming in here for uh for Tibido. [cheering] >> I I think they're a little worried about Tibido getting into some foul trouble right now. That'd be my guess. Oh, missed the layup there. [cheering] Tyler with the ball. >> I like Ty slowing it down. Don't get too antsy here. Just try and get a good shot >> over to Burke. >> Oh, you can't leave Ree open. Nice rebound inside. Oh, Blue Hawks

two shot attempts in the lane. I like the shot selection right now from Exit. It's just got to got to let it fall. Turn over there by number 11 Maronei. Tamasi with the ball. Brown. >> They had the cutter. >> Oh, yeah. I was going to say I I thought that was a foul there. I saw him slapping the hands a little bit. Blue foul number 11 Maronei. That's his first. >> Maronei with the foul. >> He fouled Brown. >> Exers right now is running their offense. >> Yeah, screen down. One thing you do notice about Xer, they have a lot of height. The the height, the guys with the height are on the slimmer side. So, I think a guy like Huxley is important for this team and backing those guys down and he

gets a lot of that done. >> Jeez, [cheering] >> tough pass there by >> I don't know what they were thinking with that one. >> Number 11 in the game. >> It was getting a little >> That's McDonald. It was getting a little late I believe in the inbound just trying to get the ball off. >> Blue Hawks still in that 131 zone trap. >> Almost a steal there by Tomasi. Tough layup. >> Good rebound by number 12, >> Michael Burke. >> That's Burke. McDonald now handling the ball over to Meyers inside. Huxley Brown using his size. Good move. Easy. [cheering] They try and double team him as he goes up for the shot, but he's so good at that spin to give himself some space. Make a good shot. >> Travel. Good job by

the X defense there. Sub number five in the game for Salem. That's Brady Sako. >> He's coming in for Kenan. So that'll be interesting here. We'll see who's going to step up on the scoring side of the ball. My guess would be Olaflin or Sanaino. >> 50 seconds to go in the first quarter. 1312 Exit >> inside. >> Right back to Huxley. >> Here's Huxley Brown. He's got another one. >> You know, he's got that little ball fake to the >> to the middle of the lane and then he drop steps >> and it's all over. [cheering] >> Good rebound. That's a foul. 22 with the foul. [cheering and applause] That's Tristan Watenko. Huxley's got six already. He's He's been a bright spot in this offense right now. >> Michael Burke shooting two. 16. >>

Why is it? >> Second one is good. That makes it 1612. Blue Hawks with a four point lead. Number 10 in the game. That's Johnny Gillis again. The 131. >> Good. The layup there by 22. >> That's Meyers. Good shot. That's at the end of the first quarter. It's exit 16, >> Salem 14. >> Right now, I'm liking what I'm seeing on the defensive side of the ball from Exit. I'd like the offense to slow it down a little bit. I feel like sometimes they're trying to rush it on the defense side ball. I think um the box out, they need to box out a little bit better, but you know, it's first quarter, the first game. They're going to ease their way into it. And you know, they still have a two-point lead. They've

shown that they can improve throughout the quarter. So, I think I think it's been good quarter for Xer, but they have some improvement to make in that second quarter. >> You know what I thought is Salem showed some composure. >> They were in the process of getting run out of the gym. Exit was dominating inside. Salem came back, was patient, hit a couple of three balls, and got themselves right back in the game. >> Yeah. Yeah. I think once Exit got that lead, I think they got a little antsy and uh they kind of were more worried about what they could do instead of what they should do. And, you know, they figured it out. I think, you know, those substitutions, giving some of those guys a break and time to calm down and, you

know, get back to that mindset of what of what the game plan is, I think that helped them a lot. >> Okay, the Blue Hawks look like they're dropping back into their man. It's Salem possession on the possession arrow >> and number 10, Johnny Gillis guarding the ball. Good closeout defense there by Meyers. But [cheering] >> again, what they have to realize when you shoot the ball farther away from the basket, the rebounds tend to be longer. >> Yeah, >> you can't set up your box out too far to the back. Oh, how many steps are they going to [laughter] get? That was a It was a tough shot too by uh Win that Winenko. But >> okay, McDonald handling the ball. >> Good defense there by five, >> but he got called for the

foul. >> Yeah, that's Saco but foul on him. That original poke I think he I think was clean. I think when he tried to get his way to the ball, I think that's what they called the foul on. That's what it looked like to me. But he Salem's a great defensive squad. This new head coach has really set in a great defensive mindset for this team. >> Okay, McDonald handling the ball. >> Over to Gillis on the cut. Nice ball fake. >> Nate Tamasi. >> Tamasi. Nice ball fake. Got the man up in the air. >> And Nate laid it in. >> Nate Tamasi, he'll bring the energy. Any bucket he makes, any defensive play he makes, he will he'll bring the energy >> inside to Ali for the basket for Salem. Omar Ali, >>

good bucket there. It's not easy to score on these X of their bigs. >> Wide open. No, >> good shot selection. Just a little too strong on it. >> Ah, take the charge. >> Didn't do it. Fouls on number 11, McDonald. >> Foul Blue Hawks. Number 11, Jackson McDonald. That's his second team first of our lead. >> We see uh Hxley Brown coming into the game. And >> a D Griffith into the game. McDonald and Meyer are out right now. and Blue Hawks don't control the rebound. Number five. >> Oh, good job getting a rebound there by Ali. Oh, wa. [cheering] >> That was over and back. Good job by AI. >> Yes, it was. Wow. [applause] Keenan had kind of a rough possession there. I don't know if that was blocked by a ghee,

but he went to shoot it. It went backwards and then a ghee. Man, his pressure just forcing over over and back violation. Great job there. Here's Brown up top, >> Griffith. Back to Brown moving his way in. Nice job. [applause] >> He is just unstoppable right now when he gets to the inside. >> Gillis, >> good hands by Gillis there, bud. Good >> nice shot, Brady. Saco. >> Good job by Sako there. Got poked out by Gillis and Sako regained control and was able to make a good shot. Tyne >> Salem on the break. Uh, >> good defense there by Gillis, but Ali with the basket. >> Threeon one. Tough spot to be in. >> What's really hurting Salem right now is is their free throws. If they could have capitalized on a couple of

those free throws, they would have the lead right now. Good hands there by >> we got a jump ball and the arrow is pointing exit's way. >> So number three Raymond Plant >> in the game and Jack Tibido back in the game. >> Exor right now has to find the rhythm right now. They're trying to they're looking for it. They haven't quite found it yet. >> What's going on here? Okay, the referee just walked down and talked to the athletic director here, Coach Ball, and he's been directed to do something. >> Fouled on a threepointer. >> Foul is on Sako. Foul number five. >> That's a tough shot to to foul someone on. Now instead of a three-pointer, he's get three shots at the line. A did a great job drawing the contact in. Looks

like the ref might send coach ball over there to talk to the Salem student section. >> Griffith makes one of two. He was fouled on a three-pointer. one for three there for a ghee. >> Yeah. >> Travel by Kenan. [cheering] [applause] >> He disagrees with that call, but he dragged that foot and they're going to call that every time. You know, he his jump stop wasn't all that solid. >> Yeah. >> Here we go. Griffith handling the ball. Nice crossover. >> Ah, tough pass there by Tibby, though. >> Oh, Kenan. >> Good steal by Plant there. Kenan's have a little bit of rough of first half. I'll tell you right now, Raymond Plant, I'm loving his hustle right now. He's been all over the court since he's gotten in. >> Good defense there by Age.

Tough shot by Zenurmano. >> Okay, >> exit needs to get back into their offense. >> Yep. Ty slowing it down. Here's a screen across. >> Oh, nice move by Geck. >> Good defense there by Sako though to deny that pass. Tough shot by Tyrese trying to find that rhythm. >> Good defensive play by Keenan. >> Very good. Oh, the illegal screen number 11. >> Yep. They're going to call that every time. He moved in to hit a ghee and this tough. He's just trying to make a play for his team, but the refs are going to call that every time. is second. >> Age is never never too scared to put his body on the line for extra basketball. Last year in the Nashville South playoffs, he had a play where he dove on the

floor for a loose ball and he's been a great addition. He came in last year and he's he's been great for this team. >> Nice job by Brown was on Maronei. I think that's his third. >> Yeah, that's tough. Tough past couple of uh moments here for Salem. They've got about three fouls. They've had the kickball violation. They've had a turnover. >> Number 11. >> 22 back in the game. That's with Tenko. >> Yeah. He's going to come in here for >> Okay. What he's what the referee is telling them if they're going to sub, they got to get somebody to the table or else call a timeout. >> Yeah. Yeah. You can't just holler sub and expect the game to stop. >> Tough play there. Tamasi trying to make sure it wasn't a turnover

and ends up passing it to the other team. Good block by Huxley. [cheering] That's his third already. >> Very nice block. >> Good job moving his feet. >> Oh, good job, Tamasi. [applause] You know, when you're Nate Tamasi, when you drive in and use your size, it's hard for them to defend you. They can't just go up and block you like you can to them. So, they have to, you know, try and swat the ball and they end up swatting your arm a lot of the time. But, man, he moves great for a big man. >> Exit to foul shooting right now is >> Well, both teams have had trouble from the foul. say both teams have been struggling and it's cost them a lot of points. >> Okay, number 15 Meyer is in the

game. >> Meyers. Second one is good by Tamasi. Bluehawks are playing man. >> I think the man coverage has been working better than the zone. They've been definitely shutting down Salem's offense more with the man. Oh, tough bucket there by Winenko. >> Tyler entry to Meyers. Uh, see his first reaction when he got the ball was to dribble rather than to square. >> Oh, >> nice rebound. >> Rebound, Tamasi. Tamasi. >> Oh. [cheering] Oh, nice job by a ghee there. >> Calling it exit ball. Good job. He put his hands up, blocked the Salem player. That's number three, Sor Mano's. They blocked his vision to the ball. He couldn't see it. Caused a turnover. Good job by >> number 12 is in the game for Salem. That's Olaflin. in the game for number five Sako.

>> He's been their best scoreer tonight. He's already got eight points. He's up there with Huxley Brown right now. Both of them with eight leading their team. >> Oh, Carrie. Carry was the call on Ree. Salem's inbounded the ball. San Garmano. Exiter in a 32 zone. Man, the game just flies around. >> This whole This whole defense does I can see why coach Holmes likes a 3-2 zone. They're not afraid to move. Oh, Tamasi got finger on that. Good job by Tamasi >> using that long wingspan. >> Nice job by Age Griffith taking it to the hoop drawing the foul. >> Foul right there on the Laughlin. Foul the Blue Devils number 12 Kyle Laughlin. It's his second with the line shooting two. >> First one's good. [applause] Makes the score 2322. Exit. Man, that

block by Toamasi was beautiful. He just gets up there. It reminds me of a Robert Williams when he was on the Celtics. That wingspan just no shot is safe. >> Two foul shots by Age Griffith gives the Blue Hawks a two-point lead with 143 to go in the first half. Inside Pat, good passing inside. >> Oh, good job, Hudley. Antimas forcing a turnover there. Good job. Oh, little bit of a miscommunication there between Rain and Huxley. This has been a very lowscoring second quarter from both these teams. A lot less scoring than we saw in the uh first quarter. >> Number 12, Michael Burke getting ready to come back in for the Blue Hawks. This zone is giving them >> good job by Huxley. Huxley, man. Great game overall. Age, nice shot. Good hustle trying

to get the rebound, but fumble there. Foul there. >> Yep. >> On the blue marks number four is first. >> You know, for a team who's currently in their coach's first regular season game, they they look good. They look like a great team and promising team this year. >> This is a good switch by uh Coach Holmes going into that 3-2 zone. >> Yeah. >> Oh, nice pass, but he traveled >> took that extra jump. Hop. [applause] Olafin had a really nice pass there in between the geese legs. That was a great great pass. >> Oh, a little bit of a heat check there from Huxley. Oh, >> well at the half the score is the exit to Blue Hawks 24, the Salem Blue Devils 22. >> Well, here's my thoughts here on the first

half. >> The Blue Hawks have discovered something. >> Salem doesn't do well against that 3-2 zone. Yeah, >> I would be very surprised if we don't see the Blue Hawks come out with the 131 and the 2-3 zone or the 32 zone. Yeah, 3-2 zone. >> Definitely. I agree. I think the manto man uh worked a little bit, but I think Salem started using, you know, the drive and drop fouls to kind of get them out of that zone uh out of that man-to-man defense, but When Exer switched to the zone, I don't think Salem scored a point. >> I don't think they did either. >> They were forcing turnover after turnover blocking shots. I mean, Huxley Brown himself, we've talked about he's had three blocks. He had a steal. He has eight points. He's

just overall he's getting it all done. Nate Tamasi with the block three-pointer. And when you got guys like a ghee Tyler and you know you got Raymond Plant and all these guys who are willing to just run run and run and they're not afraid of burning their gas. They're that zone works so well. You saw Ghee was over there starfishing kicking his legs out trying to block any lane of passing. It's a great defensive performance by Exer right now on the offensive side of the ball. Well, you know, they haven't run their offense all when they have. >> They've gotten the matchup that they wanted and they've gotten the shot that they wanted. >> They've got to be disciplined enough >> to run their offense. >> Yeah. You know, Hudley's been was so successful in

that first half when he would get inside. He'd back down and he just put up a nice inside shot in the paint and use his size to his advantage. Now, I think a lot of it is credit to Salem's defense. They're pressing. They're making every single step hard. So, Exer is kind of just trying to take what they can get and it's forcing Xer to take some shots. That's not really Xer basketball. But, we'll see the adjustments Coach Holmes makes. I remember last year when I would talk to him before half, he would tell me what they want to improve and you'd see it right away. He's really good at those halftime adjustments. So, we'll see how they come out in the second half. >> Again, it's the first game. You can't expect the finished

product. >> Yep. >> The first first time on the floor, >> especially having no film on the other team, they came into this game with not knowing what to expect from Salem and they knew they had a new head coach. They couldn't go off of last year's film. So, it it's tough. It's it's going to be tough to game plan for someone you haven't played before. So, overall, I think it's a good first half. I think it's I think if you're an Xer fan, you should be happy. I think if you're a Salem fan, you should be happy. I think it was a great basketball for both teams. There's just a little bit to improve on for both sides. >> Did you uh do you have the scoring so far? Uh yeah, I I have

Kyle Laughlin leads Salem at eight points. And I talked about with Huxley Browns at eight points and a he's at uh I believe he's at six points if I did the you know the math right if I kept the count right cuz he hit that three then he went one for um he went one for three at the free throw line for four and they hit both those free throw shots. So I have him at six and uh but other than that it's been pretty well spread. No team besides Huxley and Olaflin has jumped out as being the second main guy for scoring. Keenan had a rough first half and you know Tyne did as well. Both these guys who I think um were big players last year and being able to score when like

Nate McNe was off the floor or when Brock James was off the floor. I think they both defenses are really honing in on them. You see Tyrese getting picked up at full court. Keenan I he's had a couple of turnovers and had pretty rough of a first half, but >> Okay. Well, you know what? We're going to take a break and uh we'll come back as we get closer to the end of the half right now. Enjoy uh some of the exit. Don't know if this these are travel teams. Do you know Tim, >> are they travel teams or are they wreck teams? I believe it's the like wreck like middle school kind of teams. >> Uh they're not middle school. >> No, but I mean like it's like the under like um you know

how football has exit their Seahawks for the I believe it's like the youth team. >> Okay. Well, we're going to take a break here and we'll be back with the score at halftime. The exit Bluehawks 24, the Salem Blue Devils 22. That's [screaming] [cheering] >> [applause] >> Come on. Let me Come on. Come on. Julie. [cheering] Stand up. Go go go go go Great job. Great. Roblox against basketball. So, Tuesday fallart over the season. Okay, we're back and uh the clock is running down. We've got about a a minute to go here in halftime. The exit Blue Hawks with a 2422 lead over the Salem Blue Devils. >> The buzzard went and uh the both teams go to the bench. I'm going to be interested to see what changes coach Holmes has made. He always

does a good job at figuring things out, seeing how his team is playing, what they're going to do here in the second half. what what they're going to do defensively. I don't know if you saw that wire. >> Yeah. Uh I I I'll be interested to see if they come out immediately in the zone or if they come out in manto man and then e and then kind of surprise that zone on Salem. seems like coach Holmes wants to stick to manto man and use that zone when needed because I think he understands it uses a lot of energy from the whole team because you know with manto man if your guys just sing in the corner you can just sit with them take a little bit of a breather but with zone you have

to constantly be flying around because you're kind of covering two spots at once so it it'll be interesting to see what he comes out here with it looks like right now we're in manto man >> yeah it's what it looks Like here we go. We're getting ready to start. It will be Salem's ball. Number 13. That's Cooper Keenan's going to inbound the ball to number three Zack Sanmano. >> Looks like the starters are in for the Blue Hawks. >> Oh, off Alli's knee. >> [cheering] [applause] >> And the only difference for Salem is with Tenko in the game for Maronei who has three fouls. Salem going man pressure fullourt. Tyler Ree gets the ball up. Oh, bad pass. >> Keenan there. >> Cooper Keenan. >> Little bit of a tough pass there from Re. I

think he's got to slow it down a little bit. He's got to get in his groove. Huxley for three. Huxley Brownley Brown three-pointer. That puts him as the first player in double digits at 11 points. >> [cheering] >> Oh, good shot there by Ali. >> Lee with good position inside. Challenged the big guys and scored. [cheering] >> Yeah, that layup right there was not through a lack of defense by Ree. Ree I I thought he was going to block it. He went right up with him. But Ali just a great job getting that shot over Ree. >> Oh, tough >> boy. Blue Hawks are not getting in in offense. Their guards are being pressured and >> yeah, seems like to me they're a little bit uh they're a little un uncomfortable. Uh they they seem

to be struggling with this Salem defense. >> Nice cut. Nice cut by Kyle uh by Cooper Keenan. >> I think next defensive possession we might see Exers slide into that zone. They got the man coverage beat right there. We'll see what they do next possession. Tibido mid-range. Oh, tough shot. >> Good ball by Tibido. Oh, >> he got fouled from behind by Wintenko. >> Wintenko. Good block there. >> Blue Devils number 22. That's his second. >> I'll be interested to see how the free throws go for both teams in this quarter. They both struggled in the first half. Struggling right there. Okay, Tibido makes the second after missing the first. A good fullcourt pressure on San German. Oh, good block by Huxley. That's number four. But good job by Ali to regain the ball. >>

McDonald. >> Oh jeez. >> A little bit of a miscommunication. >> Oh, good defense by Ree. Just got to get a rebound. >> [applause] >> You know what's happening here is Salem is forcing exit out of their offense. >> Yeah. >> By that fullcourt pressure when the guard beats it, >> he's instead of getting set >> attacking the basket, but we're not under control. >> Yes, Salem right now is having Exer play Salem basketball. And you know, obviously Exer is going to be most successful when they're playing their kind of basketball. And you know, I think this Exer team is a little rattled right now. I think they weren't expecting Salem to come out this hot in this game. And Salem, we've seen has come out even more energetic in this half. So, we'll see

if a player on Xer can drive that spark. And it looks like a ghee is ready. Just coast to coast. Good >> Griffith. He's having a great game. Him and Huxley >> travel. [cheering] >> Man, that's Keenan again having a tough game, >> man. The ghee is just every move he makes is so quick. Oh, foul. >> I think him just going up with a shot would have drawn some free throws, but it's okay. He still draw the foul there. >> He's a wild player. He's always flailing everywhere and he's fun to watch. >> Oh, three ball. Tough shot. I think we need to slow it down here. Oh, off the back foot. Ty, good job controlling it. >> Oh, Nate Tamasi, great job. Good hustle. Good job getting down there and making sure there's

extra guys, you know, not just being like, Tower, you got it. Take it. Hope you make the layup. Good job by McDonald and Tomasi getting down there. Tough shot. San German >> with the jump shot at the foul line. Extended Tyler there. Now get in your offense. There we go. No. >> Here we go. >> Oh, tough pass by Ren there. Oh >> man, good basket on the break, >> man. Huxley Brown. Huxley Brown. Three 14. Two for three from the three. >> Man, Huxley's having a game. >> Oh, little bit of a push off there from Keenan. Tough pass, [cheering] man. [cheering] >> Okay, number 20 in the game for the Blue Hawks. That is Cooper Pedigro as well as 15. That's Nick Meyers. >> A geian ree here going to get a breather.

Welld deserved. McDonald. >> Oh, Hawkley. Oh, >> nice rebound by D Tamasi. >> Nate Nate Tamasi >> using his size. Good job. >> The key to that was he didn't put the ball on the floor. >> No. >> Travel. Oh yeah, [cheering] [applause] >> taking too many steps there. >> Oh, they're taking off running. >> Timeout blues. That might be our first timeout all game. I don't know if either team called one the first half. >> Yeah, I think you're right. Right now, the score is 37 for exit, 35 for Salem. Very much a lowscoring game. >> Every possession here in a game like this is important. >> Yeah. Let's see. We'll see what Exo does coming out of this timeout. We'll see who's on the court and what kind of defensive philosophy they try

and play. But man, I think we were slow starting, but now we're starting to find our groove. And hopefully if we can stay in that groove, we can end up winning this game. by >> Well, you notice what happened the last time we had it. >> Instead of racing willy-nilly to the basket, we slowed it down. >> Yep. >> Got in our offense, we got a good shot. Huxley Brown wide open three ball. >> Score it. >> Yeah. And even on the one where he missed, you know, you had Nate Tamasi who's such a tall guy right there ready for a rebound. He gets the ball. He uses his size. Doesn't even dribble. just goes right up, finds the open pocket. Good job there. >> Okay, it's exit the ball. Nice try by Salem. >>

Exit the ball. [applause and cheering] >> Oh, there's something on the court there. I was wondering why coach Ball was going in the going on the court. >> Okay, McDonald bringing the ball up. Gets a screen by Brown. >> Gets it over. >> Nice handles by now. You're getting in their offense. Travel >> tough. >> Okay, I think we're in the 131 halfcourt trap. This will slow Salem down. >> Oh, foul there. I think it's going to be called on Huxley Brown. Number 34, Huxley Brown. That's his second. O 131 again. Half court trap. >> Oh, good job there by McDonald. He saw the open guy. Tipped it out of bounds. >> Oh, four. Great hustle there. Still a little too strong on that tap out. Number four on Salem. That's Cardona. AJ Cardona. >>

Okay. Meyers inbounds the ball to McDonald. >> Stay still on the screen. They do. >> Good footwork there by uh Jackson McDonald to be able to find the open guy. Oh, double juggle. >> A is checking in here for Cooper >> and Sako checked into the game for Salem. >> Oh, they're they're going to send the ghee off and I >> think the refs are having some trouble with how these coaches are substituting their players here. >> Yes. >> 131. >> Good job. Good hustle by Pedigroove. Pedigroove. Great hustle there. Found the open guy. tipped it out of bounds. They're going to check in Tyler Ree here. >> Good closeout defense from Huxley Brown. Good job getting it to Tyne. to Meyer. >> Oh, tough pass. Foul by Brown. >> Ali, I believe this is

his fourth trip to the line today. Doing a good job of drawing some fouls on this XR team. >> I'll say this, he's not afraid to challenge the big guys inside. Nope. >> The Blue Hawks with a two point lead. We're in the last minute of the third quarter. Ali is having a real tough free throw shooting night. Going to get Tibido in here for Huxley Brown. There you go. Ali made I think that's his first free throw make of the day. >> Here we go. McDonald's >> Green. Oh. Oh. [cheering] >> Salem called timeout. They had possession. Good scrap by number four. That is AJ Cardona. Little bit of a tough sequence there. I thought Tyne maybe had an opening, but Cardona did a great job poking that ball loose and getting possession. And

great job getting that timeout off to make sure Axer can't get the ball back. San German Salem. Travel. Yep. Can't take a running start. >> See what Xer tries to do here. If they try to hold it, get the final shot. Oh, foul. >> Foul is on San German. >> 17 seconds to go in the third quarter. Blue Hawks holding a one-point lead. >> Been a defensive matchup tonight. Very low scoring. there. >> Good pass by Gee. >> Good job drawing the foul there by Tamasi. >> Foul was on withko. >> Maronei is going to come back into the game. >> Making both these free throws is huge here for Tamasi. would have loved to extend this game to a full onepossession three-point game, but Oh, good job. >> Got the second one. >> 6.8

Eight to go. >> Saco. >> Oh, tough shot. >> Tie game going into a fourth. >> Tie score. >> That was a tough shot. He created his own space fading away off one foot. >> Man, that was not much there you can do on defense. Okay, here's what the Blue Hawks need to do. >> They need to slow down, >> get in their offense. They have a tremendous height advantage inside, get the ball inside. >> Yeah. >> And then once they've established inside, they can go inside out. But until then, >> they're not taking advantage of the size. Yeah, I would like to maybe see them go three, maybe even four bigs, you know, with uh with uh Meyers out there. >> Here's the thing. If you go with four bigs, you can't play man.

>> Yeah. >> Because they're not quick enough to stay with the Salem people. >> But I do like right now we got the we got Tamasi and Tibido with Huxley Brown. And I like a ghee and re there for a little bit of little bit of speed. Especially a ghee, man. He is something else on the defense side of the ball. >> Good job there by Hux getting that ball out. >> Oh, gravel. [cheering] >> [applause] >> Man, a ghee picking uh Singer Mano up the entire court. >> Oh, >> nice steal there by Ree. Oh, yep. There you go. That's going to be a foul. >> Fouls on San German. >> Xer's got to slow it down here. They have to. I feel like we've been saying it all game. But they they got

to slow it down. They got to play X of their basketball. Right now, Salem's making them rush things and rush passes. Let's see what they do here. >> Okay, there they go. Cross screen. Oh, three-pointer. >> Giving him some get Hudsley right there. Gave him some space to make that shot. It was a matter of time before Ty hit a three. Good defense. Good pass by Keenan. >> Alli can't hit the three. Just no rebounding right now. baseline. Oh, good defense by Hudson. Oh, I thought he had another double block. Oh, man. He's up to five blocks on the day. >> Two shots for a lead. >> Foul going to be called on Tibido there. Ali is not a guy you're you're going to be upset that you're sending to the line right now. I

believe he's only made one free throw. Tough tough night for him from the line. >> Nick Myers coming in for Tibid though. >> One foul shot by Eli. That's what you need to do. Tempo, tempo. >> Change speeds. >> Oh, good hands by five there, Sako. They're going to call foul on him. Good hands though. poking that ball >> free of [cheering] call that a side out. >> Okay, Salem ball. >> Blue Hawks holding on to a two-point lead. >> Good defense by a ghee. >> Nice hustle. >> Man, this has been a great matchup. A singer Mano fun to watch. Kanan, [cheering] matter of time. Just like Ty. Matter of time before he got going. >> Keenan with a three. >> That gave Salem the lead. That was huge. Oh, what a way up

by Ae. >> Oh, man. Like I said, he reminds me of Marcus Smart and it just it, you know, watching the Celtics back in the day just felt like Marcus Smart was making some circus layups. [cheering] Great closeout defense there by Griffith. >> Oh, good pass. What a finds by Tyler Reigns. Nick Meyers. That's that quarterback vision right there. >> Oh, I was going to say if that's a that's not a foul, that'd be a little crazy, but I I was hoping they give him the block. >> Nate Tamasi with the foul. >> We got McDonald waiting to come in. >> Tough landing there for Keenan. Kanan here going to try to cut it to a one-point lead. McDonald came in for Meyers >> and it looks like Olaflin and Winenko are back in the

game for Salem. >> Two free free throws by Keenan McDonald. That's tempo. >> Oh, tough shot, [cheering] man. McDonald tough mid-range there. [cheering] Oh, >> we're going to call >> going to call basket interference. They hit the backboard, >> huh? >> You can't hit the backboard. >> Is that uh Yeah, it's a >> That's all basket is good. It's like >> goending. Oh, really? >> Man, I don't think that ball is going in anyways. No, it's called basket interference cuz you can't hit the backboard when the shot is taken. >> Interesting. >> Oh man, [cheering] tough call there on Tamasi. I thought his feet were set, but >> Tough past couple of moments here for Exit. [cheering] One-point lead. Exit. 4 minutes and 14 seconds to go in the basketball game. I'll be interested to

see if we uh go back to that zone. We're in man. We've been playing man. Okay. Exodus plane man still. [cheering] >> Oh, good move. >> Oh, good shot. Mutenko with the follow. Good job getting his own miss. >> Good hands by three. Good hustle. McDonald able to recover it and draw a foul. That was a tough landing. Oh man. [applause] Man, I I don't know how these guys play so physical. When I'm playing pickup at the Y, I'm always so scared to go up and go up with someone. Landing on this hard wood, man, it's it makes you pay every single time. >> One and one for McDonald. One and one. >> Yeah, that's an interesting call there. I thought he was going up for >> I thought he was going up for the

layup, too. >> Yeah, I think I thought that was pretty clear, but [applause] tie ball game now. >> First shot was good. Tie tie game. 3 minutes 39 seconds to go. >> Second shot is good. still in manto man for exit. [applause] >> Salem's found success in kind of breaking it up. >> Oh my pointer by Maronei. >> Huge three-pointer. I would like to see Exer get back in that zone. >> Uh it's where we are in the game right now. I think you have to play man. Unless you get a lead. Oh, [cheering] if you can get a couple of point lead, you can sit in the zone. Without that lead, you better play man cuz they're going to hold the ball and run the clock down. Three-pointer here from Ree. Man, he's hot.

Ree answers with a three. Tyler Ree in the fourth quarter is a guy you do not want to be shooting three-pointers. Giving Exiter the lead here. Exit with a one-point lead. >> Oh, good hands by Huxley. And good job by Tamasi to control the steel. Exer slowing it down. I like to see that. >> Inside. Inside. >> Inside to Hxley Brown. He gets hacked on the way to the middle. That's on Marone. >> I think he fouled out. >> Yeah, that's his fifth. He's out for the game. >> I didn't see him pick up a fourth one, but yeah, that's his fifth. Good eye, coach. >> The fourth one was the uh the one on McDonald. >> Right. Right. >> Oh, man. He's >> wide open. No. >> Good shot right there. >> Two minutes

to go in the game. >> Salem losing by one. with the basketball. San Jano. >> Oh man, good job by Keenan getting open. Keenan with a basket. Salem with a one-point lead. >> Mid-range from McDonald. Oh, can't go. [cheering] Oh, baseline. Oh [screaming] my god. With Tenko with the jam. [cheering] Whoa. Over Timido. That's a hard guy to dunk on. Man. [cheering] Man, that was [cheering] that was crazy. Wow. >> Okay, Tibido's going to the foul line. >> Two shots, >> man. And I think even Exit was surprised by that. There's not many people in in New Hampshire basketball that will go up and test Tibido at the at the rim. Man, that was something. Two foul shots. Exit and a press. Whoa, a ghee. Man, that vertical. Oh man, that's got to be over

and back. >> [screaming and cheering] >> That's back. >> Wow, great defense there by Exit. Oh man. [cheering] Saw Jackson McDonald was feeling it right there, man. [applause and cheering] Exit trailing by one. 57 seconds to go. McDonald to a ghee. McDonald pick and roll. >> Oh, good [screaming] hands. Oh, good hands. >> They got call timeout there. Good job. Uh Olaflin getting a timeout there. Tough night for Tibido. Great defense there though by Wenko. Man, he's having himself a night, man. [cheering] >> Okay, the score is 5554. 39 seconds to go. >> Why did you decide to keep >> 39 seconds to go in the basketball game? Salem has the basketball. I do not know if they are in the one and one yet. >> Yeah, we'll we'll see what they do. >> Ah,

they are. I see the the uh arrow up on the scoreboard. That means if exit fouls, Salem has two shots. >> Oh, I thought that's what the B was. I thought the B was for bonus. >> Oh, >> so Exer's in the bonus here. It's not. That's the possession error. >> That's a possession error. >> So, Exer does have I think a foul to give. They might have two. They've played a pretty clean fourth quarter, but we'll see what they do here. They're going to obviously fullcourt press and make it a struggle, man. >> Exits in a one two zone. Ball was inley. >> Almost. Almost a great play, man. That would have been huge. >> Huxley Brown. >> Man, he almost had that steal. That would have been huge. >> 29.5. >> Just cannot

give up a three here. A three here makes it a two-possession game. Cannot give up a three. Man, what a second half for Winenko. Feels like he's been all over the court. That dunk, man, that was insane. >> Okay, the ball's inbounded. San German. Oh, that's got Oh, that's almost five. Good strip by Timido. >> Oh, I think they called that foul. >> Oh, no. Sale tanko. >> I thought they called the foul on Xer. I was going to say, wow, that's a little crazy. Xer fans thought that maybe he had a 5second, but doesn't really matter. You got the turnover. You have the free throw opportunity here again. Two foul shots first. [cheering] That ties the game up. >> That's huge. Tie ball game. 26 seconds. Exit has all the momentum right now. That

was huge >> again. >> [screaming] >> Oh, nice one. [cheering] >> Wow, a geek clutch. He did not let the moment get to him and he made the free throw to give Exader the late lead. So, 26 seconds. Salem has the ball. Will be inbounding the ball. I think the Blue Hawks, they had good success with that pressure. Yeah. Yeah. They had great one 122 or one 1211 zone press. >> Yeah. I think they for they forced the turnover and Huxley almost had that turnover over here. Obviously they they had the inbound here where they also almost had a 5-second which also led to a turnover. So, you know, I think they're they're having a lot of success. A lot of success on that. You said it was a one two two, right? Yeah. I

I would say stick with that. I believe exit called the timeout if I'm correct, but say Yep. Exiter called the timeout. Um so they're gonna still have it on their back end. So I I say stick with the one 122. I like how they had a ghee by the half court line giving Winenko a little bit of space trying to bait a throw there. >> No, the Blue Hawks are coming back. >> Oh, and they're going into the 3-2 zone. >> Interesting here. They're going to try and make Salem take a take a bad shot. [applause and cheering] >> Oh, they got an open guy again. Great close out. Oh, [cheering] Timido can't control the rebound. >> 3 seconds. 3 seconds. Oh man. >> Timeout Salem. Man, Age had great closeout defense there. I'm telling

you, I don't think I've ever seen someone jump so high. Age, man, he is an athlete. I'm sure Coach Ball did everything he could to try and get him on the football team, but man, just tough there. You They miss the shot. You got a chance to get the rebound, get to the line, can't control it. Does a ghee play play a fall sport? Does he play No, >> he does not play football. Um >> Oh, I know that. Did he play soccer? >> No, he's uh he's basketball and track. >> Okay, >> man. He's he's an athlete. >> 3 seconds to go. ball is going to be inbounded to the side of >> the hardest defending basket. >> The hardest part obviously besides getting the shot is going to be getting the ball out

over Tomasi over these bigs. They get a three who shoots misses. That's big. Great close out by a [cheering] great >> Wow, man. A he had some of the most clutch moments in this game. He has the free throws. He has that close out on the corner three by Ali and then the close out on Sangmano for what would have been a game-winning three. A and Huxley Brown. What a game from them, man. You had Ty had a great fourth quarter and man, what a game. That was a way to start the season. >> That was a very intense basketball game. Yeah. >> Well, >> you know, hats off to both teams that came out and was a good real good competitive high school basketball game. >> Keep your eye on Salem this year. >>

They, you know, they they put Xer on they put Exer on notice that I think they're a good team, but uh Exer, they got some stuff to clean up. >> They do. They do. But I think they will do that. I have all the confidence in coach Holmes and uh the final score here now. Do you have any final stats for us? >> Uh Huxley, he had uh about 14. The game got so good it was a little difficult to keep [laughter] stats, but man, that was that was crazy. It was great defense by Agee Griffith and they forced a bad shot for Salem at the end. >> San Jamano didn't hit the rim. >> Good win for the Blue Hawks and uh because things are only going to get better. >> Yeah. Got Portsouth

next week. Got some tough games, >> right? They go to Londereerry on Tuesday and we will be with you again on Bluehawk basketball next Friday night as a Portouth Clippers who are according to the experts are considered the top team in division one. >> Wow. >> So it should be a heck of a game. >> So the final score for the final time, the Exit Bluehawks 56. The Salem Blue Devils 55. This is Bill Taylor >> and Timothy Hollister >> saying we hope you tune in next Friday night for the Exit Portsouth boys basketball game. >> Good night.
