Hi Angel. Hi everyone. Hello. Hello. >> Hi Linda. Hi. Jason and Angel, are you guys the only ones there? Yes. Yes, we are. So sorry. >> Yeah. I ain't Oh, but I mean Lori, you're you're not there at the building. No, I'm here with Barky dog, so I'm keeping myself Let me out, let me out. Jason and Angel are very brave. >> Oh, there they are again. It looks like over at the ESC they're having some connection issues. So, we'll have to see how that goes. Yep. I just got your text, Jason. Hey, Sam. Can you hear me? Yes, I can. Okay, this is Melissa. Hey, how's it going? Good. How are you? Not bad. I am not at the ESC. I'm at my house. Yeah, that's I feel a little bad now. When I

talked to Jason earlier, I didn't think Jason and Angel would have to be at the ESC. So, now I'm like, "Oh, man. I don't know. Might The basement there might be the safest place to be depending on how tonight turns out though." Good. Yeah. That's like the safest place to be in the city if there's a tornado. Well, I'm not seeing Dan. He might hop on in a little while. He might uh I think he's uh I think he's going to find his way on in a few minutes, but I'm going to get us going, just get the ball rolling. Uh because we do have the time of 5:31. Um So, yeah. This is the uh planning committee meeting. I'm chairing tonight in uh in lieu of Craig, in lieu of Tammy who had something

else come up. Uh so, she's unfortunately not available. But, uh yeah. We'll we'll get going and our first item on the uh agenda is uh well, there would be public input, but none of us are there in person. Jason, do you have anyone there who wants to make public input? We do not. Okay. Well, that's not surprising. Um so, we'll move on to discussions. Our first item on the agenda is referendum reflections. Uh Jason, I'll let you uh start off that conversation and uh we can get going with it. Sounds good. Thank you. Uh we always do start with gratitude because it's really important to me and important to our organization. And so, I do want to uh say thank you to all the members of the Board of Education for your leadership and support

of our referendum efforts. Very much appreciated. As we've talked about at planning committee and other uh uh settings, our staff and we had a group of volunteers that was instrumental in in informing our public around the why, what, how of the referendum. And I want to uh publicly thank them as well. And then certainly uh I to thank the members of our community at large. I really appreciate the support of the district at the referendum. And I appreciate the commitment organization our community at large. And so last month we had talked about referendum reflections. And so we know that uh we were successful in the referendum and we always want to celebrate those successes, but we're also committed to doing things differently better. And today so today is really a time for us as a

planning committee to come around and some discussions about things that went really well around communications, education systems. Uh things that we can consider doing differently or better if or when we go back to thinking about a referendum, but it's an open forum for discussions around those kind of things around celebrations or things that we may want to think about doing differently or better in the future. So I think we just open up for discussion. Yeah, if there's no one else who wants to go, um I mean I'll start off by saying I think it's really incredible uh the uh the difference we've seen in this referendum versus the last one that went through. Um totally different outcome. I think the people of the community really came out and supported the district. Um and I think

in my personal opinion ever since last year I think that really the big the big shift that we saw is uh one in messaging and two in uh in circumstances. I think that the messaging this year was a lot more focused on respecting the the members of the community and understanding that it's a that it's a sacrifice on their part and a a perhaps a worthwhile one, but it is a sacrifice and that we're grateful for it. And uh the circumstances of uh some of the changes that are going on in the district and the clear vision and the direction that we're moving, I think people were really behind that when I did talk to people who were supportive of the referendum. Um I think that I think that created a big difference. Thank you.

Yeah, go ahead, Linda. I just want to say how much I appreciate Melissa truly coordinating everything. She I I believe she was the uh hub in the bicycles and there was a lot of spokes, yes, but someone to keep everybody on track and to really be coordinating thing. I really just want to uh say a huge shout-out to Melissa for all the time that she invested. Um yes, the benefits are there for sure and I don't think it would have happened without her. I agree. Melissa that is uh I appreciate that. Thank you. It was a team effort though. Yes, definitely. I think everyone put their hands on board. Yeah, Julaine, speaking of hands, go go right ahead. Yeah, thanks, Sam. Um I think one of the things that went extremely well was uh and

you you referred to it in broader sense, Sam, but I think the messaging was so much better than the previous year. The specificity, the um we were consistent. We showed uh and and granted, I didn't see everything that went out for the 2025 referendum. So, please know that we might have done a lot of the things the same, but I think that what we did this particular time was was very effective. I had people thank me repeatedly for showing the graph about our mill rate. Thank They thanked us for showing the impact on their mill rate the mill rate on their property on the increase of the mill rate on their property or the increase of taxes on their property. And I also think that we were I think we were very transparent that this

this particular referendum doesn't fix the the budget problem that we have, but it gives us some breathing room to see if we can come up with something is even a longer-term fix as we move forward with, you know, maybe impacting other other areas like state law or something like that or getting people to loosen up some money from the state. So, I think the messaging was important. I do think that it was important for the coordination for the board and the administration to hit as many of these events as we could. And I know that took a lot of scheduling on the part of Melissa and Tammy Fournier in particular. I know a lot of people gave a lot of time to showing up to those and I think that that spoke volumes to the

community. And you know, looking back on this gang, we took the middle. We didn't go to the 6 million, we didn't go to the 3 million. And there was talk that, you know, wow, margin of you know, the margin of error was involved on that 4.5 million. And we said, "No, we're going to trust the community to understand that the need is real." So, I just think we did a lot of things well on this and good videos, I thought those were helpful videos. I don't know Melissa if anybody's tracking views on those and how they did, but I hope they were well viewed and were helpful in the process. So, from from my perspective looking at it, that's some feedback on it. Thank you. Go ahead, Lori. Hi, I'll try to do this quick

in between dog barking and thunder. Um Uh I I I think one of the things that the the main thing we did right was we surveyed the community. We told them exactly what they get for how much for for the different levels. 4.5 million, we said we close two schools. 3 million, we said we close three schools. And the community chose the 4.5 million. And our messaging was specific enough to help them understand what they get for the referendum that they choose. Yeah, that's that's great insight, Lori. I totally agree. I think the specificity of the messaging really helped. I think that with future with with future endeavors by the district, it's going to be a big deal to make sure that we're as specific as possible. Uh I see Dan's joined us. Uh Dan,

if you've got access to your microphone there, uh do you have any thoughts about the uh success of the referendum, about what we did well, anything that we can improve, anything like that? Well, yeah, we Can you hear me? Yep. Okay. I I thought the advertising was great and uh the effort was particularly good with people showing up uh at various functions. Last night, we got a glimpse of who, you know, which districts voted for and which against. And it was overwhelmingly won by city voters. And the I I think almost every township voted against it. So, whatever that indicates, I don't know, you know, as far as in the future goes. But maybe we didn't hit the townships hard enough or um just uh you know, the the different uh mindset in the city.

Any ideas, anybody? Yeah, I mean I'm not sure, Dan, but my initial thought is perhaps we didn't have as much communication out to the townships. Uh-huh. Um you know, and I mean I can understand that because the city is already quite a sizable place in and of itself. Um Jason, do you have any knowledge about any interaction we had with the townships? Uh I think the one thing that I'd point to, you know, much of our our strategy of communication was common across all areas, right? Including townships. And what I mean by that are our mailers, uh literature drops, things of that nature. I think moving forward, if we were to think about townships, I think uh one thing that I think about is uh really promoting face-to-face engagements, whether it be community events uh

that we organize or community events in the in the townships that we can plug into. I think that's something that I would think about moving forward. Yeah, I agree with that, Jason. Thanks. Any further thoughts? Well, I'm not hearing anything further. Um if anyone's got any additional feedback, I mean, feel free to reach out to uh especially Tammy as the head of the planning committee, but uh to the whole board, anyone who's got any ideas for those things going forward, but I do think the big takeaway is messaging was personal and gracious. It was very specific. Um obviously a sunset clause was very important, and I think the direction of the district is helping a lot. In the future, perhaps we uh try to increase communication for any sort of uh district endeavor uh out

to the uh the full the the the full district, including the townships. Um no one's got any further thoughts, uh we can move on to item B on the discussion list, district of the future timeline. Uh Jason, take us away on this. I know we've talked about it a little bit already, but I think you'd be the best place to start there. Yes, thank you. Thank you uh once again for the support and leadership. Uh just uh context for uh the start of the conversation. We know that uh April 8th the Board of Education approved uh the District of the Future Advisory Committee. And we are actively working to bring that, identify uh folks to be on that committee, and we'll start messaging and then meeting with that group at an early date. And so,

that committee is really going to be tasked with a few things. One is uh again, uh thinking about ways that we can honor the legacy of Lincoln and Lincoln uh for the next year. Uh helping us think about how to transition families into new learning communities really well. I think it's also a component of how do we bring agricultural and environmental along with STEM uh, content across all our schools. And the And the next component is really thinking about what does our programming and facilities footprint look like in our district 3 5 7 9 year strategic. And so, with that, uh, I think it's also important and most prudent to start thinking about some timelines for the board to uh, hear some considerations, some input, and then ultimately some make some decisions. And so, in

in board docs, there's a a really draft draft draft one cheater of a a draft suggested timeline. Uh, Sam, Craig, and I spoke of this uh, last week. We know that many more discussions need to take place around this timeline, especially with the full board. We thought we'd bring here as an initial conversation and planning, get some initial feedback, and bring it forward to full board at some point in the future. And so, the what last thing I'd say before I turn it over to the team, I think there are two important parts here to point out. Uh, it's really loud here, so I apologize. It is the weather's uh, impacting the noise level here. Um, what is uh, number six on that list? It is the idea of a school perception school perception survey.

Uh, as we talked about the last uh, we just talked about this last agenda item above, getting uh, survey the community, and getting some specificity and options. Uh, certainly about at early discussions with school perceptions about what that would look like, but uh number six calls uh for a survey of our community. And then the last one I'd like to call out is, again, this is draft draft draft, but number 10 really calls out uh December Board of Education uh meeting where we make decisions about anything different as far as our facilities footprint and the consideration of uh capital improvement. Again, uh before I turn it over for discussion, this is as draft as I think we've drafted it. And knowing further discussions will be able to take place, but any initial thoughts, conversations, and

feedback would be appreciated. Yeah, I'll start off with a few thoughts. Um one, I think this is a great idea, especially as we're transitioning Lincoln and Leap over the next year. I do think that's really important, Jason. I think that you've done a great job with that. Um I don't necessarily have an issue with the timeline as you have it listed on the draft, but I do think that scope is very important because we're going to be working so fast, and I think it's uh I think we should maintain the topics of this committee to just how do the uh what's the logistical element of transferring Leap and Lincoln over to uh other other locations. Okay. Woah. My goodness. >> Anyone else have any thoughts or is everyone getting uh getting their internet connection cut

by this crazy hail? My internet connection isn't cut, but my my distraction level is at the highest ever as I hear this hail bouncing around out there. Yeah. About as big as a quarter. At least. If I could point uh Sam, I appreciate the feedback. I guess uh if I could give some feedback specific to number six and 10, that would be especially helpful for me and uh the leadership team to think about as we continue to kind of map out to-do's that lead up to some decisions. Yeah, sorry, Jason. The hail got so loud, I had a little bit of trouble hearing you. Well, I have a question for Jason. Jason, what kind of feedback are you looking for number six? I think mostly um I guess some additional context. Um the work of

the uh mapping out the District of the Future Advisory Committee, um right now, the work that we have put into it really has some type of recommendations being ready for the board to be considering in November. And so, uh I think if you would have looked at this uh suggested timeline yesterday, for example, this school perception survey was I think in July. And so, moved it up to September. So, we're really putting thinking about putting the board in a excellent position, having community input via the survey, some recommendations from the district in the future, continue conversations through regularly through the board, putting the board in a hopefully a great position with all the data, literature, and conversations in December. And so, the feedback for me is really around timing. Uh does that timing of September

make sense? And again, on number 10 is uh what are your initial thoughts uh when you read those words and hear those words playing out on decision-making in December? Uh thank you. Well, just uh as you were talking about it, it seemed to me if we I think if you're saying in number six is September school perception survey is mailed, I would assume that that's like the middle of September with a return coming back in October, early October. And if that's the timeline that you're thinking, I would I have to believe that that should give us enough time as a board, could give us half of October, all of November, and part of December to, you know, to really assess the the feedback from um the individuals that get that survey. So, I think I

don't think there's a problem with the timing there. And yeah, I I know what you mean by item 10. We're asking for the board to be able to make some pretty weighty decisions in that meeting. So, you know. Thank you. Yeah, I think the board would have to have a full discussion as far as that last item goes for a capital referendum. I don't I haven't seen any distinctive discussion on the board so far about that. I think we would need to have a more holistic discussion. Um perhaps that's something that we can talk about at a during the strategic planning strategic discussion section of the full board meeting. Um but that's certainly something that I think we have to iron out. Uh whether or not that's something that this board has an appetite for

and most certainly whether that's something that the community is interested in at this point. Um and I think we should be very cautious to approach that. Um as I've mentioned in the past. I I agree wholeheartedly. Any further thoughts on uh that timeline? I do think that September is a great point for a survey to be mailed and I think that regardless of exactly what we as a board are looking to do, I think that there's going to be good content for that survey. So I think that we can start having that discussion about what the survey looks like. Most definitely start uh figuring out what this uh future of the district uh committee looks like advisory committee. I think that's a great idea. All right. Thank you. I'm not hearing any further thoughts at

the moment. Um feel free to reach out to us if you guys do come up with anything later on and we'll certainly take that into discussion or into account. I'm sorry, but uh right now would the uh member the present members of the committee uh find it acceptable to move this to a strategic discussion at the full board meeting on the uh I believe it's the 27th. Right now I'm looking for input from myself and uh Linda Overbrunner. So, yeah, I mean, yes, I I will that I will actually won't be at I'll be present, but I won't be on. But, yes, uh that would be great to have it for uh April. Yeah, and I'm open to that as well. So, uh yeah, I think that'll be an action item from today's meeting. Sounds

good. Thank you. Yeah, and with that, uh let's move on to our next item on the agenda, the Board of Education onboarding item. Uh this will probably be pretty quick. Um we've got some public content here, uh new board member orientation agenda from Lynn, and uh got a PDF on onboarding new members. Um I don't think Lynn is there with you right now. Uh Jason, do you have any input for that? Uh a couple things. Thank you, Sam. One is just a reminder of some timelines. Um we agreed uh when Tammy and I were mapping out the agenda, we agreed to bring uh this to the Planning Committee for review and any uh suggested revisions. I think it's also important to remind members of the board that the literature that uh you have in BoardDocs

and other literature that's part of the packet is also in the Board Development Google Drive. So, all of this literature that we're going to speak of tonight is also available in the Google Drive for review. And so, uh two thing three things that I think are important to highlight. One is that there's two two uh supporting documents, the onboarding new members deputy board clerk is really kind of the work that Lynn will spend some time with new members. We have a singular new member of the board uh for about 45 minutes 50 minutes and so that document is really kind of a checklist or to-do list for Lynn and new member of the board. And then the second document that the top of it says onboarding new members is something that in the past the

superintendent and the board president work through after the work with Lynn. And so this year just because of schedules right now I believe the plan right now is for Sam, myself and Sarah if she's available to work through that kind of onboarding new members document on April 21st I believe. So let me pause there before I go on to the next piece and ask if there are any questions suggested revisions on these two pieces. The only suggestion that I have is in those board key roles. I think that pulling up the specific state statutes related to the responsibility of boards. I do understand that we hire super the superintendent position to handle many of those elements but understanding that it's ultimately on the shoulders of the board not on the shoulders of the individuals that

the board hires. I think it's an important point so that's something that I would pull up. I'll have to look for the exact statute number but that's a small alteration. Yep. Um I think the rest of it looks good to me. Anyone else notice anything? Linda, Julaine I think uh Lori is still here. Only if um that the commit that the committee meetings can change uh in December and November depending on holiday calendar. So, just to kind of keep that awareness in there. Definitely, yes. Uh I'm going to move this forward if that's all right, Sam. Sounds great to me. There's also um if we were face-to-face, which we were planning to today, there's a a board folder that uh new board members receive and so, there are paper copies. I wanted to be mindful

of how many supporting documents we have in board docs. Just a reminder, all of them are in board development Google Drive. But, uh the the packet includes, you know, those two supporting documents. It includes school board contact information. Uh committee uh structures and dates. Uh different contact information for administrators. I wanted to add to that. Um I'm not sure if it could be put on that. But, when Dan and Julaine and I met, we realized to the helpfulness of touring the school buildings um as part of onboarding. And so, we were talking about a mentoring type of program with an with an experienced uh board member taking the new person uh to the schools. That that is just so helpful. It just gives you so much more insight into um the structure that goes on

during the days. That's a great point, Linda. I will make sure to bring that up during my portion. I'm going to be handling the onboarding because Greg's going to be out of town. So, I'll make sure to bring that up while I'm onboarding Christina. Thank you. Yeah, thank you for the input. It's very helpful very helpful, Linda. We did lose connectivity for a moment, but I guess my point is there's a a number of hard copy pieces that we hand to new board members. And if you have time or interest to look at if you want to stop by and get a hard copy of it to take a look at it before next week or check that Google Drive. Any any suggested feedback any suggested revision or feedback is always welcome. Um as we

prepare to onboard our new board member. Most definitely, Jason. Thank you. I will if I do see anything or something comes to mind, I'll certainly let you know. And knowing the rest of the board, I'm sure that no one's going to be afraid to do the same. Yes, thank you. Well, I think that brings that portion of the discussion to a close. We can move on to the Board of Education Survey updates. Julaine and Linda, it looks like Dan lost connection. Um Julaine and Linda, do you guys have any uh uh insight on that? Well, based on the meeting, I think it was was our March meeting, right? Didn't we decide to go ahead with the survey? I think the board approved the survey in its entirety. I believe so. And so, we need to

get that if we're going to administer that in April, which I think was the plan with a new person coming on, then we should do that. Um probably sooner rather than later, sometime this week or next week. Make sure that it gets delivered to current board members, including Linda because her Uh, Linda, your input as an outgoing uh board member, I think would be very helpful. And certainly we need to get it uh to Christina as a new member coming on and and start assimilating that so we can kick off the um next round on in a timely way with that information. Be happy to do that. Edward, uh thank you. When Tam and I were planning the agenda for today, we we knew as Jillaine points out that the board had approved the questions.

I think we were thinking tonight we would talk about some of the finer details of the logistics. Things like Jillaine is kind of pointing out um you know, the uh the things like the frequency of the surveys. Is that is it once a week? Is it every quarter? Is it twice a year and when? Things of that nature. Um and if we want to ask Lynn to be the creator of the Google form that would go out, who is the keeper of the data? Shall the planning committee do a data dig like we've done in the past? Things of that nature. Just some of the finer details that the board uh can think through and talk through so I can help execute this. Well, I'll answer any Go ahead. >> Yeah, go ahead, Jillaine. Well,

I just I don't think it should be administered any any more frequently than twice a year. We don't need it quarterly and I I guess I lean toward one one time a year, but perhaps twice a year. That's kind of where the board goes. Um if Lynn can do in my opinion, if Lynn can do a Google form that can then be emailed, you know, the link to all of us so that we can get um get going on filling out the form. I think that would be great. But I think Tammy and I talked it seemed to me about who should keep the data. I think it needs to stay in the planning committee, personally. Um and so in in my mind, the chairman of the planning committee is the keeper of that data.

Uh but that's subject to everybody else's thoughts as well. Oh, I'm hearing sirens. That would be true. Yeah. Let's uh let me see if going into my basement cuts out my connection. Um but uh yeah, no, I don't mind that idea, Julaine. Um tell you what, let's uh can we put this on hold and go in the basements until the sirens stop? What do you guys say? I don't know. It's just going to do its thing. I just got back. Yeah, darn, hey. All right, yeah, we're going to yeah, I'll uh I'm going to mute myself. I'm going to stay on the meeting and I'm just going to go down. I think folks need to make individual uh decisions about how to be uh comfortable and safe. Can you repeat that, Jason, please? Yes, I

was just saying that given the weather, I think it's really important for uh folks to make individual decisions >> Yes. that make them really comfortable and as safe as possible right now. Absolutely, thank you. Yes. Yeah, definitely. Um yeah, I'm downstairs. It looks like I've still got connection. Um obviously, if I cut out, I cut out. Um yeah, no, definitely not more than twice a year. I think the original idea was to have the survey uh twice a twice a year because we were going to have it be kind of like what are our goals at the beginning of the year and then a halfway point check-in to see how things are going and to and to gain feedback and that was going to be especially valuable for the new board members so that they

can kind of get an initial look, have some time and then give feedback partway through before the full end of the year. But for now I think that having Lynn design a Google Doc fillable form and send that out to everyone. Yes, that should stay in planning. I agree with Julene there as well. Um and I think that uh I think that for now we can have Lynn put that together, compile that data and then that'll be accessible and and we'll we'll keep that in planning as as we go along with it. All right. I'll I'll have to work with Lynn to create the Google form and whatever systems that she had to created in the past when we have done a survey I'll ask her to kind of replicate with the goal of of

bringing the data conversation and a look at the data at the May planning committee meeting. Thanks Jason. Is there any opposition on the committee to that to that plan? I'm not hearing any. Nope. There you go. Thanks Linda. Not for me. Okay, sounds great. Thanks guys. So All right, then the next item up is the Board of Education Retreat. Jason, I believe you were in discussions with Tammy about the subject of the Board of Education Retreat and the timing on that. I believe that the subject matter was going to be the results of that survey and it was going to take place sometime in May was the goal last I heard. I think I think this was just a very early discussion with Tammy and I talked about I believe that Craig had suggested moving

the retreat. I think it was initially thought of being in May but I believe Craig and Tammy talked about the potential of moving it to June and using some of the as you said Sam some of the patterns in the data that comes from the survey to really match the retreat agenda items to the to you know patterns in the data from the survey but I think here the discussion was is the planning committee comfortable with moving that forward. I think if so we could put this back in May and flush out some of the finer details and hopefully the weather is not impeding some great discussions. Yeah, most definitely. Um Yeah, Linda, Dan, you guys got any thoughts on that? Yes, I do. The uh I think that's good timing Jason uh because we're

not going to make any changes before the end of the year anyway for this school year. So that gives us enough time to talk about the next school year. And then um Dan and I had met with Tina Crave uh from the Health Foundation and she um had offered to be part of a retreat as well. Um Dan'll fill everybody in on that as it gets closer I'm sure. Yeah, I think that was going to be one of the retreats farther down the line. I believe this one was uh more centered around the board uh questionnaire review Um and discussing some of those goals. But thank you for bringing that up Linda. We'll certainly keep that in mind. So just to clarify then this particular quote retreat would be our opportunity to get together and

discuss the input that we were given from the survey, right? Correct. Go ahead Jason. Sorry. I'm so sorry. I can't tell when you're done. I apologize. Um What I What I think um and and couple things that I think about is that um at the May planning committee members of the planning committee and any board members in attendance would take a look at the data and you know, I'm thinking that that Chris Lloyd and I have a phone call for looking at the data so we can do something very similar just to understand the data highlights and celebrations, talk about any gaps that we see and then that conversation of gaps could become agenda items on the retreat along with any topics of professional development that the board could surface as as priority. And so

I think the retreat could become kind of two fold. One is let's talk about the survey data gaps and how do we fill those gaps? And is there any professional development linked to that or any professional development in general that the board would desire and look forward to. Well, I I think that has the possibility of being an incredibly fruitful board retreat. Thanks. As we and we hold it in June so that we are ready to with everybody new person that as well. We are ready to really hit the ground running by certainly no later than August and with with changes that need to be made whether you know dealing with the information we get back from the survey should there be as you say gaps that we need to address and then professional development.

I think that I think that has the potential for really being a very helpful retreat. Yeah, I agree with Julaine. I would even go so far as to say that I think knowing our knowing how how we love to dig into information and talk and consider it. I really do think that the content of the the content of the survey would be more than enough to have a full retreat on its own personally. Dan and Linda, do you have any thoughts on that? Oh, I see you. I liked what Jason said though about if there's certain gaps that are showing up then to address those with potential solutions from that. I mean just just so that there's some direction and recognition that if there is a gap how that could be addressed future. Yeah, most

definitely Linda. I think that's a great point. I think that's a great point. Dan, you got your hand up. What are your thoughts? Yeah, I think the idea of Julaine had was very good. I know that we talked about possibly finding a park and grilling out and I think if I remember right, I think Julaine uh she said that she would be the griller. Is that correct Julaine? I think we said Dan was going to be the griller. >> Oh, oh, okay. I must have heard wrong. I think you had your ears on backwards. Uh one of us will grill out. Maybe a team effort, but anyway, I think that would be fun to be in a park, you know, get away from the buildings. That's it. Yeah, I'm not uh I'm not completely opposed

to the idea. I think I would want to put that out to the full board just so they can give us their input on it. I want to make sure I'm not, you know, I don't I don't know if I'm imposing on anyone else for one reason or another, but it's a very interesting idea. I think what I'm hearing consensus on right now is move the ref move the retreat to June. Um, that way it gives you guys time to go through the data and kind of compile some themes. And then uh have it focused on the data, but then have those data points branch out into larger discussions about where we can go as a board and as a district. Yeah. Yes. Yeah, uh yeah, that's uh that's what I'm thinking. Uh any further

thoughts before we move on to our last item? Yeah, I got a thought. This is a great reminder to all of us about how distracted students can get when things are going on outside when they're trying to study and learn. Very true. Absolutely correct, Jolene. Absolutely correct. All right. Well, uh hearing no further uh elements of discussion for item E, we'll move on to item F, Board of Education in 60 seconds. Jason, I'll let you start that conver- Yes, thank you. Um just a reminder uh Pam and I agreed that we'd put it on for discussion so we didn't have to remind ourselves to call this out, but for last several months we've had a one board member do the board of education update 60 seconds. Typically we Melissa the morning after 8:00 a.m. ish

after the full board meetings that would be April 28th at about 8:00 a.m. Melissa is very flexible. And she most definitely support. We have a common intro common outro but the content of that 60 seconds really looks for the board member to bring or and work in concert Melissa. So we're just looking for someone to do the April 28th board of 60 seconds update. You know what? I'll volunteer for that. I was asked to do it several months ago and for different reasons it just didn't work out. So I'll I'll do that. Thank you for sparing the rest of us Yulon. But everybody else has done that. I haven't you done that Sam and I know Linda did it once and Dave's done it and Me, Craig, Linda, Dave, Dan. I think maybe it's just

you and perhaps Tammy are the only ones. Yeah and Carl maybe. Yes, that's right. Yeah, you Tammy and Carl. So yeah, you can take this time and we'll we'll throw Carl at it next time. Okay. Any any further thoughts and any comments or questions? I like doing that. I think we should keep on doing it. I know we kind of started it in relation to the referendum but I think it's a nice way to get more information out to the community and you can never communicate too much is my motto. I agree. Thank you. Yeah, all right. Well, then we can move on to the next section of our agenda action items present. Jason, you want to talk us through that? Yeah, I down seven things here eight things. One is uh the board of

Ed meeting for April 27th. We'll add the suggested district of the future timeline under strategic discussion. Number two is Sam mentioned some statutes connected to board key roles. Work with Linda to see if we can add that to the onboarding. Number three is I think we lost connectivity for a second, but I think there was some discussion about President and or Vice President doing some school tours with the new board members. So I added that as a to-do that Sam would bring that to the discussion. Number four is in May's during May's planning committee meeting, we will do some type of data digging of our cert board of Ed survey. And again, I'll work with the chairperson to develop that plan. Also on the May agenda, we'll talk about the June retreat. Sounds like unanimousness

around June. And really using the data dig as a platform for what could agenda for that retreat will look like. Number six is that I will work with Linda to to dust off those survey systems and execute the survey as quickly as we can here. Number seven is Julaine and Lissel work through the April board of Ed updates in 60 seconds. And then number eight, I heard Dan volunteer to be the host of the retreat, provide all the food and the grilling. Is that right? I heard the same thing. Okay, yes. I know I heard it. We'll leave eight off the official minutes if that's okay. I do have a refinement on one of those, Jason. Please. So, it's I don't know what number it was, but it was the one about the board pre-

chair our board president and or vice president doing the school tours. I when we put that survey together, Dan and Linda and I thought that it would be appropriate for the board chair our board president to actually appoint a mentor from the board of education. Yeah. Who could take that tour and also do other things to make sure that that person the new person or persons have a point of contact that is their person for especially for that first 6 months to a year. Sounds great. I'll I'll just revise that to the board president will sign a mentor and then the mentorship would would include the touring. Yep, there you go. Thank you very much. Yeah, that sounds great. Anything else anyone has? Yes, as far as the uh mentor goes, I believe that Christina

and Lori have talked about Lori being her mentor. I don't know if that's a problem or not or if Good idea. Yeah, I mean if that's uh I mean I I you know, I I don't mind whoever it is as long as they can do it um if that's something that's happened. Yeah, and if if not, it could be any one of us for just that, you know, I mean that particular day. Whoever could make it really. When I meet with Christina for the onboarding next week, I think it's already next week, hey? Uh when I meet with her next week for that onboarding, I'll talk with her about that. I'll find out some more information and uh we'll see if uh anything more needs to happen or if it's kind of worked its way

out on its own. Okay, very good, Sam. Very cool. Thank you. All right, I think that's everything. Move on to past action items now. I believe I'll read things to you, but I believe uh those five items have been accomplished well before today. Uh so I'm confident that those are in the rearview. Always nice to see. Always nice to see. Um yeah, I don't have anything that I would add to that at the moment. I think everything is good. Um if anyone realizes there's something that's missing, reach out as always. Future agenda planning would be the next item on our agenda here. Anyone got any further thoughts on what the next agenda would hold outside of the things we already talked about today? Not hearing anything. If you do, you can always reach out to

Tammy or Jason or me or Craig if Tammy or Jason are not available for whatever reason, and we'll make sure it gets on there. All right, thank you, everybody. Yeah, thank you. Thank you. Thanks very much. So I'm just going to call the meeting adjourned. Oh, sorry. I think my microphone turned off there. Yeah, next meeting date is May 6th, and we'll meet at 5:30 unless something changes or we have some crazy weather that day or something, and maybe we'll even meet anyways. So yeah, with that I'll call the meeting adjourned. Thank you very much. Thank you all. Have a nice night, folks. Thank you. Bye.
