ragey yes miss Anderson yes Miss Smith yes mr. cross I just miss Duchin yes mr. Keadle yes public audits and accordance with the open public meeting and we will over the public comments but I'm holding it this time each people should state history name and address you will have three minutes to address the board which will define my big we will live in this section to double over to the 45 minutes please be respectful and mindful that your comments are being silenced we'll go to a presentation I just got a phone call in addition for GSA Gay Straight Alliance from Connecticut high school and are reaching action to us as a board and our association as far as being exactly turkey as far as leading how this should go so I would just like to
say I am honored but I was the first one who put this board GSA was gay-straight alliance as a reward window here it was a struggle and to be honored for somebody to say that the principal of cadet City High School says reach out to - want to emulate what you have done I had the honor of meeting Finland and the rest of our people before us in myself so this is what our action will be doing it's very interesting it's not my agenda in life but it's this is where we need to stand as far as what we need to know when there's a transgender it's coming out we have policy for state policy but I think we open the lines of communication if somebody wants to be called Kishi and when their name
change goes on we need to open up the lines of communication because this is where it falls short it's it's very difficult today and I'm not an expert on this and it's very difficult when I was growing up it was gay lesbian LGBTQ I so like I said I am NOT the expert but I think this is a great outreach where we can go forward and I know mr. Chow Mei will help us in this and I know dr. Klink will help that's going forward like I said these are Chinese where there's no black and white anymore and we are not the experts anymore children that are leading this so this is where we stand I'm very grateful that I know we have a board that will support reaching over to the [Music] but if
we can be the leaders on this increase directorate's as far as what's going on from in HTE a we're looking forward to the new school year we were so glad that we resolved our negotiations and moving forward and looking forward to committing to all of us helping our students yeah you need everybody so they use the board into our sacrament for another successful graduation product graduation weather obviously be nothing that dealing inside but I'm very ceremonial twenty can't afford Jennifer mo for her work on that the graduation which you talking about that December to staff secretary set for suppose that IT staff means the ground staff for their work in July [Music] really trying to focus intentional focus oscillate to take that trip early in the board reporting microscope figures the absolutely hands down is
the best professional growth her had my photography network with people from Australia across the country that social media colleagues with enables network and reach out to really in a second so this question something that's going on reach out to have that strange need to focus on everything from data curriculum and this year's focus is SEL and I think it's been a great position but reports us around that is one of the day or that the best growth nice thing for myself in school because I'm you texting email nerd about three hours or so but I always bring a lot of that back in Turkey that's the initiative team as well as the so it's on NES SPT elegans the finished state combined net and now it's the National Congress they do an additional school and
secondary or together and as it used to just be by themselves which I think it was pretty neat obstinate large about three thousand you know principles from all across country last appears at the by NBC nineteen versus conferencing quiet everybody which actions nicely suited to the net now material for some television most school principals are out there so some similarities there as well okay that's all I have for my questions on any of that [Music] thank you [Music] and I'm ridiculous because I'm having this special report in front of me but what I remember is that it was go last year over there before it was twice as many 95 you're busy wait a minute was like astounding so I just want you to kind of go through it a little bit less what's happening
yep so to clarify this 95 is the number for the issue that's the your date number 50 was here at day time for last year so I think that's reco most answering in person so nearly double for that I would have start by saying that as I started since principal of 2008 the numbers were drastically higher than 95 our DVRs which are now both SSDs so the change state changes into something else will also drive something higher so we've been able to work on that over the course of time I think that probably cool things one is 50 is probably a little bit of a low anomaly and I think that when we have this is my personal understanding java town week we have changed and eroded some of the resources not for a decision
as to say than you made just for the way things are those proactive measurements will then see a reactive response and a reactive response it ends up being suspensions and hasn't then do with penalized mismanagement ordinate is the duke have done an outstanding phenomenal job I don't want to spare --is-- what they've done on any way shape or form because working with them and an arsenal days I've seen how that handled every situation on your bucket or situation but I do think that when those resources and our counseling resources initiative resources on the ground resources are changed or reallocated or the course of time that then there's proactive measures that would sometimes take place prior to suspension just can't take place so I think ultimately some of that increase as a result of that I
also think that we had a very look at the numbers particularly numbers now look at these every month to says just as we do when you look at these numbers and you say you know inappropriate behavior work from 6 to 29 subs used to determine tonight 9:18 not replies no from one to six those non-compliance non-compliance means that student was sent out learning to ETA policy and that's a positive and they refuse to do the counseling emotion is part of the policy they know give them a lot of flexibility around their that's number nine is that nearly as high as the ones we look at in appropriator the 80 names itself which means they're processing positive in school where school function in the increase in place and I can say are we that me as
a principal I want to father's school culture and when you have sometimes of not as much of those resources on the ground would be proactive in order to maintain that positive school culture there's more discipline employed to maintain that same level of school culture when you have the same expectations now as we did five years ago we expect the students to be achieving right academically but seems to be behaving and treat each other with respect and acting as assistants to each other to the teachers so sometimes when those resources are there this one has to be employed at higher level to maintain that student culture versus letting in a road which we won't allow allow that that negative student culture to drive the deposit of soot culture away we also so seconds that would be
we had a extremely discipline related to ninth grade class more than I've ever seen in my entire time not discouraging ninth grade class as a whole we have struggled individuals in that box that had four to five suspects at each so if you take that that out that would equate to probably I would say that the 20 or so proper than that number we try to take the banner suits and again that spirit of what the guidance counselor do teachers are doing Todd and Lindsay are doing a lot of things selfie ice except that in the beginning in year they had a cup suspension we got them with resources and support and got the back of the truck some of them did not something continue to do what we try to do with them I'm
talking the electric strictures I'm talking packages I'm talking bathroom restrictions I'm talking parent means everything that you could possibly management of something just didn't work so I think that that also led to some that increase when you look at the a teenage particular going from from 918 50 percent increase percent increase over overall society our our society and our city districts as well as society in general working with an epidemic and there is a heavy substance use here our community this heavy stuff is in Jersey and across the nation throughout our Carson it's a very very heavy problem our County does not have a lot of resources support and they're innovative we have we have students waiting to get counseling magnet evaluation testing positive for a month and it has nothing to do it that
not try they can't get in some place so we work with that student offices because it's not it's not Emma the parents it's on reasonable so that is getting an indicator of what's going on we have a lot of hurt and some lives of students and sometimes and act out aspect of that it's not really the this is a symptom of something going on so our art goal our job focus teachers counselors administrators for step is to get at the heart of what's really going off that student you know it's act out that many times well because that's how they're raised the whole time with it because they have family because there are some decisions themselves what is it that we cannot control to help support them because not only is a discipline indicate this
and also the academics I think it gives us a very few for between we have student that's had a high level discipline and not a goal of like it every usually handing in a couple months here and then they don't see that back what on the positive side many continue to really a lot of those resources in room 120 councils that have proactive measures to help with that situation we also see a lot of change and our tenth grade students in maturity level that oftentimes happens when I'm banking on that but that's all kinds of big cases as well and then time and then see obviously continue to work with here is our here's our our bar right student expectations and we're going to help you all along the way and support you to get
to that bar we're not going to level that part of the positive City culture life is not fair to the 95 percent of the rest of the culture getting really talking about even these numbers you break down the actual numbers to their students your your lesson five eight percent we was like anaphors would like for us to work hand in hand as far as the whole you know policies our only friend you know and I'm a reading specialist nobody needs and policies yes so we were like a coalition of us to be together to say this is what's going to happen this is program into how we are going to ID our populations of of need and we know the freshmen coming in as you know are very vulnerable and I have a problems my
own people teachers say well you know we got rid of levels and we did this and this and this no all children are all children and we're all the same no matter what so we just need the verification and maybe making a formation with the board and with John and the superintendent to say you know I can't read that 25 page policy we need to know where we stand wealthy and they won but the kids were our most vulnerable where comes in you know because you know we have special lady a regular in it and guidance counselors and we have child study team members and this is where we get lost in to what is real the standard of how we handle everything and it should be the same for everybody I don't know that
that's realistic that of the same my I think I get what you're saying there has to be like job there has to be a point where where there's an accept like there's a like what this is the bar a reason the car teacher yeah that's HPA others don't know what that r is so like the school like the easier policy plan yes yes i will be following we communicate and curcumin hanging as a community because these are our kids as a community and that's saying it's his fault we need to know how are you know all of this I'm sure it's going to be in place I'm just saying we need everybody on board to say we have you know society today forget about thank you [Music] to provide their instruction for children the county
and large probably only gets about very little and so what every single year need denied title three funds because their consent and so this year the superintendent compact home decided he was going to leave the charge for a consortium we have tried to do this for the last three years to no avail but apparently art decided short art let's do it and we only get $185 for Title 3 so we're do is we're handing that consortium on our [Music] weekend and some paperwork the man I think in the past we didn't really discuss the paperwork that we've had in the past we didn't file because it wasn't worth all the trouble for the no money we were going to get when you write the Greg you have to click on the radio button and I
