Thank you for your time and for continuing to support our students and school events. Thank you. [applause] Okay, we now have a presentation for the by Mr. Dr. B. Dr. B. He's my friend. Okay. So, I'm going to move Good. Thank you. [clears throat] All right. Good evening. So, in
the yearly cycle of uh harassment, intimidation, and bullying reporting, um we're at the part of the year where we're self-reporting our data. Over the summer, each um school reported their SSDs data or school safety data system data. That's all instances of harassment, intimidation, bullying, and other incidents um that need to be filed with the state. Due at the end of this month is the second part of that, which is our school self assessment. Um each school principal or designate goes through and uh self-grades based on their assessment of how their schools did as far as different uh criterias for HIV implementation. Um so each school was asked to complete uh or to assess eight core elements. These elements were their hip programs and school safety team, their trainings on policy, staff instruction and training such
as suicide prevention and hip prevention curriculum and instruction on HIP um how it's interwoven into the curriculum as well as the week of respect HIP personnel. So the uh anti-bullying specialist, anti-bullying coordinator, myself and the school safety team, the HIP reporting procedures for each school, their investigation procedure as far as its notification completion and reporting and then lastly HIP reporting. So um this and the SSDS that I had earlier [clears throat] alluded to. Each school um scored themselves in each of these criteria from zero to three. Zero being not effective, two being meeting. So that's important. Two is we're meeting where they want to be and then three is exceeding. Um the overall total 78 is the highest one could earn. 52 would be meeting in all areas. Um, and one very important uh caveat,
it does ask at the end of each one of these if the school district permitted preliminary determination. That's where a principal prior to um a hit being investigated can do a short investigation and decide whether to do the total investigation. We as a district do not do that. So, anybody that uh reports a HIV, that HI is fully investigated each time. We do not ever use the principal principles determination to go around doing the full investigation for him. I'm going to quickly um kind of go through these. I don't want to uh spell each one out, but so this is for the Early Learning Center, and you'll see there's the the eight core elements as I go through and what they self-record their score to be. All right, you see at the at the very
end uh their final score was a 67 out of a possible uh 78. Reminder again 52 is meeting where we should be. So um 67 is pushing towards that exceeding level for Bulger. So again 52 meeting for Caruso [snorts] 69 total score and then lastly the high school. I know I'm going to resp these uh will go up on the website as well. So, they'll be available there. The high school spot score 65. Um so again, just [laughter] to review, early learning center 67, Bulger 52, uh Caruso 69, and the high school 65. Um all pushing towards that exceeding. Um and all above the minimum well the 52 that's the minimum for meeting. Does anybody have any questions? The self assessment is like does the state come in and to assess at some point? No.
So what the state does is they take our self assessment as well as our reported data um incidents and such and they use that to compile a grade [clears throat] of it. That's when you'll see me again um in the later half of the year reporting out the grades. Thank you. Why was the both your schools so significantly lower than the other schools? Um again, it's a self assessment. They score themselves harder. So it is subjective in the fact that it's whoever's scoring it and some expect more sometimes and so they score themselves a little bit harder. Okay. Thanks. Thank you. [applause] Thank you. [cough] Yes. Committee reports. I just have one. Thank you, Mr. President. Good evening, everyone. The finance committee was held earlier this uh this evening. Nothing new to report. Bills were
overviewed and uh just if everybody would like to take a quick moment to take a look at number five on the business administrators reported the agenda, the approval of the budget calendar. It's always very significant for the school district as we plan for the next year ahead. And also uh big kudos to the administrative team here as we're now approving not one, two or three but four grants for approval. So uh definitely definitely great that we sir there will be no executive session. There's no executive session. Yes. What else there? Uh we'll now open it up to comments and questions related to the board agenda items only. Please come up, say your name. See none, we'll close that. Moving forward, there's no executive session. We'll now open the meeting for public and comments. Questions related to uh the agenda. for any concerns, please come up. State your name. Seeing none, we'll close that. Any old or new communications? Um, Mr. Clayton, I'm going to start with you this time. Mr. Cook, I just wanted to say that it was a fantastic time at the NJSBA annual conference with everybody that attended. It surely was a
learning experience. Um, I also want to just remind everybody here in the board that the Mammoth County School Board meeting will be held on December 2nd, particularly that we're thinking of December in October, but it's going pretty fast. So, just wanted to give everybody a little reminder. Uh, school year's been going pretty well. So, I understand there's always a little hiccup here and there, but I haven't heard anything. Everything's been always great, especially from the food to the security to education. Really a great job, Kathleen, and the rest of the administration. Thank you. Again, what was it? $330,000 roughly in grants. So, it's really shows achievement. Christine's been very busy. Yes, she always is. [clears throat] So, thank you. Yes, sir. So, we talked about the school year and we look at September and we
look at kids in discipline and thank you to the administrative team, our teachers, our support, security. It's working. If we look year over year, we see beginning of September, they're getting back from summer, they're having a great time. And then September's a little rough, but we're seeing improvement. The numbers are down. They're down pretty darn good for the beginning and several of us discussed it. So, thank you. The message is out. It shows by the numbers. Uh, one school's a little bit harder on themselves, I think, than others and stuff, but it's a tough age. It's a tough group of kids, right? Because they're coming out of a an elementary school. They're getting into the puberty session and everything else, and then they're getting ready for high school. So I mean you all do a
good job. You put your heart and soul into it every day and we really appreciate it. So thank you. Mr. Ku student representatives, they did a great job. Dr. Bird, thank you for coming and doing the presentation. Thank you everybody for being here. Hope all the kids have a happy Halloween. Stay safe. Mel, Mr. K basically just said everything I have on my list here. So I want to thank student reps for coming. I think it's good to have them back and we miss in the first meeting. I want to thank Mr. Bird for his presentation. Um I still think the the difference between him versus bad behavior gets lost sometimes that there's a very specific definition of what is harassment, intimidation, and bullying and what is kids doing what kids sometimes do and should
not be doing. Um so doing all that work to to make sure that we're investigating those to see if they're truly hibs. I know people often say my kids that bullying is happening and unfortunately it doesn't meet the definition of that. So, um it's important that we keep on hearing about it. Um looking forward to the Titan 5K. I don't think I'm bringing anybody. We keep on. It's only 5K, but um that's it. And uh just have a happy and safe Halloween. Mr. Bennett, nothing except happy Halloween. Thank you, sir. Sir, nothing. I have a couple things. So, yes, the Hoff family and Task Force M East will have the most representatives in the Titan 5K. I wrote that down. Um fall sports are coming to an end. So, if you haven't had a chance
to get out there to see our student athletes, I strongly advise that you try and make time. It's incredible. Our football team, we're holding our own. We're playing some big schools, but you know what? Hey, it's okay. Our our field looks amazing when the other teams show up and they see how our equipment and our field looks. It's pretty cool. Father time. I don't know. Everything Mr. Johnson touches turns to gold. That trunk of treat was amazing. the kids. You see the kids and when the kids see their teachers from school on a day off, it's kind of pretty amazing how they interact with each other that, hey, they have an impact on my life. Even when we're not in school, they'll run up and get a big Congress. Um, we just talked about this.
Next Wednesday is the end of the first market period. So, sand is slipping through the hourglass for our seniors and we just got here last week in September. So, I also want to thank my board of education members for walking with me in the convention. We learned a lot. I like to think I did. Uh, one of the biggest things that when people saw our shirts, they say Kingsburg, we do the right thing all the time. I always wonder like who does the wrong thing? We only know one way, but when somebody else compliments you that you guys do the right thing, it's pretty amazing. Halloween is coming up, so there are some curfews in town. I believe mischief tonight is 7 o'clock. I believe Halloween is 8 o'clock for the curfews. So, please uh
we can get that out to the students. I believe the hops of Rwanda will hand out fullsize candy bars. So, um there is a blood drive. I challenge everyone. I get platelets. So, if you can get platelets, please come. I'll be there. Our student ambassadors and that's all I have. I accept a motion to to go home to watch the World Series. I'll post that then. Okay. Mr. Petition. I'll second by Mr. Cook. All in favor? Thank you everyone. And again, thank you for coming. Thank you.
