I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >>
May I have a motion for executive session? >> Motion. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. >> Any questions? Can I have a motion, please? >> Approval of the agenda. Can I? >> And we're back. >> Second. >> Approval
of the agenda. Second. Thank you. Any questions? All in favor? >> I. >> Motion carries. Okay. Public comment. Agenda items only. The board of education now welcomes the public comment on the items which are on our agenda tonight. It may not always be possible or appropriate for the board to directly answer questions during the public comment period. Each speaker is allowed a maximum of three minutes to make their statement. No one may speak more than once on the same topic. You are required to give your name, address before speaking. Please keep your comments respectful and non-defamy and maintain the level of the quorum appropriate for a public meeting where minors may be in the audience. >> Excuse me, Chris. Did we skip over approval of minutes? >> We did. >> I think No, no, no.
This is just for >> this is for the one for next week. >> Okay. Sorry. So this will be during the board work session. >> Sure. >> Thanks for looking. >> All right. I see no problem with comment. Going to close that. Number eight, board work session discussion of March 10th, 2026 draft board agenda. All right. So we'll open that. Any questions? We'll go section by section number eight. Or do you have a question mark? >> No, just I was going to mention unless someone has a question before that the bills and claims. I know Dennis wanted to review it. >> Yeah, I did review with Carl. was a productive session. Um, I don't have any issue with the bills. However, I just want to mention for the good of the order. I think it
the board may benefit uh in the future when there's something that's not contracted or or a stated budget reoccurring line item where we may have some kind of um some some added um meat to the bone so to speak where where um you guys can have a a further explanation be it legal fees or janitorial supplies or any of those things that could be a variable in a given month where one singular line item might not be easily understood. when reviewing the bills in that session. Carl and I talked about that a little bit and um we thought that'd be a good item to at least mention to the board for those who review in the future and for our future edification. So otherwise it was a productive session >> and and that reminds me
are we getting a monthly statement for the legal bills every month? I know we did last. >> Okay. So previously when you were board president to send you I haven't received any direction >> as to where to send it now or if you want to send >> Yeah, you can send it directly to the entire board. That's fine. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Um I have a question on the facilities report. Just I know there's been a lot of pictures shared on social media and amongst the public regarding our um leaks. Of course, we live in we we have a building a few buildings that are very old. Can you just speak to what has been done and what the teachers and the students should expect in the coming weeks as far as repairing the
leaks that are in the hallways and classrooms? >> Sure. So with the first snowstorm or after the first snowstorm, we discovered the first round of leaks. They were in sections of the frog pond roof that are still under warranty but have never been repaired. The areas of the roof that were repaired under warranty previously were holding up and did not have leaks. A call was put out. Trimco, who is the roofing contractor that installed the roof, came out to assess the roof, what had to be done with it, set up a schedule to come back, and right before that, we got hit with the second snowstorm, which postponed that schedule, resulting in additional leaks in the same areas. Once uh they can gain access to the roof without snow and can do the repairs, they
will be out to do those repairs. In the interim, prior to the second snowstorm, we set up all of our HEPA filters into the classrooms that did have roof leaks, you know, in them and the hallways in different areas. So, those filters were up and running throughout the second snowstorm. We also uh maintained walkthroughs of the buildings on every day that we were closed whether it be a Saturday, Sunday or for the snow closings to again assess damage and uh keep an eye on the buildings for us. The ceiling tiles that were damaged were re were repaired, replaced. um even though they probably will leak again in some of the spots, but at least it's a it gives a better, you know, feeling to the the room that the kids are in. There was only
one classroom that was actually relocated due to the leaks that were in that classroom, and that was done immediately um through the principal on the day that the leaks were discovered. I also had the air quality um company come out which they were out yesterday. They did they assessed the building. They did a sampling of I believe six or seven areas in classrooms. Those results did come back in this afternoon that we are free of any mold air issues. Our air quality was fine as compared to the air quality outside. So, we don't have any issues like that in these rooms or in the hallways or in the building. As soon as the snow is cleared, they'll be out to repair the roof. Uh the roof is at its end of life. approximately 20 years
ago, 19 or 20 years ago, it was put on and we are setting up for a new roof as part of our solar project that once we receive our approvals for, we're hoping that for this summer, uh, the new roof is put on prior to the new solar panels being installed. >> And that's the update for today. >> Thank you. And when the snow clears and everything, are we going to fill in the potholes in the parking lots? >> Yes. Yes. It's all weather related at this point. >> Any other questions for action items uh 13A through F. All right, seeing none. Number two, facilities. Any questions on facilities? Okay. >> I had a question on how the fee schedule works for that. I know we had policy 7510. Are they >> nonprofit? >> Okay.
>> So, they provide the the nonprofit status and then they don't have to pay based upon the policy that the board wrote. >> But isn't um sports nonprofit as well? >> No. Not if they collect money for their organization then they are not nonprofit. Okay. I don't know if we have that language in there. 501c3 or >> I thought we did, but I can double check. >> Okay. I can look it up, too. >> Okay. Because I know we had classrooms. All right. Thank you. >> All right. Number three, non-personnel issues A through C. I looked at um page five, attachment one, financial report, corrective action plans. I just had a couple of questions for Carl. Attachment one. I know they're huge attachments, but the attachment one, I know there were corrective action plans on
page 45 of that document. And I just wanted to understand that better. Um, on page, let's see, first of all, 45 Carl, the pension liabilities, public employees retirement system. all these all these um documented like real estate what does that mean target allocation long-term expected real rate of return are these things we're getting in the district >> okay I >> were they under what you're looking at apologize I don't have them in front of me >> are you looking at the audit comments >> no it's >> because the corrective action plan only relates to the comments >> that were the findings that >> this is page 45 of the first attachment and and I believe in the same document talks about the corrective action plans for like tuition contracts. I know you had said we
have those. We didn't have them at time of audit. So what are the corrective action plans in terms of the >> So the the corrective action plan should be the I believe it's attachment three. Okay, >> if you open it up and it relates to the findings from the audit. I believe there were three findings and that's what's on the corrective action plan. The only items that appear on a corrective action plan are findings from the audit report. >> And as you said, these things were in the past. So it was the calculation of health insurance. Yes. >> The tuition contracts, but they were found. >> Yes. >> Okay. preschool education. Okay. Yes. >> And again, these these are items that happened prior to June 30th of last year. >> Okay. >> I'm aware of
that. I just opened attachment one and I just like to understand the um the interest that's that's being um acrewed, if that's the right word, on page 45. You don't have it. >> I don't have it in front of me either, but if you if you call me during the day, I will >> I can pull it up for you. >> All right. Any other questions? >> Moving on to superintendent action items. It's just with uh I guess it goes into page six under staffing. I was just I was curious how the cafeteria playground aids hourly rate compares to um some of our other hourly rates. Like I don't know how many hours they're working a day. The $10,000 is that comparable to Paris. Slightly under. I believe it's under. >> Okay. Um some of
the carers that are paid slightly over minimum wage, it's comparable to to their salaries. >> But are the playground aids paid at minimum wage? >> Currently, they are. >> Thank you. I had a question too on the bottom of six. Um the 195 per day, what does that work out to be an hour? That's for the ESY, right? >> 32 something. Almost 33. >> Okay. And >> I think it's comparable to what their annual salary is when I did the math. Carl, you can correct me. >> Yes. >> Okay. How many hours are they actually putting in? >> It'll wind up being slightly under 29.5. >> Okay. to make the the two runs per day. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Can you talk a little bit about the summer high impact tutoring program? >>
That is a grant >> that we will target. >> We don't know if we received it yet. It was just submitted. It was uh due. Mrs. Gallagher submitted that grant. We'll know if we get it. and students, our tier 2 students have been identified and we'll see what we can do to uh assist them in not regressing over the summer. >> So, we'll have more information if the grant gets approved for it. >> Well, what type of notice we'll be giving our teachers that are who might be under the assumption that they're going to be working in the summer and if we do not receive the grant. >> So, when when they applied for the position, it was outlined accordingly. So, they're aware. Yes. When will be when will they be notified? >> As soon
as we get the grant, they'll be notified. >> What date should we receive notification? >> Um um I wish I could tell you that for sure. I can try to find out, but I could. I appreciate it. >> I could try. Yeah. >> Is that like >> It's the state the state approves it, not us. >> So, if we can find out. >> So, this something new this year. >> We've had that. >> We We did this previous I believe to my being here. It was done after school. We did it during the school year last year and then now they're going to do it over the summer for targeted students. >> Correct. >> Any other questions? >> Where are we up to now? Um, >> so the superintendent >> how are we doing with
substitutes? Are we >> Do we have enough of a pool? I guess is my question. I feel like we never have enough substitutes. We uh Mrs. Tresolino is consistently hiring subs, interviewing subs. Whether they go in and take the jobs is up to them, but we are consistently hiring and and um people are working. >> But just to be competitive, Pylines is currently paying $175 a day. So, I don't know if we're losing out to them. That's why I'm asking if we're ever if we're ever without subs. It might be something that we have to look into for next year. and even even a marketing program like do we how do we get the word out about it >> other than just word of mouth and Facebook is there any kind of targeted marketing >>
yep they're on the system and we put it out there when we put out for other jobs as well >> and just to give an idea today was Stockton's job and career fair and internships it might have been a good thing for someone to attend there maybe moving forward in the future anyone who's to be a teacher um to get that practice, that additional thing if they're going taking classes at night might be something you're interested in. >> Yeah. Like I know um NJ School Jobs has virtual job fairs and inerson job fairs. We may not have teaching positions, but we could offer that as a step into the district substitutes. We also post these things on njschooljob.com and we all are dealing with probably every district is dealing with a change across the country
but that we want to do our best for us >> but I do think we need to look at what our salary is for a day to compare district so that we're competitive so substitutes want to come to us um I mean that's the reason that we increased it the last time um so that's why I just wanted to know where we are in that position. >> 175. >> Yes. >> Is that a new number? When did they do that? >> I don't know, but I I saw it on last night's agenda. >> And how long ago did raise the >> It was after CO. >> Okay. >> I think Patty was here. >> No, it was pre Patty. I might have been pre- Laura. Sorry, Laura. I didn't say it like that. But were
you here for that? >> What is it? Yes, it has to be before you because um Denise Gina's seat was on the board. So that was before you. So when did you join the board? 23 or 22? >> Well, I I took her place. >> Okay. So yes, 22. So uh 2021. >> Okay. >> So it's been a while. >> Okay. Moving on. >> Wait. Oh, one second. In regards to leave of absences, I'm looking at that and right now we have numbers and their department. So, it's kind of, you know, that's helpful. We have the department listed placement. >> We did last time that service. Okay. >> Yeah. I don't remember seeing >> place, right? So, that really helps. >> I don't think that changed. I'd have to go back and look. I think
that remains. The only thing that we ever adjusted was that number. But >> all right. Non-personnel items. >> Okay. The calendar. >> Which >> this? Let's start with this year. >> Okay. because I I I think we have to look at what Pelands is doing. Um, I think it's I mean I actually had a discussion with my sister-in-law who no longer has I forget where where the article was that she read it um school age children but she's like what if families planned a trip and if we have ed if we have attendance as a district goal we have to think about that in this year's making up of snow days and in the future. And she's 100% right. To write a line that says do not make plans that you cannot change does nothing
for working parents. Like we have to make plans 6 months in advance if minimum if we're and depending on what field of work you're in. My husband was in the state police. January 1, he had to select all of his vacation days for the entire year. So parents have to plan to just throw a day in there and say that. Have we looked at at Pineland's calendar? I think that might have been a hint toward the teachers too, not planning, you know, >> but they have children also, >> right? Just like everybody. >> But we like you can't, you know, not make plans for Easter week in the event that there's a snow day. If I have if I have to take time off from work, most likely I'm going to be hopefully going away
somewhere. I'm not going to be sitting at home in the event that there's a snow day. >> And if one day's taken off, you take that day. you know, it's not that much of a >> I guess I'm concerned too, you know, they have the right to take a sick day also. It's not like right there's nothing mandating that. >> But anyway, with regards to that, I believe Pine Lands pulled back um what day did they pull back, Chris? Good Friday, April 3rd. So for um >> Good Friday, >> well ours is an early dismissal also, isn't it? >> No, we're off on Good Friday. >> I know, but they made Good Friday early dismissal, but also as in our extra day, we made it a full day >> at the end of the end
of the year based um request. >> Wait, >> not take Yeah. >> Oh, so we didn't take away from >> We did not pull from >> Okay. Uh we did not take Good Friday. What we took was the 10th. That's an option in option B. Come back on the 10th. >> April 10th. We we kept Good Friday intact because national holiday >> but we don't have a copy of next year's. >> Yeah. I got 225. >> We have Yeah. Because Okay. So the request was to have multiple calendars for A and B for how are we going to >> how are we going to take care of resolve this calendar first before we get to next year's calendar. So that's what we're looking at because we've got to let the community know about this year's
calendar first and we had adjusted it and then we had a snow day. So we had we had to readjust it. >> Is there any reason those 18th and 19th can't be full dates? >> I think that we talked I think I can't remember if we actually talked about it or if I thought it. Didn't we talk about that last time where the teachers needed the time to take care of their classrooms? Did we actually talk about that? >> Yeah, we did. >> Is it in the contract? Yes. >> For them to have >> half days. A certain number of half days. >> I don't believe so. No, >> but this we didn't change that. That was approved when the board approved the calendar last year. All we did was move them back. That's all.
>> We didn't they weren't full days and we made them half days. They were they were approved originally at early business >> three days no matter what what day >> four days correct going on the 23rd and the 22nd that's a half day as well in four days >> the it was the original calendar had the 15th to the 18th so those were four days as early dismissal days for students. So and that's the way the calendar had originally been approved last year. what we did this year, we we just pushed it back to make up for the time. >> And my recall is those last days while the kids exit, teachers are able to finalize their their grade books, finalize their classrooms are closing to the summer. >> Yes. >> So, the only thing
that changed on this calendar now is our last day is the 23rd >> for for calendar >> for this year. for calendar A. For calendar B, we're still ending on the 22nd, but then we would have to come back on April 10th. Friday, April 10th, the Friday of spring break. >> So from spring, >> I was asked to provide options and that's what I did. And the reason why we went to spring break was because the calendar said go to spring break. So that's why we did it. It wasn't an arbitrary decision that I said go to spring break. I think closing the year out on the 22nd to Dr. Snider's point, let's get the year finished and people may have plans. >> No, no, I'm more about Easter break because if I Easter break
is what I'm a month away. >> I'm with you. I was I was making the I was I was making the point the general point of let's get into the summer. Let's try and keep the back the 22nd intact is my view. >> Let's come back on the 10th. Um, and if someone's got something they have to take a day, they take a day. >> Take a personal day, a sick day. But let's >> confirm the last day would be the 23rd. >> I'm looking at B. >> Okay. I'm looking at B. >> Okay. If you're looking at B, that would I think what you're saying is don't take off of spring break. You know what I'm saying? >> No, I'm saying B takes off. It It lops off the 10th. >> Yes. And >>
for the sake of the 23rd. >> Yes, it does. Correct. Right. Because the 23rd is awful late to get out. >> It's late. Yeah, >> the 22nd. You're already spilling into that week. >> I know, but we have to do our 184 days. >> I think the less disruption is going to be overall. The rest disruption is just tack it on at the end and carry this calendar out for next year. We have to build snow days in so that if we don't have any snow days, we can just take them off >> or extend or extend like Memorial Day or whatever. >> Yeah, we'll have more. No. So, we we've done that in the past and had and then then there was no snow that year and then kids had a five day week
weekend. >> But I guess that's great for some people, but >> that disrupts if you're a working parent again. >> What are you supposed to do? >> There are at least in the summer in my opinion, it's just mine and if parents want to come forward next week, I would really greatly appreciate it to hear people's viewpoints. But there's camps in the summer. You can plan camps from, you know, when school gets out until the end of summer. Um, there used to be places, I'm not even kidding, that used to have camp on Easter break week, and I've used it, but that only works when Easter break falls on the same spring break falls on the same week as Passover in many cases because that's when other schools are out. And so, it doesn't always
work. Summer always works. um you can find stuff for your kids to do if you need to. Um >> and I think parents pretty much um bankked on those half days actually at the end of the year, >> you know. >> No, I don't I don't I didn't I never banked on them. >> Banganked on them for what though? >> For when I raised my kids, we always had half days at the last couple of days, last two, three days of the school year. >> This is four. It's almost an entire week. >> No, it's it's three on the one I'm looking at. Wait, I'm sorry. >> The purple just indicates the last day of school. >> The last day of school. It's it's for and and what the what the calendar was approved of
originally last >> last year was for >> Yeah, that's nothing new. It's just >> we have to decide next year. >> Yeah. Moving forward, I don't want that many >> in my opinion. But >> I think the goal should be to end the 19th or earlier next year. >> Yeah. Try not to get >> Can we focus on this year first? So for this year, I think the least disruptive thing is just to add it to the end of the year. >> So >> a >> Oh, you like a >> I like a guy. >> I like >> So we'll have to see what our colleagues think as well. I mean, if you're going to go to Easter and as much as I'm against it, then you need to match Highlands because what if older
siblings are watching >> younger siblings as match us? >> Oh, >> not yet. >> If theirs was approved, >> I mean that discussion should have been had also just so that we are um you know on the same line. I've had kids in both schools and it can be challenging when Well, this won't affect buses or anything, right? If we're taking a day off spring break, >> I don't know because we'll be in session. >> Correct. >> Right. >> Will it cost us extra since we're not on the same day as plans? >> No, our contract calls for 180 days. >> Okay. >> I confirm that. >> Thank you. >> Um Lisa, on the electronic version, I only see one um AV. I only see A >> uh >> is a attached twice? >> Then
then the other one is next year's calendar. >> Oh, okay. Because I'm uh I'm looking at A and I'm looking at B on on my electronic. So that's just So we'll look at that, Chris, because >> I just want to make sure that our colleagues have both. Yeah, >> I electronically I only have a on the electronic attachment, but I have both here now. >> Okay, that's weird. I literally have seen A and B here. Okay, >> so we'll make sure we >> I have be on mine. >> You have See, I have be on mine, too. >> It's on the March 3rd workshop. >> You have to go to the workshop one. >> Oh, >> I clipped into the >> because that's where I was looking, too. >> Yeah. like a breaker. >> Yeah.
So, you could just throw that in on >> this too, I guess, because this is going to be the final >> for the for the 10th the agenda on the 10th. >> Correct. >> So, I'm a for that one. >> A and two B's >> for tie breakers. >> All right. 26 27 next year. >> Let me find that one. >> That's in the the 10th. >> So, can I ask why does the PD have to be on the 28th? Is there any reason that that could not be offered before Labor Day? We can do whatever. It's it's difficult to um I will tell you that it's difficult to plan that prior to that time. >> But >> difficult or impossible? >> Difficult. Nothing nothing very little is impossible. >> I mean because they're just
they've just gotten back into school for especially if we have as large of a special ed population as we're seeing. Consistency I think is important and a routine. And so we're going to get into school for plus year for three weeks and then we're going to have a half day. It's half day. >> Is there other districts around the county >> that is there rationale for that 28th? >> Some some do. Some actually have off uh >> some days in September that we in October that we do not have >> for Yes. >> Yes. So, >> so >> it's it's it's all over the place. >> So, but in September, Dr. Snyder, we don't have any early time as teacher for teachers to ramp in and understand >> policies and procedures for the year. I
would beg to differ that that PDA should be in the first days. >> So, the first two the first and second that's what goes that's what the staff goes over with the >> There it is. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. There is. Thank you. And then and then the reason why we thought about the be early in the year is because that's when we're ramping up with students. That's when we're talking about the benchmark the assessment calendar, you know, that sort of thing. >> You're saying on the 28th? >> Yes. >> Yeah. So I guess the the wheels the train gets moving down the track and then you can finally get a vibe on early indicators of classroom and early diagnostics and that sets the stage for just set up into the entire the first half
of the year. I can see the rationale for a PD day. I'm just not sure if it's the right day. >> And yeah and just like historically the Friday before Labor Day is still summer hours. So, we live in a short community and expecting everyone to be here a full day on the Friday before Labor Day, I just I think is unrealistic. I know it's September in theory, but um in the past, we've only had teachers come back that week and then students have started the Tuesday after Memorial Day. And again, for consistency for the district, I think several districts do it this way though. They do. They bring more and more I'm seeing it that they're going back soon. I think parents are ready for kids to go back in the shore community especially.
>> I mean is there any way to just have like three or four days like those four days be PD days and then bring the kids back on Tuesday? >> I don't know that I would recommend four straight days of PD. I I'd have to have some discussions, but I I don't I don't believe that would be util I don't believe that would be useful PD. >> It's very overwhelming those first couple days of school. As a teacher, as an administrator, I don't think it would be useful PD personally. >> But I think we don't we have one full day of P like what if we made that Thursday a full day of PD, give teachers off on Friday, and then that only pulls us into June 18th. Sorry, where are we back? >> School.
>> We're in September. >> School is in session on the 4th. >> No, no. >> Three days of Pday. Where's the three days? >> One, two, >> I don't think the one day is P date, is it? Isn't this the one day the teachers have for themselves? >> Yes. I think the second they have for themselves. >> One of those days they have for themselves. >> Let's be honest, they come in earlier than that. Some do. Yes, many do. Actually, I do office. >> Many do. >> So, what if you did three days of PD and then give off the Friday and start on the 8th and then have all the rest of September active? Yeah, because well, couldn't we get rid of that 12th and gain back a day or what's that PD day
for? >> 12th, right? February. Sorry. >> Are you February? >> February 12th is a PD day. >> So that's before it's backed up to that weekend of the 15th. So it basically makes for a a PD day. Gets the kids out >> earlier if they have a longer weekend. Yeah, but the issue is I mean we have another winter like we had LA this year. >> Could you do the PDA PD day virtual? >> I know some of the schools did that when it was closed whether you know because it's so close to school that they changed it to PD day. I don't think it's as effective to be a school. >> Where where are the end of are we forgive me? Mark periods >> trimesters trimesters. >> Where's the end? >> Well, we have
to figure out the calendar before we can figure out. >> Okay. I'm wondering how that would fall. That's why I'm asking, >> right? >> Try to work around that. >> Yeah. Correlation. Teachers could certainly use those days to ramp in and out of trimesters. >> And we also are usually doing data dives at those at those junctures. >> Have we hit our goals and where are we mid year? >> Where are we? >> What do we need to tweak? What do we need to adjust? >> I'm okay with a PD day backed up to a weekend where kids have off. It just it keeps it clean. >> But to your point about snow and I don't know if we can like we had >> I think this November holiday is really ridiculous. There's not enough.
>> Yeah, I think we get rid of that and that's really that's the only way that we could you know >> what the first week >> that November week other than the teachers convention >> teachers convention election day right >> we are not required to close use the schools for election >> yeah so 56 would definitely be off but I just think it's silly it's just not fair to the kids either just It's the 180 days thing, right? So we're contractually we teach we're in school for 180 days. Break it up. So you can argue where is the continu where let's create continuity. How how do you create the continuity and u taking those days back because here then you have half days for the 17th 18th 19th right for conferences. I'm with you. But
where do you So if you're going to take them back in November, you got to put them back in there somewhere because the calendar equates to 180 days, which is contractually what the teachers are. >> Teachers are 184. >> 184. Yep. >> Okay. So 184 that those blue days off get the teachers to 184. You take them out now teachers are in in session longer and that's not part of the collective bargain. >> Am I right? >> Right. Correct. So it's just >> well we were just taking them out and just giving us cushion at the end of the year >> you put them towards the end of the year >> and then this way we just get out earlier too in the event that there is snow >> because that would if we got
rid of those three days and we brought back a day from the Friday before Labor Day. So that's four days. Well wait three 3 minus one is two days. Um that would push us back to the 15th. There were snow days. Then we would just finish out that week like you had wanted Chris, right? >> Yeah, I think they finished on the 11th. >> Oh, wa. That's right. >> Ambition. And I'm looking at the notes. The notes that someone provided, are these from the union? >> There are. Yes. Yes. And we what we did was we went ahead and we aggregated them, disagregated them so that we could get an idea. And it's just like it's it's a similar discussion to what the board is having. Everyone's all over the place. Everyone has an opinion
and everyone's all over the place. >> So whoever made this cited this note, whether it was someone in the teachers unit, it says, "Please do not have the full week off in November. Just the two convention days, please." exclamation point. And then you got another one that says, "I like to have that." >> Oh, is that right? Oh, yes. But there's more than one that asked for it to be put back in. I don't remember. >> There were, I believe, I'm I'm trying to find the there because I I put it in here. There were, I believe, 17 or 19 responses. Let me let me find it exactly. And they were contradictory. All of them were contradictory. >> And so to finish that comment that was started, says beginning summer break three days earlier would
be much more appreciated. >> So, was it you doc that just said move it to the back end? Yes. >> Right. >> I love a fall break, frankly, as a teacher. And I'm like, bring it on. >> I love it. >> I don't get a fall break. So, >> listen, neither does my wife and I go all the time. >> Spring break is next week for me. >> Just like, you know, with our absentee rate, I just think the continuity is better. >> Well, that's where we're going to get them. academics >> like if we could get them then and get them in the momentum going. That's >> right. >> So in terms of the information that they received from the association, 19 people out of all staff, 19 responded, seven want to start after
Labor Day. Four want to do the full week off in November. Three want a built-in snow day. Two want to keep the week off in November. Three said to leave the calendar as it stands. >> So that was how we just and that was only 19. So we didn't even get from a large portion of the and that came that information came from the association >> and so in past practice 2025 we have the week off and probably the year prior and what's the rest of the county >> how many years before that you guys have >> but also to my knowledge even the admin building has a half day on the Friday before Labor Day historically >> I'd have to go back and look I don't have that >> did you work last Friday
the full day before Labor Day? >> Me? >> Yeah. >> Say, ask me that question one more time. >> The Friday before Labor Day, was it a full day or was it a half day? >> Right. >> Last year >> I It was I had just started, so I'm not sure. >> Last year, you did not just start. That was your second year. >> According to >> Oh, so according to this calendar, that's that's this calendar that we're looking at now. >> Fourth, >> right? So they were off everybody. Well, was off for half day. I'm talking about admin building. >> Whatever everybody has is what the admin work. >> No, we have summer hours. It's only now days. >> Oh, no. Summer hours end, I think. >> Okay. >> Yeah, summer hours and and
at the end of August summer hours, >> you said, do you have those notes in front of you from the teachers union? What was the um subject heading? I'm trying to find it. um calendar feedback from association survey on the communicator. >> No, that was that was uh the association sent it to me and then D >> Chris, you sent it to me February 10th. >> Cal feedback from association. Yes. >> So, let's let's just think of like in principle, what are we trying to accomplish? Do we want continuity? Do we want teachers to have breaks, strategic breaks within the school year? Do we want to end the school year earlier? What are we trying to accomplish? >> End the school year earlier and >> continuity both continuity and avoid a week off in November.
This gets us out on the 17th of June. >> And then if there's snow days, I would just say snow days like already built in. Not like we'll add snow days in the event that >> there is snow like just say these are snow days and then if there is no snow we will end on this date. >> How many snow days are you seeking to go? >> Or you could take >> I would say at least two. I don't You take the 26th >> or three. >> You could take off the three days in November and >> and they could be built in. >> That's what I'm saying. >> No, no. Is their offer ready? >> Sorry. >> No, you're going to they'll be in school, >> right? Okay. On those three days and
those three days be in school. give the kids and everyone, teachers and everyone the Friday before Labor Day off. So then that makes it two days and then that means we would end on the 15th and then we could say those last three days are potential snow days or snow makeup days in the event of snow and then if not we will end on the 15th. Sorry I can't push it. It really depends on how September falls. >> Can I'm sorry. Can you say that again? My students do this to me all the time and I Okay, so if you take the three days from November, >> which three? 17, 18, 19. No, >> no, it's 2, 3, and fourth. The 17th, 18th, 19th are half days. Got >> it. >> And then you move
the And it's only a half day of PD, right? So we'll put a half day of PD on the third. >> Which day? >> Oh, of for the teachers >> of November >> of September. >> Okay. Um or you put a full day and I don't know that that helps us much though. Um then the kids will have off the 4th. I think I shorted this a day. We will end the 16th because the 28th is not a half day of PD. It's a half day of PD, not a full day. We would have to make the third a full day of PD and pull from one of the other full days of PD throughout the year. Which >> wait, the third is a full day. Frank for students but not to have students come
back. You really don't have students come back for one day. >> I have to look at the contract. There might be a clause in the contract that says that if the if the students are off and it's an early dismissal, the teachers have to leave right after school. They can't we can't have an early dismissal on PD if the kids are off the next day. I have to double check that. I think there's there's something in there that says that. But either way, so let's say we what did we do? We took the three days, we gave them off the two-day. You could also write something like write if they agree to doing a PD on that day to get out of one during the year, >> then right what's that called? Like a sidebar
or something? >> No. to their to their their contract so that they they agree to it. >> 19 comments for >> um >> and then we could still build in some snow days at the end of the year. >> What why couldn't we just take those three put those three days back as working days, second, third, and fourth November and then just bump the um dismissals the 15th, 16th, 17th. Bump that back three days. you have two >> because we're also trying to take away from before day. >> So if we take if we make the three days in November working days, >> give them off the two days Thursday and Friday to students, then that only gains us one day, but it will allow us to have two built-in snow days. You have 218
people staff members only 19 commented on the calendar and one asked to move November 14 that first week I don't think you have enough there to disrupt the flow of the professionals administering I think it should remain that first week November should stay >> only 19 people responded >> I know >> out of cor that's my point no one overwhelmingly no one wants to move off that week off they didn't or they didn't care. You can't assume that. >> Well, I'm going to assume that if they had any energy behind it, they would have commented. They had because teachers teachers like to use their voice, >> right? >> I'm going to say this, it's going to be after the effect that it's done. Then that's when we'll hear feedback once it's approved. >> Yeah. >>
Um it's communitywide. You'll see that we we get very little. >> Yeah. >> I think we have >> I don't think I'm going to make any enemies by s with teachers suggesting we keep that that first week off for them. And I think that we're doing what's best for the kids. I don't think >> I don't think that's best for the kids. >> It's all in 184 days. Doesn't matter how you We're not getting more time off. >> No, but it's continuity. Look at how broken up that November month is. >> Look how consistent October, May, January is. So February the consistency of October, December, well December is what it is. January, February, April, and May. Yes. November's disjointed. May is public testing cycle. Lisa, >> yes. >> Is it November testing, too? It's the
end of quarter or the end of a >> November testing. Well, we work around the that's that's our own assessments. Our benchmark assessments will we work around the calendar. >> When are the state assessments? April. >> Usually they're Well, we won't know until that, but usually they're March or April. I can see if they're out yet. >> Okay. >> We're just starting new assessments this year, so I suspect it's going to change. The last time we discussed it, we were insist on getting feedback from the teaching community and and we got that feedback and no one requested maybe one or two of the 19 requested to alter. >> Well, I I'm more concerned with the days before Labor Day personally and I would just like to see confirm what the working status was on the
Friday before Labor Day because I was pretty certain that we were summer Fridays up until Labor Day. >> I'll go with Dr. Snider on pre- Labor Day. A lot of us teach, we have gig work. We depend right up to the last minute because we're not getting paid until the 15th. We're super lean leading into in terms of family income coming into uh Labor Day and then the 15th. And any day you give us pre-LO day is going to be greatly appreciated. So, I'm with you on that. >> Yeah. And you know, I'm 5050 torn on the November break. For me, it affected me greatly because I didn't have child care on that week. And it's not easy to find. And guess what days I was able to find? I was able to find teacher
convention days because those were the days that the statewide we needed child care. Those other three days were not the case. Um probably an anomaly, you know, to it. But um and I do understand that a lot of people I the reason I know that Stafford um in those areas have kept it because people have businesses they work on LBI and that's the one true week that they can have family time and they can't do that during the summer because every time November >> yeah so that's the reason that I've heard historically why we've kept it um in this area. So, you know, but before Labor Day, I'm a no just because I do believe that teachers um are working those days. And again, if teachers are not living, you know, relatively there's going to
be a lot of traffic, it's just going to be a lot that Friday before. >> So, why not then? I'm with you. So, I hear I'm agreeing with you, right? So, why not >> move the green day in September to the 7th, the day off, the holiday, what's that? Blue is off. holiday is the eth and the the one and the the two yellows be three and four, the third and the fourth. So kids don't come in until Monday or Tuesday. We're off on Monday and teachers come back on the third and the fourth and they get the first and the second. >> The green day is the first full day. >> That's my point. So why not move that to the eth? >> I was you can't move it to the seventh. Everybody's off,
>> right? Move the move the green day to the eighth. Give teachers the third and the fourth. Let them have the first and the second. Pushing summer as far as you can so people can as teacher I would love those two days to work an extra two days and get a few more bucks a month. >> Especially that long weekend is going to be the last one to hustle. And for some of them that's when you get the your bonuses. I have kids that have worked on LBI. You have to work Labor Day weekend in order to and so many of those days in order to qualify. >> I I'd rather focus on the September later start than mess with November. the teachers. >> Yeah, I'd bring the teachers back. That's and we've done that
before, so it's not something that would be unexpected. >> And well, let me go back and take these things into consideration. I'll we'll try one with with the November holiday, without the November holiday, unless you're telling me keep the November holiday and then uh and then we'll see what we can get done. >> Keep it post. >> I mean, Chris, you have kids in the district, so I would >> your thoughts on the November break. So, there's the practicality of getting out earlier in June when the weather's nice. And then there's the conditioning of forever. I remember getting out November, having that whole week. And I know a lot of people go to Florida. I think it's called Jersey week because so many families go to Disney over the November break. Um, so I kind
of see that as something not to touch, just out of tradition. Um, but I did have a question regarding if we students started on the 8th is that they add two more days at the end of the year. So now we're getting out on Monday the 21st. >> Not if you take the November break away. >> Okay. So if we kept the November break and we started on the 8th and we're ending in on June 21st >> and we still have to put the dates in there. I I have to see how many are actually in the contract. We do still have to make sure we we align with the PD days. I don't know how to find that quickly, but >> well, we haven't changed any PD days. The third is just students starting.
So, the only thing that we've changed by this proposal or the student start dates because moving the 28th doesn't help us. >> Well, it's only a half day. It doesn't help us. >> Can we change any PD days? So, so just from my understanding, PD days are strategically placed throughout the year for certain purposes. >> We do our best to do that. Prior, this would be the first year we actually can dictate our own PD days because we were always >> because of transportation. >> Yes. So, we were trying to leverage that. >> So, I was thinking, you know, PD days towards the end of the year, the kids are starting to check out. Can we do more PD days on the back end? So profession, my experience as both a teacher and as an
administrator is PD days at the end of the year are not helpful for my students. They're not helpful for my students unless it's going to be for like a PLC or something like that. I'd rather get the training that I need so that I could actually incorporate it into the classroom with my students. I mean I again I'll talk to my team and and see what we can come up with based upon the notes that I've taken of what you guys have discussed. >> Uh Lisa, you do have some comments from the I guess the teachers. Uh there's a couple please not to start before Labor Day. Have kids not start kids before Labor Day. >> Yes. And I and I just as an FYI, as per the contract, I do have to meet with
the association, which we did prior to all of this. So, I just want you guys to know that we did do that. So, >> when we ask them, >> by the way, if anyone's curious, I I put it in the chat GBT just to see what it would say. Students should start after Labor Day. Teachers returning before Labor Day is acceptable. Keep November break. Build in snow days for calendar stability and consider reducing or repositioning professional days. It's pretty much what we said. >> Or was it listening to you? >> Okay, let's move on. Anything else on that? All right. Um, anything else with the letter D? Do job descriptions. >> Number eight, >> the job descriptions. >> This is page nine on the March 10th board agenda. At the bottom, >> the highlighted yellow
area. Um, I did have a question that made me think of the policies and maybe it's come next. >> So, just questions with the Hanss Garden Center. That's pretty cool. Is there anything specific that they're going to be learning there or do you know what came with that request? >> Right now, it's it's a destination request, that's all. >> Okay. And the little lake diner is at a celebration of some sort. >> Again, it's just a request right now. I haven't gotten the field trip request. This is just a destination request. >> Okay. >> All right. Anything on the policies? >> Is it at the next meeting that we approve the five minutes? >> That would be a first reading. Yes. And then it'll need a second reading as well. Oh no. Yes. I according
to this it's the second reading. Yes. So that's where it's been around for a while. >> Yes. >> Sorry. >> That's okay. So then just so the public knows that we are increasing public participation from 3 minutes to 5 minutes. Everything else stays the same on the other guidelines. the links for the sexual harassment policy. Is it >> exactly what's changing? Yeah. And those policies are actually the sexual harassment policy 3362 and 4352 are completely new because you'll see that under Roman 3, we're abolishing the regs and under Roman numeral 2 abolishing the policies. So they're totally revamped. So we have to abolish policies and then approve. Okay. So you'll take a look. They're all different based upon >> That's why these look like they were actually written by a typewriter >> based upon statute.
>> So, all right. Any other questions on the policies? >> Uh, yes. the one for superintendent. Um, can we potentially can tell us this um have an ad hoc committee to work on writing this in case we want any to add any additional um things to it. I see a lot of things were crossed out and there's a portion where did I see it? I saw it online. um like the optional things were crossed out like can we include those? >> So if if there's one that's crossed out it's because the one that was put in is the one that was chosen. >> So you can take you can take a look at that for sure. >> But it was chosen but we can choose to keep the optional one. >> You can. Yeah, absolutely.
>> Okay. >> Sometimes they give you a couple of options. Sometimes they just say put it in or don't put it in. So that's why we tried to do everything so you can see what was there. >> But I know there was a part about specific criteria which I don't like if we were looking for super um Oh yeah. Uh the candidate shall u meet established criteria by the board. I thought like should we want to include those criteria? >> So >> Laura on page the third page >> criteria may change. Where are the red highlights? Is it on the >> or it's in the yellow folder if you want to be communicated? >> I was looking at it on my computer. >> Just the criteria can change and if you change the criteria based
upon the description then you'll have to change the policy every time you change the criteria. >> That's fine. >> So that may delay That's fine. We just need delay postings and that's it. So >> I thought this was all about just uh the submission to the county superintendent. Isn't that the main? >> No. In addition, >> like what criteria? Like so if you're doing a search, it's in your criteria. It's it's more solidified. I would say we could we could make it more solidified. >> Adam, what would be the difference between this and the contract? Sorry. So, the contract actually puts out sets out the terms and conditions of employment. There may be elements of the contract that I'm sorry, there may be elements of the policy that are reflected in the contract, but the
contract sets out the obligation both of the superintendent and the school district as opposed to these policy pronouncements that are included in in the policy. Also, um to the extent that the district or or that the board goes a certain way with regard to the optional language, um when you're conducting a superintendent search, you work with your search provider to kind of formulate the framework of how that search looks. And you know, not to not to give you a peak behind the curtain, but it's really what's decided during that session where you're talking with your search consultant. Those are going to be really the criteria with regard to um your policy. To the extent that you have a situation down the road that may uh be complicated by the way that the policyy's written or
the policy may no longer work for you, the board can always vote to suspend either a portion of or a policy in total. Um to the extent that it doesn't work for you in a certain situation, >> I think it's basically I'm sorry it's a compliance with the statutes too is what I'm reading. This is all mandated. So, we can't change our policy for the term that we have to offer a contract to a superintendent. >> Um, under the law, uh, the a contract for a superintendent must be at least a minimum of three years and no more than five. >> And Adam, the difference between the regulation guide and the policy guide briefly if you can. >> Sure. So, think of it this way. Um, the way it's supposed to work is the board
sets the policy, right? Theoretically the administration puts together regulation which is essentially the action the the action items for the policy how the policy is going to be implemented and utilized and administered. So the regulation is essentially the roadmap for how the policy is going to be followed. >> So how would you use that example like no cell phones that's the policy? >> So the the policy is no cell phones. The regulation will then say students are to, you know, at the beginning of the school day, you know, put the the phones into a yonder pouch and they're going to have access to their phones at lunchtime and like all of that kind of stuff is going to be done through the regulation, including like disciplinary action that may be meed out as a result
of a policy violation. All of that stuff would be in the regulation. So think of it as the pronouncement by the board and the action items by the folks on the ground so to speak >> and then so what supersedes like so this policy is being updated and what if there are any confl conflicts in a contract that conflict the policy like how does that affect us? Um, so if I were to if if we had a situation where the board entered into a contract and there's a valid contract on the table u but the terms of that contract um did not for lack of a better term jive with the um policy. Nine times out of 10, my legal advice to you would be follow the contract because that's an obligation that you've signed
on to as opposed to a policy which the board can I could even argue by virtue of the fact that the board passed a policy that conflicts with passed the approved a contract that conflicts with a policy. I could argue that by doing so, by entering into that contract, the board has essentially suspended its own policy. It's not really the right way to do it because you should have a formal vote to suspend your policy, but I think an argument can be made that the pol that the contract would supersede the policy. >> I mean, so I guess like why are we admitting the superintendent shall devote themselves exclusively to the duty of this office? That's in blue. So it's not in red, is it? >> Because it's like wishy-washy language. So I I didn't
you know full disclosure I was not asked to review this policy or give any comments on it but at the same time having done this for quite a while I can tell you that it's standard language in a superintendent contract that whole shallow devote there that's all stuff that you usually see in the boilerplate superintendent contract >> and it also says in the red section >> I did not change any of this myself. This was all um recommendation from straps. I just want you guys to know that I didn't change it. >> Right. It says in the red I'm sorry in the red section may the board may revise the recruitment procedures and qualifications sections of policy guide 1220 to meet local requirements. >> So >> yeah that's why I was seeing if we wanted
to change anything right you know in the regulation because that's it specificity right it gets more specific in the regulation but like you said that would be just guiding the contract. >> Yes. >> Okay. And the reason I asked is maybe the policy should match the contract. >> Yeah, that's what I was trying to figure out like like could someone go back to us and say, "Well, the policy says this. My contract said that." >> So, yes, someone can actually say that to you. But here's the thing. Um, when we're talking about the CSA contract in particular, that contract has to be approved first by the county superintendent. That's a requirement. So, um, I would say to you that if the county superintendent approves something and then we go ahead and formally vote to ratify
it, we are locked in regardless of what that thing says. We have an obligation to perform on those those obligations that include in the contract. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Sure. >> Any questions? >> Yeah. Wow. >> Fire. I mean, that's our most important thing that we do is hire uh superintendent and I I just want to make sure. Were you saying something like there should be some kind of committee that to review that specific policy? >> Well, I was trying to see if there was things that really needed to be changed, but as long as it's >> because when we did our search, let's read this. when we do a search, we had specific criteria that as a board we were looking for and I was questioning whether or not we wanted to include
those in the policy, but you're saying that we don't have to. And so that's where the clarification was. >> Absolutely don't have to. And just for clarification purposes, when because as Lisa said, Strauss puts these out in red line and all of that kind of stuff. um some of their policies they call mandatory and we had this whole issue of policy 5756 being mandatory. What is mandatory really mean in Strauss language? Mandatory means hey folks there's been a change in the law and we revise this. You should really look at this doesn't mean you must adopt this. It means be careful because there's a recent change in the law or some other circumstance that has required this change. Um, but again at the end of the day they are your vendor making suggestions to you.
Not all of it will fit and work for Little Light Harbor. >> So is that something just in general we want to look at or just leave it alone and just go with the stra? >> I mean my thing is I think we can leave it alone since I guess basically my understanding is that the contract will supersede the policy. So that okay. Yeah. And I can say with certainty that yes, in that case, the super the superintendent's contract will supersede the board's policy. >> Okay. Thank you, Adam. >> Sure. >> Anything else before we go to new business? All right. New business. Anybody have anything to bring up? >> Well, since it's not an action meeting, but I've been talking about the strategic plan for quite a while, and I think we need to
do something maybe at the regular meeting. And I know we're overdue with that, right, Dr. Antio? >> No, it's good through this next year. So, through this year, so you would start that. That would be a great thing to to do for retreat. We were going to bring that up at the board retreat, but now that the board retreat got pushed back to April or May, uh, that's definitely something on my agenda to start. Um, it is a long process if you do it right. >> Yeah. >> So, I 100% agree. We're going to, and I've said this before, strategic plans are only as good as what you make them. And I know that sounds obvious, but I've been part of government for 20 years and I've seen master plans come and go and they
just sit on the shelf and nobody ever sees them until it's time to do another master plan. And I don't want that to be for the strategic plan. And I've actually been talking to some people who have done it in other districts and they actually align the goals of the strategic plan with the board goals and district goals, right? where it's actually a functional document and living and holding people accountable to what they said that they would do in the beginning. So that's definitely something that we're going to look at and dive further into. >> And I did misspeer it. It's 2021 to 2025. >> That's right. 25. >> I apologize. >> It's expired. So and we can also look back and see what we did attain and what we didn't attain from that plan.
>> Yeah. And and also making it front and center of every meeting because I don't think anyone us, you know, really are familiar with it right now at this moment. that we could be with the right strategic plan, familiar with it, and someone sees us on the street, hey, what are your three goals? Boom, boom, boom, this is what we're doing. You ask a teacher, what's the strategic goals? Boom, boom, boom. We're all on the same page. So, that's my hope is if we do a strategic plan that is actually going to be functional and um you know, guiding what we're trying to do in the district so that we have measurable goals at the end to say, yes, we did this, no, we didn't do this, etc. >> Yeah. gave my time for the
last one that was >> I think that was the end of >> I mean it's a great tool to get the community involved as well uh and to get community feedback and different things like that. So >> it's a fiveyear plan moving forward. >> Mhm. >> Thanks Chris. >> Yep. Definitely something we'll address. I am going to ask that you seriously consider like moving the retreat to August, July or August when we're up and coming because at that point I think we're still going to be having a lot going on because if your budget season ends the end of April fi finalizing everything and I think just you know everybody could close out the school year things like that I think it's just more productive in the summer for a fresh start >> typically a
summer experience >> that's just my two cents >> I would agree >> that's fine All right. Any more new business? >> I was just going to say like you said, it's a long process according to New Jersey school board. So we would have the recruitment because you include the community, >> you know, potentially a lot of people. >> Yeah. So September, October, November, December, we would gather >> implement. Oh, okay. Instructive recruitment. >> Yeah. I know. I think we'd have to include that in the budget also, right? If we use New Jersey school boards or something to work with us, >> maybe it's a $4,500 fee just to get a framework and they come in a couple times. >> Um, okay. Yeah, that's a good point. All right. Public comment. The floor is now open
to members of the public. The board of education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues. The board request that each statement made by a participant is limited to 3 minutes as cited in policy number 0167. There is a sign in sheet located on the podium. Please sign in before you speak. Okay, seeing none board form Christine we'll start with you. Dennis >> um just want to say thank you to everyone for coming. Uh the board members, I really do appreciate this chance to have an open dialogue with everyone. Um we are a board that we do speak to each other throughout the week and things like that, but we don't have the opportunity to speak to everyone at the same time. So I do uh think this is very productive and it gives
us a chance to get everyone's perspective um and honestly try to do what's best for the district as a whole. So thank you. Yeah, I'd also like to say thank you for the for the discourse that we have for the you know to to echo what Dr. Snyder said. It's it's been a joy to be here thus far. Uh it's been great uh meeting with Carl and you guys have been great answering my questions with who you are, but super productive there. And I'd like to just give a shout out to the to the town um roads department um for getting from what I could have seen in in the what seems to be onslaught of snow and weather uh getting the kids to go to school. It's it's it seems to have worked out
much better in the second go round of ST. So, I'm grateful for that. And I know my neighbors and my constituents nearby are grateful and uh they feel optimistic even though we have some some roof issues. I think I think they're optimistic that we're we're trying to do the right thing for them. So, proud to be part of the good work we're doing here. >> 100%. Yeah. And by by roads department, I also mean the maintenance of the grounds. For sure. Sure. Super proud and grateful part of the community. Thank you. >> Okay. Um I just would like to thank everybody for the the discourse as you said. Um it's helpful and I would like to thank the administration especially Carl for getting these numbers together for us and helping us understand um the nuts
and bolts of some important decisions. I'm glad we had a quorum tonight and thank everybody for being here. >> All right. Thanks, Laura. >> Can I say one last thing? >> Sure. >> I also want to just thank the uh food service. I we really appreciate the food that you provide for us each week. Um you have no idea. It's probably one of the >> not the biggest regrets, but the things that former board members miss the most is the chicken salad. So, thank you all very much. And now we have Crumb Cake, too. >> Um, I want to thank Dennis. Dennis, you've been very active in the first two months of this. Uh, every phone call I made to you, you returned it within an hour. Every text message, you right away respond. Uh,
you've come to the cupcake challenge within the first week of being a board member. They needed volunteers. You were there. Uh, I asked you to come on Monday to review the bills with Carl and his team, and you did. uh you're being a very active member and I just wanted to mention it and I'm going to mention at the regular board meeting if I don't remind me but you've been very active um and I'm glad that we chose you and you're you're holding up your end of the deal. So thanks so much. >> Thank you for having me. Appreciate the comments. >> Um thank you to all the teachers and the staff and everybody in the in the buildings that are keeping life normal as possible. uh for the kids, for the students, you know,
probably 99% of them don't know what's going on in the Middle East right now and how crazy the world is. And that's the point is like this is their safe haven. This is what they know. So, thank you to everybody who goes home and watches what's on the news and then comes in and puts a smile on their face and and does their job and and is professional at it. Uh you know, the kids will never know until they're older what was going on uh because you guys did your part. So, thank you for everybody that does that. And we're going to have a moment of silence at our next meeting for the men and women out there protecting us and the in the services and all the professionals that are protecting our country. You
know, we're doing what we can here at home and they're doing what they can overseas and we definitely appreciate that which makes our country so great. >> Chris, can I add a comment? >> Sure. >> Uh, I just wanted to give the the the group some news. one of the students that we we awarded an a ribbon last month is one of my neighbors down the block and it warmed my heart. I was walking my dog the other day uh before I went to school and uh he came running out. His mother came to the door and he came running out and uh gave me a big hug and a high five and thanked me for the award and it was it's really nice to see uh how much we impact the community. I see
it firsthand and I'm super grateful to be part of the effort and I and the community appreciates it. So wanted to give that to everyone. >> It's a good good story. Yeah, it's really cool. >> And let's not forget our roofs are going to be replaced this summer, right? Well, that's a good thing to look forward to. >> Yep. All right. Anything else? >> All right. Can I have a motion to adjurnn? >> Motion. >> Can I have a second? >> Second. be hereby resolved by the Little League Garber Board of Education to adjourn at 9:13 p.m. All in favor? >> I
