002okay there we go [Music] um I have a um motion for the um addendum to the agenda under this for to resolve at the Board of Education improve the transfer of Linda mean confidential secretary superintendent Food Services to the position of confidential administrative secretary District effective honor about 726 through 6 30 2024 the salary is 49 450 as per the nine aligned agreement Linda will be replacing Kimberly Farrow and this is a 10 year old goal position um Mrs Sparrow's resignation is on the agendas thank you 4759 and just a republic knowledge I am withdrawing number 17b under Personnel Staffing item number five it is the withdrawal of the inflation of Brittany Pearson as a teacher um [Music] okay you give any other questions about the agenda [Music] can I have a roll call [Music]
003Mr filicello yes Miss Martin yes Mr Barry yes Ms lesno yes Mrs Arbor yes is Samuel Dr Snyder yes okay moving on to approval of minutes recommend a motion to approve the following minutes I have a motion you have a second okay are there any questions [Music] okay seeing as there are none can I have a roll call vote just to fill the jello yes Miss Martin yes Mr Barry yes it's the last dog yes it is Dr Snyder yes the motion carries okay uh for your let's see if you have any pleasure you can look at there's a presentation available for you to do um The Hip report hip grade report that was presented by Mrs chiselino and that is available for you to review online move on to number nine the report of
004a superintendent um thank you Dr Snyder I just want to say that it has been a very productive two and a half weeks I am incredibly impressed with the administrative staff who I have been working with very closely um we hit the grounds running and um I think you'll be pleased with many of the results I also want to comment that the um Splash Program as well as the extended school year program are all up and running and I have the opportunity to work through this building and everything seems to be doing well so it's all good thank you moving on to Residence Forum the Board of Education now recommends welcomes the public to comment on items which are on our agenda tonight community members should first try to resolve their concerns by speaking directly
005to the school administrators before bringing those concerns to the board it may not always be possible or appropriate for the board to directly answer questions during the public comment period each speaker is allotted a maximum three minutes to make their statement No one may speak more than once on the same topic you are required to give you a name and address before sleeping please keep your comments respectful and non-defamatory and maintain the level of deform appropriate for a public meeting where miners may be in the audience would anyone like to speak sure moving on to board work session I have just a couple things first we're going to have our board retreat August the 2nd so everyone my calendar it's a Wednesday next week so you can see us well actually not choice if I'm
006up this month but twice um so make sure you do that I'm looking forward to that um I just want to also to thank um Mrs blood for her and all of the administrative team I know that a lot of work that's been happening um in the past uh there's only like three weeks and it's wonderful seeing and hearing about how everyone is working together so that makes me very very happy and I'm happy to hear that we're gonna we're in compliance for housing p word language and reports are being completed and submitted properly so I'm very happy to hear that um with that said I also want to remind everyone that we have a board of ed meeting scheduled for August is everyone okay with that date and it was changed at a different
007point wait so it was canceled right and now we're adding it back and change it was never canceled I can't believe I just think it was potentially admitted from the agenda original um and what else okay Mrs blood does that be good for you or is that good date is perfect for me um did we did it the week before at all for any onboarding for any new hires eventually not providing the board approves my ability to hire okay all right perfect okay um and then I just have one last thing that I do not think of that and that maybe I had meant to ask and I keep forgetting is one of our District's goals where it was attendance for last year and so maybe if we could just look at the next board
008and just have an idea of what the results of that were but whether or not we were able to improve on our attendance I think we're trying to deliver it by 10 percent maybe from 18 years do you know which is the whole District um the only reason I thought about is because we did receive a thing from New Jersey school boards about different ways to encourage attendance all right so I was just curious to see how we get into that corner superintendent was supposed to be yes yes I will settled into it I know that um we met from student standards at Broad Pond and at George Mitchell and the state standard is 90 and we were above 90 in both of those buildings um and we fell just short in the preschool um
009in the ECC because we write 89 and change but it wasn't 90 but I will state that in preschool you often have parents who believe their children home for various reasons but certainly we will continue to work okay okay all right does anyone have anything else to talk about the sixth grade transition next year um it was about two hours and they explained to us you know this obviously wasn't a rash decision it was something that they put thought into they met with the teachers several times I think we have confidence that it's going to you know hopefully be a good transition for the kids they did assure us that the kids would still be transitioning classes and seeing four teachers per day we didn't have some presentation I think both Mr Barry and I
010with the blocks of math and Ela um the Administration has a shortage that they would be providing resources to the teachers in order to make sure that um they are able to keep contention and be able to have um uses during that time so I felt like it was a pretty pretty good meeting um and I guess at this point we just kind of have to see what unfolds next year with sixth grade and then reevaluate and revisit it next year so I just wanted to let you guys know that we did meet and we didn't have a pretty one really wanted yeah 90 minute block of mass is uh it's not going to send like water boarding but uh you know I'm sure our teachers will [Music] but also I did like to hear
011the recommendation on simplifying the uh the the grading policy so that um when it's it'll be sent home and uh and people will be able to understand it which is a novel concept when you think of an accurate about getting a report card um you know gets away from I guess a little bit from that uh [Music] standard based stuff to how the heck the kid is doing so I'm just glad to see that that's good and and it's simplified and that's uh I think it'll work out much better it was a good idea it's the goal for that to come out this year right with okay great so for like the first round we're already working with the enforce for its implementation so at the end of the first trimester it will be the
012new year wonderful and I guess we're going to plan to put it out to the parents we'll make sure that they know what the reading policies and how everything that sucks yeah getting back into the report card committee was very involved in that but the actual grade level teachers have not all seen my product so we want to make sure we do that as well gotcha thank you thanks I just want to say I was not able to make that curriculum meeting I'm sorry but um I do have a concern too about the 90-minute section and I just wondered this the teachers um kind of census on that there the teachers really wanted to remain departmentalized um but does not accomplish what the goal is with regards to both the math and the reading and
013we also felt that um after looking again I was here I was not here when the original research was done but it's my understanding that um our districts that are nearby um two of them have the same you know two teacher teams because they get to know a smaller group of students more intimately than having you know the larger or double vml so a team will have let's say 40 students on it as opposed to having 80 or 100 students on it um which is also a recommendation for mental health and social emotional learning um but they will still change so the Vintage for Math and Science and one for language arts and social studies and then they'll have a different teacher for math I don't know math I'm sorry for art and music and
014phys Ed and steam um and then there are additional periods that help to support the new meth program um and our teachers will all be trained in that but in the surrounding neighboring districts they also team in the same manner and I'm not sure whether it's eagleswood or Tuckerton one of the districts has one sixth grade teacher who teaches all four of the subjects because it is there's so few students and then the other district has the math science and the ELA social studies and in Stafford Township they are also teaming sixth grade in the exact same way their schedules are slightly different but again there's one teacher teaching math and science and the other teacher on the team who teaches Ela in reading so you have two teachers who become much more knowledgeable of
01540 kids and can follow and have communication with parents and things of that nature again the research preceded me but it was shared with me for all the work that our administrators did I they shared with me the meetings that they have with different groups of teachers and one of the things that I that I met with teachers that I assure them is that we will offer support as much as we can and we're actually adjusting the schedule so that there are two additional prep periods for every grade level that we are going to utilize as often as possible for providing individual teacher support um I'm going to aspirin it's not their contract language their contract only allows for five prep periods so they're actually getting additional prep periods but in in order to comply
016we would ask for a non-precedented setting but at some point that may be a negotiation item if they decide they like having the extra two and they're getting that support and they those would be the times that we would pull them out for IEP meetings for additional training on on programs and sometimes it would be that they could use it to work on their own sgos their own preparation so um that's the way that we're moving forward and the goal is to enhance reading and math scores most definitely because that's the focus of and I believe that's one of the goals I've been working thank you yes I'm very excited because especially with the report cards because I think he had told me that the study was that only 50 of parents I'm not I
017don't remember the exact okay so it's the large the large numbers did not open the report cards and that was my huge concern with that and I I was concerned because for me even as educate you're seeing one two or three while that told me whether or not my child was performing at grade level they told me nothing about the work ethic and for me a lot of it is work it's a combination you have I want a child that and I have a child that struggles but I'll tell you she's my hardest worker out of anyone she has summer reading that's due September we have been doing something each week uh last week at night we're reading questions about urban legends and answering questions about it and reading and seeing how to interpret things
018and there's a math component and she's working on it and she has that work ethic and that will take her far even though she might not be at grade level that will take her somewhere in life and I think that's important so I think having that component as a grade level knowing how they score in addition I'm not saying one or the other but having it together would be very very helpful I think for parents to interpret okay well is my kid just not doing the work or is my and then especially with the transition to seventh grade and then all of a sudden where you're going to get a grade and then once they go to high school and then when they go to college and guess what if you don't hand something in
019zero it's not a 55 no they don't accept late work you can't hand it in at the end of the semester it's it's over so I think that we have to start that work ethic and that work component here so that it travels with them through their education that's just mine um and I do believe we have a busing meeting scheduled for next week to discuss those we do okay which I will try to attend that yeah okay all right any other questions or anyone else saying like that I was just going to say I agree as a Bank in regards the regard to the report cards because I'm in the other percentage where I will get the report cards when they come out right away but I don't know what it means I just
020scroll down and I see some freeze so we have two I'm like what does that mean and then I just go right down to the summary because that's where the teachers talk about my kid and that's what I want to see and read because that's a great summary but other than that I have no idea I open it but it's a bunch of gibberish and so I'm just very very excited about this for me but if they first came out my youngest was in first grade and I want to say my child got like a one and something that was related to speech so what happened I quickly signed them up for speech services outside of school because it wouldn't qualify in the school but no one could exactly explain to me and I wanted
021to catch it before it was a problem and so that's some of the things that can happen also if you're if you have two different sides of the spectrum so to speak and so I think that that will allow for communication and also too maybe we can figure out a way to make sure that parents are looking at them because you know I'm I'm old that you had to sign the report card and turned it back in yeah not just you know get going on to enforce or whatever but people might be going home [Music] and work on something that is small parents were forced to pick it up and then there's some type of report possibly you know something because I do that's how I operate with my kids and I think it's super
022important and that stuff you know really take a look at it as the ease of the new report card I think will just be so much use of money for parents and much more just able for them to have communicate with the teachers too so yeah in printing it out in the upper green was the amount of pages [Music] so it'll be neat and there are indicators you know but if it's and that's only them from brains um three through six we're maintaining the standards-based report requirements but a a streamlined yes and I guess the researcher in me when we went shifted to this way was I thought we were doing it so we weren't like shocked when we got um I guess it was the first sports back in the day was Park um
023those Park scores and all of a sudden our students weren't getting threes but our students were all getting A's on their report cards that's what I think there's still that same shock value that your students in the classroom that are getting threes are not getting a three on the park or whatever it's called now njsla okay can't keep up with all the acronyms um I almost called it Jersey ask and if not that'll really show me where it has okay um so I think that that's a good way if we could cease and I'm not trying to ask people to do more work really but if you can see somehow that we can see a correlation between students that receive threes or whatever on their report card and then are still receiving those threes and
024it could just be the quantity of the material you know just anxiety when it's actually in that setting there's a whole different reasons why students don't perform the same on state tests as they do on a test in a smaller setting on less material so but it would be nice to see some more Brothers in there I was not able to get together a policy community so I'd like to close one for August at the latest maybe the first two weeks in September you know it's gonna get hard prior to the next meeting and the one policy that is on the board for reading it actually was a one-word change in the policy but certainly if we can schedule one we are looking at people better policies right now right now show up by emailing
025them okay moving on to finance can I have a motion to approve Finance items a through b can I have a motion no second are there any questions [Music] um I just want to say I oh sorry I always have questions on finance and thank you for getting back to me Mr Green um and this is very much appreciated with my questions the one other thing I forgot to add because I just like to look at the bills list for the fine-tooth Chrome is the cell phone reimbursement that's not done monthly for our administrators it's done okay videos okay is that because I changed it recently [Music] um it might have been during big brown because he said it was easier than doing it each monthly and sending in her seasonings so I think it's
026once a year now it wasn't straight you just want to keep track of it as it melts up over so just it's this one time in bulk and then we reimburse them for that yes okay all right I just wanted to ask it just seems like a hefty amount [Music] can you just briefly explain the 126 235 and then the whole contract is a million okay so the the 126 is the fee that neutral surf charges us for actually uh and that's the guarantee that they're a magnificent State and that 126 is shared by the four districts involves with the uh with the food centers uh the contract when we say it's 1.3 million that's what the estimated expenses will be okay that's going to be those that 1.3 million is going to be offset
027by the revenue which they could have for paid lunches and the federal and state lottery Investments thank you so the 126 is included into the 1 million director correct and we do receive a profit of at least 20. we're guaranteed to own thank you for sure any other questions [Music] if not tomorrow though Mr Billy Joel yes Miss Martin yes Mr Beverly yes Ms lesno yes Mrs Harbor yes it is similar Dr Snyder yes watch your passes okay moving on to facilities recommend a motion to approve facilities item a can I have a motion you have a second [Music] are there any questions [Music] what vehicles do we have to drive oh pickup truck s this one okay all right I know that question too apparently we have three we have all income we're in
028we're trying to find a new vehicle we're going to buy them just State the way it's another state really is poison okay um anyone else any questions all right you have a roll Pop Up Christopher Jello yes Miss Martin yes Mr Berry yes Mrs Arbor yes Miss Simon Dr Snyder yes promotion Passage okay there are no new technology items at this time uh moving on to new business there are many emotions at this time [Music] um but I just um just to check the September board meeting date and if um the board wanted to leave it at the 19th or if the board was willing to hold it up the week I had informed you that I was not available [Music] um I believe you you know want to have a meeting without me Robert
029and certainly just should we move it back a week only because if I move it up okay okay sorry so could it be the 12 or could be the 12th 12 by four I can do with video pieces before or the trumpet the thing is that is only two things true I don't think they'll be there'll be items on the agenda because we're still trying to fill any positions that you know for Powers Etc that hopefully we have you know I will have [Music] I don't think you'll be able to reach me if you need to reach me well what was the reason we needed to change the other thing again well uh Dr McCauley had asked us to change it I don't have a problem with that so I I will be back 20th
030so I could do the 21st or the 22nd anytime that week of the 21st just a thought if we move it to August 20 22nd and then there's times as well because you were on vacation and the 22nd was the original date yes so the 22nd does that work for everybody 22nd of August and then the 12th of September and it's 5 30. is that good for you do you need later okay but I think we push it up to six yeah I don't even um I I am rolling right now my whole schedule changed for the fall and the blink of an eye but um I can do 5 30 or I could do six anyone else [Music] okay it's 5 30. and that's for example yes yes so I guess we'll do 5
03130 for executives for the rest of this school not school year calendar year six six well I think when you announce her executives [Music] probably depends there are sometimes you may and sometimes you know you can always go back into exactly yeah it's only because we have these students of the month and stuff and it's nice to get out earlier yeah I I would actually love to to talk to you know customer support um the possibility of doing student recognitions at the end of each trimester so that you can do your students of the month it will be for three months you can recognize your award winners things like that and yeah it kind of gives you know you'll get parents to come in because you'll have more than just one or two students here
032um if there's contests that they enter and we have winners to recognize them more students if you do it you know at I guess it should be I'm not exactly sure the date is the end of the trimester but like maybe the December meeting where we also have very light probably yes and then March and then June yes yeah [Music] okay okay but then still have the meeting at 6 30 12 30. the um blood pressure meeting is Chris can we change it to 5 30 executive so I got a full hour for each meeting I think we need the full hour at least for the for all months ahead yes and then it did change it can change it can be shorter Maybe you can always go back to if you find that you're
033not using it and you need to choose you can always change it for the new year okay uh do we need to approve that or we're good uh Robert no you just okay I'll move on informational items the following items are being presented for informational purposes Community School financials um correspondence of Mr Cole and correspondence with Miss martucci you're going to go to Personnel recommend a motion to approve personal item C through each and I have a motion motion grab a second are there any questions please remember that uh 17b5 has been omitted um [Music] no no that's not another one any questions okay then can I have a roll call vote please Mr filicello yes boss um I need to abstain on B1 and yes for the rest to vary yes Ms Elizabeth Miss
034Arbor yes Miss settler yes Dr Snyder yes all motions recommend emotions approve harassment intimidation and bullying items presented and discussed in an executive session remember motion wait a second second are there any questions if not can I have a little please Mr Phillip Jello yes Miss Moore yes Mr Berry yes Mrs lesno yes Ms Arbor yes Ms savler yes Dr Snyder yes devotion candles okay moving on to number 19 policies and procedures recommend a motion to improve policies and procedures items a through L can have a motion can I have a second second are there any questions I have a question on G uh the virtual Clinic I just looked at that did we update that yes we accidentally sent you the phones one and um we were able to make sure that the new
035one went out I I do believe the new one is the attached the difference thank you for bringing it to our attention we appreciate it thank you um this is probably self-explanatory about what are the duties of the homeless liaison Academy anything that filed that falls under McKinney Venture so if we have a student who comes in um and is identified as homeless um that's liaison issues do they find them housing or no that's actually done on the county level but we make sure that we know where they are so they can be picked up things like that go ahead I just wanted to comment on J number three changing the title of the assigned to ASI just having a child that received Facebook skills like you think is so much more positive um I
036don't know maybe because it changed and I didn't I forgot to ask that but that was a lot of the basic skills instruction and compensatory education is a title that most districts have gone away from over the past 10 or 15 years and they have all different types of names that they've given them but again it's to avoid the negative connotation yes I'm happy with that and I look forward I do like also too to this from the directory of Elementary education to Personnel planning and evaluation I think that's a good positive change along with um Mrs Harper's title of um supervisor basic skills and commemoratory education to supervisor of federal programs which I'm looking forward to that as well and that does cover the four title programs so it puts it all under one
037of them yeah and hopefully I'm going to say hopefully it makes your job easier at least more in the same area I know that's just not the case but okay I'm just going to comment on that too thank you for class that I met me there was a job descriptions that's really helpful in regard to K the school calendar so that's great the the change in makeup days for employment weather not being around Memorial Day yeah we did look to try to end the school year on the 14th but it would have been impossible without eliminating federal holidays or days from spring or winter break and I didn't want to fall break I don't think anybody would have happened yeah yeah we would have to eliminate him [Music] well part of the problem with that
038is because that already went out and that's teacher convention and election day and then Veterans Day actually you know when most superintendents are doing this they because that's a Federal holiday they lump that into that week so it's you get a lot of kids that don't come to school that week because their families look at the holidays Dad's on Veterans Day I think you have a confusion with deer season around listen I had a teacher in hell I still tell me that they used to close on the opening day of Montana [Music] parents in southern school district and I don't know if it affects teachers and families here but a lot of families can't take a summer vacation and they can't take that time off because they're working on Long Beach Island if they own
039businesses anything like it's at the peak of the season and if that's the case that's their one chance as a family to take time together and so if that's the case that's a good reason to have the week off for me it was never a good week for me as College because I don't have that week off but um I do agree that we can't change that change now maybe because I knew that week was off I would have already booked a vacation for that week if I was in a more I would say normal but a different career where I could have taken that week and traveled um I'm sure there are a lot of plane trips already booked for that right so I don't think we could do that at this point but
040in the future if it's something that people would rather start their summer earlier and pull back those two days then that's something to discuss so the question is whether or not when we have teachers not here and students and so it's a combination that well can we get feedback again with some good data on like does the community do the teachers really want that whole week I had asked the three -day superintendent about finding out who utilizes that time to go actually go to teachers convention just to see um I forget what their response was but I would just like to see what does the community really want what do the teachers really want for that week in November I'm going to say though now we do have to consider what climax schedule is because
041we're going to have students families that have siblings in both schools and so if Pinelands is off that whole week and we're not it's gonna like there has to be a communication I think yeah and usually when you have a centimacy relationship that communication does take place um and similarly with any other districts that we may be receiving from um but again at this point I would be you know artists believe that we wouldn't have a lot of stuff out because if we changed it I'm sure many of them have already reported lands well I think this is a good I think it's a good schedule for this year but going forward 24-25 um anecdotally I heard from uh some teachers that they're already in teaching mode that last week of August you know we
042have the orientations for kindergarten Pre-K that if maybe we could do the teachers days at the end of August to look at the contract I know that there are some districts that in order to start the school on the fourth for example they bring their teachers in the two days before Labor day but if and again I don't know the contract Language by heart yet but if the contract language says the teachers don't start until September 1 then you'd have to get the union to make an agreement to that so that becomes that because if you want to get out earlier that's uh well it may be yes but that's something that has to be discussed if you can think about this is fine for this year absolutely when we start something within a calendar
043in the beginning of the new year old will do that any other questions okay Matt can we have a roll call vote Mr Phillip Jones yes it was born yes Mr Barry yes yes [Music] Dr Snyder yes and the broken carries moving on to informational items the following items are being presented for informational purposes um any questions on those yeah if not moving on to public comment the floor is now open to members of the public the Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues the board requests that each statement made by our participant is limited to three minutes of setting the policy Network zero one six seven there is a sign-in sheet located on the podium please sign in before you speak if anyone like to speak sometimes good evening
044my name is Dan Finney I'm actually a resident of Aberdeen and I do have two friends that down here and have kids in your school system and uh in a couple different conversations they talk to me about um you know we've talked about what's going on across the state regarding the governor of Murphy's overreach in trying to Express the lgbtq agenda and foreign into the into the question mark zone so I know that it was on your agenda there are some aspects of this and I just wanted to call in encourage the board to stand up for parental rights and a proper role of parents in partnership with the school as a former Navy officer you know it was really interesting to me during my career how many times we've lowered the standards for military
045service and yet we can do have increasing problems in kids being able to follow instructions and get through training programs and boot camp and those kind of things and I think raising having raised five children myself you know I really saw a meeting for the schools to focus on academics and less social experimentation and I just the other thing I wanted to apply is that in Reading several of the school um policies 57 56 for example in my hometown there's language in there that talks about feelings and about children being anonymous and able to make decisions regarding gender that they feel comfortable with um when in fact their grades aren't even developed and yet we're called a firm something that uh is not is not even being questioned and I think the feelings of children
046um meet adults in the room to to help them through this this age where our education system is being taken over by people wanting to put social agendas and um homosexualization so I appreciate the opportunity that in this public form you just just tell you that um you know you guys have a big job and I respect that and uh hope that you'll be able to sort through what's fact conviction thank you would anyone else like to speak huh hello my name is Alice Murray and I am from Monmouth County and Jose and um I understand that this issue is going around the state just as Sam was saying um and specifically about transgender issues and the reason why I want to bring it up is because it is spreading and the state is mandating
047actually not mandating suggesting some policy regarding this and that is that the names if it soon tries to change your name so I want to specific pronouns pronouns that you're not supposed to notify the parents this is not mandatory however and some of those even in Towns close to me that I've been to and they're coming out with the Discrimination issues so trying to suggest to mandate this and not allowing parents to be aware of when a student has an issue and feels that they're of a different gender and I'm always saying this because we are finding one bathroom issues with um children and I have a daughter in seventh grade but she's in eighth grade now how boys that the voice shows up in the bathroom um what would she do and it is
048a lab now at this time and the girls have happened to show up in the boys bathroom and the thing is there are urinals are made for voice and the girls can't use them and I really don't think it should be an issue but by the time the student is 18 there are 11 studies including a Toronto 2021 study that says by the if a student is in a transgender position that they go back to their birth gender by the time they're 1887.7 so because as Stan had mentioned that the from the cortex is not completely developed and children can't get a tattoo or can't do drink or smoke or any of those things that's why we have parents to be involved it is an issue because I do work in a high school as
049a teacher and there our three transgender students there this year the registration says there are a hundred 100 out of 9011 students that are identifying as non-binary I mean they don't believe there are a male or a female and will not identify with one thing we believe this is a social contagion that is spreading across the state and we need to take a stand and at least notify the parents also the reason why parents aren't being note faced is there's a threat of suicide of these transgender students they say if you don't allow me to change my gender I will commit suicide this is what the the counselors are telling them they're telling the parents this would you rather have a dead daughter or a life son and it is not true because the suicide
050rates are happening after the transition and realizing that these drugs if they also give the pedophiles the puberty blockers are causing them to stop developments and hurting their bones and health issues thank you reinforced parental rights anyone else like to speak okay seeing as there's no one moving on to board forum and here Legacy I would just like to thank the public for speaking um I'd like to see some little like Harvard parents come out and tell us our thought their thoughts on the parental rights as well and I would like to let you know that we will be discussing it as chair of the policy committee we will be discussing that with our legal team uh policy 5756 whether it be in August or September so thank you for your comments uh Mr Finney
051and thank you for your comments I just tell you uh you're preaching to the choir when it comes to me personally I agree with you all right I think Debbie uh people that come into remains every month know my feelings on that and I agree with you the parents rights are in Jeopardy uh with the governor that we have in the Department of Education that we have but uh uh they wield a lot of uh I guess swag there's a lot of weight and unfortunately they are not doing the children uh any good I strongly believe that I agree with you 100 these poor kids that are confused uh we need to help them and you know that's nice so I I appreciate your comments and I I don't have any uh and the second
052thoughts about speaking out in public and telling you that I agree with 100 I just want to say thank you to Mrs blood for all of the work you've done in just three short weeks it's very exciting and I just want to say that I'm Overjoyed that you're here and you're working so well with the administrative team so thanks to the administrative team for the collaboration with Mrs flood as well as the teachers um in summer school but so enjoy the last month of Summer before we're back at school thank you and I'm enjoying you here thank you Mrs blood um you know one of the things that we were hoping for was sort of an outside perspective and I personally like the fact that you're looking at the titles and the responsibilities and the
053streamlining a lot of responsibilities so that uh folks are working on you know specific things within their title and so I think that's good and streamlining Discovery it tends to get loaded and goes all over the place after a while so it's good that we got a fresh set eyes also I want to say thank you to Kelly Lynn Pelzer we brought in for special education uh right off the bat she met with myself I'm a parent of a special education student and a few others we are actually trying to restart the group for parents with special education students it's the leh ctag s-e-p-a-g and one of the things that we're going to be doing is having sort of a play date type meeting at the park on Saturday August 12th at 10 A.M if
054anyone wants to go it's uh mostly for families with individuals with an IEP or a 504 but you bring your siblings friends caretakers you know it's we're just trying to really build that Community here within the community so that we can support each other and Kelly's been a strong proponent that she had she was President I think of her group up in Kearney or at least involved with it for many years so she's brought a lot of good ideas for that and so finally I just wanted to mention I think some of you know a very uh prominent Community member passed away recently Tommy Williams he was a school board member within our community and you know this person I wanted to recognize him I met Tommy back in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy I was
055a volunteer at the middle school and I just remember how hard him and the other law enforcement and emergency emergency professionals award 24 7 for about three weeks straight whether they were rescuing people from the flood waters or what have you uh that I know he's a big loss for the community so I just wanted to bring it up Chris and I also would just like to thank Mrs blood she's been extremely transparent and willing to speak to any of us then give it up for her time over the weekend and everything to address any concerns and I would just also like to thank the administration she has not said enough wonderful things about you um and how hard all of you are working which we all knew and uh how welcoming you've been and
056just amazing things and so we could not have been prouder almost like we're parents but not really but um of all of you and welcoming her and this is the fresh perspective that we were looking for I think we can maybe I'll agree on that um for the district and I think it's going to be a very wonderful school year and I'm really looking forward to it okay if not can I have a motion to return second all in favor any exceptions okay our next word meeting will be oh now it's going to be August 22nd you guys are kind of test me executive session at 5 30. and the public session will begin at 6 30. enjoy your next month and
