She's been here, you know, as long as I have. Uh, I can't think of anything better than she really worked to try to bring out, even my son, what you can do, you know, not that it's perfection, but you can do it. And, uh, she was really, from what I've hear, because I wasn't there, she's really fun to work with, too.

So, that's it. I'd like to add that, you know, my my oldest son um is autistic and loves crafting and and she will, you know, when he's having a tough day, he can visit her and she'll give him supplies to just be artistic with and she was incredible with him for the first two years that he's been in school and she's still going to be incredible this year, too. And she's really a wonderful woman and you know, she will be missed. And Mrs. Pisciotti taught my my uh my human through co and the woman is a saint. That's all I'll say. First grade, you know, on um the moms would be texting each other like I can't believe she's doing this because she was incredible throughout COVID and um she has a special place in

my family's heart for that. >> I'll second the canonization because [laughter] um she taught my son Zach who's in the audience and she was a terrific teacher. Uh we really appreciate all the years that she's served the district and the students here. Um thank you. >> Thank you. Um where was I at then? Uh roll call, please. >> Mrs. Butler? >> Yes. Mrs. Dailyaly? >> Yes. >> Mr. Dejamos? >> Yes. >> Mr. Foster? >> Yes. >> Mr. McClennon? >> Uh yes. But abstain from 34 and 36. Uh, Miss Nyquist. >> Yes. Will you move those in? >> So move. >> Second. >> Any questions? >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Butler?

>> Yes. >> Mrs. Daly? >> Yes. >> Mr. Dejamos? >> Yes. >> Mr. Foster? >> Yes. >> Uh, Mrs. McClennon? Yes, >> Miss Nyquist. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Casease. >> Yes. And Katie, will you move in other items number 44 through 53? >> So moved. >> Second. [snorts] >> Any questions, Karen? >> Well, there was a question uh about the calendar [snorts] that maybe we're going to look at. Maybe we just pull it. >> We we could we could we could modify that if you want. Is that what you're talking about about the September? >> Yeah. listing or we could leave it on and then cancel it later. But uh it's up to you. But if we >> because not till the 26th. All right. So let's let's leave it on and we'll cancel it

later. >> Yeah. You can always know cancel it later. [snorts] >> Okay. >> Any other questions? >> Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Butler? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Dailyaly? >> Yes. >> Mr. Dejamos? >> Yes. >> Mr. Foster? >> Yes. >> Mrs. McClennon? >> Yes. >> Miss Nyquist? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Casease? >> Yes. >> Okay. Uh any unfinished business, new business? >> Oh, okay. I just have a comment or two. First, I wanted to thank uh Mrs. Nicholson for posting such a complimentary write up on the board and on our presentation. And then I think uh George, if you can correct me, prior to our session beginning was somebody that was over in the left and I think it was from Mendum and just this is for the board. She said, "We watch your

board a lot. You're a model for us." >> Just so you know that go that goes to the board. >> Hi, Mendum. [laughter] >> I'm pretty sure it was Menum. >> I I forget I forget exactly where, but yes, we heard a lot of positive feedback right at the beginning. So, and the last thing is I had an opportunity to attend a session on MTSS and by I by no means understand it but I have a better understanding of it and all I can say is we are on the right path. the the session was uh conducted uh with netcom. They were the was the director of curriculum and the superintendent and they're in their you know a crossover year four to fifth year and in their presentation they went through they had the same

kind of growing pains or beginnings as as we had and not the least of it is you know there's something else that the teachers have to get into. want to learn and etc etc and the students themselves but you can go on and I have to tell you the they use a word that I was thinking of as foundationally I didn't know if it was such a word but that's what we're looking at you know we're not going for a quick fix to get like a good better marks from one review to the next in three months or six months this is going to the you I would encourage you to go on to the sto app store download the New Jersey school board's association workshop app you can search either several ways October 21st

0112025 the speaker Dr. Kathleen Walsh or it's set it was at 2:30 and the uh the title is building strong readers one district's MTSS-ER journey. It is is reassuring. It's encouraging. Um, and not that I doubted that our administration wasn't on the right path, but I think it'll help maybe some board members get a little more security in it. And I I throw it out because anybody can a parent can come can download this and check it out because they put out their timeline and how things progressed for them in the changes that they saw as they went through it. So, it was like I said, it was just very encouraging and very enlightening. >> Thank you. >> Um I just wanted to mention that um I I hope in the future we'll hear more

about this, but they launched a literacy um program at both Gillette and Millington. Um the Ed Foundation um supported them with some of the materials that they used, but it's a really exciting program. Um, you know, anecdotally, I've heard from a lot of friends who have [snorts] children in grades, um, I think it starts as early as kind is prek or is it kindergarten? >> Is it pre-K? >> I I it might be pre-K, but I'm sure it's kindergarten. >> So, the the younger kids get their reading buddy, which is a stuffed animal to to read with them. And the older kids actually can earn tokens. And it it started this week and my kid came home the day of the event. And I really want to salute to I think Mrs. Manurva is the

one who's spearheading it. I think Mrs. [cough] helping her. Um, but to see the excitement that is [snorts] building around this and it just started. My son was like, I'm going to read the entire Harry Potter season series this year. I don't think that's going to happen, but the fact that he literally wants to read this kid hates reading is exciting and u we'll see where it goes. But I think since we're talking about literacy um it's really exciting to see kids that excited to read. Um, and personally as a member of the Ed Foundation, to be a part of something like this is exactly what we we want to do for the district. So, it's exciting to see how that partnership works out. So, I wanted to bring it up. >> The it's a

the kids are my my two younger ones are definitely buying into it. Um, my first grader and my fourth grader. So, it's it's I'm excited to see how it goes, too. >> That That's great to hear. Yeah. We see a lot of reading buddies tag, you know, hooked onto the book bags. >> Yes. kids getting on the bus and taking them home. It's great. >> Yeah, sounds very exciting. Any other thoughts? Okay, any comments from the public? >> Okay, motion to adjurnn. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All in favor? Any opposed? >> Did we get a second? Just I mumbled it. It was a quiet one. >> Okay. Thank you. You're welcome.
