Okay. Order of business. Be it resolved that upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools, the board of education acknowledges receive
from the treasurous report month of October 2025 as detailed in the Friday. Moved by second by all those in favor. Be it resolve the board of education hereby approves the minutes of the regular board meeting of November 12, 2025 as presented according to the holding. Uh we're extremely excited to introduce a science research program um which will run on the steam cabinet. This is your science research which will lead to those prestigious competitions for general. So we'll be able to have a science research course research and our temple research program which allows human space research in our high school. That's year one and then we will each year add another course to the science research program. This way it culminates in that uh competition the general competition. That's year one. Um we are changing and
reimagining our new media academy. We're renamed it still and media academy. That's based on some student input. Um and we're introducing a new course in that academy, the investigative journalism class. Um and a build studies class. Both will be have courses English credit electives. Um we're very excited about that. And that was basically some student feedback that Dr. ups in terms of how to reinvent that data. And um finally, we're adding an advanced Spanish native speakers. Um this is important because a lot of our native speakers take AP class. They're so accelerated by the time they are junior and as a senior there is no course for them to take. Um so we felt it was important for them to have continuation their ability to go deeper into um speaking their native language. So advanced
Spanish will be a senior course for those students who took the AP um for Spanish literature um as a junior. So we're very excited about these courses and the entire team and teachers are involved in curriculum writing work this summer. David works right there. Right. Uh some other announcements that we're proud of in the news. I'm not sure if this is your post, but the boys and girls varsity or just overall basketball team is highlighted in the sports section interviewing coaches and coach Burton as well as student athletes um and was an amazing part of really amazing piece. We're really focusing on how um the students legacy work towards successful seasons that their their leadership they're mentoring the younger players and how they're looking forward to continue that success for this year. If you didn't
see it, uh it was in the New York uh post. Um great night. Um great event. Uh the high school held an AP information night to talk about all our AP operates for about 29 different AP operations. So parents who are unable to attend Tuesday night, please reach out to the high school your guidance counselor um and find out what those AP operations are for next year. Promote children themselves, you know, within their zone of profit development to take those challenging courses. Um the middle school and high school, believe it or not, the middle of the second walker period is concluding. So next week, those projects will be posted. The year flying by. We are always encouraging parents to join the parent portal. You can see all the academic information and attendance on the parent
portal. Um so please do not remember that, not looking into that. You see regular updates. You don't need to wait till the middle of the market period. We actually encourage you to look every like two weeks. you know, contact teachers, contact dance counselor if you have any concerns. Um, and we are changing the timeline for our uh universal prepay um enrollment based on some feedback I heard from last year. Um, we are opening up the window for the uh lottery registration in January. So, as soon as we come back in January uh for the flyers information, you'll have the opportunity to enroll in the lottery. Um we're going to then in the last week of January announce who's accepted and then registration will begin um by February 23rd. We want to have you know since
deliver this will give us the opportunity to um get parents who are waited into a seat sooner rather than later and that was some feedback that we heard last year. So be on the lookout for the postcard and communications pertaining to the enrollment process about auditing system. And finally, the contract seasons here. I had a chance to go to L where today steel schools was absolutely amazing. The kids are super talented even at elementary level. So excited to see what they bring as they get older. Um so I hope to go to more conferences. That concludes my comments. I do want to introduce Dr. O who's going to do a presentation on our M12 program. That's right. for >> depending on whether you sequence is That's not the sequence that we have problems on just
because I think coming >> in what learning supports to be another curriculum has changed and I'd like for you math tools. What learning supports do you have for the on the elementary level and let's say secondary middle school for the parents and working with their child with the explanation in the curriculum because it is advanced and the way we used to solve a problem is not the way it's more extensive for and new. >> so what supports do you have? Whether you have workshops, the parents like it's also um works on There's also resources. questions. our comments. So, as was mentioned before, it is now concert season and I was able to attend this morning. I have some of the um I I mean still sorry. Um and I have some of the others on
my agenda as well. And I have to say it's really one of our favorite parts of being on the board. Getting to go to these performances and and see our students is always incredible. And on that note, uh this past Sunday was the um civic association in conjunction with uh Baldwin Chambers writing at the historical society. They do it every year and our student board member David as well as a few of uh the other students who had participated in clip loose performed that day for people in the community and of course it was absolutely incredible and um we actually were leading at the end of that. We were two blocks away and my husband was commenting how you can still hear them and it was incredible. Our our young people are just so talented
and um you know really makes you very proud to be a part of this school district and this community. >> Well, first and foremost it's really good to be here. I went to I graduated here 200. That's why I have a hat. I got this hat when I was a fifth grader. So, it's an original here. >> Um it's great to be here. Um one of the students who got nominated for the Roger the reason also went to Aaron Martin. He graduated the year after so he came from here. So a lot of great out from this school. Um the first thing I want to say before I got to the outline was I wanted to circle back into the science research course. I want to hear a little bit more collaboration. So what is
the course and what does it entail when participating? >> Great job asking that question David. We want to talk about some student advisory when we meet next week. >> Right. Um but this particular course is a first year course uh through a four year sequence. Uh year one is probably going to involve a lot of learning about research skills methodology. We're still deciding whether it's going to be focusing on just social sciences or full in sciences ladder. Um so with the natural sciences those going to learn how to do some of that very important equipment that's um particular with this newer updated scientific equipment order that um and then year two is going to build on that the competition we're still figuring all out there's a lot of different competitions that we're going to build
into it but the big competition maybe at the end of your junior year senior year which is the regener competition you probably hear a lot about the newspaper students from different school districts qualifying and go through but uh there will be different competitions uh nth grade 10th grade etc. >> Okay that's great we have our you know superintendent advisory council meeting that's going to be students that's and and that brings me to what I was thinking that that clears up what I was thinking um this lines up with the thought other school districts with their competitive courses say de or science Olympia or other competition that pertain to that material right and I feel like this is a great thing if you want like you want students involved go to this job having a course
that does that and reinforces that knowledge lot so I'll make sure to have a little bit more fleshed out for that because I feel using class time for electives a great deal I think is definite so we'll discuss that more next week um a little bit to discuss um not a lot going It's content season. There's a lot of concerts. Um there's going to be another one here tonight, right? >> Three. Try to go at least one. All right. Um and then the high school of course they have theirs in the 18th honors concert. That's going to be exciting. Give me that one. Um so all the students are performing at that really. And we had kids for our vocal jazz. They also performed the tree life and they did a wonderful job. So a
lot of students show me very well with that. Um, student government is hosting a movie night tomorrow, raising funds with the key club and some donations from vet and us. So, good to see our clubs working together and raising funds for your causes and of course we're counting down the days worked out. So winding down the day winding down and of course at the big superintendent advisory confisc with them and going on. So um that's definitely worth discussing. So going >> I just have to say something. How impressive is this young man? Just amazing. Like so many of our students. We're lucky to have move on to the comments and questions. So questions and comments can be submitted in advance by noon on the day of the meeting by emailing our district clerk at schools.org
or in person at the board meeting. So just a reminder, public discussion on matters pertaining to staff and students that could share reputation, privacy or right to due process or those of others could in some way be violated is prohibited. So the public comment portion of this meeting will be limited to residents, business owners, or employees of the Bulman School District. and is limited to a maximum of three minutes per person. We ask that you write your question in the index card. We have one here and we will call you up to the microphone to ask your question or share your comment. And then we ask that you please return to your seat after you ask your question. Is Judy here? and we'll follow up and contact. >> Yeah, you can say you can come
up. Yes, you can come up to the microphone and state your name and question. So um the first read tonight Jerry's a policy on the facility use forms updated um so polic policy is being revised first and then by hopefully January 14 will be adopted and then it's a matter of following policy um the policy those questions >> yes and we'll definitely follow up with that so you did mention first read and then you would probably bring that in January meeting with possibly with an update. >> January, >> yes. Yes. >> So after the January meeting where it's adopted, it will be available to everybody online to to read the entire policy. >> Can I just just allow I think there's a big for you to understand. We can't tell you that decision was made
regarding the question of C. They don't use the track because we have to go policy first as a board and adopt a policy that will either say yes or no to the question that you're asking. That's what we're saying. So the policy cannot be uh finalized and will be as finalized at the January meeting when it's finalized that will answer your question to the fact can they or can they track and that's why we can't answer specifically that question you're asking. have any comments, pleasures. Okay, so we're going to move on to our next agenda item.
