Good job. Oh my god. Give me one more. familiar. >> Hey, it's hot. Are you the security guard? Ready? I know you probably I like it. You're standing here. Right here. I don't know. Yeah. Are you ready? Get it. Get it. Okay. Goodbye. Can you die? Come here. Thank you. Yeah. Super. Happy Thank you. Michael Jackson. Hello. Well, we're not quite at 7 o'clock yet, but I thought I would introduce uh this is the fiddle club, and we've been meeting after school on Mondays throughout the here. Uh, this is a very dedicated group of violin violists and cellos. And there's even a bass player. And this bass player is a special guy. Round of applause for Mr. Whip. We have Joy and Sydney on the Heidi on the violin. Grace and Megan on the violin.

Hayden, Sawyer, and Nina on the So, this is the uh end of our uh what do you call it at at elementary school. This is our last concert for you as a fiddle club. So, um, it's going to be sad for me, but, uh, they're going up to middle school, and I'm sure they're going to have a wonderful time with Mrs. Collins. Um, I'm still waiting for a couple more people to filter in. So, >> I get the boring job of just doing the quick, you know, introductions and reminders. Um, we're so excited to have all of you here tonight. My name is, uh, Mrs. Lesby. And what's special about tonight is any student you see performing has decided to go above and beyond and put more time into their music studies. So these are

students who stay after school to participate in fiddle club and jazz club and also our drum clubs that you're going to see. So we always get excited to see this extra work because these are musicians who just want to be here and are really excited to show you what they've learned. Tonight's going to be a little bit different because you're going to see these four groups perform and there is a little bit of transition between each group that ensemble that will be up here. So, we ask that you just remain seated. Um they're they practice. They've already done this two times today. So, they'll be quick as they move in and out. If you have a little one, we do have the wiggle room set up in room 153. So, if you go out the

doors, uh you can always go see it in there if they just need to move around a little bit. Um, we'll keep the auditorium doors closed. Uh, so, you know, you can go out those back doors, especially if we're transitioning um, in between our different ensembles. Obviously, if the fire alarm were to sound, we're going to go out our closest doors. So, we do have these two doors and the two doors in the back. Um, we ask that you make sure your phones are turned off so we don't interrupt our musicians. I'm told it's about 45 minutes tonight, so we're going to be in and out of here very quickly. Um, and then my plug of the night is when you leave, please take a look at the lost and found. All of those clothes

have accumulated since spring break. Um, the student government and I organized many of those pieces tonight and we would love for you to take a few of your child's belongings home today. Um, so thank you so much for joining us. We I can't wait to hear these great musicians. And Fiddle Club is up first. >> Thought we'd kick things off with a road to Boston. Yes, honey. Happy birthday. Please. You are together. Thank you so much. Now, we're going to do a little mashup that I created. Uh, we're going to start with a little English tune called Britches Full of Stitches. We'll move on to the steamboat quick step. Glory. Hallelujah. God. Heat. Heat. Thank you. Hallelujah. Well, thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed that. It's first time ever. Um, we are going

to be playing Old Joe Clark to finish things off. I just want to thank you parents for uh picking up your kids and allowing them to participate in this wonderful music program and be part of the fiddle club. So that's the fiddle club and we'll finish up with old Joe Clark. He had a house stojo And around Joe Clark. I went down my table and Joe Clark were gone in her goodbye Lucy. Happy birthday. Clark and around the clock Lucy love. Byebye everybody. Oh, I Welcome to the fourth free drum club portion of our concert. Both of our songs today are based on poems. For our first song, Mother Goose on the loose. We'll be playing rhythm pattern from Peter Peter Pumpkin Beater and Old McDonald. You will also be hearing some of our drummers

play solo. Soloist, please stand up and welcome to the audience. >> Thank you. We hope you enjoyed the fourth grade drum. Heat. Heat. Ei o. Hey. E I E I O. Hey Five, six, seven, eight. Hey. Woo! >> Good evening everyone. It is so nice to see you all. I've written notice because I have the memory of the goldfish at this point. My name is Emily Phillips and I'm the director of our fourth grade drum club. We have 30 super awesome fourth graders who have been practicing with us every single week since January and right now they are very quickly transitioning to their next song which I know that you will enjoy. I want to make sure that I point out tonight that at least half of these kids, if not up to twothirds, are

actually performing in their very first concert ever today, which is really exciting. So, let's give them a round of applause for that. Um, while he does not go to school here, I am also the parent of a fourth grader, so I know how much time and energy you guys spend on all the different activities that you do. And I just wanted to say a quick thank you for supporting your children's musical endeavors because making helping them make time for music is really just going to pay so many dividends in the future in so many ways for their well-being and their mental health and their overall happiness. It is such a great investment that you're making and it's going to make such a difference in their lives. So, thank you for giving them this gift because

I really appreciate it and I know that they do, too. And without further ado, I don't have a lot left to say, so I'm turning it over to my friend Jade. >> Can you imagine what would happen if elephant tried to jump over a fence? For our last song, the elephant, we'll combine many different instruments until everyone is playing together at the end. Every group has its own unique part. two instruments will play the same. You'll even see some musicians which instruments halfway through. We work really hard on the song and we hope you love it as much as we did. I asked my mother to see the elephant jump. He jumped so high. He touched the sky and didn't come back to the Snake I'm going Good evening everyone. >> Mr. Timber. Hi, my

name is Jessica Perry and I'm the very proud director of our fifth grade jazz band that you see in front of me tonight. Um, all of these students participate in fifth grade regular band. Fifth grade parents will see you again on June 2nd for the fifth grade band orchestra and chorus concert. Um, and these students again are the ones that wanted more music and um, I'm so thrilled to have them. Um, this is a particularly exciting evening because you are about to hear three world premiieres of three new tunes and um, we know that there are probably some surprised family members out there when they open the program because every single one of these tunes was written by members of this jazz band that you see in front of you tonight. >> So, we will

introduce you to the composers at the end of this piece. Um, I know that you are seasoned professionals at this by now. Um, but just a friendly reminder that in the jazz tradition, you'll see some improvisers and it is appropriate to give them some quick applause when they're done with their solo. Uh, but to keep it brief so we'll be ready to hear that next soloist. Um, this first tune again written by four of the students you see in front of you is called Hip Hop Pop. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Thank you so much. You've heard from our improvisers, Greta on clarinet and Anderson on trumpet. And uh not only is Anderson one of our composers, but also in our trumpet section, Austin, Levi, and Grayson wrote this team. >> Our next tune this

evening, again, another student composition. So, the way that this kind of worked is the students learned about kind of what goes into making a 12 bar blues and um into the melodies or the heads, the main tunes. um they kind of split into groups and came up with some ideas and then the band kind of played them all for each other and we found a few that we really really liked and then they kind of joined in and made larger groups and came up with the arrangement. The arrangement is kind of like what happens when when they're going to play together when it's going to be a solo when there's a little bit of call and response. Um, call in response. One group says something, the group responds, right? Um, let's go but >> right

like that. Worth the bills make me want to >> just like that. So listen for those little moments on this piece as well. Um, so up next we have um our next sing Pez Blues. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Thank you so much. And our composers on that one. In our trombone section, we have Carson. And then in our saxophone section, you also heard a solo from Nikki um uh Nicholas Martone and Willow. And we have a solo from Carly. All right, our last tune tonight. Um, you're going to hear a solo from Lulu and a drum set solo from Ryan's. Not often you get a fifth grade drum set solo. Man, he is rocking over there. Um, coincidentally, Ryan is one of our composers for this piece along with Rory and Charlie in the saxophone

section and JJ over there holding down time on the tambourine. Um, thank you so much for being here with us this evening. Um, stay tuned because fifth grade drum club will be up next. Again, fifth grade families will see you June 2nd. And fourth grade families will see some of you on June 11th for the fourth grade concert. Thanks for being here tonight. Heat. Heat. Heat. Woo! 1 2 3 4 Heat. Heat. Stay tuned. It'll take us a minute to get set up for good. Harley He's Michael. All right, everybody. All right, everybody. Hello. My name is Mrs. Mether. I'm the director of the fifth grade drum club. All these fabulous students behind me. We're going to end our portion of the concert with two pieces. The first one is called Monkey Dance. And in

the monkey dance, there are lots of layered parts that happen simultaneously. Um, on their own, the parts are not that difficult. But when you layer all these weaving sort of puzzle pieces together, it can be really difficult to maintain your part. And so you'll hear different parts come in, different parts come out. Sometimes you layer five at a time, sometimes you layer two. Hence the monkey dance all around with all our different parts. Um, our second piece there won't be an introduction before it. Um, but we really hope that you enjoy it nonetheless. Here we go. Heat. Heat. Thank you. I don't know. My go And all my people rising up to the battle and the last night he's watching. They stand a we rising up to the challenge and the last driver of the

the glory. the rising up to the challenge of our last night Thank you. Another round of applause for our Michael Jackson. >> We cannot forget our music. >> The most fun about fifth grade drum club is all of the ideas. So at the beginning like, "Hey, what do you guys want to do?" and the drum club being like, "We should do eye of the tiger." And then like, "No, wait, but we should also do beat it, but we should do like a beat it and eye of the tiger mashup and then like Michael Jackson comes out and all these and like it's just so much fun to make all of these ideas come to life." So, this one was the brainchild of all these wonderful students here. Um, and we really appreciate you coming out

tonight, supporting all your musicians, getting them to and fro, signing them up, um, making sure that they attend even when life gets busy and life gets hard. So, thank you very, very much. Um, Before we say goodbye, we have a small request. Um, even though I technically have four hands on my body, somehow I can lift less stuff when we move things. Um, so if you have any students who are willing to stay, um, and you have a little time in your schedule to spare 15ish minutes, we would love to have some student help staring um, tearing down the stage, moving the instruments, um, just getting everything cleaned up because there's a massive amount of equipment up here. So students, if you want to help, we would love it, but you do need to ask

um, permission from your Please don't just stay and disappear and then everybody's wondering where you are. Um so if they have permission that would be great. Otherwise um I think that's everything. I hope you have a wonderful evening everybody. Thank you very much.
