And at this point, we're going to turn it over to Kyla for our student exeicio board member. >> Hi. So, this month at all of the schools, there was a lot of holiday events and spirit weeks and activities like that. So, while most of the schools shared that in common, and the students really did enjoy it a lot, and they're having a great time. And as Dr. Cox said, the spirit is high and energyy's high and everyone's excited for break. Um, at the primary schools, they did a focus a lot on community and kindness. And they did they had a lot of holiday themed events in the activities in their classrooms. They also had holiday boutiques where the students were able to shop for their families. And most of the primary schools participated in the

toys for tots fundraiser and they started giving back to those in need. And it was nice for them to like gather toys and know they're making a good difference. At Wood Park, second grade students are going to be having the chance to be anchors on the Wood Park weekly. Um, that's their new news channel and this is going to be super exciting for them because it's a great leadership opportunity for the students and the kids and the staff are super excited to see it take place. At Indian Hollow, students enjoyed celebrating spirit day where they recognized the students who embodied the com champion traits. They're also this week doing a spirit week leading up to the holiday break. At Northridge, students celebrated computer science and education week. And they did this by participating in coding

and technology projects. For example, kindergarten students got to make digital um holiday books. And this was good for them because they worked on their technology skills and their creativity together and they had a great time doing it. At Rolling Hills, the students are participating in Winter Wonderland week and they're having a great time. And also in the end of November, I got to visit Rolling Hills, which was a really great visit for me because I went to Rolling Hills as my primary school. And it was nice to see the teachers that I had and walk around the building. And the students were so excited to tell me everything that they love about their school and show me around. They told me about how they love art and all the projects that they make and they

love music and of course recess cuz they get to talk to their friends. And they did tell me that they wanted to have more time in their discovery den. and they were really excited to show me about the Thanksgiving like projects and workshops that they had and it was super cute. They had like filters and everything and it was really nice to see that. >> They took us and turned us into turkeys with their >> turn us into turkeys >> with their computers. Um, at Burr they had their first family champion night which was a night where families came together with the students and it was had so they could all talk about the com champion traits together and they've had a lot of positive feedback from that night and they're excited to start this

as an annual and like occurring tradition. Um, they also had their staffer day on December 15th where five students were picked to be staff members. is the principal, assistant principal, secretary, um teacher, and custodian. And when they like asked the students who they wanted to be for the day, the one that got the most responses was custodian. So, [laughter] um yes, very funny. At Sawmill, Keelin won a statewide cabbage growing contest. This is the second year in a row that Sawmill won the contest, which is pretty pretty cool cuz it's statewide. Um, the Sawmill also had the rotation basketball tournament which the gym teachers hosted and both Saw and Burr had their winter concerts. The students performed really well and a lot of kids from the primary schools got to go to these winter concerts,

see the schools that they're going to be going to next year and they got to have a great concert experience. At the middle school, they also did a lot of giving back. They had the adopt a family program which they've been doing for 10 years and it was really successful. The kids brought in a lot of presents for families in need. They also had the Thanksgiving food drive which is run by the student government and that was really successful this year. At the middle school, Comarmac High School students also got to visit and tell them about their college psychology and education class which is a newer class and a lot of the kids at the middle school seemed really interested and wanting to learn more about it and join the class. It's also a good

class at the high school and everyone that takes it loves it. Um, at the high school, we had a lot of exciting things. They're focusing on hands-on learning with the schools of programming so that students can develop more skills for the future and get a start on that program. Um, we also had our schoolwide Thanksgiving food drive which was run by student life and it was really successful. They even told us to stop bringing in turkeys because we brought [laughter] too many. Um, and then my favorite thing we had this month, um, we hosted the Compassion Without Borders Leadership Conference, which I've been asking Miss Living Hold to host for the last two years cuz I think we could host it better than any school. And I think we did. But basically, we had like

over 400 students come to our school >> and they met in breakout rooms with kids from our school that ran them. And basically they just talked about different things that their district or their school does that they love like different events and stuff and that way they could get ideas from each other and hopefully make a positive impact in their school and their community and as we say level up because that's what COMA likes to do. >> Thank you so much Kyla. It was it was phenomenal. There were over 34 plus school districts at the high school and the entire event was led by students which was something spectacular. And of course when we do things we go above and beyond. We had the food truck, we had our musicians playing and it was um

it was it was just an outstanding event for students across Long Island and to build those bonds. So thank you so much Kyla for your report. I don't know how you fit any time into your studies because your report is so thorough. And uh in getting to know Kyla, she shared with me how late she stays up to study and what time she gets in the morning, but I don't want to scare any of our younger students who are going to high school to think that that is normal. Um but she is such a hard worker and we are so proud of you. So, thank you so much. >> All right. um the next portion of our presentation. And with that said, Kyla, if you have I know you've always have like six or seven

exams and things to study for and prepare. So, if you're um if you want to leave, it's up to you. >> You know what I was thinking? I was looking at that picture before of the the young the young girl with the with the cabbage. >> Uh it's very anggetish. >> Back slightly >> like um say Anggetis. So, we could probably do a fundraiser and do like a Comarmac Agricultural College from Mary Carl Farm with a lot of our little kids with different vegetables or the bees or and and feature them and maybe little fundraiser. What do you think? >> Sounds good. I I was >> superintendent uh can hit the calendar. Yeah, >> I spent some time cooking just this past weekend. They sent me home with uh some homegrown tulips. Uh not turnups.

I'm sorry. Tulips. [laughter] >> Don't eat those. But the turnups were great. and um and the carrots and a and a couple of carrots. It's it's there's a it's special soil at Marian Carl Farm. Clearly two years in a row the largest cabbage >> um in the state of New York. >> Great. >> I'm sorry, Mike. >> Fine. [laughter] >> Don't worry about it. >> Dr. Anda, take it away. >> All right. Thank you, sir. So, tonight we're presenting to the board about the Smart Schools Bond Act. Uh specifically, we're asking the board to consider the approval of uh what we're calling our preliminary plan number three. So tonight's presentation or you know this short presentation is really divided into two parts. Um I'll call it old news Mike and then new news which is

going to be a lease. So to give a little background for the board, um couple years ago, a long time ago, $2 billion was authorized by the state for schools to upgrade their connectivity, whether it be within the school or the classroom, their classroom technology, and a few other things as well. Comocation was $3.5 million. So with that $3.5 million, uh COMAC had um the opportunity to strengthen network, um put classroom learning technology in, and we are still um using some of that money to date. Um I will share that our first plan was submitted to the state um prior to 2019 and was approved in 2019 and that cost about $1.8 million of the original but that plan was very important. You know we have um a great network setup. Um the purpose of

that plan was to set us up for success in a onetoone environment in the future. So that um project included firewalls, it included switches, it included um wireless access points and most importantly included network redundancy in a hub and spoke model so that if any part of the network fell down another part of the network would pick it up. Um, with that, uh, it also included interactive whiteboards, 1500 notebook computers, um, which would come in handy a year later. Um, classroom mounting systems, um, a requirement for the non-public schools, and it also included door door hardening, which are the locks, but I will share that that was removed and done through the bond as that was a priority of the time. So, there is an amendment at the state to get that money back to

due to a future plan. Um, our second plan was done in March of 2023. Uh that was a smaller plan just shy of about a half a million dollars. Um and again that was network um and infrastructure upgrades. So you can see a list there. Um I do ask that nobody on the board asks me what a 1048 E48 port rack mountable is because I'll have to make something up. Um but those things were definitely needed by our tech department to make sure that our infrastructure is up and running. Um so again you can see here that we had a um a smaller plan. Um so those are the two plans that we have. Um, with that, our remaining smart schools allocation is about 1.1 million. And we're here tonight to show plan three in

its preliminary form. Now, as Dr. Cox mentioned, um, smart schools, it has quite a process to it. Um, you can see where we are on the process. Uh, Miss Pium will speak about stakeholder input and some of these other things, but tonight we're asking the board to adopt the prelim preliminary plan. Later, um, we'll come back in February. We'll have a public hearing. There'll be a 30-day comment period. um at which point then we can submit the final plan in March. It's anticipated um to uh NYSAD for them to go through their approval process which does of course take some time. So that's the old news. Um I would like to introduce to you the new news. Uh Miss Pole to talk about the new plan. I will warn you this was the calmer part

of the presentation. I saw her drink two energy drinks at about six o'clock. So this is Hold on to your seats. [laughter] >> Thank you Mike. Hello everyone. Um so with the remaining uh most of the remaining allocations that we have from the smart schools bond we are looking to do the following things. Uh we are looking to replace the firewall again. Um I know it may seem like from what Mike just explained we just did it. However it will be seven almost eight years later by the time this money comes through and this plan gets approved and that is about the life cycle of a firewall. It's very important that we keep on top of those things and that we are replacing them before support ends or things go end of life. So on

this time cycle when this should be approved, we will be looking at at the exact same time that that should be we should be looking to do that. Also, we are looking to add Wi-Fi connectivity in both the middle school and high school auditorium. Um this uh at the stakeholder meeting was very wellreceived as this would be able to add connectivity for many things including large-scale instruction. You know, when you're in there for a concert, whatever it might be, we would be able to have uh wireless connectivity for students or anybody who's in that space. Finally, for the uh instructional technology, we are looking to finalize the replacement of interactive flat boards, flat panel boards in the district. So, any classroom that still has a projector board or a old school quote unquote smartboard will

be replaced in this plan with an interactive flat panel board. That does include u mobile boards. That does include in ensuring that every instructional space whether it be um a gymnasium for physical education or whatever it might be a small class for you know speech or small group instruction that every space has an interactive board in it. We will be doing that in both wall-mounted boards as well as smaller you know kiosk spaces that can be mobiley used for you know um small group instruction whether it be in a social work class um pushing class or speech classes whatever it is. Not every space has the space for a large board. So, we're going to use uh large mounted boards, mobile boards, and you know, smaller boards for that as well. Um it includes also

um one of the um labs at the high school an art lab getting some new PCs replaced um some some kind of high-end gaming PCs for that space as well. So, that is what this plan is going to be for. Technically, it is being split into two separate plans. And that is simply just because the firewall and the wireless need to get um assessed by the office of facilities management. Good. See, we're a great team over here. The office of facilities management and the instructional technology does not. And I do not want to hold up that plan. So, we are simultaneously at the same time setting up both plans with the hope that the instructional technology plan will be approved first. part of um the process for the state is that we get input for

stakeholder input. So we got that stakeholder input on 1210 at the technology steering committee there were students, teachers, administrators and community members in attendance. There was a lot of great input. Like I said, I believe that the uh even though the uh interactive flat panels went over great and the committee input, the wireless infrastructure in the auditoriums were very well received. People are really looking for that. Um so that committee really spoke about we talked a lot about what the purpose of you know what you could spend that money on. Um and you know the the committee input was in line with the plan that we are putting forward to you today for adoption for the preliminary plan. And again just a reminder to everyone that what you just because you might not see something

included in this smart schools plan does not mean that there are not other ways and places that we are funding certain things. There are a number of different funding sources that we have. We spend a lot of time administratively going over budgeting supplemental um information, you know, budgeting for technology, sustainability over time. And so if something's not included in this plan, that doesn't mean it's not included in some place. Okay. >> Thank you, Elise. >> Questions from the board? >> Yeah, I just did have uh two quick questions. one um and I know Dr. Infora mentioned a little bit about it before but the requirement for the non-publix it looks like most of the things that we are getting in round three and four uh do not require us to make much of a contribution

to the non-publix. Do we know how much of a contribution we need to make to the nonpubliclix based on the 1 million that we have? >> Yeah. >> So it's interesting because the original plan uh set aside in the mount for nonpublic school which is no longer within district boundaries. So, we're working with our new nonpublic school to have an allocation set for them and a future plan that is appropriate for them. >> Gotcha. Thank you. And um the replacement replenishment cycle for our um interactive flat panel boards. Um, do we have a plan moving forward or currently have a plan in terms of as we go through the so that we're not purchasing 250 boards at one time but rather a cycle of >> Absolutely. So this um plan finalizes the remaining boards. There

is um internal funding that we have been using to replace them over time. The great part about the IFPs is that they have a longer life cycle and a better warranty than the smartboards do themselves. So, I do think that the longevity of these boards will be better, which puts in uh a different type of sustainability plan that we would have had to have with the smartboards. >> Great. Thank you so much. >> You're welcome. >> Any other questions? I have a question. So, the plan one and two was covered by the uh funding for the 3.5 million, correct? So plan three and four that one 1 million12 is covered from where we used all that money correct. So >> no the the 1 million is the remaining balance. >> Okay. So that's the balance.

Okay. Thank you. >> Any any other questions from the board? >> So looking forward to January. Um we're excited to share with you a presentation on our learning and development academy. This is something that we have put in place um and the curriculum team has worked very hard on making sure that our new staff are prepared and transitioned into COMAC seamlessly. Um it starts in year one but it has grown into year two and year three. In year four it has turned into um almost a four-year program because the teachers are looking for more of that PD. And I think that in addition to the curriculum team, our uh union has partnered with them to make sure that they're working side by side uh to ensure that our teachers come in, they understand the culture

of KOMA, what the expectations are, and make sure that they feel supported. So, we want to thank the CTA as well for partnering with us. So, that presentation um will be done in January. So, that concludes our administrative report. At this point, I turn it back to you, Mr. Huber, for the business portion of the meeting. >> All right. Thank you. Thank you so much. Uh I'm going to ask Miss Hermit to read the uh board of education meeting statement for our first public session. >> Good evening and welcome. We're so glad you're here with us tonight. Your voice matters and we truly appreciate your involvement and interest in our schools. There are two opportunities for public comment during this meeting. The first is for comments related to items listed on tonight's agenda. The second,

which takes place at the end of the meeting, is for comments on any general school district matters. If you'd like to speak on an agenda item, please take a white card. If you'd like to speak during general partic uh public participation, please take a green card. The district clerk will call speakers by number. When it's your turn, please come to the microphone, say your name, and let us know if you're a resident of the district. Each speaker has up to three minutes to speak and will kindly notify you when your time is up. Please direct your comments to the board only. These public comment times are for listening and gathering feedback. We won't be responding in real time, but if a question is raised that requires follow-up, we'll be sure to get back to you

afterwards. To maintain a respectful and welcoming environment, please avoid discussing individual students or making personal remarks positive or negative about specific staff members. Lastly, we want to make sure everyone feels heard, so we ask that comments remain respectful, focused, and not repetitive or disruptive. Thank you again for being here tonight and for your ongoing support for our students and schools. Okay. So, this is the white card. These are for items on agenda items only. So, if you have a white card number one, you may get up to the microphone. >> No. Okay. >> Okay. All right. We're going to move on with the agenda. Uh, at this point, I'm going to make a motion to approve the minutes from the November 20th, 2025 board of education meeting. Can I get a motion? >> Can I

get a second? Second. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Uh, I need a motion to approve the personnel agenda. Uh, can I get a motion? >> Motion. >> Can I get a second? >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I need a motion to approve the consent agenda items as presented and or amended numbers 2 through 11. Can I get a motion? >> Motion. >> Second. All those in favor? >> I I >> And we are right at the second participation. So Miss Verger, >> that was quick. Yeah. Making up a lost time. [laughter] >> One sec. >> Oh, personnel agenda. Yes. Oh, I'm sorry. Uh Mr. Mr. Ocean has a um >> Couple of highlights from that personnel agenda. >> Absolutely. Uh the first piece that I want to share with

the community is we have some tenure recipients tonight. We're going to honor them at our June Board of Education meeting. Um I'm also proud to announce the appointment and the promotion from one of our teaching assistants at Northridge Primary School to a probationary special education teacher position at Northridge. Congratulations and welcome to Ellie Cornine. [applause] >> Okay, Miss Verger. So, I did promise this. So, green card number 67. >> Oh, [laughter] all right. >> I had to do it. >> No, you didn't. >> Come on. It's the holiday. It's the holidays. I had to do it. Okay. Green card number one. >> 67. [laughter] >> I had to do it. Sorry. >> You can give it, Miss Burger. Yeah, you can hand it to Miss Burger. >> Yes. >> Thank you. I appreciate her telling

that joke before this. So, good evening. Uh, my name is Todd Riggs. I'm a resident here in Comarmac, as well as a parent of, uh, two Comarmac High School athletes. I'm here representing myself, my family, the community, and approximately about 50 other similarly upset parents and players within the CMAC football program. My conversation tonight is not an easy one, but it's necessary because one uh, because the current leadership within the COMAC football program is failing our students. Our request is for a change in the leadership. It's not based on hurt feelings. It's not a group of disgruntled parents who are upset about playing time or wins and losses. This is a request for change based on the years of evidence showing the current lack of dedication, leadership, lack of accountability, and commitment to the program

and its athletes. When these students are met, I'm sorry, [clears throat] when these students aren't met, when these standards aren't met, these the students that suffer the most. Our student athletes deserve someone who's fully committed to the players in the program. Someone who leads by example. Someone who makes an effort to show up to every practice, every workout, every event, motivating the players to do the same. Someone who has high expectations of themselves and their team. Someone who displays the hard work and dedication that it takes to achieve those expectations. And someone who, when expectations aren't met, will take accountability and not make excuses, deflect blame, especially at the players. Tonight's conversation is not an effort to badmouth anyone. It's just I want to convey how passionate myself and the other parents are about the

need for change. The process has already begun, but we feel at this point we haven't gotten very far. I've had several conversations over the past four years with the current coach. My last conversation was on November 4th where I formally asked him to retire. He declined the request and through our conversations like so many before, he confirmed the lack of virtues I stated above. Uh an email was sent to the athletic director requesting a meeting that happened on December 2nd. I about 45 minutes I passionately laid out a detailed fact-based dissertation on why the change is needed. Um I presented the uh athletic director with a copy of everything that was discussed. Um and then asked for a followup. Uh the only thing that we've received so far was we do not have an update

at this time about the our football program next year. We feel that this was dismissive of our concerns. So that brings me to tonight. Myself and the other 50 parents and players that I represent are requesting a full detailed policy regarding how a coaching staff is selected at the high school level here at COMAC. We're requesting this information be made available before the end of the year of 2025. We also request that you begin to consider the replacement of the current coaching staff at Comarmac High School. We are fully prepared to continue this campaign as far as it's needed, but we hope that resolution will be made soon. These requests are made with the best interest of the students, our program, and the community. I believe that football is the greatest sport, team sport ever

played. It brings families and community together. But when the players are unhappy playing, coaches are unhappy coaching, it not only hurts the sport, but more importantly, more importantly, it hurts the student athletes. We respectfully ask these requests be addressed formally and in writing. And I gave a copy of this to everyone with my email and phone number. >> Thank you, Mr. Rex. Thank you. Green card number two. Number three. Anyone else for a green card? Okay. >> Okay. All right. At this point, we'll acknowledge receipt of the professional services from Bond uh Bond Shunnik and King PLLC for the month ending October 31st, 2025 in the amount of $9,1120. No motion. Yeah, we're just acknowledging. But thank you for the motion. I'm going to acknowledge receipt of the internal claims auditor's monthly report. Uh acknowledge

receipt of the uh recommendation for the committee on special education dates listed. And for the uh acknowledge the receipt of the recommendations for the committee on preschool special education uh dates listed. I got a dollar receipt uh of the October 2025 financial reports as listed. And the board of education for the Coming Free School District shall hold its regular meeting on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 6 p.m. at Hubs Administration building in East Northport, New York. Uh it is anticipated that the board is going to make a motion to propose adjourning into executive session at this time 7 pm. The board will reconvene in public session for the purpose of holding its regular business meeting. And with that being said, I just want to extend everybody a happy holiday. Um, and we will see you

next year on June 5th, uh, January 15th. Uh, when probably most of you have, uh, gotten over your New Year's resolutions, I would think. Maybe some of you are still active, but I'll give you two weeks. Uh, so that's all. Uh, motion to adjurnn. >> Oh. Oh, we're not we're not journing. All right. It's it's a motion to adjourn into executive session uh at 8:00 PM for the purpose of discussing uh pending litigation in the matters of LV versus Comarmac Union Free School District uh negotiations conducted pursuant to the CH law involving CTAA and CSGA and employment of a particular employee >> and also to seek advice from board attorneys. A motion >> second. >> Thank you very much. All right. Thank you all for coming and really enjoy the holidays.
