good yeah i was standing for the pledge good evening board president to advise members of the audience that they may address the board regarding agenda items after the superintendent's report only those members whose names and addresses are listed on the signing sheet available prior to the start of the meeting will be recognized during new business the chairperson will limit discussion of any item by the public to three minutes in order for the board to expeditiously conduct its business mr dolan good evening ladies and gentlemen um really we're open we're moving forward um i would like to point you in the direction of sometime in about a week and a half we're going to be posting a video that's going to address some of the long-range concerns moving forward in 2015 we convened a long-range planning
committee which was able to come up with the uh the plan that's gotten us to where we are here with all the projects in the bond uh the video will show what we've done and at the end of the video there are several areas of concern moving forward that we need to address we have to look at our declining enrollment we have more capital projects that need to be done we want to look at our delivery of instruction as the kids that are in school today will be working well into the 21st century 2060 2070 and beyond and we want to also address the long-range maintenance plan i want to stress the folks on a long-range planning committee from 2015 2016 2017 should be commended because they created a plan and they set goals and
when you see the video you will see what they were able to accomplish but what you'll notice in the video at the end of this video what we the challenge is to find new people who want to be here and want to continue to build on what that committee did in 2015 2016 and 2017. so that video will be posted a week from friday we'll give people a chance to look at it we will discuss it at our next board meeting and we will be we'll be convening a new long-range planning committee in december after we receive our next enrollment numbers from boces our enrollment projections um i think it's actually a very exciting thing you know there are some challenges no doubt but one of the things i'm extremely proud of is that how
this town pulled together had a vision set a goal set a timetable and we were able to not only accomplish the things on that list but we accomplished seven several things that we we did not think we could get to and we did it in a fiscally responsible way we stayed within the budget and were able to provide some extras for our students moving forward whether it's in the area of facilities or academics so um you know the temptation would be to take a break say let's take a year or two off and celebrate and kind of look at what we've done but i commend the board of education and the administrative team for the district for saying nope we don't rest we don't celebrate we don't waste time we're looking to do more for
the district we're looking to do more for the kids and we're looking to um you know continue to push east islip forward so a week from friday look for that video watch the video and if you would like to be part of the long-range planning committee we would like to see you you know in december so that's my report for tonight so thank you very much thank you mr dolan okay any public comments on agenda items agenda items only 6.1 be resolved that upon the recommendation the superintendent of schools the board of education approves the resignations terminations leaves of absence position abolitions employment appointments tenure appointments and salary changes in accordance with applicable provisions of education law and civil service law as cited and the certified personnel attachments take a motion second discussion all in
favor be resolved that upon the recommendation the superintendent of schools the board of education approves the resignations terminations leaves of absence position abolitions employment appointments tenure appointments and salary changes in accordance with applicable provisions of education law and civil service law as cited in the non-certified attachments okay get a motion second all in favor aye aye be resolved that upon the recommendation of superintendent schools the board of education approves the pay increases for those confidential clericals made confidential on or after march 1 2006 including those who received additional step increases or additional monetary increases at the time of confidential appointment in the amount of four thousand dollars effective september 23rd 2020. can i get a motion second discussion all in favor all right consent agenda i believe we're going to remove 9.15 the appropriation changes
so be resolved upon the recommendation i'm sorry be resolved that the board of education upon the recommendation the superintendent of schools of the board of education approves the consent agenda items 9.1 to 9.4 and 9.16 in accordance with the action presented for each item okay get a motion second all in favor aye aye aye nine point one five be resolved that upon the recommendation superintendent of schools the board of education approves the attach list of appropriation changes for the 21 22 school years taking a motion motion second mr harrison what are the changes in this one i'll first address the 2122 changes which there are only one uh to cover uh an order of additional books for the library so we appropriated funds from one account to another so we can make that purchase as
it is normal for this time of year uh we're closing the books from 2020-21 and uh there are year-round adjustments we made to cover any accounts that may have and mostly their salary codes because people move from during the budget process to when they actually work in the school year so we're moving salaries from one code to another to cover these expenditures so those are the bulk of the changes for 2020 21. thank you all in favor aye all right hi any old business old business no no business all right new business uh mr manzo there's a field trip uh yes we uh have a group of students participating in this month and uh that's coming up i believe in november so i'm trying to pull this up i'm sorry december 2nd through december 5th
so we're requesting permission to have our students participate in this one great awesome any other new business i had new business i just wanted to thank mr manzo for the 9 11 ceremonies that were held on the the field for both the middle school and the high school they were excellent events that were put together and i appreciate all his efforts that he did for that and i think the community did as well so thank you thank you thank you thank you mr manzo um also i know that meet the teachers were virtual it's not optimal obviously there were going to be issues with covid and maybe cleaning the desks and everything after the meet the teacher if it was in person i just want to say thank you to our staff our teachers i
know the presentations that i saw were great i'm sure they'd rather be up in front of the classroom for for for 20 minutes and talk to you than all the time they must have spent doing the presentation so so thank you to our staff for doing that and hopefully we look forward to our parents meeting their teachers whenever that's possible so thank you again to our teachers any other new business stephanie stop the clock take off the mask to speak is that okay okay thank you i'll answer it but thank you sir trust me we don't want to be here but we're fighting for our children so i want to bring it back bring it all the way back to the constitution and the bill of rights and like we said earlier hold on we
hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness the 14th amendment was ratified july 9 1868. in it it states no state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the united states nor shall any state deprive any person of life liberty or property without due process of law nor deny any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws kicking it old school liberty according to merriam-webster is the power to do as one pleases it's also the freedom from physical restraint freedom from arbitrary or dispatch control and the power of choice so when i hear that to me it sounds
like our liberties are being infringed and our children's obviously so i just want to talk about that briefly everyone thinks we're crazy there's dozens of math studies this is just one this study here it's written by kai kizemeski paul gaboni and oliver hirsch and the cover says is a mask that covers the mouth and nose free from undesirable side effects and everyday use and free potential hazards so they basically looked at a lot of studies they did basically a meta-analysis there was a total of 65 scientific papers on mass qualified for a purely content-based evaluation these included 14 reviews and two meta-analysis of the mathematically value valuable groundbreaking 44 papers with significant negative mask effects 22 were published in 2020 22 were published before the kovind kova 19 pandemic and of these 44 publications percent
were experimental nature and the remains were observational studies thirty percent most of the publication in question were in english hold on i'll just skip that um thirty papers refer to surgical mask thirty papers related to n95 and ten studies pertain to fabric mask and there's a lot in here but i just want to go over a couple of different points because it's like a 40 page study as early as 2005 an experimental dissertation demonstrated that wearing surgical masks and healthy medical personnel leads to measurable physical effects with elevated transcutaneous carbon dioxide values after 30 minutes the role of dead space volume and co2 retention as a cause of the significant change in blood gases on the way to hypercadmium which is still within the limits was discussed in the article mask expand the natural dead
space outwards and beyond the nose and mouth mass wearers as a whole show a striking free frequency of typical measurable physiological changes associated with the mask and there's a lot of data but let's see i'm trying i don't want to say too much but i'll use the read this one paragraph the documented mask-induced changes in blood gases toward hypercabnia which is an increased carbon dioxide and co2 blood levels and hypoxia decreased oxygen and o2 blood levels may result in additional non-physical effects such as confusion decreased thinking ability and disorientation including overall impaired cognitive abilities and decrease in psychomotoric abilities this highlights the importance of changes in blood gas parameters as a cause of clinically relevant physiological and neurological effects in an experimental setting with different masks a significant increase in heart rate decrease in oxygen
saturation with an increase in skin temperature under the mask and difficulty breathing were recorded in many they also observed dizziness impaired thinking concentration problems which was also statistically significant masks also interfere with temperature regulation impair the field of vision ends of non-verbal and verbal communication maybe if you can't finish your your point your three minutes has been up wow um so i i know i'm like the only one speaking today there's a lot of data that we could read so if you can okay wearing the mask causes detectable physical adverse reactions impaired in cognition headaches and 71 of the participants so forth and so forth i'm going to skip everything here and obviously we know the psychological side effects and dangers as well so since you're not giving me much time i'll just skip this
and one thing i do want to talk about here is in the new york state constitution and law when it comes to social services sos 371 the definitions of an abused child means a child less than 18 years of age whose parent or other person legally responsible for his care one inflicts or allows to be inflicted upon such child physically physical injury by other than accidental means which causes or creates a substantial risk of death or serious or protracted disfigurement a protracted impairment of physical or emotional health or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily organ the function of any bodily organ so what i'm trying to obviously point out here is that this is child abuse and according to new york state law this is child abuse you got it i
hope someone's on her way hopefully she'll make it here before i'm done well she'll speak more hopefully if we can get her in but there's a lawsuit right now that i'm sure you're aware of you guys received an email you all everyone on the board and i'm sure the superintendent as well received an email regarding a lawsuit that they're suing the department of health and here as parents in this district we are asking you to please sign on as a plaintiff at the very least please we're asking to speak to the law firm you know we want to see action we want to see that you're trying we want to see that you're fighting for our children because what is going on it's against our constitution but nobody cares right it's it's child abuse but
nobody cares because everyone just cares about their own job and their own butts they don't care about our children they don't care about their health this is clearly having an effect on our children psychologically biologically and nobody cares we're sick of this we're going to pull our kids out of school because we had enough and if we're not going to win on this we know the further mandates that are coming down when it comes to the vaccine when that's mandated the enrollment is going to drop no one will be in these schools how will you all function how will you have jobs when nobody is here when there's no children to teach we want you to stand up for us please we are begging you begging you listen to that god-driven intuition within you because
our founding fathers they were geniuses they were and the people running the government today quite frankly are idiots and all that matters to them is money and greed that's it that's all they care about so i just wanted to state my piece and that's good enough thank you stephanie hello um i'm here tonight to discuss some of what this young woman just began with so a few weeks ago there was an email sent to the board on behalf of an organization called save our schools and they asked me to represent for east islip and i'm so happy to do so so the letter which was sent on september 3rd had stated and was sent to the president uh christopher zachary uh the vice president william karpluck jorgen michael jorgens stephen rulin joanne walsh and also
to the district clerk and it stated that there is a lawsuit that has been taken up by two school districts and now that's growing we're so happy to hear that so the legal action against the state is formulated to protect all of us including the board members most of uh most important the board members because you're our elected officials and so we depend on you to protect our local control what we have is a situation here in which new york state regulation codified at 10 ny ccr 2.60 was arbitrarily and capriciously leaned into under under statute but pulled amended and then reinserted without proper legislative process so as a result of this we ask that you join this legal action action because it's instrumental to protecting the rights of local authorities parents the school boards
taxpayers this legal action is not masked versus unmask it's about constitutional rights we sent this letter to you and we asked for a simple response by a certain time and we we expressed you that we understood there was a circle of superintendents which was unfortunate working against the interests of our communities and democracy and we've received further notification since we sent the letter that there were school board members who came forward literally frightened for their jobs and i sincerely hope that none of you are in this position and that's no insult to you john um so we encourage please that you act on the words that we often hear the superintendent say on our whole messages uh to contact the governor we have uh look to our local senators we have trust me we have
and all they keep saying to us is that it's on you so on that note we ask that you respectfully please in the best interest to represent the parents and taxpayers of east islip to reach out to hamburger max and jaffee and martingale and they will give you a consultation for free you can't beat that and i understand you have your own lawyers as was sent to me in a response however we do have to be concerned because it's unfortunate that sometimes perhaps a law firm feels that they need to flex let's not do that right now please let's not do that right now let's rely on what they're doing and and listen to them and try the best that we can to do everything we can to make sure that there isn't this type
of government overreach into our local lives when look at you you're sitting here with masks on we know internment camps we grew up with that type of uh study which the children today really aren't uh we know about nuremberg trials the fda just released their 167th annual committee on vaccination it was to say the least pushing for investigations they voted down the booster to the vaccine 16 to 2. they reported that israel though 90 vaccinated has huge outbreaks of kovid whereas udar prashet in india that chose not to vaccinate has now declared themselves coveted free we really need to look at that science and what we're doing to the children with the masking it's not healthy and i know that each and every one of you here see that i know you do um but
we need you to stand up for us and if they're telling us at the top the senators the assemblyman and the legislators that it's in your hands then that's what we have to believe on another note even if we sent our kids back to school god willing no masks right and no fear of a mandated vaccine that could harm them because as the fda reported one of the case studies was on a young 12 year old who received the vaccine and is now paralyzed for life and this was uh buried and now they're pushing for an investigation into that they also learned that they gamed some of the studies this is horrendous but even if we sent them back do we have to worry about what they're being taught in the classroom and that is
another branch of concern it's my understanding that a few weeks ago a parent asked whether or not critical race theory was being taught here and they were told no okay well i have to ask you this then what is this do we know what this is this is the new york state education department's culturally responsive sustaining education framework distributed in 2018 and enforced in districts all across the state so if you're saying that you're not engaged in this this i want to know are you engaged in culturally responsive sustaining educational framework yes i don't know what you're referring to in that book i've never seen that book before you've never seen so far before our staff has seen that that book um so you've never seen it's hard to say i've never seen it no
okay okay no culturally responsive sustainable teaching going on in east islip schools okay i'm sorry yes i'll leave this with you this is only half of the packet um but you can certainly access it through the website um and and i'll i'll just go over quickly what it promotes oh ma'am we're going on 10 minutes on so we have to be respected to start reading that book now oh no no no we'll go through it with you um there's nobody it's just this is very important for the community curriculum in east so i will tie i will tie it up quickly but i will say that it clearly states um throughout here uh for example on page six that the new curriculum in new york state since 2018 needs to support culturally multi-pluralism and no
more assimilation into american values it states that children need to become trained agents of social change and then it continues to say that they need to be taught more about their cultural diversity identities sexuality and and how that's an important lens of learning and not really rigor this goes on and on throughout this document this document is is not beneficial to diversity equity and inclusivity that sounds so wonderful what it is teaching children is about only loving their identity only in tribalism uh and exploring sexual identities that are not healthy so i will leave this with you and i will just ask again please that you consider the lawsuit consider what is taking place at the top levels the new york state education department consider that the nea the national education association which the teachers
unions fall under have also endorsed this type of training please be very careful about even the long island consortium for excellence in equity and what they're pushing as well and look into your budget lines are you spending money on this it's it's very very serious thank you so much for your time [Music] so uh originally i actually just came here to ask a few innocent questions about elementary school clubs um but after these comments i want to make it clear that these folks do not in fact speak for the entirety of the east islip community and i want to make it clear that if the school district joins a lawsuit against the mass mandates um there will be parents in the community who will in fact counter sue the school district in response some of
us take public health seriously some of us understand that we have a civic mandate and a civic responsibility to take public health seriously i do want to point out that since jacobson vs massachusetts in 1905 there is a constitutional supreme court upheld mandate uh validating not only mandatory vaccinations but mandatory all sorts of things in the name of public health i know it's hard reading you know maybe look it up in the constitution if you could just address it sorry thank you um i do want to point out that uh george washington in fact uh supported uh mandatory inoculations during the revolutionary war uh instituted a mandatory quarantine to boston during the revolutionary war um so public health and responsible actions during for public health have always been part of the founding fathers beliefs worth
pointing out also worth pointing out that surgeons and medical professionals routinely wear masks for 12 hours a day with no drop in their blood oxygen levels so i don't know what studies certain other people here were quoting um but we're going to move on and just address the actual question i came here to ask let me just bring up the information um in the budget there were a few positions that were i guess discontinued science olympiad coaches robotics club lego club advisors for the elementary schools and the middle school and there was a high school coach for football and don't get me wrong i love football i have six fantasy football teams all my broken bones of which there are several come for playing football i like football but a school district cannot be just
football and as somebody who has a young child first grader in the district i did not pick my location to raise my family based on its high school football team i picked on the idea of having a chance to have a good education for my child and i heard great things about east islip but if we don't have a good stem education you know that's that's a concern for me you know um i think the last few years have amply demonstrated the importance of good stem education um so i'm i'm wondering what the reason for that is do we consider the optics of maybe having a budget where we cancelled stem teachers and stem clubs and added a football coach and maybe how that might look in some quarters um you know kind of what
what what's the story there because again i like football but i like stem education too first thank you again thank you for an education question it's it's it's nice you know i i'm a teacher by background so i'm gonna get back to that what was your favorite first name again garrett gary um and this one is it it's part it's more logistical than anything else first of all we didn't hire a new football coach one left and we replaced another okay that was just a and he um quite honestly we would have liked to replace him in the summertime but we had to get all his paperwork in um the clubs the history with the clubs was we were negotiating a contract with the teachers and we were actually looking and it just was um
a goal we were adding things in but the con we built the budget in march we had to submit the budget in april and we didn't have a final contract until june so we couldn't budge we did we created new we created new clubs um we're looking to bolster clubs and um we didn't budget for them and we quite honestly never should have put them on the agenda but we did we pulled him back but one of the things we were talking about tonight is we're looking to find the money we're looking to find the funds to do this club um you know we have to be careful we you know as the year goes on what we're hoping to be able to do you know is possibly start them a little later on in
the year now i will also say we have worked very hard over the last couple years and and you know foundationally um you know when we did the bond we did a lot of a lot of construction you know roofs on all that but the roofs on all the buildings but a lot up here at the high school middle school and outside but at the elementary level what we have worked very hard to do is you know six years ago we had one librarian for four elementary schools we're back to four um we have guidance counselors now at the elementary we have reading support in our list teachers uh literacy support with our list teachers um you know so we have systematically really worked way up oh we we have stem we have stem programs
now so you know we have added back at the elementary a tremendous amount of academic stuff um you know this was a mix-up i think on my part um and i apologize to that um and and we're gonna we we spoke about it we're gonna look we have to watch and see you know we'll have an idea after the holidays where we're at spending wise but it does bode well for the future that we have you know we we restarted the robotics problem the robotics program we we didn't have we got rid of it in 2005 we restored it and we had it in as part of the curriculum at the middle school so you know we we have uh worked hard to revamp you know the curriculum and this this was a mistake that
i apologize for but you know we're gonna the board talked about it last night and we're gonna revisit it after the holidays see where we're at because we're never sure what spending could happen i mean last year we got hit with some crazy expenses i think if we don't get hit with some crazy expenses we may be able to do a pilot program because there are also there are also logistical issues that you know we all said rah-rah let's go do it but the boots on the ground people who have to implement these clubs and and run them and make sure there's supervision um you know we got a little bit ahead of ourselves so i apologize but they are they are on the docket they're in the hopper and we will uh you know
moving forward they're there which is good so i apologize for that no that's fine like my son uh is at connect quad and he uh got the tour he was really excited at the uh the science little science classroom they have there so you know seeing that those programs were where those clubs were canceled i was like wow i hope that's not gonna you know kind of i think especially kids at the elementary level have a lot to look forward to here because we really are revamping you know the instruction delivery of instruction we didn't think we were going to have a computer for every kid until 2025 and we everybody has one and uh you know so it's it's an exciting time but this would fall under i think growing pains you know and
i apologize for that thank you you're welcome thank you stephanie that's all okay the the next board of education regular business meeting will be held on thursday october 21st 2021 at 8 pm for those at home that meeting may be virtual only if it is virtual only uh you can submit your questions and questions uh not necessarily statements prior to the meeting and we'll read your questions so please look out for an announcement whether or not that will be virtual that'll be up to the board how we're going to handle that so that again the october 21st meeting may be open may be closed we'll discuss it after tonight and we'll take it from there
